Alameda de Hércules is not just a historic promenade in Seville; it is the beating heart of the city’s modern culinary and social scene. Often referred to as the “hipster hub” of the Andalusian capital, this wide, column-lined square serves as a melting pot where traditional Sevillian taverns coexist with avant-garde fusion kitchens and specialty coffee roasters.
Unlike the more tourist-heavy districts surrounding the Cathedral or the Giralda, Alameda de Hércules offers a distinctly local atmosphere. Here, the pace is slower, the conversations are louder, and the dining focuses heavily on quality ingredients rather than rushed set menus. It is a place where you are just as likely to see an elderly neighbor sipping a manzanilla as you are to see a digital nomad enjoying a slow-brewed coffee.
The gastronomic landscape surrounding the Alameda is incredibly diverse. Because the area has undergone significant gentrification over the last two decades, the food scene has evolved into a dynamic ecosystem. You can find authentic, family-run tapas bars that have barely changed their recipes in fifty years sitting directly next to modern brasseries serving Mediterranean-Asian fusion dishes.
Navigating this dense concentration of restaurants can be overwhelming, especially if you are visiting for the first time. The sheer volume of tables spilling out onto the cobblestones makes it difficult to distinguish between a tourist trap and a genuine culinary gem. Knowing where the locals actually choose to eat is the key to unlocking the true flavor of this neighborhood.
To help you cut through the noise, we have curated a list of the best dining establishments within walking distance of the Alameda. These selections are based on consistency, use of local produce, atmosphere, and the overall value they provide to the diner. Whether you are looking for a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or a late-night dinner, this guide has you covered.
These restaurants represent the true spirit of Seville: sociable, unpretentious, and deeply passionate about food. From the perfect croqueta to innovative vegan tasting menus, the area surrounding Alameda de Hércules promises a memorable meal for every palate and budget.
Below, you will find the definitive list of the twelve best restaurants near Alameda de Hércules, carefully selected to ensure you eat as well as the locals do.

I'm celiac, they have a total gluten free menu, which is huge with lots of options of pasta, pizza, main courses, meat, desserts, and more. The place is very nice, quiet, and the service and servers are amazing! The food comes very quick! The pizza, meat lasagna, chocolate cake and tiramisú I ordered (all gluten free) were delicious. Super reccomended!

Great italian restaurant. We had a reservation and fine places. Took the delicious focaccia starter, silky ravioli and pizza “ufo” .. and a treat with cannolo! Go here if you want great food and service..

Amazing food and lovely staff! We recommend getting there a bit early (before 10pm). And get one of the specials!

Took gluten free really seriously, making sure I had GF bread and a yellow mat to indicate the allergy on the table, with a full GF menu.
I recommend the rice pasta with Gambas and Thai sauce! Muy muy deliciosa

Easily the best place in Seville for a relaxed, casual meal in an open piazza full of life
The food was awesome without a word of a lie. So many great vegan options combined with some of the best meat options in the whole of Seville. Waiter was very Spanish but tried his hardest to interpret us. Super highly recommended...

Absolutely loved it, the fusion, the flavours are so perfect. We were greeted with tasty fresh olives and all drinks are affordable. I took grilled salmon and my partner took chicken skewers it was soooooo tasty. For starters we also had hummus which very good and fresh.
Plus everything was very affordable.
10 out of 10🤩🤩

Went there for dinner after another place was closed.
Good service. I got the seitan skewers and my wife got the lentil salad. Both were excellent. Reasonable prices

I liked the food, but was not very happy with how long it took to bring the different dishes, I.e. they didn’t come together so by the time you ate one of the plates, you had to wait for the others to arrive.

had a solo dinner in this lil restaurant. The server was so gentle and he recommended me a great dish. I spent only 30 euros which is great tbh, i took a salmon plate, taboule salad, 2 cokes and a glass of white wine. They also give u bread, cracker and olives as soon as u arrive.

Amazing meal. Gazpacho, Scallops, Ceviche, Sirloin, Seafood Paella and the Catalan Creme dessert were all amazing. Cute spot. Great cocktails. Amazing wine list. Splurged on the Pazo Barrantes La Comtesse Albariño- awesome! Niko, Le Le and Abel were fantastic and took great care of us. Nightcap on their awesome rooftop after. Truly memorable experience!

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at El Disparate in early April! To begin with, we requested a change to our reservation by email to advance our reservation by one hour. The restaurant promptly and kindly accepted our last-minute request. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and seated immediately. We didn’t have to wait for our drink order to be taken and delivered. We opted for the tasting menu and were very glad we did. Each of the ten dishes was beautifully presented and exceptionally well prepared using the freshest, high-quality ingredients: cherry gazpacho, sardine panipuri, tuna tartar, scallop with potato foam, beef carpaccio, cod confit, lamb ravioli, oxtail, chocolate bonbons and finally mango tartar with lemon sorbet and yogurt foam! The meal was in a word, flawless! In addition, the service was delightful, too: professional while at the same time, friendly. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this restaurant!

We stayed in the Corner House and popped down for lunch. It was a blast. The food was delicious - we ended up with three courses, the wine was outstanding, the service was personable and friendly, and the outdoor seating was perfect for people watching 🙂 Highly recommend. Better book for dinner well in advance, otherwise lunch still hits the spot.
Albert Ka Shing LAI★★★★☆
Enjoyed the dinner thoroughly, we were recommended to have the red snapper, which the sauce was flavourfully delicious. It would have been better with less cooking time, but I guess it is because of the size of the fish. LOVED the artichoke carpaccio, especially the Parmesan cheese ice cream 😍
Service was impeccably attentive, which enhanced our dining experience. Would definitely recommend.
Anne Verhaeghe★★★★★
Amazing experience, very friendly staff and beautiful interior! The food was excellent as well, I've never tasted fish as fresh as here! Perhaps a side dish could be added (such as potatoes to share), so that the portions of the main course could be slightly larger? But thats really the only thing i could say.
I would definitely recommend adding this restaurant to your Sevilla trip!!

A great restaurant for authentic Andalusian tapas. The menu has so many good options that it is hard to make a decision what to have. I will definitely be coming back here to order more of what's on offer. Paco commands the waiters from the front of the street whilst simultaneously enticing customers inside. The wine and beer is well priced and the food is delicious. I highly recommend that you visit if you like tapas. We were lucky to get a portion of Torrija since we were close to Easter.
Joseph Filipponio★★★★★
Went here one year ago today with my girlfriend and our friend after we checked out the Hercules columns. Got sangrias, patatas bravas (Potatoes with hot and garlic sauce), and a seafood paella. Everything tasted great. Recommend Las Columnas if you’re travelling to Seville.
Rommel Menzies★★★★★
Our waiter Alex was an excellent resource in helping us choose the house favorites in Sevilla! He helped tremendously with our meals and kept us wowed with each plate that came and eventually the mouthwatering desserts. Thanks again, Alex! Everybody go ask for Alex!!!
Marinela K★★★★★
This restaurant is amazing. The atmosphere is alive, friendly and has the best vibe. The food is authentic, flavourful and the portions are huge, the best value for your money. The staff are very friendly and Alex is absolutely incredible. He takes customer service to the next level. He truly cares about making his customers feel welcome and goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable, have everything you need and are enjoying the food. He answers all of your questions and is more than willing to help tourists with whatever inquiries they have. During our week long stay in Sevilla last year, we only ate dinner at this restaurant. We returned again this summer and did the very same thing. The menu is large and there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy. I would rate this restaurant a 20/10. Ask for Alex when we visit!
Ann-Marie Smith★★★★★
Great food with delicious traditional and local dishes. The hospitality was outstanding and Alex made the experience even better with his warm, friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend.

Popped in for some food to get out of the rain. Nice team and the food was great. We are struggling a bit with the menu but they luckily had an English version which helped. We had a lovely glass of rioja whilst waiting for the food. We have tuna, chickpea stew, eggs and ham, roast pork and cheese croquettes. We think the crocequettes were the best we've had. We then finished with a creme brulé which was excellent as well. All in all we couldn't fault the food at all.
Kevin T Cahill★★★★★
With 48 hours in Seville - I asked my tour guide where to go and he recommended here. While away from the tourist area it was well worth my time. I had fried cheese with Blueberry compote, fried peppers and pork cheeks. One of the best experiences of my time in Spain.
Laurena was my server - she was incredible - an asset to any restaurant.
Only odd part - and I say this as someone who runs a business - who I believe was the owner showed up in his Audi - barked orders - made everyone feel uncomfortable and then left within 10 minutes. It looked like he was with his teenaged daughter and (as someone who has a 18 year old son) she looked embarrassed/mortified.
He should stay home and let his people do their job - because they are all doing amazing.
Debbie Edwards★★★★★
Lovely food and super-helpful waiter (Adrian). He recommended the garlic prawns and pork cheek in addition to our existing order (spinach and chickpea stew, fried anchovies, potatoes with picon sauce). All the food was lovely (fantastic warm bread basket also) but the garlic prawns were simply incredible.... Some of the best we have ever tasted. Great value - just under 45 euro including drinks for two people.
Kíra Lancz★★☆☆☆
Unfortunately the food was of low quality and with deceptive descriptions, not matching the price point and quality one would expect based on similar restaurants nearby. Attached is what we received as a medium rare beef entrecote - we're not quite sure what it was...
The servers were lovely and very professional, but the food was disappointing.
Andreea Naidin★★★★★
Had a wonderful dinner at Atape with a fantastic variety of tapas. The ensaladilla rusa was absolutely amazing—one of the highlights of the meal. We also loved the lagartitas ibéricas, queso frito, and the arroz negro served with alioli, which was rich and full of flavor. The pez espada was perfectly cooked and delicious.
Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and packed with flavor. Overall, an amazing dining experience with excellent food and a great selection of tapas. Highly recommended!

It's so lovely to sit at the square and enjoy a great meal with several tapas. The tapas where very good and the service was enjoyable, very attentive. The kids loved the croquetas and the traditional potato salad and grilled artichoke was to die for.
Sonya C★★★★★
Excellent Tapas!!! Don’t go at 1230pm when they open because they won’t be ready to serve until about 130pm. But was worth the wait!!! At 830pm they were on time for dinner. They don’t have the artichokes with bolognese on the menu anymore but everything else I tried was fantastic!!! Many delicious tapa to choose from. Including the quail, croquettes, Gilda especial, seafood burger, noodles with pork, basque cheesecake, BEST Spanish tortilla EVER!
Went for lunch AND dinner so I could try more dishes 🙂 it was a recommendation by my Niki tour guide, Ivan!
Lynn Braun★★★★★
Great vibe and tapas! Not sure if I’m finally figuring out how to order or if this place has better selection? Very busy, so be patient- upside, no rush if you want to just enjoy the atmosphere!
Chris Bonnett★★★★★
Awesome tapas, great drinks, friendly service and a great value. They have an amazing gilda tapa and I felt very much at home as a tourist in what seemed to be a locals tapas bar.
Merve Karacaoglu★★★★☆
This place a was gem. I came after reading good reviews and would definately recommend for tapas. When we entered, it seemed more like a bar than a tapas bar. But when we sat down, we saw a menu with a lot of variety. We tried the vermouth, sangria blanco, chiccharon, cuttlefish burger, iberico ham, and tomato salad (not in picture). The waitress was super friendly and helpful, we had amazing service. Definately worth a visit.

I ate and drank here daily because of the handsome and friendly servers and the awesome menu with great prices. My favorites were the anchovy, tuna skewers, and tortilla. The tortilla was unique because it has roasted garlic on top. Yum!
Carlos Ruiz Bonnet★★★★★
Great service and I was certainly surprised with the great taste. I was ready to order another plate. Cold beer and friendly staff. We enjoyed our time at Casa Paco, thank you.
Kooky Critic★★★★★
Surprised at how good the food was here. Stopped by for lunch near the Hércules and winter Market. The prices were affordable, no tourist trap here. The portions were great.
The meals were probably some of the best we had in Seville so far. The Toastada Salmon was sublime. The Burrata and Zuchini salad was deliciousness. And the Bocadillo de Calamari was certainly worth searching for here.
Service was great, no complaints there.
Location, outside terasse with fore heaters, a nice touch. Honestly nothing to complain at all, would return every day for lunch.
Sadik Kovaci★★★★★
Fantastic place, delicious food and great people. Real Spanish experience unlike going into main town which is very touristy and crowded. The food was reasonably priced...a family of 4 for £60 not bad.
Ivy Sun★★★★★
Really good food!
We visited Barcelona and Mallorca before coming to Seville, really didn’t want to have Tapas anymore but our hotel staff recommended this place so we came. All these tapas we haven’t seen before, and they are all incredibly yummy!!! I ll crave for them when I leave Seville.
Especially the zucchini burrata salad, I have tried this in another restaurant, Casa paco has done it way way better! The sauce was so good, we used the bread to clean the plate.
Everything else was very good too, price is so so much better than Barcelona and Mallorca, definitely will come back for other options!

A great Mexican spot right on Plaza de Alameda de Hércules, with a lovely shaded outdoor seating area.
We tried a mix of tacos along with some beers, and the birria tacos were a clear highlight. The spicy salsas are also excellent and add a real kick.
Even in winter or rainy weather, the interior stays warm, cozy, and inviting - making it a solid choice year-round.
Roslyn Williams★★★★★
Incredible food and cocktails.
All the food is gluten free and everything we had was absolutely delicious. The tres leches dessert was insanely good.
Some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had too.
Definitely a coeliac must visit.
shay★★★☆☆
A few vegan options available but unfortunately doesn’t quite deliver on flavour. The seasoning on the vegan chickn barbacoa was nice but far too heavy on the sauce. The tropical option tasted fresh but was also weirdly sweet on the palate which probably could’ve been helped balanced out my some sourness, spice, or salt.
The servers were lovely, however, and advised me on some options i was considering 🙂 Food and drinks were served out very swiftly

Delicious food on a fun terrace. The atmosphere is inviting, the plates are all flavorful and well balanced. The tuna tostadas is one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The drinks are strong - A perfect way to start an evening in Seville.

This was a wonderful experience. We’ve spend a few times here during our Sevilla trip, and this place is one of a kind. Versatile menu (amazing vegan food!) with nothing but good quality Mexican food and drinks. The staff was lovely and offered a fast and polite service. 10/10 recommendation!

Fantastic atmosphere, music was great, drinks perfect and marta was a lovely host - we will be back again multiple times on our trip for sure!

First, they were not seating people on the rooftop. But we did not mind sitting outside. That was actually the best part of our experience. However, the food and drink was terrible. Aperol spritz was flat, bao was way too salty and not particularly tasty. Poke bowl was ok. Caesar salad was cooked, which was just weird and unnecessary (cooked lettuce just gets limp) and the chicken in the salad was too fried. They didn't bring bread till we were done eating.

The food was okay, but the service wasn't great, and a 10% service fee on top of the bill was unacceptable. The table wasn't cleared long after we finished our food. We enjoyed most of the tapas, except for the Andalusian potato salad and the chicken wings.

Julia Ribeira★☆☆☆☆
this was truly one of the worst if not the worst restaurant experiences ive had in all of Spain (believe me, i live near Sevilla and what they are serving are not paellas, its just burnt oily rice). Not only did we have to wait more than one hour for our “paellas” (that only serve one person) to arrive, which arrived separately (2 came first then the other two took almost 20 more minutes to come) but also they mixed up our orders and told us the marisco paella’s were sevilla’s mixed paella’s. the staff was not that friendly nor helpful, most of the positive reviews must be from friends or locals that know anyone related to this restaurant because there is no way anyone ever actually enjoyed this place. the women’s toilet was also broken so you have to use the men’s (which is really dirty and almost looks like a storage room). truly wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy, don’t waste your money or your time like we did.
David Lund Nordborg★☆☆☆☆
I would not recommend anyone buying from their tapas menu!
The food was really bad and old.
The olives tasted disgusting and had mold spots. The so called “Spanish tortilla” was like a dry cake baked five days ago and then served.
I ordered a strawberry smoothie, it tasted like water.
I feel bad, my stomach feels sick and I payed too much for this tourist trap.
Moon Zara★★★★★
Located on a very nice sunny terrace, the staff were very friendly despite my broken Spanish. I had a breakfast and prices were really good. The quality of the food was also amazing!
Henry Crawford★★☆☆☆
Overpriced, poor quality food. You could tell the croquettes and meatballs were frozen. Nice staff
NELSON WEDER★☆☆☆☆
Worse experience ever! They charged us 5.5 euros for one tinto de verano. The normal price is 3.5 and without telling us they charged more. That's totally unfair.

Loads of places in the city were full with people waiting to get in , we arrived here and got a table no problem 😁
Food and drinks were 1st class.
We were in Seville 20 + years ago and went to bar alfalfa, riconcillo etc etc
Now you have to wait for sub standard tapas and overpriced food 🤔
You will not get better food or service than here🙏😁😁😁

This place was close to the place we stayed at, so we decided to try it out. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of everything that we had (tapas). We tried the Seasoned Potatoes, Iberian ham croquettes, Ines cake orange with guacamole and salmon, pork cheek and pork belly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The area in general is very busy, so it is not ideal if you want a quiet sit down place.
Jamy Sprenkels★★★★★
It was very busy during Holy Week but we received incredible food and great service. We highly recommend the cheesecake for dessert!

I had a great time here! We ordered a mixed Iberian platter with cheese and some patatas bravas — everything was delicious. Good quality products, nicely presented, and perfect for sharing. Friendly service too. Would definitely come back!

Until now the best place for dinner.
We had a plate of local jamon and cheese, after we had the ox tail and Iberian pluma. The food was excellent, noting to add. Initially only two tables and surprisingly in a few minutes got full.
Tips for Dining Near Alameda de Hércules
To truly enjoy the culinary culture of this vibrant neighborhood, it helps to understand the local dining etiquette and timing. While the restaurants near Alameda de Hércules are generally welcoming, adjusting your habits to match the Sevillian rhythm will significantly enhance your experience and ensure you get the best service possible.
- Adjust to Spanish Meal Times: Lunch (la comida) typically starts around 2:00 PM and can last until 4:00 PM, while dinner (la cena) rarely begins before 8:30 PM or 9:00 PM. If you arrive at 7:00 PM looking for dinner, you will likely find kitchens closed or serving only cold tapas. Embrace the late dining culture; it is part of the charm.
- Embrace the Tapeo Culture: Don’t feel pressured to order a three-course meal at a single restaurant. The best way to experience the Alameda is to "ir de tapeo"—hopping between bars. Order one or two small plates and a drink at one spot, then move to the next. This allows you to sample a wider variety of the local cuisine.
- Look for "Producto Local": Seville is surrounded by fertile farmland and close to the coast. Prioritize dishes that highlight Iberian pork (jamón ibérico), local cheeses, Andalusian olive oil, and fresh fish from the nearby Atlantic. Avoid restaurants with generic menus featuring photos of the food; these are usually aimed at tourists and lack freshness.
- Reservations for the Weekend: While weekday lunches might be easy to walk into, the Alameda becomes incredibly busy on Friday and Saturday nights. If you have your heart set on one of the more popular modern restaurants or rooftop terraces, booking a table a day or two in advance is highly recommended to avoid a long wait.
- Cash for Small Purchases: While most established restaurants accept credit cards, some traditional bars or smaller tapas spots may have a minimum spend for card payments or prefer cash for quick coffee and tapas stops.
