15 Best Wine Bars in Logroño

Logroño, the capital of La Rioja, is a city that lives and breathes wine. While the surrounding vineyards produce some of the world’s most celebrated Tempranillo, the true soul of the city can be found in its historic center.

Here, the tradition of "ir de pinchos" is not just a meal; it is a social ritual. Narrow medieval streets, particularly the famous Calle del Laurel and Calle San Juan, are packed with bustling establishments.

Navigating this dense concentration of bars can be overwhelming for first-time visitors. The sheer volume of options, each boasting barrels of aging wine and glass cases full of tantalizing tapas, is a feast for the senses.

To truly appreciate the local culture, one must understand that wine is not an afterthought here; it is the main event. The best bars in Logroño take their vino por copa as seriously as their food.

This guide curates a list of venues that excel in atmosphere, authenticity, and viticultural excellence. Whether you are seeking a crisp white, a robust crianza, or a rare vintage, these spots offer the pinnacle of Riojan hospitality.

From historic institutions to modern tasting rooms, these are the places where locals stand shoulder-to-shoulder, sharing stories and toasting to the good life. Let this be your starting point for a memorable evening in the culinary capital of northern Spain.

Super love this place. Awesome vibes, good drinks, cool music (80's), nice indoor tables and an airconditioner! Isaac was very attentive and hospitable. We loved their different kinds of gildas and the gorgonzola cheese on a cone was the bomb! Hands down our favorite bar in Calle San Juan. Will definitely be back

I absolutely loved your bar! ❤️ An incredible selection of wines by the glass, such a charming atmosphere, and everything served in Riedel — sophisticated and cool at the same time. We were attended to by Txorin (hope I spelled it right!) with such warmth and knowledge that he turned the night into something really special. And the fair prices were the perfect finishing touch!!! 🌟🌟🌟

We came here two nights in a row because of the amazing service and food. All the wine recommendations we had were perfect. We tried the Gambas Crystal, Zamburiñas, and Ostras Al Cava. All the food was perfectly cooked and served. Highly recommend everyone stopping in for the phenomenal food and friendly service.

The food was good, but we were the most thankful to our amazing waiter. His English was perfect, he was very kind and explained everything to us about the dishes. So the experience was simply pleasant thanks to him.
Robert Rychlik★★★★☆
We visited this place out of a friend recommendation. And we been there twice night after night. First experience was fenomenal, we tasted very good tortilla and a dish local mushrooms. Superb selection on wines and very good atmosphere. Second time was not so great, there was a bigger event happening after we came…. Anyway, I would return there. very knowledgeable staff, friendly and hardworking. They have amazing selection of wines per glass (i saw around 20 whites, 10 reds and some rose and sparkling/cava. Bottle selection seems unlimited. Food selection is also very good, but in the evening you will need wait till 8pm to order food.
Q G★★★★☆
Very good selection of wines by the glass, perfect for trying and discovering interesting labels. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat anything because the place was packed, and it took me a long time to be able to order. The décor is nice and well thought out, but due to the large crowd, I found it quite noisy. I believe the experience would be much better at a quieter time.
Luis Crespo★★★★★
What better way to enjoy the Rioja wine region, than a restaurant named Wine Fandango? Located between the center and the historical city, the environment is very welcoming, making you feel as if you're at a friend's villa. Service is exquisite, the food very palatable, and the most amazing thing, it's not that expensive. Definitely recommend.
Mister Morelight★★★★★
We highly recommend Wine Fandango in Logroño. In a town dedicated to the quick tapas, Fandango is a more tranquil, sophisticated and elegant table. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building but never feels like it. There is a descending staircase with levels for the terrace before entering. The entrance features both a spectacular half-moon shaped wine cellar. Opposite, the bar is equally spectacular with side panels that lift all the way up to the ceiling with different alcool bottles. We were quickly seated and well assisted with the menu. All dishes were impeccable, this is restaurant for adults, beautiful presentations in a modern style of plating. We ordered different wines by the glass, they have a pretty good selection. Surprisingly, not the best wine we sampled in Logroño, their selection is wide, it can be hit or miss. For a restaurant that has «wine» in their name, in a wine area, with awesome food, I was expecting more (constructive criticism here). Service was very professional. One of us had a special request at the end of the meal. I saw the kitchen was closing, they still delivered the request, I was impressed with the professionalism of this place. Overall, rather on the expensive side however the quality, service and presentation were equal to the price and as such, price/quality is respected here. Highly recommended, go without hesitation. P.S.: please leave a 👍of this review was helpful in making choices, thank you 🙏

A very weird experience. First off, they have advertisements in both Spanish and English and they are slightly different. Next, this place openly advertises a tasting of 3 Rioja reserva wines with some snacks at 15 EUR. We asked for that tasting and it was quite difficult already to understand each other with the man at the counter. When I showed the specific option from the Spanish menu I wanted, the man brought the english advertisement and pointed us at it. Anyway, we seemed to have e understood each other in the end. He showed us some three bottles of wine which we approved. Next, he pulled up two wine glasses and we told him that we only need one tasting as the other person is driving. The man refused to serve us then and told us that the minimum number of tastings was two and he didn’t want to open the bottles just for one tasting. The advertisement didn’t say anything about the minimal number of people. This business simply failed to serve what it advertised on the street on a plate with a piece of chalk - something very easy to adjust if you are not able to serve it anymore. I recommend avoiding this place for tastings due to absolute lack of customer attitude. In terms of the wine shop, there is a way much better one with 5-10x selection just 5mins of walk away

Came in for a spontaneous tasting and had the best experience! Very friendly and provided a lot of information and history on the wines. They had a great selection of cheese and meats to snack on while tasting. Would definitely recommend visiting!

A wonderful experience, the owner Luis was very welcoming and super informative about the wines of the area. He took us on a private wine tour to a local winery. He alsotook us down Calle Laurel for a food and wine experience of his favorite places. I hope to visit again!
Mike Fiske★★★★★
Having read positive reviews we popped into Vinoteca San Agustin for a wine tasting at short notice early this lunchtime. Luis and Susanna could not have been more accommodating, a delicious tasting of crianzas in very generous measures, accompanied by plates of tasty chorizo and cheese. We were so impressed with their selection of Rioja wines, very reaonable at all price points, that we left with a bottle of Imperial reserva and Contino reserva, both of which were delicious. Friendly service and excellent selection, highly recommended.
Dong-Oh Shin★★★★★
Wonderfully welcoming independent wine shop staffed by Carlos and Susannah. We came in for a very fair priced tasting completely impromptu. It was a case of our broken Spanish combined with their broken English. If you can work this out, they are incredibly welcoming and chatty. They are so knowledgeable and passionate about rioja wine. We ended up buying a memorable bottle on their recommendation.

I really enjoyed the winery visit and tasting. I was recommended to try their wines by Master of Wine, Tim Atkin. I also met & liked Oscar ar Barcelona Wine Week. The visit was conducted by Jennifer and I enjoyed her company & observations too. The wines I tasted were all much appreciated & of a profile that I hadn't tried before. I found the reds to be lighter, elegant & terroir driven using a wider variety of indigenous grape varieties. They had bags of personality, complexity & balanced with fruit and other aromas with the contact with oak being more restrained assisted with the use of clay vessel's and concrete. It was a shame that there wasn't any white or rosé to try. I would definitely recommend the visit.
Freedom Villa★★★★★
This is a must see for wine lovers in Legrono! Oscar's knowledge and obvious love of the craft made this the best winery tour of our visit. And don't miss out on the olive oil! Small batch, hand crafted wine & olive oil!?!? What more do you need!
Terence van der Sluis★★★★★
We did an urban cellar tour today at Arizcuren while visiting Logroño during our holiday. Our guide told the entire Arizcuren history and philosophy. We had no idea we were visiting such a cool niche wine, but loved it to bits. Also the wines taste really unique compared to others from the Rioja region. Our guide told us he is quite new to the Arizcuren-team and you could sense a bit of nerves at the beginning, but during the tour he really grew into his role as guide. We loved how he kept te tour personal and passionate. Thanks for the lovely wines, tour & Logroño recommendations.
Erin Drain★★★★★
Such an excellent tour of a true 'garagiste' style winery in the heart of Logroño, close to all the other major sites and easy to access. This is a great opportunity for visitors to experience truly special wines from Rioja Baja/Rioja Oriental who don't have time to go outside the city. This wine professional was thoroughly impressed, and felt very welcomed by Jennifer, who was able to tailor the presentation to our group based on our experience with wine and with the area. We loved tasting the amphora/tinaja wines after seeing them in person. Loved even more that the vessels themselves are made in Navarrete! There are many wineries to visit in Logroño, but none representing the 'next wave' of Spanish vinos de autor. The only regret is not having enough space to buy more. English speakers: there is an English tour available, read up on Arizcuren in Tim Atkin and book your visit!
Katy Benson★★★★★
You absolutely must visit here if in Logroño. I've done many wine tours over the years and Oscar our guide REALLY knew his stuff. Fascinating insight into the real Rioja from a winery making tiny artisanal wines from old family vineyards. 4 people bottling 25,000 bottles a year compared to the zillions churned out by others. Most importantly the wines are beautiful; graceful, delicious and very different from a standard Rioja.

Riojan style tripe €2.5 : Must try! Very well cooked tender tripe in tomato based sauce.
Steffen Schairer★★★★★
The "Zorropito" is a must for every tapas tour. It is a delicious sandwich: * It's essentially a small, hot sandwich. * It consists of a warm, slightly crusty bun. * It's filled with ali-oli sauce, ham, and either pork loin or bacon (or both).

I have a wheat allergy and they were so helpful and accommodating. My meal was wonderful. Definitely going back to try more yummy dishes.

A very nice wine shop with a wide selection of wines and other liquors. The owner is professional, kind, and speaks excellent English. They also offer wine tastings, which we look forward to trying one day!
Ashlesha★☆☆☆☆
Went there only to get scolded at by whoever was working there, they might be experts like a big fish in a small pond but you got to work on your peoples skills because no customer likes to be told off. Hopefully these people improve unless they are trying to get rid of tourists because it felt that way. Context - Got scolded for just walking in and asking about the wine tasting because he said "its not a walk-in bar" and then starting blabbering about how people use chatgpt and arrive over there clueless. We are supposed to book the wine tasting online because they need more poeple at a time sitting down for that. And then the nerve to ask if we wanted to buy a wine bottle . Really??😒
We went There★★★★★
Great tasting with the owner today. We spent about an hour in the shop. Learned a lot about local Rioja trends and tasted some really good wines. Tasting was unfussy and the price of the tasting and the bottles on display was most reasonable and we did buy a couple.

Today we visited Baco👌🏻and Daniel 🥰 took care of us. His knowledge and passion were truly impressive. He answered all of our questions thoroughly, objectively, and the combination of his personal preferences influence and ours was THE PERFECT advice. It was a fantastic experience, and we would highly recommend it to everyone. Thanks Daniel❤️
Kristin Ajamia★★★★★
We had a wonderful experience at Baco - "el mejor vinoteca de Logroño" (or maybe de la Rioja). Juanjo & Dani are both super knowledgeable about the different wineries and sub-regions of La Rioja and Ribeiro del Duero. They are happy to spend time chatting with customers in English o en español. I definitely recommend visiting them. If we can squeeze it in, we will go back for a wine tasting event!

Claire Cronin★★★★★
Amazing food, wine, service and atmosphere. Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about wine and the origin of their coffee. Well priced and would definitely recommend, a unique experience!
MAURICIO REYGADAS★★★★★
I would definitely say this is the best coffee/study shop in all of Logroño. Apart from the fact that it has very fast and reliable wifi and there are people on their computers here every day the coffee and food selection here are incredible. The place itself is extremely well located right next to the cathedral and has a warm modern aesthetic. If there is one thing I recommend is the cold brew!
Paul St. Laurent★★★★★
Great location, service, food and wine selections. Our favorite place to sit at the bar and enjoy all this restaurant has to offer.
Robert Rychlik★★★★★
We had superb dinner there. Great food: we had asparagus, anchovies, bread with herbs butter and pasta with artichokes’ hearts (from specials)(and yes, we ordered pasta in Spain, it was made very well). Great and friendly service. They had deep knowledge on wines. There was a good selection of several whites and reds and even more to buy per bottle to choose from. Many local wines ones as well, from just 30 minutes away wineries. The atmosphere was ambient, and our favorite music was played in the background. Much quieter than in some other local tavernas. Must visit place in Logroño.

We didn’t know what think when we scheduled the visit. Completely surprised by how cool the visit was. One of the best wine tours ever, and I have been on many. Ari was the best!! She was amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, personable. So worth the trip there. The experimental wines were fantastic.

Amazing tour of the Bodegas winery/vineyard. Got a private tour watching the entire process while the staff explained much of the information to us. Got to see the large vats, the storage areas, and their private wine library. Would definitely recommend this place. It’s a little outside the city but easy to get to by car or taxi. We took a taxi there and they called a taxi to pick us up as well. Also recommend you purchase wine that they only sell in Spain and not easily exported.
Nina Gonn★★★★★
I have not been to many winery tours but totally enjoyed this one. Gabriella our guide was fabulous and explained details about the region I would never have thought to ask. The winery was modern and beautiful. Our wines were paired with chocolate (I would never have thought to do). It was relaxing and worth the taxi ride (if you didn’t have a car).

Wow, what an incredible wine tasting tour! Victor was so knowledgeable and friendly. He explained everything so clearly and with enthusiasm. This was a lovely treat to myself whilst walking the camino! Super interesting and each wine was unique and paired with the chocolates perfectly. Thank you once again for a brilliant tour! Andrea

Taking my guests from Off Road & Overland Adventures Ltd to Campo Viejo at least once a year I have to say this year's tour has been even better than past years. Joana, our guild was absolutely amazing and showed us things that I had not seen on previous tours and for that this deserves a 5* review as being a travel guide myself I had moments of surprise like my guests do and got that amazed 1st time feeling all over again. The tasting after the tour is fantastic and Joana really did know her stuff as she found us wines that were not on the shelf as well as guiding us through new tastes. We will see you in 2025.

Hands down the best pinchos we had in Logroño. Everything we tried was excellent. The marinated tuna stood out the most. We went back a few times 😋 It was also not expensive which was a nice surprise given their Michelin ratings. Highly recommend!!

Tuna tataki was very delicious, fresh with Japanese twist in flavor. Very nice. The basque cheese cake was moist, creamy and not too sweet. So good! Wine selection was extensive. Our crianzas were both very good. Everything was clearly labeled which was very helpful. Standing room at bar and tables available in back.

Amazing tapas with over 60+ wines from all over Spain to choose from! The dishes are only $6-$8 on average, definitely high dining level food. You can ask for wine pairing recommendations to go with each tapas from the staff. Quite busy throughout the day, good place to eat with the locals.
Hordur O★★★★★
Amazing food accompanying high quality Rioja wines, a bit crowded yet good atmosphere. The tuna tataki was excellent and the Abel Mendoza Monga - Séleccion Personal 2021 was fantastic!
Jennifer Lee★★★★★
This place blew me away. They deserve the Michelin star. The oxtail was not to be missed and the tuna toast was my favorite. Surprising! I also loved the tempura. It was freshly done. Wasn’t in love with the mushroom toast or the cod but it was just less flavorful and still worth it. The wine was also some of my favorite in Spain. Really you must go. It was fantastic. Go at 8 pm when it opens because it was really busy by the time we left

This classic spot is a must-try when you’re in town! Despite the busy atmosphere, the friendly and efficient bartenders make sure you get your drink quickly. And let’s not forget their freshly made mushrooms on the bread, it’s a tie for my favorite! It’s the perfect place to grab a glass of wine for a relaxing afternoon. The food is delicious, quick, and incredibly affordable. Don’t let the crowd intimidate you; it’s located in the heart of town and is a very normal and easy place to visit.

They only do Mushrooms but they do them with style! This was our favourite tapa of the night by far. Fresh mushrooms cooked with garlic, parsley and olive oil and topped with a small prawn. Beautifully seasoned and accompanied with a Rioja Crianza which was divine. All this for 7.80 euros was fantastic value for money! Definitely don't miss this place!

There is one thing on the menu, mushroom pintxo, but OMG!!! I've never had muchroom this delicious before. Simple yet amazing. The service? No drama, just tell the gentleman behind the counter how many pieces, no carta needed 😆

A good bar located near the center of Logroño, with a good variety of tasty tapas. On Thursdays they have "hot dogs Thursdays," where hot dogs are €2.50 and pints are €2. The prices are cheap and the quality is good. Very family-friendly.

A very attractive bar; its bar is quite good, if not excellent. The coffee, despite being capsules—I say "despite" because I'm a big fan of traditional coffee—is delicious. The waiter/one of the owners who served me is a true professional. The service was excellent, friendly, and personal; you can tell he loves his job. The place isn't very big, but it doesn't need to be to have charm. °Spacious terrace. °Cleanliness. °Quality. °Dedication. °Award-winning pintxos.

A great place for a beer and a tapa. The selection isn't huge, but their seven tapas are fantastic and all freshly made. The service is very attentive and friendly. I've noticed there are a lot of regulars, which is always a good sign. I'll be back often.

Highly recommended. Great service, a nice terrace, and great food. The tapas are delicious, and if you pair them with a nice Amstel Oro, it couldn't be better.

Great beautiful wine shop with a very wide selection including some expensive Rioja wines

What a fine shop this is. A terrific selection of wines; I ended up buying 3 bottles from the region thanks to expert advice. The staff very kindly looked after our purchases whilst we went around the town (and prepared a handled box for us when we returned). We visited three wine shops in Logroño but for me, this was the best. Selection, service and quality were all first class. Recommended!

The Rioja wine region produces many of our favorite wines so naturally we came to Logroño. We discovered Vinoteca La Tienda de la Rica and we are so happy we did! In addition to great wines, they are incredibly knowledgeable about the wineries in the region, local events related to wine and incredibly kind! We highly recommend this shop because of their passion for viticulture, wine and most importantly, personal relationships.

Super knowledgeable and helpful. The woman who helped us was patient with our language skills and helped us decide on which wine to try. She provided a taste of two wines when we had trouble choosing!

Extremely lovely staff! We bumped into this store by accident and the lady apparently speaks perfect English and German and so we got recommended some lovely wines! Definitely a must visit 🙂

Our group of 24 (plus our tour manager and coach bus driver) sat on the upper floor for dinner. We were served family style of fresh baked bread, crispy pork belly, croquettes, pimentos de padron, a tomato salad (thinly sliced) drizzled with balsamic vinegar, grated cheese and olive oil, and lamb shank with potatoes. We were served with copious amounts of red and white wine. Dessert too, but I didn’t take a photo and don’t recall what it was. Overall, a great dinner with friends. I cannot comment on the price because it was part of our tour package.

One of the very few pet friendly restaurants in logroño! We had an amazing meal in the upstairs restaurant. Service was excellent exceptional, super attentive and friendly. The food was really special, we had the tasting menu and really enjoyed it. Our pet was welcome which was a big plus in a city where most restaurants do not accept dogs. The downstairs bar/tapas area is lively and very informal, but the upstairs is more upscale - offering amazing wines from the region. Definitely recommend!

Great food and wine selection, friendly and helpful staff to guide you through the pinxtos and wine menus, which are vast!

Tried the beef tartare and it was excellent, fresh, tender, and well-seasoned with just the right balance of flavors. The cheesecake was decent, nothing too special. But the real surprise? The wine mixed with lemonade, probably the best drink I’ve had today! Definitely worth a visit for the food and drinks.

For some reason, this restaurant is highly rated. We could not understand why. The wine selection is outstanding, that is on the bright side. However, food was well-below par. I made the mistake of ordering fried artichokes. I only learned from another customer that it was the wrong season for that. Very underwhelming, I would remove it from menu if I was the owner. Small portion on top of that. The rest of the food was average. We left after 2-3 tapas because of that. I would still return because the inside atmosphere was awesome, dominated by wine bottles, it is very attractive from the outside. But I would only drink here. Service was quick and amicable, but not that friendly. Overall, just an average place, there are better options in Logroño. P.S.: if this review was useful to you, please leave a quick ❤️, thank you 🙏

Went on the guided tour which included a tasting at the end. The bodega is immaculate and very modern, despite its history. The tour lasted an hour and took us through the history of the site, how the wine was made, and how it is made now. The guide was very knowledgeable and responsive to questions as we went around, giving detailed answers. The tour concluded with a tasting of two wines, and some snacks, which were presented in a professional way to take us through a proper method of tasting (not just the usual ‘pour, sip and listen’). Overall very enjoyable visit - and I came away with a bottle of their Bordón Gran Reserva 2015 for dinner that evening (see separate review in my Vivino)!

This full wine tour was an absolute delight. We were taken on a journey of the winery’s ownership, from a French man to a local Spanish family, and then to its current state as a family-owned winery with a rich history dating back to the 1900s. Our guide, Victor, provided us with an in-depth understanding of the wine-making process, from grape harvesting to the final product. He also organized a great wine tasting session, accompanied by delicious snacks. Highly recommended! It’s conveniently located in town and easily accessible on foot, eliminating the hassle of finding a taxi, which is currently unavailable due to the absence of Uber and Bolt services in the area.

An amazing tour inside a place with so much history. The tour guide give a lots of details to explain the group the important of this place in Logroño's history and development.

Booked this online fairly last minute October time. English speaking tour of approx 12. This winery is located next to the main bridge that enters Logrono. Easily walkable from the town so no need to worry about transport and the awkward ‘Who is going to drive whilst everyone else gets hammered question?’ Clearly lots of thought has gone into the visitors experience. Immaculate, clean design marries well with older buildings- very classy. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable as he showed us around. Happy to answer our questions and explain the process! We had a wine tasting at the end- one red , one white with chorizo! We opted for flights of 4 glasses afterwards in the bar area. They also have a cool shop- both overlook an enormous barrel section with sexy lighting! What better way to spend an afternoon??? Would highly recommended this winery and tour. Well done guys🍷🍷🍷🍷🙌🏼

We attended the Spanish language version. Interesting tour from a history point of view. Very knowledgeable guide, lacking in enthusiasm though. The tasting at the end of the tour left us a bit cold. This is where the guide's passion would have helped. Instead, he just disappeared without saying thanks and goodbye to the visitors. Overall, professionally organized, a tourist experience rather than one for wine enthusiasts. And that's fine, just go and attend with the correct expectations.

Tips for Enjoying Wine Bars in Logroño

To make the most of your culinary crawl, it helps to understand the unwritten rules of Logroño’s bar scene. The experience is fast-paced, social, and deeply rooted in tradition. Here is how to blend in and savor every moment like a local.

Master the Art of the Pincho
In Logroño, the drink and the food are intrinsically linked. Most bars specialize in one or two specific pinchos that they have perfected over decades. Do not sit down at a table and ask for a menu; instead, point at what looks good in the glass case, order your wine, and eat standing at the bar or a high table.

Specify Your Wine Style
When you order a wine, you will usually be asked "¿Crianza o reserva?" This refers to the aging of the red wine. Crianza is younger, fruitier, and often pairs better with lighter tapas, while Reserva is older, oakier, and more complex. Don’t be afraid to ask for a "Rioja blanco" if you prefer white, as the region produces excellent Viura.

Go Early or Go Late
The Spanish schedule differs from the rest of Europe. If you want to avoid the crush of the crowd, start your evening early, around 7:30 PM or 8:00 PM. However, if you want the authentic, buzzing atmosphere, wait until after 9:30 PM. The streets will be packed, but the energy is infectious.

Pay on the Way Out
Unlike in many countries where you pay as you order, many traditional standing bars in Logroño operate on a trust system. You order, you eat, you drink, and you tell the bartender what you had when you are ready to leave. Try to keep a mental note of your consumption to settle the bill honestly.

Explore Beyond Calle Laurel
While Calle Laurel is the most famous street, it can sometimes cater heavily to tourists. For a more local experience, venture to Calle San Juan or the surrounding side streets near the Plaza de la Oca. You will often find the same high quality of wine with a slightly more relaxed, residential vibe.

The beauty of Logroño lies in its unpretentious approach to high-quality gastronomy. You do not need to be a sommelier to enjoy the wine here; you simply need an appetite and a willingness to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of La Rioja. Every bar has a story, a secret recipe, and a barrel that represents generations of tradition.

As the evening winds down, you will likely find yourself planning your return before you have even left the cobblestone streets. The combination of exceptional wine, perfectly crafted small bites, and the warm, bustling atmosphere creates an experience that stays with you long after the last glass is emptied. In Logroño, you don’t just taste the wine; you live it.
