Nestled in the heart of Alsace, Colmar is a fairy-tale town known for its half-timbered houses, winding canals, and world-class wines. Yet beyond the picturesque scenery lies a vibrant culinary scene that deserves equal attention. While Alsatian classics like choucroute and tarte flambée dominate many menus, seafood lovers will find plenty to celebrate in this landlocked gem.
Thanks to modern supply chains and a deep-rooted French appreciation for fresh fish, Colmar’s restaurants serve everything from briny oysters to delicate sole meunière. The city’s proximity to both the Rhine and major European markets means daily deliveries of high-quality seafood are the norm, not the exception. Whether you are craving a plateau de fruits de mer or a simple grilled sea bass, Colmar delivers.
Many of the town’s best seafood establishments blend traditional Alsatian hospitality with Mediterranean and Atlantic influences. You will find cozy winstubs serving fish alongside Riesling, as well as upscale brasseries where lobster and turbot take center stage. This diversity makes Colmar a surprisingly rewarding destination for pescatarians and seafood enthusiasts.
When choosing where to dine, consider the season. Autumn and winter bring hearty fish stews and baked scallops, while spring and summer highlight lighter preparations with local asparagus and herbs. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends and during the famous Christmas markets, when the city fills with visitors from around the world.
Price points vary widely, from casual spots offering fish and chips to Michelin-starred tables with elaborate tasting menus. Most restaurants display their menus outside, allowing you to compare offerings before committing. Look for daily specials, which often feature the freshest catch and best value.
Below, we have curated a list of the best seafood restaurants in Colmar, each selected for its quality, consistency, and dedication to honoring the ocean’s bounty. Whether you are a local or a traveler, these addresses promise memorable meals in one of France’s most enchanting towns.

Omg this seafood restaurant is awesome! The scallops and mussels were mind blowing. Highly recommend

Great service, warm ambience, and excellent food! The calfs head and tartar were to die for, and so was the ceviche and mussels. The waitress speaks German, too, and was very patient explaining the menu. Would definitely recommend this place.

Nice restaurant where you can order seafood. The woman who served us was incredibly polite. Fresh oysters, excellent hot fish and shrimp, meringue and coffee. The bill for two was 103 euros including a glass of champagne, coffee, non-alcoholic beer and water. I would like to note the incredible cleanliness of the restaurant as a whole and the toilet separately.

Lovely place. Reasonably priced overnight parking. Electric hook up and showers included in price. Would recommend for motorhome as close to town. Lovely restaurant just out of aire. Turn left then at main road you can see it on the left hand corner opposite. Food very good.

Love the Moules Frites, Belgian beer and Gaufré! We lived in Belgium for many years and went to the original Leon in Bruxelles often. A great find on our Alsace weekend trip 😍
Hakeem Banks★★★★★
Ordered the traditional Moules Frites, was surprised to have it delivered in such a nice quality disposable pot. As you can see, the moules were very meaty. They did not skimp on the broth and there was plenty of celery and green onion throughout. Though the fries appear to come in a small portion, the contain is actually quite deep. Order arrived quick and everything in the pot was piping hot, even though my delivery guy had a couple of stops before me. Overall, I recommend!

Poor food, full of oil and dirty plates... Never go... Shame...
They told it is normal 🙄

Awesome seafood dining experience. Amazing food and great service, the staff are super kind, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for couples, friends, and families. You need a reservation for the weekend.

Myself and my husband were only visiting Colmar for a weekend and decided to have dinner here one night and we both definitely enjoyed it. It tends to get booked up really fast and is super busy so make sure you make reservations. If waitress was great at attending to us and we didn't really have to wait long to get our food. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely visit again whenever we're in the area again.

A restaurant experience I will remember for years!
My husband and I celebrated our 8-year anniversary at this restaurant. Start to finish, everything was simply incredible.
The flavors and dishes were incredibly creative--and each plate was a culinary experience of the highest caliber that delighted the senses.
Never before have I had cod with a savory, umami-packed sauce with morel mushrooms. It was a complete surprise but Chef Lucas pulled the unlikely ingredients together flawlessly for an unforgettable experience.
The pigeon with lardons and cabbage was also simply amazing and the dessert was a decadent delight of strawberry and pistachio flavours.
I must note that it is usually difficult to have a real gastronomic experience with food allergies and food sensitivities, especially with my intolerance to eggs and gluten, and yet Chef Lucas was able to adapt each dish expertly.
And of course, I cannot end this review without mentioning the warm and generous welcome and service that we received. Everyone was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to make our last night in Colmar and our anniversary extra special.
Thank you to the entire team at Lucas & Chris! We will recommend your restaurant to everyone we know and we will surely be back the next time we're in Colmar.

We visited the restaurant for lunch with a reservation. We chose it because we had seen bone marrow on the menu on Google Maps. Although it was not listed on the restaurant’s menu, we asked about it and it was prepared for us.
Even though the waitress spoke French and we spoke English, communication was smooth and clear. The food was very tasty, and the wine and water were served promptly. We especially appreciated the friendly and welcoming service.

We visited Lucas & Chris expecting a refined dining experience. The presentation was pleasant, the ingredients seemed to be of very good quality, and we appreciated the effort and friendliness of the team. However, some dishes lacked depth of flavor, and the overall experience did not fully match the restaurant’s positioning. The octopus was rubbery, and when ordering the beef, we were not asked for our preferred level of doneness. Service was courteous, though somewhat slow.We believe the restaurant has strong potential, and with a few improvements in execution, the dining experience could be better✨

We had dinner here last Thursday for my birthday while staying in Colmar. It was by far the best dinner I’ve ever had. The food, presentation, service, and atmosphere were far above and beyond our expectations! To top it off they brought us champagne to toast at the end!

Best Sauce Bernaise ever eaten. Very good Entrecote, but even better vegetables and fries. Massive list of wines. Tasty local beer and reasonably expensive Cremant. We loved it. Very limited amount of veggie options though. Would recommend to add a main dish with the great vegetables and maybe some good cheese or the local mushrooms? Nevertheless, great find, thank you!
Ayse Dinçer★★★★★
Our best dinner in Colmar vacation. The foods were amazing. The sauces of the dishes were very delicious. For kids there is also a small beef steak plate which my son loved it. They served two types of bread and tap water free. The cheese plate could be served better. And unfortunately, we didn't like the desert. Maybe originally it is suppose be like that but it came to us a bit tasteless. But still I advise the restaurant insistently 😊
Marco U.★★☆☆☆
The food is really good—everything we had was tasty and well made. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t great. The staff felt quite rude, especially the woman at the entrance. When we asked for something simple, like a small change to a dish or even just the menu, she reacted as if it was a huge request. It made the experience less enjoyable, which is a shame because the food deserves better service.
Lia Niadas★★★★★
I liked the option of ordering a dish either as an appetizer or as a main dish (two portion sizes) I ordered scallops as a starter and gruvlax as a main dish. Both were delicious and refined. The restaurant offered a wide selection of wines and the ambiance was warm and inviting.

Lovely restaurant in a quiet street
Amazing wine list covering all French régions..
Food was extremely good
High end pork with tasty French fries …both very well cooked
Tried a high end local Riesling .
Booking for dinner seems a good idea as the place is rather small , and was busy around 8.30PM
Good place for a romantic dinner also
Highly recommended

This was my second time visiting this restaurant having dined at their previous site a number of years ago. Returning did not disappoint. The food continues to be excellent. Incredibly fresh ingredients and dishes that burst with finesse and flavour without being fussy. The tasting menu and wine pairing is fantastic value for money. Perhaps the lighting in the dining room could be lower to create more atmosphere in the evening -small note.
Best restaurant in Colmar. Delicious.
Steph Roth★★★★★
Excellent food, wine, and service, with laughter emanating from the kitchen. What more can you ask for? Our fois gras entree and veal sweetbreads main were original, perfectly portioned, and delicious. The reasonably-priced pinot gris grand cru was a well paired with the meal. Lovely dessert, too.
androgynbeauty★★★★☆
The restaurant has a modern vibe and design, the food is ok, platting is nice, the service is fine (one of our waiters was nice a professional, the other was a bit grumpy and less professional), the sitting is more or less ok. Not really impressed by this place, especially as I went with great expectations.
Eric D★★★★☆
I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Quai 21 in Colmar, Alsace, France.
A pleasant restaurant nicely located along the river, close to the Ferris wheel and the Christmas market area.
The restaurant is situated on the pier, near the Grande Roue, in an area that is usually very lively during the Christmas market season. Inside, the décor is modern and well kept, with two separate dining rooms, which helps create a comfortable setting for dinner.
The cuisine is carefully prepared, though not particularly outstanding. We especially enjoyed the main courses, both fish-based: wild barbel and Arctic char. Both dishes were flavorful, well cooked, and enjoyable, even if they did not leave a lasting impression.
Service was very friendly and efficient.
Overall, a solid option in a very attractive location — suitable for a pleasant meal while enjoying the surroundings, without expecting a truly memorable culinary experience.

If visiting colmar, this place is a must. Plenty of food for each meal, but quality on point too. The atmosphere outside is very cool by terrace. Seems a nice place for winter too. Very well attended by the waiters. We were very impressed by the restaurant and definitely would come back if I visit colmar again.

Located in the center of historic Colmar. Three level building with seatings at 3 levels. It was early April when we came so outside was not available. Outside seating would be lovely.
Food was ok. We ordered 4 mains. 3 were meh but the pork knuckle was really good with the honey sauce.
Service was professional. We came at a busy time and it was clear that there was only one server helping the entire floor. But we enjoyed sitting in this historical building and looking out of the window while we waited.
Joyce Yong★★★★★
Really appreciate the restaurant staff’s approachable and service-oriented attitude.
Place was packed yet the staff was welcoming and prompt to find a table for our group. Willing to explain the menu offerings. Food quality and portions are good. Loved the atmosphere and even the washrooms are clean and with nice decor. Diners of different age group. Pet friendly. Highly recommended.

Visited on a Sunday around 8pm.
It was off‑peak season, but the inside was still very busy - luckily I managed to get an outdoor table. The food was great - the Flammekueche was delicious, and the salmon was thick, fresh, and full of flavour.

I will give 5 star review on food , but unfortunately we find piece of sharp plastic in our desert, waitress did remove from check this order, all other food was great, service itself and waitress all perfect, at the end I will recommend this restaurant, definitely will come again.

Brad Jones★★★★☆
For a Michelin mention restaurant, the food is worthy, but the service misses the mark.
We went for the 4-course 78 Euro tasting menu and all the food was delicious and well presented.
Sitting right along the canal, the scenery couldn’t be more romantic.
But service was incredibly indifferent. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, just very brief and in-engaging. Like they were just going through the motions. Several times I made some light-hearted comments or complimented something, but they only had one word answers. Where’s the engagement? We were hoping for pleasant conversation with the waitress or sommelier, but it was not happening. Perhaps because we spoke English (from Canada)? Not sure.
Regardless, take it for what it is. Great food, great atmosphere, but all serious, no fun.
Joseph Arthur★★★☆☆
A confounding experience for a restaurant of such renoun. The meal itself was quite wonderful, which single-handedly saved the experience.
My tomato and raspberry entrée was light, refreshing, and an appropriate prelude to the main. The risotto was one of the best I've had in any restaurant; a thoughtful balance of unciousness, salt, and heat from the spiced oil.
Dessert was also delicious, a chocolate mousse, adorned with fresh raspberries, pistachio cakes, gelato, and slivers of ganache. A lovely cap on the meal.
The hostess and servers were polite, no complaints. Our waiter however, not only made no hospitable effort, but also made small condescending remarks during our stay, that made us feel unwelcome and awkward. Interactions were stiff, no effort was made on her part to parse our enjoyment of the experience, and attempts to engage with her in a cordial sense were met with a blunt flatness. Interestingly, she seemed quite polite and engauged with the other guests. I've never experienced this in a restaurant of this calaber, especially considering the rest of our staff in Alsace have been warm and affable. Tant Pis!
Tracey★★★★★
We had a wonderful dinner here. Geraldine and her front of house staff were lovely and attentive throughout the meal. She gave us a superb recommendation of wine to have with our main course. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal. Presentation, taste and pacing was spot on. We’d highly recommend dining here for a memorable dinner in Colmar.
androgynbeauty★★★★★
It's a top level restaurant in Colmar, on a very touristic street, but the place has not at all that cheap and touristy vibe, it's actually a very nice restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was great, we had a beautiful Alsace Riesling wine for the lunch and a Gewurztraminer for the deserts. 100% Recommendable!
Esen★★★★☆
The foie gras is definitely worth trying. The pasta was average. One of the waitresses responded to our questions in a noticeably loud tone, almost as if she was mocking us, which seemed to reflect a somewhat common attitude we experienced in France. Interestingly, she kept her voice at a normal level for the rest of the service. Overall, it’s a place you can try, but apart from the foie gras, the food was quite average.

Nice atmosphere. Children's menu contained raw chicken which my children ate! When we found out, the waiter didn't apologise and were expected to pay for it aswell. Overall dissapointing.

Nice and characterful place. Not overwhelmingly special in terms of the food but fine.
This was the first restaurant we went to in Colmar so wanted to try some traditional Alsation food, including the Baeckoffe, Tarte Flambee and Jambonneau. All good. Not amazing, but good.
This is one of several short reviews of restaurants we (family of 4) tried in Colmar in July 2026.
They are La Galeria, Winstub Factory, Le Petit Schlossberg, Mamma Giovanna, Caveau Saint Pierre and Café Jupiler.

This is a lovely place to eat next to the canal in the "Little Venice" district. The staff seated us quickly even after a very large tour group entered. The waiter was friendly, the food was served quickly and was good. Eat outside to enjoy the canal and quaint atmosphere.

A nice and beautiful place for a family Dinner. Good traditional food, terrace at La Lauch with a swan.
Mircea Badarau★★★★★
Very good food, alsacian cuisine very tasty and delicious. Pork knuckles with sauerkraut and potatoes, huuuuge portions, can be shared in two, cordon bleu with cream or simple, foie gras and flamed tartes. They have a kids menu with two choices.
I recommend to book in advance if possible if not you have to wait a while.

Stumbled upon this restaurant during its opening hours (6.30pm), there was a que outside so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the classics, meat platter as a starter, escargots, main meat platter. None if the dishes came out good unfortunately. Food is 1 star but service is top notch. Its very painful to write this review as the staffs are just so polite.
Maryam Solati★☆☆☆☆
Unfortunately, it was a very bad experience.
I ordered the Baeckeoffe, expecting a traditional and high-quality dish, but it was extremely disappointing. The presentation was very unappetizing – the potatoes were completely overcooked and mixed with the meat into a messy, unattractive dish. The taste was also unpleasantly bitter, and I could barely eat more than one bite.
When I told the staff, the response was cold and dismissive, which made the experience even worse.
Overall, one of the worst food experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend this place.
Agnieszka Lipińska★★★★☆
The restaurant has w perfect location, really pleasant deco and atmosphere. The food was ok, bit nothing special. It was our first dinner in Colmar, after trying a couple more places I can say, there are better addresses to have traditional food. Mine, as well as my son’s was just blend, gratin had a lot of fat and not a lot of taste. The burger also blend, no salt.
Good sweet though.
David McKinney★★★★★
The food was absolutely delicious and the local specialities were particularly enjoyable. Portion sizes were very generous. My two teenage sons had Profiteroles for desert and neither could finish them.
The gentleman who hosted our table was attentive, helpful and also quite funny without being over bearing.
The prices were very reasonable. Particularly in a town that is quite touristy and knows how to charge.
I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

It was the only restaurant accepting us to have dinner at 21:30 PM. The service was really friendly and they organized to put a table for us. Environment was really nice and the food quite tasty. If you go here, must order the two dishes I’ve attached in the pictures.

My husband and I went here for our 10 year Anniversary. The service and the food were amazing! We had the escargot, waffle & salmon, lamb and the steak dishes. It was really the best meal I’ve had in all of the places I recently travelled to in France the past 2 weeks! I highly recommend this place! Shout out to our amazing server Andrea. Thank you again for the delicious meal!

It's a very friendly, cosy place, situated right in the middle of the touristic area. The stuff is very kind, the food is ok, nothing to complain but still not amazing, the decoration is so-so, I would recommend the place if you're on budget, it's far from being an expensive restaurant. Good quality for the price. I gave only 4 stars because I found the wine list to be a little too short, especially for France. Nonetheless we spend a very nice evening there.
Vasia Papadopoulou★★★☆☆
Generally mediocre, not bad or impressive. The staff is very friendly and warm, and the interior alright.
• It took a bit too long to get what we ordered - 40 mins between entrè and main, and the portions were small and the taste just ok.
The beef cheeks are tender indeed.
The salmon and chicken mediocre. Price range was ok but I would love to see some more effort on the dishes for what we paid.

Had a lovely evening with great food and very friendly waiters. Would definitely return the next time we're in Colmar. Especially enjoyed the oysters and the lamb!
Mirela Boariu★★★★★
We had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Les Six Montagnes! From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere made us feel welcome. The food was exceptional – the salmon and rice pilaf was cooked to perfection, and the burrata and tomatoes salad was simply divine. The thoughtful presentation of every dish was almost as impressive as the burst of flavors. We can't wait to return to try more of their creative menu and will be recommending this hidden gem to everyone!

Found this restaurant by chance, and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing. Since we hardly spoke any french the owner has been attending us who has been an absolute gem! Got amazing wine pairings, dessert recommendations and lot of laughter. Best Caesar salad and desserts. Since it was a full night it took longer for the food to arrive but that was fine since the good atmosphere also brings in amazing people to chat with.
We live hours away but will make sure to come back as soon as possible! 10/10 would recommend

A traditional Alsatian restaurant in the "Petite Venise" district of Colmar. The restaurant's location is excellent, and the atmosphere is pleasant.
The food is decent, the beer is good, and the service was friendly. Unfortunately, you only have one hour to eat, after which you have to give up the table.

We had the pork cheeks and the choucroute with meat (sausage and pork)! Both meals were very well prepared and filling! The place is very cosy and the service is excellent, very friendly and professional. You might need to wait because they do not accept reservations but it's definitely worth it!

My husband and I wait on line before they open the restaurante, was busy but we maid it. The place was cosy, warm and you could feel that was kind a home, everyone that attend us was super nice, specially our waitress gave us recommendations and always happy to attend. We love the alsace food, very tasty 😋🔝

The ambience and views here are amazing if you can get a table on the outside. I'd highly recommend you book a table online for an early sitting as this place is very popular among tourists. For reference, we booked for 6:45 on a Saturday and got one of the last exterior seats overlooking the canal.
The staff were very professional, efficient, and friendly. Unlike other French restaurants, their level of service is much more in-line with what you'd expect at a North American establishment. We noticed they revisited the table very frequently to check-in with guests (how is everything etc...). Food and drinks were served very quickly as well.
The food itself was solid in my opinion. The terrine seemed to be homemade and reminded me of a North American meatloaf. The pickled vegetables were a nice addition to balance out the savory and fatty terrine. The pork knuckle was very savoury with a strong wine aftertaste. The chicken dish was very creamy with a strong wine aftertaste as well. The mashed potatoes were very tender and creamy with good texture from the browned exteriors.
Overall, the food was solid. I'll admit I had a more balanced pork knuckle elsewhere. The menu clearly states there is wine within both dishes, but I would suggest diners who dislike the flavor of alcohol within their food to choose carefully from the menu.
There is only one toilet/washroom for the entire restaurant. It's very spacious and clean however.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent — the pork knuckle was outstanding, and the salad was fresh and perfectly prepared. The wine and beer selection were also very good and complemented the meal nicely.
The service was truly impressive. A special mention goes to Christelle, who took care of us immediately and seated us in a perfect outdoor spot without any delay. She was attentive, efficient, and very welcoming throughout.
We highly recommend this place without hesitation and would definitely come back.

Very interesting concept of a restaurant. It’s a small place with a few tables and only a few dishes on the menu (good selection of drinks though). Some may think the service is a bit slow but the sole waiter is very attentive and it’s really a one seating kind of thing - the atmosphere is nice, there is no rush and you can really enjoy your meal. I regret that we didn’t stay for dessert. Also, bonus points for being dog friendly!

We came here during our stop through Colmar and very glad we did. Everything is excellent - from service, wine, food and ambiance!! The restaurant offers small seasonal menu and we tried two different starters and two different mains, which are all delicious! Totally recommended.

Probably the best rissotto I’ve ever had, although between the steak and risotto there it took a while to get the food, but worth while the wait for that rissotto. Service was good, but could be improved if they could be attentive not often. Would return!

Service was excellent.
Had a nice bit of Alsace wine, yum.
Ordered the tartare, didn’t much care for it being on a bed of rocket but whatever, was good.
My friend had a steak which he enjoyed.
Crème Brûlée was tasty, can recommend!

Choucroute was good. Rib steak was tough. After a bit of resistance, they offered to replace it with another meal - sea bass, which was good. Nice atmosphere and service. The mark of a good restaurant is how they deal with things when things aren't right. Pass.

Friendly staff and great food. The potion is much bigger than my expectation. I wanted iced coffee. They don’t have it but they gave me some ice for me to make it. Very nice. The atmosphere is great. I saw many locals coming for lunch.
Tips for Choosing the Best Seafood in Colmar
Navigating a seafood menu in a landlocked city can feel daunting, but a few simple strategies will elevate your dining experience. Understanding local customs, timing, and menu language helps you order with confidence and avoid common disappointments. The following tips are designed to help you eat like a local and get the most from Colmar’s seafood scene.
Ask about the catch of the day. Always inquire what arrived fresh that morning. Chefs in Colmar often receive limited quantities of specialty fish like John Dory or red mullet, and these sell out quickly. The daily specials board is your best friend.
Pair seafood with Alsatian wines. While white Burgundy and Chablis are classic choices, do not overlook local Riesling, Pinot Blanc, or Crémant d’Alsace. Their bright acidity and mineral notes cut through rich sauces and complement delicate fish beautifully.
Check the origin on the menu. Reputable restaurants will list where their seafood comes from, such as Brittany oysters or Scottish salmon. Transparency about sourcing is a strong indicator of freshness and quality.
Reserve for lunch rather than dinner. Many top seafood spots offer excellent lunch formulas at a fraction of the dinner price. You will enjoy the same quality ingredients and attentive service without the evening crowds.
Do not skip the shellfish starters. Colmar excels at cold seafood platters, especially during months with an “r.” Oysters, whelks, and langoustines served simply with lemon and rye bread make an ideal light meal or shared appetizer.
Be flexible with your order. If the kitchen recommends a substitution due to a failed delivery or seasonal availability, trust their judgment. A flexible mindset ensures you taste the freshest possible seafood rather than a frozen alternative.
Seafood in Colmar may not be the first thing travelers think of, but it is a hidden strength of the local dining scene. From humble fish soups to extravagant shellfish towers, the city offers remarkable variety for its size. With a little planning and curiosity, you can enjoy ocean-fresh flavors without ever leaving the vineyards of Alsace.
The best meals often happen when you slow down, ask questions, and let the season guide you. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply ending a day of sightseeing, Colmar’s seafood restaurants provide a delicious counterpoint to the region’s hearty land-based cuisine. Bon appétit.
