15 Best Beaches and Coastal Walks in Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar is often celebrated for its lively nightlife and family-friendly hotels, but the true soul of this Costa Brava town lies in its rugged coastline. Stretching between the bustling town center and the neighboring resort of Tossa de Mar, the landscape is a dramatic mix of hidden coves, granite cliffs, and Mediterranean pine forests. For travelers looking to swap the crowded pool deck for a towel on the sand, the coastline offers a surprising amount of variety and solitude.

While the main beach is convenient, the real treasures require a bit of legwork or a short drive. The geography of the area creates a series of micro-environments where the water clarity changes dramatically depending on the wind and the sand composition. From wide, golden arcs ideal for families to tiny, pebbled inlets perfect for snorkeling, Lloret de Mar serves as an excellent base for coastal exploration. The nearby GR-92 hiking trail also connects many of these natural wonders, making it a haven for walkers.

Understanding the layout is key to enjoying your visit. The coastline is divided into two distinct directions: the stretch heading south toward Blanes and the wilder, more dramatic route heading north toward Canyelles and Tossa. Each direction offers a different experience, whether you are looking for a beach bar with amenities or a completely untouched patch of nature. Knowing the terrain will help you pack the right shoes and supplies.

For those interested in coastal walks, the paths here are well-trodden but often uneven. The terrain varies from paved promenades to dusty, rocky trails that hug the cliffside. The reward for your effort is almost always a panoramic view of the Mediterranean that is impossible to capture from a car window. The scent of pine mixed with sea salt creates an atmosphere that defines the Costa Brava experience.

Safety and preservation are paramount in this region. Many of the smaller beaches are nestled at the base of cliffs, meaning access is strictly on foot via steep steps. The local government works hard to maintain the balance between tourism and nature, so visitors are encouraged to respect the flora and fauna. Leaving no trace is not just a suggestion here; it is essential to keeping these coves pristine for future generations.

Choosing the right spot depends on your travel style. Families with young children may prefer the accessibility and facilities of the larger beaches, while couples and adventure seekers will gravitate toward the secluded coves. The best time to explore is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, and September when the weather is warm but the crowds are thinner.

Below is a curated guide to the most beautiful beaches and the most rewarding coastal paths in the Lloret de Mar area. Whether you are looking for a strenuous hike or a lazy afternoon on the sand, this list covers the best the region has to offer.

I had an exceptional experience at Sa Caleta Lloret! 🥰 The fortress itself is absolutely fantastic, and the views from there are simply breathtaking. 🤩 I highly recommend visiting this beautiful spot. 💯 Definitely a must-see! ✨
Agnieska Banaite★★★★★
Sa Caleta was one of the most beautiful and atmospheric places I visited near Lloret de Mar. The combination of turquoise water, rocky coastline, boats gently floating near the shore, and the famous castle-like tower above the beach creates a view that feels almost cinematic. The beach itself is smaller and more intimate than the main beach areas, which gives it a calmer and more authentic feeling. The water was incredibly clear, and the surrounding cliffs make the entire place feel protected and peaceful despite being close to a lively tourist town. What made this place especially memorable was the atmosphere during sunset and early evening. The golden light on the rocks and the castle, mixed with the sound of the sea, created a very relaxing and almost romantic mood. It feels like one of those hidden Mediterranean corners that stay in your memory long after the trip ends. I also loved simply walking around the area and looking at the coastline from different viewpoints. Every angle looked like a postcard. A perfect place for swimming, photography, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying the beauty of the Costa Brava.
Jayden Lau★★★★★
The beach is disabled friendly. There is a free disabled toilet and changing room. It was very clean and accessible. There are lots of disabled friendly foot paths and ramps to get around. There are lots of different restaurants and bar offering the local cuisines. Disabled signs and accessible services are clearly sign posted. And the locals are happy to assist you.

Great walking path along the coast. Beautiful views. There’s quite a lot of stairs you need to be aware of before choosing this path, but it’s really worth it. Impressive. A beautiful walk discovering lovely spots and enjoying the scenery. There are quite a few stairs, but it's very accessible. Along the way, you pass through a few small tunnels, and you can climb to the monument of the seafaring woman, the Castell de Sant Joan, reach Fenals beach, Blanes, or, at the other end, Tossa de Mar.

Walking along Cami Ronda in Lloret del Mar, we were treated to absolutely stunning views. The scenic beauty of the coastline and surrounding landscape was truly breathtaking. It's worth taking your time to soak it all in and appreciate the natural splendor. Given the terrain, wearing a comfortable pair of sturdy walking shoes is essential to fully enjoy the experience without any discomfort. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply seeking a peaceful stroll, Cami Ronda offers an unforgettable journey along the picturesque coastline of Lloret del Mar.
Wout Desmet★★☆☆☆
Horrible trail. The beginning around lloret was very nice until we ended up on the road in the suburbs and then it wasn’t really worth it until we left the trail that kept inland to go back to the coast and followed other trails. We ended back on the bland trail and the most amazing part was entering tossa, but that was just a short part of the trail that you could do in a loop from Tossa itself. i would recommend skipping the entire (8-9km!) middle part…
Phil Slander★★★☆☆
Good trail. Steps are solid. Wear good footwear. Some paths need tending to.

The Camí de Ronda from Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar is one of the most beautiful coastal hikes on the Costa Brava, with amazing sea views and several hidden coves along the way. The full route takes around 3–4 hours one way, so bring plenty of water and wear good walking shoes. There are some steep and rocky sections, so it’s not suitable for strollers or people with limited mobility. Start early in summer to avoid the heat.
R. Jander★★★☆☆
There's no denying it, it's a beautiful trail with an equally incredible view. It's strenuous for non-hikers, so it's best suited for the morning. Or you can occasionally use the steps down to the water for a quick dip. Unfortunately, it's very, very dirty both on and off the trail. Although it's hard to understand why, given the numerous trash cans along the way.

A very nice cove not too crowded. There are not too many services so better to bring water and to eat. If you suffer too much the sun also bring a sun umbrella. Clear sea and sand made of pebbles that do not bother.

Cala Banys is a beautiful cove located in the town of Lloret de Mar, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is a small, secluded beach surrounded by rocky cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and lush vegetation. Despite its small size, Cala Banys is a popular destination among locals and tourists alike, especially during the summer months. Visitors can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, or simply sunbathing on the beach. The cove's calm waters also make it an ideal spot for kayaking and paddleboarding. One of the highlights of Cala Banys is the scenic walkway that runs along the cliffside, offering stunning views of the cove and the Mediterranean Sea. Along the way, visitors can also explore the area's unique rock formations and vegetation.

Cala d’en Trons is a small, quiet cove with clear water, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The beach is mostly rocky, so water shoes are recommended. One of the best places to visit in Lloret de Mar and easily one of the highlights of the Costa Brava. The gardens are beautifully maintained and offer incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea, with elegant pathways, sculptures and plenty of spots to take amazing photos. The entrance fee is around €6 for adults, and students can enter for about €3 with a valid student ID, making it excellent value for money. What makes this place special is how peaceful it feels compared to the nearby beaches. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy the scenery and take in some of the best views in Lloret de Mar. If you’re visiting the Costa Brava, this is definitely one of the places most worth your time. A great combination of nature, architecture and some of the best coastal views in the region.
Gabriela Ciortuz Augustinov★★★☆☆
There are some beautiful sea views from the garden, and the entire garden is very well maintained. However, only a small part of it is accessible for people with reduced mobility or parents with baby strollers. Otherwise, there are quite a lot of stairs to climb up and down if you want to explore the whole garden.
Ella★★★★★
Such a great experience. The views were beautiful, and it was so peaceful. Every corner feels perfect, with beautiful pathways, sculptures, and lush greenery creating a relaxing atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet walk, taking photos, or just enjoying the scenery. If you’re visiting Lloret de Mar, this is definitely a place you shouldn’t miss! With that, I must mention the wonderful people working there. They were extremely nice, and even called taxi for us. The taxi service was difficult to reach, due to the high volume of calls, but they kept dialing until someone answered. I was really grateful for their help.
Viktoria Vynogradska★★★★★

On my third visit to Lloret de Mar, I once again really enjoyed my stay. The town is lively, clean, and very well organized for tourists, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and things to do. The beach area is beautiful, with clear water and a great atmosphere both during the day and in the evening. It’s a perfect mix of relaxation and entertainment. Overall, still one of my favorite holiday destinations – I would definitely come back again. 👍
Paul Parent★★★★★
Platja de Lloret de Mar is one of the most well-known beaches on the Costa Brava, combining a lively resort atmosphere with a long, wide stretch of sand that sits right in the heart of town. The beach itself is broad and well-maintained, with golden sand and clear, typically calm Mediterranean waters in the morning. It’s very accessible, with direct access from the promenade, which makes it especially convenient if you’re staying in Lloret de Mar. Facilities are excellent—showers, lifeguards, sunbed rentals, and plenty of nearby cafés and restaurants are all within a few steps. What defines this beach most is its energy. In peak season, it becomes very busy and social, attracting a mix of international tourists, groups of friends, and families. The promenade behind it is lined with bars, beach clubs, and shops, so it feels more urban and animated than secluded. For photography, the contrast between the turquoise water, rocky edges at both ends of the bay, and the dense beachfront architecture offers strong composition opportunities—especially early in the morning or near sunset when the light softens and the crowds thin out. If you’re looking for quiet nature or hidden coves, this isn’t the beach for that. But if you want convenience, atmosphere, and a classic Costa Brava seaside experience with lots of life around you, Platja de Lloret de Mar delivers exactly that.
Lucian Cuibus★★★★★
Perfect beach with nice water and very large space for everyone. You can easily find a lot of markets, but also terraces, bars, and restaurants.

Beautiful, worth taking a walk. Stairs can be steep.
Paul Parent★★★★★
Tucked along the rugged coastline of Lloret de Mar, the Mirador de la Cala des Frares is one of those spots that feels like a hidden reward after a short coastal walk. The path leading there is part of the Camí de Ronda, and although it includes some steps and uneven sections, it’s very manageable and adds a bit of adventure to the experience. Once you reach the viewpoint, the scenery opens up dramatically: jagged rock formations rising from turquoise water, small coves carved into the cliffs, and the wild Costa Brava coastline stretching in both directions. It’s especially striking on a clear day, when the contrast between the deep blue sea and the reddish rocks really stands out. It’s not just a viewpoint, but also a natural pause point along the hike—many visitors stop here to rest, take photos, or simply enjoy the sound of the waves below. Despite being relatively close to Lloret de Mar, it often feels calm compared to the busier beaches nearby.
Neri Martinez★★★★★
Amazing lookup point, the way to get there is not hard but not easy at the same time, it's a really nice spot to rest a little bit and appreciate the views before going down to the calas! You should visit it!

Tips for Exploring the Lloret de Mar Coastline

A successful day on the Costa Brava often comes down to preparation. While the beaches look idyllic in photos, the rugged nature of the terrain and the popularity of the area can present challenges for the unprepared traveler. Here are a few essential tips to ensure your coastal adventure is safe, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Wear proper footwear. Flip-flops are fine for the sand, but the coastal paths are rocky, uneven, and often covered in loose gravel. If you plan to walk between coves or tackle a section of the GR-92, sturdy sandals with ankle support or lightweight hiking shoes are a must.

Pack water and snacks. While the main beaches have chiringuitos and restaurants, the smaller coves often have no services at all. The Spanish sun is intense, especially between noon and 4 p.m., so bring more water than you think you need. A small cooler with fresh fruit or a sandwich can turn a remote cove into a private paradise.

Arrive early or late. Parking near the popular beaches fills up by mid-morning in the summer. To secure a good spot on the sand and avoid the midday heat, aim to arrive before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. The light is also better for photography during these golden hours.

Bring water shoes. Many of the most beautiful coves have coarse sand mixed with pebbles and rocks. Entering the water can be uncomfortable on bare feet, and the rocky areas are often home to sea urchins. A cheap pair of water shoes will make swimming and snorkeling much more pleasant.

Respect the environment. The cliffs and dunes are fragile ecosystems. Stay on marked trails to prevent erosion, and always take your trash with you. If you see a beach that looks too good to be true, it is likely protected, so avoid moving rocks or disturbing wildlife.

The coastline of Lloret de Mar rewards those who are willing to explore beyond the obvious. A short walk from the town center can transport you to a world of turquoise water and silent pine forests that feels a million miles away from the busy promenade. By planning your route and respecting the natural landscape, you can experience a side of the Costa Brava that many visitors never take the time to discover. Whether you spend your day hiking the cliffs or simply floating in a hidden cove, the memory of this rugged shoreline will stay with you long after you have left.
