Reims is a city rightly celebrated for its grand cathedral and legendary champagne houses, but its green spaces offer a quieter, equally rewarding kind of discovery. For residents and visitors alike, the parks and gardens of Reims provide breathing room, seasonal beauty, and a glimpse into local life away from the busy city centre. Whether you are seeking a place for a morning run, a shaded picnic, or simply a bench with a good book, the city’s landscape heritage delivers in every season.
The city’s horticultural legacy is no accident. Over the centuries, landscape architects, religious communities, and municipal planners have shaped a network of green spaces that balance formal French design with more relaxed English-style planting. Many of these sites sit within walking distance of the cathedral or along the tree-lined promenades that frame the historic core. This means you can easily combine sightseeing with a restorative pause under mature trees.
Understanding what each park and garden offers helps you plan a visit that matches your mood and schedule. Some spaces are ideal for families with children, while others suit couples looking for a romantic stroll or photographers hoping to capture seasonal colour. A few are hidden behind unassuming gates, known mostly to locals, while others serve as major gathering points for festivals, markets, and summer concerts.
Because Reims experiences distinct seasonal shifts, the same garden can feel entirely different in April than it does in October. Spring brings magnolias, cherry blossoms, and fresh tulip displays. Summer offers deep shade and long evenings. Autumn turns the city’s many mature trees into a patchwork of amber and gold. Even winter has its appeal, with structured evergreens and quiet paths that invite reflection.
This guide brings together the most rewarding parks and gardens in Reims, selected for their design quality, historical interest, family appeal, and overall atmosphere. Each entry is grounded in practical observation rather than promotional language, so you know what to expect before you set out. The goal is to help you find the right green space for the experience you want, whether that is an active afternoon or a slow, unhurried hour outdoors.
Below, you will find a curated list of the best parks and gardens Reims has to offer, followed by practical advice for making the most of your time outdoors in the city.

Absolutely wonderful and well maintained park! Very dog-friendly also, they even have a dedicated play area where they can go off-leash! 💖 There are some picnic areas, dog plastic bag dispensers are provided and there's areas where you can play rugby or soccer. 10/10 would recommand

It’s really nice place for kids!! They have athletics for small children(0-3) on the photo and +3 years old children. Also they have tranig machines for adults. It’s huge park so if you drop your car at the parking lot, go left at the first fork and walking for 3-5 minutes, you will find the park on your left (We went right at the fork and it takes more than 20 minutes to get there😇).

Perfect for jogging if you're staying at Hôtel les Crayères.
Created in 1911 by the Marquis of Polignac, great-grandson of Mme Pommery, in the grounds of the family's domain, it became the first French physical education center in 1913. Renewed after the destructions of the Great War's bombings, it's a 50 acres terrain full of trees, paths and green.

Small, relaxing park in Reims. Even though it’s near some roads, the pond, ducks, birds, trees, and people enjoying the area help drown out the city noise. Great spot for a quiet break.
G Mac★★★★★
Such a lovely park. It was the end of winter so there was not much water in the lakes and streams as there was cleaning happening. It would be delightful in summer.
Kevin S★★★★★
My favorite park to sit and read a book.
Fernanda Fontana Roman★★★★☆
It’s a beautiful park where you can see ducks and ducklings, although the water is not very clean (at least not in midi-April)
Carol Lawrence★★★★★
This was a bit of a walk out of the town but a great open space for the kids mixture of lake and lay areas. The play area was brilliant for all ages. There was a biking area for doing stunts too. For us added bonus of being some geocaching while there. Great spot

This was a nice park near the city of Reims to have a nice walk and play woth the children. There was a smaller park with climbing frames, trampoline, swings and slides, with a bit of a sandy area. There was a large pond and large open green area we played Frisbee on.
There was also a large rope climbing are and spider web as well as a skate park. There was a free toilet that's automatic and self cleaning between the park and the skate park area.
All in all a good find close to a city. Oh and we noticed on the walk out there was a van selling icecream and drinks and candyfloss as well as a few sweets (Friday) xx

The weather was wet when we passed through so the park was quiet. Nice green space to explore including fountains. Kids enjoyed the various playgrounds spread throughout the park. Swings, climbing trails, mini trampolines and other equipment to enjoy. Has toilets too.
Michael Nghe★★★★★
A really nice park, very kid friendly.
Water area that is not intense for your young kids to play around in without getting too soaked unless they are rolling in the floor +1
A playground areas that would help kids improve their motor skills. +1
Exercising equipments for you as your kid goes play or if you are traveling solo and need to maintain your gains. +1
Has great potential to take some more casual pictures if you are looking for a more natural photography spot, so that would depend on you. I managed to take some of my nephew playing in the water and it had this cool reflective look. +1

Fun place to take this kiddo to play
Cyrielle Fiolin★☆☆☆☆
Great, the children's droppings left behind the bushes by their parents... my little ones played a game of hide-and-seek we won't soon forget... no consideration for others...
Sorry for the city, which provides such nice facilities...

Old city wall, just outside walking routes, with a few benches and playground equipment for children.
Nice to cycle past. For children, there are fun playgrounds on the other side of the city (Square de la Patte d'Oie).
Caesargrgr★★★★★
Evocative. The remains of this Convent or Monastery of the Cordonniers, so named because they wore a rope tied around their waists, are worthily preserved. Today it's the center of a small park with a children's play area. My last visit was due to overcrowding caused by the coronavirus.

I loved it. It was so peaceful.

Always calm and nice. With lots of shade under the trees. There's space where locals play with their dogs, on the hill, but the park is big so if you don't like dogs you will not be bothered.

Tips for Visiting Parks and Gardens in Reims
Knowing a few local habits and seasonal details can make your time in Reims’ green spaces far more enjoyable. These practical tips help you avoid common frustrations, find the best light and quietest moments, and move through the city’s outdoor spaces with the ease of a resident rather than a first-time visitor.
First, plan around the seasons rather than against them. Spring and early summer are the most colourful periods, especially from late March through May, when bulb displays and flowering trees peak. If you want lush greenery and comfortable temperatures, visit between May and September. Autumn is quieter and ideal for photography, while winter paths can be peaceful but sometimes damp, so wear appropriate footwear.
Second, remember that many parks open early and close at dusk, but times shift slightly with the seasons. Larger public parks generally open around 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning, while smaller enclosed gardens may open later. Checking the current seasonal hours on the city’s official website before heading out will save you from arriving at a locked gate.
Third, bring a reusable water bottle and a light snack if you plan to stay for a while. While some larger parks have cafés or kiosks nearby, not all do, especially the smaller residential gardens. A simple picnic is one of the best ways to enjoy the city’s green spaces without spending much money.
Fourth, use the city’s tram and bus network to reach parks that sit slightly outside the centre. Many of the best larger green spaces are within a ten- to fifteen-minute walk from a tram stop, making them easy to reach even if you are travelling with children or carrying picnic supplies.
Fifth, be mindful of local etiquette. Many parks in Reims have designated lawns where sitting is allowed, while others keep certain grass areas protected. Dogs are welcome in some spaces but must remain leashed in most. Respecting posted signs helps keep these gardens beautiful for everyone.
Finally, time your visit to catch the best light. Early morning offers soft light and fewer people, while late afternoon brings a warm glow that is especially lovely in the formal gardens. If you are visiting during summer, avoid the midday heat by planning your park time before noon or after 4:00 in the afternoon.
Reims rewards those who slow down enough to notice the details: a perfectly pruned parterre, a row of lime trees casting shade on a gravel path, or the sound of a fountain echoing against old stone walls. These parks and gardens are not merely breaks from sightseeing; they are part of the city’s living identity. Spending time in them gives you a deeper sense of how Reims balances grandeur with everyday calm.
Whether you have a full afternoon to wander or only twenty minutes between appointments, the city’s green spaces offer a reliable way to reset. Choose one park for a long, lazy visit, or link several together for a gentle walking route through the greener side of Reims. However you explore, you will leave with a fuller understanding of why locals hold these outdoor rooms so dear.
