As the Mediterranean sun dips below the historic skyline, Ciutadella de Menorca transforms from a picturesque daytime harbor into a vibrant nocturnal playground. The ancient stone streets, once trodden by medieval merchants, now echo with the clinking of glasses and the murmur of lively conversation. Finding the perfect spot to enjoy a drink here isn’t just about the beverage; it’s about soaking in the authentic Balearic atmosphere that has captivated visitors for generations.
Unlike the bustling mega-clubs of neighboring islands, the nightlife in Menorca’s former capital is refined, intimate, and deeply rooted in local culture. Here, the evening ritual often begins with a leisurely paseo through the winding alleys of the old town before settling into a hidden courtyard or a breezy terrace. Whether you are a connoisseur of fine wines, a craft cocktail enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates a cold beer with a sea view, this city offers a diverse tapestry of nocturnal venues.
The geography of Ciutadella naturally segments the evening experience into distinct zones, each with its own unique charm. The bustling port, lined with bobbing fishing boats and luxury yachts, offers glamour and panoramic views of the bay. In contrast, the labyrinthine interior of the historic center hides intimate "bodegas" and speakeasy-style bars that reward the curious explorer with authentic local flavors and a bohemian ambiance.
Navigating this landscape can be overwhelming for first-time visitors, as the best spots are often unassuming from the outside or tucked away from the main tourist thoroughfares. The local drinking culture here is about pacing yourself, savoring the environment, and often pairing your drink with a small tapa or a plate of local Mahón cheese. Understanding this rhythm is key to unlocking a truly memorable night out.
In this guide, we have curated a selection of venues that stand out not only for their excellent drinks but also for their atmosphere, history, and service. We have prioritized places that offer a genuine sense of place, ensuring you experience the true spirit of Menorca rather than a generic tourist trap. From sunset aperitifs to late-night nightcaps, this list covers the full spectrum of the evening.
We have based our recommendations on consistent quality, local reputation, and the unique sensory experiences they provide. Whether you are seeking a romantic hideaway for a date night or a lively terrace to gather with friends, there is a corner of Ciutadella waiting to welcome you. Prepare to discover spaces where history meets mixology and where every pour tells a story.
Below is our handpicked selection of the best evening bars that capture the essence of this magical city after dark.

Great place for Spanish omelette, drink, coffee and sandwiches. Food was good and the service was quick. Great location and lovely interior. Sitting outside and inside, as well as back garden. Spanish omelette with vegetables was amazing! Spanish potato omelette has a bit too much egg and not enough potato for my liking but still was good.

Saved us on a few occasions when everywhere else was closed for siesta. Great sandwiches and drinks!
Jeremie Bernard★★★★★
Everything an institution should be. Super efficient service with smiles and speed. Small menu with traditional sandwiches on white or black bread, made with local fresh ingredients, and inexpensive. Try fig and cheese! Great coffee too.

Truly an amazing spot for breakfast and coffee! Great coffee and the sobrassada sandwiches are delicious. The service is quick and very friendly

My first proper tapas experience. Super friendly waiter. Cheap pint of beer at €4 and great selection of tapas.

We enjoyed an early dinner on a Thursday night. The setting is very relaxed and green outdoors. The menu is not large meaning everything is done well & reasonably priced. All the dishes we had were very tasty and well balanced. I’d highly recommend a visit

Cute little spot in the middle of ciutadella. You don’t aspect such a big garden when you are walking outside.
We order 2 vegetarian burguers and they exchanged one side of potatoes for patatas bravas for us.
The burguer was ok but the atmosphere was amazing. I recommend if you are trying to change from Spanish food for one night.
Gaetan Payot★☆☆☆☆
Waste of money. No cocktails on the day we went (their speciality). Ordered chicken tacos, coming by 2, no more than 5g of some sort of chicken crumbs per taco. Basically nothing. The bravas didnt taste good either. While the atmosphere is great, I ll never be back.
Tereza Šafaříková★★★★★
Beautiful garden and even better cocktails 🥰
THuRStoN★★★★☆
A surprising place because from the alley where you enter you can't imagine finding yourself in a quiet and spacious garden where you can have a drink. However, after 7 pm beware of mosquitoes. We found the place almost empty and service was fast and attentive.

Friendly staff and tasty food. Nice atmosphere.

The bar des cas casino nou is set in a historical building that was built circa in the 1870 s & it retains most of its antique architecture & features that have been either sympathetically restored or left as is & it all adds to a very relaxing & tranquil atmosphere . The venue also has a theatre room inside that has a beautiful antique balcony & ornate plaster mouldings that are in amazing condition for their age .This I'm sure would be a great venue to visit when they have an entertainment program . The bar area is spacious & clean & the marble floor keeps the room cool , especially in the summer months . The bar & tapas selection is quite good & the prices are modest with service to your table included . The service is brisk & the staff are most polite & friendly & upon my visit I was offered an English or Spanish version of the menu , which also may be a help to some non Spanish customers . The bars music policy upon my visit was Latin lounge jazz played at an ambient level of volume & it all adds to the relaxing vibe of the venue . This bar I suggest is well worth a visit for those who enjoy a bit of culture & for those who may want a more sedate eating & drinking experience in classic antique surroundings , & would be the perfect venue for a romantic day or evening date with that someone special in your life . So if you appreciate antique surroundings , good food & drinks with good service @ sensible cost , then maybe this could be your next place visit .

This is the most traditional meeting point for locals. Very friendly, always busy, fair prices, events, good fresh food and nice drinks. Inside the place got a great atmosphere due to all original features. In the back is a concert place and upstairs you find offers for dance classes. Amazing how they organise all for support as members. We all should become part of it!

We came here 4 times in 3 days. Very nice relaxed environment, delicious food and friendly staff. Plus air conditioned! Try albondigas, Russian salad and the patatas picadonas.
Jamie Rhodes★★★★★
Popped in for a pastry and a coffee. Great local feel, traditional decor and good coffee/traditional pastry.

Good Spot for a Casual Drink and Live Sports
If you are looking for a reliable place to grab a drink and catch up on live sports while in the Los Delfines area, Sixty One Irish Pub is a solid choice. Located right on the main avenue, it is a convenient and easy-to-find spot that offers exactly what you would expect from a classic holiday Irish pub. It has a relaxed, unpretentious vibe that makes it a decent place to unwind after a day out.
The atmosphere in the evenings is usually quite lively, especially if there is a big football match or a rugby game on the screens. They have plenty of TVs set up, so you can easily get a good view of the action from most areas of the pub. When the sports aren't on, they often have music playing or local entertainment, which gives the place a steady, pleasant buzz without being completely overwhelming.
It is a very straightforward, accommodating venue. The layout is family-friendly, meaning you will feel comfortable bringing the kids along for a daytime drink or an early evening visit. Additionally, the space is accessible and wheelchair-friendly, with enough room to maneuver comfortably, which is always good to see.
The service here is perfectly fine. The bar staff are efficient, get the drinks out reasonably quickly, and are generally pleasant to deal with even when the place gets a bit busier during peak holiday hours. They offer a standard selection of beers, ciders, and spirits at fair prices for the location. Overall, it is a dependable, friendly neighborhood pub that does the basics well and serves as a good hub for a casual evening out.
Bethany Gore★★★★★
I would fully recommend this bar, the karaoke was so much fun, they play live sports, have good on draught beer and cider… and the best thing is that the staff are all so welcoming, friendly and fun! I will miss this bar upon returning home!
paul heron★★★★★
Great place for a drink. Staff are very friendly. Plenty of drunk choices. Karaoke on every night but no obligation to go up, always a laugh. Gave 3 stars for food as it's more of a boozer than anything else. Although, they do have a couple of pie options. I got a steak and Guinness pie on my last visit for €7.50 and it was amazing, full of steak and gravy and only took 10 mins to come out. The gents behind the bar here are fantastic and we pop in a few times every year we visit the area to catch up and have a few laughs. Great place to end a night and the put up bouncy castles for the kids and there are games and machines for them to use also. Pool table etc
Hayley Gerbil★★★★★
Went here a few times on our holiday as it was so much fun! We stumbled upon it on our first day and went in just as a rest stop, and returned on several separate occasions, including to watch the first euros match. The staff are so friendly and upbeat, there was a karaoke night and the staff all had a go singing. I'm excited to return to Menorca just so I can go back here! 🙂

We found Watson by accident, on one of our 'annual' visits to the excellent Moriarty. The waiter mentioned a speakeasy, tucked through an unassuming door in Moriarty's garden. So after dinner we managed to get in (it's not straightforward - pass codes and sliding shelves!) What a great place!! Cool in all senses of the word, dimly lit, and excellent cocktails prepared by a very professional mixologist. It was a great end to an excellent evening. Just one question - where is Holmes?
Alexandra Petrov★★★★★
Nice cocktails and a sweet atmosphere. What makes it special is speakeasy, you actually need to hunt for it, which makes the experience even more exciting.
Such a fun place to discover !
Robert de Picciotto★★★★★
Outstanding legit speakeasy and nice staff and real drinks
Alejandra Añez★★★★★
You must come to this cocktail bar. The best in the island!!!

Great cocktails, beautiful space. We loved that it’s more of a genuine speakeasy in that you really have to find it - it was fun to finally discover it 🙂

What a spot! Fantastic tapas, a great atmosphere, and genuinely lovely service from start to finish.
Make sure you order the calamari it’s absolutely the best I’ve ever had, and that’s saying something because I’m a huge seafood lover! Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully prepared.
If you’re looking for a place with amazing food, great vibes, and friendly staff, don’t miss out on this gem. Highly recommended!

My foodie journey in Menorca started here — and honestly, I couldn’t have made a better choice. The service was spot on, the food quality and prices totally fair. Highly recommend trying the croquettes and the fritters — absolutely worth it!

Refreshing aperitifs and lively, friendly service. The food was a real treat, classic flavours done right, with just enough of a twist to keep things interesting. Everything felt well-balanced and carefully put together. Definitely worth a visit.

Definitely one of the best places to eat in Ciutadella, the dishes are original and very rich. The staff is very charming and attentive and the prices are alligned to the quality of what is served. I totally recommend it!

We found this little bar/cafe on our first night and became our favourite place to go for a coffee. On the beach with a lovely vibe. The owner got to know our order so well I didnt have to ask. The coffee was absolutely delicious. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

I enjoyed the terrace at this bar - we only went once later at night after dinner to grab a gin & tonic and combat the heat and humidity. The bar had a really nice atmosphere, overlooking part of the port and river. It wasn't overly loud, and the music was pleasant. Overall it was a great experience to sit down with some friends for some conversation and drinks.
Omar Gader★★★★★
Amazing place , the staff were very polite and nice to us , especially Miraya(Mirella)I don’t really remember the name 😂XD, we’ve been served almost immediately after the entrance.
I really recommend this place if you looking for some nice drinks with beautiful view, or some dancing time downstairs in the dance floor
Павел Лалетин★☆☆☆☆
We visited this establishment for the first time. Our impressions were extremely negative, and here's why.
We arrived at 10:30 PM and sat on the terrace, attempting to place an order. Hookah — unavailable. Cocktails — unavailable. Sangria — unavailable. Why are these items on the menu at all?
The disco was supposed to open at 11:00 PM — we were only let in at 11:30 PM. No explanation, no apology.
The entry ticket included a drink. Trying to claim it turned into a farce. The disco bar staff said they don't make cocktails and sent us upstairs — upstairs sent us back down. Moscow Mule, Long Island Iced Tea, Daiquiri — the staff didn't recognize any of these. These are standard cocktails found in any bar. Only one staff member speaks English, and poorly at that. While we were waiting to be served, no one approached us.
The condition of the restroom was unacceptable: one tap doesn't work, the other has to be held by hand, and there is no latch on the cubicle door.
The only thing we managed to order was a Gin & Tonic. The tonic was opened with what was clearly a dirty tool, and the bottle neck was filthy.
Throughout the entire evening, not once did any staff member apologize. The service, staff competence, and sanitary condition of this establishment meet no acceptable standards whatsoever. We do not recommend it.
Léo Silva★☆☆☆☆
I literally can't think of any possible way of giving this place more than 1 star. The drink was terrible (everyone's, not just mine) and the service was rude. We left with our drink unfinished.
Kyre oldihsuk★★★★☆
nice place to party and drink. The staff was very cool and friendly, drinks were not as good as in the others nightclubs around.

Be Wise★★★★★
Architecturally pleasing restaurant in Ciutadella old town. The atmosphere is great and takes you back to a typical English club. The food is fantastic (traditional dishes along with Asian influences) but the real highlight is the cocktails, truly exceptional. The service may be slow throughout the evening but it doesn’t detract from what is a great overall experience.
Super recommended. Reservations are a must given the number of tables and how popular the place is during holiday periods.
Lidia Eslava★★★★★
Beautiful restaurant gem in Ciutadella. The food was delicious. Everything was Spanish food inspired but with a twist. We had the Sobrasada Cheesecake desert and it was definitely something you don’t try every day.
The only downfall is that there is a lot of tourists. You can tell it is a more modern restaurant targeting a specific audience of a luxurious experience in the city. Regardless, everything was really nice. Quality/Price made sense for the dinner. Staff were super friendly and detail orientated!
M Jo★★★★★
Excellent food. We tried the pumpkin soup, seafood rice and pancotta. This is the second menu del día that we tried in Ciutadella and for a few euros more this was far superior in quality. Great service and beautiful restaurant.
Joaquin Ablatico★★★☆☆
The place itself is stunning, but unfortunately the food and service didn’t live up to the setting. Prices are very high for what you get, and most of the dishes were just average. The highlights were the crudo (a ceviche-style dish) and the “flor de calabacín,” which were genuinely good.
The rest—croquetas, vieiras, gyozas, and the brioche—were underwhelming. Paying €18 for two scallops or €3.50 for a croqueta that isn’t even memorable feels excessive.
Service was also disappointing. Our order was taken wrong multiple times, we had to wait 40 minutes for the crudo, and only got it after asking several times.
Beautiful place, but sadly not an experience I’d repeat.
Valentina Benaglio★★★★★
A gorgeous gem in plain sight. Insanely great food, gorgeous ambience, and supper attentive staff. Don’t think twice!
Essential Tips for Enjoying Ciutadella’s Nightlife
To ensure you blend in seamlessly with the local crowd and maximize your enjoyment, it is helpful to understand a few unwritten rules of the Menorcan evening. The pace of life here is slower and more deliberate; rushing through your drinks or expecting a high-energy party atmosphere early in the night will likely lead to disappointment. Instead, embrace the art of the "copa" and the conversation that accompanies it, allowing the night to unfold naturally just as the locals do.
- Time Your Arrival Strategically: The magic hour in Ciutadella is just before sunset. Arrive at a port-side bar between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM to secure a prime seat for the sunset, but be aware that many locals don’t start their evening until 10:30 PM or later. If you prefer a quieter drink, go early; if you want the buzz, head out late.
- Embrace the Local Aperitif: While gin and tonics are wildly popular throughout the Balearics, Menorca has a distinct tradition of Pomada (local gin mixed with lemonade). This refreshing, slightly sweet drink is the authentic taste of Menorcan summer festivals and is a must-try for any visitor looking to drink like a local.
- Dress Smart-Casual: While Ciutadella is a relaxed beach destination, the evening crowd tends to elevate their style slightly, especially in the old town and port areas. Leave the flip-flops and wet swimwear at the hotel; opt for smart sandals, linen shirts, or sundresses to fit in seamlessly with the sophisticated yet effortless Mediterranean aesthetic.
- Look Beyond the Menu: Many of the best bars in the historic center operate as "bodegas" or wine bars where the selection rotates frequently. Don’t be afraid to ask the bartender for a recommendation based on your taste preferences. They often have exclusive local wines from Binissalem or small-batch gins that aren’t listed on the main menu.
- Cash is Still King: While most modern cocktail bars accept credit cards, some of the older, more traditional bodegas and hole-in-the-wall establishments in the old town may have a minimum card spend or operate on a cash-only basis. Withdrawing a small amount of cash before heading out will save you from scrambling for an ATM in the narrow stone streets.
As the night winds down and the last glasses are cleared away, you will find that the memory of a Ciutadella evening lingers long after the taste of the gin has faded. The city offers a rare blend of historical grandeur and laid-back island energy, creating a drinking culture that feels both timeless and effortlessly cool. It is a place where you can lose track of time in a candlelit plaza or feel the sea breeze on your face while listening to the gentle lapping of water against the harbor walls.
Choosing to spend your evening in Ciutadella de Menorca is choosing to prioritize atmosphere over noise and connection over chaos. Whether you found your new favorite cocktail at a chic rooftop or discovered the simple pleasure of a local wine in a centuries-old cellar, the experience is designed to be savored. As you walk back through the moonlit streets, you will likely already be planning your return to this enchanting corner of the Balearic Islands.
