15 Best Affordable Restaurants in Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez carries a reputation for superyachts, designer boutiques, and exclusive beach clubs where a single sunbed can cost more than a hotel room elsewhere. For many visitors, the assumption is that dining here requires a limitless expense account. While the glamour is real, it only tells half the story of this historic fishing village.

Away from the velvet ropes of Pampelonne Beach, the cobbled backstreets and the working port still cater to locals, fishermen, and savvy travelers who prioritize flavor over flash. The Provençal culinary identity remains strong here, rooted in olive oil, fresh herbs, garlic, and the daily catch from the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Finding value in one of the French Riviera’s most famous destinations is not about compromising on quality. It is about knowing where the seasonal workers eat, where the old fishing families gather for their morning espresso, and which kitchens still make everything from scratch.

This guide is built for those who want to experience the authentic gastronomy of the Var region without leaving with a financial hangover. We focus on fixed-price lunch menus, wood-fired pizzas, traditional Niçoise specialties, and family-run bistros that have resisted the pull of tourism inflation.

You do not need to sacrifice atmosphere or location to eat well on a budget here. Some of the most affordable restaurants in Saint-Tropez offer front-row seats to the passing parade of the Mediterranean, provided you know when to book and what to order.

Below is a curated selection of the best affordable dining options in Saint-Tropez. These establishments have been chosen for their consistency, use of local produce, and commitment to offering genuine value in a market that often prioritizes spectacle.

We lucked upon this gem of a restaurant in St. Tropez. It’s a bit off the beaten path which is a good thing, or we probably wouldn’t have gotten a table. This was some of the best food I have had anywhere in the world. The vitello tonatto was absolutely divine and those hand rolled cheese filled ravioli with fresh tomato were sublime. Every dish was five stars including the wine selections. I would eat here everyday if I could. If you are visiting St. Tropez this is as good as it gets and very reasonably priced as well! Thank you for a wonderful evening and please open a restaurant in Palm beach!

This restaurant is a hidden gem on a side street in St. Tropez. The staff are absolutely magical souls from Italy who are incredibly kind & thoughtful, and care about making your dining experience great from start to finish. The menu is simple, and focused on pasta, but they know how to do it right and for a great price. You choose the kind of pasta and sauce you want and they will make it to perfection. We got the fettuccine bolognese and the truffle truffle ravioli and both were exceptional. We also loved the burrata appetizer. Skip the tourist traps by the water - this is where you want to come when you’re in town.

Arrived at 12:00 with 4 kids, booked the evening before, got served at 13:15 some disgusting pastas. We were the first customers to arrive and got served last. This is one of the worst experience ever. The restaurant is clearly not worth it. They installed us in a smelly outdoor with sewage right under our feet. We asked to be moved and they started to argue, before eventually moving us to another spot. Unfortunately it took them 45 mins to take our order. People who came after us got served and left before we even started eating. The owner doesn't even apologise or try to give us a discount. He smoke before coming back to his kitchen. No sanitary protection (hair not covered). No air-conditioning inside. In terms of food, that's disgusting. The carbonara was dry. The "Tomato and garlic" sauce is not a sauce. Nobody finished their plate due to the disgusting taste. Over 200 euros for this? There are so many other places in St Tropez that are better, cheaper, and more considerate to their customers. Especially the ones with young kids.

The food was really delicious. We ordered truffle pasta, ravioli, and lasagne, and everything was excellent. We were also able to order half a portion of bolognese for our child at half price, which was a very nice touch. All the dishes were served together, and the staff even asked if we wanted the child’s meal to be brought earlier. Before the meal, we also received delicious little rolls with pesto. The restaurant may be a bit off the beaten path, but places like this are often the best ones. Highly recommended!

A wonderful surprise on a quiet street, yet in a very convenient location. We had an incredibly enjoyable and delicious dining experienceβ€”it truly felt like a little trip to Italy in the heart of Saint-Tropez. We loved it so much that, during our short stay, we ended up having almost all of our meals here. The entire team was warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We tried the Bolognese gnocchi, the cheese raviole with tomato and basil sauce, the linguine with pesto, and the lemon ravioli with butter and Parmesan sauce. Every dish was delicious, but the lemon ravioli was absolutely outstandingβ€”without a doubt our favorite. The homemade tiramisu was the perfect way to end the meal, the selection of Italian wines was excellent, and we especially appreciated the limoncello the team kindly offered us after dinnerβ€”a lovely touch. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return the next time we’re in Saint-Tropez. Thank you to the chef and the entire team for such a memorable experience!

4.5/5 stars. Made a reservation for lunch and were seated quickly. We got a seat outside with a nice view of the church. The menu was a set lunch menu with a 2 course meal (choice of appetizer or dessert plus an entree) for 27 euros, and you order from this wooden board, not a physical menu. I got the stracciatella, tomatoes, and arugula pesto for the appetizer, and the sea bass for the main. The appetizer was refreshing, and I enjoyed the mix of herbal flavors. The seabass was tender, and I enjoyed the side of veggies, although some parts of the dish were a little too salty. I tried my husband’s dessert - the pavlova, and it was light and not too sweet. It took a little while to get the bill (as is typical in Europe), but we enjoyed the food and the view.

The menu was small but thoughtfully curated, and every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. We were lucky to get a table outside on a charming little side street, which created a cozy and authentic atmosphere. It was calm and relaxing, yet close enough to the other guests to give the restaurant a warm and lively ambiance. A wonderful dining experience that we would happily recommend.

Great midi option, good price (27 plat + entrΓ©e ou dessert) to be in saint tropez. The plat was very good but the tarte tropezienne was one day old and sec. Service not very welcoming

My husband and I took a day trip to Saint-Tropez for our honeymoon and stopped here for lunch. It was the BEST dining decision we made because it was truly one of the best meals we have ever had! We had the best experience at this family owned restaurant! The food was amazing - our favourite was the calamari. The wife was away for the night so the owners mum stepped in - she also made the best lemon meringue tart we have ever had. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant due to both the food and service.

Just to be straight This is a 3.5 Want to be fair A lovely, elegant, genuine & authentic French meal It’s been tough to find decent French cuisine in St Tropez . It almost doesn’t exist. Or at least not in the way anyone who has been to Paris would understand. It’s a little disappointing. But this place, on our last night, definitely did the trick Good food. Authentic French cooking, flavors, and ingredients. All good. Actually, on reflection, this might be a 4+. If you’re in St tropez, definitely go. You won’t be disappointed.

The people working here are incredibly warm, genuine, and welcoming! The food was absolutely delicious. everything we tried was amazing: the calamari, the lamb shank, the shellfish pasta, and the dessert. The rosΓ© wine was also fantastic. I already want to come back for more!

This restaurant is situated in a beautiful picturesque side street/alleyway full of restaurants, slightly away from the super touristy harbor or the overpriced hotel in Saint Tropez. If I have to imagine a restaurant where the few locals (apparently they exist, because we met them) eat at, this is definitely one of those. The dishes are made with care and ingredients are fresh. I like the fish soup, where you first rub the raw garlic on the croutons, then you add cheese on top of the scrubbed garlic, then you drop it into the piping hot fish soup. It reminds me of the delicious hearty bouillabaisse I had in Marseille. I like the side rice and vegetables too. The owner husband and wife duo are very friendly. Reservation is recommended. They speak English.

We stumbled across here whilst visiting the area and my god. Hands down one of the best dishes I’ve had, the chef is an absolute gem! And this is someone who has been to many a michelin star restaurant in London and Tokyo. I had the sweet potato and pulpo dish and my husband had the steak.
Jelena Brdjicβ˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†
We had been looking forward to our dinner at Lorette and had made a reservation in advance. The restaurant itself is absolutely charming and beautifully decorated, creating a lovely atmosphere. The steak was good and cooked well. Unfortunately, the fries were by far the worst I’ve ever had. Even more disappointing was the rosΓ© wine. Considering you’re in the South of France, where it’s almost impossible to get a bad rosΓ©, this was surprisingly the worst one we had during our entire trip. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. After being seated, we were completely ignored. I had to call the waiter over twice, and each time he simply replied, β€œI’ll be right there.” Unfortunately, β€œright there” turned into the story of the entire evening. He never once came to ask if everything was okay, didn’t clear away empty plates or unnecessary dishes, and we constantly felt like we had to chase him for attention. At one point, I even asked him where he was from. He told me he was from Argentina. I then politely asked why he seemed to be in such a bad mood, hoping it might lighten the atmosphere. Instead, he gave us a rather dismissive answer and offered us a complimentary coffee. While the gesture was appreciated, it didn’t change his attitude or the overall service for the rest of the evening. To be honest, he seemed far more concerned about making sure his hair looked perfect than actually taking care of his guests. It’s a real shame because the restaurant has so much potential and a beautiful atmosphere. Sadly, the poor service overshadowed what could have been a lovely dining experience.

My husband and I were only in Saint-Tropez for one day and were lucky enough to get a reservation here. The servers were so incredibly kind and attentive. The food and drinks were lovely. We really enjoyed this meal! Merci Beaucoup!

Let’s start with the positive - the dinner setting is very beautiful and well decorated, with the tables surrounding the pool. Negatives - we were walked to our table, which was missing a chair, so we waited for that to be brought over (even though we made a reservation for 3 people). We sat down and then within 5 minutes we were asked for our food order, which felt a bit rushed. Service didn’t seem friendly at all. The mains came very quickly, my fish course was okay but lacked flavour, chicken was fine. The tiramisu was so bad, as seen in another review it was like watery cream, with some cocoa powder. Lemon meringue pastry was so hard I had to ask my partner to break it for me!! We told the waitress it wasn’t very good when she asked how everything was and then replied β€œit’s a traditional Italian tiramisu” with no apology or understanding. As someone who has lived in Italy I can also tell you this is not the true Italian tiramisu. - our dirty plates also laid on a tray next to us for longer than I would of liked too - we waited for our bill for a while and got bored of waiting so went to the counter and again mentioned our dislike of the desserts to which we got a meek sorry and asked what was wrong with it which was then met with a shrug πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ they didn’t take it off the bill or apologise much. Such a shame as we came last year and the food was excellent so we made sure to visit again this year but sadly will not be returning!
Julie Hocktonβ˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†
We were on time for our dinner reservation. We order an aperitif, which was fine, than sat for 45 minutes and no one came back to check on us or asked if we were ready to order even though our menus were clearly on the table in front of us. So we asked for the check, which was politely given to us, no one asked why we weren’t having dinner, and we left and ate at Gourdi and had an amazing meal. We are living in Antibes at the moment and have been to St. Tropez before and have never been treated so dismissively.

Great local spot, approved by our hotel concierge. It was a perfect last meal in St Tropez for us. Definitely need to order the mussels entree with a bottle of rose of course. For our mains we shared the truffle gnocchi (YUM) and the grilled calamari. The calamari was just okay, a little dry but the ratatouille served with it was delicious. Overall an affordable, authentic, and delicious meal with a great atmosphere!

Came here twice because it was just that good! The homemade pastas are exceptional β€” we tried both the truffle and the pesto with stracciatella, and while both were mouth-watering, the truffle one was simply unforgettable. The salmon tartare was generous and delicious. They do a homemade lemon meringue pie, light, fluffy, and delicate, a real surprise! Beyond the food, the service was just as memorable: the waitresses were all smiley, bubbly, and genuinely kind, something rare these days. And to top it all off, the prices were very reasonable, which feels almost unheard of for Saint-Tropez. Truly a 5-star quality/price/service!

Last night my friend and i went for dinner at the burger tent. My friends card declined at the first payment so he tried again, it declined the second time and i decided to pay. While we were enjoying our burger my friend looked into his bank account and in the bank account it said that he did in fact pay for our food. He went back and asked the man to clarify and he told him he did not pay. Today my friend went and called his bank to learn that 2 different terminals were used!! We would like to know what has happened here before we take action.

Not next to Cafe de Paris, but definitely worth the one minute walk past the β€œtrendy” Instagram restaurants to have great food and a wonderful view of the St Tropes Port!!! I think the chef is where the money is. I am already wondering when will I come back to have this Veal Milanese. By the way, it’s a very basic meal but worth it without much extravaganza! Gret job

We only stopped for a drink but stayed for lunch. Staff were great and bought some water for our dog. Had the moules frites and a couple of drinks. Would recommend :0)

The food was impressive. The service was a disaster. The waiter was very aggressive, impolite , talking to the customers in a very impolite way. For sure I do not recommend this place . There is plenty of good places in Saint tropez with much better food and for sure much better service.

Highly recommend Beyti if you’re looking for authentic Lebanese cuisine. This wonderful family-run restaurant serves incredibly fresh, flavourful food that is among the best I’ve had. The service is warm and attentive, the location is great, and every dish was absolutely delicious. You can really feel the passion and hospitality behind this place. A true gem that I’ll definitely be returning to.

Really good food, patient service that listens to my food allergies and not like most people, give me an allergen card and then do no more. Thank you for taking the time to listen to the allergies I have and for assuring me that it's not a problem and you will adapt. Excellent authentic food.

Excellent Lebanese cuisine in a stylish new restaurant with friendly attentive service. A/C good in the heat, too! Generous portions that were all delicious. Looking forward to returning!

We had such an incredible meal here. Everything was so fresh and every dish was phenomenal. We were a family of 8 (9 if you count our 1.5 year old) and we all enjoyed every bite. The service was wonderful, everything came fast and the space was a calm oasis away from the busy streets of St Tropez! We would eat here everyday of our trip if we would.

Very nice restaurant and the service excellent, but unfortunately the food wasn’t very delicious, the octopus was very gummy and the meat was tasteless, and the beef wasn’t cooked properly. It was very chewy and required a lot of chewing. Overall, the service was excellent and the restaurant was lovely, but the food could definitely be improved.

Great place. Only issue was service compris then pushed towards a tip on card machine. The door was great - you need to add a salad to the steak

This is really a great restaurant on a narrow side street of the port in St. Tropez. Wonderful atmosphere, lighting and delightful Moroccan soundtrack in background. Couscous dishes were fabulous and Moroccan desserts assortment was fantastique. Great wine list including Provence and Bordeaux reds. Full bar. Great staff, French and English spoken (and menus). Highly recommend.

The best oriental restaurant in Saint Tropez. The food is exceptional, great wine selection, signature cocktails are a must try. My advice is to stay after dinner, shift to the tables in front of the Dj set and stay for drinks, the atmosphere changes a lot later on the night. The service is impeccable, extremely attentive, funny and welcoming. Best experience in Saint Tropez so far.

Had a late pizza order just before midnight. Very friendly staff and fast service. Pizza looked amazing and tasted okay. The β€œkick” to the pizza was missing. That taste were you go mmmmh. Tip the management: maybe try out a different tomato sauce for the base or cheese. Cause otherwise everything was great. 15 euro for a pizza was super fair. Cheaper than in Germany

We had such a lovely night here with my Mum. We had their freshly made pizzas, both were delicious and extremely well made. Our drinks were great and well made but the dessert was the star of the night, a freshly made tiramisu made right in front of us. The restaurant is very easy to find as its on the main road into Saint-Tropez.

Tips for Eating Affordably in Saint-Tropez

Understanding the rhythm of the town is the key to saving money without missing out on the local culture. The pricing structure in Saint-Tropez shifts dramatically between lunch and dinner, and aligning your dining habits with local customs can cut your food budget in half.

1. Prioritize the Lunch Menu (Formule Midi)
Almost every bistro and restaurant in Saint-Tropez offers a two- or three-course lunch menu at a fraction of the Γ  la carte dinner price. You will often get the same quality of cooking, but at a rate designed for local workers and shoppers. Aim to sit down between 12:00 and 13:30.

2. Embrace the Provençal Picnic
The open-air market at Place des Lices is a treasure trove of affordable local produce, cheeses, tapenades, and roast chickens. Buying supplies here and eating on the beach or at a shaded bench not only saves money but offers one of the most authentic sensory experiences in the village.

3. Look for Italian and Niçoise Specialists
Pizzerias and traditional Niçoise snack bars (serving socca, pan bagnat, and pissaladière) offer the highest calorie-to-cost ratio in town. These are not tourist traps; they are the backbone of casual dining in the south of France.

4. Dine a Block Away from the Port
Restaurants directly lining the Vieux Port pay the highest rents, and those costs are passed to you. Walking just two or three streets inlandβ€”toward the Rue Gambetta or the La Ponche quarterβ€”often drops prices by 20% to 30% for identical quality.

5. Avoid the "Beach Club" Trap at Lunch
Unless you are paying for the specific experience of a daybed and DJ, avoid eating lunch at the private beach clubs on Pampelonne. Instead, pack water and snacks, enjoy the public beach access, and return to the village for a late lunch or early dinner at a traditional bistro.

The true luxury of Saint-Tropez is not always found in a champagne bucket. Often, it is found in a perfectly charred pizza crust, a glass of local rosΓ© that costs less than a cocktail in Paris, or a bowl of fresh mussels eaten while watching the fishing boats return to port.

By stepping away from the obvious and embracing the local food culture, you can experience the soul of this legendary village without emptying your wallet. Eat where the Tropezians eat, and you will leave with richer memoriesβ€”and a healthier bank balance.
