10 Best Shopping Streets in Ciutadella de Menorca

Ciutadella de Menorca may be famous for its historic port and ancient stone alleyways, but the city’s true commercial soul beats along its vibrant shopping streets. Unlike the sprawling resorts on the eastern side of the island, Ciutadella offers a refined, authentic retail experience rooted in Menorcan craftsmanship. From family-run leather workshops to contemporary fashion boutiques, the city is a treasure trove for those who prefer quality over quantity.

Shopping here is not a rushed errand; it is a cultural immersion. The narrow lanes invite you to slow down, escape the Mediterranean sun, and browse at a leisurely pace. You will find that many of the best stores are housed in historic aristocratic buildings, adding a layer of architectural beauty to your retail therapy.

The primary shopping district is largely pedestrianized, making it incredibly safe and pleasant for families and solo travelers. You can easily spend an entire afternoon weaving between shoe stores, gourmet food shops, and jewelry ateliers without ever needing a car. The concentration of commerce in the old town means you are never far from a refreshing café or a shaded plaza to rest your feet.

Menorca is globally recognized for its footwear heritage, particularly the traditional avarcas sandals. While these are available throughout the island, Ciutadella is the epicenter of the industry, hosting the factories and flagship stores of the most prestigious brands. Buying a pair here often means you can customize them or access styles not exported to the mainland.

Beyond fashion, the local gastronomy plays a starring role in the shopping scene. Streets are dotted with specialty grocers selling the island’s famous Mahón-Menorca cheese, sobrasada sausage, and locally distilled gin. These make for perfect souvenirs that capture the essence of the island’s culinary landscape.

The atmosphere shifts beautifully from morning to evening. During the day, the streets are bustling with locals running errands and tourists hunting for bargains. As the sun sets, the shop windows glow warmly, inviting you to enjoy a pre-dinner stroll that the Spanish call paseo.

To help you navigate this beautiful maze of commerce, we have curated a list of the most essential shopping streets. These routes offer the best variety, the highest quality of goods, and the most authentic atmosphere that Ciutadella has to offer.

The Ciutadella market is a truly charming place. The streets come alive with stalls full of crafts, clothing, souvenirs, and local products. Strolling through the market is a delightful experience, with a warm and authentic atmosphere. Perfect for finding something special and enjoying the unique charm of the city. Highly recommended if you visit Menorca

It's not bad. This market is held on Mondays in the town hall square. Prices are reasonable for Menorca in general.

Nice, I thought I would find more local artisan products, but only clothing and costume jewelry

A lovely night market in Ciutadella with handmade crafts, jewelry, local art, and a vibrant atmosphere. Perfect for an evening stroll by the port, enjoying live music and supporting local artisans. A must-visit in summer !
Nuria Yaben★★★★★
A charming artisan market in Ciutadella. What we loved most was being able to speak directly with the creators and see truly original, handmade pieces. There's a wide variety of stalls, and the setting is perfect for an evening stroll. A must-visit for those seeking authentic crafts and unique products during their holidays in Menorca. Open Monday to Saturday from 7:00 pm throughout the summer season.
Ani Anillox★★★★★
We enjoyed ourselves a lot as a family.

The artisan market next to the port of Ciutadella adds a lovely atmosphere to the area. They open at 7 pm, when the heat subsides. They have beautiful jewelry and other handcrafted items. The staff isn't very friendly, something I've noticed in Menorca's shops in general. But it's a charming market and well worth a visit and a few purchases.
L B★★★★☆
A very pleasant market selling handcrafted goods. It's located on both streets leading down to the port, and there are some lovely stalls, especially selling jewelry. They also sell towels, some clothing, and offer henna tattoos. It's a lovely area for a stroll. There are also many small shops throughout the town.

After three night at three different restraunts near by and truly amazing food we called in here.. Simple food ..burgers..pizza.poppcorn chicken.chips ECT .. the burger was cold and the meat was full of fat .. they even managed to f#@k up frozen popcorn chicken bites..then robbed us for 40€ for it and didn't even wear a ski mask.. I don't mind paying for food..usually 100+ € a meal each night the other three before..if ur on a budget and don't mind proper sh@te food and a touch of the del trotters the next day give it a whirl
Marta Trzebska★★★★★
Great selection of gifts, toys, miscellaneous items from Menorca. On many items prices lower than elsewhere. Table games, snooker and few other entertainment machines in the courtyard as well as a bouncy castle. Make sure to drop by the shopping bar on the courtyard.
Neil Scholes★★★★★
There is a gift shop here that is typical to rest of the area. There is a small arcade with pool, air hockey, house of dead 3 and time crisis (forget which one). Across from it is a great little pub which does food and shows football and sports.
Rob Stammers★★★★☆
The main shopping and eating complex in Los Delphines, Menorca. Plenty of bars and restaurants, this is next to the Es Replec steak house, where we enjoyed our evening meal.

I love visiting this shop when I’m in Menorca, I’ve been going since I was a teen and now visit with my own children. Desde hace 20 años, es mi tienda favorita en Menorca. ¡Gracias!
Louise Kenny★☆☆☆☆
I’m super disappointed as I visited my family here in Menorca & heard lots of amazing things about the store…I purchase a fabulous green maxi dress, with my family also purchasing some jewellery. BUT I also left another special purchase / gift from my sister in the fitting rooms (some brand new silver leather glitter espadrilles). As soon as I realised, I immediately called & emailed the store - where they confirmed they had them & would keep them safe to return to me. I’ve since heard nothing after being told the manager would call me back to arrange them being sent back to London. Nothing, so so so upset & really disappointed. I need them back ASAP. Lou

I absolutely loved this shop. It has a huge variety of super cute and original things; you always find something special. But without a doubt, the best thing is the service: the saleswoman is incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. It's a pleasure to go to places like this, where, in addition to shopping, you're treated so well.
Eva Urquijo★★★★★
My favorite shop every summer I visit in Ciutadella. The clothes and jewelry are unique and tasteful, unlike anything else these days when all the tourist shops sell the same things. And the quality is excellent; the pieces don't fall apart after a couple of days. I'm still wearing items I've had for years. The staff is friendly and gives great recommendations.
Luna Bizzarri★★★★★
It's a unique and different shop among everything else you can find in Ciutadella. The clothes, decorations, and accessories are all beautiful and authentic—nothing you can buy on any website or from big brands. The women who work there are incredibly friendly and helpful; they've always helped me find things, both for myself and as gifts for my friends.

My favorite store in Menorca! The clothes are beautifully curated with thoughtful and stylish brands. I usually try to do a big shop there each season as it always has such cute things, from dresses, shorts, sweaters to shoes and even earrings! Highly recommend stopping in, especially as it's in such a convenient location.
Carolina★★☆☆☆
the owner is nice and welcoming but it’s pretty much impossible to buy clothes when you’re not allowed to touch them 🙁
Beatriz DEL YELMO DE HARO★☆☆☆☆
The worse most awful customer service in the whole island. First I could not touch the clothes, how am I supposed to see them? Then she told me I could not try a ring. The woman that was in the shop was awful at customer service. I looked at a rail and she told me that they were all on sale, and then when I showed interest on one of the dresses she said that it was the only one that wasn’t discounted. I have never ever felt so bad entering a shop! There must be a case of bias! I am a big girl, I am not from Menorca, I may not have fit the stereotype of person that she wants to sell to! Awful, awful, pretentious bad mannered woman! I felt like the pretty woman scene, big mistake! Big!! Huge!!!

Susana, a wonderful person whom I've had the pleasure of working with for the three years my work has been displayed in her shop, I'm incredibly grateful for her excellent work. I hope to continue collaborating on new projects next year. Warmest regards.

A wonderful shop in the heart of Ciutadella. The owner, Susana, makes the experience perfect. She has a wide variety of clothing and accessories from original, high-quality brands. It's a must-visit whenever I go to Menorca. 100% recommended!

Nice little find just off the main area. Great if you like fish markets. Small but had a great variety of fish. Just opposite are the butchers and a cheese shop too. Someone said later that you could choose your fish and get it cooked there but I missed that.

Love coming to Citudella. And a walk around the market with all the different smells of fish and meats. There's always a good choice and there are several other shops selling various foods and beverages. A number of restaurants also add to the wonderful aroma of this place. There is always a sort of vibe or buzz about the place.

Great place for food, massive variety of food available at a reasonable price

Amazing products and very knowledgeable, tasty attention by Luca. Loved the style of the store and recommend it to anyone looking for that special piece of clothing or accessory.

Everything in this shop is beautiful, very tastefully selected. Definitely visit here if you are after something unique and special. It even smells good!
Micaela Pacelli★☆☆☆☆
We have spent several weeks in Ciutadella and had only lovely, positive experiences with people in the city. Walked into this store and really liked the items but the owners were extremely rude to us. We would have made several purchases but not at the expense of being insulted. There are plenty of other high quality shops in town!
Vanesa Rodríguez★★★★★
A truly special shop that stands out from the crowd. Carefully curated products, fashion, jewelry, and design with impeccable taste. Unique paintings and lamps that could easily be mistaken for floating sculptures by the artist Pablo Dómina. Pure luxury within your reach. If you're visiting Menorca, don't hesitate to stop by.
Maria Sol Dominguez Carnuccio★★★☆☆
A multi-brand boutique with a tasteful selection of clothing, accessories, and shoes. I bought some flip-flops, and when I went to remove the price tag to put them on, I discovered the price was written directly onto the flip-flop in pen. Needless to say, I wouldn't have bought them if I had seen that. They didn't have any other flip-flops in the same size and color to exchange them for, and they refused to give me a refund. I tried on several items (including a dress with a stain on the sleeve that I only noticed after rolling down the sleeves, and another with a defect in the neckline), and rather than buy something that cost €76 more than my original purchase, I ended up buying the flip-flops with the price tag written on them again 😔. If I were to return and buy anything from this store, I would definitely check the items very carefully beforehand.

Tips for Shopping in Ciutadella de Menorca

To make the most of your retail experience in Ciutadella, it helps to understand the local rhythms and customs. While the streets are beautiful to look at, knowing when to go and how to pay can save you time and money. The following advice will ensure you shop like a local rather than a typical tourist, helping you secure the best products at fair prices.

Respect the Siesta Hours
Most independent shops in Ciutadella close between 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Plan your shopping for the morning or early evening. While tourist-oriented stores might remain open, the best local boutiques strictly adhere to this traditional schedule.

Buy Avarcas Directly from the Source
If you are looking for the famous Menorcan sandals, prioritize streets where brands have their flagship stores or workshops. Buying directly from these locations often allows for customization, such as choosing sole colors and leather finishes, often at prices lower than resellers in other countries.

Look for the "Artesania de Menorca" Label
To ensure you are buying authentic local products rather than imported imitations, look for the official certification label. This is particularly important for leather goods, ceramics, and food items. The label guarantees that the item was genuinely produced on the island.

Carry Cash and a Reusable Bag
While most established stores accept credit cards, smaller artisans and market stalls may have minimum spend limits or prefer cash. Additionally, the city is moving towards sustainability, so having a lightweight reusable tote bag is practical for carrying your purchases through the narrow streets.

Venture Off the Main Plazas
The streets directly bordering the main squares often have higher rents, which can translate to higher prices. Do not be afraid to wander into the smaller, connecting lanes. Often, the most authentic workshops and best-value boutiques are tucked away one or two streets back from the main tourist flow.

As you wander through these streets, you will quickly realize that shopping in Ciutadella is about connection. The shopkeepers are often the artisans themselves, proud to explain the history behind their products and the materials they use. This personal interaction transforms a simple transaction into a memorable part of your holiday narrative.

Whether you leave with a hand-stitched leather bag, a wedge of aged cheese, or simply a beautiful ceramic bowl, your purchases will carry the weight of Menorcan tradition. Take your time, enjoy the architecture above the storefronts, and appreciate the slow pace that makes this city so uniquely charming.
