12 Best Wine Bars in Logroño

Logroño may be the capital of La Rioja, but it operates at the pace of a leisurely afternoon vermouth. While the surrounding vineyards produce some of the most prestigious wines in the world, the city itself remains refreshingly unpretentious. Here, wine is not a luxury reserved for special occasions; it is a daily ritual, a social glue, and a source of immense local pride.

The historic center is dominated by the legendary Calle del Laurel, a street so dense with culinary excellence that it has earned the nickname "The Path of the Elephants." The tradition here is simple: you move from bar to bar, ordering a glass of wine and the house specialty at each stop. It is a social marathon where the pace is brisk, the conversations are loud, and the quality is remarkably high.

However, to limit your experience solely to Calle del Laurel is to miss the depth of Logroño’s wine culture. Just a few steps away lies Calle San Juan, which offers a slightly more relaxed, yet equally authentic, atmosphere favored by locals. Additionally, the broader old town is dotted with wine bars that range from traditional bodegas to modern, minimalist spaces focusing on natural wines.

Because you are in the heart of Rioja, the wine selection is naturally dominated by Tempranillo, Grenache, and Viura. Yet, the best wine bars in Logroño are pushing boundaries, offering aged whites, rare vintages, and a growing selection of organic and biodynamic labels. The sommeliers and bartenders here possess an encyclopedic knowledge that they are usually more than happy to share.

The concept of a "wine bar" in Logroño blurs the line between a tapas bar and a tasting room. You will rarely find a stuffy, silent environment. Instead, expect barrels lining the walls, napkins on the floor, and a constant clinking of glasses. It is an immersive experience that engages all the senses, driven by the philosophy that wine is best enjoyed with food and friends.

For the traveling oenophile, navigating this labyrinth of barrels and bottles can be overwhelming. That is why we have curated a list of the essential stops that define the city’s character. From historic institutions to hidden gems, this guide covers the places that consistently deliver exceptional pours and unforgettable atmospheres.

Whether you are a seasoned collector hunting for a Gran Reserva or a curious traveler wanting to understand why Rioja is world-famous, Logroño has a stool waiting for you. Prepare your palate for a journey through the very soul of Spanish wine culture.

Super love this place. Awesome vibes, good drinks, cool music (80's), nice indoor tables and an airconditioner! Isaac was very attentive and hospitable. We loved their different kinds of gildas and the gorgonzola cheese on a cone was the bomb! Hands down our favorite bar in Calle San Juan. Will definitely be back

I absolutely loved your bar! ❤️ An incredible selection of wines by the glass, such a charming atmosphere, and everything served in Riedel — sophisticated and cool at the same time. We were attended to by Txorin (hope I spelled it right!) with such warmth and knowledge that he turned the night into something really special. And the fair prices were the perfect finishing touch!!! 🌟🌟🌟

We came here two nights in a row because of the amazing service and food. All the wine recommendations we had were perfect. We tried the Gambas Crystal, Zamburiñas, and Ostras Al Cava. All the food was perfectly cooked and served. Highly recommend everyone stopping in for the phenomenal food and friendly service.

The food was good, but we were the most thankful to our amazing waiter. His English was perfect, he was very kind and explained everything to us about the dishes. So the experience was simply pleasant thanks to him.
Robert Rychlik★★★★☆
We visited this place out of a friend recommendation. And we been there twice night after night. First experience was fenomenal, we tasted very good tortilla and a dish local mushrooms. Superb selection on wines and very good atmosphere. Second time was not so great, there was a bigger event happening after we came…. Anyway, I would return there. very knowledgeable staff, friendly and hardworking. They have amazing selection of wines per glass (i saw around 20 whites, 10 reds and some rose and sparkling/cava. Bottle selection seems unlimited. Food selection is also very good, but in the evening you will need wait till 8pm to order food.
Q G★★★★☆
Very good selection of wines by the glass, perfect for trying and discovering interesting labels. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat anything because the place was packed, and it took me a long time to be able to order. The décor is nice and well thought out, but due to the large crowd, I found it quite noisy. I believe the experience would be much better at a quieter time.
Luis Crespo★★★★★
What better way to enjoy the Rioja wine region, than a restaurant named Wine Fandango? Located between the center and the historical city, the environment is very welcoming, making you feel as if you're at a friend's villa. Service is exquisite, the food very palatable, and the most amazing thing, it's not that expensive. Definitely recommend.
Mister Morelight★★★★★
We highly recommend Wine Fandango in Logroño. In a town dedicated to the quick tapas, Fandango is a more tranquil, sophisticated and elegant table. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building but never feels like it. There is a descending staircase with levels for the terrace before entering. The entrance features both a spectacular half-moon shaped wine cellar. Opposite, the bar is equally spectacular with side panels that lift all the way up to the ceiling with different alcool bottles. We were quickly seated and well assisted with the menu. All dishes were impeccable, this is restaurant for adults, beautiful presentations in a modern style of plating. We ordered different wines by the glass, they have a pretty good selection. Surprisingly, not the best wine we sampled in Logroño, their selection is wide, it can be hit or miss. For a restaurant that has «wine» in their name, in a wine area, with awesome food, I was expecting more (constructive criticism here). Service was very professional. One of us had a special request at the end of the meal. I saw the kitchen was closing, they still delivered the request, I was impressed with the professionalism of this place. Overall, rather on the expensive side however the quality, service and presentation were equal to the price and as such, price/quality is respected here. Highly recommended, go without hesitation. P.S.: please leave a 👍of this review was helpful in making choices, thank you 🙏

Alexey Subach★☆☆☆☆
A very weird experience. First off, they have advertisements in both Spanish and English and they are slightly different. Next, this place openly advertises a tasting of 3 Rioja reserva wines with some snacks at 15 EUR. We asked for that tasting and it was quite difficult already to understand each other with the man at the counter. When I showed the specific option from the Spanish menu I wanted, the man brought the english advertisement and pointed us at it. Anyway, we seemed to have e understood each other in the end. He showed us some three bottles of wine which we approved. Next, he pulled up two wine glasses and we told him that we only need one tasting as the other person is driving. The man refused to serve us then and told us that the minimum number of tastings was two and he didn’t want to open the bottles just for one tasting. The advertisement didn’t say anything about the minimal number of people. This business simply failed to serve what it advertised on the street on a plate with a piece of chalk - something very easy to adjust if you are not able to serve it anymore. I recommend avoiding this place for tastings due to absolute lack of customer attitude. In terms of the wine shop, there is a way much better one with 5-10x selection just 5mins of walk away
Lindsay McDonald★★★★★
Came in for a spontaneous tasting and had the best experience! Very friendly and provided a lot of information and history on the wines. They had a great selection of cheese and meats to snack on while tasting. Would definitely recommend visiting!
Bret Neal★★★★★
A wonderful experience, the owner Luis was very welcoming and super informative about the wines of the area. He took us on a private wine tour to a local winery. He alsotook us down Calle Laurel for a food and wine experience of his favorite places. I hope to visit again!
Mike Fiske★★★★★
Having read positive reviews we popped into Vinoteca San Agustin for a wine tasting at short notice early this lunchtime. Luis and Susanna could not have been more accommodating, a delicious tasting of crianzas in very generous measures, accompanied by plates of tasty chorizo and cheese. We were so impressed with their selection of Rioja wines, very reaonable at all price points, that we left with a bottle of Imperial reserva and Contino reserva, both of which were delicious. Friendly service and excellent selection, highly recommended.
Dong-Oh Shin★★★★★
Wonderfully welcoming independent wine shop staffed by Carlos and Susannah. We came in for a very fair priced tasting completely impromptu. It was a case of our broken Spanish combined with their broken English. If you can work this out, they are incredibly welcoming and chatty. They are so knowledgeable and passionate about rioja wine. We ended up buying a memorable bottle on their recommendation.

Riojan style tripe €2.5 : Must try! Very well cooked tender tripe in tomato based sauce.
Steffen Schairer★★★★★
The "Zorropito" is a must for every tapas tour. It is a delicious sandwich: * It's essentially a small, hot sandwich. * It consists of a warm, slightly crusty bun. * It's filled with ali-oli sauce, ham, and either pork loin or bacon (or both).

I have a wheat allergy and they were so helpful and accommodating. My meal was wonderful. Definitely going back to try more yummy dishes.

A must-visit for anyone who loves specialty filter coffee. Incredible coffee selection, flawless brewing, and outstanding attention to detail. Everything was perfect. Special thanks to Valeria for making us some truly exceptional coffee.
Claire Cronin★★★★★
Amazing food, wine, service and atmosphere. Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about wine and the origin of their coffee. Well priced and would definitely recommend, a unique experience!
MAURICIO REYGADAS★★★★★
I would definitely say this is the best coffee/study shop in all of Logroño. Apart from the fact that it has very fast and reliable wifi and there are people on their computers here every day the coffee and food selection here are incredible. The place itself is extremely well located right next to the cathedral and has a warm modern aesthetic. If there is one thing I recommend is the cold brew!
Paul St. Laurent★★★★★
Great location, service, food and wine selections. Our favorite place to sit at the bar and enjoy all this restaurant has to offer.
Robert Rychlik★★★★★
We had superb dinner there. Great food: we had asparagus, anchovies, bread with herbs butter and pasta with artichokes’ hearts (from specials)(and yes, we ordered pasta in Spain, it was made very well). Great and friendly service. They had deep knowledge on wines. There was a good selection of several whites and reds and even more to buy per bottle to choose from. Many local wines ones as well, from just 30 minutes away wineries. The atmosphere was ambient, and our favorite music was played in the background. Much quieter than in some other local tavernas. Must visit place in Logroño.

Hands down the best pinchos we had in Logroño. Everything we tried was excellent. The marinated tuna stood out the most. We went back a few times 😋 It was also not expensive which was a nice surprise given their Michelin ratings. Highly recommend!!
Pokemon Mom★★★★★
Tuna tataki was very delicious, fresh with Japanese twist in flavor. Very nice. The basque cheese cake was moist, creamy and not too sweet. So good! Wine selection was extensive. Our crianzas were both very good. Everything was clearly labeled which was very helpful. Standing room at bar and tables available in back.
J Wo★★★★★
Amazing tapas with over 60+ wines from all over Spain to choose from! The dishes are only $6-$8 on average, definitely high dining level food. You can ask for wine pairing recommendations to go with each tapas from the staff. Quite busy throughout the day, good place to eat with the locals.
Hordur O★★★★★
Amazing food accompanying high quality Rioja wines, a bit crowded yet good atmosphere. The tuna tataki was excellent and the Abel Mendoza Monga - Séleccion Personal 2021 was fantastic!
Jennifer Lee★★★★★
This place blew me away. They deserve the Michelin star. The oxtail was not to be missed and the tuna toast was my favorite. Surprising! I also loved the tempura. It was freshly done. Wasn’t in love with the mushroom toast or the cod but it was just less flavorful and still worth it. The wine was also some of my favorite in Spain. Really you must go. It was fantastic. Go at 8 pm when it opens because it was really busy by the time we left

This classic spot is a must-try when you’re in town! Despite the busy atmosphere, the friendly and efficient bartenders make sure you get your drink quickly. And let’s not forget their freshly made mushrooms on the bread, it’s a tie for my favorite! It’s the perfect place to grab a glass of wine for a relaxing afternoon. The food is delicious, quick, and incredibly affordable. Don’t let the crowd intimidate you; it’s located in the heart of town and is a very normal and easy place to visit.

They only do Mushrooms but they do them with style! This was our favourite tapa of the night by far. Fresh mushrooms cooked with garlic, parsley and olive oil and topped with a small prawn. Beautifully seasoned and accompanied with a Rioja Crianza which was divine. All this for 7.80 euros was fantastic value for money! Definitely don't miss this place!

There is one thing on the menu, mushroom pintxo, but OMG!!! I've never had muchroom this delicious before. Simple yet amazing. The service? No drama, just tell the gentleman behind the counter how many pieces, no carta needed 😆

When a place only serves one dish, you would expect it to be amazing….and you would be right! The mushrooms were outstandingly delicious. Highly recommend.

I don't like mushrooms, but I loved these mushrooms! The tiny bar was heaving with customers, all in good form watching countless plates of mushrooms getting prepped and served by the staff who know exactly what they're doing.

A very nice wine shop with a wide selection of wines and other liquors. The owner is professional, kind, and speaks excellent English. They also offer wine tastings, which we look forward to trying one day!
Ashlesha★☆☆☆☆
Went there only to get scolded at by whoever was working there, they might be experts like a big fish in a small pond but you got to work on your peoples skills because no customer likes to be told off. Hopefully these people improve unless they are trying to get rid of tourists because it felt that way. Context - Got scolded for just walking in and asking about the wine tasting because he said "its not a walk-in bar" and then starting blabbering about how people use chatgpt and arrive over there clueless. We are supposed to book the wine tasting online because they need more poeple at a time sitting down for that. And then the nerve to ask if we wanted to buy a wine bottle . Really??😒
We went There★★★★★
Great tasting with the owner today. We spent about an hour in the shop. Learned a lot about local Rioja trends and tasted some really good wines. Tasting was unfussy and the price of the tasting and the bottles on display was most reasonable and we did buy a couple.

We had a wonderful experience at Baco - "el mejor vinoteca de Logroño" (or maybe de la Rioja). Juanjo & Dani are both super knowledgeable about the different wineries and sub-regions of La Rioja and Ribeiro del Duero. They are happy to spend time chatting with customers in English o en español. I definitely recommend visiting them. If we can squeeze it in, we will go back for a wine tasting event!

A good bar located near the center of Logroño, with a good variety of tasty tapas. On Thursdays they have "hot dogs Thursdays," where hot dogs are €2.50 and pints are €2. The prices are cheap and the quality is good. Very family-friendly.
Sara Gil Salinas★★★★★
A very attractive bar; its bar is quite good, if not excellent. The coffee, despite being capsules—I say "despite" because I'm a big fan of traditional coffee—is delicious. The waiter/one of the owners who served me is a true professional. The service was excellent, friendly, and personal; you can tell he loves his job. The place isn't very big, but it doesn't need to be to have charm. °Spacious terrace. °Cleanliness. °Quality. °Dedication. °Award-winning pintxos.
Trama Impresores★★★★★
A great place for a beer and a tapa. The selection isn't huge, but their seven tapas are fantastic and all freshly made. The service is very attentive and friendly. I've noticed there are a lot of regulars, which is always a good sign. I'll be back often.

Our group of 24 (plus our tour manager and coach bus driver) sat on the upper floor for dinner. We were served family style of fresh baked bread, crispy pork belly, croquettes, pimentos de padron, a tomato salad (thinly sliced) drizzled with balsamic vinegar, grated cheese and olive oil, and lamb shank with potatoes. We were served with copious amounts of red and white wine. Dessert too, but I didn’t take a photo and don’t recall what it was. Overall, a great dinner with friends. I cannot comment on the price because it was part of our tour package.
Sofie Mala★★★★★
One of the very few pet friendly restaurants in logroño! We had an amazing meal in the upstairs restaurant. Service was excellent exceptional, super attentive and friendly. The food was really special, we had the tasting menu and really enjoyed it. Our pet was welcome which was a big plus in a city where most restaurants do not accept dogs. The downstairs bar/tapas area is lively and very informal, but the upstairs is more upscale - offering amazing wines from the region. Definitely recommend!
Juliana Mosquera★★★★☆
Great food and wine selection, friendly and helpful staff to guide you through the pinxtos and wine menus, which are vast!
Bites by Lili★★★★★
Tried the beef tartare and it was excellent, fresh, tender, and well-seasoned with just the right balance of flavors. The cheesecake was decent, nothing too special. But the real surprise? The wine mixed with lemonade, probably the best drink I’ve had today! Definitely worth a visit for the food and drinks.
Mister Morelight★★★☆☆
For some reason, this restaurant is highly rated. We could not understand why. The wine selection is outstanding, that is on the bright side. However, food was well-below par. I made the mistake of ordering fried artichokes. I only learned from another customer that it was the wrong season for that. Very underwhelming, I would remove it from menu if I was the owner. Small portion on top of that. The rest of the food was average. We left after 2-3 tapas because of that. I would still return because the inside atmosphere was awesome, dominated by wine bottles, it is very attractive from the outside. But I would only drink here. Service was quick and amicable, but not that friendly. Overall, just an average place, there are better options in Logroño. P.S.: if this review was useful to you, please leave a quick ❤️, thank you 🙏

Tips for Enjoying Wine Bars in Logroño

To truly enjoy Logroño like a local, you need to understand the unspoken rules of the "poteo" (the tapas crawl). It is less about getting a table and more about flowing with the crowd. The following insights will help you navigate the crowded streets and maximize your culinary and viticultural experience without looking like a lost tourist.

1. Master the Art of the "Pintxo"
In Logroño, wine is almost never drunk alone. Every glass should be accompanied by a pintxo (a small snack). The most famous is the "champi" (grilled mushrooms) on Laurel Street, but look for bars specializing in zapatillas (grilled pork), or torreznos (crispy pork belly). The pairing is not just tradition; it is essential to keep you grounded during a long night of tasting.

2. Order "Crianza" or "Reserva" by Default
When you ask for "un tinto" (a red), the house pour is usually a young, fruity Joven or a Crianza. While delicious, these are often served cold to be refreshing. If you want to taste the true depth of Rioja, specifically ask for a "Reserva" or "Gran Reserva." The price difference is minimal in Logroño compared to international wine bars, making it the best value in Europe for aged wine.

3. Embrace the Napkin on the Floor
Do not look for a trash can. In the bustling streets of Laurel and San Juan, the custom is to drop your used napkins, toothpicks, and shrimp tails directly onto the floor. It is a sign of a busy, successful bar. If you see a floor covered in debris, you have found a good spot. If the floor is spotless, it likely lacks atmosphere or locals.

4. Navigate the Two Main Streets
Know the difference between the two main hubs. Calle del Laurel is the intense, shoulder-to-shoulder experience where you stand at the bar, eat, drink, and leave within ten minutes. Calle San Juan, running parallel, is slightly wider, a bit more relaxed, and often considered the "gourmet" alternative where you might actually find a place to rest your glass on a barrel.

5. Ask for "El Vino de la Casa"
While most bars have an extensive bottle list, many locals still drink the house wine, often a "cosechero" wine from a local cooperative or specific vineyard. It is poured from unlabeled bottles or traditional porrones. Asking for the house wine is often the cheapest option and gives you a taste of what the locals drink daily, rather than the export-focused labels.

6. Visit During "Pincho Week"
If your travel dates are flexible, check the calendar for "La Semana del Pincho" or the harvest festival (San Mateo) in September. During these times, the city becomes a massive gastronomic competition. It is the ultimate time to visit for wine lovers, as bars pull out their most experimental tapas and rarest wines to impress both judges and the public.

Logroño offers a wine experience that is increasingly rare in the modern world: one that is unpretentious, affordable, and deeply rooted in community. It strips away the intimidation often associated with wine tasting and replaces it with joy. Whether you spend one night on Calle del Laurel or a week exploring the quieter corners of the old town, the memory of these flavors will linger long after you leave.

As you plan your journey through La Rioja, remember that the best approach is simply to wander. Let the aroma of grilling meat and the sound of clinking glasses guide you. In Logroño, every open door is an invitation to taste the history, passion, and terroir of Spain’s most famous wine region.
