12 Best Aesthetic Cafes in Reims

Reims may be celebrated worldwide as the unofficial capital of Champagne, but beyond its legendary maisons and UNESCO-listed basilica lies a quietly evolving coffee culture. Over the past few years, the city has welcomed a wave of independent establishments that treat interior design as seriously as their espresso extraction. For locals and travelers alike, these spaces offer more than caffeine—they provide an atmosphere, a moment of pause, and often a visual feast.

The rise of the aesthetic cafe in Reims reflects a broader shift in how people experience urban spaces. Travelers no longer simply ask where to find the best croissant; they ask where to find the best light, the most thoughtful ceramics, or the most inspiring color palette. In response, Reims has cultivated a scene where minimalism meets French art de vivre, and where heritage architecture often frames contemporary design.

What makes this city’s cafe scene distinctive is its seamless blend of old and new. You might sip a flat white beneath centuries-old stone vaults, or enjoy a hand-poured filter in a sunlit room furnished with mid-century modern chairs. Each venue tells a different visual story, yet all share a commitment to quality ingredients and a welcoming rhythm that encourages lingering.

For the design-conscious visitor, choosing where to enjoy a morning coffee becomes part of the travel experience itself. The right cafe can set the tone for an entire day of exploring the Cathedral Notre-Dame, the Palais du Tau, or the surrounding Champagne vineyards. It can also serve as a quiet retreat when the tourist trail feels overwhelming.

In this guide, we have curated a selection of spaces that stand out for their aesthetic cohesion, memorable interiors, and dedication to the craft of coffee and pastry. These are places where the details—textured walls, handmade mugs, carefully arranged flowers—elevate a simple break into something closer to ritual.

Whether you are hunting for the perfect flat lay, seeking a serene workspace, or simply craving a beautifully presented dessert, Reims offers a surprising depth of options. Below, you will find the city’s most visually compelling and atmospherically rich cafes, chosen for their ability to inspire as much as to satisfy.

Before heading back, (22 july 2026) I had to drop by my favorite spot in Reims! Holy Shot Coffee Shop is a true hidden gem—cozy, tiny, and super popular with the younger crowd. Do not miss: Freshly brewed coffee made with local roasted beans A absolute must-visit! The amazing Carrot Cake,

Since this was my very first time in Reims, I really wanted to soak up the local foodie culture. I was searching for a small coffee shop, and I passed by Holy Shot and decided to pop in. The proprietor behind the counter couldn't have been nicer. She spoke zero English, but was incredibly welcoming and kind. She seemed almost giddy (by French standards) to have tourists in her coffee shop, so I got the feeling this was a very locals-only type place. We ordered cappuccinos and a "baked fresh today" chocolate chip cookie that looked too irresistible to pass up. Now, France isn't exactly known for their espresso, and these cappuccinos admittedly weren't very good. They were hot, but that's about it. The cookie didn't fare much better, it wasn't very sweet but did taste nice and fresh. You could really taste the fresh butter and quality ingredients. This is a very tiny little coffee shop, and we sat at a communal table in the window with a lovely local couple who also didn't speak English (or look, they at least pretended not to, LOL). Although I didn't love the coffee or treats, the cozy atmosphere was absolutely perfect, especially on a cold and rainy afternoon in Reims. It also felt really good to support a small local business.

Cakes and sweets looked good (didn’t taste), but the coffee was disappointing: the cappuccino was more like a weak latte. And rather expensive as well. For specialty coffee, look elsewhere.
Ka Lok Tsang★★☆☆☆
Nice staff, nice environment! For personal taste, coffee is not good. I ordered flat white and cappuccino. The coffee taste is too light (just like milk). But the cake is nice!

The cappuccino was fine - nothing special but well drinkable. The flat white was too bitter - it felt like the beans were overroasted. The cookie with matcha and white chocolate was great - not much sugar and had a nice green tea flavour. Overall this place may be good if you need a quick coffee but for a great experience I’d look elsewhere

This small specialty coffee shop in the center of Reims is located inside a shopping arcade. The ground floor is small with just a few tables and a tiny terrace, but upstairs there's a comfortable space with sofas where you can enjoy your coffee in peace and quiet. The cortado was delicious with a perfectly balanced acidity. The service was friendly and very attentive; they speak English, which is always a plus for non-native speakers.
JJ Dumonceau★★☆☆☆
Small cute coffee shop but... Just be careful if you're tourist. I'm french but my wife is Canadian, so we speak English. The attendant assumes I'm a tourist and she ask a tips for a service. In france, there's no tips. So be aware.

New coffee shop in town!! Hip interior, friendly owner (Erick), and great specialty coffee. A place to taste coffee from local coffee roasters: Moklair Torréfacteur and J'aime Thé Café. They also sell coffee beans, coffee equipment, and other local produce.

This is a lovely specialty coffee shop with quality coffee and the perfect atmostphere! They have lower cost with a few high quality varieties. As a roaster, they know all aspects of coffee! Loved the conversation on coffee. A must for those who love specialty coffee in france. The roast is a bit darker than some to please the french but less than normal cafe.

The coffee here is excellent, and they roast their own beans. I really enjoy the atmosphere, and the restroom is always clean.

Excellent Espresso, the owner is really knowledgeable in how to make real good espresso. Homemade cakes are also offered - they are really delicious. The cafe is a roastery as well since there is a big nice roaster where the owner roasts its coffee. We appreciated a lot that we could select different beans for the espresso. This is quite rare to our experience - usually cafe’s have not more than one other coffee bean to choose. In this Place we could choose from 6 different beans - each of them different with character and not deadly roasted beans Merveilleux Espresso! Thanks for the nice talk - much appreciated.

Alexey Subach★★★☆☆
The coffee looked great but wasn’t what I expected on the taste. It tasted a bit like soured cream and had a weird flavour, both for cappuccino and flat white. The atmosphere inside was nice. They ran out of pastries 30 min after opening time so don’t rely on anything else than coffee too.
Kate Trinh★★☆☆☆
Great coffee ☕️ we tried ice latte, cappuccino (oat milk +0,50€ ?) and americano. Our experience was completely ruined by the service today. The French waitress (with red hair and glasses) was incredibly snobbish, arrogant, and unfriendly. She seemed genuinely annoyed by our order and our choice of seating. We unknowingly sat in front of the roastery room where seating wasn't allowed, but instead of politely offering us an alternative, she spoke to us in a very condescending and rude tone. I will definitely not return to this cafe. Very disappointing.
Jessica Flinn★★★★★
Loved this little coffee shop. Such friendly staff and were patient with my terrible French. Had a gorgeous dirty lavender latte and noisette bun. Would recommend and thank you!
Harrison McFall-King★★★☆☆
The coffee itself is excellent - a solid 4.3/5 for the flat white. That said, it wasn’t filled to the top, which is worth noting (see photos). My main concern is with service and expectation-setting. We were told to expect a 5–10 minute wait, but it ended up being over 20 minutes. Given the delay, the coffee also felt rushed at the end, which showed in the pour. On a busy weekend, speed and service need to be sharper. When I politely asked whether I could collect my order the following day instead, the response was quite abrupt - not the experience you’d hope for. There’s real potential here, but the front-of-house experience needs to match the quality of what’s in the cup.
Joanna Cosnier★★★★★
Time stops when you go to Moklair. It's the ideal place for a relaxing break. You get to enjoy beautiful products, going from a wide variety of filter coffees to heartwarming latte variations. If you're not big on coffee you can enjoy a hot/cold chocolate, a selection of japanese teas and matcha, giving off strong umami vibes. You'll notice easily that the baristas are passionate about their job, they really know their stuff. This level of quality can require time, be patient on a busy day, it's well worth the wait. This isn't your standard coffee shop, it's clearly in another league.

I spent three weeks in Reims for a work trip and this was my absolute favourite brunch spot by far. A co-worker loved this place so much we went back three times! We chatted with the owners on our visits and we began to feel like regulars. It would have been four times but we tried on a weekend without reservation and there wasn’t room for 4 of us; honestly, I wasn’t surprised, so if you’re visiting on a weekend I’d recommend a reservation. Their sweet and savoury options are sooooo good. I had the braised lamb bowl, chicken and waffles, and their brioche French toast is to die for! I used to work in the restaurant industry and I’m a big foodie, their plates were so full of deliciousness in every corner. I loved their fresh apple/orange/ginger juice it was so healthy, their autumn cappuccino was delicious. If you’re in Reims, it’s an absolute must!

Very good lunch here if you are looking for something different. The pictures look very nice from all reviewers and tastewise, it's really delicious! I love the grilled cheese toast!
Benjamin Teo★★★★★
Great place! I only took photos of the mains but you'll notice the other reviews with great photos of the food and reviews. No, they don't scam people by asking them to leave a review and give a free item or a discount. Set meal we got was 1 main, 1 dessert, 1 hot drink and 1 cold drink. The set cost €32 each. The value for one is amazing. The food came in fast but hot. Only qualm I had was my waffle was a bit less warm than I had preferred. Drinks were all great, we had the matcha latte and golden latte which we guess was a spiced turmeric latte (how has no one made this a thing????) Service was very friendly even though the staff was busy with a heavy lunch crowd. Seems like there are 3 seating and it is recommended to make a reservation. We came slightly after 2pm and it seemed like a group had left so we didn't have to wait for a table. Worth coming back.

Great breakfast spot! Suggested by the Caserne Chanzy concierge, and it didn’t disappoint. Ordering was simple with their QR code menu, and the food was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
Manuela Jimenez de Arechaga★☆☆☆☆
Terrible service — well, equal to none, because everything is ordered through a screen anyway. Allergens and bread descriptions were completely wrong: what was listed as sourdough turned out to be milk bread. I asked for it to be changed, but they refused because apparently “their boss does not like it.” If your system and ingredient descriptions are incorrect, that’s not the customer’s mistake. Instead of taking accountability, the 4 waiters ignored me and wouldn’t even listen to what I was trying to explain. Absolute shitshow.
Marton Szabo★★★★☆
A nice location for brunch. We got loads of food through the brunch offer and it all tasted great. Service was fast and the experience through the QR code ordering was efficient. I only wish the drinks were slightly more elevated in quality, as my coffee was overly sweet and the ice tea was a bit weak. Very good brunch nonetheless.

A wonderful experience in a stunning setting! The architecture and interior design of this place are truly unique and create a fantastic atmosphere. The highlight of the meal was the beef Tartare. I loved the fact that you can assemble it entirely yourself—it’s rare to find a place that provides all the ingredients separately, from the egg yolk and onions to the capers, pickles, Worcestershire sauce, and Tabasco. It allowed me to create the perfect balance for my taste. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the house champagne was excellent. A must-visit in Reims for anyone who appreciates great food and a beautiful environment

Cafe du Palais was the most pleasant lunch we have had this far in our trip. The service was warm, welcoming, gracious and attentive. The selection on le carte was expansive and we enjoyed our choices fully. We would choose to dine here again! There is a reason they have been in business since 1930.

Meh, the experience didn't match the high Google rating. Duck confit was ok, but I got a nice piece of plastic (unwrapped for picture) at the top of my side salad which I didn't bother getting returned. The waiter also took forever to pour my champagne glass... After 35 minutes waiting and asking a few times, he finally filled it the first time. I get the check at the end and see I got charged for 2 glasses, which they did correct after I informed them. Just an ok lunch.

Lovely characterful vegetarian cafe. We had a lunch formula for €21 which included a main, a side, a cake and a drink. Very tasty and interesting food served in vintage crockery.

Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to enjoy lunch here, but I was surprised to be told that I was not welcome with two kids because the only available table (with two seats) was too small for me and my kids. I would have had my one-year-old on my lap. Therefore, I can’t comment on the food, but I was very disappointed with how we were welcomed.

Tips for Enjoying Aesthetic Cafes in Reims

A little preparation can transform a simple cafe visit into a seamless and memorable part of your Reims itinerary. The city’s most beautiful spaces often have distinct rhythms, and understanding these patterns will help you experience them at their best.

1. Visit on weekday mornings for the calmest atmosphere. Many of Reims’ most photogenic cafes become lively social hubs by late afternoon, especially on Saturdays. Arriving shortly after opening on a Tuesday or Wednesday often gives you the space to appreciate the interiors, take photos without disturbing others, and chat with staff.

2. Ask before taking photos of the interior or other guests. While aesthetic cafes are designed to be visually appealing, they remain working businesses and private spaces for many locals. A polite request to photograph the room—and avoiding shots that include identifiable strangers—shows respect and is almost always met with warmth.

3. Look beyond the classic espresso. Reims’ specialty cafes often shine brightest with slower preparations like the V60, Chemex, or a carefully textured flat white. Ordering something beyond a quick espresso allows you to appreciate the barista’s craft and gives you a reason to linger longer in the space.

4. Pair your drink with a signature pastry or brunch item. Many aesthetic cafes in Reims collaborate with local bakers or make their own patisserie in-house. Asking what is fresh or unique to the house often reveals a treat that complements both the visual and culinary experience.

5. Check social media for seasonal changes and special events. Several of Reims’ most stylish venues refresh their decor, menus, or floral arrangements with the seasons. A quick look at their latest posts can help you time your visit to catch a new installation or a limited-edition dessert.

6. Use the cafe as a starting point for exploring the neighborhood. The most memorable cafe experiences in Reims often happen when you allow the location to guide the rest of your day. A coffee near the Boulingrin market might lead to a morning of antique hunting, while a spot near the cathedral pairs perfectly with an afternoon of architectural wandering.

The beauty of Reims’ cafe scene lies in its ability to slow you down without making you feel idle. Each of the spaces above offers a distinct interpretation of what an aesthetic cafe can be—some lean into Scandinavian restraint, others into French opulence, and a few into raw, industrial charm.

As you explore, remember that the best moments are often unplanned: a particular angle of morning light on a marble table, a conversation with a barista about local roasters, or the unexpected calm of a hidden courtyard. Let the city’s rhythm guide you from one beautiful cup to the next.
