Segovia is a city that rewards slow travel. Beyond the astonishing Roman aqueduct and the fairy-tale Alcázar, there is a quieter rhythm found in its narrow medieval streets and sun-drenched plazas. For many visitors, that rhythm is best discovered with a coffee in hand.
The local café scene has evolved beautifully in recent years. While traditional bars still serve strong espresso alongside sugary churros, a new wave of specialty coffee shops has brought lighter roasts and modern brewing methods to the old town. This blend of old and new makes Segovia a surprisingly exciting destination for coffee lovers.
Whether you are looking for a quick breakfast before visiting the Cathedral or a quiet corner to work remotely, the city offers a diverse range of options. You can sip a flat white in a minimalist space or enjoy a café con leche under ancient wooden beams.
The best cafés in Segovia are not just about the caffeine; they are about the atmosphere. Many are tucked away on cobblestone lanes that tour buses never reach. Finding them feels like uncovering a local secret.
From artisan bakeries that double as coffee bars to specialty roasters pushing the boundaries of Spanish coffee culture, there is something for every taste. The common thread is a commitment to quality and hospitality.
In this guide, we have curated a selection of the best places to enjoy coffee in this UNESCO World Heritage city. We have considered bean quality, location, atmosphere, and the overall experience to help you find your perfect cup.
Here is our selection of the best cafés in Segovia to visit right now.

Cafeteria Paloma’s was the first brunch I had gone out once I started to live in Segovia
It’s honestly the best and most consistent brunch in the area. Be advised the seating is not for an army but for a couple of friends of 2-4 peoples.
I’d say you should try everything on the menu if you had the chance, however, I didn’t so here are my recommendations!
1. Hot chocolate
2. Avocado toastie
3. Focaccia (from 12pm and onwards)
Everything else is quite great but try to hit these first if you’re in a crunch
Please support them by also going to Paloma’s Plaza or Plaza Paloma ( bagels and quick eats )

I can't recommend Paloma's enough! The owners are incredibly friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as you can feel the love they put into everything they prepare. The cozy interior adds to the charm, making it a perfect spot for coffee or brunch with friends. The ever-changing menu ensures a delightful experience, and the food is both beautifully presented and delicious. Don't forget to grab some of their amazing cookies and cakes on your way out! A must-visit in the heart of Segovia!

Discovered this place off the beaten track in Segovia. The place is small and with really curated menu. We had the spinach soup and focaccia sandwich and they are both good! Hearty and really good place to have a quick bite before heading to the chaos of Segovia.

Found the cutest cafe in Segovia! Loved the vintage interior vibes and the cakes were incredible. If you’re parking nearby, this is the perfect spot for a Flat White and a sweet treat.

The best selection of coffee and cakes I’ve found in Segovia !
A fantastic selection of international coffee and a local blend to try too. We often take it home freshly ground with sugar-free cookies for our 3 year old son.
Get here early to try tortilla de patata and fresh bread.
If you’re looking for something sweet the classic cheesecake is a winner and the Tarta De Santiago is another favorite of mine.
Great friendly and helpful service with a warm, comfortable atmosphere.
A definite must-try for visitors of Segovia and coffee-lovers !

We were searching for a sweet afternoon snack and came across this establishment. Many different cakes on display- staff recommended marble cake, which tasted average. Location was bustling, and several men (guests) gave us some unfriendly stares during our dine-in visit.

Splendid lunch after a long day of travel was had, two foccacias with bacon, cinnamon twirl and mini croissant with pistachios. Just what was needed. Very pleasant service and reasonable prices, would recommend.

Great breakfast experience - both my flat white and fresh orange juice were perfect. The eggs benedict toast was very good as were the toasted croissants. It was all good value, and great to be able to relax outside with a view of the aqueduct. I hear they've just opened - I'm sure it will be a great success.

The perfect place to start your day in Segovia. It's a very popular cafe, a lot of young people, so you have to wait in the morning. Is it worth it? Oh yes. The sandwiches are big and filling. You can feel that the ingredients are of high quality. Very good coffee, both milk and filtered. It's good news that even in small towns like Segovia you can drink specialty coffee. There were fewer people in the afternoon and it was the perfect time for another coffee and cheesecake (also delicious). The service was very nice, helpful and always smiling. Great cafe.
Thaïs★★★★☆
VERY good food (especially considering the places available in Segovia, my go to of all time!) I have tried all their toasts and they are a good size, could have more variations and mixtures, feels a bit repetitive but I love the toasts (but if you are very hungry you might need more, maybe a sweet treat…) I would recommend the tarta de queso, the carrot cake, and banana bread. For the toasts, the Nordic is amazing by if you like smoked salmon, the iberic is great and pastrami is good (yet smaller then toasts - try asking for truffle oil instead of the mustard).
Coffee is ok, could be cheaper. Matcha does not taste amazing (would suggest making a coconut matcha variation, it does very well in other places and would succeed here to).
Feedback to restaurant: The avocado toast decreased in taste when you changed to a whipped avocado paste, although a smashed avocado looks less pleasing it is definitely more delightful. On the salmon toast, the placement could be improved, I always need to undo the decor to spread the avocado pieces on the whole bread.
IMPORTANT! I would recommend taking out the paper underneath the bread, you end up eating the paper as you cut the hard bread.

I highly recommend this place for a peaceful and relaxing break. The café is cosy and comfortable, but what I appreciated the most was the staff. The two girls were always smiling, kind, helpful and welcoming. They created a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere while keeping the café clean and tidy. I also had a delicious tostada and an excellent espresso. Highly recommended!

Hidden gem near the Roman aqueducts! Worth the little walk down. Best coffee for me while we were in Segovia!
The barista working that day was awesome, we talked coffee and he suggested his favorite roast for the espresso which turned out to be a geisha! Rarely do I see coffee shops using geisha for espresso and it was absolutely divine. The ginger lemonade was also superb.

Putting aside the delightfully tranquil location beside a cobbled side street on the slopes of the walled city and the gorgeous, friendly staff, this place has got to make one of the best coffees in all of Europe. Beautiful coffee with choice of beans and the tastiest cakes. Love love love.

Off the beaten path, but not by much. Definitely HAS to be tried, as the sandwiches are the absolute BEST I've tried. Get the Italian, the potato chips on it, put it over the top. The french fries are so good, we got an additional order to go.

Relaxing coffee with a great view
Stopped by in the afternoon and had a great experience. Ordering was quick and easy, and we found outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the Aqueduct of Segovia.
It wasn’t very crowded, which made it even more enjoyable. Such a relaxing spot to sit, have a coffee, and take in the scenery.

We ordered two coffees and churros with chocolate. How hard can that be? Not only did they fail to bring out food out, but when we went inside to inquire, they told us our food had been delivered! We showed our receipt and they were still rude. Order was delivered incorrectly. Would not recommend.

A very cosy lovely place done up. Good churros . Outdoor and basement seating available. Good music . Just in the centre located is this place before you start your journey to the Cathedral and Alcazar.

Fantastic little place right near the aquaduct, featuring churros, sweet treats, amazing croissants, and tortilla espanol. Their coffees are great and as well as an outdoor seating area of the plaza there is a downstairs section. Friendly polite staff and good prices
Ksmor★★★★☆
They had decaf coffee available, which I really appreciated since I was pregnant — it was a rare treat to find a non-caffeinated drink other than water.
Also, being able to rest in the shade on a hot summer afternoon while enjoying a view of the aqueduct from seat was truly a blessing.

It's okay. A quiet place to grab a bite while you wait for the movie next door. Prices are a bit high for a neighborhood, but that's to be expected these days. They also have a decent selection of sweets. Overall, it's fine.

It's a café next to the cinemas. It's great for coffee, tea, ice cream, juice... It's quiet and pleasant, and the service is good. Everything we've tried has been good, and they're helpful if you have any questions. Good value for money.

The staff leaves much to be desired; one of the waitresses with glasses and red streaks in her hair was quite rude, had a sour face, and was very unpleasant. It's a shame because everything is quite good and the place is comfortable.

Ideal spot for a good coffee or a hearty breakfast at an affordable price, or if you prefer, a beer with a tasty hot snack. Conveniently located next to the cinema, sports hall, and gym. Good quality products and excellent service. They also offer a variety of sandwiches, burgers, toast, and salads at reasonable prices.
Tips for Enjoying Cafés in Segovia
Navigating the café culture in a historic city like Segovia can be slightly different from what you might expect in larger metropolitan areas. To help you make the most of your coffee journey, here are a few practical insights that will enhance your experience and help you blend in with the locals.
Know the difference between "barra" and "mesa." In many traditional Spanish cafés, prices change depending on where you consume your coffee. Standing at the bar (barra) is often significantly cheaper than sitting at a table (mesa) or on the terrace (terraza). If you are on a budget or in a hurry, do as the locals do and drink your espresso standing up.
Mind the local schedule. Segovia is not a city that wakes up at 6 a.m. for artisanal pour-overs. Most specialty cafés open between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., while traditional bars may open earlier for breakfast. Plan your morning accordingly, especially if you want to beat the tourist rush at the Aqueduct.
Don’t skip the "tostada con tomate." While the coffee is the star, the food pairings in Segovia are exceptional. The classic Spanish breakfast of toasted bread rubbed with fresh tomato and olive oil is a perfect companion to a strong café con leche. Many of the best cafés bake their own bread or source it from local panaderías.
Ask for the "café de especialidad." If you are in a traditional bar but craving a higher-quality cup, ask if they have specialty coffee. While not every establishment will, many of the newer spots proudly display their bean origins and roast dates. Don’t be shy about asking the barista for recommendations based on your taste preferences.
Cash is still useful. Although contactless payments are widely accepted in Spain, some of the smaller, family-run cafés in the old town may have minimum card spend limits or prefer cash for a simple coffee. Keeping a few euros in your pocket ensures you won’t miss out on a charming spot due to a technicality.
Segovia is a city that invites you to pause. Whether you are resting your feet after climbing the tower of the Cathedral or warming up on a chilly winter morning, the local cafés offer a warm welcome.
Take your time, savor the atmosphere, and don’t be afraid to explore a side street that catches your eye. Often, the most memorable coffee in Segovia is found in the place you least expected.
