Bordeaux is a city rightly celebrated for its wine, but its culinary landscape extends far beyond the vineyards that surround it. Fantastic, authentic Japanese food and very welcoming service! We got lucky and got a table here without reservation and had delicious authentic Japanese food! They have different choices of raw and cooked starters and main dishes. We took the bento box and the curry and both had a tasty miso soup as a starter. The service was super welcoming and attentive. Overall we can highly recommend it and would come again!
Paul Brown★★★★★
We recently dined at this Japanese restaurant and was thoroughly impressed! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a calm elegance that immediately sets the tone for a great meal. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of authentic flavor—from the incredibly fresh sushi to the perfectly seasoned ramen. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations, which made the experience even better. You can really feel the care and craftsmanship that goes into each plate. Whether you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place is an absolute gem. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu! Highly recommended. 🍣✨

Everything was freshly homemade and super tasty. Broths were super tasty, as were the homemade gyoza. Definitely worth a visit for a good quality and reasonably priced dinner.

The place is quite new so it is nice but needs some improvements. Design and freshness of the food served could be better. But the location is super easy to reach!

This restaurant is a must! Delicious food, amazing service, great price. I ordered the “Japanese bowl of the month” and my husband ordered the Gyoza. Both bowls are delicious. Also, their ice Jasmin tea is very refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day!

I loved that everything was fresh. And the quality of ingredients were great. I wish that they served a bit more soy sauce since I had to ask for more. The service was great. The waitress explained everything in detailed and she even offered a limonade since there was a misunderstanding about the menu. You would need to pay more for a specific piece of wagu. If I remember well it’s +15 for the faut-fillet. I loved the waygu prepared on charcoals. Absolutely delicious and I tried some of my daughters duck! Absolutely wonderful. I think if this place invest a bit more on refine decor it would be the cerise sur le gâteau!
Noah Rowen★★★★★
Incredible experience. I dont think there is another place on earth that has japanese omikase that good with Bordeaux wines. If your going, splash out and get the a5 wagyu kaseiki it goes soo ridiculously well with the Bordeaux reds and was honestly one of the top 3 meals I’ve ever eaten. 10/10
Nobuyuki Hanaki★★★★★
Using soy sauce made both in Japan (Wakayama) and France (Bordeaux), this place offers you a fantastic experience of Japanese food with a very slight French twist. Highly recommend.

Very happy to have discovered this beautiful, authentic Japanese restaurant in Chartrons. The food is excellent and the service impeccable. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Beautiful Japanese food, small menu which often means strong presentation. It did not disappoint at all. Lovely flavours throughout, we had a tuna starter then miso soups, 2 had Vegetarian option and 3 of us had the beef menu all of which was 2 or 3 tiered/stacked. Fabulous and they seem to do lunch only. I washed down with a Kirin Ichiban beer, daughter had a Sake cocktail others had waters. Food a plenty and no room for desert…! A must try, especially close to Stalingrad square and if you just stepped off the river taxi service. We walked in and hit lucky as they slotted us in before closing. Thank you and such a beautiful dog!
Maria Caballero★★★★★
Real Japanese food. Easy and healthy options. I really like that the high quality of the ingredients and the freshness.

Amazing spot, probably the best Japanese restaurant from all the city, hands off. 3 people, all amazing. Small place, just enough for you to infuse with the mood. Few choices of food, perfect to eat something really deep and simple together. And the price just fine, cheery on top. 本当にありがとうございました!

I've been there several times and I love this place 🙂 Typical Japanese food, very tasty, friendly people and a nice choice of sake (nihonshuu).

Mike Tommasi★★★★★
Superb experience at this traditional Japanese restaurant in tje heart of Bordeaux. Superb. Crispy ton-kotsu, maki, misozukeyaki, kobachi, sashimi. Friendly expert service and a nice choice of wines and sake. Impeccable presentation. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.
Bella Risasta★★★★★
We went here for lunch and ordered different set menus. Food was exceptional and the servers are attentive.

It is impossible to book a table by any online means. Website suggests to contact by phone for reservations. I tried around 10 times to call during the day to make a reservation (including by hotel reception) but no one answers the phone. We went there shortly after opening and restaurant was almost empty, explained the situation to the staff, but were refused a table regardless. Extremely bad customer service. I guess some places can’t handle their Michelin guide ranking, which is not only about the food quality.
Donald Bertrand★★☆☆☆
My wife and I thought a Japanese restaurant in Bordeaux would be a unique experience. It certainly was, but not in a good way. The night started out good with the appetizers being quite good. However, from there on, service was excruciating slow. By the time our main dishes arrived, the food was cold and soggy. I decided maybe desert will be worth waiting for. I was wrong, we waited and waited. Finally, we picked our coats, paided and left in disgust. Not impressed! I recommend getting more servers and cooks if needed. I shouldn't be waiting for dessert after being in your restaurant for 2 1/2 hrs. Unacceptable!

Amazing food, with immaculate presentation, and great service by the staff! Had gyoza, yasai ramen and mochi and all were fantastic! Loved the decor of the place, the taste of food and hospitality by the team
Nini★★★★★
I didn’t have much expectation for the food, as viral TikTok/ instagramable places usually disappoint because they just focus on decoration and interior. We were all pleasantly surprised that the food was definitely living up to their reputation! Price quality and portions ratio is fair imo. They also served within a few minutes.
Ben Bremer★★★★★
It was so incredibly good! The Ramen were creamy and umami! It is a beautiful little place with a gorgeous Ambiente!!!
Christian Castel★★★★★
Definitely one of the best Ramen restaurant i went to within Europe area. The soupe is deep and subtil, the ramen light and Karage is cooked to perfection. Big effort on the deco which for sure is far from a standard ramen restaurant but allow a short and condensed trip to Japan.
Santa Dovydaitytė★★★★★
Delicious ramen! Portions were very generous! We also loved there were halal options! Staff was welcoming and friendly 😊 If we would live in Bordeaux, it would be one of the favorite restaurants!

After spending over 4 years in Tokyo, I find this place to be quite interesting in the center or Bordeaux. Of course we are not in the same pricing as in Japan but the experience was quite authentic. With a friend we took the omakase menu and a Junmai sake. We had fun and that was a good place to start hanging out The staff is friendly and quick to answer. Give it a try it your nearby.

An absolute gem! The food was amazingly tasteful. the menu offers creative takes on japanese classics and comfort food. We tasted the kimchi salad, the bao buns, the tofu al ajillo and the okonomyaki, all of which were delicious. the ingredients are fresh and lovingly prepared in the kitchen in the back, which is always visible. the atmosphere in the little restaurant is warm and inviting, also thanks to the very charming people working there. it feels like coming to a friend’s home for a perfect dinner. prices are more than fair for the very high quality of the dishes.
Victor Lluch★★★★★
Lovely place in Bordeaux...we got there the first night of our visit looking for some comfort food and we found it. Women working there adorable and so helpful. The baos were amazing and the kitchen with the egg was sooo good. We ordered as well Tofu 'al ajillo" highly impressed with this one but forgot to take a pic.

WOW. The most authentic delicious, comforting, perfectly seasoned Japanese food I’ve had outside of Japan. Honestly some of the best food I’ve had in Europe. The Chef is incredible and was cooking while servicing. The staff and service is impeccable. I only wish I lived in Bordeaux to have this special meal agaain and again and again!
Vera Bin Zheng★★★★★
This Japanese izakaya allows us to experience authentic Japanese home cooking, and Japanese food is not only sushi and ramen. Every dish is exquisite, and the ingredients are fresh and unique. The head chef told us that the dishes will be modified with seasonal vegetables. The snacks in the restaurant must not be missed, especially the matcha puffs and cheesecakes. It is said that the pastry chef once worked in five-star hotels in Paris and Monaco. There are not many places in this restaurant, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance for a dining time.

Erdna Doof (ErdnaDoof)★☆☆☆☆
Edit after restaurant response: You're ignoring that you did in fact have some bad meat, and it made me ill. It happens. Admit it. And yes, deal with your aggressive staff, but deal with the fact that you made some bad meat. ---- Original review There appear to be two restaurants very close to each other with the same name. To be sure, I'm speaking of the one at 22 Rue Saint-Siméon. My issue is how a problem was dealt with. The end of the meal resulted in being confronted by a young man who claimed to be in charge, and he accused of trying to get a free meal - after I'd already paid our €52.70 bill in full. Then I was insulted about where we came from. Details: My wife and I went there for an early dinner. She ordered three raw fish dishes, and not being a raw fish fan, I ordered a chicken bento box, and a beer. She very much enjoyed her fish dishes, however after a bite or two of the chicken in my bento box, I realised the chicken tasted really bad. I smelled it. It smelled rotten. I did not eat any more of the meat. We did not see the waitress again until we'd both finished and we immediately mentioned the rotten chicken. She said she would speak to the cook. She came back to say that the cook claimed the chicken was fine, and she was sorry that there was nothing she could do. We went to leave and pay the bill at the bar area, and I again expressed my disappointment. Again, the waitress said there's nothing she could do, and she was sorry. I'd hoped they'd make some sort of adjustment, but I grudgingly paid the full amount. Then a young man - maybe 20 - came out from somewhere to aggressively put me in my place, claiming he was in charge. I said that my meat had been bad, and I understand that can sometimes happen, and I reminded him that it's not the complaint so much, but rather how it is dealt with. He argued that the meat was very fresh, and I'm just trying to get a free meal. Again, I had already paid the bill in full before he said that. Here’s the other part that is nagging at me. He said if I'd had an issue, I should have mentioned it to the waitress. I said since she never came to check, we didn't get a chance, but we did mention it immediately when she did come by. He asked what country we were from. I said England. He said that explains everything. He said of course we should have known we should get up and come to find her and deal with it immediately. I found that bizarre that i would be expected to leave the table to chase someone down to complain. This on top of his accusation about trying to get a free meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. You will not like how they treat you. The people in charge need to better handle complaints, and not insult their customers. This encounter completely ruined our experience, despite the rest of the food being good. Follow-up: after 36 hours I did get diarrhoea.
Abi Abi★★★★☆
Efficiently served with a touch of friendliness… rolls and sushi were nice. The location is very cozy with a view on the place. Maybe a bit pricey, I don’t know the average in Bordeaux but paid 38€ had an extra California roll not in the picture…

Visited on a business trip for a late dinner. The restaurant was quiet but still a really nice vibe. Food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Amongst the nicest ramen I've had outside of Japan. If you're in the area and looking for some great ramen and gyoza, this is the place!

Tonkatsu ramen avec porc. Miso style. Tres bien. Perfect when you are from Sydney, Australia and missing cuisine Japonaise. I have been coming here for three years. It just keeps getting better and better. Closest tram stop - line A - Hotel de Police.

Such a lovely find, Suki is small and might be unimpressive from the outside next to a busy road but - how looks can be deceiving. I have been here several time for lunch and each time i’m impressed. the food is amazing, ramen as close as it gets to what I used to eat in Japan. Great gyozas In different delicious flavours - veggies/pork/chicken, it’s great. Both the terrace and the interior are cute - the terrace being a bit noisy next to the road. Staff is always friendly and service is fast. I ll definitely be back.

Good yakiniku fix in bordeaux, yummy cuts of pork and beef. The caramelised fat on the pork was awesome. It even has a Japanese style washroom, complete with auto was and motorised seat cover.

You don't choose your menu, all you get to choose is your drink of the day. The menu consisted of edamame followed by grills of ham and beef options that comes with vegetables. Every table has a grill attached and you grill your meat and have it fresh. Really good restaurant. They have a Japanese toilet with heated seats. My girlfriend loved that about the restaurant strangely .. hahaha Nice and helpful staff

high quality product with a convivial experience to cook at your table. Service was impeccable and a decent wine list to match the Wagyu available on the menu. Wonderful discovery of the Japanese cuisine that is not sushi and a focus on the carnivores!

Sensational food. From start to finish the food is just a conveyor belt of high quality. We did one of each set menu and the Wagyu did not disappoint. Vincent is great and attentive. We really enjoyed the whole experience and will certainly come back when visiting Bordeaux.

Essential Tips for Choosing the Right Japanese Restaurant in Bordeaux

To truly enjoy the Japanese culinary scene in Bordeaux, a little bit of planning can go a long way. The city’s dining culture is vibrant, but the best tables often fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Understanding the different styles of Japanese dining available, from formal kaiseki to casual street food, will help you match your mood to the right venue. Here are a few practical tips to enhance your dining experience and ensure you get the most out of your meal.

1. Book Ahead for Sushi Counters
The most sought-after sushi restaurants in Bordeaux are often small, intimate spaces with limited seating. If you are hoping to sit at the counter and watch the chef work, it is essential to make a reservation several days in advance. Walk-ins are rarely accommodated at the top-tier establishments, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings.

2. Look for Daily Specials
The best chefs in the city base their menus on what is fresh at the market that morning. When you sit down, pay close attention to the "suggestions du jour" or the board outside. These daily specials often feature fish flown in from the Atlantic or seasonal ingredients that are not available on the standard menu.

3. Don’t Skip the Ramen
While sushi often steals the spotlight, Bordeaux has a fantastic ramen scene. A well-made bowl of ramen requires hours of preparation for the broth alone. If a restaurant specializes in ramen, it is usually a sign that they are dedicated to a specific craft rather than trying to do a bit of everything. Prioritize spots that focus on one style of noodle or broth.

4. Understand the Difference Between "Franco-Japonais" and Traditional
Many restaurants in Bordeaux blend French techniques with Japanese flavors. This can be spectacular, but if you are looking for strict authenticity, you need to do a little research. Check the menu for traditional items like chawanmushi, agedashi tofu, or proper nigiri. If the menu relies heavily on cream cheese and mayonnaise-based rolls, it may be catered more to a Western palate.

5. Consider the Lunch Menus for Value
Japanese restaurants in Bordeaux can be expensive at dinner time, but many offer exceptional value during the lunch service. A "menu midi" or bento box often provides a taste of the restaurant’s quality at a fraction of the evening price. This is a great way to experience a high-end venue without breaking the bank.

Bordeaux’s Japanese restaurants are a testament to the city’s growing cosmopolitan nature and its deep appreciation for fine food. Whether you are in the mood for the precision of a master sushi chef or the hearty comfort of a rich broth, the city has an answer for you.
