Finding the right place to stay in Logroño is about more than just a comfortable bed—it is about location, atmosphere, and access to the city’s vibrant culinary soul. For food lovers and cultural explorers, no street in the capital of La Rioja holds more allure than Calle Laurel.
Known affectionately as "La Senda de los Elefantes" (The Path of the Elephants), this narrow, bustling thoroughfare is the epicenter of the city’s famous tapas culture. Here, the tradition is simple: you move from bar to bar, ordering a glass of local Rioja wine and the single specialty of the house.
Staying near this legendary street means you are steps away from sizzling "champi" mushrooms, the famous "patatas bravas," and the irresistible aroma of grilled "zapatillas." You trade the hassle of taxis or designated drivers for the freedom to wander back to your hotel after a long, satisfying evening.
However, the energy of a popular dining district can sometimes be loud, and navigating the narrow historic center by car requires planning. The best accommodations in this area balance proximity to the action with the tranquility needed for a good night’s sleep.
Whether you are visiting for the San Mateo wine harvest festival or a quiet weekend of gastronomy, choosing the right base is essential. Below, we have curated a list of the best hotels and guesthouses that offer the perfect blend of comfort, service, and prime location.

We stayed for two nights at Eurostars Marqués de Vallejo. The hotel is well maintained, the room was very comfortable, and the staff were very friendly—especially Maria, who was very helpful.
However, at checkout, we were charged for tidbits and mineral water on the second day, which we understood to be complimentary. If these items are not complimentary beyond the first day, it would be better for the hotel to clearly inform guests in advance before replenishing them.

We loved this hotel. Plenty of space and the bed was fantastic. There weren't any car parking around so if driving in, choose carefully. However, all the eatries are close by. Handy location.

Great hotel in an even better location. Parking is in a subterranean parking garage on the main road close by (Aparcamientos Espolón) but you pay at the hotel and they validate your ticket. The room was very nice and clean. Best part is that the hotel is literally on one of the main tapas streets in Logroño (Calle de San Juan) and a short walk to another of the best tapas streets (Calle del Laurel). Highly recommended and we definitely plan to stay here again.

This hotel was fantastic! Great location right off an awesome pedestrian street lined with very authentic tapas restaurants. The rooms were nice and clean and the breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. Our only complaint is that the woman working the front desk was horribly rude to us when we were checking out. My husband went up to the desk and told her what room we were checking out of and she said ok and he even asked if he needed to do anything else and she said no. As we were about to leave, luggage in hand, she said, "Sir! You didn't pay!" Like we were trying to skip out on the bill or something! We were so upset because we would NEVER do that and had even checked if we needed to do anything as our CC was on file. Maybe it was a language barrier, but she still didn't have to be so rude about it and act like we were criminals!

The best thing about Hotel Los Bracos is its location. It is just a 3-minute walk to Calle Laurel, which is the most famous street in Logrono. It has a very fun and lively atmosphere, perfect for enjoying excellent tapas and wines, and for going from bar to bar.
The hotel itself is a little old. The air conditioning did not work, only the heating. It was a bit hot inside because the weather is already getting warmer at this time of year. Also, starting at 7 in the morning, you can hear a lot of noise from outside. It is not a place to sleep late if that is your plan.
But for the price and the amazing location, it is definitely worth it.

The location is good, the hotel OK (a little run down) but my room sucked. Sure somebody needs a handicapped room, but a pilgrim? Better to save it for someone with limited mobility. First floor had NO view. 4 stars? You gotta be kidding me - I’ve stayed in nicer 1 and even 2 star hotels. And >€120? What have they been smoking? Pilgrims stay away!

Wonderful hotel at a perfect location. Across the street is Calle Del Laurel, the known street for pintxos hopping.
After a week of walking the Camino, we appreciate a day of rest at this hotel. Price is reasonable. The room has crisp clean sheets, a mini bar, bathroom with a bidet, hot shower, great view from the room.
The hotel offers room at either the front with views but noisy because facing the street, or room in the back which is quieter. We chose the room with views. Our room is on the 6th floor. We could hear the street noise but it didn’t bother us.
Walter Schuster★★☆☆☆
Good location in the center close to restaurants and bars. The room was clean. Unfortunately the lift mechanism is extremely loud and woke me up every few minutes (I normally sleep deeply) and the lift was in use most of the night. Too late to change. Classic Spanish breakfast. Staff at the reception helpful and with a sense of humor. If you go be sure to ask for a quiet room.

The hotel is in a great location, making it easy to explore Logroño on foot. The rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. However, the decor feels a bit dated and could use some updating. The bathroom is functional, but features like the bidet also give it an old-fashioned feel. Overall, I had a pleasant stay, and the excellent location is definitely the hotel's biggest advantage.

you get what you pay for: clean basic room (8th floor, so no traffic noise from busy street) that has not been upgraded for 40 years(?) and has the ambiance of a waiting room at a train station, a choice of pillows, crispy clean bed linen, excellent bathroom. good bed, though hard. excellent location. friendly reception desk. Not a hotel for my wedding night but ideal when exploring the old city as I did.
Daniele Fanin★★★★☆
Hotel Murrieta is very near Logroño old centre and is a 3-star hotel that would benefit aesthetically from a renovation but that has everything that it's expected. Rooms are comfortable and clean, service is efficient and the breakfast offers an ample and satisfactory choice.
Surely recommended and a good price-quality balance.

Wonderful accommodating receptionist staff in particular Fiore, an Italian girl who worked endlessly to make sure guests were happy and comfortable. Rooms are spacious and beautiful in central location. Would highly recommend! Make sure you check the price of their laundry facility before you send!!!

A perfect base for exploring Logrono and the surrounding area. Steps away from the Calle Laurel tapas restaurants in the heart of the old town. Hotel has parking if you’re driving from Bilbao or other airport and they provide helpful directions on how to access through a pedestrian zone.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean - very quiet despite being in center of town.
Thoughtful details are everywhere- tea/ coffee in room, steamer for clothes, high quality bathroom toiletries. Shower has great pressure. Service is friendly and excellent. Will definitely stay here again if in Logrono
Natalia Story★★★★☆
Beautiful hotel in a historic looking building right in one of the central squares of old town. It doesn’t get more central than this for walking everywhere. We inadvertently were in Logroño right in the middle of the Rioja wine festival (San Mateo) though, so it also meant hearing partying and music until 3am — but not their fault! They did send us parking instructions that didn’t work because of road closures though, so we paid to park quite a bit further away on one of the bigger streets surrounding old town. That aside, the property is beautiful and the rooms are extremely comfortable and well-outfitted. Comfortable beds, nice showers, etc. The 3rd-floor terrace overlooking the main square is nice too — a great place for a bar. But the bartender there was extremely rude, insisting to leave the awning out for “other guests” because of “the rain” (on a clear, sunny afternoon with 2 other people there) — when I just wanted to take some photos of the beautiful scenery. It opens and retracts with the push of a button in 5 seconds by the way. So I’d love to share a pretty photo from there, but alas…
Dobrin Stanimirov Mihaylov★★★★★
Very clean rooms and common spaces. Little surprises in the rooms at arrival. Kind staff. Rich breakfast. And they’ve got pretty cool bluetooth-connected sound system in the rooms.
Jeffrey Bau★★★★★
The only reason this does not get 5 stars for the location is due to the small inconvenience of how to get to it. Unfortunately the roads are closed by the police due to the amount of foot traffic for the local establishments. Parking is situated a few blocks away and will require a walk towing your luggage.
Hotel is excellent in all regards, friendly staff and first rate appearance.
Oscar Abello★★★★☆
Great location in the heart of the city. Beautifully restored historic building. Competent and friendly staff in every role. We prefer a larger room, but the room size was adequate and as expected for the area. If we return to Logroño, we will stay here again.

We had a pleasure of staying at Vergara rooms for the day of the Solar Eclipse. We enjoyed our stay in Logroño, and liked their place so we decided to extend our stay for another day. The place is right in the center of the area where all the famous bars and restaurants are. Two parking garages are nearby. All of this was really convenient during the scorching heat. The amenities were great, and for any additional questions we had a quick response from the support on Whatsapp. Overall, next time we plan to visit the town, we'll definitely check the host first.

The worst experience i have ever had.
I booked thought booking but for emergency reasons I had to cancel my reservation.
I was perfectly in time for the cancellation without penalty, I did the request trough booking in the regular way.
Then to be sure that they received the request, I also contacted the hotel.
They have been really rude and they told me that they were not responsible of any cancellation.
So I contacted booking ( the operator was very kind ) and they called the hotel. The operator was treated in a bad way and was told that the receptionist do not speak English ( was not true cause with me they were speaking in English !)
So booking contacted them speaking in spanish but at the end the hotel still refused to do the cancellation.
I did everything on time ( my money were not even yet deducted by the credit card when I asked for the cancellation) and I was not expecting that such luxury hotel could behave in this way.
I totally do not recommend you to stay with them, there are so many better options!!

Good location, rooms are clean with relatively modern bathrooms. The woman at reception was welcoming and friendly.
However, the rooms are very basic, beds are not comfortable. Our view was a grey wall.
We travelled with our pet, and it was nice that they provided a bed and bowls for him.
Note if you travel with pets: most restaurants in Logroño do not accept pets. We found a great one (la tavina) after searching for a long time. The hotel does not allow you to leave your pet in the room, so you're quite restricted for dinner options. I'd suggest the hotel to keep a list of pet friendly dining options so future guests travelling with pets can more easily navigate meal times in the city.

walked the Camino de Santiago in September 2025. I stayed in hotel Sercotel Portales for one night which included breakfast . Unfortanately i arrived at 1100 hours and check in was after 1400 hours but the receptionist was very nice and took my suit case into storage which allowed me to explore Logroño City centre. The hotel has a lovely modern design and is close to the city centre.. The hotel room was nicely decorated and quite large .
The buffet breakfast was very extensive with a great selection of fruit, pastries, cold meats and toast along with coffee.
I would return for another visit to the hotel when i am in Logroño again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sercotel Calle Mayor in Logrono. Our room was spacious, very comfortable, quiet, and clean. I especially loved how the hotel itself is very modern on the interior but housed in a much older building. The staff was very accommodating and friendly as well. The hotel's location near Calle Laurel is also a plus!

Located on a quiet pedestrian only street (although one can legally drive to hotel entrance and an adjacent underground parking facility) in the old town, the hotel offers spacious and quiet rooms. The decor is modern and understated. Bathrooms are spacious and great. Limited hotel service for handling luggage etc. Absolutely outstanding breakfast buffet (added cost to room rate).

Lovely hotel. Excellent breakfast. Had good underground parking. All reception staff were friendly, courteous and spoke good English. Location is great, the main lobby and dining area are comfortable. Rooms are decent and spacious, updated enough. The staff is fine but there was this one short guy the day we arrived who was just so unpleasant! Making the check in process more difficult and giving us an attitude when we asked about the AC (he said: no one here has it on, so just open the window). Thankfully the rest of the staff was nice enough with the rest of our inquiries.

Nice hotel not near main attractions for the city. Morning manager Michael was very helpful. Rooms are clean but had an awful view of an apartment porch behind room. I would consider another hotel if walking the Camino.

Had very nice stay. The breakfast was good and the car park in site very handy but you may struggle to park easily as is very small.
Zeynep Alparslan★☆☆☆☆
As a Camino walker, I deliberately chose this hotel instead of a shared albergue because I was exhausted and wanted a private, quiet room to rest. Unfortunately, my stay was extremely disappointing.
The guests in the next room spent four hours watching TV at maximum volume, shouting to each other and singing. This was far beyond normal noise – my partner, while speaking to me on the phone, could clearly hear their voices.
When I called the reception, I was told they only speak Spanish. Later, when my partner called, instead of warning the noisy guests, the staff offered to move me to another room. This meant I had to repack all my belongings and waste my resting time relocating – completely unacceptable.
The most concerning part was when I suggested creating at least a “quiet floor” for resting guests, the receptionist replied:
“This is Spain, here everyone can do whatever they want until 10 p.m.”
Such a statement is not only unprofessional but also reflects a careless, almost discriminatory mindset. Confusing hospitality with nationalism is shocking in a hotel business.
I cannot recommend this property to anyone who values rest, respect, and basic customer service!

No refrigerator. They didn’t turn on the air-conditioning and it was quite warm so we had to sleep with the window open. Front desk did not speak English and does not understand when you ask for a room number in English. impossible to communicate with the front. We checked in a few hours ago but want to just say how beautiful the apartment is. It's a great value for the price. Very easy to get in and out because of the key cards and codes. And it's literally in front of the best pincho bars.
Dorit Mininberg Klugman★★★☆☆
The apartment itself is well equipped for a 4-member young family or a couple, supplies A/C which is a must for hot days (!) and the staircase is nice and clean also with a lift which is comfortable when u arrive with luggage. But, the location wasn't mentioned when we booked it online... It is ON the bussiest food street where the masses are getting together for pinchos and drinks, certainly not my type of location for lodging...
Oriol Riera Hernàndez★★★★★
We stayed just one night.
Upon arrival, we used the code they provided via WhatsApp to open the door.
Inside, there were two key cards so we could enter without having to remember the code.
They left the air conditioning on for when we arrived.
There were three of us, and there were three of everything: three towels, three clean and well-made single beds, three coffee capsules, three cups, three plates...
The only downside: the refrigerator was a bit noisy.
Keep in mind that it's located on Calle del Laurel, so until people finish their night out enjoying tapas and drinks, it can seem noisy. We were out on the street at that time.
Paula Faundez Toloza★☆☆☆☆
I booked accommodation for work, but because it was such a rush, I wasn't given the option to purchase refund insurance. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, the event we were attending was cancelled. I contacted them to see if I could get a refund or at least change the date, but they offered no options. So they kept my €580 without any refund. Two days later, they relisted the accommodation on their website; only they know if they re-rented it. I wouldn't recommend them because of their poor attitude towards reaching an agreement.

Conveniently located in the center of Logroño. Tapas bars are right outside the building. The apartment is well-equipped and well-insulated. Communication with the owner is very easy. I recommend it.

Good location in Logrono and enough for a short stay. Walkable to lots of good pintxos bars and restaurants.
Overall room is nice, but ours was quite small and faced inside a family’s apartment so we had to keep windows closed, making the room quite dark. Also aircon didn’t work well so it was difficult to get good air circulation. Cost felt somewhat overpriced for what we got.

Best hotel in Logrono
Each time we come to Logrono either passing by to go to Galicia or just simply visiting here for the wine we stay in Logrono.
It is king of the largest city in this region and somewhat acts as the capital of Rioja.

Great value for the money.
First of all excellent service by the receptionist (a middle aged man). We came early and he still processed already our check-in. The room was not ready yet as we expected and he offered to store our luggage safely until the room was ready for us. And this was still an our ahead of the usual check-in time. We used the meantime to explore the festival and Calle Laurel in nearby walking distance. We got to our surprise a great room with the best view onto the mountains. Everything is spotlessly clean, the room spacious, super sound proof, with black out curtains and comfortable. We definitely would come back.
Thank you for the great and friendly service.

Right on the Camino Frances, this hotel is the first accommodation as you enter Logrono. Their solo room is perfect for 1-2 nights. I would definitely stay again.

The sign out front says the road in front of the hotel is for those that live down that street or hotel guest or loading and unloading. Pulled in to unload luggage and met by a rude staff with a clipboard who didn’t bother to ask if we were guests, just that he was recording our big crime.
Check in was not overly friendly.
Room had no temperature control at all. Heat on meant full heat. Doesn’t matter what thermostat is set to, full hot. Only way to cool the room was to open the window.
Location is alright. Still a walk to city center but not far and easy walk. The rudeness of the staff really set the tone for the stay.

In all honesty , it all went well until I requested they turn on the air conditioning. They claimed climate change will not allow us to turn the AC on. I asked for a small fan and they ignored the request. Then was told on the last night that they are working on the AC for me. No fan , no AC. The night before I requested a taxi to the airport for an early next morning flight to Madrid. I got the taxi alright. And I realized I left my little back pack in the taxi. The hotel refused to help. My sister in Mallorca tried calling the hotel and was hung up on. She called the Logrono taxi service and they came back to the airport to give back my backpack. Never again at this hotel company ANYWHERE in Spain. Dismal service.

Great hotel for a two night stay in Logroño - location is amazing. The rooms were nice (though the beds were a bit on the springy side). The front desk staff were helpful and even though we had a miscommunication about luggage storage they really helped us and found a solution for storing our bike bag.
We were heading off on a cycle tour of the area and they even have bike parking in their parkade and space to assemble our bikes. This was really helpful for us.

Very nice hotel although the rooms were a little bit in need of updating. Location was good. Service very good. A small issue with a leaking tap in our bathroom was dealt with promptly. The Hotel car park is a bit tight. If you have a big car or SUV it's best to make the reception aware prior to arrival.

Don't park here or expect any help, the hotel charged us for parking and then failed to register our car number plate so we were fined by the council and then when I went back to the hotel the receptionist put the phone down on me and when I emailed they told me to call a phone number that doesn't exist.
It's not worth it, just go somewhere else.

Good location and a nicer hotel than most.
My only complaint, which many in my group had too, the central air is control for the entire building. It was very warm in our rooms and staff could not help reduce the temperature because it was not room specific. Also, we overheard that the hotel turns off the AC during the early morning until 2PM to conserve energy. To me this is the hotel trying to save money at thier clients expense and experience.
Otherwise, it's a good location and will probably return on the next business trip.

Rooms are old, weak water stream in shower, no drawers. Breakfast is fresh and delicious although the coffee should be improved. Service is very courteous and location is good.
Essential Tips for Staying Near Calle Laurel
To make the most of your visit to Logroño’s gastronomic heart, a little local insight goes a long way. The area operates on a distinct rhythm that differs from the rest of Spain, with late lunches and even later dinners. Understanding the logistics of the old town will help you blend in seamlessly and ensure your stay is as smooth as the Rioja wine you will be drinking. Here are our top tips for navigating the neighborhood like a seasoned local.
1. Master the "Bar Hopping" Etiquette
In Calle Laurel, the goal is not to sit down for a full meal in one place, but to move. Each bar specializes in one or two specific tapas. Order the house specialty, pair it with a "corto" or "crianza," eat standing at the bar or in the street, and move to the next spot. It is perfectly acceptable to spend only ten minutes in a venue before moving on.
2. Time Your Meals Correctly
The kitchens on Calle Laurel typically open around 8:00 PM for dinner service, though the street doesn’t truly come alive until 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM. If you arrive earlier, you may find doors open but the atmosphere quiet. For lunch, aim for 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Going at the "wrong" time might mean missing out on the freshest food or the lively ambiance.
3. Bring Cash for the Small Bars
While hotels and larger restaurants accept all major credit cards, some of the smaller, older taverns on Calle Laurel and neighboring Calle San Juan prefer cash for small transactions. It is much faster for the busy bartenders if you have a few €10 and €20 notes ready, ensuring you don’t hold up the line during a rush.
4. Be Mindful of Noise and Light
If you are a light sleeper, request a room facing an interior courtyard rather than the street. The area is famous for its late-night chatter and the clinking of glasses, which can last until the early hours on weekends. Most quality hotels in the historic center have excellent double-glazed windows, but an interior room guarantees silence.
5. Do Not Drive into the Historic Center
The streets surrounding Calle Laurel are largely pedestrianized and monitored by security cameras that issue fines to unauthorized vehicles. If you are driving, contact your hotel in advance to ask about their recommended parking garages. Usually, the "Parking Espolón" or "Parking Ayuntamiento" are the closest secure options, located just a short walk from the main tapas zone.
6. Explore the Parallel Streets
While Calle Laurel is the most famous, it is not the only game in town. Calle San Agustín and Calle Albornoz run parallel and offer equally impressive, sometimes less crowded, culinary experiences. Venturing one street over often leads to discovering hidden gems where locals prefer to eat, giving you a more authentic taste of Logroño.
Staying near Calle Laurel is an immersive experience that goes far beyond a typical hotel stay. It places you at the beating heart of Riojan culture, where the wine flows freely and the food is prepared with generations of pride.
