12 Best Hotels Near the Roman Amphitheatre

Finding the right place to stay can transform a simple city break into an unforgettable journey through history. When visiting one of Spain’s most impressive archaeological treasures, the Roman Amphitheatre, your choice of accommodation sets the tone for the entire trip. Whether you are an early riser hoping to catch the sunrise over the ancient stones or a night owl eager to sample local tapas, location is everything.

Staying near the amphitheatre means more than just a short walk to the ruins. It places you in the beating heart of the old town, where winding cobblestone streets lead to hidden plazas and family-run bodegas. You trade the hassle of taxis and parking for the luxury of stepping out of your door and immediately feeling the pulse of centuries of history beneath your feet.

The neighborhoods surrounding these ancient arenas often feature a mix of boutique hotels housed in restored palaces and modern establishments with rooftop terraces. These properties offer a unique duality: contemporary comfort behind historic facades. Many boast views that allow you to sip your morning coffee while gazing directly at the very arches where gladiators once prepared for combat.

Choosing the right hotel requires balancing your desire for atmosphere with practical needs like soundproofing and modern amenities. Because these areas are highly sought after by tourists, the best rooms with views tend to book out months in advance, especially during the spring and autumn festival seasons. Planning ahead is essential to secure a stay that matches your expectations for both comfort and authenticity.

Accessibility is another key factor to consider. While staying in the historic center is incredibly romantic, some ancient streets are restricted to local traffic or feature uneven stone paving. If you are arriving by car or have mobility concerns, selecting a hotel that offers a private drop-off zone or is located on the perimeter of the pedestrian area can save you significant logistical stress.

Ultimately, the ideal hotel acts as a quiet sanctuary after a day of exploring. It should offer a comfortable bed to rest tired legs and a knowledgeable concierge who can direct you to the best local dining spots away from the tourist traps. With the right base, your visit to the amphitheatre becomes more than a sightseeing stop; it becomes an immersive cultural experience.

To help you narrow down the options, we have curated a selection of exceptional properties that offer prime access, outstanding service, and distinct character. Whether you are looking for five-star luxury or a charming boutique hideaway, these accommodations ensure you are perfectly positioned to explore the ancient heart of the city.

We had a good stay at Hotel Puerta de Bilbao. The family room was spacious, but the sofa bed for our children, aged 10 and 12, was hardly big enough. The breakfast was okay, and the hotel is nice overall. One thing that could be improved is the pool area. Some of the sun loungers were already reserved with towels before 10 a.m., making them unavailable for other guests. A clearer policy on reserving pool chairs would make the experience fairer for everyone. Dinner at the restaurant is good and enjoyable! The bathroom layout could be improved. The toilet and bidet are placed very close together, with little space next to the washbasin. The toilet paper dispenser is also not very practical to use. Overall, it’s a nice hotel, and we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel Puerta de Bilbao is a large hotel that works well if you're visiting the exhibition hall. It's a fair walk from the metro station, but I didn't mind. The staff are exceptionally friendly, especially at the bar & restaurant where I enjoyed reading and relaxing in the spacious setting. The restaurant is really good and you can observe them while they cook. Rooms are generously sized with a desk and sofa, though they're a bit dated. The bathroom had some issues, water leaked from my shower and I had to cover the floor in advance with towels. However, the excellent service and truly outstanding breakfast more than make up for it. The scale and access are impressive. The pool was closed during my visit (end of May), but it opens in June and is quite small anyway. Worth considering if you prioritize space, service, and a great breakfast over the newest furnishings. Recommended!

Lovely rooms lovely people and under ground parking. Food is amazing as well

As long-time Marriott Ambassadors, we rarely step outside our usual circle of hotels—but this stay at Puerto de Bilbao Hotel proved well worth it. We chose the property for its easy access to the ferry port and the security of its underground parking, and it delivered exactly what we needed. Our suite was warm, comfortable, and well equipped for an overnight stop. Simple, but spot on. We also tried the tasting menu in the restaurant, and at €42—including wine, water, and coffee—it was outstanding value. Breakfast the following morning was just as impressive. And a special thank-you to Alfonso, who went out of his way to secure the very last table for lunch. That kind of service makes a difference. A great choice for anyone passing through Bilbao.

The room very good, a quiet place but the room was hot and the air condition don't work good. The breakfast very good, a clean place, the attention of the staff great.

We came here with a group of 30 school kids from the UK. While the hotel was pleasent and rooms modern and well looked after, the service wasn't always great and the food was a struggle. The swimming pool was clean but small. The breakfast option was limited, the packed lunches were the same each day. Dinners weren't great. However, the waitress who served our food was very kind and helpful.
Jessica Cummins★★☆☆☆
The room I stayed in had 4 beds, the bunk beds had no railing and if you fell it was on to a hard floor. My bed had yellow stains on the sheets. The door fell off of the wardrobe and the room smelt strange as we were next to the laundry room, the smell was horrible.

Very nice staff! The hotel and rooms needs a renovation and when you arrive later in the day you can not park your car due to limited parking space.

**NOT A 3-STAR HOTEL** In terms of friendliness and service, it's a 5-star hotel. We really enjoyed our stay, which included thoughtful touches like a refrigerator and air conditioning. We also enjoyed the pool, which was a real treat. You start your day with a delicious and reasonably priced breakfast that gives you the energy you need for a hike through the Suances countryside. The hotel looks renovated and tastefully decorated.

Nice rooms, friendly staff but I found my bed very uncomfortable and was disappointed at all the water I wasted waiting for hot water in the shower. At least five minutes worth. Very good storage area for bikes. Excellent 7.50 breakfast buffet in the neighbouring sister hotel. Overall, I think it's a bit overpriced for the quality of bed I was given.

The hotel looks like it is closed. The room was ok, but the bed was very small. We looked out over what looked like a prison courtyard. The breakfast in the other hotel was good.

Eurostars Al-Andalus Palace was one of the best value-for-money hotels we stayed at during our trip to Spain. Located in the peaceful Heliopolis district of Seville, the hotel offers a comfortable stay away from the busiest tourist crowds while still being well connected to the city’s main attractions. Places like Plaza de España, María Luisa Park, and the historic centre are easily accessible by taxi, bus, or a pleasant walk for those who enjoy exploring. The hotel itself has an elegant, spacious feel from the moment you walk into the lobby. The rooms were modern, spotless, and surprisingly spacious, especially considering the price. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was well equipped, and everything felt clean and well maintained. It had all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay after long days of sightseeing. One of the biggest highlights was undoubtedly the breakfast. The buffet spread was extensive, offering a fantastic selection of fresh fruits, pastries, breads, cheeses, cold cuts, hot dishes, eggs, cereals, juices, coffee, and plenty of local Spanish options. Whether you prefer a light breakfast or a hearty one before heading out to explore Seville, there is something for everyone. The quality of the food was excellent, and everything was replenished regularly despite the busy breakfast hours. We also had dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurants, where we ordered pizza along with a bottle of wine. Both were surprisingly good and made for a lovely, relaxed evening after a full day of sightseeing. What made the experience even more memorable was the bartender, who was incredibly enthusiastic when we asked about the different types of Spanish wines. He happily explained the differences between the varieties, recommended options based on our preferences, and genuinely seemed passionate about what he was serving. Those kinds of interactions really elevate a stay and make guests feel welcome. The staff throughout the hotel were professional, friendly, and always willing to help. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the service consistently felt warm and efficient. The hotel also offers excellent facilities, including beautifully maintained gardens, an outdoor swimming pool during the warmer months, spacious lounges, conference facilities, and convenient on-site parking, making it suitable for both leisure and business travellers. Overall, Eurostars Al-Andalus Palace exceeded our expectations. Comfortable rooms, excellent food, outstanding breakfast, friendly staff, and great value for money made it one of the most enjoyable hotel stays of our Spain trip. If you’re visiting Seville and looking for a quality hotel that offers comfort without the premium price tag of the city centre, this is an excellent choice. I would happily stay here again on my next visit.
Chelsea Wilson★★★★☆
This hotel has everything you need and offered great facilities. Overall it is very dated, the entire place needs to be remodelled and the hairdryers in the bathroom look to be older than me. The pool is superb and the breakfast buffet was great. You can walk to Seville city centre from here it’s roughly 30min or the bus is pretty easy to use. There isn’t much around the hotel though. The staff were nice and the rooms were serviced each day. I just think it wasn’t the wow factor it perhaps looks to give.
Louise★★★★☆
A huge sprawling hotel which in some ways was overwhelming. Our room was comfortable and large however, the large cavernous areas echo the slightest sound and consequently the hotel is noisy. We could not get the safe to work in our room and the fridge was also not working. We reported both issues but neither was ever resolved and the staff did not seem interested or bothered. The lady on the tourist desk, however, was very helpful and gave us information on transport options in the city. The hotel is located a little way out of the city but regular buses run close by and we never felt this to be a problem.
Peter Gabik★★★★★
Nice hotel, and I really enjoyed my stay. It is a large and modern hotel with several cafeterias and plenty of space for meetings with clients. The reception staff were helpful, and everything felt well organized. The breakfast was excellent, and I also enjoyed the lunch. Overall, I had a great time here. The main downside is the location. It is quite far from the city center, so you will probably need an Uber or taxi most of the time. Another small issue was check-in. When several guests arrived at the same time, the waiting time became noticeable. In my case it was around 10 minutes, which was not dramatic, but it could be improved. One practical tip: my taxi from the airport to the hotel had a fixed price of 26€, while the trip back from the hotel to the airport cost 31€. Overall, a very good hotel that I would gladly stay at again.
Marina Voloshyna★★★★★
We stayed in Eurostars mid of April. We had not much expectations from the hotel due to its age and ratings on Google maps. And since we stayed in many Eurostars hotels in Spain, we choose it again. But I want to highlight a absolute difference from the rest of hotels - it's people and their attitude. Here working most kind and empático people I ever met. All the customer service and simple staff in restaurant are welcoming, smiley, ready to help, to guide, to care at night or daytime. Especially I would like to highlight the work of Isabel. (I hope I found the name of correct person) She worked on 10th of April 2026 first part of the day. She is amazing, she made her best to resolve my issue, was absolutely professional and polite and empático. Thank you, Isabel! I recommend the hotel because of superb location and it's people working there. We will be back at Eurostars.

Nice hotel and very big. Inside is nice but the rooms are definitely older and dated, see photos. But it’s a good price for the rooms being older. Right beside the golf course and about a 10 min drive to Salamanca center. The pool is nice and the spa you need to go with a shower cap but the towels to rent are 3 euro each, and 25 if you don’t return them so bring your own towel or towel from the room. Overall good experience. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Air con in the rooms in summer is great very cold
Sintje Mortier★★★☆☆
for a 4 star hotel I thought it was quiet disappointing that you have to pay for your spa entrance, when renting a room there. They can definitely improve a bit the coziness and ambient in the gym and spa. The installations are quiet old. There isn't a coffee or tea possibility in the room or hot water cooker. The rooms are roomy but the doors not very well isolated regarding the noises of the hallway. Our airco system from the room didn't work properly and was noisy as well, it was extremely hot in the room and that for the month of April. They don't have a nice outdoor green garden to sit or dine and that for an "out of the city hotel" is a missed opportunity in my point of view. You just can sit in front of the hotel watching the parking lot.

I visited this hotel a few years ago now, and forgot to review however I vividly remember this place for not a good reason. The bar was never open when we were there, and the staff were nothing special. The beds were that rock solid/hard i developed sciatica after 1 night here. If you like sleeping on a bed which isn’t like a slab of concrete then book elsewhere. I drove a group of English tourists to this hotel.

One of our favorite hotel here in Salamanca. It's peaceful, big room, has a Spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Its 10mins away from the center of Salamanca. The only thing we don't like is no Kettle, no free tea or coffee in the room.

The room was very small and smelled musty. The location is perfect for being in the old town, but I wouldn't recommend it if you only want to go to the beach. The minibar barely cooled anything; there were two small bottles of water inside, which were appreciated. The bed was very comfortable and large, but the television is mounted too close and high at the foot of the bed, which was a bit inconvenient. The bathroom had shower gel, shampoo, hand soap, a hairdryer, and micellar water with three makeup remover pads (a nice touch). The decor was very fitting and attractive, yet simple. They came into the room to clean it even though we had put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. We weren't inside at the time, but we didn't appreciate them ignoring the sign. The service from the person who greeted us at the restaurant was impeccable; they were very pleasant and helpful. It was more than enough for a relaxing weekend, but we wouldn't stay for a week-long vacation. We felt it was expensive for the quality.
moni lamug★★★★☆
The hotel was great, very cute, right in the old town, and everything was very well explained for getting there. No Netflix, but clean and with nice touches in the room. However, I have to say that the breakfast was a rip-off, so I advise guests to have breakfast somewhere else because it's too basic, the food is scarce, and it's extremely expensive for what it is. Starting with a coffee with milk = €3, imagine the toast (which was also small).
Esther Zamora★★★★★
"An exceptional experience in every way" Our stay was unbeatable. The location is fantastic, surrounded by a wide variety of restaurants and points of interest. The hotel stands out for its beautiful and meticulously detailed decor, but what truly makes the difference is its staff. We had a personal issue and needed to change our reservation three times; at all times, the staff were incredibly kind and handled the changes with complete ease. It's a pleasure to find places with this level of service. We recommend it 100%.

I stayed at this hostel on a street near the castle and I really liked it. The room was nice, comfortable, and very clean. The staff was very friendly and took great care of us at all times. It's a highly recommended place to stay in Peñíscola.

An incredible spot in the heart of Peñiscola's old town, perfect for enjoying the city and its streets. The owners' restaurant provided a wonderful welcome, and the cleaning service was outstanding. I would definitely return.

Nice grounds and surrounding if you ignore the noise of the airport. Rooms are much in need of refurbishing. Stained carpets, moldy curtains etc.

Nice and clean large rooms but the mattresses are old. No service after 22:30 Is located in a nice and quiet area

The good: hotel had a fairly inexpensive price in the middle of summer. My room was large and it was pretty pretty clean. The less good: the room is excessively hot with no air-conditioning or even a fan. Quite impossible to sleep in the summer night. It’s also on the landing and takeoff path of the airport nearby so every five minutes from a certain time you can hear them coming and going and it’s extremely loud. The decor is old of course, but as I’ve mentioned pretty clean.

Great hotel nearby the airport. Big rooms and bar downstairs with pitxos deals after 9pm! Cons: no aircon

This is a terrible hotel. Everything is very old in the room and next to the airport runway...so good luck trying to sleep! Don't recommend!

We held an event two weeks ago, for which we booked rooms and went as a large group for lunch and dinner over the weekend. We felt wonderful, very well looked after by all the hotel staff. The cheesecake, the flan... We will definitely be back.

This is an absolute gem of a hotel, the building itself is incredibly well maintained and the room we had in the "dungeon" was very cozy and comfortable. We slept so well. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the menu was varied, with options for half racions, so you can try more things. The food was delicious, and the care that was taken in preparing it, as well as the quality of the ingredients, really shone through. I wish I had space to try more dishes. The final flourish was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had anywhere in Spain, from the different bread options, to freshly baked pastries, different meats and cheeses, fresh fruits and yogurt, as well as hot dishes, jams and honey...I could go on and on. It was amazing. The staff are helpful and welcoming, the setting has a surreal aspect that is wonderful. It was a privilege to stay there and we hope to return.

Edited: Thanks to the incredibly kind and understanding reply from the hotel, I have changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. I hope they will truly make the changes so that pet owners can also enjoy the standards other guests do! Original review: Definitely NOT 4 star hotel standard! It has taken me a while to post this review because I really wanted to include everything in it. We stayed at the Buen Amor for one night and honestly, if we hadn’t arrived later than expected due to illness, we would have left as soon as we arrived, to search for somewhere acceptable. The one only redeeming feature was the dinner, which was excellent and the breakfast had good variety too, although a lot of items were covered in flies. Here is the list of issues we faced as soon as we arrived: - Room damp/mould smell. - Black mould and infiltration obviously visible in many places. - Dust/pollen mountains in entrance of the room. - Every single towel humid/damp to touch. - Shower full of hair from previous guest. - Barely any plugs other than for the lights already plugged in. - Every footstep above the room can be heard like the ceiling is made out of plaster - unexpected when the walls seem so thick. - When we asked if we could change rooms due to the unbearable smell, we were told we would be charged if we move to a “suite” which smelled and looked exactly the same. Saw three other dungeon rooms - all with the same issue. - These rooms are a health hazard and should not be used, at least not in their current state! - Not truly dog friendly. Dogs not allowed in restaurant, only the “cafe” but the cafe is outside, so that’s misleading. It’s ok for some but not for others who become mosquito feasts eating outside in the evening. - Only these “dungeon” rooms are “dog friendly”, or, apparently two rooms on the ground floor, which the employee claimed were booked. I’m not sure which rooms those are, as we were told when booking, that dogs are only allowed in these dungeon rooms. - Dog bed and items “provided” were old, knackered and looked dirty. I would never let my dog sleep on it or touch any of it. Having a dog does not equal having no cleanliness standard, in fact we are pretty OCD with cleanliness. - White long dog hairs from previous guests all over the floor - ours is black with short fur, so it was obvious they did not come from our dog. - I had to ask for someone to help with our bags (I saw a trolley outside so thought it was something they offered). The woman at reception looked at me with big eyes and said with the least enthusiasm “if you need help, well I can help you”. Then the lovely British girl who was helping out for the summer, immediately and assertively said she will help. Had a great chat with her too! I would like to thank her for showing such kindness. - Constant low humming noise all night, very irritating in the silence. Stays on for 10mins or so, then goes off again and then back on. Not sure if it’s some sort of heat pump or smth located near the room, but it’s not pleasant at all. - Although aircon helped with the smell, we couldn’t keep it on at night because it was so loud due to being extremely old. I do not want to know when it was last checked or cleaned! - The restaurant was good, although service not the friendliest or warmest with us. Different entirely towards the Spanish speakers dining there that evening. - There’s a road next to the window of the room where a truck passes at 7am??! Noisy when you have your window open to get some form of fresh air. - Your reply to other reviewers stating there’s mould in the rooms, is to “assure them there isn’t any”. Well I have photographed it all. This is mould - as someone with asthmatic family members, I know what mould looks and smells like. The rooms are a health hazard and should be closed down. See all my photos.

We stayed in the Castillo and we totally loved the experience. The Castillo is stunning and well maintenance. All the areas and rooms are very impressive, with art, and historic things to enjoy. The outside gardens and landscape are beautiful. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well decorated. We had dinner and breakfast, the food was amazing. The staff was very friendly and they looked after all the details. They gave as a little tour around the castle. The hotel is also very child friendly. My son had also a welcome present that he enjoyed very much!. We will definitely come back

A stunning castle that beautifully blends historic charm with a surprising number of modern in-room amenities. The restaurant is excellent and well worth dining at. The only drawback is that the property is not handicap accessible. The property is about twenty minutes outside of Salamanca.

Upon entering, we had a little demand for a reservation because my sister and I made a reservation through Booking, however, I had it, cash was not removed from the card, but of course the ladies working at the reception were so kind to our problem and automatically gave us a link through which we can make the transaction immediately and they were so calm and attentive so it went perfectly, stress free. After that we had a weather situation that was unexpected, it started to rain, so the guys from the reception again gave us an umbrella, which is a very big plus. They were there for every question I had to answer so kindly and with a feeling of complete ease. For the food we bought, we needed a utensil (fork), we got it right away. The rooms were impeccably clean and communication with the maids was at an excellent level (via cards attached to the door). They met everything. The sofas at the reception desk are as comfortable as the beds, big kudos to the man who designed the interior. We almost fell asleep how comfortable it was. 😂 The service stands on the sidelines and takes great care to replenish everything that is missing, one person is engaged for that and non-stop brings either candies or lemonade or water depending on what is missing. Breakfast was rich every morning, nothing was missing, which usually happens when it is based on a Swedish menu, replenishment is constant. The location is great because you are close to everything. You are not exactly in the center, but you get there quickly. You certainly have other activities at "your fingertips".

We had an amazing stay at NH Valencia Las Artes. A very special thank you to the gentleman who checked us in. Unfortunately, I can’t remember his name, but he made us feel welcome right away. He was incredibly kind, professional, and helpful, and his friendly attitude made a wonderful first impression. We would also like to thank Dario at breakfast for his outstanding service. He was always smiling, attentive, and made every morning even more enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of fresh and delicious food. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and cleaned to a very high standard every day. Throughout our stay, every member of the staff was friendly, polite, and always willing to help with anything we needed. Thank you to the entire team for making our trip so memorable. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for exceptional service and a fantastic place to stay we would definitely choose this hotel again when visiting Valencia. The front desk staff have zero customer service especially considering this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. We had an issue with our room and didn’t once get an apology or a slice of understanding (we were staying there 7 nights and wish we could have left after our first night because they were bordering rude) one employee in particular, Henry. When I asked if we could at least have an apology he replied “what for?” whilst ripping up a piece of paper in a passive aggressive way. My husband was dumbfounded. I don’t understand why anyone would work on a reception desk if they don’t like customers. Vincent from breakfast was a super star (I wish I could give him a 5 star review separate) and the breakfast overall ran like clockwork and there was plenty of choice. The standard rooms are dull and dusty but the superior rooms are much better. The location is ok, it’s on a busy road but we felt slightly in the middle of nowhere there. This hotel is not 4 star quality and we will not return.

Pleasant hotel with great penthouse suites (on 2 floors). Great location near the Arts and Science City. Great vegan Cafe across the road. Free glass of wine if you do not need your room serviced! (Good to be green! Haha).

My recent stay at NH Valencia Las Artes was deeply disappointing and entirely unacceptable for a hotel that officially markets itself as a 4‑star property. In reality, the standard delivered is closer to 2 stars, and the discrepancy is nothing short of a disgrace. The hotel is visibly neglected, outdated, and poorly maintained. The attached photos speak for themselves: the rooms are in a deplorable condition, cluttered, worn, and presented more like a storeroom than a space intended for paying guests. As a frequent business traveller, I have experienced a wide range of hotel standards across Europe, yet this was one of the most jarring and substandard rooms I have encountered. The furnishings are tired, the presentation careless, and the overall condition suggests a complete lack of investment, oversight, and pride in the product. Even the poorly made beds reinforced the impression of a hotel that has simply stopped caring. The only redeeming element of the stay was the professionalism and kindness of the reception team, both late at night and during the day. Their courtesy, however, cannot compensate for the unacceptable state of the rooms and the hotel as a whole. Regrettably, I must rate NH Valencia Las Artes one star, and I cannot recommend it under any circumstances.

Our stay at Cosmoveros Bubble Experience was perfect. The place is peaceful, quiet, and ideal for relaxing, with beautiful night skies full of stars that made the experience even more magical. Inma was an amazing host who made sure everything we needed was taken care of and made us feel very welcome. The homemade fresh breakfast every morning was absolutely delicious. A truly special experience that we would highly recommend.

the place is nice and beautiful. we really enjoyed the night and watching the stars. I was expecting the place to be less noisier, there were annoying voices all the time and I could not disconnect 100% , thats why giving 4 stars.

That was an amazing different experience! Sleeping in a bubble with the sky full of stars, but with all the confort of a great room and with jacuzzi!. An experience to try at least one in your life. Marco and his family were really kind and taking care of every detail, and every request that we had. We could also try the amazing "lechal" from the unknown family restaurant. So tasty! Also great rural area to ride with bycicle about the medieval villages. To repeat

Sleep with the stars: Must do once in a lifetime. Your area includes a high quality and well equipped bubble, an outdoor private jacuzzi and sun beds. Visit the village on arrival and have a drink at the local bar. Would recommend organising cheese & wine in the room rather than a heavy dinner to enjoy the stars from the jacuzzi and then again from your bed. Once you’ve enjoyed the sunrise you might want to cover the bubble as it will become hot!

Tips for Booking a Hotel Near the Amphitheatre

Securing the perfect room in a historic district requires a bit more strategy than booking a standard city hotel. The unique layout and high demand of these areas mean that a little insider knowledge can go a long way in ensuring your stay is as smooth as it is memorable. Here are some essential considerations to keep in mind before you confirm your reservation.

Book well in advance for peak seasons. Spring and early autumn are the most popular times to visit due to the mild weather and cultural festivals. Hotels closest to the amphitheatre have limited inventory, and the rooms with direct views or private balconies are usually the first to sell out.

Clarify your parking situation immediately. Many streets in the old town are pedestrian-only or have strict access restrictions for non-residents. Before booking, contact the hotel directly to ask if they have a partnership with a nearby parking garage or offer valet service; do not assume you can park on the street.

Pack light and choose practical luggage. Navigating ancient cobblestone streets with heavy, wheeled suitcases can be difficult and noisy. A backpack or a smaller, easily carried bag will make your arrival and departure much more pleasant, especially if your hotel is located deep within a pedestrian zone.

Request a quiet interior room if you are a light sleeper. While a street-facing room offers great atmosphere, the sounds of late-night diners, street cleaners, and early morning delivery trucks can be disruptive. Hotels often have interior courtyard rooms that offer the same historic charm with significantly better sound insulation.

Leverage the hotel’s local expertise. Front desk staff in these boutique properties are usually locals who know the area intimately. Ask them for restaurant recommendations, the best times to visit the amphitheatre to avoid crowds, and how to secure skip-the-line tickets to maximize your time exploring.

Choosing to stay near the Roman Amphitheatre places you directly within the narrative of the city. You are not just visiting a monument; you are living beside it, waking up to its silhouette and falling asleep to the quiet hum of the ancient streets. This proximity allows you to experience the site in different lights—perhaps at dawn when the stones glow pink or late at night when they are dramatically illuminated against the dark sky.

By selecting a hotel that prioritizes guest comfort while respecting the historical integrity of its surroundings, you ensure that your trip is both relaxing and enriching. The right accommodation serves as a bridge between the modern amenities you need and the ancient world you have come to explore. With a little planning and the right guidance, your stay will be a highlight of your travels, leaving you with memories as enduring as the amphitheatre itself.
