Walking through the historic center of Seville, the silhouette of the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza is impossible to ignore. Its iconic white and ochre facade draws thousands of visitors daily, whether they are attending a bullfight or simply touring the museum. Yet, after spending an hour or two immersed in the history of this ring, one physical need inevitably takes over: hunger.
Seville is a city that runs on a rhythm of coffee, pastries, and bread. The area surrounding the bullring, nestled between the Arenal neighborhood and the banks of the Guadalquivir River, is a hotspot for traditional Sevillian baking. Here, the air is often thick with the scent of orange blossom, azahar, mixed with toasted flour and sugar.
Finding a quality bakery in this tourist-heavy zone requires a bit of local knowledge. You want to avoid the generic, pre-frozen croissants often sold to unsuspecting visitors and instead find the spots where locals line up for their daily bread, molletes, and sweet treats. Fortunately, the streets radiating from the Maestranza are filled with historic establishments and modern patisseries that have perfected the art of Spanish baking.
For a traveler, a bakery stop is more than just a meal; it is a cultural immersion. Whether you are looking for a savory breakfast of tostada con tomate before sightseeing or a box of assorted pastries to enjoy by the river, the right bakery sets the tone for the day. The neighborhoods surrounding the bullring—El Arenal and Triana—are famous for their artisan food culture.
Because the Plaza de Toros is a central meeting point, these bakeries are also incredibly convenient. You can grab a quick coffee and a pastry before entering the museum, or pick up a loaf of bread and some pastries for a picnic on the nearby Puente de Triana. The options vary from traditional convents selling sweets to modern coffee-bakery hybrids.
This guide focuses on the best spots within walking distance of the bullring. We have prioritized places that offer high-quality ingredients, authentic recipes, and that distinct Sevillian character that makes the city so special. You will find everything from crispy palmiers to dense, sugar-dusted sponge cakes.
To help you plan your culinary walk through Seville, we have curated a list of the most reliable and delicious bakeries near the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza.

Panypiu is a very pleasant spot for breakfast or a light meal. The coffee is excellent, and both the croissant and the sandwich are fresh and tasty, making for a satisfying combination. Overall, it’s a simple but high-quality place that works well for a relaxed start to the day in Seville.
Hebe Harris★★★★★
Bakery with delicious and varied food options. We tried the focaccia, pistachio croissant, milk bun and apricot pastry and all were perfect, as was the coffee

Found this place thanks to Google reviews. What a wonderful cafe bakery. First visit to Seville and this cafe and the staff are friendly and helpful. Supportive to you learning Spanish but also speak in English if you get stuck.
We weren’t exactly sure of how to get served at first but approached the counter to wait. A couple of times we were missed but I honestly think that was down to us speaking to each other - so we weren’t interrupted. As soon as we stood with purpose and engaged, made eye contact with staff, we were served.
The food we ordered was wonderful, I had the spinach quiche and OH MY WORD! Out of this world, I’m pretty convinced there was goats cheese in it. Whatever cheese it was it was lush and the texture of the warmed quiche with the salad and balsamic was spot on.
Cappuccino for me. Appletiser and bagel with ham cheese and rocket for my partner. He loved it too. Highly recommended. The interior and atmosphere is also very calming and welcoming. One thing I also love is the thought to add hooks under the table for your belongings. Wish more places in the UK thought to do this.
Facilities include - fully accessible toilet, baby changing space in there and I spotted a highchair too. Everyone is welcome.
Alexander Slipchenko★★★★★
Pretty decent experience overall. Good breakfast options, a lot of nice pastry. English breakfast good, but on a small side of scale. Cards are accepted. In the morning can be pretty hectic - queue is rather unorganized and seating places are pretty scarce.

Panypiu - Bread and much more
The best bakery in Seville! I’ve been trying many croissants almost 4 weeks in Seville.
Among nice bakeries in the city, I found this place as my number one because it has more than just pan 🙂
My favorites were the croissant and pain au chocolat. They are crispy outside, moist inside from enough butter. For me, the chocolate in pain au chocolat was also rich and just right. And the price is reasonable, the size is very generous.
The staffs are so patient and warm- hearted even when it’s too busy which is always.
They are focused on what they should serve. I think the team works very efficiently. I admire their work.
I already became a repeat customer here.
My breakfast time here was the happiest time during my stay in Seville 🙂
I hope all best to everyone who works here. 👍

Bakeries in Spain often disappoint me with their bland, dry, and super sweet pastries, but this one is a gem! The chocolate strawberry cake I had was really good! It has layers of flavors, not too sweet, and the taste of fresh strawberries along with the chocolate really worked well. I wish they have a branch in Malaga.

I got their cake as a birthday present, and it was delicious! As far as I know it was pre ordered through their website and also included pretty candles 🙂

I really enjoy the desserts here. The sweetness is subtle and balanced, and the texture is incredibly smooth. It practically melts in your mouth. Amazing!

We ordered an amazing cake! Can highly recommend
Marijana Bengin★★☆☆☆
For a specialty cakes and sweets shop, I was honestly disappointed.
The cakes don’t seem homemade, they look more like store-bought sponge layers with fillings that may or may not be made in-house. There was only one cake that appeared homemade, which I chose, and that’s the only reason I’m giving two stars.

Best pastries we tried in Seville. Had the raspberry mascarpone croissant, pan Suisse, chocolate covered hazelnut croissant and pistachio caracol. Beautiful all of them. Will happily return. And the shopkeeper was very affable and helpful.
Liam Corrigan★★★★★
In our top 5 globally. Try the local custard it's delicious with cinnamon and star anise but perfectly balanced so nothing overpowers. We came 2 days in a row and none of the cakes disappointed. Would heartily recommend.
Abdul Aziz Al-Amin★★★★★
Pastries were quite delicious, had the pistachio and raspberry croissants. Service was too notch very helpful and friendly people there. Highly recommended.
Ali Mohammadi★★★★★
Dulcería Manu Jara was a lovely find and definitely worth the stop. I ordered the pain au chocolat and the pain suisse. The pain au chocolat was my favourite, buttery, flaky, and rich without being overly sweet. The owner was very kind and attentive, which made the visit feel even more personal.
I picked up my pastries to go and later paired them with a double cortado from another spot nearby. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and you can really tell they use quality ingredients. The bakery itself is beautifully decorated, with a high-end display of pastries that shows off their craftsmanship. Just note there is no seating, so it’s more of a takeaway place.
This spot is well known in Seville and you can tell it’s earned its reputation. Others rave about their desserts and the overall experience and I have to agree. If you’re in the Triana neighborhood and want something sweet and authentic, this is a must visit.
Liz Bissonnette★★★★★
Wonderful service and the tastiest pastries. I enjoyed the Pan de Pistachio among others.

If you are looking for flaky croissant, this is not the place. It’s more like bread and it was dry. Staff was not friendly, unwelcoming, and touching his facial hair. There was also construction inside, it started as I was eating. You will smell it! I wouldn’t recommend this place. Hope this will improve…
Cynthia C★★★★★
I have been this bakery yesterday and today, and I highly recommend it. The croissants are delicious, both original one and pistachio one. And the staff here are so nice, I especially wanna thank for Lola for her heartwarming service. Yesterday I didn’t pay successfully in the first time, but she told me don’t worry and kindly treat me ^^ I feel so moved by staff here.

I had a fantastic experience here! The cakes were absolutely delicious and the coffee was perfect. What impressed me the most was the portion sizes—they are very generous and offer excellent value for the price. The atmosphere is wonderful, making it a great place to relax, and the service was also very good. Everything we tried was high quality and satisfying. I highly recommend visiting if you’re looking for great treats and a lovely environment.
Canberk Özbaykuş★★★★★
We absolutely loved our breakfast here! The mollete toast was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside — simple yet full of flavor. The croissants were outstanding, rich with the aroma of real butter and baked to perfection. But the real star was the pistachio croissant — flaky, creamy, and truly unforgettable. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and you can tell great care goes into every detail. A must-visit spot in Seville for anyone who loves good pastry and bread! 🥐✨
Fatih Turan★☆☆☆☆
The staff were very rude. They looked tired of the tourists. But they shouldn't forget that they make their money from tourists. They need to be more friendly and respectful. The tables outside were very dirty. Why did you paint the inside of the pistachio croissant green??
We had ordered takeaway, but when the child got tired, we thought it wouldn't be a problem to sit at the dirty tables outside for a short while. A rude woman warned us in a rude tone, "You ordered takeaway, you can't sit here." When I said we could pay if there was a fee, she continued muttering, turned around, and walked away.

El Torno is a tiny little gem tucked away inside Plaza del Cabildo—the commercial gallery right in the heart of Sevilla's city center. Don't let the small size deceive you though, because their pastries are absolutely delicious!
They have a few different flavors to choose from, but we went for the almond with lemon one—which happens to be their most popular—and it was incredible! The combination of flavors was just perfect, and you can tell they put a lot of care into what they make.
If you're passing through Plaza del Cabildo, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's the perfect little treat to enjoy while exploring the city center. Highly recommended! 🥐🍋

A really warm welcome by the man in the shop, who was so patient with my broken Spanish and gave us recommendations. We ordered little cakes that had the best texture and flavour in the world! Marzipan like but not too sweet, soft on the inside, delicious!

Loved this little shop! The person at the counter was lovely with a great big smile. I appreciate that she seemed genuinely interested in helping us. I got one box as a gift and the large assorted box for us to enjoy while in Seville... That was two days ago and we're already finished...! I believe most of them had an almond paste-type center, which I really enjoyed. A bonus of visiting the shop is the beautiful courtyard that surrounds it. Both are a must visit!
Edit: yes, that was me! I don't think Google map users want to see a phot of me 😉

Probably the best cafe in Seville, my second visit to this outlet in another branch. Smoothie was delicious and reasonably priced. Sandwiches and lunches are also fairly priced. Just google this cafe and make an effort to visit, you will thank yourself and save lots of money from all those tourist traps. Good luck.

The curry chicken one is especially delicious — perfectly flaky on the outside and full of rich, flavorful filling inside. You can really taste the spices and the care they put into making it. Definitely one of my favorites! The eggplant is way too salty for me but if you prefer something salty that could be a good choice too. The oxtail taste unique

My mum and I visited this cafe to have our morning breakfast. We ordered 2 coffees and brought along our own pastries from a nearby bakery (barely 2 croissants) and the lady at the till LOST her mind. The server, a male, was kind enough to inform us that usually we do not allow outside food but since you are having our coffee we do not mind but the lady server was just plain rude and unapologetic. The way she gave me the stares, the abruptness in her service and her attitude and on top of everything she did not even try to communicate in any other language other than Spanish was just plain outrageous. I have been to 9 countries, currently living in England and I can promise that the service we got at this cafe was one of the worst experiences ever. I am so disappointed

One of the best pastry shops we’ve ever visited! We tried several cakes and pastries on our first day, and they were so fresh and delicious that we immediately returned the next day to buy more. In fact, we will probably go back again tonight, making it three visits in just two days. Every pastry has been full of flavor and clearly homemade with care. We are only in Seville for a week, so we don’t know how other pastry shops compare, but if we lived here, this would definitely become our go-to place for sweets. Highly recommended!

Great range of pastries, cakes and chocolates in this beautiful little place round the corner from our apartment.
We had the pestinos which were honestly the most delicious pastry I've ever eaten. Sweet and light flaky pastry with a hint of creamy filling dusted with icing sugar, and the perfect size to be satisfying. I wish I'd gone there on my first day rather than my last!

We liked their pastries so mix we came back right away to try different things. They offer so many different kinds of pastries that it was hard to choose from. We got chocolate truffles, cakes, and breads. The place is small but they made room to showcase their pastries and give you tons to choose from. We wish they had a sampler tray so we could pick and choose different things in smaller sizes so we can try as much as possible. The server was kind and smiled the whole time she was serving us, I really enjoyed chatting with her. I’d recommend this place as a quick desert stop.

How to Choose the Best Bakery in Seville
Navigating the bakery scene in Seville can be overwhelming, especially when you are trying to distinguish between a tourist trap and a true local gem. The difference often lies in the details: the texture of the bread, the aroma of the lard in the pastries, and the time of day you visit. To ensure you have the best possible experience near the bullring, consider the following practical advice before you step through the door.
Look for the Breakfast Rush
The best bakeries in Seville have a distinct rush hour between 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM. This is when locals stop in for their morning coffee and toast. If a bakery is empty during this window while the one next door is packed, that is a clear signal. Follow the crowd of locals; they know where the bread is freshest and the coffee is strongest.
Understand the Sweet vs. Savory Split
Many Spanish bakeries, or pastelerías, specialize in sweets, while panaderías focus on bread. However, the best spots near the Maestranza often blur these lines. Decide what you need before entering. If you want a savory breakfast, look for a place advertising "mollete" or "pitufo" bread. If you are after dessert, look for display cases filled with "palmeras" and "tartas."
Ask for the "Especialidad de la Casa"
Seville is famous for specific pastries that you might not find elsewhere in Spain. The "tocino de cielo" is a rich custard, and "pestiños" are honey-glazed pastries often associated with Easter but available year-round in some spots. Ask the staff what they are known for. They will usually point you toward the item that is baked fresh daily and represents the true flavor of the region.
Check for Whole Wheat and Artisan Flours
In recent years, a wave of artisanal bakeries has swept through Seville, focusing on slow fermentation and organic flours. If you prefer a denser, more nutritious bread, look for words like "masa madre" (sourdough) or "integral" (whole wheat). These bakeries are usually a bit pricier but offer a distinct quality that stands out from standard white bread.
Time Your Visit for the Afternoon Snack
If you are visiting the bullring in the afternoon, remember that many traditional bakeries close for a siesta between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. However, modern cafés and pastry shops in the tourist center often stay open. If you want a traditional experience, go early. If you need a sugar fix at 4:00 PM, look for a "cafetería" that doubles as a bakery.
Seville is a city that demands to be tasted slowly. Whether you are biting into a flaky croissant while looking up at the Maestranza facade or dipping churros into thick chocolate by the river, the experience is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the food. The bakeries listed above offer the perfect excuse to pause, rest your feet, and watch the city pass by. Take your time, order something you cannot pronounce, and enjoy the sweet side of Seville.
