Stepping away from the bustling cobblestone streets surrounding the iconic bullring of Seville offers a welcome change of pace. The area around Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza is not only a historical treasure but also a vibrant hub for some of the city’s finest coffee culture. Whether you have just finished a guided tour of the arena or are wandering along the banks of the Guadalquivir, a quality caffeine stop is never far away.
Finding a great cup of coffee in this tourist-heavy district can be tricky if you do not know where to look. You want to avoid the overpriced traps that serve bitter espresso to hurried sightseers. Instead, you deserve the authentic spots where locals linger over their morning café con leche and skilled baristas take pride in their craft.
The neighborhood seamlessly blends traditional Spanish roasting techniques with modern, third-wave brewing methods. From historic cafes that have served toreros for decades to minimalist spaces focusing on single-origin beans, the variety is impressive. This guide focuses on quality, atmosphere, and proximity to the Maestranza.
We have scoured the winding alleys of El Arenal and the edges of Santa Cruz to bring you the definitive list. Every recommendation prioritizes flavor, bean quality, and the overall experience you will have as a visitor. You will find options ranging from quick takeaway counters to cozy lounges perfect for resting your feet.
Our selection process involved evaluating the consistency of their espresso pulls, the sourcing of their beans, and the warmth of their service. We also considered the practicalities that matter to travelers, such as opening hours and the availability of light snacks or pastries. This ensures you get a comprehensive view of what awaits you.
Whether you are a dedicated coffee connoisseur hunting for a perfect flat white or a casual drinker seeking a sweet café bombón, there is a spot here for you. Prepare to discover hidden patios, aromatic roasters, and the unmistakable energy of Seville’s social coffee scene. Let this be your roadmap to the best brews near the bullring.

Such a good cafe, highly recommended. Ended up going here 4-6 times over 3 days because their coffee is SO GOOD! Lovely area to catch up, have a drink and meet new people as well. The staff was kind enough to share some exotic funky beans they had and it was experimental and so unique ♥️

One of the best specialty coffee shops I’ve ever visited.
The quality of the beans is exceptional, and you can truly tell how much knowledge and care the team puts into every cup. The baristas are incredibly skilled, and even a simple espresso is made with such precision and attention to detail that you can really taste the quality of the coffee.
What I especially love about MUY COFFEE is their deep understanding and appreciation of specialty coffee. Every visit feels like a chance to experience coffee at its best.
I honestly found myself looking forward to waking up every morning because I knew I was going to start my day here. MUY COFFEE became one of the highlights of my time in Seville, and I’m so grateful I found this place. Highly recommended for anyone who truly loves great coffee. 한국인 분들 그냥 묻고 따지지 말고 이쪽으로 오세요 세비야를 통틀어서 스페인 전체에서 여기가 제일 맛있는 거 같애요. 산미있는 에스프레소 ..최고

My favorite coffee shop in the area. It has a relaxed, laid-back vibe, a friendly owner and team, and genuinely delicious coffee.
The space is small, but it’s been used really well, with a casual, thoughtful setup. They also play great music, which adds to the atmosphere.
Prices are very reasonable, and they even sell their own coffee beans.

Went twice during my quick stay. Had a batch brew that was dialed in—delicate with floral notes and a some fruity vibes! Came back for a cappuccino and it was delicious. They take their coffee seriously and combined with the great vibes and friendly service I would definitely recommend this. It is an authentic specialty coffee shop that anyone into coffee would appreciate.

Muy Rio Coffee just opened today and they’re serving serious specialty coffee (espresso based and filter, beans from Ineffable which is a renowned specialty roaster from Sevilla), and some non coffee options such as hot chocolate, matcha and chai lattes, with some very well crafted bakes, sandwiches, granola, and overnight oats. Friendly and hospitable folks running the place and is a great place if you need a solid cup of coffee.

If the coffee is good, the coffee is good. And here the coffee is good.
From an experienced coffee consumer, I enjoyed my coffee here very much. I’ve drank coffee from all over the world.
The milk here nicely frothed. Taste is very good.
Order to your taste preferences. Big or small, which milk, how many shots. Whatever suits you.
They also have many different kinds of pastries, cookies and cakes. I have not tried them yet, but they all look great.
Also the woman who was working was very kind, and helpful. Great service!

Slightly slow service, but the quality of the matcha made it worth the wait. It was a vibrant green, smooth, and made without sweeteners. We also heard the coffee is excellent.

Absolutely love this spot! The smoothies are delicious and super refreshing, the sandwiches are made perfectly, and the açai bowls are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully put together. Everything on the menu feels thoughtfully crafted and consistently tasty.
The atmosphere is just as good as the food. It is decorated with cute indoor boho vibes with wooden plates, glass straws, and little aesthetic touches that make every dish feel special. They really care about the details.
On top of it all, the staff is friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Definitely a go-to place if you’re looking for great food and a cozy, feel-good vibe.

Jester is a must visit - we went to this specific location but I'm sure they're all of similar great quality.
If you wish to dine in, check upstairs first for a seat before ordering as you want to avoid ordering and then realising there are none!
The acai bowl is absolutely spot on - my favourite one in seville. The granola was one of the nicest I've ever had!
Coffee was great too!

This coffee was at most acceptable however, I personally will not return. I ordered a large Cappuchino for 3,80 € (Jan. 2026) - easily a rather elevated price but one notices that this place get frequented by tourist who look for "something special" and don't mind paying higher prices. However, the Coffee tasted quite watery like flavoured brown water with good temperatured milk foam. Nothing more and nothing less.....there are many more places in Sevilla with better coffee and a better value for money.
Vancy★★★★★
The cappuccino was flavorful and full-bodied. It’s a tiny cafe, mainly focused on to-go orders.
Since it’s sometimes not easy to find great coffee places in Seville, this spot is a real gem.
Anyone who truly loves really good coffee should definitely visit this place!

If you love your independent coffee shops that do coffee well then come here. Love to try different coffee shops wherever I visit, but after one visit here, I didnt need go elsewhere. Superb coffee and great service. Get your caffeine fix here!

Great strong coffee! Got the iced latte. No flavors available though
Kiki Leahy★★★☆☆
Similar experience to other reviews- for the price, the quality was not there. The coffee I was served was over extracted and watery. For the price and specialty vibe, I would have expected higher quality tuning of the beans from the barista. Fine if you don’t really care about coffee…

A café located in the hotel lobby, offering coffee and a selection of baked goods 🥐.
I ordered a flat white, and the coffee was quite average, there are likely better options in the city. We also requested the coffee in ceramic cups, but it was served in paper cups instead.
Another downside was that we were not allowed to sit in the hotel lobby seating area, even though it was empty, and the seating available near the bar was not very comfortable.
Overall, it is a decent spot, but there is room for improvement, especially when it comes to the overall experience.
Manny Guerrero★★★★★
This Syra location offers excellent coffee and other drinks at reasonable prices as well as light pastries. The staff smiles, is super friendly and polite. The modern atmosphere mixed with a touch of an old Spanish placita is of beautiful, well thought out design, relaxing and one feels they have escaped for a few minutes. Because it’s located off a less used alley and not visible to the large crowds, Syra just might be the place to escape on a tiring day.

Recommended to myself and my partner by our tattoo artist (shout out Carmen @ Haus of Tattoo), and so worth it! It’s a cute little spot with only 2 chairs, but every time we’ve been, we’ve been able to sit and chat with each other and with Rebecca behind the bar. They have bags of beans you can buy and they’ll grind them up for you if you like. Excellent, kind service. Not sure if anyone else besides Rebecca works there but she has quickly become a highlight of our time in Sevilla. Highly recommend 🙂
Peter M. H.★★★☆☆
So hot: can't touch this. - The place varies quite a bit in quality or: Consistency is not found due to a volatility in professionalism. As always, I order the Cappuchino (3€ , normal size, Jan 2026) for a reasonable price.
Food quality:
One time the coffee is well balanced and the flavor is pretty good but with the typical Coffee-sweetness of many small roasters. The other day the milk is so hot that you can't touch the paper cup - and it is undrinkable hot. Sorry, but this place can't be recommended.
The Armosphere is rated 2 because there is a busy road in front and inside no where to sit. Thus: not a place to sit quietly and enjoy spending a relaxed time.
Overall: Next please.

Looking for an independent coffee shop in Seville whilst on our walk there aren’t actually that many coffee shops. Googled and came across here, what a little gem of a find! Perfect cold coffee made to perfection - ingredients even weighed out! Only a couple of seats inside but I think many city people use it to have coffee on the go.

Stylish little coffee shop with fun décor and a relaxed feel. The setup is serious, with quality equipment behind the bar and a friendly barista who clearly knows what they’re doing. I had a double espresso for €3 which came with stunning crema and a very balanced flavour. A great quick stop for proper coffee in Seville. I’ll definitely return

I have tried a Cold Coconut Matcha and an Oat Matcha with oat milk and vanilla syrup. Both so creamy and absolutely DELICIOUS! It is clear the matcha is high quality and the woman that served me here was so meticulous in crafting the coffees and matchas, putting so much effort and thought into them. Couldn’t ask for much more from a coffee shop 😍 - you can also buy matcha power, coffee beans and much more separately!

We grabbed a coffee with friends yesterday while walking through the touristic streets of Seville and decided to try this place. The barista was very professional, with his own special method of preparing coffee, and he was such a nice person. The coffee was excellent — as were the cookies, the drinks, and the decoration. Everything was really nice and pleasant.
Tips for Enjoying Coffee Near the Maestranza
Navigating the coffee scene in Seville requires a little local knowledge to ensure you get exactly what you want. The culture here is fast-paced at the bar but leisurely at the tables, and understanding the rhythm will enhance your experience. Here are some essential tips to help you drink coffee like a local while staying near the bullring.
1. Know the local terminology.
In Spain, ordering a "coffee" usually gets you an espresso (café solo). If you want milk, order a café con leche (half coffee, half hot milk) or a cortado (espresso with just a splash of milk). For something cold, especially in the summer heat, ask for a café con hielo, which comes with a glass of ice to pour the hot espresso over.
2. Decide between bar and table service.
Drinking your coffee standing at the bar is significantly cheaper than sitting at a table. If you are on a budget or in a hurry, do as the locals do and order at the counter. However, if your feet hurt from touring the bullring, the small surcharge for a terrace table is often worth the rest and the people-watching.
3. Pair your coffee with a local pastry.
Seville is famous for its breakfast culture. Look for tostada con tomate (toasted bread with crushed tomato and olive oil) or a sweet torrija if it is in season. Many coffee shops near the Maestranza bake their pastries fresh daily, so do not hesitate to ask what has just come out of the oven.
4. Be mindful of the siesta hours.
While the area around the bullring is highly touristic and many cafes stay open all day, some smaller, traditional spots may close between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. If you are planning a late afternoon coffee run, check the hours of the smaller artisan shops in advance to avoid disappointment.
5. Embrace the local roasters.
Instead of defaulting to international chains, try the local Andalusian roasts. Many specialty shops in El Arenal source beans from nearby provinces like Huelva or Cádiz. Asking your barista about the origin of the beans is a great way to learn about the region’s growing coffee culture and discover a new favorite flavor profile.
The aroma of freshly ground coffee mixing with the scent of orange trees is a sensory signature of this part of Seville. Taking the time to enjoy a proper cup near the river is not just a caffeine fix; it is an integral part of experiencing the city’s lifestyle. The pace of life here encourages you to slow down, even if just for the ten minutes it takes to finish an espresso.
As you leave the shadow of the Maestranza and continue your journey through the Andalusian capital, let the warmth of the coffee linger. These cafes are more than just pit stops; they are community pillars where history, art, and flavor converge. Enjoy the buzz, the atmosphere, and the rich taste of Seville.
