15 Best Bakeries in Reims

The scent of warm butter, caramelized sugar, and fresh yeast drifting through a cold morning is one of the purest pleasures of French life. In Reims, the historic capital of the Champagne region, this sensory experience is woven into the fabric of daily routine. While the city is globally renowned for its chalk cellars and prestigious bubbles, the local bakery scene is equally deserving of the spotlight.

Reims offers a distinct advantage to bread lovers: the surrounding terroir. The same chalky soil that nourishes the region’s prized grapes also yields exceptional wheat and grains. This proximity to high-quality raw materials allows the city’s bakers to transform simple flour, water, and salt into loaves with remarkable depth and character.

But the story of baking here is not just about geography; it is about heritage. From the traditional baguette de tradition française to the pink-hued biscuits roses created to accompany champagne, the city’s ovens have been firing for centuries. Today, a new generation of artisans is balancing this legacy with modern techniques and organic ingredients.

Whether you are visiting the Notre-Dame Cathedral or stocking up for a picnic in the vineyards, knowing where to find the best bread is essential. You might be craving a flaky croissant for breakfast, a rustic sourdough loaf for lunch, or an elegant patisserie to end a festive dinner. This guide covers the establishments that locals queue for daily.

We have analyzed craftsmanship, ingredient sourcing, and consistency to bring you the definitive list. Each entry represents a commitment to the art of French baking, ensuring that your culinary journey through Reims is as memorable as the architecture. From hidden neighborhood gems to celebrated city-center institutions, there is a perfect crumb waiting for you.

Prepare to discover the finest places to satisfy your carb cravings in the City of Kings. Whether you are a purist looking for a perfect crust or a sweet tooth searching for the ultimate éclair, this selection will guide you to the best the city has to offer.

It was first Boulangerie experience for me in Reims. We bought croissant pistachio and Canele. Croissant was great but I would also like to try plain. Canele was not for my taste, it was spongey and a bit sticky feeling in mouth was good. Caramel and rom was a great companion. Take a coffee and sit in the park near to the Boulangerie. I will definetly try here again for different tastes.

Wow. The best pastries I have ever had. France is the pastry capital of the world and this place is its leader. They have the most amazing and beautiful pastries. The taste is just incredible. The coffee was all so delicious. We stumbled across this place one morning and we’ve not stopped talking about it. Wonderful.
Tiffany Labs★★★★★
Oh my the croissants, pain au chocolat, and cappuccinos were amazing! My friend and I both agree they were the best ones we had in France so far. Don’t pass on this one.

Fabulous! We tried Paris Brest, two flavours of croissant, enormous pain au raisin, lemon meringue tart, flan and apricot pistachio tart. All amazing!

Super nice bakery in Reims. Service was a bit dry but remained good. We tried multiple of their trompe l’œil which were excellent and reasonably priced. Unfortunately they close on Sunday.

The Traveling Bums★★★★★
Cute bakery opposite the royal palace in Reims. Great baked goods, one of the best pain au chocolat we had in France and decent focassia. It has only a few small table outside - seating 12-16 people, expect a long line in the morning since it's popular with locals to take away stuff. But the line moves quick and you can grab quick take aways to enjoy near the palace or the forum. Would recommend for a quick morning trip. Only point was the Cappuccino's were weak and in future would order a double shot !!
Helen★★★★★
The best bakery we ate at during our stay in this area. Delicious sandwiches and desserts!
Alexey Subach★★★☆☆
The tarte Champagne and feuilleté jambon were both quite underwhelming. Maybe they are supposed to be heated up or something but in the cold form it wasn’t as good
Critsy Y★★★★☆
Cute little boulangerie in city center of Reims. They won second place in baguette contest one year I think? Their croissants were pretty good and service was excellent. Good bakery for coffee and breakfast!
Khrystyna N★★★★★
This is the most delicious pastry I’ve ever had , absolutely top quality desserts. Everything is incredibly fresh. I tried the lemon tart, the coffee éclair, the rosa tart, pari brest and two amazing croissants: one almond, and one almond-chocolate. There was a long line on Sunday morning , which shows that this place has the best pastries in Reims.

The pastry is absolutely beautiful and delicious and the Flan was outstanding! The coffee was really tasty too. The owner was very friendly and we had a little chat about the time when he won first prize in a Flan competition in Paris. We thought the prices were pretty fair.

What a delightful find in Reims! A beautiful and serene space with wonderful staff and delicious treats. I only tried the "brookie" (brownie & cookie combined) and vanilla flan with an iced latte, but will definitely be returning for more!

Popped in in the morning and picked up some pastries - the cream puffs were divine and only €1 each! We had 3 but should have bought more. The peanut crunch was amazing and the almond croissants also looked incredible! All baked in house as well. Also dog friendly!

Very chic pastry store offering a wide variety of delectable sweets! 💖 I thoroughly enjoyed the Saint Honoré, it's light and airy, not overly sweet and definitely worth all the stars! Can't wait to try the other pastries next time! ☺️

We discovered this on our way to Switzerland road trip back in 2022. Champagne tour 2023 and back after our Germany road trip coinciding with our wedding anniversary today. It all looks as beautiful as ever. A steady stream of customers but we showed Sylvain the pics early morning in 2022 . How we compare the many croissants to his. He is a lovely persona s are the staff. Highly recommended stop over.

Such a charming little gem! 💕 Boulangerie Les Halles – Sylvia Guglielmi Patissier-Chocolatier-Glacier is absolutely worth the visit. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the pastries? A lovely little spot! We’d left it too late for lunch, and it was too early for cocktails, and the charming young ladies here made us coffees and warmed savoury pastries which were exactly what we needed at 3 pm. The croissants looked delicious and the sweet pastries delectable. If I lived in the neighbourhood, I’d be visiting every day!
James W Singer★★★★★
Food: 5/5 Excellent. Delicious and beautiful presentation. Service: 5/5 Excellent. Polite, prompt, and professional. The two customers before me were American tourists and tried to order in basic French, and the staff were patient and replied slowly and clearly in French so the clients could understand. I observed a very positive interaction with a non-native speaker. True customer service. Ambience: 5/5 Excellent. Charming, elegant interiors and comfortable seating outside. Cleanliness: 5/5 Excellent. Spotless and no litter. Value: 4/5 Very Good. My pastry, "Sicilien" was €5.80 which is comparable to Parisian prices, but the pistachio flavors and quality were phenomenal. Overall: 4.8/5 Excellent. If I visit Reims again, I would patron this location again without any hesitation. If I lived locally, I believe this would be my "go-to" regular boulangerie.

I want to buy two baguettes and few croissant for the weekend. ..In France it is not difficult to find good bakeries. But this place was not good. This place is a Excellent bakery ! Fantastic quality and traditional taste. Black bread with fruits... omg See you soon. // I would like to take a franchise business like this shop in the another country in Europe // Thanks for the Uniqe Experience

This is a commercial bakery but with a 'drive through' collection, & (both indoor & outdoor) seated area. It's only 3 minutes walk on an industrial park from the Ibis Exposition Park hotel, so we had breakfast there today (helpfully it opens at 07.30). Incredibly good value - for two people excellent croissant, tea & coffee baguette & jam - plus beautiful vegetable quiche to take away for lunch - in total only Euro 11.00! All considered 10/10 - perfect.

not too impressed by the baguette. It was more ciabatta like. the multigrain was tasteful, good and kept 3 to 4 days.

No place to sit at all btw. Service was nice 🙂 We bought a lemon merengue and a chocolate eclair. The lemon merengue was good, a bit too bitter though, but other than that it was good. The eclair was my first one, and not sure what it normally is supposed to taste like, but I personally didn't like the filling, it was a bit like cold thin chocolate pudding, but the pastry itself and the chocolate on top were perfect. Very cute place, but there were like 6 wasps on most of the pasties flying around and sitting on them, þaybe you need to find a non-toxic way to keep them away from the food? 🙂 don't know if its just the norm to allow flies on the food or not in other countries.

We got a vanilla eclair and a lemon meringue tart. Both were absolutely delicious, the lady who served us was very kind and patient. You can pick up your pastries and sit in the garden behind the cathedral- lovely!

To be fair, I only went once. Much to my own discontent I went on Easter weekend - it was closed Sunday and Monday. But oh boy did I gorge myself on Saturday. They have a sign claiming “Best butter croissant”. Well…you butter believe it, this was the best croissant I had in my life. I couldn’t stop thinking about it for the rest of the day. I had two actually. We also bought a baguette and a “pain au chocolat”. Everything was warm, sitting behind the counter, not where the display was, just there behind on a tray shelf cart, keeping warm being put there after it’s baking time. Croissant was also warm, to its perfect temperature. Seems weird for me to write a long review after buying only 3 products. But damn, those were the best 3 I could’ve bought. Place non-chalant, next to the Notre Dame cathedral, not in eyesight, but shy enough to be in the center. Excellent service, we butchered our intent to speak French, but hey, better than nothing. I will come back for that croissant.

It's good. The cookie is so special as it's sweet and salty, therefore, I suggest you to give it a try. The cheese quiches (vegetarian) are delicious and the brownie really impressed me! I highly recommend it when you have a way close by. The prices are good. I would highly appreciate if they were warm 😉
Hi I Am★★★★★
I came here on a Saturday at 11am and waited in line for 10 minutes. Ordered several items. From the financiers to the baguette sandwiches to the pastries, they were all great. They also have daily deals Monday - Friday only I believe and this is also where you can get Reims’s famous rose biscuits which unfortunately did not get to try.

What a delightful find while staying in Reims, just a short walk away and located in one of the central streets I was able to locate this gorgeous bakery. The location offers deliciously looking bread, sweet baked goods and some ready made lunch. I was lucky enough to get a prosciutto and cheese sandwich was just decadent! This is another business that deserves a better rating then it’s currently given, I would definitely recommend this spot! I have been there three time in just two days. Lastly, the staff is so kind and understanding! The experience was over all positive.

Excellent bakery selling pastries and organic bread. The almond croissants and almond chocolate pastries are delicious. We also tried the galette ardennaise a la crème which was also super tasty as was the tarte au citron meringue. Worth a visit.

Top place! Great coffee and bakery food. A pie, croissant, a nutella bigné, a chocolate twist, coffee and thee for 16 euro, unbelievable. Great atmosphere in the place and the guys at the counter are great, we will come for breakfast here for the rest of the vacation

Staff were friendly. Coffee was great. The pastries aren’t only beautiful to look at, but also taste great. Croissants were light and fluffly inside. Croque monsieur was a good choice too. Seating area is stunning. Baby seats are available Free parking, EV chargers available and clean toilets.

3.9 stars… excuse me, what does this reflect on? I truly believe the low scores some people leave are pure jealousy — this place is spectacular! From savoury, heavenly-good breads, baguettes, sandwiches, quiches, and wraps to little sweet art pieces that you simply must try with their delicious coffee — everything here is a delight. The Staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating, and helpful, even though we don’t speak French. They were so polite, patient, and welcoming — merci beaucoup! Boulangerie Feuillette is the kind of place that makes you smile from the moment you walk in or actually earlier as baked bread can be sentenced from that funny hotel near by. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing food, and genuine hospitality. A true gem in Reims!

Lovely stop for our group. My only issue is limited gluten free options, but they do have a salad and roasted potatoes. But potatoes were great! Everyone else thought the food was delicious. Very relaxing spot. Open seating upstairs.

Great breakfast spot! Suggested by the Caserne Chanzy concierge, and it didn’t disappoint. Ordering was simple with their QR code menu, and the food was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
Manuela Jimenez de Arechaga★☆☆☆☆
Terrible service — well, equal to none, because everything is ordered through a screen anyway. Allergens and bread descriptions were completely wrong: what was listed as sourdough turned out to be milk bread. I asked for it to be changed, but they refused because apparently “their boss does not like it.” If your system and ingredient descriptions are incorrect, that’s not the customer’s mistake. Instead of taking accountability, the 4 waiters ignored me and wouldn’t even listen to what I was trying to explain. Absolute shitshow.
Marton Szabo★★★★☆
A nice location for brunch. We got loads of food through the brunch offer and it all tasted great. Service was fast and the experience through the QR code ordering was efficient. I only wish the drinks were slightly more elevated in quality, as my coffee was overly sweet and the ice tea was a bit weak. Very good brunch nonetheless.

Wonderful, friendly service and absolutely amazing macarons! Delicious flavours, the chocolate, cherry and salted caramel were exquisite. I only regret that we did not buy more...the ones we bought were gone in one day!
Alexandru Lupu★★★★★
My girlfriend said they're the best macarons she ever had. I agree with her. After eating only supermarket macarons all of my life, I finally understood what's all the hype with this dessert. They're very creamy, lots of filling. Defenitly worth a shot!
Timon van Leest★☆☆☆☆
Whilst we love French pastry, this Chocolatier / Patisserie apparently doesn’t. The pastries we bought looked quite good, but were utterly disappointing, no complex taste, no use of textures, no frutyness or freshness. A raspberry pastry tasted only like chocolate, no raspberry to be found. And all that at the price they ask is an insult to good French patissiers.

It's a really good boulangerie & patisserie in the city centre of Reims. I went there with a friend. Although my friend does not speak French, the bakery staff was very friendly and tried her best to help my friend. I also enjoyed the way they serve the sandwich - it's very unique. Only the filling was displayed and you could choose bread including traditional baguette, olive bread, or grained bread afterwards.

We stopped by to pickup breakfast. It's got great vibes and the bakery products were as fresh as it could get. We visited this place on further two more occasions.
Carole Ramirez★☆☆☆☆
If I could give them 0 stars I would. Terrible service , paid for cafe au lait, never came. When asked, person instructed to make it acted like he had no idea what his coworker just said. Cold quiche, save your money ! There are far more competent places to spend your money in Reims.
Mlov★★★★★
It was so good we had to go thrice. For a few days, specially before dinner time, we saw multiple people carrying the same exact baguette. Not one though, at least three. I guess French really love their good baguettes. We wondered where people got them from. Here, this is the place. These are just built different, fuller (than other European baguettes) and crunchy. Chouquettes - amazing Madeleines - amazing Baguettes - amazing Pain au chocolate - amazing Sandwich du jambon et emmental - amazing Taco boeuf - amazing Olive bread stick - amazing Coffee is not the best though. But this is a boulangerie, so who cares about the “cafe”. Please go here. They are smiling all the time, super quick service despite long queues, which allows you to make decisions on what you want. You can pay cash or card, doesn’t matter.

A very good bakery with quality products. However, I'm very disappointed that the financiers are now offered in a "tart" size. We used to buy several small ones, which we really enjoyed. With this new format, the moist texture is unfortunately gone. It's a real shame, because I won't be buying them anymore.

We bought two small individual pastries (new items) which were visually perfect and delicious. A real work of art, meticulous and exquisite, worthy of the finest pastry shops. I highly recommend them!
Nicolas VUILLEMIN★★★★★
Delicious pastries, tasty and generously sized appetizer baguettes (with Reblochon cheese, bacon, etc.), a wide variety of excellent bread, and welcoming service: this is a truly high-quality bakery! Only the price of some items is a bit of a deterrent.

First time at this bakery and I'm disappointed. I bought two chocolate croissants for my nephews and they were almost empty... It's a shame, but oh well, bad luck for me. After paying €1.20 for a chocolate croissant, I realize you can sometimes find better for less. Maybe I'll have better luck next time.

Been wanting to try Sucré for the longest time and I'm so happy the blocked roads towards the store didn't discourage me. My soul literally left my body the first time I got a bite of their cookies! 🥺🍪 It's a bit hard to find the store because of the ongoing road construction! I'm so glad i soldiered on because those were the best cookies I've ever had since moving to France! Upon reading everything is "fait maison" I was already sold! 💖 And it definitely lives up to its' standards! They have seasonal flavors such as Pumpkin Pie and Pomme & Speculoos for Autumn which was such a delight. The lady at the counter was super nice and was doing everything herself. I also got to taste the Cookie Sunday which had generous amounts of caramelized pecans and cookie bits At first glance, €4-5 seem like a lot for a cookie but they definitely don't skimp on the ingredients. You get a blast of flavors with every bite. It's crunchy on the outside but it has a nice moist center which I definitely like on a chunkier cookie. I recommend this store and most certainly will be coming back to try the other flavors 🍪💖

The best cookies I ever had. Ever. And I had many… Buttery caramel flavour, a huge pile of soft dough baked to perfection that elevates the quality ingredients within: chocolate chips, CARAMEL, miso & white chocolate, peanut butter, and did I mention the CARAMEL? 😅 Thank you for creating these goodies, they truly made my day and I will return every time I visit Reims, promise. Keep up the good work, and please don’t change a thing. They are just perfect. Yum. If you’d like to expand: London, please! 😋

Tips for Choosing the Best Bakeries in Reims

Navigating the bakery landscape in France can be intimidating, especially when every window display looks like a work of art. To ensure you are getting the authentic experience rather than an industrial imitation, it helps to know what separates the masters from the mediocre. Here is how to eat like a local and make the most of your bakery tour in Reims.

Look for the "Artisan Boulanger" Label
This official designation is your guarantee that the bread is kneaded, shaped, and baked on the premises. If you see this sign on the facade, it means the dough is not being trucked in frozen from a factory. In a city like Reims, where tradition is paramount, prioritizing these independent artisans ensures you taste the true flavor of the region.

Prioritize the "Baguette de Tradition"
French law strictly regulates what can be called a "baguette de tradition française." It must contain only flour, water, salt, and yeast, with no additives or preservatives. While a "baguette ordinaire" might look similar, the tradition version will have a deeper, more complex flavor and a superior crust that crackles when you squeeze it.

Time Your Visit Strategically
The rhythm of a French bakery dictates the quality of your purchase. Arrive early in the morning, usually between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM, for pastries that are still warm from the oven. For bread, the late afternoon "second bake" is often the best time, as it aligns with the French dinner hour and guarantees you a loaf that hasn’t been sitting on the shelf all day.

Look for the Regional Specialties
While a plain croissant is a classic choice, Reims has its own local delicacies that you won’t find everywhere. Seek out the biscuit rose, a pink, airy cookie historically dunked in champagne. You should also look for pain brie, a traditional dense bread from the Champagne region, which offers a taste of history that predates the modern baguette.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions
A true artisan baker is proud of their flour source and fermentation process. If you see a loaf that looks interesting, ask what type of flour is used or if the dough is made with a natural levain (sourdough starter). The enthusiasm and knowledge of the staff are usually a direct reflection of the quality of the products behind the glass.

Exploring the bakeries of Reims is more than just a quest for sustenance; it is a cultural immersion. Each loaf tells a story of the region’s agricultural heritage, while each pastry demonstrates the precision and artistry of French craftsmanship. By choosing to support the independent artisans on this list, you are participating in a ritual that has defined this city for generations.

As you wander the streets with a fresh baguette tucked under your arm, you will understand why the French hold this daily purchase in such high regard. Take your time, enjoy the aromas, and allow the simple pleasure of exceptional bread to elevate your visit to the heart of Champagne.
