The ancient corsair city of Saint-Malo offers more than just dramatic tides and granite ramparts; it is also a sanctuary for deep relaxation. After a day spent walking the historic walls or exploring the Intra-Muros, the sea air invites you to slow down and rejuvenate. The local wellness scene has evolved beautifully, blending marine-inspired treatments with contemporary luxury to cater to tired travelers.
Finding the right spa can transform a simple holiday into a restorative retreat. Whether you are seeking a deep tissue massage, a revitalizing facial, or a thermal circuit with a sea view, Saint-Malo has a diverse range of options. From grand thalassotherapy institutes to intimate boutique hideaways, the choices cater to every preference and budget.
The unique geography of the Emerald Coast plays a significant role in the treatments offered here. Many establishments harness the power of seawater, seaweed, and marine minerals, a tradition known as thalassotherapy. This connection to the ocean ensures that a spa day in Saint-Malo feels distinctly local rather than generic.
However, not every spa is created equal, and the atmosphere can vary significantly between a bustling hotel pool and a quiet private cabin. Some visitors prioritize facilities like saunas and hammams, while others are looking for expert therapists and organic product lines. Understanding these differences is key to selecting the perfect match for your needs.
In this guide, we have curated a selection of the finest wellness destinations in the area. We evaluated each location based on the quality of its facilities, the expertise of its staff, the ambiance, and the overall value for money. Our goal is to help you navigate the local scene like an insider.
Below, you will find our selection of the best spas in Saint-Malo, each offering something unique for the discerning visitor.

I have to be honest, I don't know about their rooms because I didn't stay there. I only did their parcours for 1h30 minutes or so.
The staff was friendly and explained the experience to usm the chnaging rooms, shower area, locker rooms, etc were all maintained well and very convenient.
The spa experience was fun with a very detailed parcours + hammam and sauna. I went in a group of 4 and it was pleasant. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an indoor activity in Saint malo
The location is great because right after my spa I went to walk along the beach and it was quite nice
Zita Domonkos★★★★★
As a hungarian (big spa culture) i can tell this spa is very nice. They have good sauna and hamam, the pools has very nice water pressure massages and the staff was helpful and always around to help with anything. There was a lot of people supporting the guests.
Barbara Masefield★★★☆☆
Bad service not only in spa which is completely mechanical, but in the outdoor restaurant where the staff is ill-trained. The food is well presented, and I’m sure that the chef is excellent, but the staff here really do not do justice to the environment the location and the food very very bad service overall
Kent Benson★★★★☆
Great hotel but let down by guests coming to breakfast in their bathrobes and slippers. This lack of appropriate dress code was disappointing. (As well as unpleasant)

Wonderful Aquatonic pools. Lots of jets in salt water, very therapeutic. Has sauna and steam room, ice booth.

I had such a wonderful experience at Phytomer Spa Émeraude. I had made a mistake with the timing of my voucher redemption, but the team was incredibly accommodating and allowed me to redeem it anyway, which I really appreciated. Communication was excellent throughout, including following up with me beforehand.
I had my massage with Fabiola and asked for a firm massage. She absolutely delivered! The pressure was exactly what I wanted and I felt amazing afterwards. Such a lovely way to finish my time in Saint-Malo. Highly recommend! ✨

Off the path from Saint Malo, I expected so much more. Usually we go to Les Grand Thermes Spa and we love every second of it. Yes this Emeraude spa is clean, spacious. Went with my husband and we were not allowed to stay together in the relax room. Out appointment were back to back and we had started chit chatting until he was asked to step out and wait for his massage somewhere else. Really upsetting. I ended up stepping out too and waiting with him in a dark mini nook that serves as waiting space. Asked for a coffee and did not get served until I came back in the relax room to wait for my massage. So I even if my massage is great, my experience has been totally dampened by the staff. I don’t recommend.

We booked a spa treatment for two and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The double suite is truly beautiful, cozy, and perfectly conducive to relaxation.
The staff is professional, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.
A truly wonderful wellness break that we highly recommend!

An absolutely exceptional experience from beginning to end. I went with my mother and brother for a one-hour massage. We received a warm welcome, the massages (each one different for each of us) were wonderful, the scents were divine, and all of this took place in a soothing setting for optimal relaxation. I highly recommend this experience, and a huge thank you again to Tiphaine, Léa, and Coraline L. for the sumptuous moment they gave us and the beauty advice they provided.

Very relaxing and fun with water massage jets for every part of your body - perfect to hang out during bad weather, 42€ no Time limit - different sea waters and sauna/hamam all good, interesting style and towels as many as u need, friendly staff (though at the other posh spa entrance of the hotel they didn’t mention that and said all booked out - wrong! - service/communication can be improved there) - Must try!
Eric Jetner★★★★★
If you’re looking for a spot to rejuvenate and offer yourself some relaxing time this is the place to go. The website tells you how crowded it is. I went on a 90% affluence day. It was busy but not overcrowded. The sea filtered water offers you a good time. Between high pressure jets, to jacuzzi and current paths you’ll find what you need for your body. The steam room and the hot room were great. The service is great and the changing room is efficient and clean. You’ll find lockers to drop your stuff. I recommend to go there if you’re spending a few days in st malo.

If you’re used to spas in North America, this will feel different.
There were no products in the showers, no creams, or anything to pamper yourself with. The instructions are not clear and it’s easy to be lost. You only have access to a part of facility. Some guests have the right to a bathrobe but not the aquatonic ones.
You also have to pay an extra 3€ for a mandatory bonnet. Your there is timed and it is pretty busy.
The water jets are somewhat interesting and enjoyable. It’s a cute experience but you won’t necessarily come out with that spa bliss feeling.
Diane Peters Barilko★★★★★
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Aquatonic Course. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Thank you.

Hello,
It's the first time I joined Aquatonic in Saint-Malo, but I tried twice in Bali (Ayana Resort). I have to say that the service is not at the same level although the facility of Saint-Malo represents the original location of the concept. You would expect it's the best.
The lady supervising the parcours doesn't pay too much attention to the visitors and doesn't advise them. I asked her where the parcours starts but she replied that we can go at any of the 15 stations wherever there is a free spot, this is not the concept of the Aquatonic parcours as there is a logical sequence to follow (I found my way!).
One person took away my towel, so I asked a new one and she told me I could pick up one at the receptionist...I would expect there are spares available close to the water.
I had a different service level in Indonesia.
Overall, it's always a nice experience to go to Aquatonic (nice hardware), but you still have a big room for improvement in terms of service, make it exclusive!

Lovely hotel, but expensive. Very busy spa; not sure how clean it was? The whole spa area is very confusing to navigate and needs updating. The pool was great. Some staff were very friendly, others not.

Grand Hotel right on the seafront. We were lucky to get a wonderful room on the very top floor with a breathtaking sea view. Watching the tides come and go is a mesmerizing experience — the water literally reaches the walls of the hotel, carrying with it the sound of waves and the cries of seagulls.
The sea view is the main highlight and a unique pleasure, like having a private balcony to an endless natural performance.
The hotel also features a huge thermal complex. A variety of pools, saunas, and other relaxing facilities are included in the stay, perfectly complementing a fantastic holiday.
There is also a fine dining restaurant offering exquisite cuisine right inside the hotel.
And of course, the promenade along the seafront, where the hotel is located, is itself a special kind of resort art.
Pierre Melcher★★★★★
Maybe my stay here was so good because it was off-season and not crowded but I really liked this hotel. Check-in was smooth, our room was GREAT. It had recently been redone and had a balcony with a spectacular view of the beach. We had room service breakfast three days in a row and whoever that lady was who answered the phone each morning should get a raise.

Love this place! Had a great experience. Thallaso and all the treatment. My favorite was ondorelax 🥰
Kate S★★★★★
The best hotel in Saint-Malo in my opinion. We were lucky to receive an upgrade and stayed in a room with a sea view, watching the tides and the frequent changes in weather. It’s a place where you feel like staying for several months — or maybe even forever. The room was very clean and spacious, the bed comfortable, and the service impeccable. I also highly recommend visiting their famous aquatic complex Les Thermes Marins de Saint-Malo, which occupies an entire building.

An excellent location by the beach and at the same time within walking distance of the old town. Convenient underground parking, a tasty dinner, and a good breakfast. Clean, spacious rooms with a sea view.
The hotel is clearly geared toward French guests (the lady at the reception proudly declared that she did not speak a word of English), but overall it is a good place for a short stay in Saint-Malo.

Very modern, nice, clean, and comfortable hotel.
HOTEL:
Spacious lobby and lounge area and a small bar and restaurant upstairs.
When we arrived, the lobby was full with a group of people that were going out. We seamlessly checked into our rooms and got settled.
ROOMS:
The rooms were beautiful, clean, comfy, fully equipped and had a beautiful view of the beach. We have a baby with us and they had a crib, blanket, changing pad, and bottle warmer already set up in the room.
There were bath robes, slippers, and a little piece of chocolate nicely laid out on the bed, and bathroom actually had plenty of towels, which was appreciated, as well as a toiletry pack, tissues, shampoo, conditioner, a makeup mirror (whoop whoop!), and water glasses. Coffee pods, a Nespresso machine, tea, a mini fridge and a safe were at our disposal.
BAR:
Not great. We had dinner reservations and wanted to have a drink before we left. We sat down and waited to be greeted. There were two other tables when we arrived so not very busy at all. After a good five minutes a girl greeted us and gave us menus. After another good five minutes a guy came over to take our order. Twenty minutes later (30 in total) still no drinks!!! We sadly had to leave or we would not make dinner. We told the bartender we couldn’t wait any longer and he said only five more minutes but we could not wait and we left!
All in all a very lovely hotel, and aside from the bar, we received excellent service and I would definitely recommend!
Nadezda Thomassin★★★★★
The staff at reception were welcoming. They showed us to our room.
Inside, everything was new and clean.
A couple of notes:
In the morning, I saw that water was being delivered to all rooms during cleaning, but we didn’t receive any.
We asked if the hotel could upgrade our room. We didn’t get a clear answer, but it seems they did upgrade it and in the morning they offered us to pay extra for the upgrade.
Overall, the hotel was worth the money.
Susan Marks★★★★★
Lovely hotel with welcoming and accommodating staff. My son and I each had a room with a balcony - bigger than expected. Comfortable beds. 15-minute walk from train station and about 20-minute walk to the old city.
Jo B★★★★★
After having to leave our previous rental last minute, we called the Hotel Nouveau Monde. The staff very kindly booked us one of the few remaining rooms, and when we arrived less than an hour later, they had even upgraded us!
The whole staff was incredibly friendly and kind. Taking care of us, making sure everything was alright, they were always genuinely smiling and available, whether it be the reception, the bar or the restaurant. Clearly one of our best experiences on this aspect.
The hotel is gorgeous. The room was really comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The pool on the fifth floor is a nice bonus (depending on the time, it can be crowded, but you can also end up alone, which was very nice and relaxing).
We had a lovely stay, they went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and completely changed our short holiday for the best.
Highly recommended.
Thank you again!

+ Staff was friendly and apologetic when things went wrong.
+ I love the aquarium, man. Fishies.
+ Felt like a quiet retreat when returning from the busy streets of Intra Muro.
- We had to wait for our room after the check in time since the cleaning staff wasn't done.
- No glasses or cups? Paper cups in TYOOL 2026???
- No bin by the toilet. Good luck if you are on your period.
- Should probably be more clear with the fact that their parking garage is small and finding other parking opportunities nearby during high season is insane.

What a fantastic hotel! I have been coming to Saint-Malo since 1999 and have stayed at lots of hotels. This hotel hit every single mark: comfortable beds, jetted tub and separate shower, spa and pool amenities, bar, close proximity to the center, and a knockout view. Such a relaxing stay watching and listening to the tides. The only problem we had was the internet was unstable. Otherwise perfect in every way.
Heidi Wilson★★★★★
We stayed in 2 Airbnbs and 2 hotels during our 2-week trip to France. This hotel was our favorite! So spacious, modern, comfortable, easy walking to the walled city and beach. The deck facing the ocean was the best. Very clean, great breakfast too. It felt great being there. The only downside was the was the tight parking garage which was difficult for our BMW X1 and the bathroom glass that provided no privacy for a stay with my son. It would be nice to have a way to close that off. Otherwise, really fantastic!
Martin Gfeller★★★★★
Very nice hotel and great staff. This is (as far as I could see) the only hotel on Plage du Sillon which appears cool and modern from both outside and inside.
It also has a nice but small swimming pool and jacuzzi. The view on the always changing ocean is great.
The city chose to put a cobblestone pavement on the one-way car lane on the beach road, presumably to slow down the cars. This increases noise level from cars (not heavy traffic, but nevertheless). This is no fault of the hotel, but the city did not use any common sense in this choice.
FouadM★☆☆☆☆
I had to try several times to contact the assistant manager who is responsible for the voucher/gift card reservations as it was shown on my gift card and i was only receiving one respond from her team that she is busy and will get back to me later (for one week she was busy), finally i got the respond one day before we go when i decided to send her an email so we were in a hurry and not well organized specially that we have a 2 month old baby.
The room was in the first floor with loud noise at night and without even a balcony as it was shown for our gifted room category, So i do not really recommend this hotel as i do not see it worth it.

While on holiday in Saint-Malo, I discovered this exceptional place to relax. Catherine, in particular, is exceptional. She has a perfect understanding of the body and its energies, and she can give you a massage from your toes to the roots of your hair that will make you want to run a marathon. She listens attentively and has the ability to put you at ease. Thank you so much, Catherine; you also eased my mind and gave me strength.
Delphine LG★★★★★
I was greeted by Catherine, who helped me choose my oil. Without even touching me, she was able to identify the areas that needed more massage—a true understanding of the body. She then adapted the massage accordingly.
I have rarely relaxed so quickly during a massage.
A huge thank you to you, Catherine, for your professionalism and warm welcome.

We were staying at the hotel and spent some time at the spa.
We highly recommend it.
A beautiful heated indoor pool (28 degrees Celsius) opens onto a lovely garden, at the end of which a terrace offers a beautiful sea view.
We had a couples massage.
We are very grateful to Lucie and Laura for their kindness, attentiveness, and the quality of their massage.
They personalized the massage, taking all our requests into account.
A delightful experience!
The double treatment room is very pretty and spacious, and the tables are very comfortable.
We would be delighted to return if we stay at the hotel again.

My partner and I took advantage of the "Day Spa" package. We received a very warm welcome, and the place is lovely. We chose the Diane Barrière signature massage. The place is absolutely magnificent and the welcome was perfect. The service was pleasant, but the price is excessive for this level of service.

This place is great for the whole family. On a hot day, you could spend the whole day here. Theres a warm outdoor pool and water slides, along with a grass area. There are numerous pool inside, with whirl pools ext, that are also nice and warm. Only thing i will say is they are very strict on the type of shorts you can wear. So make sure you pack speedos
Helen P★★★★★
I am not sure how many UK leisure centres the reviewers have visited but this place is great! It was off peak, and rubbish weather so I can't vouch for experience of the outside in peak times.
Everything was very clean and new. There was a large very warm pool for the kids with a play area and a state of the art water slide even with options for themes ! A small lazy river in the pool was fun and a heated outdoors bit.
Bus stops right outside.
I couldn't find any french swimming trunks for my 4 year old in the UK but they had a new vending machine selling them for a reasonable price. We had our picnic in the seated area after. Sure the staff could have been a little more friendly but all in all, great.
Vending machine picture attached for your info.... Was about £10 for his costume. Probably a bit blurry but the goggles and wristbands were about 6 euros
Isabelle R.★★★★★
We loved it. As spa fans it's hard to knock €35 for two people with no time limit, apart from it closing!
There were swimming pools, flumes (which my husband went on with glee), whirlpool pool, then the espace bien-être which has several sauna, hamam, jacuzzi, sensorial showers, ice bucket things, chill out rooms - one with a heated back rest thing.
I've noticed several one star reviews where male swimwear was an issue. In France, ALL spas and pools require Speedos/ Speedo shorts.
Otherwise staff were friendly/ pleasant. Only thing missing were the Tisanes in the dedicated Tisanieres area.
Nicholas Brown★★★★☆
A lovely experience and for €33 for two people it is totally worth it. To enter the pool, you must have the appropriate swimwear. Men need to have a speedo or tight boxers (see image). Women must wear a one piece or two piece with no sleeves or skirts. The dress code is strict for hygiene reasons.
If you do not own the appropriate swimwear there is a Decathlon 15 minutes walk away.
Be aware that your ticket has a time limit. There are morning slots (9:00-12:00) and afternoon slots (12:30-15:00). There is also an evening slot.
The €33 duo tickets give two people access to the adult-only spa and sauna area. There are jacuzzis, steam rooms, and saunas all at different temperatures as well as storm showers and ice machines. The duo ticket also gives you full access to pool areas too. Some things were out of order (including the flumes). However, overall, a great experience.
Richard Dennis★★★★★
Great day out for all the family. Firstly we are a family of 4 and for two adults and two children it was under €30, which is pretty good. There are a number of pools ranging from indoor splash zone to Olympic sized Lane swimming there's also a jacuzzi and obstacle courses( these seem to be placeed in the pool in the afternoon) Outside there is a mix of water slides for all ages. These is also a great picnic area which has volyball and garden games. Food is reasonable, but you can bring your own if you wish. It's always clean and staff are friendly and helpful. We will be returning again next year.

The hotel itself is excellent. The rooms are beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and very comfortable. The overall style of the property is elegant, and the location is another major advantage.
What made the experience less enjoyable was the service. The staff were undoubtedly professional and efficient, but they lacked warmth and flexibility. I completely understand that hotels cannot accommodate every guest request and have every right to decline certain wishes. However, it’s not the decision itself that matters most—it’s how it’s communicated.
Unfortunately, the way some of my requests were handled left me feeling uncomfortable, almost as if I had done something inappropriate simply by asking. A polite refusal with a bit more empathy and friendliness would have made a significant difference. Professionalism is important, but genuine hospitality also requires making guests feel welcome, even when the answer has to be “no.”
Monika Stachova★★★★★
Lovely hotel which was recently renovated. The swimming pool was amazing to start your dat at, very nice and tasty breakfast and a short walk from Sillon beach. You can reach the old town of Saint Malo by beautiful 30 minutes walk along the coast. The highlight was the bathrobes, slippers and linen which were one of the most comfortable in a long time. We loved our stay!

Newly refurbished and looks great. We had a family room which was excellent - nice sitting area - room and bathroom for the kids and we were up some stairs to our own room and bath and sink. Loved the separation whilst all being together. New pool and steam are also good. Breakfast has a great choice. Everyone very welcoming

What an exceptional hotel - newly renovated and really lovely. Fabulous rooms and guest areas. The pool area is lovely. The outdoor terrace really nice and a very short stroll to the sea front and on into Saint Malo old town. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful. A really really lovely hotel

Really nice newly renovated hotel. Great service and wonderful amenities. Close enough to the centre of St Malo without being in the walls. Modern top quality hotel with safe parking and close to beach front yet quiet and comfortable.
Essential Tips for Your Saint-Malo Spa Experience
To ensure your wellness break is as seamless and relaxing as possible, there are a few local nuances to keep in mind. The culture of relaxation in France is slightly different from other parts of the world, particularly regarding silence, nudity, and booking etiquette. Understanding these unwritten rules will help you feel more comfortable and allow you to blend in with the local clientele.
Book well in advance, especially during peak season. Saint-Malo is a highly popular tourist destination from May through September. Slots for massages and facials fill up days, sometimes weeks, in advance. If you are staying in a hotel with a spa, inquire about booking treatments at the same time you reserve your room to avoid disappointment.
Understand the etiquette of the thermal baths. Many of the larger thalassotherapy centers and hotel pools require the use of swimwear in mixed-gender areas, but hammams and saunas often have specific rules. It is common in France to request that you shower with soap before entering thermal circuits. If you are unsure whether swimsuits are allowed in a sauna, check with the front desk or observe the local customs upon arrival.
Arrive early to enjoy the facilities. Most spas allow you to access the pool, sauna, and relaxation rooms at least 30 to 60 minutes before your scheduled treatment. Arriving early not only helps you decompress but ensures that your muscles are warm and receptive before a massage. Rushing in at the last minute counteracts the benefits of the therapy.
Communicate your preferences clearly. French therapists are highly trained professionals, but they are not mind readers. If you prefer a firmer pressure, have an injury, or are pregnant, it is essential to state this during the consultation. Do not be shy about asking for adjustments to the room temperature or music volume; the experience is designed to serve you.
Look for local marine products. To get the most authentic Saint-Malo experience, seek out spas that utilize local brands or ingredients like Breton seawater, algae, or sea salt. These treatments offer benefits that you cannot replicate at home and connect you to the maritime heritage of the region.
Taking the time to unwind in Saint-Malo is the perfect complement to the city’s historic energy. Whether you choose a grand seaside institute with panoramic ocean views or a cozy cabin tucked behind the stone walls, the healing properties of the coast are undeniable. It is an investment in your well-being that will leave you feeling refreshed for the journey home.
