Nestled between the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees, Girona is a city where medieval history and modern culinary innovation collide. Walking through its cobblestone streets, you are just as likely to find a traditional family-run bistro as you are a cutting-edge gastronomic temple. For food lovers, this Catalan gem offers one of the most concentrated dining scenes in Europe.
The city’s culinary reputation has skyrocketed in recent years, largely thanks to a certain three-Michelin-starred restaurant that put it on the global map. However, limiting your dining experience to just one reservation would be a mistake. The true magic of Girona lies in its diversity, from rustic tapas bars hidden in the old Jewish Quarter to elegant dining rooms overlooking the Onyar River.
Understanding the local food culture is key to enjoying your visit. Catalan cuisine is deeply rooted in "mar i muntanya" (sea and mountain), meaning you will often find meat and seafood paired together in surprising ways. Ingredients are sourced meticulously, with a heavy emphasis on seasonal produce from the surrounding Empordà region.
For travelers, dining times in Girona are typically Spanish, meaning lunch is served from roughly 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, and dinner rarely starts before 8:30 PM. Because the historic center is compact, you can easily walk between courses or explore the ancient walls between meals. Planning ahead is essential, as the best tables book up weeks in advance.
Whether you are visiting for a weekend break or a longer exploration of Catalonia, this guide covers the essential dining experiences. We have focused on establishments that offer not just incredible food, but also a sense of place. You will find options ranging from historic taverns to avant-garde tasting menus.
This curated list balances international acclaim with local favorites to ensure you taste the true essence of the region. We have considered atmosphere, value, and authenticity alongside the quality of the cooking. Below, you will find the definitive guide to the best tables in the city.
Here is our selection of the 15 best restaurants in Girona, covering everything from Michelin-starred legends to beloved neighborhood haunts.

We had a wonderful meal here! I ordered the duck paella and a squid ink croquette, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were incredible, and you could tell everything was made with great care and high quality ingredients.
We did have to wait a little while for the food, but it was completely worth it because everything arrived fresh and straight from the pan. The presentation was beautiful and made the experience even more enjoyable.
The restaurant itself was spotless, with a stylish, modern interior that created a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere.
The service was professional, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. We truly enjoyed every single bite. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make it well worth the cost. I would happily return!

Food fantastic. Amazing quality food. Only 2 members of staff, slightly too much work for them. Really enjoyed the experience overall

Food was very tasty. Scallops were perfect and cheese dessert was very creamy and full of local cheese flavors

We chose this restaurant based on its excellent reviews, but unfortunately, we left quite disappointed. A minor issue was that our waitress, despite being incredibly friendly, didn't speak English. The bigger problem, however, was the complete lack of an English menu – only a Catalan one was available. This language barrier made deciding what to eat extremely difficult.
For starters, we ordered two portions of croquettes (one with shrimp and the other with foie gras). The taste was acceptable, but the portions were remarkably small. For the main course, we ordered the rice with scallops, prawns, mushrooms, and pork (which was highly praised in other reviews), but sadly, it truly wasn't good. The pork was tough and chewy, the scallops were tasteless, though the prawns were fine. The rice itself tasted burnt. We also ordered a bottle of red wine, which was pleasant.
All in all, the food was just okay. The significant issue was the absence of an English menu. Ultimately, there are many better places in Girona to enjoy finer food with better service.
Personally, I don't think reviews on Google do not reflect the actual experience overall.

This is an amazing hidden gem in Girona. Well executed Mediterranean flavors and fresh ingredients. Service was very attentive and welcoming. Very good food and we will definitely be back, making it part of our “go-to” restaurants whenever we are in town. Bravo to the chef and his family for this wonderful addition to the La Devesa neighborhood.

JF R★★★★★
We always carry high expectations when dining at a multi-starred restaurant and a consistent fixture on the World’s 50 Best list. El Celler de Can Roca not only met those expectations — it did so convincingly.
The setting is stunning. Whether you’re in the courtyard or inside the dining room, every space feels beautifully considered and thoughtfully designed.
What struck us most about the meal itself was how effortlessly three hours passed. The experience unfolds across 15 bites followed by 15 small dishes, served in smooth, continuous succession without long gaps between courses. You’re always in the moment, always engaged — a rare quality at this level.
The food is simply outstanding. Dish after dish showed extraordinary mastery, with many rising to the level of truly exceptional. The precision and creativity across the entire menu is deeply impressive.
The service team deserves special recognition. The waitstaff are warm and genuinely attentive, but what sets them apart is their versatility — each member seamlessly adapts their role during service, keeping the dining room fluid and the pace brisk. The communication within our service group was particularly well-coordinated.
For this caliber of experience, the value is remarkably fair — food, wine, and digestifs included.
In short, El Celler de Can Roca stands among the very best restaurants we’ve had the privilege to experience at this level. A masterclass in cuisine, service, and the art of hospitality.
Umut Apartments★★★★★
An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully presented, incredibly creative, and full of perfectly balanced flavors. The service was warm, attentive, and made the evening feel truly special. El Celler de Can Roca absolutely deserves its reputation as one of the world’s finest restaurants.

Probably one of the worst dining experience in any restaurant (let alone fine dining ones). There are so many wrong things with this restaurant I don’t even know where to start:
1. The place has zero ambience, no music, so all you constantly hear is the waiters walking, trolleys rolling and people eating at the next tables.
2. We are surrounded by not one but three service stations, all around us, the entire evening is constant noise of plates and glasses clink clonging, and waiting staff talking to each other.
3. It’s like dining in a IKEA furniture store with wine trolley, bread trolley, service trolley all put right in front of our face, as you can see in the photo/video.
4. The staff have zero smile, they walk around like robots completely emotionless. No interaction with the clients except explaining the dishes.
I do not understand how this restaurant could be one of the best in the world when it’s worse than any average restaurants out there. The clients need to be more honest in writing their reviews so the others can avoid an unpleasant experience.
There are way many nicer restaurants in Barcelona with much better food and service. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Simply wow. Having visited many michelin starred restaurants you are less and less surprised but then comes Celler de Can Roca and shows you how this should be done from every perspective. Amazing food with no shortcuts, perfect and friendly service and when you are done you still have the feeling that you want to stay and spend more time in their terrace. Will surely be back!

Wow wow wow! What a wonderful experience we had at El Celler de Can Roca, just mind-blowing. It is almost impossible to put in words the innovation that this restaurant in bringing, exceptional flavours combined with an impeccable service. All the points to the entire Can Roca team because this truly has been one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had!

A Thursday evening. Attentive service, a welcome Bellini on arrival, (plus a chocolate liquor later). The pasta we had, as my daughter would say, the flavours were melting on my tongue, fantastic. Lemon sole perfecto, fillet of beef superb. Wish this place the success it deserves. Dessert faultless. Lovely relaxing and enjoyable chilled background music, Have paid double elsewhere for half the pleasure. Thankyou Marc.

Fantastic Italian food! My husband and I were visiting from New York and wanted a taste of home and this was the perfect place to be. We did not have a reservation but were seated quickly. The place was busy and people looked like they were enjoying themselves! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the food was excellent! We had the burrata, cacio e pepe pasta, seafood risotto and tiramisu and it was all simply exquisite. It was great speaking to the owner, who is authentically Italian as well - so it absolutely shows in his food. Would absolutely visit again. Grazie tantissimo!

We are love Don Giovanni Ristorante! We had dinner there twice during our stay in Tossa. First night we had cannelloni and lobster spaghetti, the second time mixed paella and diavola pizza. Everything is so tasty. The pizza is so tasty! Also tried the chocolate fondant with ice cream, which was heavenly! The staff and the owner are all so friendly, we were offered Limoncello the last night. We will be back next year. We can only recommend eating at Giovanni’s !

A fantastic experience! We visited for the set lunch menu and were thoroughly impressed. Everything was delicious and clearly prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The service was impeccable—attentive and professional. Highly recommended if you’re looking for top-tier food and great atmosphere in Girona!

I was so pleasantly surprised to discover Casa Flora—it has a style and concept very similar to a restaurant I love in the U.S.
The atmosphere, service, and food were all fantastic. Everything was fresh, well-balanced, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. I’m so glad I chose to have lunch at Casa Flora the day before leaving Spain—it was the perfect farewell meal.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Girona 👌 I have been there many times and I just love the food and the service. I can highly recommend this restaurant !!!!! 🤩
Hoong Nan Young★★★★★
What a WONDERFUL recommendation by a local tour guide in Girona! On our recent 18 day trip to Spain, Casa Flora Girona was one of only two restaurants that we ate at that I did not research in advance. Instead, a local tour guide recommended this restaurant to us for lunch, and we are so glad he did! We showed up about 10 minutes before they opened for lunch, and asked if we could get a table for lunch when they opened. The owner told us no problem, and when we returned at 1 pm, the owner sat us down at one of only two tables with a river view! The servicers were all so kind, and we had no problems communicating even though we spoke no Spanish or Catalan. And the food was delicious! If you are in Girona, we highly recommend dining at Casa Flora!
Billy B★★★★★
Absolutely loved this place.
We were in Girona for 4 days and had our lunch here twice - 4 of us the first time and 6 of us the second time and everyone was of the same opinion - truly fantastic food, with outstanding service.
The set menu is exceptionally good value at €24,90 for the quality of the food and changes on a daily basis.
The duck was exceptional and every other dish was very, very close behind it.
Had we stayed longer, and if they did dinner (they only do lunch), we would have definitely eaten there again.
Very well deserved 5 stars, will definitely be back when we are anywhere near Girona!

Boutique wine bar with fantastic wine & food. Cool plaza. Staff are friendly. The leeks are a must do. Pair with Riesling from Alsace. The crispy pig trotters - those are a hell yeh. Liked the music. Well worth a visit.
STAN UNWIN★★★★★
Great atmosphere, amazing wine and food was some of the best tapas we’ve had. Generous portions and interesting menu, really friendly staff. Busy place on a Monday when most of the city was quiet, so recommend booking.
Michael Higham★★★★★
We came here as a large group of 11 people for a celebration and had some of the best tapas we have had in all of Catalunya. Whilst having a set menu, there was a great variety of dishes, all of which were incredibly tasty. We came here on a Friday night and it was very lively, so I would definitely recommend booking ahead, but the whole place had a fantastic atmosphere. The service was also great, especially given we were a large group, and we had one server who catered fantastically to our table. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Girona to try this place!
T. Valdes★★★★★
What a wonderful surprise. The Tapas are delicious. We had the croquettes, leek with bellota ham, burrata, pesto and pistachio and the stuffed croissant. They were all delicious. Each was flavorful and beautifully presented. Our servers were extremely friendly, approachable and polite. This restaurant opens at 6:30 pm which is perfect for us. Three tapas of this size was plenty. I didn’t have room for dessert.
Adrian★★★★★
Very, very good service with excellent english and very capable of explaining the various dishes and the wine selection. The production and wines are sourced locally and the food was excellent with good portions. Highly recommend.

This is s fantastic restaurant that serves really good food. It's busy during lunch but quiet at dinner, according to the very friendly waiter. The menu is seasonal and changes, but the duck breast I had was tasty, as well the artichokes with foie gras sauce! It's just a little fifteen walk outside the center of Girona and definitely worth it. Highly recommended.

An outstanding experience with high quality food from a short but generous and fresh menu. The service was impecable with one of the most friendly and professional at the same time that I've ever met. Thank you for a very nice Saturday evening!
Huy Nguyen★★★★★
So far our favorite meal after a week in Girona, and we have had many good meals in this city! If a restaurant could feel like home and be upscale at the same time, this is the place.
The service is professional, but very friendly and welcoming. With each bite or sip my wife and I wondered how this place could have anything short of five stars.
The truly surprising part is all of this is delivered at a price that is remarkably reasonable.
I urge anyone visiting Girona to put this on your "must visit" list!!
Girona Foodies★★★★★
Honestly, La Farinera was a very pleasant surprise. The ambiance is clean, relaxed, minimalist and bright — really nice to be in.
The food is genuinely high level. The proposal on the plate is excellent and you can tell they’re working with good ingredients and solid technique.
My only criticism is that they have a tendency to bring the dishes out a bit cold, especially in winter. For the level they’re aiming at, that’s a serious mistake that should be easy to fix (probably just need better plate warmers in the pass).
Still, overall a very recommendable spot. I’d go back.
Elisa Gottardi★★★★★
Not far from the train station, this is one of the best restaurants in Girona in my opinion.
It offers a relaxing location in an historical building with a pleasant outdoor terrace.
The food is traditional catalán with a twist, done the best way.
What makes it unforgettable is the flawless service held by Martí.
Definitely a place to come back to!

Spectacular lunch. Testing menu only. Everything was really good, beautifully presented and in sufficient quantities, so we were full almost like after a dinner. Very pleasant ambience and great service too. No hesitation to recommend.

Great product and lots of love in the kitchen. Excellent meats cooked at the special grill, tasty and tender. Fish products of high quality too. Staff were professional and gentle. The space is comfortable and casual.

I will definitely come back in future !!!

Best meal I've had in years. My only fault is that I didn't have more nights to try everything on the menu. Antonia takes excellent care of the front of the house, Chef Jorge covers the back, with a charcoal grill that won't disappoint. A must if in Girona!
Anders Hogberg★★★★★
Great place with amazing food. Tried their lunch menu. Snacks, 3 different starters of good size, main course, and desert for €25 is top value for this high quality cuisine.

Unbelievable food and service by the owners and staff!! Probably one of the best meals I have ever had in my life and believe me I’ve eaten at a lot of restaurants.. I have over 22,000,000 views on my food photos on Google!! The decor in the restaurant is one of a kind!! They made my husbands 60th birthday something to remember forever!! Thank you so much!!

Absolutely incredible restaurant. Fabulous service and staff. The starters were delicious, such theatre watching the scallops being blow torched. The octopus was melt in the mouth. Absolutely fantastic! Thank you!! Hopefully we’ll be back!
Brian Berkowicz★★★★★
I love this place. Galician Octopus is the best octopus I’ve ever had. I didn’t know it could be that tender. The scallops with the foie was so fresh and delicious. My wife got the octopus, monkfish, and clam stew and we’re currently finishing up the broth with bread. Owners are so friendly, music of great. Don’t hesitate on coming here.
Bill Wilkie★★★★★
Excellent seafood restaurant, specialising in octopus. The portions aren't huge, but if you have 3 courses you'll be fine. The scallop starter was a great theatrical performance, with blow torching caramelisation at the table. The mains of Galician octopus and seared tuna were superb. The home-made desserts of chocolate cake and cheesecake were also outstanding. The cheesecake was lacking a biscuit base, so it's just the soft cheese part, but maybe that's just how it's done here. It tasted good nonetheless. I got the impression that the waiter was also the owner and that's often the best type of restaurant. He was very friendly and appeared to love his job. I'd highly recommend this restaurant if you like octopus.
Emily Bosworth★★★★★
Me and my boyfriend made a reservation for a weekend away and this was definitely our favourite meal of the trip! The food was amazing and the service was so good. The galician octopus was delicious and we also really enjoyed the scallops. I highly recommend this restaurant if you love seafood or just fancy something a bit different!

Rui César Silva★★★★★
Definitely a "must" to eat when in Girona. The look and feel of the restaurant is rather unique and service as well. The food was incredible, typically Catalan and not "adjusted" to serve tourist and you could see that this was a prefered restaurante from local Gironian folk. The anchovies, the fava beans and the snails were delicious. A small point to consider: this restaurant is in the city center and if you do not book in advance it may be difficult to get table. Other than that, it is a great experience.
Oscar Hubertsson★★★★☆
A lovely spot to sit down after visiting Girona during the Temps de Flors festival. The food is truly delicious and the staff we interacted with were kind and welcoming. The Catalan dishes are particularly worth your attention, highly recommend trying whatever is on the menu from the local cuisine.
The only downside is that getting attention from the staff and actually securing a table can be a bit of a challenge, even when the restaurant isn’t particularly busy. A small frustration, but not enough to overshadow the experience.
Absolutely worth a visit if you’re in Girona.
Carlos Discounts★★★★★
The food is really good here, but the place can get really busy during lunch time so recommend reservations.
They have a pretty wide variety of foods, from pasta to vegetables to meats and even exotic stuff like the pictured snail.
Also pictured is goat cheese salad and vegetarian pasta.
If I'm ever in Girona again, I'll definitely come back as I think the food is worth it.
Hanna H★★★★★
This one came highly recommended—and it absolutely delivered.
We first stopped into Casa Marieta for a light lunch, and it was so good we found ourselves back again for dinner the same day.
The shoulder of lamb was beautifully succulent, and the traditional broad beans were full of flavour—simple, local dishes done really well. Paired with a fresh salad, it was the perfect balance and not too heavy, which meant we still had room for dessert.
The crocant and crème brûlée were the ideal sweet finish.
Vanessa Agdon★★★★★
Place is great way to try Catalan food. Recommend by our tour guide. The Cod was cooked to perfection. The snails were so good too. Amat white wine was paired perfectly with our meal.

We did not come here with any particular expectations other than we were told it was a fabulous restaurant. But after experiencing it, I can honestly say it went above and beyond. The service attentive , the food incredible and atmosphere perfect. The starters, mains and deserts were all a culinary delight to remember. 10/10 😊

Spectacular lunch. We chose a 5 course testing menu. Everything was really good, except the artichoke (a bit cardboard like taste, perhaps not in season yet?). Everything was beautifully presented and in sufficient quantities. Very pleasant ambience and great service too. No hesitation to recommend.
Girona Foodies★★★★★
Honestly, Mimolet delivers a solid elevated Catalan experience without the usual pretentious stuff. The dishes are elaborate but built on honest, quality products. The tasting menu (degustation) is the way to go.
The space feels balanced — classy enough but still relaxed, and the private room is a nice touch. Service is professional and matches the level perfectly.
Around €80-100 per person. It can feel a bit formal for some people, but if you want proper fine dining that doesn’t take itself too seriously, it’s a reliable choice.
As a local, I respect places like this.

Fine dining in Girona. Excellent service, really great food, with vegetarian options. Well-seasoned. Pace of delivery was perfect, and presentation was nice. Great wine recommendation. Pretty interior, with great A/C on a hot evening. Would love to go again.

By far my favorite restaurant in Girona. The food is amazing! Nice presentation, so fresh and well just perfect. Ceviche, mussels and tartare were my favorite. The staff is very professional, friendly and excellent service. If you find yourself in Girona do yourself a favor and go eat at L’ Escabetx.

Fantastic seafood dishes, a definite must visit if you are in Girona. Every fish we tried was amazing, and service was super friendly.
Maria Stankovic★★☆☆☆
The food was below mediocre. They tried to be creative, but the flavors didn’t work well together and the dishes weren’t well prepared. The portions were also small compared to the price. The atmosphere and staff were just okay. We ordered four dishes and unfortunately, all of them were underwhelming. We left the restaurant disappointed.
Hailey Ng★★★★★
Our recent trip to Spain and Girona was truly unforgettable, and dining at l’Escabetx was the highlight of our experience.
Our waiter was friendly, taking the time to introduce the menu and recommend a wonderful wine pairing. As for the food, every dish was a delight.
If you're ever in the area, this restaurant is a must-visit—it truly made our trip special! Be sure to reserve a table in advance, as they are often fully booked.

Enjoyed an amazing dinner at LaFerla with their prix fixe menu. The burrata salad was fresh and the frame-grilled steak was perfectly cooked. Despite my limited Spanish, the waitress staff were very accommodating and helpful. The location near the cathedral can’t be beat! Note that there is a small surcharge to sit at one of the two terrace tables (€1 per person I believe).

Lovely food on a quiet midweek evening. Starters (burrata and zucchini) from the specials, and papadelle and lamb skewers were well presented and freshly made. Good house wine and great sweets. Pleased we made it here.

Menu of the day was really good. Certainly a place to go to. Good staff, speaks little English. Reservations are really recommended, place was full within minutes.
EDIT: This little gem popped up in my feed again, and I can't stress enough that this is really one of those hidden restaurants that serves Michelin-class food. Yes, it might be small, and yes, you will pass by it without knowing, but i went there because of the reviews left behind by other customers, and I have to say I was not disappointed at all. I put it in my favourites, and if someone believes I am not telling the truth, at least look at the pictures and tell me otherwise.

Fantastic food. We had starters of scallops and sausage/apple and then main cuttle fish risotto and rabbit. All taste great!
They are very kind to kids as well.

We dined here during our vacation in Girona, and it was honestly the best food I have ever had. We didn't make a reservation, but that was absolutely no problem and we immediately got a table. The personnel spoke English well and we were served really fast. The food and drinks were of amazing quality from starter to dessert; you could really taste that it was made from local, quality ingredients. Would really recommend this restaurant!

Sat in the garden, everything was incredible. Walk through the forest and you pop out at one of the best restaurants in Girona. Let yourself relax into the slowness of a Catalonian afternoon. Everything we ordered was incredible! Enjoy. And thank you for the wonderful lunch.

After a gorgeous morning hike, I arrived at the restaurant. I was so excited to try this place because I’ve walked by many times. I stood out front until exactly 1 PM when they opened and then I walked inside. I was created by a warm and welcoming young waiter and he let me pick anywhere I wanted to sit outside. The spot is absolutely gorgeous. Then he carefully explained all of the special specials to me in both Spanish and English. It was nearly impossible to decide. I started with a glass of cava which was delicious and he brought me out the tiniest little cup of potato soup. It also came with a generous portion of black olives that were covered in some kind of magic tomato sauce. For my first course, I had the aubergine salad. It was a very generous portion and absolutely delicious. I also had the sourdough bread which was very good. Then, I ordered the chicken couscous. Very large and hearty portion with additional sauce and hot sauce on the side. I loved every mouthful. I also had a very adorable lunch date that lives on the property. His name is Frodo and we are in love. 😻 I wish there were more stars to give this place; I absolutely cannot wait to go back.

Off the beaten path a 20min walk from town. A very private experience. Delicious food. We had the grilled eggplant appetizer, the grilled calamari with mushrooms, the lamb stew and the Moroccan seafood risotto. All incredible. Excellent service.

I stumbled upon this place while on a hike and I’m so glad I did. Was a great and relaxing lunch on the terrace. The staff is friendly and helpful, spoke English and made good recommendations. The food was just what I wanted and the atmosphere is delightful. There’s free wifi, with seating inside and out, they can also accommodate large groups. Would go again, even just for a glass of cava!

Very kind and friendly staff. The quality of the steak was on top. It is in a small street which you may find it not so easy but when you find it, you will never forget it . They offered a sauce to put on the steak. I was not sure to enjoy the taste of the steak alone or to try the sauce. I tried the sauce and the taste was elevated 100 times. I will go very soon again to eat another steak of the house.

The place is really cute with a cozy, warm vibe and really friendly hosts. The grill is open, so you can watch your food being made, and they do an awesome job with the steaks. Prices are fair, and the food comes out pretty fast - about 20 minutes for steaks. We tried the churrasco and choripan, and both were very tasty and simple in the best way.

Really sweet little place run by an older couple - food is cooked right in front of you and tastes absolutely delicious! A wonderful authentic meal 😁

Great chimichurri and empanadas were good too.
But overall very disappointed. Ordered the entraña expecting good things and it was chewy as hell, rubbery skin on top and bottom that I had to leave on the plate. Looked puffy, not like a proper steak. Flavor was alright but that’s about it.

This place is a hiden gem of Girona when it comes to food for me. When you compare prices, quality and taste it's the best choice for you. We have ordered Entrata A la Parrilla as a main dish for both of us, as a starter Tongue to Vinagrette and two glasses of white local wine. All of this were extremely good, steak was well seasoned and not gummy. Tounges in vinagrett well gives you very fresh feelings before main course. I would definietly came back here next time in Girona to try different sets. Cheers!

Well deserved 1 Michelin star. The starters were amazing and creative but like most Catalan restaurants they were less good when it came to non meat mains: my fish was overcooked and blah. They didn’t have enough non-meat dishes to cover a tasting menu for pescatarians so I evaded up with more fish starter dishes as fillers. They offer a selection of bread which I’d advise to avoid as neither the selection of butters nor bread were remarkable. Save room for desserts which is where the surprise and playfulness came back to the fore. The wine list is superbly curated with a stunning selection of Spanish wines.

Enjoyed an evening which delivered an exceptional experience and ever-lasting memory. Easily one of the greatest tasting menus with wine pairings I’ve had.
Art Lukas★★★★★
Fine dining done right! The 3 hours requiered for the tasting menu looked too much for us so we went for a la carte. They split the two first courses and we both had one main. Along with little bread, complimentary appetizers and sweets this proved to be more than sufficient. The food was really really good. We also got recommendations for wine by a glass that would match the food and our preferences. The service was amazing. It's not common even among the Michelin star restaurants to offer the kind of syncronized serving dance that they seemingly effortlessly provided. With total cost of ~120 eur per person the price level also seems very reasonable for this kind of experience. Highly recommended!

Great balance of efficiency speed finesse and sophistication. I don't want to dive into specifics as I don't want to give any spoilers, easily one of the top 10 restaurants Spain has to offer. It may be a bold claim, I wholeheartedly stand by it.
Food is meant be to savored and enjoyed, with a wonderful establishment that takes their role seriously, it will be a pleasure to remember every moment.
Noteworthy experience !

Fantastic, one of the best experiences with food that I have had it was very good.
The performance when they delivered the food and wine was impeccably timed.
It was great to hear the history of the business.
Each person was professional in their delivery of their own experiences for example the wine was delivered by a wine specialist who spoke about each wine from which region it came from and explained why it went with the food we were eating. Very impressive.10/10 I have already recommended to others !
Tips for Dining Out in Girona
To make the most of your culinary journey in Girona, it helps to understand the local dining etiquette and logistical nuances. Navigating reservations, timing, and menu formats can be the difference between a good meal and a transcendent one. Here are a few essential strategies to ensure you eat like a local and avoid common tourist pitfalls.
Book Ahead, Especially for Lunch
While you might get lucky walking into a casual tapas bar, any restaurant with a reputation requires a reservation. This is particularly true for lunch, which is often the busiest service in Catalonia due to the "menú del día" (fixed price lunch menu). Secure your table at least a week in advance for high-end spots, and a few days ahead for mid-range bistros.
Embrace the Menú del Día
If you want to experience high-quality Catalan cooking without breaking the bank, plan your main meal for lunchtime. Many of the city’s top kitchens offer a fixed-price menu during weekday afternoons. This usually includes three courses, bread, and a drink for a fraction of the à la carte dinner price, offering exceptional value.
Understand the "Mar i Muntanya" Concept
Don’t be confused when you see chicken paired with lobster or meatballs with cuttlefish. This is the traditional Catalan surf-and-turf philosophy. It creates deep, savory sauces that are unique to this part of Spain. Trust the chef and order these traditional combinations; they are often the best dishes on the menu.
Look Beyond Paella
While you can find paella in Girona, it is not the local specialty. To eat authentically, look for dishes like suquet de peix (a hearty fish stew), botifarra (local sausage) with white beans, or xuixo (a fried pastry filled with crema catalana) for dessert. Focusing on regional specialties will give you a much more authentic taste of Girona.
Prepare for Late Dinners
If you are dining at 7:00 PM, you will likely be alone in the restaurant. Most kitchens for dinner open at 8:00 PM or 8:30 PM. To bridge the gap, do as the locals do: take a late afternoon stroll and enjoy a vermouth or a glass of cava with a small tapa at a bar before heading to your dinner reservation.
Girona is a city that rewards the curious eater. While the world-famous tasting menus are undoubtedly spectacular, don’t overlook the simpler pleasures of a perfectly grilled piece of fish or a glass of local Empordà wine in a quiet square.
Every meal here tells a story of the landscape, from the volcanic soil of the Garrotxa to the salty breeze of the Mediterranean. Take your time, linger over your coffee, and let the flavors of this ancient city guide your journey.
