Whether you are a traveler looking to refuel before sightseeing or a local seeking a new weekend spot, the streets surrounding Paseo del General Martínez Campos are a goldmine. The key is knowing which side streets to wander down to find the true gems.
This guide curates the essential stops for the most important meal of the day. We have focused on quality, atmosphere, and proximity to ensure you spend less time searching and more time enjoying your coffee.
Here are the best places to grab breakfast or brunch within walking distance of the Sorolla Museum.

One of the best eggs Benedict I’ve had! Perfectly cooked poached eggs. The miso and sichuan oil were a great combination and can’t miss it. We also had the avocado toast with truffle sauce which was great as well. The açaí smoothie was fresh and refreshing too. We ended with an almond cake which was awesome, highly recommend this place!

Absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was wonderful, warm and welcoming, and our waitress was absolutely lovely and made the whole experience even better. She was so friendly, attentive and kind.
I had the bacon sandwich and it was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place! ❤️

Thanks Jason for the brilliant service. The Cantonese style scrambled eggs were some of the best I’ve ever had and the ‘soft’ cortado as this cafe cutely calls it was perfection. Brazilian coffee beans brewed just right. Come a bit earlier in the day so you don’t need to wait in line. Interiors are also so charming.
Brianna Pedraza★★★★★
Busy restaurant and there can be a line, but don’t stress and don’t let that deter you from waiting. The wait doesn’t take long! The service here is fantastic, quick and genuine. Very good food and coffee as well. We were very happy with this place and would came back! Thanks to server Cami for helping us have a good experience here

Beautiful place with a truly magical atmosphere. I absolutely loved the interior design, the vibe, and the overall feeling of the space. It is one of those places where you instantly feel relaxed and want to stay longer. The staff and service were also excellent, very friendly and attentive.
We especially loved the matcha with coconut water. It was delicious and definitely something I would order again.
As for the food, it was just okay. We tried the scrambled eggs with avocado and the eggs Benedict. The brunch dishes were decent, but not particularly memorable. Still, I would definitely come back for the atmosphere and would love to try some of the pastries or cakes next time.

Great breakfast / brunch option in Salamanca. We had to wait a bit in line (~20 mins), but it was worth it, and the host did everything he could to speed things up for us.
The food didn't just look good - we enjoyed it a lot - and the coffee was great as well (super important for coffee lovers like us). Would definitely recommend
chanelle mwale★★★★★
There was a slight queue to get in her but the wait was well worth it, delicious meal with generous servings at good value for money. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the service was quick. The brunch itself was fresh, nice mix of fruit on the plate and french toast was thick and fluffy. I would recommend here to tourists and non spanish speakers as the staff was patient with me when i tried ordering in spanish. All in all a great breakfast and delicious coffee!

The food was really good especially the guacamole !! Best brunch in Madrid for sure. The place is clean and pretty. Also the staff is nice and chatty too. Truly recommend this place. Muchas gracias por todo 😉
Allie Hult★★★☆☆
The food and drinks seem pretty good, but they’re also very pricey. I had the acai bowl, which was still pretty frozen (albeit tasty), and the lavender and vanilla latte, which was amazing. It’s a cute locale but very small, and the workers and environment are extremely insistent on not using a computer and having you leave quickly. This is the kind of place you want to go to so you can post about it on social media once, not the kind of place to become a regular at.
Nina Gírethová★★★★☆
Food was amazing and the atmosphere was really cozy. They also had great gluten-free options, which we really appreciated.
However, the service let it down. We were still finishing our drinks after about 40 minutes when we were told there was a queue outside and asked to leave if we weren’t ordering more, which felt quite rushed.
Overall, great food and vibe, but the service made the experience less enjoyable.

Cutest cafe. Very welcoming. The coffee was yum and we got the most adorable designs on the coffee. We also asked for a personalised one as a memory for our girls trip and were surprised with an amazing design. Definitely recommended if your in Madrid 🤌🏼

Very good brunch and food in general.

Kind and helpful staff. Relaxing atmosphere. Good location. Very good price.

There’s a lovely terrace that’s perfect for summertime, and inside there’s a super comfortable couch that makes it great for relaxing. The food offers really good value for money, the coffee is great, and the pastries are absolutely amazing. I’d definitely recommend it for brunch or just a nice coffee break. The service can be a bit slow at times, but overall it’s pretty good. I go there often!
Maho Hernández★★☆☆☆
I don't know why this place is popular...
Let's start with the service. There were enough waiters to be attentive to the customers. Around 15 minutes it took to take our order, and the treatment was horrifying. All hectic all the time, throwing the plates and interrupting while asking the order.
Then, the place is so small, that you will never be comfortable. So expect being bumped by people passing by you or with other chairs behind you.
And last, the food. Let's start with the menu:
How is it that they offer you two "brunch menus" so if you don't want that amount of food, you have to take it either way because at the end the price won't change.
Then, we ordered the shashuka and roast beef sandwich. They were OK, but forget to actually taste the roast beef as they paired it up with a strong taste bread and sauce, which made the taste of the roast beef to disappeared. We also had the nutella waffle, but we were so desperate to leave that I forgot yo take a picture to it.
Overall, disappointment... The name of the restaurant it's actually very appropriate for the experience: Bendita Locura...
Julie M. Kjendlie★★★★★
Went for the Classic as it was more choices and value for money. Basically, gained the juice and the French toast for €5 more. That said, it was more than I could handle alone and it would have been good to go with company to share.
The server was helpful pulling up an English menu on her phone as I was struggling with connection.
I particularly enjoyed that they used onsen tamago (slow cooked eggs Japanese way) instead of poached egg for the eggs benedict. Unexpected and it worked well.
alessandra diaz★★★☆☆
This place is great for brunch! It was 20 euros for a latte, chia pudding, and a main. I am assuming that the other mains tasted good because I got the chicken and waffles and it was terrible. I could not finish it. It made me so sad because I LOVE WAFFLES, but the waffles was way too sweet and tasted very artificially vanilla. The texture was stale and the fried chicken on top was kind of Asian? Almost like sweet and sour. I had a lovely experience and I LOVED the pink latte but PLEASE DO NOT ORDER THE CHICKEN AND WAFFLES! My friend ordered the shakshuka and liked it so maybe go with that.

We came to eat breakfast here because my daughter is a big fan of acai bowls.
We didn't have to wait.
The husband had the turkish eggs, but he was talking all day about his expresso ☕️, he really liked it. It's hard to satisfy his palate when is about coffee.
I ordered a The Nordic Toast with salmon and avocado and it was delicious.
They have fresh juices and coconut water.
The server was quick and attentive.
It's hard to find parking on the street, but we parked 4 blocks away in a paid parking.

I recently had breakfast at a local gem that truly sets the bar high for both food and service. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome—warm smiles, quick seating, and attentive without ever being overbearing.
The menu had a great mix of classic favorites and creative twists. Everything we ordered arrived fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The acai bowl is delicious and a great start for the day, the eggs cooked exactly as requested, and the coffee is a must. You can tell they use quality ingredients and take pride in what they serve.
What really stood out, though, was the service. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and happy to make recommendations. They checked in just the right amount and made sure we had everything we needed.
If you’re looking for a breakfast spot with amazing food and exceptional service, this place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll absolutely be coming back!

Excellent vegan-friendly spot near Retiro. The staff were incredibly kind and the atmosphere is very relaxing, ideal for long conversations. The coffee art was a great touch, and the food (especially the pancakes) was fresh and beautifully presented. Highly recommended for a chill brunch!

Had an amazing experience at Coco Social House! The aesthetic is beautiful and creates such a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the Turkish eggs and the Tropical Matcha, and both were delicious. The Turkish eggs were full of flavor, and the Tropical Matcha was refreshing and unique. The servers were also fantastic—friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in Madrid!

What a great brunch spot! Walking in during the very late morning on a Friday in September, I got a seat right away. The space is small, but they use the space well to fit a handful of small tables.
The server was very quick and friendly. He recommended the chilaquiles with beef and wow. It was excellent as was the pistachio latte. I’d definitely go back!

What a wonderful find in the heart of La Latina! Cocuiza is a charming, quaint brunch spot where it’s immediately clear that real time, care, and attention go into every dish. Everything we tried was meticulously prepared and beautifully presented, with interesting flavour combinations that were both creative and absolutely delicious.
The recommendations were excellent and made the whole experience even better. The owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and took the time to explain everything perfectly, which added such a personal touch to our visit.
A truly special little place with fantastic food, unique flavours, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended — we will definitely be coming back!
Emmett Grames★★★★★
Surprisingly large portions, be ready to share if you order one of the pancake stacks. Really good food, fresh drinks, and service, the prices are a bit higher but for the quantity and quality it really is worth it. The staff were very friendly. We got there early on a Sunday, but if you plan to go mid-morning you might want to call ahead and reserve a table, they were very busy when we left, with a line out the door.
Olivia Seward★★★★★
Best breakfast place in Madrid. If you care about food…come here!! The pancakes were the best I’ve ever had in my life- perfect flavor and perfect texture. The hash browns were also great too. I will be coming back to try more on the menu. Also mentioning there’s self serve water which is great!! So happy we found this spot.
Sarah Terry★★★★★
I got the watermelon juice & sweet salty chicken. This is way better than any chicken & waffles I’ve had in the USA. Amazing. Great sauce& flavor. I like the coleslaw on it too. It was very busy so I would recommend making a reservation.

Elena Sandru★★☆☆☆
We went there as a couple only looking for some great cocktails (one of their strongest points) and sweets.
Ainoha who served us was very accommodating and willing to go above and beyond. 5 stars for her.
What we did not appreciate - hence my low rating:
- we had to wait at least 20 minutes. For good restaurants that’s understandable. However there were 4 seats available upstairs (two at the bar, two at a free table). 5 people waiting before us, none of them seated - nor us - at these free seats. When we finally got seated downstairs there were two other free tables with 4 more free seats.
- the cocktail guy (or girl 🤍) was free today. So they had no cocktails. Unacceptable for such a busy place in the middle of Madrid
- we had two of the menu’s stars: the pistachio pancakes and the cinnamon rolls. The pancakes were a disappointment for me - three pancakes, good looking, with a bit of pistachio frosting and icecream on top. But tasteless otherwise. I would not recommend. I appreciated the roll - very sweet for my husband yet ok for me.
- very difficult to drink coffee out of the very nice looking cups
I would definitely not recommend nor come again.
Pauline Philippi★★★★★
This breakfast spot was absolutely incredible!! We just needed a place that opened early before we left for the airport, and we were very happy for an 8am opening. My daughter had the burger (yes, for breakfast, and she wasn’t the only one!) and I had the French toast. I didn’t get to taste the burger because it was completely gone before I had a chance to ask for a bite. But the French toast, besides the beautiful display, came with a little scoop of ice cream that nicely replaced the need for syrup, plus fresh strawberries and blueberries and a caramelized banana. The details were so nicely done. Even my cappuccino was so beautifully crafted! I cannot recommend this place enough. Every food item that came out to other tables looks delicious and I’m sending my other daughter here when she studies in Madrid next semester!
Juan Campo★★★★☆
It’s a popular tourist spot, so it’s usually bustling with visitors, partly because of its reputation and the hype surrounding it. The atmosphere is lively, but it definitely feels quite touristy.
The food is decent overall, although the menu leans heavily toward desserts. One thing I didn’t particularly like is their practice of encouraging customers to leave a five-star review at the end of the meal. When it seems to be a standard part of the experience, it takes away some of the authenticity and usefulness of the reviews when deciding whether to visit. The approach to tipping also felt a bit excessive.
Overall, the food is decent, but considering the crowds and potential wait, I’m not sure the experience is worth the hype.
Sarah Dettmann★★★★★
Brunch here ! Such a good spot. Amazing food, service, and I loved the vibes/ decor.
The salmon Benedict was super fresh, and the potato waffle with truffle mushroom is a must if you love mushrooms. The Pistachio Obsession café was creamy, aesthetic, and honestly so good.
Alejandro gave great service, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Would definitely go back.
The Foodie Crusader★★★★★
This place had a bit of a wait, but i think it was worth it. Its very nice and cozy inside. The staff is nice and friendly. The food was excellent. The latte was delicious. The Spanish omelet was super yummy. It basically reminds me of potatoes au gratin wrapped with a thin sheet of egg. I got mine with pork belly and it was delicious and filling for me. We ordered the French toast by mistake but it worked out for us. It was absolutely delicious. The toast was soft, sweet, and flavorful, the ice cream and fresh berries made it all come together nicely. The prices are reasonable. I would definitely come back, and i would make this a must visit.

We were rushing to get to the Royal Palace on Tuesday morning and we were in dire need of some breakfast after a long day of travel the night before. We looked up some reviews and saw this place at a 4.9 and I honestly think it should have a perfect five. We had what we thought was the best breakfast we had in our 18 days of Europe here. The food was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked, presented well, And very tasty. The service was quick and once we told the waiter that we were in a rush, we were in and out in about 40 min, which is exactly what we needed to do. There are only about 15 tables in the restaurant and it is a small intimate venue but the location is almost perfect if you're looking for a place to stop or visiting the Royal Palace of Madrid. Definitely consider it if you are in the area.
Jacky Wu★★★★★
The food was absolutely delicious and full of authentic Vietnamese flavor. The pho was rich and comforting, the spring rolls were fresh and crispy, and the service was warm and attentive. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, and everything felt clean and welcoming. I really enjoyed my dining experience here and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

This place is so famous in Madrid. The dishes are simply perfect, they have the right balance between softness and consistency, making them absolutely irresistible. Plus, the taste is incredible and really so high quality on the ingredients
The atmosphere is so chill, and the service is friendly. One of the best pancake experiences I’ve ever had. Highly recommended! When I return to Madrid, I’ll definitely visit again.

I’ve visited this Brunch & Cake location in Madrid more than eight times, and without a doubt, it’s my favorite branch among all the Brunch & Cake locations I’ve been to.

A very special thank you to “Sergi”. He consistently went above and beyond to make my experience personal and unforgettable. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for guests are exceptional. People like him are the reason customers keep coming back.
Thank you to the entire team for maintaining such a high standard every single time. I can’t recommend this place enough, and I’ll definitely be returning again and again.

Nice cozy brunch/cafe in Salamanca with really lovely ambiance. The food are plated in a fancier way, food quality and taste are good. A little bit pricier of course but it fits when you have a date, or have girly brunch/hanging out with girl friends or if with kids as well.
It’s pet friendly as well 🙂

Carmencita is an awesome brunch spot, the staff is super friendly, the dishes come out really well served and fairly priced, the Cris Crust was delicious, and the side yogurt bowl (included in the price) had amazingly fresh fruit and homemade granola that tasted incredible, making it one of those places in Madrid you leave already planning to come back.
Tips for a Perfect Breakfast Near Sorolla Museum
To make the most of your morning in Chamberí, a little local knowledge goes a long way. The dining culture here has specific rhythms, and understanding them will help you secure a table at the best spots and order like a local. Whether you are visiting on a busy Sunday or a quiet Tuesday, these insights will enhance your experience.
- Embrace the "Hora del Vermut" on Weekends: If you are brunching on a Saturday or Sunday, note that many local spots blur the line between late breakfast and lunch. Don’t be surprised to see locals ordering a small vermouth or a caña (draft beer) alongside their tortilla after 12:30 PM; it is a cherished local tradition.
- Go for the "Tortilla de Patata" Before Noon: The Spanish potato omelette is the ultimate breakfast of champions in Madrid. Order a "pincho de tortilla" (a slice on bread) rather than a full ration if you want to save room for pastries later. Ask if it is "jugosa" (runny inside) if you prefer a creamy texture.
- Check for "Menú del Día" Transition Times: Many traditional cafes stop serving breakfast around 11:30 AM to prepare for the lunch rush. If you want eggs or toast, arrive before 11:00 AM. If you arrive later, be prepared to transition to a heartier lunch menu or find a specialty brunch spot that serves all day.
- Order Coffee Like a Local: Instead of a standard "café con leche," try a "cortado" (espresso with a splash of milk) or a "café solo con hielo" (espresso over ice) if the weather is warm. For a sweeter morning treat, ask for "leche manchada" (mostly milk with a splash of coffee).
- Don’t Skip the Bakery Case: Some of the best breakfasts near the museum are found standing at a bar counter with a "napolitana" (chocolate pastry) or a "palmera" (palmier). If a place has a display case full of baked goods, trust it over the printed menu.
- Prepare to Wait on Terraces: The tree-lined streets around the museum are beautiful, which means outdoor tables are highly coveted on sunny days. If a place looks busy, it is perfectly acceptable to stand near the bar inside to order a quick coffee while you wait for a table outside to open up.
Chamberí is a district that rewards those who wander slowly. After your meal, take a moment to walk along the quiet streets like Calle Zurbano or Calle Miguel Ángel to admire the 19th-century architecture that makes this area so distinct from the city center.
Ending your visit to the Sorolla Museum with a lingering breakfast in the surrounding neighborhood completes the cultural experience. It offers a taste of daily life in Madrid, far from the fast-paced tapas bars of the tourist center, leaving you satisfied and ready for the rest of your day.
