Madrid wakes up slowly, but when it does, it does so with orange juice, tomato pulp, and the unmistakable aroma of toasted bread drizzled in olive oil. Few neighborhoods capture this morning ritual better than the area surrounding Plaza de España. Nestled between the Royal Palace, Gran Vía, and the lush greenery of Parque del Oeste, this historic square is not just a tourist thoroughfare; it is a culinary crossroads where traditional Madrileño cafés meet modern brunch culture.
The transformation of Plaza de España over the last decade has turned it from a traffic-heavy roundabout into a pedestrian-friendly haven. With the recent renovations and the influx of boutique hotels, the demand for high-quality breakfast has skyrocketed. Whether you are looking for a quick espresso and a pastry before touring the Debod Temple or a leisurely three-course brunch to cure a late night, the surrounding streets offer a diverse range of options.
Finding the right spot, however, requires navigating through a mix of tourist traps and authentic local gems. The key is knowing which streets to explore. While the plaza itself offers a few iconic hotel dining rooms, the true magic often lies just a block away in the neighborhoods of Malasaña, Argüelles, and the streets branching off Calle Princesa.
This guide is designed to help you eat like a local, not a visitor. We have focused on places that prioritize quality ingredients, consistent service, and atmosphere. From traditional churros to avocado toast and shakshuka, the area caters to every palate and dietary requirement, including vegetarian and gluten-free options.
We have evaluated these establishments based on coffee quality, freshness of ingredients, value for money, and the overall experience. We believe a great breakfast is not just about the food; it is about the warmth of the service and the comfort of the setting.
Below, you will find our curated list of the best breakfast and brunch spots near Plaza de España, followed by essential tips to navigate the local dining culture like a pro.

The food is fresh, healthy, and packed with flavor. Their coffee is fantastic, and the attention to detail is top-notch. What truly makes this place special, though, is the staff. They are exceptionally kind, professional, and welcoming. If you are looking for a great start to your morning in Seville, do not miss this lovely spot.
Highly recommended! 😊

We found this vibrant cafe, tucked into a street near our hotel. A perfect place to stop for fresh, healthy food with such a variety! We visited twice and would recommend. Really sets you up for a great start to a busy day. The food and coffee were excellent and the service quick, considering options and variety being prepared. A busy corner but we only waited 5 mins for a table to be cleared. Staff were so friendly and thanks to the Irishman who encouraged me to speak in Spanish! We’ll visit again on a future trip. Disfrutes… give it a try!

What a cozy cutie vibe, not the mention the food was very yummy too! We shared an açaí bowl, the Mediterranean tostada, and mango bagel sandwich. All were super delicious and had a great presentation. The golden latte felt like it was made of tumeric and milk, which was not for us, but they had many other drinks. The staff were also very kind. A good place for locals and tourists as they had an English menu and were understanding with my rough Spanish.

Foods were absolutely delicious. The person who served us was very kind and friendly. If you’re looking to enjoy a tasty and relaxing brunch in a cozy, boutique spot on a quiet street, I would definitely recommend this place.

We had the pleasure to enjoy a breakfast at Chia. The quality of ingredients is great, both for sweet and salty options. The place is tiny but comfortable and the two guys managing are making their best to give the best experience to the people on the inside. No queue in front of the place, they will accomodate you only if there is space to give everyone the best experience

We visited Brunchit in Sevilla for morning brunch and, to be honest, we almost left before we even sat down. We waited quite a while without being acknowledged by the staff, which was disappointing initially.
However, the manager, Alvaro, completely turned our experience around. Once he noticed us, he was incredibly apologetic and genuine. He explained that he was new to the role and still settling in, and his sincerity in acknowledging the team's oversight was refreshing. He personally made sure we were comfortably seated and well looked after for the rest of our visit.
The food was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and with fun, trendy names that matched the quality on the plate. As a huge plus for parents, Alvaro went above and beyond by having the kitchen prepare a chicken burger for our daughter, even though it wasn't on the kids menu. Also, the flat white was spot on and exactly what we needed.
Without Alvaro’s intervention and kind hospitality, we wouldn't have stayed, but we are so glad we did. If you go, you’re in great hands with him.

The restaurant is absolutely amazing! The place is very clean, and the food is incredibly delicious. The breakfast options are varied and have something for everyone. The fresh orange juice was exceptional — honestly one of the highlights! 🍊✨
The only downside was the coffee, which wasn’t as good as I expected.
A special thank you to Alvaro, our waiter, who was absolutely wonderful — friendly, attentive, and made our experience even better. Highly recommended!

Lovely place and staff with wonderful food and a big selection of drinks. We showed up without a reservation with 6 people and were seated immediately. Perfect for a big brunch or lunch - Recommend the Salty pancakes, the naughty salmon, and the avocado toast!

We visited for Sunday breakfast at opening time to avoid the busy period. We have visited the Barcelona site 2 years earlier and were pleased to recognise the same style, menu and details in Sevilla. The Eggs Benedict is lovely as are the fluffy pancakes. However, a whole portion can be a struggle to finish for one person as they are quite thick and the portion size is huge for a sweet plate of food! The avocado toast was also enjoyed and we loved the sheet of chia that was cleverly incorporated into the dish! Drinks are also good with a decent selection of hot and iced coffees to kickstart the day.
Ankur Verma★★★★★
Finally, we ended up going to this place that was really close to our hotel. It was recommended by a friend of ours, and honestly, it turned out to be one of the best places to just relax and unwind. The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful, the vibes were amazing, and the food was genuinely good too. After a long day, it was exactly the kind of spot we needed.
And the best part — they had free internet finally! The staff also spoke English, which made everything so much easier and more comfortable for us. Overall, we had an amazing time there and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a chill and cozy place to enjoy good food and relax.
Anna Skelding★★★★★
Ate here twice as it was so good! All of the staff are very attentive and welcoming as well as speedy with the service! The food was very reasonably priced as were drinks which made the experience even better.

Great brunch place with variety of options in the menu. The superfood omelette (spinach, kale, parsley) was very delicious served with tasty sourdough bread and it is generous in portion! Coffee was average in taste, could have been better.
Next time I will definitely try out their fluffy pancakes which also looks amazing!

A popular breakfast place with indoor and outdoor seating. The servers are very friendly and they try to accommodate any requests/changes to orders. The service was fast and the food did not disappoint. The eggs benedict was really good, the eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon and hollandaise sauce tasted good together. The pancakes were warm and fluffy and delicious! The omelette was seasoned well and the Moroccan tea transported me back to Morocco.

I had the Superfood Omelette, and I found it to be extremely fresh and filling. I also ordered the red detox, which was refreshing and tasty. Enrique’s customer service is top notch; he is very warm and friendly. The outdoor seating is great. I’d definitely recommend this place and I would come back here again!
Zahira Moukhlis★☆☆☆☆
The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, but unfortunately that was the only positive part of the experience. The food had almost no flavour and was very bland. The coffee also had a strange, unpleasant taste. To make matters worse, the egg dishes served during brunch had a very strong smell, which made them difficult to enjoy. Overall, the restaurant looks nice, but the quality and taste of the food were very disappointing.

We had an absolutely amazing breakfast at Billy Brunch! The food was fantastic, but what really stood out was the incredible service. The gentleman who served us was outstanding, especially with our children. He was so friendly, welcoming and attentive, which made the whole experience even better.
We would definitely recommend Billy Brunch to anyone looking for a great breakfast and excellent service. We will 100% be going back again! Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable. 🙌🍳🥓

Absolutely outstanding brunch experience in Seville!
We visited Billy Brunch on a beautiful morning in Seville and it instantly became one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we walked in, the vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, stylish decor, and mouthwatering menu had us excited.
The food was exceptional — generous portions, fresh ingredients, and perfectly executed dishes. The pancakes were fluffy and decadent, the Eggs Benedict had that perfect runny yolk, and the avocado toast was elevated with delicious toppings. Everything was packed with flavor, and they had great options for different dietary preferences too. The coffee was strong and smooth — exactly what we needed to start the day right.
But what truly made our visit special was our incredible server, Rocio. She was amazing from start to finish! So friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. Rocio made us feel genuinely welcome, checked in at the perfect moments, and had the warmest smile the whole time. Her service went above and beyond — she made our meal feel personal and extra enjoyable. Thank you, Rocio!
Billy Brunch is a must-visit if you’re in Seville. Whether you’re craving all-day breakfast, healthy options, or something indulgent, this place delivers on every level. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Andalusia.
Highly recommend — 10/10!

Big portions, tasty food and great service is all I need from a restaurant and Aba de Sevilla delivers. My avocado toast was stacked to the sky and everything tasted fresh. You can definitely share these plates because of the sizeable portion. Judging by the menu it looks like there’s something for everyone. Great value for money. Definitely visiting again when I’m in Sevilla!

Great food followed by excellent service. Good AC so you can relax from hot days and very nice atmosphere. Found this to be the best place on this strip. You can try others but you can't beat the service and food. Will be back again soon, thank you! Éxito muchachos!!!

Cute place in the heart of the city with a weird construction like decoration. Wide choice of breakfast dishes, friendly but very slow service. Egg benedict nordico was super tasty. It is crowded and you many need to wait a bit. It has a central location that is easy to reach. They did not have hot chocolate with orange so we could not try.

We were here for the first time on Saturday; the breakfast was so delicious that we went back for breakfast the next day. Delicious fresh food and delicious fresh smoothies. The croissant is definitely recommended. And as the icing on the cake, the staff is also super friendly.

Best brunch in Seville. Their burrata toast is exquisite. In fact, we originally came in November on vacation and made it a point to stop here on this trip. Prices are low too.

Excellent breakfast here if you like healthy food. I got the tortilla and the pancakes with fruits. A very welcome surprise how light the food was. The pancakes were not sugary at all, the eggs Florentin also with avocado and cream cheese, my daughter got was very fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend.

They have lots of breakfast options for everyone in your group. They have really healthy light options like bowls and they also have eggs if you want something more filling. All the fruits were fresh. Our drinks were excellent as well. They have a very cute indoor seating. When we came it was cold so maybe they have outdoor seating also when weather is better. Perfect spot for brunch, with options for every taste, both savory and sweet. They also offer many vegetarian options for savory dishes. It’s located in a central area of the city and is small but well-designed. There are seats both indoors and outdoors, making it perfect for a meal that’s a little different from the usual. The service was reasonably fast, and all the staff were kind and polite. I highly recommend it.

I visited Moya today for breakfast, and it was amazing!! Not only was the cafe really aesthetically pleasing and beuatiful, the food was amazing, the drinks were great, the vibes were nice, the staff was amazing, especially Jara. She was really friendly, accomodating, and sweet.
Overall, amazing vibes, I would definitely come back! I got the waffle, eggs, avocado, and bacon, and just a great start to my day overall. Thank you, Jara and Moya once again for your great hospitality.
Sanne★★★★★
We absolutely loved Moya — so much that we came here every single day during our week in Sevilla. My brother had recommended it from a previous trip, and he was absolutely right.
I ordered the Açaí Bowl every morning, he always took the Tropical Smoothie Bowl, and another in our group went for the hummus avocado toast. All of it was consistently delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The coffee was also really good — we tried both regular‑milk and oat‑milk cappuccinos (the small ones) and both were excellent.
The juices were a bit on the sour side for my taste, but everything else was perfect.
The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. By the end of the week, they didn’t even need to ask for my order anymore — they remembered it.
The vibe isn’t traditional Spanish; it’s more of a Bali‑style, pink, “Instagrammable” brunch spot. Not usually my type of atmosphere, but the food is absolutely amazing, so it didn’t matter at all.
Truly highly, highly, highly recommend. One of our favourite breakfast places in Sevilla.
Pieter Cools★★★★★
What a pleasant surprise to discover near our hotel. A vibrant place with pink accents that immediately lightens up your day. We took the waffle with omelette and avocado and the açaí bowl. Both were freshly made and delicious. But the real star was the coffee, a Burundi origin coffee with nice floral notes and a pleasant non bitter finish. Will come back here tomorrow!
Sonia Petrini★★★★☆
Lovely spot in a small street 🙂 exactly what I was looking for. The chai latte had the perfect sweetness and temperature, and the corn fritters were good, although the avocado could've been better. I had no problem finding a place to eat, and it was not too crowded despite being Sunday. Overall very good experience! Service was very welcoming.

Highly recommend pancakes and french toast if you want sweet
Pistachio latte was delicious
Mala and impossible burger were amazing as well
You can't go wrong with any options
Only caveat the wait is long. Took us 45 min to get a table. Come early !

My favourite breakfast / brunch place in Seville! The food is amazing and a good price. It tastes so fresh and there are English menu’s if needed. The staff also speak English which is very helpful and there are lots of good food options available. Sometimes it can take a while to pay if the place is busy but I definitely recommend it (especially the mascarpone pancakes and orange juice). It is also worth noting that it can get busy quite early on in the day so if you’re coming for breakfast, I recommend coming as soon as it opens to avoid queues.

For two days in a row went for brunch there. Saturday was bit busier so had to wait in line for about 10 min but it was definitely worth the wait. Portions great, menu big and actually interesting and representation amazing. Highly recommend it and cannot wait to come back.

We had a wonderful breakfast experience at La Mala Brunch! We customized their Eggs Benedict toast by asking them to remove the bacon, and it was absolutely amazing with its sauce and bread. The pistachio cream croissant was also really good. Based on the reviews, we ordered the mascarpone pancake, and it was delicious too. In short, no matter what you order here, it is truly flavorful. The staff is very friendly, welcoming, and solution-oriented. A fantastic breakfast spot in Seville that I highly recommend without hesitation!

Delicious! Our waiter was very kind and attentive from the moment we sat down. Everything is made to order, which you can really taste in the quality. The coffee was also a standout — made just the way you like it. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent brunch at La Mala Brunch!
We had several breakfasts there during our stay and everything was absolutely perfect. The place is modern and pleasant, although it can get a bit noisy during busy hours, which also shows how popular the restaurant is.
The menu is very varied, with both indulgent and healthy options: pancakes, bagels, bowls, brunch burgers, fresh smoothies… it’s hard to choose because everything looks delicious.
The products are fresh, beautifully presented, and the portions are generous.
A real favorite in Seville, both for the quality of the food and the atmosphere. This place truly deserves its excellent Google rating. We would definitely recommend it and gladly come back!

During my stay in Seville, this hidden gem was right in front of the apartment we rented. I initially stopped by for a coffee, but the menu looked so appetizing that I decided to order the club sandwich as well, and it was amazing! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. A very cool spot with excellent food and coffee. Highly recommended!

One of the best and delicious brunch ever had.
The place is a little bit busy and there is a waiting list, but definitely worth the wait.
Coffee came hot and strong, food was super tasty, fresh and delicious too.
Everything was top notch quality indeed.
This is a highly recognizable place in Seville.
Tips for the Perfect Breakfast Experience Near Plaza de España
Navigating the breakfast scene in Madrid requires a slight shift in mindset compared to other European capitals. The rhythm of the day is different, and understanding the local customs will significantly enhance your experience. To help you avoid common pitfalls and eat well, we have compiled a set of practical strategies based on local dining etiquette and timing.
1. Understand the Timing Culture
Madrid runs on a late schedule. While many coffee shops open early for commuters, "brunch" as a concept typically doesn’t start until 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM and can run until 1:30 PM. If you arrive at 8:00 AM, you will find plenty of bars serving "tostadas" and coffee, but the specialized brunch menus with pancakes or eggs benedict likely won’t be available until later.
2. Order the "Tostada con Tomate"
If you want to eat like a local, skip the butter and jam. The quintessential Madrid breakfast is a toasted baguette-style bread rubbed with fresh garlic and ripe tomato, drizzled with high-quality Spanish olive oil and a pinch of salt. It is simple, healthy, and absolutely delicious. You can usually add "jamón ibérico" or "aceite" for a small extra charge.
3. Don’t Skip the "Zumo Natural"
Freshly squeezed orange juice is a non-negotiable part of the Spanish breakfast ritual. Unlike in some countries where it is a premium add-on, most cafés near Plaza de España have commercial juicers and serve large glasses of cold, sweet orange juice. It is often cheaper than coffee and pairs perfectly with savory food.
4. Coffee Lingo: Know Your Order
While lattes and flat whites are increasingly common in trendy brunch spots, traditional cafés use specific terminology. A "café solo" is an espresso, a "cortado" is an espresso with a splash of milk, and a "café con leche" is half coffee, half hot milk. If you want a large American-style coffee, ask for a "café americano."
5. Be Mindful of Terrace Seating vs. Interior
Plaza de España is beautiful, but dining on a terrace directly on the square often comes with a "tourist tax" in the form of inflated prices and sometimes mediocre food. The best value and quality are usually found on the side streets like Calle de los Reyes or Calle Martín de los Heros. Venture one block away from the plaza to find where the locals are actually eating.
The area surrounding Plaza de España offers a unique blend of the old and the new. You can sit in a century-old bar with marble tables and waiters in white jackets, or you can find a minimalist café roasting single-origin beans from Ethiopia. This diversity is what makes the neighborhood so exciting for food lovers.
Ultimately, the best breakfast is the one that matches your mood and your schedule. Whether you are fueling up for a day of sightseeing at the Royal Palace or simply relaxing with a book and a second cup of coffee, these streets have something to offer. Take your time, embrace the late start, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere that makes Madrid one of the best breakfast cities in Europe.
