15 Best Steakhouses in Reims

Reims may be world-famous for its grand cathedral and centuries of Champagne heritage, but the city also has a deep-rooted appreciation for exceptional beef. While the region’s sparkling wine often steals the spotlight, local gourmands know that the city’s restaurant scene offers some of the finest steak cuts in northeastern France. From traditional brasseries serving perfectly seared entrecôte to modern bistros experimenting with dry-aged local Charolais, the options are both diverse and deeply satisfying.

The dining culture in Reims blends the formality of French gastronomy with the warmth of a market town. Chefs here rely on strong relationships with regional butchers and cattle farmers, ensuring that the meat on your plate reflects the terroir of the Champagne-Ardenne area. Whether you prefer a rich, marbled ribeye or a lean, tender filet, the city’s top tables treat beef with the same reverence they give to vintage wine.

Choosing the right steakhouse involves more than just finding a place with a grill. You need to consider the cut, the aging process, the sauce, and, of course, the wine list. In Reims, the best establishments understand that a great steak deserves a bold red Burgundy or a structured Bordeaux, though many locals will happily pair their beef with a glass of Blanc de Noirs Champagne for a uniquely regional experience.

This guide focuses on restaurants that consistently deliver quality meat, precise cooking temperatures, and memorable atmosphere. Some of these addresses are historic institutions where politicians and Champagne house owners have sealed deals for decades. Others are newer, chef-driven spots that prioritize sourcing and creative side dishes. All of them share a commitment to honoring the simple pleasure of a well-cooked steak.

Before you make a reservation, think about the experience you want. Are you looking for a lively bistro where the waiters carve your côte de bœuf tableside? Or do you prefer an intimate dining room with white tablecloths and a sommelier on hand? Reims offers both, often within a short walk of the cathedral or the Place Drouet d’Erlon.

Below, you will find a curated selection of the best places in Reims to enjoy a steak. Each recommendation reflects current local reputation, ingredient quality, and the overall value you can expect when dining in this elegant French city.

This place was absolutely fantastic. So good, we made sure to come back again the next day!! We tried all dishes- steak, chicken and the smash burger and all of them were superb!!! Amazing service provided by Abdallah. He went above and beyond to make every visit seem more special then the last.

I had a great time at this restaurant. I chose the set menu, and they served the steak frites two times so it wouldn’t get cold. I had great service by Abdallah. I would recommend getting a reservation. Being there at 19 was perfect. I got good service and the food before it got really busy.

If a place has a small set menu, you expect them to be experts in what they do, and let me tell you, this place is expert in beef, fries, and addictive special green sauce! One of the best, most surprising meals of our life. The entrecôte was cooked to the rare perfection my partner asked for. I thoroughly enjoyed my smash burger drenched in the green sauce. The fries - crispy, salty perfection in unlimited quantity if you so choose. If you order the entrecôte, you have the option to have two (included) courses of it. To top it all off, the service, was fast, great, and super friendly, particularly our good homie Abdallah, he was always smiling! Would HIGHLY recommend.

I LOVED the sauce that came with the steak and fries. Great ambiance. I recommend especially during the weekday. The service was great! Abdallah is a kind waiter

We had the set lunch and is really worth it. I ordered the chicken breast. The fries were good, homemade sauce to go with the chicken was heavy but necessary. The chicken breast was dry. Service was very good. The crepe Suzette was very good.

We ordered there a combo o chicken and steak, and both were delicious, very well done and tender. My 3 and 4 y olds were able to eat it easily and loved it as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. If you like some plain meat options different than hamburgers very nicely done and on a simple and relaxing set without over-complications, this is the place for sure, there are plenty of seats. The lady who served us was also very friendly. As soon as she noticed that I had some difficulty speaking French, she immediately switched to English and did a great job explaining the menu and the different options. I will definitely come back the next time I am in Reims.

Everything was excellent! The chicken was crispy and juicy, the poivre sauce was delicious. Even the salad dressing was great. Highly recommend for a no be frills meal in Reims.
Chahna Gorania★★★★★
We ordered the chicken dishes from the menu and they certainly didn’t disappoint. The chicken was cooked perfectly, incredibly tender, and packed with flavour thanks to the amazing seasoning. The fries were also delicious and complemented the meal really well. In fact, this ended up being our favourite meal of the entire trip and the best food we had in the region. The service was excellent throughout, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made the experience even better. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Amazing place for a quick lunch or dinner. I went there late afternoon so there was no waiting line. The staff was super friendly and spoke in English, as my French is not very good (apologies for that). The Irish Angus was tender and nicely salted, the chicken was perfect and the chips hand cut and crispy. Highly recommended place!!

Been wanting to try this restaurant since every time I pass by it's always full of customers. I'm happy we came around lunch time and got their formule which was a complete meal + a choice of drink or dessert for €17. I'm usually fond of restaurants that specialize only on one thing and La Brigade is one of those. It's a pretty straightforward concept, no frills, fast and an enjoyable dining experience. I got an onglet de bœuf and my husband had a poulet pané. The beef was a bit overcooked than what i ordered but I still enjoyed my experience in the restaurant anyway. The fries were perfectly cooked, they feel like fait maison and not industriL 💖 the roquefort miel and chimi-pesto sauces were delightful and I'm excited to try the other sauces 😊 the framboise pastèque tea and citronnade maison were super good, I highly recommend it! 💖 Our server was very nice and courteous despite a busy lunch service. People were starting to pile up at the cashier and he took the initiative to give us the bill and process our payment at the table. I'm definitely coming back to try their other offerings 😊💖

The steak Kabab meal was good, but the item on the plate that shined through was the salad!, and that's not good when you order the Steak Kabab plate. We also tried the Chicken Escalope, sadly it was simply pan seared chicken with a dry and bland result, prepare to chew for a long time on simple bites. The portions were generous but without flavor we left most on the plate. ...the beer was good. The service was AWESOME!! The hostess was very attentive and friendly and helpful. The only thing that made the visit worthwhile. ...oh! ask for a sharp knife for the chicken 🤷🏻‍♂️😵‍💫

What an amazing place! From the outside (and inside) it doesn't look special, but the food! Oh my, It's amazing! We had the entrecote and salmon tagliatelle, both were so good! After that a nice crème brulee and coffee to finish. Definitely worth going here, I promise you no regrets after leaving.

It's a small restaurant, highly recommend to visit. However the chicken breast is too dry with minimum sauce. Other than that all is good and affordable price too.

While in Reims visiting family and friends, I stumbled upon this restaurant tucked away in the commercial area, thanks to a recommendation from my brother-in-law. It was a wonderful discovery: a relaxing atmosphere, a pleasant setting, attentive waitresses and waiters, no wait, and homemade cuisine using fresh ingredients. Plus, they had a great wine list. I was so pleasantly surprised that I forgot to take pictures of the dishes I ordered—delicious from start to finish! I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it. A great place to add to your list.
L B★★★☆☆
No complaints about the food, homemade dishes in generous portions, thank you to the chef! However, the service was too slow for lunchtime dining; expect to wait over two hours if you want a starter, main course, and dessert. The waiters and waitresses were friendly, but either they're understaffed or we were just unlucky (the restaurant is nearby, and we've tried several times with the same result). The price-to-quality ratio is very good!

We were seated and left waiting at a dirty table for about 20 minutes (it was 9:00 PM). Someone finally came to take our order around 9:10 PM, which was just a steak and a bottle of wine. It is now 9:23 PM, and the food has only just arrived. The meat was chewy and arrived cold, and it was blue rather than medium rare. The chips were soggy and did not look properly cooked. See the picture. I would say stay away if you don’t have the time and stamina to fight with the waitstaff. Answer to owner reply : Thank you for your response, but your account of the evening does not match the reality of our experience. When we arrived, we were seated at a table that was absolutely not cleaned immediately. In fact, we sat for 20 minutes surrounded by the previous guests' used napkins, leftover food, and paper placemats before anyone even bothered to clear it. You served the meat on a stone base, but it was ice cold. This means you have no idea why you are even using that stone or granite base, which is supposed to keep the meat hot. It was totally unprofessional. Furthermore, if your establishment has an unwritten policy or preference against serving British or English-speaking guests, you should make that explicitly clear with a warning outside. The poor level of service and hospitality we experienced felt entirely unjustified, regardless of what we ordered. Our rating stands as an accurate reflection of the poor service we received.

A great discovery tonight for our wedding anniversary, the Viand'Art des Sacres restaurant was amazing! The staff were super friendly and I asked for a cheese plate which wasn't on the menu and I got what I wanted with a smile. I highly recommend it. A big thank you to the kitchen, it was really top-notch, everything was cooked exactly as requested.

A perfect meal; you can tell they eat quality food. The portions are very generous, the dishes are delicious and full of flavor. The service was perfect; the waitress was very kind, smiling, and efficient. The dessert was also very good. A small menu of homemade items; even the whipped cream is fantastic.

One of my favorite restaurants in Reims. We loved everything, especially the meat, which was of excellent quality. The staff were kind and attentive, and the ambiance was very pleasant. A great dining experience overall. Recommended ! 100%

Great dinner spot in the centre of the town. Lovely meat dishes. Particularly loved the onion soup, duck breast and chocolate moose. Great wine list at some very reasonable prices

Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We had to wait a long time before anyone came to our table, even though three staff members were standing around without doing anything. It was not a welcoming start. I ordered the côte de bœuf medium, but it was served rare, almost blue. For a steak of this quality and price, I expect it to be cooked as requested. The fries were also very soft and lacked any crispness, which made the meal even more disappointing. What concerned us the most was the way our gluten allergy was handled. We did not feel confident that the staff understood the seriousness of food allergies or cross-contamination. As a result, we did not feel safe eating there. Overall, the service, food quality, and attention to allergies were far below our expectations. Unfortunately, we would not return or recommend this restaurant.

We sat out on the terrace with a view of the Basilica - magical. It was a Monday night so we didn't have a problem getting a table. There is QR code for the English version of the menu. There were not many vegetarian options for me, so I opted for the cheese salad, which was huge & had many elements. I followed up with the salmon tartare, which was good. My partner had the sausage starter & the beef skewers, both of which he enjoyed. It was hard to fit all the plates on the tiny table.

Fantastic food! Huge servings! Luc was very attentive! We spoke no French so he had a lot of patience! Really friendly and accommodating. Worth a visit! X

It's was ok........ starter (snails) was beautiful, unfortunately thats where the quality ended, the rotisserie chicken was served cold and nor crispy skin etc. The crepe deserts tasted like heated up supermarket crepes. We were so looking forward to a traditional French restaurant experience, unfortunately this was not it. The serving staff were lovely though.

We arrived here on a Tuesday night with a reservation, but were shown a table that was less than ideal. It was so hot & noisy inside that we decided to relocate to the terrace area. It was better. We shared a baked cheese with honey dish. Then our mains of pepper steak & honey glazed salmon were fine, but not impressive. The salad was very basic. It was an adequate meal.
Eerik Heijari★★★★★
Easy French dinner with very informal setting and relaxed atmosphere. Food was really good, especially the brisket and the ribs. Fries were excellent. Personally I would prefer actual mayonnaise or more rich sauce to accompany the ketchup. No reservation needed, just queue a bit and voila! Recommended😊

We were staying in Reims for a couple of nights while touring the nearby champagne houses and were searching for a local but hospitable place to eat dinner, and Le Tablier looked homey and welcoming so we decided to give it a try. This is exactly the kind of brasserie you hope to stumble into in the middle of Reims. It's right on Place Drouet d'Erlon with a big, lively terrace facing the Subé fountain. That means it gives off great people-watching vibes, although in December it was too chilly to dine outside. The atmosphere of the restaurant hits that sweet spot between cozy, rustic, and modern. It feels relaxed but still polished, like a place that knows what it's doing without trying too hard. The tables are packed too closely together, which was a nice change as to the European norm. We were able to enjoy our dinner and conversation without touching elbows with fellow guests. To be fair, we were dining at an "off" time, so it wasn't very busy. Your mileage may vary if you visit during the popular dinner hours. The staff were genuinely welcoming, especially to foreign visitors, which honestly stands out by French standards. English menus were available, service was friendly and easygoing, and nothing felt rushed. We were greeted warmly by the host, who immediately started speaking to us in English (how do they ALWAYS KNOW?!). We still tried to speak some French to him, which he appreciated. I swear attempting to converse in the local language does wonders when you're a tourist in Europe! The cocktail menu is extensive and creative, and we had some excellent cocktails along with a solid house wine (typical in France) that set me back a whopping 5 Euros LOL. My hubby's cocktail was beautifully presented and garnished with dried fruit, and it was nice and strong. Even the bread basket deserves a shout out for the simple, fresh, and very snackable crusty, sliced baguette. Food-wise, everything was quite tasty. My snail-loving hubby said the escargots (9 Euros for a half dozen) were plump, garlicky, and perfectly done. He never, ever passes up the chance to order this dish whenever we are in France, and he really raved about these. I opted for the Salmon Amandine (24 Euros), which was served with a cider and mustard sauce and butter mashed potatoes. My fish was flavorful and well-cooked, and the portion was quite large. My husband went with a steak and potatoes dish, which he said was rich and satisfying. The potatoes were fried in what tasted like duck fat, and everything was well seasoned. Even by American standards, the portions were huge. These are definitely generous brasserie-style plates, so much so that we skipped on dessert (and the selections sounded incredible). For escargots, salmon, beef, a cocktail, glass of wine, bottled water, and all that atmosphere, we paid about €80, which felt like a great deal for the quality and location. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. I would definitely recommend Le Tablier to visitors in the area. It's a great choice for a casual, fun meal with tasty drinks right in the heart of Reims.

I wasn't expecting much based on the other "chain" places around, but was pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent. Food was good. Ribs were good and fillet steak was cooked as requested. House wine was fine. Didn't think much of the mini fondue starter though. Atmosphere was good once it got busier. Nice place.

An excellent branch of this restaurant chain. We had the steak haché and a cheese burger plus pain perdu for dessert - all tasty and well presented. Staff were brilliant. We were first in at 18:40 but it started to fill out after 19:00 creating a good atmosphere. Decent value, especially as food was high quality. Recommended

Two tables came in after us and were served before we received food. Order a steak medium well and another meat dish medium well. Both came to us rare. We had a starter that contained wings. The outside was steaming hot but inside near was cold, actual cold. Asked for more water and it didnt arrive until we were finished eating and ready to leave. Theyre not busy but have two people working the floor. One taking orders and another bringing food. Took about 45 minutes just to receive food after ordering. Still havent received the dessert that was part of the kids meals. Recommend you avoid this location. Staff on duty at the time of our visit also didnt speak English so perhaps that was part of why the meals weren't prepared properly.

Service is on point. Welcoming and quick. Inside is warm and cozy. Only downside is the food was just warm and not hot. Big thanks to Angèle for impeccable service.

Everything that could go wrong here went wrong. While we arrived at the exact opening time of the restaurant, it took the whole staff 15 minutes to start their shift (while the restaurant had already been opened). We could hear them laughing in the kitchen while we were waiting to be seated. Then after we got seated, we had to wait another 15 minutes for them to take our order. Then, we had to wait another 45 minutes for the food to arrive. On top of that, the quality of the food lacked a lot. The meat was barely warm, had a lot of fat on it, and no condiments were used at all, which made it a very boring and flavourless meal. Since no one came to ask if everything was alright, we had to ask for mayonaise on the side for the fries. For this, we had to ask 2 different waiters as the first one forgot about us. By the time they brought the mayonaise we had already finished our meal. Considering the lacking service and poor quality of the food, it was very overpriced. It felt like our money had been washed away really. A very unfortunate experience for us.

Staff were kind and attentive, prices felt reasonable, and portion sizes were more than enough. I especially enjoyed the canard —it was flavorful and well cooked. Definitely worth ordering and easy to recommend.

Fantastic as always! What would we do without Courtpaille! Staff were very friendly and efficient Courtpaille has been our go to when traveling through France 35 years. It's a shame so many have had to close!

Perfecto! We came here twice, 2 years apart, while supercharging our Tesla, and both times the food absolutely blew us away. The taste, quality, and freshness were amazing. It’s the perfect stop while charging, and honestly, the food made the charging time feel too short! Highly recommended.

Avoid... Worst steak i have ever had. Ordered a sirloin and could not eat it. Left it after the second bite as my mouth was filled with a disgusting burnt dirty grill taste, chips and salad were okay which i ate as I was really hungry. The staff were very attentive. But even after brushing my teeth and smoking cigarettes i couldn't get rid of the taste.. 😫 It is a tourist trap.

The food here was fantastic and so tasty. Being able to sit and watch your food being cooked was a great experience. Lovely staff, a nice warm calm atmosphere too. The prices were a bonus too.

I’m not the type to write reviews, but this place. Was amazing. I came here to eat with my dad and I got the pulled pork burger and my dad got the bbq ribs. We sat down and right away were amazed with the beauty and the exceptional service. The Swedish bar tender made my day, however all of the waiters were exceptionally welcoming, patient, understanding, caring, and hilarious. The food was delicious (better than most barbecue I’ve had in the USA) and came at a perfect respectable time. I will definitely be eating here again next time I’m in town. The restaurant was definitely an experience, a positive one at that.

This is a real gem. We went for lunch and had a really nice meal. The menu is not extensive but you will find something nice to eat and atmosphere is really good. The staff are exceptional.

We were lucky to get a table without reservation. Food was just good. The offer of lunch included a glass of champagne. The pistachio tiramisu was too sweet and too big like a dessert

Had a wonderful dinner after our champagne tour before we went back to the train station. Vitaly was exceptionally welcoming and let us stay as long as we liked (we had time to kill before our late train back to Paris). Get the strawberry dessert! It was magnificent!

Decent continental food - the pizzas are good, the truffle mushroom pasta was alright and the scallops dish was mixed (scallops themselves were good but the rest of the dish didn’t quite work). We sat outside (although there is a massive indoor area, which was full when we went) and it started raining which affected our meal a bit. Overall decent spot!

How to Choose the Perfect Steak in Reims

The difference between a good steak and an unforgettable one often comes down to a few key decisions you make before and during your meal. Understanding French beef classifications, cooking terminology, and local customs will help you order with confidence. Reims may be a Champagne capital, but its steak culture follows the same rigorous standards found in Paris or Lyon. Use these practical tips to ensure your dining experience matches your expectations.

Know your cuts and French terms. In France, you will see cuts like entrecôte (ribeye), filet (tenderloin), bavette (flank), and onglet (hanger steak). If you want maximum tenderness with minimal fat, order the filet. If you prefer deep beefy flavor and more marbling, choose the entrecôte or bavette. Do not hesitate to ask the server which farm the beef comes from; quality restaurants will know.

Understand cooking temperatures. French kitchens often cook beef one level below what you might expect in other countries. Bleu means nearly raw and cool in the center. Saignant is rare with a warm red center. À point is medium-rare to medium. Bien cuit is well done, though many chefs will gently discourage this for premium cuts. If you want a true medium, ask for à point bien cuit.

Pay attention to aging and breed. The best steakhouses in Reims will advertise dry-aged beef (maturée) or specific breeds like Charolais, Limousine, or Aubrac. Dry aging concentrates flavor and tenderizes the meat naturally. If a menu simply says “steak” without mentioning origin or aging, it may still be good, but the top-tier experiences will be transparent about sourcing.

Sauce matters, but do not overdo it. Classic French steak sauces include béarnaise, au poivre (peppercorn), and échalote (shallot red wine reduction). A great sauce should complement the beef, not hide it. If you are ordering a high-quality dry-aged cut, consider asking for the sauce on the side so you can taste the meat first.

Pair beyond red wine. While a structured Bordeaux or Burgundy is a natural partner for steak, Reims offers a unique opportunity to try Champagne with beef. A Blanc de Noirs, made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, has the body and red fruit notes to stand up to a ribeye. Ask your sommelier for a recommendation if you want to explore this local pairing.

Book ahead for weekend dinners. The most popular steakhouses in Reims fill up quickly, especially Thursday through Saturday. Many of the smaller bistros have limited seating and a single evening service. Reserving a table at least a few days in advance is essential if you have your heart set on a specific address.

Reims proves that you do not need to travel to Paris or Lyon to enjoy a world-class steak. The city’s best tables combine French culinary discipline with the agricultural richness of the surrounding Champagne region. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply ending a day of cellar tours with a hearty meal, a perfectly cooked piece of beef here feels both luxurious and deeply satisfying.

As you explore the options above, remember that the best steakhouse is the one that matches your personal style. Some diners crave the theater of a bustling brasserie, while others want a quiet corner for conversation. Whichever you choose, you will find that Reims takes its meat seriously, and the city’s chefs are ready to prove it one perfectly seared cut at a time.
