I love this supermarket. It has absolutely everything i love. Great selection of meat, seafood. And its only 30 min from Sanremo!
Macléo Tournus★★★★★
Very old supermarket but gets you everything you require, very convenient.
Alex B.★★★★★
Great and very, very big market. I just wished for a french market to have a little more fromagerie, but it just serves your needs. You have everything there for a reasonable price. Good parking and okay location. Very reachable from main roads. The shopping carts should be aranged better, it seems that you can only get them at the parking garage, nowhere near the actual entrance
Rainer Reis★★★★★
Good choice of everything - from food to household appliances.

Really badly organized checkouts meaning customer delay and frustration. Have taken being disorganized to a whole new level. Limited food options with no standouts.
Tracie Bratcher★★★★★
Great store for food fresh and the security officer spoke English helped us out with all of our questions. Everyone in the store way very helpful.

Happy hour 19:00-20:00. Staff are very friendly a tip when u order your drinks gets u loads of perks! 5€ for cocktails makes it very competitive. Dance floor starts at 00:00 out side music is from 6. Food is good considering view is great and seating is much nicer than pavement tables.... where cars drown out most of your conversation.
christopher luff★★★★★
Very good local little supermarket, they have/sell everything you need for local use, a particularly broad selection of wines, beers & cheeses. The staff is well trained, helpful and "Smile"! Christopher.
Chris Ryan★☆☆☆☆
Use as a last resort. I haven't visited for a few years because their prices are so much more expensive than even the other Carrefour stores in Menton. High prices, limited selection, unpleasant staff who treat you like a criminal, I am done with this place. Next time I will walk to the much better Carrefour or simply do without.

Didn’t let me in at 21:50 as they want to close. Very rude ! There is another shop down the street ‘le petit casino’ with Very nice service.

Exellent grocery store with wide selection of water, food, grocerys and wines.

Very slow checkout - add some self-service!
Nathaniel Steiger★★★★☆
It’s a perfectly fine grocery store. Great selection of everything you need. Sure, it’s a little expensive but it’s in the heart of a touristy city. Better than what other reviewers posted. I suppose only people who have bad experiences end up posting reviews about supermarkets. So I felt compelled to write an unbiased review.

Had a doubt the cashier entered the wrong size for the fresh orange juice, as it doesn't have a barcode and the price was higher. I tried to communicate with her in english and italian, and both were useless, just stared at me as a deer in the headlights, without any attempt to understand or communicate. The lack of effort was unprofessional and I gave up.
David Harris★★★☆☆
Just bought a roll of so called ‘cling film’ - the ‘essential brand’ . It was completely useless. Within seconds of trying to use it it became twisted and unusable I returned to the shop but the manager refused to refund my money or exchange it for something else. The product itself was at fault. I have no complaint about the service in the shop but I think if a product does not function properly I ought to have some redress.
Juliana Walter★★★★★
Very easy to navigate for visitors!

Although prices were higher than Carrefour Market, this store had everything we needed and, most importantly, was open on New Year's Day. Since most restaurants were either closed or fully booked for the holiday, having access to this store was a lifesaver.

A normal store, good assortment, no strange smells. I didn't take any photos. Everything we bought (drinks, dessert from the window near the cashier, chocolate) was fresh.

A Gentle Supportive Soul★☆☆☆☆
I hope the management of Aldi is reading this! The bad reviews here are true. The store is most of the time dirty. It seems like the staffs are overworked. They are always in a hurry. I asked the female staff for one item. I was with a pleasant smile and polite voice when I asked. Her attitude towards me was outright impolite. Her response to me was very vey unprofessional! I am 100% if she did that to the owner of Aldi she will be removed from this job! I would like to speak or write a more detailed complaint to the management. I bet the manager will not really be helpful as much as 99.9% of the staffs here. I can’t help but to notice the prevailing bad, really bad attitude of the people working here. This needs attention from the Aldi office! I’m sorry but the staffs here are horrible! Only once in my 80x of coming here did I receive a pleasant help from one young staff. I want to acknowledge her good attitude with customers. I saw she was in a hurry that time but she tried to help me as much as she can and with a pleasant smile and attitude!
Chris Ryan★★★★☆
Great selection, I always stock up here. Solid deal on their Prosecco!

We're used to the Aldi in The Netherlands. This one is much like it. Different products, same concept. It's good but there's nothing that makes it stick out.

Great store for picking up items for a beach days or other. Prices are reasonable and fish was fresh. I also got some fantastic oysters here yesterday
Peter★☆☆☆☆
My bankcard was double charged for my grocery shopping made in this SuperU on the 14th of August. The customer service does not work on weekends, and the complaint form on the website always refuses due to impossible code criteria! Beware all, avoid becoming a victim like I did, go shop elsewhere!
Vappu Sandström★★★★☆
An excellent grocery store with lower prices and a really wide selection – everything from beach toys and sun umbrellas to vegetables, fish, seafood, dairy and meat products, drinks, sunscreen, and other daily essentials. They only provide reusable bags, so bring your own if you need plastic bags. Highly recommended!

Giving this supermarket 4 stars due to its location (5 minutes walk from the marina). 🚶 Everything you need here while staying at the marina, very convenient, friendly staff and consistent opening times 👍 Plenty of parking, nice produce and a quick checkout. 👏👏

Downtown market with all the great super u products. Very cramped city shop with lots of products so it appears a little bit disorganized but that is a small price to pay for originality. Love the shop and it's sometimes weird partons.
L★★★★★
Great little supper market, it had the most you would need. Reasonable prices too. The beer and wine section was well stocked. It was not too busy either. I will be coming back to shop here again. Big bonus highlight, there was an oyster stall outside which had a very impressive selection of oysters.

Much cheaper than Carrefour City which is close by. However, pop over the border to Italy, where prices are at least 30 percent lower

Good. Has parking. Lots and lots of frozen. Fresh section a little small but overall pretty good.

Even you need in the way of food and liquor. Its not a butcher shop so dont expect that kind of meat service.

Fairly standard supermarket but maybe seemed a little rundown. They had everything we wanted and a very nice cheese selection. I still prefer Super U and Carrefour just a little bit over this one.
Jean-Noël Casassus★☆☆☆☆
Really don't like the self checkout, someone from the shop need to unlock the door and check your purchase. Self checkout does not mean that security need to search you each time, please update your procedure.

I have frequented Naturalia stores in the past and have always appreciated their products, but I had a very disappointing experience at this location today. When I entered, I politely asked in French if someone spoke English. A middle-aged staff member responded in an extremely rude and dismissive manner, saying 'no'. When I turned to ask her younger colleague for assistance, the first lady again cut in to speak for her, continuing the dismissive attitude. Thankfully, the younger colleague eventually stepped in to help me, and she was absolutely wonderful and kind. I am very grateful for her professionalism. However, the behavior of the first staff member was unacceptable. I understand that I am in France and do not speak the language, but that does not excuse a lack of basic respect or kindness toward customers. Many tourists and international shoppers visit these stores, and we deserve to be treated with courtesy. Because of this interaction, I do not feel comfortable returning to this specific location. I hope management addresses how customers are greeted and assisted, regardless of the language they speak. There are kind ways of saying that you only speak French
Stefan R. Macovei★☆☆☆☆
Add a self check out option, people are wasting their time queing! The whole paying process is so slow that you can fall asleep. No one wants to spend 30 min queing. 🙂
Lorenzo Bruschi★★☆☆☆
Today I walked into Naturalia. There was a pigeon casually strolling on top of the loose dried fruit from the dispensers. I pointed it out to the staff, and they told me, “He’s a friend.” Look, I appreciate nature and all, but a pigeon walking on the food is a bit too wild.🐦
Graham Ross★☆☆☆☆
This is a shop with some great products . The staff are generally very friendly and helpful, however I overheard a foreign gentleman asking the manager for some assistance via Google translate. She told him off for not saying Bonjour and walked away. I decided to confront the sales representative about this and she responded in a surly and apathetic manner. I asked to speak to the manager and she somewhat cynically responded that she was the manager. When I said 'and you don't care' she confirmed that that was the case. I would like to bring this incident to the attention of the owner as the store is in danger of losing customers and trade.
Mister Martin★★★★★
I bought fresh pigeon there today and it was excellent!🤪

Smart Tips for Grocery Shopping in Menton

Navigating the supermarket scene in a border town like Menton comes with its own set of unique quirks and opportunities. While the stores listed above provide excellent starting points, a few insider strategies can elevate your shopping experience. Understanding the local rhythm and regulations will help you avoid crowds, save money, and discover the best products the region has to offer.

1. Understand the "Frontier Effect"
Because Menton sits directly on the Italian border, many residents cross over to shop in Ventimiglia and vice versa. This means local French supermarkets often stock a fascinating mix of Italian pasta, olive oil, and coffee alongside French staples. If you love Italian cuisine, check the international aisles in the French hypermarkets first—you might save yourself the border traffic.

2. Bring Your Own Bags and Weigh Your Produce
France has strict regulations regarding plastic bags, and while reusable bags are available for purchase, bringing your own is essential. Additionally, in most large supermarkets, you must weigh your fruits and vegetables using the scales provided in the produce section and print a price sticker before heading to the checkout. Forgetting this step often results in a walk of shame back to the produce aisle.

3. Time Your Visit to Avoid the Rush
The French shopping rhythm is distinct. Supermarkets in Menton are typically busiest between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM, and again from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. To shop in peace, visit during the sacred lunch hours (many locals won’t shop between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM) or go early in the morning right when the stores open for the freshest bakery items and empty aisles.

4. Don’t Skip the "Drive" Services
If you have a car and are staying outside the immediate city center, utilizing the "Drive" (click-and-collect) services offered by the larger hypermarkets is a massive time-saver. You can order your groceries online from your accommodation and simply pull into a designated parking bay to have your trunk loaded for you, often at no extra cost.

5. Look for the "Filière" and Local Labels
To truly experience the quality of the Alpes-Maritimes region, look for products labeled "Produit Local" or specific regional labels. The coastal waters provide excellent seafood, and the nearby hills produce incredible citrus, olives, and honey. Supermarkets often highlight these regional products with special signage, offering a superior taste compared to generic imports.

Shopping for groceries in Menton is more than just a chore; it is an immersion into the culinary culture of the Côte d’Azur. By choosing the right store for your specific needs—whether it is a quick run for a baguette or a major stock-up for a holiday villa—you ensure that your meals reflect the high quality of life this region is famous for.

As you explore the aisles, allow yourself to be flexible and curious. The joy of shopping here lies in the discovery of a new local cheese, a perfectly ripe tomato from a nearby farm, or a bottle of rosé that captures the essence of the Mediterranean sun. Bon appétit!
