Cannes may be synonymous with red carpets and superyachts, but beyond the glitz of La Croisette lies a surprisingly diverse and dynamic dining scene. While Provençal cuisine often focuses on rich stews and truffles, the city’s proximity to the Mediterranean means raw fish, delicate shellfish, and premium seafood take center stage. For locals and visitors alike, sushi has become a staple of the Riviera lifestyle, offering a lighter, refined alternative to heavier French bistro fare.
Finding high-quality sushi in a city known for luxury can be tricky; some establishments prioritize style over substance to cater to the tourist crowd. However, a handful of chefs in Cannes are dedicated to sourcing top-tier fish, mastering the art of rice seasoning, and creating an authentic experience that rivals the best brasseries in town. Whether you are looking for a quick bento box between meetings or an elegant omakase dinner after a day on the beach, there is a spot tailored to your needs.
The best sushi in Cannes ranges from hidden gems tucked away on the Rue d’Antibes to sleek, contemporary lounges near the Palais des Festivals. Many of these restaurants blend traditional Japanese techniques with subtle French influences, utilizing local Mediterranean fish alongside imported tuna and salmon. Understanding the difference between a tourist trap and a true culinary destination is key to getting the most value for your money.
In this guide, we have curated a list of the most reliable and celebrated sushi addresses in the city. We have considered not only the freshness of the fish but also the atmosphere, service quality, and value for money. Whether you are a purist who judges a restaurant solely by its nigiri or a casual diner looking for creative maki rolls, this list will help you navigate the scene.
Each of these restaurants brings something unique to the table, from traditional Edomae-style sushi to modern fusion creations that reflect the glamour of the French Riviera. You will find options suitable for a romantic date night, a business lunch, or a casual dinner with friends. Because Cannes is a compact city, most of these spots are within walking distance of the main tourist areas, making them convenient no matter where you are staying.
To help you make an informed decision, we have highlighted the signature dishes, the ambiance, and the practical details you need to know before booking a table. The following selection represents the twelve best sushi spots in Cannes, ensuring that your next Japanese meal on the Côte d’Azur is nothing short of spectacular.

Surprisingly really good experience. Already the fact that the chef is Japanese suggested confidence in this actually being a real Japanese cuisine. The menu was bit limited this week but the chef went out of his way to prepare his own creations and it was delicious. Service was really caring and attentive! Definitely would go back!

Very beautiful place to have calme bespoke sushi experience in Cannes near the beach and the port. Beautiful design, atmosphere is fresh and high end. Food is very good quality, service is perfect and warm.
Recommend it absolutely 💯

Such a lovely experience here. The food was honestly amazing - everything we ordered was full of flavour and extremely well done and well presented.
The service was also amazing, friendly and attentive and made us feel really comfortable and very special.
The place had a lovely ambience all round and a beautiful outside area.
Definitely one of my favourite places in Cannes, would 100% recommend!

We hosted a large gathering for 12 people at Shiso and it was the most perfect, cosy ambient setting, with an exceptional and exciting set menu which got everyone talking and tucking into! Both the taste and the presentation of the sushi in the sushi boat was spectacular, the tofu wok in a sweet sauce was utterly delicious, the mochi's at dessert were a mochi lovers dream (I loved the lychee). Shiso's team provided a charming and friendly, efficient service and I'd come back again in a heartbeat. Thank you for having us!

The ambiance of this place was the best part. The beef tataki was overcooked on the edges (burnt) and the cut was extremely thick and smothered in sauce which took away from the flavour. The sushi was also nauseatingly covered in sauce. The black cod miso was definitely the highlight. Overall, extremely expensive dinner and we left unsatisfied.

We went here cause they had good reviews. I doubt they are real. Its impossible this place has good reviews.
Waited an hour and got 1/4 of my order and told them to cancel the rest.
I got 90% rice and a tiny bit of fish. So if you like eating rice balls as sushi this is your place.
The whole restaurant was waiting for food. Maybe 4 rolls came out in an hour.
Blinovnikovy Maria★☆☆☆☆
Extremely long waiting. Wasabi they give you as if they have stolen it somewhere and not very much. We asked for some more 2 or 3 times. And again very slowly. Tuna seemed to be frozen not one time. The digital menu is not clear. So with no waiter you can not find what you want. And any way you should make an order digitally. Our first and last experience there.
Albina V★★☆☆☆
I ordered two different sushi portions, and both were extremely small. The photos on the menu make them look much bigger, but in reality the portions were tiny and definitely not worth the price.
My boyfriend ordered a chicken bowl, it was fine.
I also tried baked rolls (5 pieces) that were supposed to be with crab, but they were mostly just rice with avocado and a very small amount of surimi. This did not match the description at all.
Because of the small portions and the mismatch between the menu and the actual food, I wouldn’t come back.
Anna McCarthy★☆☆☆☆
The spicy tuna roll came out as canned tuna. The food took ages, and was all very bad. Seems like a lot of the reviews of this must be fake. Unfortunately I do not recommend.

The place, it's fantastic, you can see the atmosphere from the parking, like a film. The staff is very sastisfyng and Ruben was fantastic with your presence and your knowledge. Probably the better beef we have eat. It isn't cheap, but you can find a perfect food. Very good the dessert.

Zuma Cannes exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, everything was outstanding. The food was exceptional, with every dish full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was professional, attentive, and made the entire experience feel special. The atmosphere is vibrant and elegant, creating the perfect setting for a memorable lunch or dinner. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we can’t wait to come back.

I've visited Zuma Cannes multiple times. All experiences were great. This place is even better in summer. Food is always great. Beef tataki and miso black cod is highly recommended.
Abdulla Al-mannai★★★★★
Ruben provided excellent service. He was warm, welcoming, and very patient. He took the time to explain everything clearly and helped me understand the menu so I could choose my order with confidence.
The restaurant was a little noisy, so I think lowering the music volume slightly would make the atmosphere even more enjoyable. We were seated on the terrace, which turned out to be the best choice and made the experience much more pleasant. Overall, everything was wonderful, and I would definitely recommend this place.

As usual, Zuma any place around the world never lets you down.. by far one of the most amazing experiences we had during our vacation in south of France.. everything about the experience is extraordinary.. the food amazing, the venue, magnificent, the atmosphere wow, and most importantly the staff are top-notch very welcoming, amazing people, especially Leo and Laura.. and the value of the money compared to the service quality of food and the whole experience is just perfect.. highly recommend this venue if you have a schedule planned for CANNES trip and include it more than one time during your vacation because it’s worth it big-time 👍🏽❤️

Good food, but expensive for what it is.
We were staying at the Mondrian, and we felt like having Japanese. There's quality there and we enjoyed the meal, but it just felt steep once the bill landed.
Having said that, our waiter, Tom, was AMAZING! He was super attentive, friendly and we enjoyed talking to him. If I could give more than 5 stars for the service, I would.
Worth a visit if you're not watching the spend too closely, otherwise manage your expectations on price.
Armen Margarian★★☆☆☆
Dark, dry and almost black tuna and low grade salmon do not belong at a restaurant. Blunt and dry taste. Someone walks over with pitchers of soy sauce, places a few drops of another average-level soy sauce disappears… that’s all you get apparently. Go elsewhere- bad sushi like this should jot be served at a beach city restaurant ever.
James Battey★★★★★
Tom was fantastic. Completely on top of everything, attentive without ever being intrusive. The ladies looking after the water and table service were bubbly, professional and a real credit to the team.
As a yacht captain who regularly sends clients ashore in Cannes, I can genuinely say that’s the best service I’ve experienced here in a very long time. I’ll be recommending you to both clients and fellow yachts without hesitation.
So refreshing to see service done properly when you work in the industry yourself. 👏

We had a wonderful experience. Lo was a lovely waitress who looked after us so well and made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. She was incredibly helpful and attentive. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The overall ambience was beautiful and the service was seamless and truly enjoyable. We would definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our lunch today. The terrace at Mr Nakamoto set back from the Croisette is a beautiful sumptuous and tranquil garden setting with views out to the sea. The service was impeccable and the lunch formula - miso soup, bento box with 4 elements followed by the most sublime pavlova with mango incredible value at €35 each. Can’t wait to come back.

We went to Shiro twice during our trip. The food was wonderful and the portions were big. We tried the poke bowls and the donburi. The service was great too. The place is also very well located near bus stops and the area is lively.
Francesca S★★★★☆
Cute little place with pavement seating and friendly, helpful service. The food isn't terribly Japanese but it was good. We had a selection of sushi (good but the wasabi had zero taste), yakitori (good but quite sweet), gyoza (quite thick fried shell but very tasty), and a beef wok (slightly goopy overpowering sauce but also tasty). Would come back, especially for the sushi, and because the owner was nice.

The place felt a little cramped, but the food was tasty and came quite close to authentic flavors. The staff were very nice and welcoming, even though we arrived just half an hour before closing. Prices were fair, and overall I’d recommend it. The only thing I wished for was a slight improvement in the way the chicken wings were prepared.

As a sushi connoisseur from hawaii.. sushi is phenomenal. Everything truly does melt in your mouth. I got takeaway because i came as they were closing. Huge regret not coming sooner. I would come back as many times as i can

Wow, what a place.
The most important thing: food was just amazing, the quality of it, the way it looked and how it was served.
People working here are very welcoming and genuinely friendly.
In the evening it is very quite here, the only noise you can here it’s AC, but it is very pleasant and going along with the atmosphere of this place.
I mentioned quality of the food already, I can add that it was served pretty quick. And they also manage to prepare other orders for delivery.
I did not expect to see such a place in Cannes/Le Cannet, but I was tempted by the google reviews. That was 100% worth it.

⭐ A place where you truly feel like royalty 👑✨
We had such a wonderful evening at Mido! From the very beginning, we felt genuinely special and incredibly well taken care of.
The staff are exceptionally attentive: they always make sure your water is topped up, they even escort you to the restroom, and every little detail is taken care of with such elegance and care. When the music starts, the waiters even clap along and help create a wonderfully lively and festive atmosphere. 🎶
We enjoyed oysters and wine, but what impressed us most was the feeling of being truly special guests. Mido is one of those places where you simply feel the “wow” factor! ❤️
Highly recommended — we will definitely be back!

Mido was one of those places where dinner naturally turned into a full night out. The atmosphere was amazing from the moment we arrived—great music, people dancing, everyone in a good mood, and the whole place had an infectious energy that made it impossible not to enjoy yourself.
The sushi was honestly the highlight for me. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, the presentation was beautiful, and every roll we ordered was delicious. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food, even though the vibe is fun and lively.
What I loved most was how effortlessly the evening flowed. We started by enjoying the food, then before we knew it everyone around us was singing, dancing, and just having a great time. It never felt forced—it was simply one of those nights where the atmosphere made the experience unforgettable.
Definitely one of my favorite evenings in Cannes, and a place I'd happily go back to.

I appreciate how the waiters are very friendly it was the best part of the experience. The atmosphere is also nice. But the food is seriously overpriced for its quantity and in my opinion it was nothing so exceptional in taste. The cucumber salad was very regular. And the handrolls were very small with very little filling it’s unjustified. The Maguro crudo was the only thing I tried that was really tasty everything else was just alright and way too small. It would have been good if they took payments at the table instead of making people go up front and stand in line to pay, it wasn’t a comfortable ending to the dinner experience.

We came here mainly from the review in google map. We had lunch just before it was about to close. Food was okey (like typical fast food, frozen and reheat) not the best quality sushi place I have had so far but not too bad for a quick lunch. The place was busy during lunch time. However, food came fast. Service was fine. Price was affordable. Restroom was cleaned. Recommend for a quick lunch if you are craving for the taste of Asia.

Wow! I had the Black Dragon Séoul - What contrast of textures and flavors — silky salmon, smooth avocado, slightly firm rice, crunchy bits of uni, chives and tempura shrimp. The rice slightly warm, the fish cool, …a lot of depth and aroma, the choice of sweet and regular soy sauce - It was by far one of the most sophisticated culinary experience I’ve had in a sushi restaurant.
The service was quiet, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing; can’t wait to return. Don’t miss this one!
Dmytro Sachenko★☆☆☆☆
Service was awful, waiter cannot remember a cocktails which we have ordered, have fogotten many times about our requests.
Hookah was not good at all, they didn’t even ask if it ok, it was not strong and tasted vey bad.
Venue was bad, water had been falling at me all time that we were there, also other people were sitting just 20 cm from us.
Do not recommend this place at all.
Yesenia Santos★☆☆☆☆
As an influencer & content creator, I was really disappointed with this place. The waiter (light skin, green eyes) was not only rude to us but also to other guests. He argued with me when I raised a concern and made no effort to accommodate us. Despite spending over $200, I repeatedly asked for an outdoor table and was ignored for over 3 hours, while he clearly chose who he wanted to seat outside. On top of that, it’s unbearably hot inside. If you want to be treated poorly in an uncomfortable setting, this is the place for you.

Great experience at Yuniku! We stopped in right before they were about to close and they happily took our orders and packaged it to-go. We got a crunchy tempura roll, potstickers, and miso soup (not pictured). Everything we ordered was fresh and had nice flavors. The employees were kind and courteous and the inside of the restaurant looked clean and inviting! Wish we could’ve come back to dine-in. Would definitely come back next time I’m in town!

If you’re tired of French, Italian, fine dining, it’s nicely casual to dine! It is centre of the city and food was good 🙂 The guy serving us was super nice and friendly, we had good time in the restaurant. It might be empty, but it is because of Corona 😅 They keep this restaurant for 30yrs and they also do food delivery.

Insider Tips for Choosing the Best Sushi in Cannes
Navigating the sushi scene in Cannes requires a bit of local knowledge, as the city’s high tourist turnover can sometimes lead to inconsistent quality. The difference between a mediocre meal and an unforgettable one often comes down to timing, ordering habits, and knowing what to look for in an authentic establishment. Below are a few practical strategies to ensure you get the freshest fish and the best overall experience during your visit.
1. Prioritize Lunch Specials for Value
Dinner prices in Cannes can be steep, especially in the high season. If you are on a budget but still want high-quality sushi, visit these restaurants during lunch hours. Many offer "formules" or set menus that include miso soup, a selection of sushi or sashimi, and a side salad at a fraction of the evening cost.
2. Look for Mediterranean Fish Specials
While imported salmon and tuna are staples, the best chefs in Cannes often feature local catches. Ask if they have any "poisson du jour" or local specials like sea bream (daurade), red mullet (rouget), or sea bass (loup de mer) prepared as sashimi. This is where the fusion of Japanese technique and French Riviera produce truly shines.
3. Book Ahead During Festival Season
Cannes transforms during events like the Film Festival, MIPIM, or the Lions Festival. The best sushi spots fill up quickly with industry professionals. If you are visiting in May or June, make a reservation at least a few days in advance, or be prepared to wait for a seat at the sushi counter.
4. Judge by the Rice, Not Just the Fish
A common mistake is to focus solely on the fish. Authentic sushi is defined by the quality of the rice—its temperature, texture, and vinegar seasoning. If the rice is cold, hard, or overly sweet, the sushi will fail regardless of how fresh the fish is. The top spots on our list pay meticulous attention to this detail.
5. Consider Takeaway for a Beach Picnic
Cannes has beautiful public beaches and parks, but dining on the sand can be pricey. Several of the sushi spots mentioned offer excellent takeaway or delivery options. Grabbing a high-quality sushi platter to enjoy on the beach at sunset is one of the most memorable and cost-effective ways to dine in Cannes.
6. Don’t Be Afraid to Sit at the Counter
If you are dining solo or as a couple, request a seat at the sushi bar. Not only does this give you a front-row seat to the chef’s craftsmanship, but it also ensures your sushi is served at the precise moment it is prepared. This is the best way to experience the texture and temperature contrasts that define great sushi.
