Santa Cruz de Tenerife is often seen as a gateway to the island’s famous southern resorts, but the capital itself holds a distinct charm that rewards travelers who choose to linger. It is a city where Atlantic breezes sweep through colonial plazas, and where modern architecture, like the iconic Auditorio de Tenerife, contrasts beautifully with historic cobblestone lanes. Staying here places you at the heart of authentic Canarian life, far from the tourist crowds.
Unlike the purpose-built holiday zones in the south, the capital offers a more urban and cultural experience. You can spend your mornings exploring museums and markets, your afternoons shopping along elegant pedestrian streets, and your evenings dining on fresh seafood overlooking the busy port. The city’s compact size makes it highly walkable, yet it also serves as an excellent base for exploring the lush Anaga Mountains to the north.
Choosing the right hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife depends largely on your travel style. Whether you are a business traveler needing proximity to the conference center, a couple seeking a romantic weekend escape, or a solo adventurer wanting easy access to public transport, the city has a diverse range of accommodations. From grand historic properties to sleek design hotels, the options are surprisingly varied.
Location is a key factor when selecting your base. The areas around Plaza de España and Calle del Castillo put you in the middle of the shopping and dining action, while the neighborhood near Parque García Sanabria offers a more relaxed, leafy atmosphere. If you are arriving by cruise ship or using the tram, staying near the waterfront or the main transport hubs can save you valuable time.
The standard of hospitality in Tenerife’s capital is exceptionally high. Many hotels here are housed in beautifully restored buildings that blend original architectural features with contemporary comforts. You will find rooftop pools with harbor views, gourmet restaurants showcasing Canarian produce, and staff who are genuinely proud to share their local knowledge with visitors.
In this guide, we have curated a selection of the best places to stay based on location, amenities, guest experience, and value. The following list represents a mix of luxury landmarks, boutique hideaways, and reliable urban hotels. Each property has been chosen for its ability to provide a comfortable and memorable stay in this underrated capital.
Below, you will find the top hotels that consistently earn high marks from travelers and locals alike. These properties offer the best combination of comfort, service, and access to everything Santa Cruz de Tenerife has to offer.

Beautiful hotel, feels luxurious, spacious rooms and bathrooms!
One downside is the reception is very inattentive to the calls. We trying calling the reception a bunch of times through both the in-room telephone and phone number via cellphone and all the calls were unanswered.

Great rooms, everything’s super clean and really quiet.
The pool area was really nice as well.
Plus there’s free parking.
Would definitely recommend

I stayed at this hotel for the first time and really enjoyed it. The space is very spacious, and the building itself looks like it might have been a school or something similar in the past. The reception provided very helpful and detailed information.
Location of the hotel is walkable to any place you need to.
There is a bar with a gorgeous view ot a town from top.
My room was for two people and had plenty of space. The view from the window was lovely — overlooking the city and some beautiful cactuses.
We also tried the breakfast service and didn’t regret it at all — the selection was excellent and varied: cold cuts, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, delicious bread, and scrambled eggs (not overcooked which a big plus). There’s even a fresh juice machine where you can make your own juice right away.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come back and choose this hotel again

Wonderful hotel.
Friendly, helpful, and polite staff in all areas.
Fantastic, freshly prepared, and well presented food in the restaurant and for breakfast.
Inexpensive restaurant prices, given the quality of the food.
Large bedrooms. Very comfortable beds. Great walk in shower.
Would I stay there again? Of course, there was nothing not to like.
Well done.

Very nice hotel, well mantained and clean. There are many facilities in the hotel like swimming pool and a gym. The food of the restaurant is quite nice and the breakfast has a big choice. The staff is friendly and always ready to help you. The position of the hotel is very convenient and there is also a parking space where you can leave your car.

We had a wonderful time at hotel Taro, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff at the entry and housekeeping we´re so lovely. The rooms are very clean, the shower, the bed, everything was very neat. Our only small small complaint is the food in the restaurant, would´ve been nice if there was more variety. But overall we would recommend to anyone who likes to stay central in Tenerife North... don´t wait, RUNNN you wil not regret it!!

We had an amazing experience. Started with easy self check in. The room was very clean and spacious, the bed was super comfortable and the lighting in the room was very intimate, which made atmosphere even better. Staff were very helpful, we were be able to leave our luggage after check out time. Highly recommended and will definitely be back 🙂

An amazing, neatly clean and comfortable newly built hotel with a great atmosphere and located right inside the city centre (Calle Castillo). Staff were amazing and very helpful. Hotel is very Child friendly. A must for those who want to explore the city. Hotel is conveniently located near amenities, parks and transport facilities.

It’s a beautiful hotel with great service in all areas and aspects! The food is delicious here, the gardens and common areas are well looked after.
The location is great if you are looking for an area outside of the town center but close enough to walk everywhere. Carlos was very kind and helpful as well as every staff member around the hotel!
My only suggestion is to make sure the rooms are complete clean before new guests arrive and better communication in between staff about requests and changes in service. Other than that, it has been excellent.
We leave with a great experience and with the hope to visit back again one day. Thank you everyone for an amazing time!

We had a wonderful stay. Everything was perfect from start to finish: the hotel, the cleanliness, the comfort, and the overall atmosphere.
The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and as a lovely surprise, the team offered us champagne and sweet treats to celebrate our 10th anniversary, which made our stay even more special.
Thank you again for this memorable experience

"A Truly Perfect Stay at Iberostar Grand Mencey!"
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Iberostar Grand Mencey. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—perfectly situated just a short walk from the city center, making it incredibly convenient to explore the local area.
The cleanliness of the entire property was impeccable, and we were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food, which was delicious and offered a fantastic variety.
What truly made our stay memorable was the hospitality. We want to thank the entire staff for their professionalism and warmth. A very special thank you goes to Rosa at the reception; her kindness, efficiency, and welcoming attitude made us feel at home from the very first moment.
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tenerife and look forward to returning!

Great hotel! Beautiful view. Rooms are spacious and the food is delicious. The pool is clean and Carlos (Cuban) is a great poolside host! He is so friendly and hardworking and really wants you to enjoy your time by the pool with impeccable service!
Thank you!
Looking forward to visiting again!
Also if the manager reads this Carlos (Cuban) deserves a bottle of wine or a bonus!

It is always a pleasure to stay at this hotel. It is beautiful, clean, well maintained, and above all, peaceful. It is also wonderful to see the same staff members year after year, which clearly says a lot about what a great place it is to work.
I would especially like to mention Keniel, the lifeguard at the pool. He keeps a watchful eye on everything, has a calm and reassuring presence, provides excellent customer service, and is always willing to help with whatever is needed. He truly performs his job exceptionally well.
The waiters at the poolbar also provide excellent service.

I can only give this hotel a Full 5 stars. Everything was ideal for my stay in Tenerife.
Hotel was well situated , and the staff were friendly and helpful, the room had everything you would need. Juan went out of his way to help me, and for this, I am extremely grateful, especially for a female traveling alone.

Very poor hotel. Rooms basic and no tea or coffee making facilities. When we enquired about this at reception they said they are unable to provide any tea or coffee making facilities unless we upgraded to a superior room. Even basic hotels and inns have tea and coffee making facilities. Walked to Starbucks nearby. The leisure facilities are also non existent, the “gym” is a cupboard with 2 machines. The exit from the rooftop bar was directly below our room with horrendous noise of drunk people shouting and screaming until 4am on Sunday morning. Avoid!

Stayed recently for 1 night as we were going on a cruise day after. Good central location. Comfortable room. Receptionist recommended an amazing local restaurant for us ( la concepcion). There was a buffet breakfast which had great selection. Our bags were stored at hotel until our taxi picked us up. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in the hotel twice in the last 10 day due to cruising from Tenerife. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms were a good size with a comfortable bed. For me Only thing letting it down was an area where you could relax and have a drink/coffee. Would stay there again.
Sydney Adams★★★☆☆
Air conditioner in my room. I am editing the review that I previously posted because I realized all of it did not go through. I'm 64 years old and I'm a female so I'm hot a lot The air conditioner in the room does not tell you the temperature so when we arrived I turned it on and it was like you couldn't hardly tell it was running and I had it on the highest fan mode that I could and I turned it down as cold as I could get it and of course I checked downstairs to make sure I was doing it properly and I was. Every night I was there I would lay in the bed and sweat because it was so hot. And with no airflow it just made it worse. For me I found the bedding to be inadequate The fabric of the sheets weren't very nice and there was no mattress topper so you're just laying on a, to me, and uncomfortable mattress. The hotel is hard to get a taxi to drop you off because of the area that it's located in that of course is not the hotels fault but for some people that might be older and need to be dropped off a little closer I wanted people to be aware of that. The hotel to me is just dated The furniture and the waiting area downstairs I thought was uncomfortable there's no outdoor sitting area for you to go out and set just to be outside at the hotel whereas when we stayed at the innside hotel which is very close, they had a pull upstairs there was a nice bar and a place to sit out which we didn't realize that this hotel. Also you have to have an adapter because there's not a place just to plug in your cell phone cord and get a charge in your room. I found our room not to be really clean there was hair left in the bathtub and around the edges of the door in the bathroom. So basically we ended up leaving The window open but unfortunately we were woke up by noise in the street but it was so much cooler outside than it was in it was a choice we had to make. The staff at the hotel were absolutely lovely! You could not have asked for people to be kinder. But I want to be sure that I leave a review of how I found it to be so maybe others can know and Make a more informed decision. There were a lot of restaurants to be able to walk to that were very close a grocery store that had wonderful sandwiches in it there were plenty of restaurants that had outdoor seating and you could sit outside which was very nice One such restaurant is right down from the hotel they serve the best passion fruit mojitos I've ever had in my life! And a waitress named Yane That's fabulous! If I remember correctly as you walked out of the door of the hotel you turn to the left and I'm pretty sure they were the second restaurant on the left. Once again let me stress, the hotel staff could not have been kind of but the air conditioning unfortunately was just Not good for me. Happy travels

The hotel was great in the inside with the rooftop pool,
Staff was friendly,
But if you have a car DON’T GO THERE,
The parking causes lots of problems,
Is really small and impossible to get in or out. We had to call a porter, which they didn’t have it was a member of the staff, to help us while also other people in the parking were having similar issues. What a pity because the price of the stay is above average and the hotel itself is beautiful.
Justin Withers★★★★★
Great hotel with an extremely helpful team. The hotel roof pool and bar are a must, the berry Mojitos help you down a relaxing afternoon looking over Santa Cruz. The buffet breakfast was excellent with huge options.
Tobias Nyholm★★☆☆☆
The hotel looks good in the common places, lobby, rooftop terrace etc. But there were lots of hidden errors. One of the elevators stopped working. The staff used the only working elevator so it kept being occupied. The rooftop jaccuzi was closed some of the days during our stay. The rooms looked neat but had flaws as well. The tv wifi didn't work, we called the reception for help, they sent up a technician that restarted the router. That made the internet come back for 30 minutes and then would eventually disconnect again. We repeated this turn of events three times, then we eventually stopped contacting the reception about it since we didn't feel that we actually got the help we asked for. The reception kept calling us several times and said "the internet works now" when it actually didn't. We weren't offered any compensation for this...
The shower could turn super hot from out of nowhere. The ac didn't work properly if the lamp in the bathroom was switched on.
The location was good, close to a beautiful park, and walking distance to the centrum and harbour areas. The cleaning staff did a good job and were friendly.
Галина Студеникина★★★★★
The hotel offers a good price-to-quality ratio. The room was advertised as having a balcony, but it was more of a small balcony where you could only stand and look at the windows of the neighboring building. Daily cleaning is excellent. Breakfast is fantastic. The hotel does not provide bathrobes or slippers. There is a great service — a welcome treat for guests in the lobby in front of the reception, featuring a large carafe of water, fruits, and pastries. Unfortunately, the carafe was always empty during my week-long stay, no matter how many times I approached it. It's a nice gesture, but unfortunately, it's not well executed.

QUICK SUMMARY:
❌ Technical Failures
Unreliable elevators and broken ventilation.
🛁 Wellness Fail
The jacuzzi was out of order or malfunctioning throughout the stay.
📺 TV Issues
TV didn't work. 4 different technicians failed to fix it despite 2 days of trying.
🚿 Shower Chaos
Leaking shower with water randomly switching between freezing cold and scalding hot.
🧹 Cleanliness
The room was not fully cleaned upon our arrival.
🤰 Poor Service
No compensation offered. As a pregnant guest needing rest, I was only offered a downgrade to a "maybe" working room.
🗣️ Language Barrier
Most staff, including reception, spoke very little English.
✅ The Only Plus
There is a beautiful park right outside.
THE FULL REVIEW:
At first glance, this hotel appears very elegant, but looks are deceiving. The elevators were malfunctioning, which is a major issue if you have heavy luggage or mobility needs. Our room was not properly cleaned when we arrived, the ventilation was poor throughout the stay and the hotel was very noisy; we could hear everything from the hallway.. To top it off, the jacuzzi didn't work consistently either, which was a huge disappointment.
As I am currently pregnant, I needed to rest in the room quite a bit, but the TV was broken. Over the course of two days, four different technicians came by. They all performed the same steps and claimed it was fixed when it clearly wasn't (both my husband and I work in IT, so we could see the lack of progress). When we asked for a room swap to a functional room, we were only offered a downgrade to an inferior room where the TV "might" work. No compensation was offered for the inconvenience.
The bathroom was another low point: the shower leaked and the water temperature fluctuated dangerously between ice-cold and scalding hot. There wasn't even anywhere to hang up the small towels provided. Furthermore, communication was difficult as very few staff members spoke English. The only saving grace was the lovely park outside, but it doesn't make up for the lack of basic hotel standards.

We had a very disappointing experience at this hotel, mainly due to the extremely poor attitude of some front desk staff.
On our first night, the room had a very loud electrical buzzing noise that made it difficult to rest. Even worse, there were many small ants in the room. At first, I thought they were only in the bathroom, but later I found a large number of them even in the bed, which was completely unacceptable.
The next day, we reported these issues to the front desk. However, there was no apology at all. When we asked to change rooms, the new room still had the same electrical noise problem. Shockingly, the staff told us to simply turn off the power switch and turn it back on when needed, which is not a reasonable solution for guests.
We then requested a clean and properly functioning room. The front desk did not even check availability and directly told us that no rooms were available. However, we could clearly see online that at least five similar rooms were still available for booking.
Overall, this experience was very frustrating. The lack of basic cleanliness, unresolved technical issues, and especially the unprofessional and dismissive attitude of the front desk made our stay unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel.
Shaggy★★☆☆☆
Good location, but very poor experience overall.
The location is very good, with easy access to bus stations and close to the biggest shopping mall, Meridiano. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing.
We booked through the official website, but our rooms were cancelled just a few days before our flight to Tenerife. We spent half a day trying to call the reception, but our calls were rejected. We even received an email saying the booking was successfully cancelled and that a refund was not possible. We almost lost £1000 just like that.
The rooms were extremely cold. There was no heating available, even though it was mentioned in the booking. Because of this, I got sick and had to take medicine. We went to the reception to ask about the heating as it was mentioned in the website but they said they don’t have and the receptionist suggested she will have an extra blanket delivered to our room number but until the last day of our stay, nothing was provided.
The cleaning service was very poor. There was no toilet paper (we had to buy it ourselves), and after cleaning, the blankets and pillows looked dirty and neglected. The cups are also not cleaned and they just forgot to put sometimes towels sometimes garbage paper
The TV is very old and basically unusable.
The gym is constantly wet because it is located right next to the jacuzzi, making it unsafe and unpleasant to use. In the end, we had to pay for Vivagym in for the period subscription because the hotel gym and jacuzzi were not usable.
Overall, despite the good location, I would not recommend this hotel due to poor service, lack of communication, and unacceptable room conditions.

I stayed at the INNSiDE by Meliá Santa Cruz during a business trip and I highly recommend it! The room was modern yet very cozy, and I must emphasize that it was hygienically clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable perfect for resting, assuming you prefer relaxing over exploring. The buffet breakfast offered a completely sufficient selection to start the day. While the rooftop pool is quite small, the amazing view completely compensates for its size. The staff was very friendly, professional, and fully committed to resolving any issues if they occurred. The only minor downside for me was the hotel restaurant; the dishes were quite modest, acting more like snacks to accompany wine, and the interior design strongly reminded me of Scandinavian hotels I have visited in the past. Despite this small detail, my overall stay was excellent, and I can confidently rate this hotel 5 stars!
David H★★★★★
Had a very pleasant 4-night stay. The rooms are nice and staff was excellent and very friendly throughout.
Especially Cristian and Alessio delivered an impressive service the other night on the rooftop bar, they were fantastic! Melia can be proud to have them working for them.
Only minor criticism: some furniture on the balconies would have been nice, they are a little empty without it and can’t really be used despite paying extra for them.
Arie Zur★★★★★
In a nut shell: Excellent Stay in the Heart of Santa Cruz.
The hotel is right at the edge of the main pedestrian streets of Santa Cruz. It’s a lovely area full of restaurants, cafés, and plenty of shopping (according to my wife, very much worth it).
There’s also a beautiful square directly across from the hotel entrance (Plaza del Príncipe de Asturias), full of trees, greenery, and shade.
Both the beach and the port are within walking distance.
The hotel itself looks new and modern.
Our room was spacious, full of natural light, and had a nice view of the ocean. The bed was large and extremely comfortable.
The bathroom was also spacious, and shower is a treat. Towels and toiletries were all very high quality.
The room had air-conditioning, a safe, very strong and stable WIFI, and a minibar with complimentary two juices and two bottles of water which are refilled daily.
Breakfast was varied and well prepared, with many local options. There were plenty of places to sit, several coffee machines around the room, and you can squeeze fresh oranges on the spot.
Service throughout the hotel was excellent : at the reception, in the dining room, and from the cleaning staff.
The only downside is that the hotel doesn’t have its own parking. You can look for free street parking nearby, but it’s difficult, and many areas are restricted. The hotel has an arrangement with a nearby parking garage: €18 per day with unlimited in and out access, and it’s about a 4 minute walk from the hotel.
Considering the location, the room quality, and the breakfast, even with the extra parking cost, the price is very reasonable.

Rooms are very nice and modern. Great comfortable bed and nice pillows. Rooftop bar looks nice.
Reception staff were amazing. When we needed extra towels and our safe wasn’t working the reception staff came up to help.

Excellent stay!
+ Location is really nice, close to everything, very walkable neighborhood.

+ The rooms are quite new and modern.
Feedback:
* Would be good to have a dedicated laptop desk in the room.
* The shower temperatures are pretty inconsistent, would be great to fix it.

We decided to stay one night at the hotel prior to attending a music festival and we had a really good time here! The air conditioning worked perfectly (great for summer time and sleeping quality), very clean room, spacious and friendly staff. The only thing to consider is that our room had an external balcony but it could barely fit one person, so don’t get misled to think it’s a big balcony. Besides this, we took the breakfast and it was a decent buffet style with several options to pick from. Overall, we do recommend and would stay here again, but skip the extra fee for the balcony 🙂

The situation of the hotel is perfect. Right in the middle of the city and close to the cruise port if you are going on a cruise. Near lots of restaurants and the market
The staff are amazing. Very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was good
Now for the minus points-the rooms are very outdated. They need refurbishing. The noise from the street is disturbing.
However, for the price, I cannot complain and I would certainly return

It's not a bad hotel. It's that the rooms are cramped and unless you're traveling to the capital for business I wouldn't really recommend it. The location, on the other hand, is perfect. You'll be able to find numerous restaurant ans cafés withing minutes walk and the park avenue and nearby parks make up for what the hotel lacks in interior design.

We stayed at the Hotel Adonis Plaza the night before our cruise, the city was alive with Carnival and the front staff were very good with advise on getting around. They told us to get to the cruise ship the drive was quite a long one because of the blocked streets and heavy traffic, it was reassuring. This Hotel is right on a busy plaza so there was lots of activity on the streets, it was easy to find our way back when we were out walking. They made sure we were able to get to the cruise easily and I would love to stay here longer next time.

Average size room with all the usual amenities. Very good value for money. Excellent location surrounded by shops and restaurants. Very helpful staff for restaurant suggestions - Daniel recommended a nearby grill restaurant which was very good ( unless you are a vegetarian of course). The hotel stored our excess luggage while we went walking on La Gomera and El Hierro.
About a ten minute walk from the bus station if arriving by airport bus or a cheap 5 or 6 euro taxi fare by meter. Central location so not really suitable if you have a hire car due limited parking. So far only a one night transit stop but luckily have two more days booked at the end of our trip.

I think it’s okay for a night. Perfect location, friendly receptionist and it’s 24 hours! The room is super basic and worn down but if you’re just gonna stay here for an early flight, it’s fine. Shower is warm. Bathroom is a bit dirty with shavings of previous guests. Bed is clean. Tv had the zoom setting on and was not able to adjust it using the aftermarket remote. You can hear people screaming downstairs at night and people leaving early morning - bring earplugs. For the price and super short stay it’s okay.

The rooms are very good for the price. Cleaned daily and convenient. Staff are great too. My one issue was an extremely loud guest next door he kept watching TV until 3-4 AM. The rooms do not have great sound insolation. I had to make complaints and reception responded appropriately. I suggest the hotel implement a policy of low volume after 12.

I have never stayed in a hotel like this before.
The room has a very strange layout, with a long corridor leading to the bedroom, making it feel dark and unwelcoming. The worst part, however, is the unbearable smell of dampness. The window faces a tiny interior courtyard, which seems to trap humidity, leaving the room with a constant musty odor.
Although there is air conditioning, I was told that it doesn’t work, not just in my room, but throughout the entire hotel. In the middle of summer, that’s simply unacceptable.
The room is basic and has what I needed : a bed, private bathroom and that’s it. Which is enough.
The only positive aspect is the location. Other than that, I see no reason to stay here.
As for the service, the receptionist was kind and clearly not responsible for the hotel’s condition. However, when I explained the issues, his response was, “It’s a one-star hotel, what did you expect?” That was disappointing. A one-star rating (which is written 2 stars by the way) should never be used as an excuse for poor maintenance, lack of basic comfort, or dismissing a guest’s concerns.
I literally left the same night and didn’t sleep in it.
luca garofani★☆☆☆☆
Avoid this terrible place at all costs, try to find something else. Only positive thing is the central position; for the rest, pray and hope that there is no emergency because this place does not respect elementary rules about safety or fire emergency exits or else; there are no escape routes indicated in the rooms and in the halls, the only window goes on an internal space that leads nowhere so if there's a fire and you cannot escape through the door...bye bye Kansas! Plus, they put new airconditioners who actually don't work so the rooms feel always humid and claustrophobic, the wires actually pass close to the shower and get wet when you open the water; finally, the doors do not close properly ( the locks are clearly broken) so you don't feel that sense of protection that you should feel when you lock your hotel room. I know this is not Hilton but not even Tom's cabin! And what do they do when you complain? A laugh in the face . Ps I am not going to cancel this review after your inflammatory email where you blame me for not complaining before leaving the hotel....so you admit that there are problems no? I got the pictures so no email of yours can do anything good. Just admit you manage this hotel in a horrible way and do not blame me for complaining. Sincerly yours.

I have stayed in this hotel many times. You get what you have paid for. Its clean and central to the city, and to the the tram that will take you to other parts of the island.🏝️

Very basic room but reasonable for the price. Room and bathroom was fairly clean although I found some hair on my bed. Location is fantastic. Close to restaurants, bus stop and tram stop.
Overall it's ideal for a short budget stay.

Overall very bad quality. A/C is not working. If you open only window facing to interior courtyard be prepare that there is very strong smell. So basically you cannot ventilate your room. No fresh air coming.
I would also say there is nothing like sound isolation. You can hear everyone walking and talking on the corridor. Also you hear people living in near-by rooms talking or taking shower. No way you can sleep. Also equipment of hotel is bad, like in 3rd world countries.
If you want to leave earlier they do not want to give you money back or change rooms. Definitely not worth 38€/night.
Only location is good.

Absolutely stunning hotel in my favourite part of the island. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is reasonably small and quiet which is the exact reason we booked it. The bar is lovely and the rooms are the best I’ve stayed in for a long time. We opted for a junior suite and I cannot recommend it enough. The price, the location, and the staff deserve a 10/10. We will absolutely be returning on our next visit to Tenerife. My only regret is not asking for names so I can personally commend the wonderful staff members.

One of the best stays ever, hotel staff were so lovely, beds were comfy and made sure we were well cared for. Big cheers to my guy at the reception desk who was cheering us on before and after our hyrox!!

Large and comfortable room with a huge comfy bed and beautiful bathroom. Great breakfast with lots of choice. Friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is scrupulously clean throughout. It’s set in a very elegant part of town, with classic villas and pretty streets and a lovely park nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is located in an elegant area of the city, very close to the center and well served by public transportation. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. A special mention goes to all the staff: always present, helpful, and kind.

Casa Doña Carmela was cozy, quiet and clean. Owner Amos was very attentive and it’s easy to communicate with him. When you arrive, there is bottled water waiting in your room for you, so you don’t have to run out and buy water. Bottles can be refilled in the dining room. There are plenty of places to put your belongings, something uncommon. And the included breakfasts are delicious. You have a choice of 6 or 7 breakfasts. Also, the terraces are beautiful And it’s a short walk to downtown Tenerife

Fantastic place and a super lovely host! Nice and quiet location within a short walking distance from the city centre. We stayed for almost two weeks and absolutely loved it! Beautiful place with a tranquil roof top terrace for star gazing. Amos is a very graceful host with great attention for detail. And the delicious breakfast by itself just might be worth the stay alone. Would love to stay here again!

We were a group who came for a vacation, and to experience the carneval. This hotel was perfect, as it is within walking distance of the city center, quiet at night, clean and tidy, and with a really nice roof terrace where we could relax in the sun in the morning.
The host is charming, helpful and diligent. The breakfasts were great and varied.
We rented a car, and finding a parking spot was not an issue.
Would love to come back at a later occasion.

We really enjoyed it here. Close to downtown, easy access to public transport. Amos was a fantastic host, eager to please with a smile. Breakfast was always top notch. Terrace is very nice, nice view of the ocean from there. Will stay again next year.

I really loved my stay here! It's a quiet, relaxing and lovely hidden gem closeby the city centre of Santa Cruz. The owner is very friendly and passionate about sustainability. Every morning, the delicious breakfast is fresh and home-made. I can definitely recommend this place and I will definitely come back!

They didn’t send us instructions for check in, didn’t pick up the phone, so we had to wait outside and wonder if we can check in at all. Cleaner lady showed up and helped us a lot, that was pure luck
The room itself was alright, good bed, table lamp with warm light

I didn't sleep well the first night due to a very soft mattress. Luckily the staff were very understanding and helpful and found another mattress for me. So one star for the too soft mattress and five stars for the staff. I hope the owner of Pension Casablanca is taking this problem seriously. A very soft mattress is uncomfortable but could also cause back and neck pain. Beside that, I can highly recommend the place.
Anna Gąciarz★★★★☆
Pension Casablanca is perfectly located in the heart of Santa Cruz. The facilities are spotless, and my bed was very comfortable, complete with two types of pillows. I appreciated the common dining area (equipped with a fridge, microwave, and kettle) and the lovely terrace.
I stayed in Room 101, which features a large, beautiful window overlooking the street. While the street noise didn't bother me, there is a small window above the entrance door facing the corridor that lacks a curtain. Because the corridor lights are motion-activated, the room lit up every time someone walked by. I woke up several times the first night because of this, so I highly recommend bringing a sleep mask if you are sensitive to light.
Also please note that the check in is autonomous and you need to follow the instructions send in one of many messages sent by the Casablanca. I somehow missed the message that contained the link to check-in instructions with the code to the entrance door and needed to call the helpdesk. It would perhaps help if Casablanca sends only one e-mail and stating clearly that there is no staff in place to receive you and that you need to check-in yourself, instead of 4-5 messages that look like clones, but only one of them contained the link to the check-in instructions.
All in all it is a good value for money.

I am still staying there, but I love how well kept everything is, and the staff is super nice, and the apartments are really quiet, with many bathrooms, cleanliness is spot on, if I come back here definitely I Will be staying there

bad experience. we were not sent check in information before arrival. don't stay here for more than 2 nights. don't stay unless you are a very heavy sleeper. there are windows above the room door so light floods onto the room all night long. there is no host or management we had an issue and in 11 days we stayed it wasn't resolved. lovely cleaner and good location but otherwise dreadful. avoid

The hotel was very beautiful and luxurious. The staff were also very friendly. The hotel room was very beautiful and clean. The quality of the bed was also perfect to sleep on. The bathroom was also very clean and nice. The pool on the rooftop was amazing, the view was very beautiful too. When you come with your car it is very difficult to find a parking spot nearby the hotel, because it is free parking. We parked our car at the Mency hotel parking lot which was like 3 minutes walking from the hotel. There is also a little supermarket next to the hotel which was great to buy drinks and snacks. We had a very beautiful experience in this hotel and I recommend it to everyone.

Absolutely spoilt with this hotel. We stayed in a superior double. The quality of everything from the ridicously comfy bed & pillows to the large fluffy towels, bathrobes, even higher quality slippers were all above the norm! The bedroom, bathroom and shower were all fantastic. So quiet and sound proofed. You'd hardly know anyone else was staying around you. Everything felt like luxury. The breakfast was also very good and worth the cost. Can't wait to stay again! Thanks Barceló!

Hotel Príncipe Paz, Tenerife
I had a good stay at Hotel Príncipe Paz overall. The biggest advantage of this hotel is definitely the location — it’s right in the heart of Santa Cruz, surrounded by cafés, shops, parks, and everything you might need. It really makes getting around the city incredibly easy, and for that alone the hotel deserves full marks.
The staff were friendly enough and things ran smoothly during my stay. The room was comfortable, and it worked well as a base for a few days in the city. There are, however, a couple of areas where the hotel could make some improvements. The showers could benefit from better water pressure or a bit of modernisation, and the breakfast experience felt slightly dated. There are quite a few touch points at the buffet where guests have to uncover food items themselves, and it doesn’t feel the most hygienic setup, so refining that would make a big difference.
Still, the stay was pleasant, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the location truly couldn’t be better. I’d happily consider staying again mainly thanks to how convenient and central it is, and with a few small updates the overall experience could be even stronger.

Bad communication. I have stayed here in the past and thought it was a lovely hotel but they are so bad with their communication. Please be careful if you get contacted by WhatsApp asking you to click on a link to confirm your booking or it will get cancelled (it will look very real as the message I received had the details of my booking). I tried to contact the hotel both through booking.com and through their website, never received any reply from them, no reassurance or any interest in trying to find out what happened, so I cancelled my booking. I know this breach of data might not be the hotel's fault but I think not trying to communicate with your client about this incident or the lack of reply to messages is poor practice. Please take this as constructive feedback.
Update to the reply from the hotel: My email has not been hacked, thank goodness. And I know that I shouldn't reply to unwanted messages from scammers. My complaint was not about that but about your lack of communication. The hotel does not reply to any messages through Booking.com and neither replied to my email, that's were my disappointment lies. Thank you for at least replying to this feedback.

Elevator fits only 1 person if you are carrying 2 luggage with you. The food they are serving is okay. Location is ideal if you want to go shopping or food trip.

Very disappointed with the room 310. First of all smell cigarette very bad, shower head broken, shower courtain dirty, towels are old and worn , linen with spots.
Breakfast was okay if you dont have expectations.
Tips for Choosing the Right Hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Selecting the perfect accommodation in a city like Santa Cruz involves more than just comparing prices. The city has distinct neighborhoods, each with its own rhythm and advantages. Whether you prioritize nightlife, tranquility, or cultural immersion, understanding the local layout and practical considerations will help you make a choice that enhances your entire trip.
Consider the purpose of your visit. If you are in town for a concert at the Auditorio or a business event, choose a hotel near the Port or the Cabo-Llanos district. For a shopping and dining holiday, staying near Calle del Castillo or Plaza de España puts you steps away from the main attractions. Leisure travelers looking for a quieter atmosphere should look near Parque García Sanabria, where the streets are shaded and peaceful.
Check for parking before you book. Driving in central Santa Cruz can be challenging, and many centrally located hotels do not have their own parking facilities. If you plan to rent a car to explore the island, verify whether the hotel offers on-site parking or a discounted rate at a nearby public garage. Otherwise, you may find yourself circling narrow streets for a space.
Look for rooftop amenities. Several hotels in the capital feature rooftop terraces with small pools or jacuzzis. These spaces are invaluable after a day of sightseeing, offering a place to cool off and enjoy views of the city or the Atlantic. In a compact urban environment, a rooftop pool can make a significant difference to your overall comfort.
Use public transport to your advantage. Santa Cruz has an efficient tram and bus network that connects to La Laguna and other parts of the island. Choosing a hotel near a tram stop, such as those along the Avenida Tres de Mayo or near the Intercambiador, gives you cheap and easy access to the historic university town of La Laguna without needing a car.
Embrace the local dining scene. While many hotels have excellent restaurants, the real culinary treasures are often found in the streets around the Mercado Nuestra Señora de África and the Barrio de El Toscal. Opting for a hotel within walking distance of these areas allows you to enjoy authentic Canarian tapas and fresh fish without worrying about late-night transport.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife rewards travelers who take the time to explore its layers. By choosing a hotel that aligns with your travel style and taking advantage of the city’s walkable layout, you will experience a side of Tenerife that many visitors miss. Whether you are watching the waves crash against the auditorium at sunset or sipping a cortado in a shaded plaza, the capital offers a sophisticated and genuine Canarian welcome.
From elegant historic buildings to contemporary urban retreats, the accommodation options here reflect the city’s evolving character. No matter which property you choose from our list, you will be well-positioned to discover the vibrant culture, excellent food, and warm hospitality that define Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
