12 Best Cafes Near Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza

The area surrounding the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza is one of the most atmospheric parts of Seville. Nestled between the Guadalquivir River and the elegant El Arenal neighbourhood, this historic district is a maze of narrow lanes, baroque facades, and hidden plazas. While the bullring itself draws thousands of visitors each year, the streets around it hold a secret that locals cherish deeply: a thriving specialty coffee and café culture that offers a perfect pause from sightseeing.

Finding a genuine, high-quality café in a tourist-heavy zone can often feel like a gamble. Too frequently, visitors settle for overpriced menus and underwhelming espresso simply because they do not know where else to look. However, just a short stroll from the Maestranza’s ochre walls, you can discover everything from third-wave coffee laboratories to traditional Sevillian breakfast spots. The key is knowing which narrow alley to turn down.

The evolution of Seville’s coffee scene has been remarkable. While the city was once dominated by the traditional "café con leche" served in bustling, noisy bars, a new generation of roasters and baristas has transformed expectations. Today, the area around the bullring offers a diverse range of experiences, including minimalist spaces focused on single-origin beans and historic cafés where the decor has remained unchanged for decades.

For the discerning traveller, a great café is about more than just caffeine. It is about the quality of the roast, the texture of the milk, the atmosphere of the space, and often, the quality of the pastries or tostadas served alongside. Whether you need a quick espresso at the bar before a morning tour or a relaxed spot to rest your feet with a cold brew, this district has you covered.

The proximity of these cafés to the river also makes them ideal for a takeaway coffee. You can grab a perfectly pulled flat white and walk the short distance to the Paseo de Cristóbal Colón to watch the rowers glide by. It is this blend of history, leisure, and modern gastronomy that makes the area so special.

We have curated a list that balances old-world charm with modern precision. Each venue has been selected for its commitment to quality, its unique atmosphere, and its proximity to the Plaza de Toros. You will not find generic franchises here; instead, you will discover independent spaces run by people who are deeply passionate about their craft.

Whether you are a digital nomad looking for a workspace, a couple seeking a romantic courtyard, or a foodie hunting for the best carrot cake in Seville, the perfect spot is waiting for you just steps from the bullring. Here are the best cafés to visit right now.

This coffee was at most acceptable however, I personally will not return. I ordered a large Cappuchino for 3,80 € (Jan. 2026) - easily a rather elevated price but one notices that this place get frequented by tourist who look for "something special" and don't mind paying higher prices. However, the Coffee tasted quite watery like flavoured brown water with good temperatured milk foam. Nothing more and nothing less.....there are many more places in Sevilla with better coffee and a better value for money.
Vancy★★★★★
The cappuccino was flavorful and full-bodied. It’s a tiny cafe, mainly focused on to-go orders. Since it’s sometimes not easy to find great coffee places in Seville, this spot is a real gem. Anyone who truly loves really good coffee should definitely visit this place!
James Maurice★★★★★
If you love your independent coffee shops that do coffee well then come here. Love to try different coffee shops wherever I visit, but after one visit here, I didnt need go elsewhere. Superb coffee and great service. Get your caffeine fix here!

Great strong coffee! Got the iced latte. No flavors available though
Kiki Leahy★★★☆☆
Similar experience to other reviews- for the price, the quality was not there. The coffee I was served was over extracted and watery. For the price and specialty vibe, I would have expected higher quality tuning of the beans from the barista. Fine if you don’t really care about coffee…

Looking for an independent coffee shop in Seville whilst on our walk there aren’t actually that many coffee shops. Googled and came across here, what a little gem of a find! Perfect cold coffee made to perfection - ingredients even weighed out! Only a couple of seats inside but I think many city people use it to have coffee on the go.
DC★★★★★
Stylish little coffee shop with fun décor and a relaxed feel. The setup is serious, with quality equipment behind the bar and a friendly barista who clearly knows what they’re doing. I had a double espresso for €3 which came with stunning crema and a very balanced flavour. A great quick stop for proper coffee in Seville. I’ll definitely return
Jayr the explorer★★★★★
Love their coffee.. offered filtered and espresso coffee beans.. went twice to grab their delicious latte.. they roast their own beans too… downside is not much seating area…
Laura Viana-Gardner★★★★★
I have tried a Cold Coconut Matcha and an Oat Matcha with oat milk and vanilla syrup. Both so creamy and absolutely DELICIOUS! It is clear the matcha is high quality and the woman that served me here was so meticulous in crafting the coffees and matchas, putting so much effort and thought into them. Couldn’t ask for much more from a coffee shop 😍 - you can also buy matcha power, coffee beans and much more separately!
Roya Shahrabi★★★★★
We grabbed a coffee with friends yesterday while walking through the touristic streets of Seville and decided to try this place. The barista was very professional, with his own special method of preparing coffee, and he was such a nice person. The coffee was excellent — as were the cookies, the drinks, and the decoration. Everything was really nice and pleasant.

Might be the slowest service going, with the lad serving us chatting with his mates rather than finishing our order. Not worth your time.

Fellow Asians, don't bother coming to this place because they clearly are better off our business, and why would you overpay for a coffee here anyways.
Tarek Saleh★★★★★
Super good coffee, similar to Italy

The paint wall next to us dried before we got our drink! Not worth the wait, and it was mediocre at best.

Local is in the downtown, excellent ubication, the service is bad because there are a lot of tables for just two waiters and the food and meal are regular, not good...

We ordered Focaccia hier. The Bread was a bit old. The ingredients were some cold some half warm and dry topping. I asked if they could make me now a sandwich without ham, they couldn’t, probably because all the sandwiches are prepared from the day before and they never make any thing fresh in the kitsches. I had to swallow the sandwich because it tasted weird. The coffee was okey. It was definitely not worth the money. My two favourite brunch cafes were Mariquita Brunch and Billy Brunch. I recommend you to try one of these instead.
Xuan★☆☆☆☆
Unfortunately, this was a disappointing brunch experience. The pulled pork bagel sounded promising, but although the bagel was served warm, it was very hard. The fillings were cold, and the bottom half of the bagel was soggy. I also ordered an iced Americano, but instead of a properly prepared drink, I was served an espresso, a jug of hot water, and just two ice cubes separately. After mixing it myself, the coffee ended up lukewarm rather than iced. The service was also confusing. I asked if I could order from the lunch menu, and the staff member checked with the kitchen before telling me lunch wasn't available until 1 pm. As it was only about 15 minutes away, I said I was happy to come back later. Only then was I told that I couldn't order anyway because there was no meat available for the burgers. I wish this had been explained from the beginning, as it left me feeling like I was being steered towards ordering from the brunch items instead. Overall, the food quality, drinks, and service didn't meet my expectations. I would definitely not recommend this place.
Walid★★★★☆
Arenza de crema was as delicious as it looks! Definitely recommend the pistachio and chocolate version. The scrambled eggs are below average and super boring. Atmosphere is great, but it smelled a lot of times like a random room spray. Didn’t like the smell of it at all, super confusing. Staff is very friendly and attentive.
Payal Agarwalla★★★☆☆
My order wasn’t taken properly, which led to some confusion and missing items. The quantity served was also quite less compared to expectations. The taste of the food was just okay—not bad, but nothing special either.
Hussam Galal★★★★★
A Bakery has a lovely ambiance with plenty of seating perfect for a relaxed breakfast or coffee break. The coffee is excellent, and the freshly made pastries are delicious. The prices are reasonable. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots in Seville!

Lovely cafe close the Seville Cathedral. Thank you Inez for a wonderful service. She is welcoming, warm & gives good recommendations for what to order. Tasty coffee, açai bowl & bagel sandwiches. Banana bread and cinnamon rolls were a little dry, but yummy too! Highly recommended.

Exceptional coffee and cakes - especially if your an early bird, the Jester opens at 8am! Vegan brownie was fantastic and it was gluten free which I was genuinely suprised how nice it was. My partner had the carrot cake and loved it! Take away service was great.

Very tasty breakfast and lunch! The selection is extensive and it is difficult to choose from all that deliciousness. Small terrace, but definitely worth a visit! It is very popular and therefore busy. Service was very quick and the staff was friendly!

This was a great place for breakfast/brunch. The fruit with yogurt stood out because of the quality of the fruit they put in it. The also offered a good English breakfast that my son had and enjoyed. The service was quick and we loved the outdoor seating. They had some indoor seating as well but we opted to sit outside.
Tahsin Khan★★★★★
I enjoyed my breakfast here. Their Turkish eggs were great, and the ambience is really nice. This place doesn't appear to be overhyped or crowded like many other brunch spots I recommended over many other popular brunch spots around town.
Karolina Szczerba★★★★★
If i could give cafe otto 10 stars, I would. All the cakes we tried (brownie, two kinds of cheesecakes) were one of the best we’ve ever had. Amazing savoury croissant. Came back multiple times, it was so great. The waiter (owner?) was super kind and helpful.
Kalsuma Begum★★★★★
Cutest little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Menu had good options for those who can’t eat meat and had nice sweet treats too. The iced caramel latte was gorgeous. Our server was very helpful and polite also!

We came for three brunch times while we were in Seville, and the food and service was amazing every time. 10/10 would recommend. We had cocktails, coffee, crepes, club sandwich, bagels and toast and they were all delicious, I could not recommend this place enough!

This coffee shop was on my radar being so highly rated but because of its limited open timings it was a struggle to get coffee but it sure paid off when I managed to try the coffee. Nestled on the streets beside the setas you can sit on a bench, bask in the sun and try this complex, deep flavoured that somehow wasn't bitter even without any sweetener ( I usually have coffee with sweetener). Top coffee experiences in Spain for me.
Kim Mendoza★★★★☆
Little coffee shop with lots of character! You can see in the details and interiors of the shop. Excellent service as well. The barista was very helpful and warm when we asked about the beans and items in the menu. We also enjoyed the coffee. Tried both iced latte Regina and espresso tonic which were both flavorful. I would’ve given it 5 stars if there were pastries. But overall, a must try!!

Great spot - thought the tapas potions were generous and well priced. Had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table but food came pretty quickly when we got there. Standouts were the pork in whiskey sauce and Camembert with blueberry jam. Sangria was also delicious!

I came in on a Sunday via train and most places’ kitchen were closed so they were a life saver. I liked the aesthetic of the place. Food was pretty good. I expected the portions to be smaller than what they actually were. I shared with my dad and he went in for seconds when it came to oxtails. It was my first time having it and had no expectations but it had good flavor and tender
Oytun Gokler★★★★★
Just a walk-in turned into an amazin meal. Everyting was fresh and tasty. Ox tail was my personal favorite. Staff was vonderful and friendly. Drinks could be a litte colder but I can not complain. Paid 63€ for 4 people.
Yeung Ng★★★★★
This place has great food! The portions were huge, even though it was tapas-sized. The food was very traditional Spanish, both in taste and decor style. A kind gentleman staff member was always there to help me as a rather helpless tourist sitting in the corner. The service seemed great to me. No wait at the time I came, obviously because it wasn’t local people’s usual lunch time as the queue got long enough by the time I finished.
Adam Boyes★★★★★
Myself and partner went into this place blind tested. It did not disappoint. It was very busy, we arrived around 8pm. We ordered a few plates of tapas and a few drinks. I went for whisky and coke. Which I found reasonably priced, My partner had a coke and a beer. I used the bathroom facilities in the establishment and they were clean. We enjoyed the the food. I especially enjoyed the ox tail. Would definitely eat in this place again. We found the bill to be pretty reasonable.

A friendly café in a nice locality a little away from the centre. You are greeted warmly by the friendly and welcoming staff. We had a baby with us and the staff made sure we had the most comfortable table close to the loo so we could also have a bit of privacy when needed. The chef also came by to discuss our dietary preferences. This was much appreciated. The vibe is quite relaxing. Although it's a busy café you can still enjoy within your own circle. The food here is all so fresh and delicious. I've had the best pasta and the traditional Sevillan breakfast here. We had to return on another 2 days of our visit. My favourite dishes are the gnocchi carbonara, the traditional Tostada as well as the focaccia. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a very modern vibe and hearty meals at reasonable prices.
Adam Boyes★★★★★
If you're in the area I recommend having a bite here. Our apartment is just around the corner. We had a bite to eat around 3pm. It was fairly quiet. The front of house was friendly and polite. The food was really well done. Even though it was a light bite it was beautifully cooked, even asked how I would like my burger cooked. We thought it was reasonably priced. It was clean. Thanks again for enjoyable experience. Definitely would be back.
Ailsa Dempsey★★★★★
Had breakfast here after passing by, and it was absolutely worth the stop. The place was packed with both locals and tourists, which is always a good sign. The food was excellent, especially since they make their own bread. The prices are very reasonable. The staff were also fantastic and added to the overall great experience. The only small downside for me was the croissant, it’s the curved, sugar-glazed style rather than the classic straight one. If you know your croissant, you know that’s not a proper croissant. Having said that I’m still giving it a five stars.
Simon G★★★★★
Amazing! Glad I discovered this place on day 1 of my visit to Seville and will definitely return! My wife and I shared a salad, sandwich and ordered a smoothie each! I would recommend this 100%!
Mara Stefania★★☆☆☆
Considering the hype, we were so excited to have breakfast here. Unfortunately we left disappointed, annoyed and €100 poorer. Avoid the waffles, sandwiches, gourmet toasts, all of it. One egg on two huge slabs of toast was so odd. As a party of 6, we tried a large variety, and nothing was good. To top it off, the coffee was awful- bitter but watery. The waiter was rude, when I asked for eggs on toast, he said it’s not possible to do after 12 despite there being so many dishes including egg and toast still available at 1pm. I then asked for the hollandaise to be with toast instead of waffle, a quick and easy swap, and was met with a rude blunt ‘no’ yet again. It was new years though so maybe they were just being non accommodating due to this. However, the brunette lady was absolutely lovely, hence the 3 stars for service (which otherwise would be too generous). The orange juice glasses came half full too. Weird considering the abundance of oranges in this city. The only good thing was the smoothie. For the price, the quality and the atmosphere, this place is NOT worth it. Avoid.

This place is a great spot to grab a soft drink on the main Street near Sevilla Cathedral. The coffee is decent, but I don’t like the top. It’s way too sugary for me. My friends enjoy the cruvason. The service was just okay. The waiters seemed tired and grumpy.
Anthony Gerbavac★★★★★
Luian provided excellent service from start to finish. They were friendly, attentive, and made sure we always had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food came out quickly, and they checked on us at just the right times. Their positive attitude made the whole dining experience even better. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this restaurant because of the outstanding service!

Loved Guille’s service on our table. He was very helpful and patient with us choosing the menu. The food tastes good & the coffee was a masterpiece!

We stumbled upon this spot while strolling the streets in Seville. There was a huge lineup to get inside which was part reason of us wanting to try it out. Our experience was quite delightful hence not sure why they have a lower rating on here. We were able to get seated within fifteen minutes. Ground level was packed, but we got seated on the first level, which was half empty. Menu had plenty of options, service was fine, what you would typically expect at a busy restaurant and the items we ordered were delicious. Ita a great place to relax, socialize and grab a bite, snacks, desserts or hot beverages. That's pretty much what we had and have no hesitation in recommending this place. Would definitely revisit if were in Seville.
Adriana Andrade★★★★★
We want to share that António at the jamonería was very kind and attentive, taking the time to explain the differences between the various products. The pastry shop's rating does not reflect the service he provided. Un mensaje especial para Antonio: le deseamos un buen viaje hasta Lisboa. ¡hasta la próxima!

Perfect spot for brunch, with options for every taste, both savory and sweet. They also offer many vegetarian options for savory dishes. It’s located in a central area of the city and is small but well-designed. There are seats both indoors and outdoors, making it perfect for a meal that’s a little different from the usual. The service was reasonably fast, and all the staff were kind and polite. I highly recommend it.
Hannah Balogun★★★★★
I visited Moya today for breakfast, and it was amazing!! Not only was the cafe really aesthetically pleasing and beuatiful, the food was amazing, the drinks were great, the vibes were nice, the staff was amazing, especially Jara. She was really friendly, accomodating, and sweet. Overall, amazing vibes, I would definitely come back! I got the waffle, eggs, avocado, and bacon, and just a great start to my day overall. Thank you, Jara and Moya once again for your great hospitality.
Sanne★★★★★
We absolutely loved Moya — so much that we came here every single day during our week in Sevilla. My brother had recommended it from a previous trip, and he was absolutely right. I ordered the Açaí Bowl every morning, he always took the Tropical Smoothie Bowl, and another in our group went for the hummus avocado toast. All of it was consistently delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The coffee was also really good — we tried both regular‑milk and oat‑milk cappuccinos (the small ones) and both were excellent. The juices were a bit on the sour side for my taste, but everything else was perfect. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. By the end of the week, they didn’t even need to ask for my order anymore — they remembered it. The vibe isn’t traditional Spanish; it’s more of a Bali‑style, pink, “Instagrammable” brunch spot. Not usually my type of atmosphere, but the food is absolutely amazing, so it didn’t matter at all. Truly highly, highly, highly recommend. One of our favourite breakfast places in Sevilla.
Pieter Cools★★★★★
What a pleasant surprise to discover near our hotel. A vibrant place with pink accents that immediately lightens up your day. We took the waffle with omelette and avocado and the açaí bowl. Both were freshly made and delicious. But the real star was the coffee, a Burundi origin coffee with nice floral notes and a pleasant non bitter finish. Will come back here tomorrow!
Sonia Petrini★★★★☆
Lovely spot in a small street 🙂 exactly what I was looking for. The chai latte had the perfect sweetness and temperature, and the corn fritters were good, although the avocado could've been better. I had no problem finding a place to eat, and it was not too crowded despite being Sunday. Overall very good experience! Service was very welcoming.

Seville has a distinct rhythm, and the café culture adapts to the heat and the social habits of its residents. The following tips will help you blend in, save money, and drink better coffee during your visit.

  1. Know the difference between "barra" and "mesa". In many traditional spots, prices change depending on where you sit. Standing at the bar (barra) is often significantly cheaper than sitting at a table (mesa). If you are just having a quick espresso and a pastry, join the locals standing up.
  2. Order the local breakfast combo. If you visit before noon, look for the "desayuno" deals. Many cafés offer a "tostada" (toasted bread with tomato and olive oil or ham) paired with coffee for a fixed price. It is the authentic way to start a day of sightseeing.
  3. Specify your milk preference. If you are vegan or lactose intolerant, do not assume every shop has alternatives. While modern specialty shops near the river almost always carry oat or almond milk, traditional cafés might only have whole or semi-skimmed milk. Always ask before ordering.
  4. Beat the heat with "café con hielo." If you are visiting during the warmer months, ask for a "café con hielo." You will usually be served a hot espresso alongside a glass full of ice. You pour the coffee over the ice and add sugar to taste—it is the original Andalusian iced coffee.
  5. Check the siesta hours. While the area around the bullring is touristy, some smaller, family-run cafés may still close for a few hours in the late afternoon. If you have your heart set on a specific spot between 4 PM and 7 PM, check their current opening times online to avoid disappointment.

Walking through the El Arenal district with a great coffee in hand is one of the simplest pleasures Seville has to offer. The scent of orange blossoms in spring, the sound of church bells, and the sight of the river shimmering in the distance create a sensory experience that is hard to match anywhere else in the world.

By choosing independent cafés over mass-market chains, you are also supporting the local economy and the artisans who are working hard to preserve the soul of this historic neighbourhood. So, take your time, linger over your cup, and enjoy the rhythm of Seville—one sip at a time.
