The area around Alameda de Hércules has evolved into one of the most vibrant culinary pockets of Seville. What was once a quiet promenade is now a bustling artery where the clinking of glasses mingles with the murmur of late-night conversation. It is here that the traditional Spanish bar culture has been reimagined by a new generation of hosts, while still holding onto the soul of the Andalusian tapeo. Finding a seat here isn’t just about eating; it is about participating in a social ritual that defines the city’s rhythm.
The sheer density of options can be overwhelming for a first-time visitor. You will find everything from century-old wood-paneled taverns serving sherry to sleek, modern spaces plating avant-garde bites. The competition is fierce, and the standard is exceptionally high, meaning that a mediocre establishment rarely survives long on this strip. To truly experience the area, you must be willing to wander slightly off the main promenade into the adjacent side streets, where some of the most authentic gems are hidden.
When we talk about tapas in this neighborhood, we are talking about a specific pace of life. This is not a place for rushed meals or silent dining. The atmosphere is electric, often spilling out onto the terraces and plazas. The scent of slow-braised pork cheeks, garlic prawns, and freshly fried fish wafts through the air, pulling you from one doorway to the next. It is a sensory experience that requires an empty stomach and a willingness to go with the flow.
The following guide is curated based on a strict criteria of product quality, atmosphere, and consistency. We have navigated the crowds and sampled the menus to bring you a selection that honors the diversity of this historic district. Whether you are looking for a robust glass of Rioja and a slice of tortilla, or a delicate fusion dish paired with a local vermouth, you will find a stool with your name on it here.
We have focused on venues that offer a genuine experience rather than a tourist trap. You will notice that the best places often have the busiest bars, a sign that the locals trust the kitchen. Don’t be afraid to stand at the bar, elbow to elbow with Sevillanos, and order with confidence. This is the authentic way to enjoy the Alameda, and it allows you to see the dishes as they fly out of the kitchen.
Before we get to the specific recommendations, it is worth noting that the dining schedule here is later than in many other European cities. Lunch typically starts around 1:30 PM, while dinner rarely kicks off before 9:00 PM. Arriving early might mean a quieter room, but arriving "on time" means you will be surrounded by the vibrant energy that makes this area so special. Come hungry, come thirsty, and prepare to move between a few spots to get the full picture.
Here are the establishments that currently define the tapas scene near Alameda de Hércules, presented in no particular order, as each offers a unique flavor of the neighborhood.

It's so lovely to sit at the square and enjoy a great meal with several tapas. The tapas where very good and the service was enjoyable, very attentive. The kids loved the croquetas and the traditional potato salad and grilled artichoke was to die for.
Sonya C★★★★★
Excellent Tapas!!! Don’t go at 1230pm when they open because they won’t be ready to serve until about 130pm. But was worth the wait!!! At 830pm they were on time for dinner. They don’t have the artichokes with bolognese on the menu anymore but everything else I tried was fantastic!!! Many delicious tapa to choose from. Including the quail, croquettes, Gilda especial, seafood burger, noodles with pork, basque cheesecake, BEST Spanish tortilla EVER!
Went for lunch AND dinner so I could try more dishes 🙂 it was a recommendation by my Niki tour guide, Ivan!
Lynn Braun★★★★★
Great vibe and tapas! Not sure if I’m finally figuring out how to order or if this place has better selection? Very busy, so be patient- upside, no rush if you want to just enjoy the atmosphere!
Chris Bonnett★★★★★
Awesome tapas, great drinks, friendly service and a great value. They have an amazing gilda tapa and I felt very much at home as a tourist in what seemed to be a locals tapas bar.
Merve Karacaoglu★★★★☆
This place a was gem. I came after reading good reviews and would definately recommend for tapas. When we entered, it seemed more like a bar than a tapas bar. But when we sat down, we saw a menu with a lot of variety. We tried the vermouth, sangria blanco, chiccharon, cuttlefish burger, iberico ham, and tomato salad (not in picture). The waitress was super friendly and helpful, we had amazing service. Definately worth a visit.

A great restaurant for authentic Andalusian tapas. The menu has so many good options that it is hard to make a decision what to have. I will definitely be coming back here to order more of what's on offer. Paco commands the waiters from the front of the street whilst simultaneously enticing customers inside. The wine and beer is well priced and the food is delicious. I highly recommend that you visit if you like tapas. We were lucky to get a portion of Torrija since we were close to Easter.

Went here one year ago today with my girlfriend and our friend after we checked out the Hercules columns. Got sangrias, patatas bravas (Potatoes with hot and garlic sauce), and a seafood paella. Everything tasted great. Recommend Las Columnas if you’re travelling to Seville.

Our waiter Alex was an excellent resource in helping us choose the house favorites in Sevilla! He helped tremendously with our meals and kept us wowed with each plate that came and eventually the mouthwatering desserts. Thanks again, Alex! Everybody go ask for Alex!!!
Marinela K★★★★★
This restaurant is amazing. The atmosphere is alive, friendly and has the best vibe. The food is authentic, flavourful and the portions are huge, the best value for your money. The staff are very friendly and Alex is absolutely incredible. He takes customer service to the next level. He truly cares about making his customers feel welcome and goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable, have everything you need and are enjoying the food. He answers all of your questions and is more than willing to help tourists with whatever inquiries they have. During our week long stay in Sevilla last year, we only ate dinner at this restaurant. We returned again this summer and did the very same thing. The menu is large and there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy. I would rate this restaurant a 20/10. Ask for Alex when we visit!

Great food with delicious traditional and local dishes. The hospitality was outstanding and Alex made the experience even better with his warm, friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed the food, we had 6 tapas, a bottle of wine and Coke Zero for € 68 total. Great veggie and meat options.
Hassan and his team were really nice and delivered great service, we would definitely come back.
Relax atmosphere and great vibes.
Only downside was that we got bread that we didn’t order and didn’t touch but still had to pay €1 each person for it.
Nanouk★★★★★
After a bit of online searching (if I do it on the spot I’ll be dead before I find something)I found Alcazar. It had a good rating for the food and the people and I have to say that Hassan and his team didn’t disappoint. The food was very good and I found the prices very reasonable. I had the sizzling garlic shrimp, the aubergine with goats cheese and some patatas bravas. All were amazing! The only thing missing was some music.
Cassandra Calescu★★★★★
Lovely outdoor area in a beautiful and colourful street. We ordered the tuna tataki and corvina fish - both really delicious! Also Hassan and his team were very nice and recommending dishes based on our tastes.

What a fantastic way to end our trip to Seville. We chose ALCÁZAR ANDALUSÍ TAPAS for our final meal, and it exceeded every expectation.
The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about providing a great dining experience. Their recommendations and service made us feel welcome from start to finish.
The food was outstanding. Every tapa, main course, and dessert was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and made with high-quality ingredients. Honestly, every dish we ordered was a 5 out of 5.
The atmosphere was warm, authentic, and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy traditional Andalusian cuisine. If you’re visiting Seville and looking for exceptional food and service, this restaurant is a must-visit.
Thank you to the entire team for making our last night in Seville so memorable. Absolutely deserving of five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I ate and drank here daily because of the handsome and friendly servers and the awesome menu with great prices. My favorites were the anchovy, tuna skewers, and tortilla. The tortilla was unique because it has roasted garlic on top. Yum!
Carlos Ruiz Bonnet★★★★★
Great service and I was certainly surprised with the great taste. I was ready to order another plate. Cold beer and friendly staff. We enjoyed our time at Casa Paco, thank you.
Kooky Critic★★★★★
Surprised at how good the food was here. Stopped by for lunch near the Hércules and winter Market. The prices were affordable, no tourist trap here. The portions were great.
The meals were probably some of the best we had in Seville so far. The Toastada Salmon was sublime. The Burrata and Zuchini salad was deliciousness. And the Bocadillo de Calamari was certainly worth searching for here.
Service was great, no complaints there.
Location, outside terasse with fore heaters, a nice touch. Honestly nothing to complain at all, would return every day for lunch.
Sadik Kovaci★★★★★
Fantastic place, delicious food and great people. Real Spanish experience unlike going into main town which is very touristy and crowded. The food was reasonably priced...a family of 4 for £60 not bad.
Ivy Sun★★★★★
Really good food!
We visited Barcelona and Mallorca before coming to Seville, really didn’t want to have Tapas anymore but our hotel staff recommended this place so we came. All these tapas we haven’t seen before, and they are all incredibly yummy!!! I ll crave for them when I leave Seville.
Especially the zucchini burrata salad, I have tried this in another restaurant, Casa paco has done it way way better! The sauce was so good, we used the bread to clean the plate.
Everything else was very good too, price is so so much better than Barcelona and Mallorca, definitely will come back for other options!

Julia Ribeira★☆☆☆☆
this was truly one of the worst if not the worst restaurant experiences ive had in all of Spain (believe me, i live near Sevilla and what they are serving are not paellas, its just burnt oily rice). Not only did we have to wait more than one hour for our “paellas” (that only serve one person) to arrive, which arrived separately (2 came first then the other two took almost 20 more minutes to come) but also they mixed up our orders and told us the marisco paella’s were sevilla’s mixed paella’s. the staff was not that friendly nor helpful, most of the positive reviews must be from friends or locals that know anyone related to this restaurant because there is no way anyone ever actually enjoyed this place. the women’s toilet was also broken so you have to use the men’s (which is really dirty and almost looks like a storage room). truly wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy, don’t waste your money or your time like we did.
David Lund Nordborg★☆☆☆☆
I would not recommend anyone buying from their tapas menu!
The food was really bad and old.
The olives tasted disgusting and had mold spots. The so called “Spanish tortilla” was like a dry cake baked five days ago and then served.
I ordered a strawberry smoothie, it tasted like water.
I feel bad, my stomach feels sick and I payed too much for this tourist trap.
Moon Zara★★★★★
Located on a very nice sunny terrace, the staff were very friendly despite my broken Spanish. I had a breakfast and prices were really good. The quality of the food was also amazing!
Henry Crawford★★☆☆☆
Overpriced, poor quality food. You could tell the croquettes and meatballs were frozen. Nice staff
NELSON WEDER★☆☆☆☆
Worse experience ever! They charged us 5.5 euros for one tinto de verano. The normal price is 3.5 and without telling us they charged more. That's totally unfair.

Some dishes excellent and others just ok. Highly recommend tuna tartare toast- so yummy!!! Roasted vegetables were good except the eggplant pieces tasted kind of off/metallic. Patatas bravas was more like fries. We liked the Wok Vegana- tasted like classic Chinese takeout. Overall appreciate the variety and lots of veggie options.

Spotted: two Brits in Seville discovering that the quickest way to their hearts isn’t romance… it’s tapas. 💋🇪🇸
Tonight’s rendezvous? Suspiro. And apparently, this little Sevillian secret knows exactly how to make an entrance.
Prawns swimming in the silkiest, most delicious sauce, beautifully cooked octopus with smoky vegetables, and tacos that may have been small in stature but certainly weren’t lacking in personality. Every plate that arrived had us immediately wondering whether ordering another would be considered excessive.
Spoiler alert: in Spain, we’ve decided it isn’t. 💅🏼
The only thing missing? An English menu. But two Englishmen arriving in Seville and expecting everyone to accommodate our questionable linguistic abilities? Darling, even Gossip Girl can recognise British arrogance when she sees it. 😂 Google Translate exists for a reason.
Great atmosphere, gorgeous food, beautiful presentation and exactly the kind of place you hope to stumble across on a warm Seville evening.
Suspiro, you had us at the first tapa.
And judging by those empty plates, this love affair is far from complicated.
You know you love me.
XOXO

The interior of restaurant is absolutely beautiful. We had a tapas of tuna tataki and patatas bravas, and a special salad. Everything tasted so delicious and fresh.
The staff is very friendly and communicative Not overpriced. We definitely recommend it.
Meredith Lane★★★★☆
Overall, I’ll keep this place in mind for options to eat on/near the alameda, but nothing particularly jumped out at me. Like, I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back. The burrata was very, very salty and the jamón croquetas were missing something. #mr

A wonderful place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Santiago was extremely kind, attentive, and professional, making us feel genuinely looked after.
The coffee was excellent, the wine was very good, and the food was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavourful, and beautifully prepared. Everything was delicious.
Highly recommended, and I would happily come back again!

A lovely traditional tapas bar!
We went here on our first night in Seville and loved the food, particularly the croquettes and flamenquin. Great value for money, with a few of the half portion sizes being a good amount to share.
We arrived shortly after opening and didn’t struggle to get a table, but it does get busy fast!
Obezojenik Hareketler★★★★★
One of my favorite places in Seville. Had a wonderful dinner here and tasted alot from the menu. Went there right after they opened and had a chance to sit. Fried aubergine was delicious. Baked camembert was also lovely. If you like sweets with savoury, highly recommended. Pork tenderloin was deliciouuus. Artichoke with ham was great with the sauce. Fried fish was a little salty. And finally tried their famous croquette, and it lived up to the hype.
Sofia S.★★★★★
I came here thanks to a local friend, he said these were the best croquetas in Seville and he was right! So crunchy and creamy at the same time. We managed to get a table at around 2pm, but it’s usually very crowded
Darren Marshall★★★★★
A true local gem in Seville. Casa Ricardo (Antigua Casa Ovidio) serves wonderfully rustic, traditional tapas packed with flavour and character. Every dish felt authentic and lovingly prepared, showcasing the kind of honest cooking that has made this place a local favourite for generations.
The atmosphere is warm, lively and full of charm, with friendly service that makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The drinks and tapas are also very reasonably priced—we enjoyed a fantastic selection for two people for around €25, which felt incredible value for the quality and experience.
If you’re looking for authentic Sevillian tapas away from the tourist traps, this is a place not to miss. Delicious food, genuine character and excellent value. Highly recommended.
Ana M★★★★★
A tapas bar worth waiting for, make sure to arrive 10-20 mins early if you’re hoping to get a seat at the bar or a small table.
The croquetas are a must have! All the dishes we tried were amazing and the service is fast and efficient. Prices are also unbeatable. Many of the dishes come in 3 sizes (tapa, 1/2 portion or full portion).

The food was okay, but the service wasn't great, and a 10% service fee on top of the bill was unacceptable. The table wasn't cleared long after we finished our food. We enjoyed most of the tapas, except for the Andalusian potato salad and the chicken wings.

Easily the best place in Seville for a relaxed, casual meal in an open piazza full of life
The food was awesome without a word of a lie. So many great vegan options combined with some of the best meat options in the whole of Seville. Waiter was very Spanish but tried his hardest to interpret us. Super highly recommended...

Absolutely loved it, the fusion, the flavours are so perfect. We were greeted with tasty fresh olives and all drinks are affordable. I took grilled salmon and my partner took chicken skewers it was soooooo tasty. For starters we also had hummus which very good and fresh.
Plus everything was very affordable.

I liked the food, but was not very happy with how long it took to bring the different dishes, I.e. they didn’t come together so by the time you ate one of the plates, you had to wait for the others to arrive.

had a solo dinner in this lil restaurant. The server was so gentle and he recommended me a great dish. I spent only 30 euros which is great tbh, i took a salmon plate, taboule salad, 2 cokes and a glass of white wine. They also give u bread, cracker and olives as soon as u arrive.
Essential Tips for Navigating the Alameda Tapas Scene
To make the most of your culinary crawl through this lively district, a little local knowledge goes a long way. The etiquette and flow of a Sevillian tapas bar can be daunting if you are unfamiliar with the customs. By understanding how to order, when to arrive, and what to look for, you will elevate your experience from a simple meal to a genuine cultural immersion. Keep these practical pointers in mind as you hop from bar to bar.
Stand at the Bar When Possible
While sitting on the terrace is lovely for people-watching, standing at the bar is often cheaper and faster. Many establishments charge a small supplement for "terraza" or "mesa" (table service). By standing at the bar, you also get a front-row seat to the action, allowing you to point at dishes that look appealing rather than guessing from a menu.
Embrace the "Ronda" System
A tapas crawl is not a single-course meal. It is a series of rounds. Order one or two tapas and a drink, finish them, pay, and move to the next place. Trying to order a full three-course meal at a single tapas bar in this area misses the point of the social experience. Keep moving to feel the pulse of the neighborhood.
Look for the Crowded Local Spots
If a bar is packed with people speaking Spanish and there is a pile of napkins on the floor, you have found the right place. Napkins on the floor are a sign of a busy, casual bar, not a dirty one. Do not be deterred by the chaos; a high turnover rate means the ingredients are fresh and the kitchen is on point.
Ask for the "Fuera de Carta"
Many of the best dishes in Alameda are not written on the printed menu. They are written on chalkboards or simply recited by the waiter. Always ask, "¿Qué tenéis hoy?" or "¿Qué hay fuera de carta?" This is how you find the seasonal specialties, the fresh fish of the day, or the chef’s experimental creation.
Order Local Drinks
Skip the international beer brands and order what the locals drink. In Seville, this means a cold "caña" (small draft beer), a glass of Manzanilla or Fino sherry, or a "vermut" (vermouth) on the rocks. For non-drinkers, a "tinto de verano" (red wine with lemon soda) is a light, refreshing alternative that pairs perfectly with fried food.
The beauty of the Alameda de Hércules is that it refuses to stand still. The menus change with the seasons, new chefs take over old kitchens, and the crowd evolves throughout the night. What remains constant is the quality of the produce and the pride of the people serving it. This is a neighborhood that rewards curiosity, so do not be afraid to walk down a side street that looks promising or try a dish you have never heard of before.
As the evening winds down, you will likely find yourself lingering over one last drink, watching the plazas empty and fill again with the late-night crowd. That is the magic of this place. It is not just about the food on the plate, but the rhythm of the street around you. Take your time, enjoy the company, and let the Alameda reveal itself to you one tapa at a time.
