15 Best Cheap Hotels in Paris

Paris has a reputation for luxury, but you do not need a five-star budget to enjoy the City of Light. The French capital is surprisingly dense with affordable accommodation options that offer comfort, character, and convenient transport links. From artistic neighborhoods in the north to the historic streets of the Latin Quarter, there is a budget-friendly bed waiting for every type of traveler.

However, navigating the Parisian hotel market can be tricky. “Cheap” in Paris is relative; a low price should never mean sacrificing cleanliness, safety, or a reasonable commute to major landmarks like the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre. The key is knowing which arrondissements offer the best value and which hotels prioritize efficiency without feeling sterile.

We have analyzed guest reviews, location scores, and current market rates to compile a list of the best affordable stays. Whether you are a solo backpacker, a couple on a romantic getaway, or a family trying to stretch their euros, this guide balances price with practicality. These properties prove that you can spend less on sleep and more on croissants, museum passes, and memorable dinners.

The following selections are based on a combination of historical pricing data and consistent guest satisfaction. While rates fluctuate with the season—spiking in spring and summer and dipping in the dead of winter—these hotels generally maintain a reputation for value. They are ranked not just by the lowest possible price, but by the overall return on your investment.

We have prioritized locations that keep you connected to the metro system, saving you both time and transportation costs. Many of these picks are located in vibrant neighborhoods like Montmartre, the 11th arrondissement, and the Left Bank, where you can experience local life rather than a tourist bubble. You will find that a lower nightly rate often leads to discovering the city’s most authentic cafés and boutiques.

Here is our curated selection of the best cheap hotels in Paris, chosen for their distinct character, excellent hygiene standards, and unbeatable locations.

My friend and I booked a private two bed hostel for a single night. We payed 78 euros about 85 usd. When we arrived we were able to wait in the common areas which was nice. The handyman guy greeted us and was one of two of the nicest employees there. When we were finally able to check into the room it was awful. They don't give u a top sheet cause you have to rent that part and if you want a towel you have to pay three euros just to rent it and they are filthy. the towel was basically dark grey when it was originally white. the rooms were so stuffy and hot and even with the windows open it didn't help at all cause the other side of the hostel blocks any chance for air flow. I genuinely thought i was going to suffocate at night and maybe got two hours max of sleep. We came downstairs for a while and the guy working night shift was so sweet and an angel to us. On another note there is an older indian man and maybe an asian woman who are both very rude, more so the women. a girl behind us in the common area had got here a few hours early and was doing her makeup at a table and the lady came over and scolded her saying that this is a table for eating and nobody wants her to be doing her makeup on the table people eat on and that it's not polite. Keep in mind nobody eats lunch or dinner in here at all. only breakfast. Then a while later i pulled my comb out just to put my hair up in a clip and her, the indian man, and some other coworker came over to me and said the same thing that it was not polite to be brushing my hair at a table where people eat at. my head wasn't even over the table. In addition, i asked about the wifi and she said it was down and not working right now the morning of our checkout. i believe that they turn it off for everyone tho. and they also kick everyone out of their rooms it was very strange. she also came and yelled at a bunch of people at the tables to quiet down cause she's trying to do her job and work as the common area for hanging out is next to the lobby/ office area where they work. Very disappointed. i did stay here during the heat wave so that could effect how i feel but genuinely this place should not be allowed to be open. Whatever you do do not stay here and stay in a nicer hostel or hotel for a similar price instead. if i could go back i 100% would have done this

A tired, run down youth hostel in need of renovation. Staff friendly but security not a priority. Went for a wander in the morning before an 11am checkout and returned at 10:30am to find the door to the private room had been left wide open by housekeeping. Take all important belongings and documents with you. Breakfast is a push given it's a cheap demi baguette and a carton of orange juice. Would recommend paying slightly more and staying elsewhere!

I don’t understand why guests have to leave the rooms from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I was literally staying in the first room, yet they still wouldn’t let me in even when I needed to grab something. The room was small but nice, and it had a shower inside. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good too.
Sheikh Shafayat★★★☆☆
Let’s be honest: you get exactly what you pay for. The room was okay, but there was no bed sheet, which they said you have to rent. There was only one power outlet for four people’s room, which is absurd considering everyone in the room needs to charge their devices once they come back. The blankets were smelly and the basin would get clogged very quickly with water. But again for €72 for four people a night, I didn’t expect it to be much better.
Frederik Johnsin★★☆☆☆
Staff is nice, location too. That’s about it. The rooms are dirty, ours stank like a boys changing room. There was also mold and you have to pay 4€ for a bedsheet since the blankets are without any cover. Which is crazy. I’d also advise you not to put your luggage in the dedicated room for too long since it’s damp and moldy. Looks like a prison room. Honestly worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

I stayed at this hostel in Paris for 9 nights and overall my experience was very bad. The location is average: not great, not terrible. It is slightly far from my standards in terms of distance to the metro, but there is still a station relatively nearby, so the hostel remains reasonably connected to the city of Paris, even though it is in the city of Ivry. Unfortunately, cleanliness is the biggest issue. On multiple occasions I witnessed very poor hygiene practices. For example, a new guest was once assigned a bed that had clearly not been cleaned after the previous occupant, with unwashed sheets still on it. When this was pointed out, the staff simply moved the same dirty sheets onto another “clean” bed. The guest eventually had to request fresh linens and make the bed herself. In general, cleaning staff would every time place used sheets on clean beds in empty bunks, which made me request that my own sheets be changed in front of me. The bathroom situation was also problematic: there was only one shower for an 8-person room, which is far from sufficient. It was consistently dirty and poorly maintained. On the staff side, one male receptionist was overly familiar and intrusive. Every time I returned my room key, he would ask personal questions about my day, where I was going and if I needed anything. He also accompanied me into the room a couple of times and would open the door for me even after several days of my stay, when I was already familiar with the hostel. On a few occasions he even entered the room without knocking while I was resting (even when I just had a shower once), asked if everything was okay and then left after a brief exchange where I pretty much said nothing in order not to let him room for conversation. While likely intended as “helpful”, the behaviour felt uncomfortable and excessive. Security was also a concern. The luggage storage is a locked room, but access appears poorly controlled, with no clear verification of ownership when retrieving belongings. This made me feel uneasy leaving valuables there and I ended up carrying my laptop with me on checkout day for safety reasons. Overall, serious improvements are needed in cleanliness, hygiene standards, staff boundaries and security management.

don't go there, it was the worst hostel I have been in my life. The bath was really dirty, the shower wasn't working half the time, the service guy didn't gave us bedsheets just blankets. In our room there was a really bright sign shining the whole night and the cooler was running really loud the whole night, so it got way too cold. For real dont go there if you have any other options
Jonathan★☆☆☆☆
Would never stay here again. I thought that surely the reviews were all exaggerating (some of them I do still find a bit nitpicky), but I really have never felt this gross in any accommodation and I've done budget travel around the world. I went into this with the expectation that it wasn't going to be great, given the reviews, but it still managed to gross me out. The staff are fine, just be a decent human to them and they'll be nice back, but they still refuse to change sheets even if you ask. Thankfully I happened to have my own pillowcase along with me and something I could use as a bottom sheet. The entire bathroom area is sticky, slimy, and I only dared quickly dashing in when I really needed to pee. Definitely wasn't going to do a number 2 or touch the showers. The bedroom had more beds than the room I paid for and was filled with a hot, moist stench. Given they don't even change sheets between guests, you can tell they don't bother cleaning the rest of the room either, given the dirt-crusted floors and surfaces mounded with dust. I wouldn't have even minded that if the sheets weren't covered in hair, dirt, crumbs, and who knows what else. The rooms are definitely pretty warm at night, with little ventilation, but you can't expect air conditioning at a budget hostel so that's relatively fine. Oh, and by the way anyone can come in from outside 24/7 so just don't own any valuables 👍 (the few "lockers" in the room I definitely wouldn't trust, even if there had been one without an ancient, moulding sandwich in it). The staff have made comments about how you shouldn't expect more for the price. I still paid 30€/night though, considering you can get an ibis budget single hotel room on the other side of the city for 60€ I think it's fair to say "Trendy" Hostel is even overpriced. There are other hostels in the city, the 5€ more you might pay are well worth it. As for location, the metro is very nearby, so it's good for conveniently getting away from this place as fast as possible. I spent absolutely as little time as possible there, it's nicer to sit around in sketchy back alleys to relax after a full day than hang in the hostel, so I literally only slept there. Given that the Google account of the hostel has taken down past negative reviews and attacked reviewers in the replies, I'm posting this an unspecified amount of time after my stay, to hinder my identification.
Tiko★☆☆☆☆
Worst hostel I have been to. Its a room with 22 beds . 0 for cleanliness of entire place , specially the toilet and showers ( didn't shower for my entire stay 3 nights), no toilet door handles ( u go in toilet with door open), broken lockers. Owner or a worker comes anytime even at 10 , 11 pm or midnight bringing people making noises, second night he came at 11 pm saying I am not registered for the bed I was trying to sleep lol. Located in an industrial zone near an incenerator which i didnt check, perfect if you want to breath "clean air".
Umut Seiitbekova★☆☆☆☆
Very disappointing experience. I prepaid my booking, but when I arrived they told me their system was broken and that there were no available rooms. I was left without accommodation late in the evening in a foreign city. It has already been two days and they still have not returned my money. This situation is completely unacceptable and very stressful. Return my money immediately.

Only reason for a second star is the location. Perfect location if attending an event in Stade de France. Rooms are extremely small. Not even ground space for a suitcase. No fan or AC, extremely uncomfortable to be in the room during hot weather.
Olaf Thiele★★★★★
You get what you pay for. This is one of the cheapest hotels in Paris and feels more like a camp ground. Don't expect much. Don't go in hot weather, no ac and directly next to a highway. OK with closed windows, not open ones. Toilets can be dirty, because you share them. Bring bar of soap, they have towels. Staff are helpful and speak English. Generally safe, also at night. Feels worse in the city.
Jez Fontanilla★★★☆☆
There are no AC (air conditioning unit) in the room, just a small fan. So I don't recommend the hotel during summer season. Also during my stay they shutdown the elevator so i have to carry my luggages by stairs. 10 min walk to RER B.
Romain Petit★★★★★
Amazing stay! The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from check-in. The room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, with beautiful views of the city. Breakfast was delicious with fresh options. Perfect location near attractions and transport. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Paris — truly unforgettable!
Mohammed Riyaz★★★★☆
The room was clean and comfortable, with a cozy bed and a convenient wash basin inside. It was cleaned daily, which I really appreciated. The location is quite good — close to the RER B and metro — though it can be a bit difficult to access at night. The shared toilet was clean, but there wasn’t any space to place your clothes or towels, which was inconvenient. The shower room was also very clean and had a modern feel, but the water would stop every few seconds and adjusting the temperature was tricky/hard. Still, overall it was a decent stay for the price and location.

A Cozy, Affordable Gem in Paris – Highly Recommended! I stayed at hotelF1 for a total of 7 days, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, chill place to stay that won't break the bank. For Paris prices, the value you get here is an absolute steal! Location & Convenience The location in the Porte de Montreuil area is incredibly convenient. You're just a short 5 to 10-minute walk from the metro station, making it super easy to explore the city. Plus, there's a Carrefour supermarket and plenty of other stores right nearby, which was great for picking up daily essentials. Cleanliness I was very impressed with the upkeep. The rooms are cleaned every single day, so we always came back to fresh bathrooms and crisp bedsheets after a long day of walking around. Staff & Service The customer service truly stands out. The front desk is open 24/7, and the staff is super friendly and genuinely helpful—if you ever need anything extra, all you have to do is ask. A huge thank you to Sammy, the first staff member we met. He took the time to explain everything to us perfectly and even helped us navigate the local area right from the start. Vibe & Amenities There’s a really great, diverse atmosphere here with guests visiting from all over the world. While I didn't try the lunch option during my stay, given how well-run the rest of the hotel is, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. If you want a comfortable, budget-friendly stay with fantastic service in Paris, this is the place!
Julia van Nieuwkoop★★★★☆
My honest opnion: It is a great hotel. The service is amazing, Samin was so kind and the other staff also. We got clean towels and room service came every 2 days. It is in fact a really small room but it has everything you need. A bed, a toilet, a shower and a sink. Everything is clean. The location is okay. The neighbourhood is under construction and it is pretty dirty with alot of garbage laying around. +point 5-10 minute walk to the metro station. Overall pretty nice hotel!
Daniel Safarian★☆☆☆☆
I honestly don’t know how this place is rated as is, it should be lower. The staff and cleanliness of the rooms are honestly fine, but the hotel is cheaping out hard in terms of the infrastrucutre. Flooded showers, toilets that flush only when they feel like it, and blocked drains. The hotel itself while is in s conveniant location near a metro, the region itself it sketchy at all times, especially at night and on Sundays (due to a huge peoples’ market ran by seemingly illegal migrants)
Karl Rogers★☆☆☆☆
Staff are down right completely rude, tried to be reasonable about them about a room issue but they wouldn't listen. The rooms are very very basic and have no bathrooms. Very very unsuitable for accessible users. Literally feel unsafe to stay here. Had to call booking.com to complain about getting a refund due to feeling unsafe in this hotel. Staff constantly blaming us for the issues rather than finding a solution. Definitely DO NOT recommend to anyone thinking about staying! It's an absolute joke of a place and the staff are absolutely rude and horrible.
Yan Tremblay-Poisson★☆☆☆☆
Overall below expectations. Cleanliness is a concern: we found blood stains on the sheets upon arrival, which is unsettling. The shared bathrooms (toilets and showers) also lack regular maintenance. That said, we did not find any signs of bed bugs despite checking. Comfort is limited, particularly due to poor sound insulation. Noise from neighboring rooms and outside is easily heard, which affects sleep. We were also woken up multiple times during the night by arguments outside. The area is quite lively, especially at night, with noticeable street noise. In addition, deliveries for the shopping center across the street create further noise late at night or early in the morning. Robespierre metro station is about a 10-minute walk away. Overall, a disappointing experience, mainly due to cleanliness and noise issues.

Cozy and clean hotel in a cute, professional commuter neighborhood south of Paris (~50 mins on the metro). The service and breakfast were outstanding, and the rooms quite spacious for Paris. The room amenities were very modern and overall very clean. The air conditioning is controlled by the hotel centrally for all the rooms so if you prefer a very cool room, this may not be the place for you. However, when I stayed it wasn’t too hot outside so I was fine. The beds and linens are very comfortable. The staff was kind and gracious. Would stay again. Merci beaucoup!
Pavan Kumar Nallam★★★★★
Possibly the best hotel that we stayed in paris We recently stayed at Hôtel Piapia, and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had in Paris! While room sizes in Paris are naturally on the compact side, our room here was immaculate. Everything felt completely fresh, super tidy, and freshly furnished. The cleanliness throughout the entire property is genuinely top-tier. A few thoughtful details really blew us away: Amazing Air Conditioning: We happened to visit on some of the hottest days of the summer, so having strong, reliable AC in the room was a complete lifesaver after walking around all day. Dedicated Water Refill Station: Most hotels in Europe expect you to refill water bottles from the bathroom tap, but Piapia has a dedicated station in the lobby where you can get unlimited fresh water whenever you want. This was such a fantastic, thoughtful touch—especially during a summer heatwave! Spotless Facilities & Luggage Storage: We left our luggage at the hotel after checking out to enjoy our last few hours in the city. When we came back to pick up our bags, we used the common lobby restrooms and were so impressed—they were kept just as pristine and clean as the rooms themselves. Great Location: It’s super convenient and situated in a lovely area, just a quick 6-minute walk to the nearest metro station, making it easy to get anywhere in Paris. From the incredible cleanliness to all the small touches that make travel comfortable, everything was top-notch. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Tamara Foullier★★★★★
My daughter and I had the most lovely stay at PiaPia. Just flawless. Even thoug it is not located at the centre of Paris, it is a quiet neighbourhood with great connections to the centre in minutes. Very aesthetic. The shower and the bed were the Nirvana. Super clean and the staff...supper polite and attentive. 10 out of 10!
Diana Black★★★★★
An incredible stay! This was the best option for my trip to Paris. It was 35°C+ outside for 5 days, and this hotel was a total oasis. The AC worked flawlessly, and coming back to a fresh, clean, and cool room felt amazing. I slept perfectly here! Honestly, I’ve stayed in higher-star hotels that didn’t have beds or pillows this comfortable. The service was top-notch with daily housekeeping and fresh towels on request. The bathroom is great, complete with Rituals cosmetics. Yes, the shower and toilet area is small, but come on - for a solo traveler, this is an absolutely luxurious setup for Paris. The room had everything I needed, including a TV and a small wardrobe. While the location is a bit far from the center, the metro is literally a 2-minute walk away, and there are shops nearby for snacks and drinks. Perfect place, I am absolutely delighted!
Ellen Kamps★★★★★
Economical pricing and easy check-in, amazing amenities, very kind English speaking-staff. Traveled from USA to Paris and wanted to be outside of the main tourist areas, but still in lovely and safe residential area with bustle and cafes! Arrived at CDG and traveled to Hotel PiaPia all by train - very easy! We did early check-in, recommended if available. Room was clean, spacious, air conditioned, with a bathtub! Very clean room, delicious breakfast buffet for additional price. Highly recommended for your trip to Paris! Near trains to the main attractions & back to the airport when it is time to return back to the States.

Great location for exploring the city but also seeing a little of ‘real’ Parisiennes and there are great local coffee shops and affordable restaurants. The hotel is comfortable but the main feature is the wonderful staff and the breakfast. Tej in the breakfast room greets everyone and the food is excellent and plentiful. The front desk staff are helpful and always available too. Just a great stay for all the family - we had grandparents and kids with us and everyone was very happy with the stay (and the air conditioning)

I had a wonderful stay at Hôtel Astoria - Astotel during my trip to Paris. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in a great location for exploring the city. The rooms were well-maintained, and the staff consistently provided excellent service throughout my stay. A special thank you to TJ, who worked the breakfast service in the mornings. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful every day. TJ always had a smile on his face, made jokes, and created such a positive atmosphere. His great attitude and genuine hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paris and would happily stay here again. Thank you to the entire team for making my trip memorable!

We had the nicest time at this hotel. The rooms are spacious for Paris and comfortable. There are complementary snacks and water at the reception, and there is complementary water and juice in all of the rooms. The hotel is located within walking distance to a metro station and within walking distance to several major landmarks. The staff is multi lingual, helpful and kind. TJ the breakfast room server is especially wonderful.

After almost six years, it was wonderful to be back in Paris. For this trip (5–8 August 2026), I stayed at Hotel Astoria - Astotel. I usually stay at Hôtel Astra Opéra - Astotel, but this time my secretary accidentally booked a different Astotel property. Looking back, it turned out to be a happy mistake. From the moment I arrived, the warm welcome and attentive service reminded me why I keep coming back to Astotel. The standards are consistently excellent, no matter which hotel you choose. I also appreciated the hotel’s security—guests need a key card to enter the building, which made me feel safe and comfortable throughout my stay. This experience confirmed one thing: whether it’s Hôtel Astra Opéra, Hotel Astoria, or another Astotel property, I know I’ll always receive the same outstanding hospitality.

This hotel was perfect for our family holiday in January 2026. We had adjoining rooms, there was plenty of space in both rooms. We had breakfast included which was great, each morning we were warmly greeted by name. The hotel is walkable to many tourist spots but also far enough away for us to immerse ourselves in the local area. The train station was conveniently located just a short walk away.

Is close to train station, about the only positive. Had a 2nd floor room and trying to carry bags up was extremely difficult with the spiral staircase with a wobby railing. Bed is the worst i have slept on, it sunk in the middle so kept rolling onto my husband. Had no spring what so ever. Room was small and just no space to put anything. The area was a bit dodgy, but not as bad as other areas I've stayed in. Breakfast was very very basic, but coffee nice and hot and strong. Wouldn't stay there again.

Very bad rooms, not clean at all. There were hairs on the bed and bugs in the room. The bathroom was dirty as well. The rooms are very small and there is no air conditioning. There is also no elevator, so we had to carry our suitcases up to the 4th floor. Everything is old and poorly maintained. The staff are slow to understand things. I would not recommend staying here. We booked another hotel because it was so dirty. For about €50 more, you can find much better hotels in Paris.

"The hotel was not very clean or comfortable. The room was cold, the heater didn’t work, and the bedding and towels were old and worn. Breakfast was very limited. I had a very good experience at this hotel with a reasonable price for the quality of service. The room was clean, airy, and well-equipped with basic amenities. The staff were friendly, kind, and always willing to help, especially with flexible early check-in and late check-out, which was very convenient. The room offered a nice view of the street/city, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The hotel’s location is convenient for getting around, dining, and sightseeing. Overall, it is great value for money 👍.

The staff were very rude. I had a leak in my room the first night and their suggested solution was to “not put anyone in the room above me.” And when I insisted on moving because I had items I did not want to get wet, they moved me to the room above the previous one. All they did to fix the leak was to put clear silicone in the shower. Then the next day, they ask me to leave my room’s key with them claiming it was policy. This was not the case since the previous day nor at check in they had made no such claims. They then pointed to a sign saying that the rule was in the sign. I used chat gpt to translate the sign and they were lying. They claimed it was for room service. I told them I didn’t need room service. The next day I find that my towels have been changed. Luckily I had the foresight to take anything of value with me. The staff were clearly lying and trying to rob me.

I cancelled a shared room to get a private room in this hotel. I thought I would finally get some needed sleep but when I arrived in the room, the floors weren't the most hygienic and when I got between the sheets I started itching. I only read the reviews after and confirmed there were claims for bed bugs. I had to book another hotel again. I didn't bother asking for a refund as the reviews said the management doesn't allow it. I returned the keys and told the guy I was checking out. He just smiled and said 'Thank you' like it was a common thing and I guess, 'thanks for the free money.' Apparently, they have the discretion of not asking a review from you in booking.com. So I'm leaving my review here.

A cheap hotel in an okay location. Recent paint makes the rooms look a little better than previous reviews. The hotel offers 24x7 reception service and they are very helpful. The staircase is narrow and spiral , just borderline enough to let you carry a mid sized luggage over. The location is 8km from most attractions in paris and is in zone 1. There are lots of amazing vietnamese restaurants in this locality. Shared Washrooms suffer from space crunch

Our family of four arrived in Paris from Rome and were very pleased with our stay at Les Patios du Marais. The apartment was exactly as described and pictured, making it easy to settle in after our travels. The location was outstanding and one of the highlights of our stay. We were able to explore much of Paris on foot, and when needed, both the Metro and taxis were conveniently close by. We also appreciated the thoughtfulness of our host during the extreme heat wave. Two fans had been set up and were already running when we arrived, making the apartment as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. While the unusually high temperatures meant we didn’t spend much downtime inside the apartment, we enjoyed relaxing in the charming outdoor courtyard and covered hallways, where the café tables and chairs provided a pleasant, cooler place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Overall, this was an excellent home base for exploring Paris. Between the convenient location, comfortable accommodations, and attentive host, we would happily stay here again and recommend Les Patios du Marais to other travelers.

Great Location if you have a short amount of time to visit Paris! The rooms are also very clean, well maintained, and well decorated. If you are planning to book make sure that you have no problems with stairs, ours was on the 4th floor and they are very steep. We had no problems with them but other people might. The only problem I had was the service. There was a heatwave the days we were here and all I asked for was one more fan, not even for them to fix the AC, to make our stay more comfortable. All I got was that they had reached out to the “team”. I understand other people might be asking for the same but just tell us that you cant so we dont keep waiting. Anyway this stay would probably be one of the best if there was no heatwave! 🤣 If you are sensitive to heat and plan on going in the summer, find a different hotel that specifically has AC

Lovely little apartment. It was great for 3 of us. Very clean, beds very comfortable. Great location, just down the stairs we had 3 little cafes for morning coffee options, a boulangerie for all kinds of wonderful pastries, many lunch and dinner options, a wine bar. walking distance too the Louvre, the Hop o Hop off Bus. etc. We are very happy with our choice.

I was a little hesitant to book after reading some of the reviews, but I’m so glad I did. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The moment I walked in, everything smelled fresh and clean, which immediately put me at ease. As someone who used to work in property management, I know what signs to look for when it comes to cleanliness and potential pest issues. I did a thorough check of the room and found absolutely nothing concerning. The hotel itself is charming, the location is fantastic, and it offers excellent value for the price. I noticed some reviews mentioning that the rooms are small, but honestly, the room size felt very normal for Paris standards. If you’re expecting a typical Paris hotel room, you’ll likely find it perfectly comfortable. I do agree with one of the other reviews regarding the stairs. We stayed on the 5th floor, so it’s worth considering your mobility and luggage size when booking. If you’re healthy, able, and don’t mind a few flights of stairs, our 5th-floor room was great and well worth it. I can also see where some guests may have concerns about the level of service, as this is a self-check-in property. If you’re not particularly tech-savvy or prefer a traditional front desk experience, it may not be the best fit. However, for my husband and me (in our 30s and 40s), the process was incredibly easy and honestly something we preferred. It was quick, seamless, and much faster than waiting to check in with staff. Overall, this is a clean, cute hotel in a fantastic location that offers great value for the price. We had a wonderful stay and would happily stay here again.

As it was the middle of a very hot heatwave and temps were up to 40°c the "Iceluxe" unit did not really cut it. The studio is on the top floor (4th) and the main bed has v limited head space between it and the roof of the building.. so it was hot, hot hot!!. The decor of the studio is good and the building has a rustic charm. The shaded communal patios were a god send. However considering the wider situation not having in person reception or contact for reassurance and local knowledge was a noticeable deficit.

The location to the metro was quick and that way you can get to anywhere in Paris. I also liked that it's not a super touristic area so I got to see how locals lived and not just tourists. The staff were very nice, the allowed me checkout and leave my luggage in the reception area till 4pm. I was happy about that. Also, they tried their best to make it clean so that was also good. The day I checked in, they had just cleaned it and during my stay, the bathroom and toilet was cleaned regularly There's a lot they need to fix. The first thing is, they don't specify the number of people it would be in the room on the listing, it's for 10 people, if they had said that, I probably wouldn't have accepted to stay there 10 people in a room with zero ventilation is too much. It was quite hot and no air conditioner, not even a fan was provided and it was very stuffy and the room smelled because 8 of us were there and no ventilation The only window opened to the street and it was loud and noisy as cars passed by, if a fan was provided at least then we wouldn't need to open the windows. The bathroom was so small, usually this doesn't bother me as I know I'm paying for a hostel and not expecting luxury, but the size of the bathroom was so small that it was difficult to take a shower and there's nothing to keep soap, not even hang your towel in the bathroom and this is interesting because it says it's a woman's hostel. Women always need shampoo and other stuff in the bathroom yet nothing is placed there for use?? Another thing I found interesting was the trash bin, it was only one and it was in the bedroom, so if for example you used something sanitary in the bathroom, you put in the bedroom trash bin which will start to smell, so they need a bin in the bathroom/toilet And lastly, they literally sent me a message few days before I got there that it was a women's hostel and men won't be allowed. I was surprised to see men check in the hostel, not in the girls room though but still, why say it's a woman's hostel if it's not?? Again, this isn't an issue for me as I can stay even in a mixed hostel but why the false advertisement?

Honestly, for your sanity just please do not stay here. I wouldn’t wish a stay here on my worst enemy. Right off the bat, the photos of the rooms online are not accurate at all and the ratings on booking.com are definitely inflated. We reserved a room here for 3 nights, it was around 350 euro total. Now I understand this is meant to be a budget hotel, but this place is not even worth a fraction of that price. Upon arriving to the room, I was genuinely flabbergasted when I opened the door. I haven’t seen a room to this quality since visiting frat houses in college. The place was so run down and just grimy. I understand it’s an old building but you can tell there’s no care put into upkeep of the building itself. A bathroom was haphazardly built into the bedroom, and there is no way it’s up to fire code as the toilet was practically hanging out of the door. I don’t even know where to begin with describing the rest of the room, so just please take a look at the pictures and see for yourself. I didn’t take a picture of the bed which was surprisingly the least horrible aspect of the room. I can tell they try to clean surfaces and I did come across a guy who was cleaning the floors in the hallway and was pretty friendly. However the whole place just has a grimy, permanently dirty feel that can only be accomplished by decades of neglect. One of the only redeeming aspects was that there was a fan in the room which was absolutely needed as it was about 95 degrees Fahrenheit in Paris. Before we even went to bed on the first night, my husband and I decided to look at other accommodations in Paris. I honestly couldn’t put up with 3 nights in this place. I’ll give it to them, they have a pretty good location but I’d rather stay anywhere else, even if it was far from the city center which is what we ended up doing. In the morning, my husband and I swiftly packed our bags and went to check out. My husband alerted the man at the front desk that we would be checking out early because we were unhappy with the state of the room. I can tell they get this quite often because all the guy said was “okay, sorry, bye bye.” Later on my husband did message the hotel asking if we could get any kind of refund for the two nights we didn’t stay there, and they said no. I guess it makes sense because it was our choice to leave but I’m honestly still mad they got to keep our money. I think there’s a thin line between a budget hotel/hostel, and somewhere that’s just straight up unacceptable to charge guests for. This place falls into the latter category. Please just do yourself a favor and don’t give this place any of your money.

This property is old, it does not look as nice in person as the pictures shown. The room was equal to a 50 year old run down motel. Shower grout black, light in bathroom didn’t work, only warm water for one shower cold for the second and very much in an under cleaned under kept state. Sent a message to the “Hotel” through an app and had no response. I would not recommend nor would I return to this “Hotel”. Staff were very disinterested in our concerns. Also did not clean the room, not because we didn’t want it cleaned but because we took the key. They didn’t mention this in checkin or any other time until we approached them. Big thumbs down. The area was awesome, that’s their saving grace.

This place was disgusting. Our first room had no working toilet and no towels. Luckily the receptionist gave us towels but, after we informed them of the non-working toilet, we got switched to another room with bed bugs. The rooms are small which is expected in Europe. There is no AC and only one radiator heater in the room. Curtains have stains and a pungent smell. Area is central to everything but do not recommend unless you are okay with bed bugs and weird smells

It sucked a lot. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! The guy at the reception was nice and the hotel is quite close to the city centre. But the rest - an utter disaster. Let me provide you with further details: 1. BATHROOM There were two toilets but one of them did not have a toilet seat (it was in the female dormitory). On the bathroom floor there were moisty stinky towels that are probably there since the beginning of time and were obviously never changed for clean ones. You were supposed to touch these moisty filthy pieces of cloth with your feet and risk a feet infection... Which I obviously did not do so I jumped from the door directly in the shower to avoid this junk. 2. DIRT They do not take rubbish out. The floor is dirty. The shelves and lockers are dirty. It smells bad. 3. WALLS Black mold everywhere. The plastering falling away (in bubbles which pop - that means it is moisty). 4. FACILITIES There was a microwave but no dishes. Oh wait, there were dishes but dirty and there was no option to clean them because there were no sponge nor soap. Lockers were dirty, in one of them were even bread crumbles. There were no hangers. In the bathroom there was no option to put your clothes on - just a door handle which is too low so your towel touches the ew filthy ground. The curtains at the widows do not block the light AT ALL. The curtains around your walls cannot be properly moved - the curtain was constantly standing in my way when I wanted to climb the ladder on my bed. There was no proper duvet cover just a piece of cloth you were supposed to... Snuggle in? No idea. Ew and ew

Every day when we returned to our room at night, there was an ugly smell coming from the drain in the shower. And the supposedly working AC fan did not do anything at all. Luckily, we brought our own fan, otherwise we would have not been able to sleep at all at night. Our stay was during a heat wave, but even with that the AC was not working. We booked a room with the bunk bed above for our son, but we're surprised we had to put the sheets ourselves. And every day they made our bed, but not his.
Maria Span★☆☆☆☆
Terrible experience from start to finish. The rooms are absurdly small, with a toilet and shower practically in the room—zero privacy, zero comfort. Paying €100 a night for something this subpar is already questionable, but it gets worse. Sleep? Forget it. Housekeeping starts harassing you at 8am, knocking repeatedly like it’s an emergency. Sure, we didn’t ask for a “do not disturb” sign—but what kind of hotel thinks 8am is an acceptable time to start banging on guests’ doors? And on the days they weren’t knocking, they were making enough noise from 7am in nearby rooms to wake the entire floor. Then there’s the noise from other guests. The walls might as well be made of paper—you hear everything. Every conversation, every movement. We didn’t sleep past 8am a single day, which completely defeats the point when you’re in a city where you walk all day and actually need rest. This place charges like a hotel but delivers less than a hostel. Do yourself a favor and book an Airbnb instead of this joke.

Great budget hotel in Paris. Everything as expected given that I had to book it last minute. However it was really hot and the AC wouldn’t work and on enquiring I was told that AC is allowed only in the summer. And the hotel description clearly mentions there is air conditioning available. Have booked it directly on Accor website/app.

Clean, nice location and small but ok room. Didn't love the shower in the room situation but it is what it is (was traveling with family so a bit awkward as you can kind of see the other person showering). Clean though and quiet. All around ok. Very very nice employees, helpful and kind.

Very disappointing for €130 per night. The room was dirty, extremely small, and looked nothing like the photos. It felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Definitely not worth the price.

The location is perfect, in a great area with plenty of bars, restaurants, shopping centres, and hotels. It feels very safe, even late at night, and is close to both the metro and bus stations. The hotel itself is in good condition compared to many other hotels, and the breakfast is good. It is a bit pricey, but keep in mind that this isn't a typical Ibis Budget hotel—it's a proper 3-star hotel, so the price reflects the higher standard. A special shout-out to the manager, François, who is an absolute star. He is incredibly helpful, service-minded, and professional. He solved every problem we had. When we had an issue with the sink late in the afternoon and there was no technician on site, he grabbed a bucket and fixed it himself. Give this man a raise! He truly made our stay unforgettable.

From the moment we entered, we were treated like friends. The check-in process was quick and we went straight up to our room. The rooms are a good size, clean and everything (including the shower) works. The Wifi connection is excellent. As Paris is expensive, we chose to have breakfast in the hotel - great choice of food, and good value for €14. And overall, considering the price of most hotels in Paris, this Ibis was great overall value for money and a great location for anyone catching a train from Montparnasse.

Great stay. Canuck perspective; Rooms aren't the Ritz (not much ventilation, but we had a window) -but you know that when booking. Most hotels are smaller rooms in Paris. Room was nice and clean. Great shower. Hotel is set up to handle luggage services quite well. We were early and had our baggage stowed. The room was made available when clean, and we had great service and help from Daro at the front desk. She got our bags to our luggage forwarder 🙏 and made sure we were taken care of. The optional breakfast is decent and infinitely better than wandering. Especially if you have dietary concerns. Would recommend. Thank you folks.

I chose this hotel because it was close to train station Montparnasse. The room was clean and quite large by Paris standards. The breakfast buffet was quite good with the choice of hot and cold dishes. My only complaint was the group of young drunks who decided to sing at 3 am in the morning, waking me up from a deep sleep! Otherwise the hotel was quite comfortable and central to everything in Paris.

Not the best of areas, but very convenient if you are going to a concert at Zenith. The staff were absolutely lovely, especially the girls on reception. Super smiley and friendly. All areas were kept clean. The room was spotless and was nicely decorated. Modern and bright. The bed was super comfortable. Supermarket right outside. Crimee metro is about 5 mins walk, if that. All in all, we had a nice stay at the hotel.

I stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of June to start my trip around Europe. My first impression, I was taken aback by the room I was in, it was VERY compact, and it perhaps could have done with a hoover beforehand as the floor was very dusty. My one real annoyance was the shower which was tiny, despite me not being the biggest person. But on the other hand I was amazed at how smartly the room used the little space it had. Despite the hotel being on a busy street, the room itself was quiet and the bed very comfortable. The staff were brilliant. The hotel itself is ideally situated, it's away from the touristy areas, yet only a short hop away from the Louvre (which I used as my start off point each day) on the fantastic Paris Metro.

This hotel was great for our needs since we had a car and needed parking. It is located in the 19th arrondissement, so it’s far from a lot of the tourist areas but very close to the airport. There are nearby Metro stops that will take you to the center of Paris. Hotel was nice, clean, had parking, and a great breakfast. Rooms are very small, but that is typical in Europe. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Overall, we had a good stay!

I’m looking back through my photographs of Wikimania 2026, which took place at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, a 10 minute walk from the hotel. This location was a massive plus…and its proximity to rental bikes, the metro and the trams (not to forget the lovely Canal St Denis) meant that I could explore Paris and enjoy the conference. Conveniences like these made this place far more than just a place to retreat from a conference. I’m not quite sure who I should thank for this, because this seemed like a team effort. The Wikimedia Foundation (who awarded me a scholarship) went out of their way to make sure that people like me (on long journeys) were looked after. And the front desk and dining staff created a warm and friendly environment that made you feel welcome and at home. Altogether Campanille La Villette was an unexpected pleasure. Highly recommended.

As other travelers have noted...if you come from the Republique train station, you may be questioning your decision as you are walking to the hotel. There is a lot of "culture" at that station, depending on the time of day. Just ignore it and keep going. The hotel is lovely and has the sweetest people at the front desk. They helped order our taxi for our trip back to CDG on our return trip home (make sure to order it the day before you need to leave). If you walk toward the Marais district, you'll find lovely restaurants all along the way, but you won't pay Marais district prices for this hotel. The room is very clean and has all the typical amenities of a European hotel (specifically, no washcloths and a shower with no door that gets water everywhere...that's just how the showers are in Europe). Overall, we were so pleased at this location for the price we needed to be at (we needed a room for 3 people). Close to Arts de Métiers, and Republique Metro stations. The breakfast is worth it only if you need to eat early (which we did on our Versailles day...the rest of the days, I would recommend eating elsewhere). It was a true continental breakfast with toast, croissants, and machine coffee. Fine when you're in a pinch, but there are other great breakfast places if you can wait until 7am when they open (specifically, Le Sancerre and Café de la Mairie on Rue de Archives & Rue de Bretagne...5 minute walk from the hotel).

We can only agree with the many positive reviews. The hotel is in a really great and very central location. Metro and bus stops are just a few minutes away on foot, and there are plenty of excellent restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and, of course, fantastic boulangeries nearby. We deliberately didn’t book breakfast – with so many great bakeries in the area, it would almost have been a shame to have breakfast at the hotel. It’s also a lovely way to experience a bit more of authentic Paris in the morning. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and always available whenever we had a question or needed anything. If we had to mention anything that could be improved, it would only be small details: the shower head in our room didn’t stay properly in its holder, and there was no small washbasin in the separate toilet. In a family room, a small fridge would also have been very useful. But these are really minor points and very much complaining at a high level. Overall, a great place to stay in an excellent location, and we would happily book it again.

Chouette Hotel was the perfect home base for our stay in Paris. The hotel is charming, clean, and beautifully decorated, creating a cozy atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, allowing us to relax after long days exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was the location. Situated in the 15th arrondissement and just a short walk from the Convention metro station, the hotel made it incredibly easy to reach all of Paris’s major attractions while still enjoying a more peaceful neighborhood filled with cafés, bakeries, and local shops. Guests consistently praise its convenient location and welcoming staff. It is 8 minutes walk to Metro Line 12 (Convention), and 15 minutes walk to Metro Line 13 (Plaisance) The staff members were warm, professional, and always happy to help with recommendations and directions. Their hospitality made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. The hotel also offers excellent value for money, combining comfort, cleanliness, and convenience in one of Paris’s most pleasant neighborhoods. If you are looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel with friendly service and easy access to public transportation, Chouette Hotel is an excellent choice. We would gladly stay here again on our next trip to Paris.

The best hotel I’ve ever stayed out. We felt very safe and comfortable. There was AC, an elevator, all amenities you could need including a cold water refill station. Essential Tips for Booking Cheap Hotels in Paris

Finding a low rate is only half the battle; ensuring you get a good night’s sleep and a stress-free experience is the other. The Parisian hotel market is unique, with specific quirks regarding room sizes, elevator access, and seasonal pricing.

To help you secure the best possible stay without breaking the bank, we have compiled these expert strategies for navigating the budget hotel scene in the capital.

1). Embrace the “Metro Map” Mentality

Do not obsess over staying next to the Eiffel Tower. Paris is compact, and the metro is incredibly efficient. A hotel in the 11th, 12th, or 20th arrondissement will often be significantly cheaper than one in the 1st or 8th, yet you can reach the center in under 20 minutes. Prioritize hotels within a 5-minute walk of a major metro hub.

2). Understand the “Chambre” Size

Space is a luxury in Paris, and budget hotels reflect this. Rooms can be notoriously small. Before booking, check the square footage (m²) in the listing. If you have large suitcases, ensure the room has enough floor space to open them, or consider booking a “twin” room even if you are a couple to maximize floor area.

3). Leverage Breakfast Economics

A hotel breakfast in Paris can cost between €10 and €15 per person. That is often a poor value. For the same price, you can step outside to a local boulangerie for a fresh croissant and coffee for under €5. Unless breakfast is explicitly included for free, plan to eat like a local to keep your daily costs low.

4). Check for the Elevator (Ascenseur)

Many budget hotels occupy historic Haussmannian buildings that lack elevators or have elevators so tiny they fit only one person and a bag. If you have mobility issues or heavy luggage, filter your search specifically for “elevator” or “ground floor” rooms to avoid a six-floor walk-up.

5). Travel in the Shoulder Season

Paris is expensive in May, June, September, and during the Christmas holidays. To find the lowest rates, consider visiting in January, February, or November. Not only are hotel prices lower, but you will also face shorter queues at museums and a more relaxed atmosphere in restaurants.

Paris rewards the savvy traveler. By choosing accommodation wisely, you free up your budget for the experiences that truly matter—lingering over a glass of wine at a sidewalk café, exploring the hidden passages, or indulging in a world-class meal. A cheap hotel does not mean a cheap experience; it means a smarter way to see one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

Remember that the best trips are often defined by the neighborhood you wake up in, not just the thread count of the sheets. With a little research and the right expectations, you can find a clean, safe, and charming base for your Parisian adventure that leaves your wallet just as happy as your heart.
