Great hotel! The staff is very friendly, and the location is excellent: you have many little restaurants and bars (all with high ratings) in the neighbourhood, and it feels overall very safe. As a woman, I did not feel unsafe walking to the hotel in the evening. It is also a plus that you can spend time in the backyard of the hotel in the evenings with some house wine. The beds are comfortable. Overall, the room is a bit small and in need of minor repairs (e.g., my drain was a little clogged, and some of the coat hooks were loose), but nothing really major to remark on. Also, since the neighbourhood is lively, it is not completely quiet at night, especially not on Fridays and Saturdays; if you are a light sleeper, take this into account. I didn't mind the noise. I really enjoyed my time here. I would come back to the hotel next time I visit Barcelona.

We stayed here for 4 nights in Barcelona, and the rooms are surprisingly small. Very little space, and no chairs for sitting. The bathrooms are fairly small too.
The staff was helpful, but curt. Location was great though, we were able to walk everywhere we needed to get to.
Our honeymoon ended up being 2 single beds put together rather than a single queen bed, which was unfortunate

Great location in a vibrant neighborhood with lots of good restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel rooms are a bit dated and have an unusual set up where there is a very small and narrow hallway with the sink/toilet on one side and the shower on the other. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

this hotel was the first i felt rather compelled to share a measly experience at without fully dogging on it.
after stepping into our room, i noticed there was debris on the floor, and was not clean.
after looking at the bed, i saw that there was some black mold on our pillow case, when i turned the pillow around.
one of the towel hooks was loose and was turning upside down, so it was not stable enough to hook a towel on.
when showering, the shower doors are not flush when closing, so water from the shower leaks out onto the floor.
the walls are thin, and we could hear many guests coming to and from the terrace, or checking in to their own rooms.
i could not connect to wifi at all.
the room was very meek, small, and reminded me of a sad hybrid between a hotel and a motel. it looked extremely minimalist, and reminded me of a hostel. there was a large wooden headboard, that added just enough personality to the space to promote it from a psych-ward to a hostel.
for a couple, it was just enough space, but any more luggage than 2 checked bags would've likely been overkill. it seems almost better just for one person.
staff seem okay but didn't seem to care much.
the only thing i liked about the place was again, the location, and also the fact that in the communal space there was a water refill station, as well as a coffee machine.
might be great if you are just there to sleep, or even a bachelor who doesn't care about hotel experience, but for a girl who's rather aware of details, this, despite being in a good area, is not worth it. i would 1000% rather stay at our previous hotel in the gothic quarter for the same price.

The location was perfect! The room was a little small but very clean and comfortable. They gave us a complimentary cup of wine and the terrace was very comfy. The only thing we didn't like was the TV, they have a very hard system to turn on the channels and search. I would recommend this hotel.

Casa Balmes: Keep Your Expectations Realistic and You’ll Be Happy
I have to admit, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Casa Balmes after reading a few of the reviews before our stay. Some comments had me wondering whether I should pack a sense of adventure along with my suitcase! But I’m glad I came with an open mind, because our experience was actually quite positive.
I have to give Casa Balmes credit. The people running the place were very honest and straightforward, and that goes a long way when you’re travelling.
One thing worth mentioning, especially because I had read reviews about additional charges: we were not charged any cleaning fee or ridiculous extras. Everything was straightforward, with no unpleasant surprises added to the bill.
The location is phenomenal. It is an excellent base for exploring Barcelona, with plenty of restaurants, cafés and attractions nearby.
Our room was also a pleasant surprise. It looked out onto a terrace garden, which meant we had plenty of natural light coming through a large window. That made the room feel bright and pleasant. I can’t say whether every room has a window this large or the same kind of view, so we may have simply been lucky with our room.
The rooms have the basic amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Nothing extravagant, but everything necessary minus the conditioner is there.
And that really is the key to Casa Balmes: know what you’re booking and keep your expectations realistic.
This is not a four-star or five-star hotel. Don’t arrive expecting marble bathrooms, luxury toiletries, room service and someone appearing magically whenever you ring a bell. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re probably in the wrong building!
But if you’re looking for a decent, well-located place to sleep, shower, have a simple breakfast and head out to explore Barcelona, it does the job very well.
Breakfast is simple, but honestly, Barcelona is overflowing with fantastic restaurants and cafés, so you’re hardly going to suffer from a lack of food options.
The only real adventure can be finding the place. The signage is surprisingly small, so locating the entrance can feel like a mini treasure hunt. If you’re struggling, look for Marhaba, the Lebanese restaurant next door, and number 60. That should make things considerably easier.
Overall, I think Casa Balmes deserves a fair and positive review. It is an honest effort to provide travellers with a decent, practical and well-located place to stay, and in our experience, they delivered exactly that.
Don’t compare it with a four-star or five-star hotel.
I arrived wondering what to expect and left thinking, “You know what? This is actually pretty decent.”
And sometimes, when you’re travelling, that’s exactly what you need.
Francisco Nogueira★☆☆☆☆
The room had no natural light. The only window it had faced an alley and no natural light came in at all. The gloomiest room I have ever stayed in. The breakfast is very poor and has no variety whatsoever. The location is excellent, but the owner, Carlos, is the most unbearable person I have ever met. First, he charges €10 if we arrive after 5 p.m., and I asked to leave the bags at the hotel until our flight. It was a Sunday and he said we had to pick up the bags by 2 p.m. because after that there would be no one there who could open the door for us. Ridiculous, and rude.
I’ve delivered the keys personally!! And you refuse to refund the 10€, and now you blocked me on whatsapp. You are a scammer.
Eileen Alipour★☆☆☆☆
During check-out the front-desk charged us an extra €20 on top of the city tax. After we protested, they reluctantly returned only €10 of that amount — which felt very unprofessional and unpleasant.
We stayed four nights; on three mornings some breakfast items ran out early. Each time we asked for the buffet to be replenished we were told it was finished and would be restocked the next day, but it was never refilled that same day!!
The room was clean and the hotel’s location is convenient.
I would not choose this hotel again if I return to Barcelona.
Ricardo Valero★★★☆☆
I leave this reviews mostly for the future me, as I come to Barcelona often and I want to remember which hotels I want to repeat and which ones avoid. I rather won’t repeat here because it doesn’t work as a proper hotel, but rather a b&b with limited hours for reception, no printer to give you a proper receipt, and it is located in a building where people live. Location is great and nothing bad about their rooms, but particularly I would rather stay in a normal hotel so hence the 3 stars

Location! Location! Location!
The hotel is situated on the quieter side of La Rambla approx. 200m from Placa Catalunya.
The terrace rooms overlook a fabulous choice of restaurants which are vibey and once your windows are closed you do not hear any noise at all.
The room and bathroom are a comfortable size and spotlessly clean. However, if you are looking for a good selection of toiletries you will be a little disappointed. A small bar of hand soap is supplied along with shower gel in the bath, No shower caps or vanity kit. So, bring your own.
The breakfast is very basic but ample.
The service itself is not that friendly, so if you are wanting assistance don't bank on it. Other than being acknowledged when we checked in there was no further contact which is strange for such a small hotel as you have to pass the reception area when entering or leaving the building and are totally ignored.
We have stayed here before so were expecting the same treatment, but I would return in a flash because of the location, the proximity to restaurants, Gothic Quarter, shopping, the Metro, taxis etc.
We visit Barcelona every year and spend very little time at the hotel, so being ignored at reception does not deter us from staying there. I would stay there again and again.
Prince Porto★★★★☆
Stayed for 6 nights. The location was perfect, it was close to everything and to Ciutat Comtal, which has the best tapas!
The whole stay was okay, the reception was very helpful and responsive to our requests and inquiries.
Though, the hotel didn’t come with any vanity set, which was very unlikely for hotels. The fridge in our room wasn’t working properly I think.
One feedback I could give is probably it would be better if they have better street signage that has the hotel name aside from the rooftop signage they have. It’s quite easy to miss the hotel when you’re walking around the area for the first time.
Nevertheless, we still enjoyed the stay. The rambla view was beautiful. Thank you.

It was a very pleasant stay. Hotel’s location, quietness and cleanliness are perfect. Staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Bathroom is very modern and huge. Room’s wardrobe has plenty of storage space. Little balcony is so cute. There is a gym, a restaurant and a pretty rooftop area with a swimming pool and it has a view of Rambla de Catalunya. I’d definitely stay here again.
Jean Cassells★★★★★
Basic and functional hotel in an ideal position for exploring Barcelona. At the quieter end of Rambla handy for restaurants and metro station just round the corner. About 100 yard from Plaça De Catalunya and the airport bus service. Breakfast offering could be better but on the whole not a bad hotel.

Disappointing Stay from Start to Finish.
I made this reservation only after explicitly requesting photos of the room by email before making any payment. The images provided clearly showed a room with a large window, which was the deciding factor for confirming the booking for myself and my two colleagues.
What was delivered was completely different.
Despite having completed online check-in in advance and confirming in person that everything was in order, I was never informed that the room assigned to me would not match what had been presented. When I returned later that day, I was given a room that was clearly different from the photos.
This was not an isolated issue. All three of us were placed in rooms that did not correspond to what had been communicated prior to payment. This is, at best, misleading communication and, at worst, false representation.
I raised the issue immediately. Instead of resolving it, I was told to come back the next day. I repeated the request multiple times with different staff members simply to fix a problem created by the hotel.
The following day, the room was finally changed, but the way the situation was handled was unacceptable. I was told that I “didn’t need to lie” and that no one had promised me anything. This is incorrect and highly unprofessional.
It escalated further when I was accused of having a “pattern” of complaints, simply because I had spoken to multiple receptionists about the same unresolved issue. The staff member also refused to apologize, stating that I was wrong.
This is not just a service failure. It reflects a serious lack of transparency, internal alignment, and respect toward guests.
I strongly question the reliability of the information provided by this hotel. This experience raises serious concerns about how this hotel represents its rooms and handles customer complaints.

I expected more from this hotel.
The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of Barcelona, but unfortunately, the service did not live up to our expectations.
We stayed for 5 days, and the toiletries were never replenished. The room was small, outdated, and in need of renovation. The service at the bar was also not very good.
It’s sad, because with such a great location, this hotel could offer a much better experience.

Second time this year spending 3-4 days here. Perfect location to get anywhere easily. Love they have elevators and a rooftop area to relax and have a drink. The front desk staff are wonderful and very helpful.
Barcelona is a very walkable city. Don't miss this restaurant area near the hotel. To get there walk left out of the hotel front door, go two blocks. There you can go left our right where there will be dozens of sidewalk restaurants running the entire center of the street either way you turn. What an area. If you go left a few blocks it ends at Plaza Cataluna at the start of the Ramblas. Don't eat on the Ramblas, just tourist restaurants. BUT do go to the market on The Ramblas, don't miss it.

The only good thing about this place is the location , the staff need to be asked to do the per minimum , the rooms need to be upgraded , the shower falls when you close the water in room 315 , train your staff and take care of them more so they will have enthusiasm in the service.
When i checked out i meet ms. Alexandra she is the nicest one there, so kind and helpful she even helped me with my bags ! Even though its not her job.

Very bad experience. I left an item in my room and tried to coordinate with the hotel to have it shipped to me in Lisbon. The staff were slow to respond and attempted to charge €80 to ship it. I ultimately paid €30 for a courier to pick it up because the hotel was reluctant to even print the shipping label. The level of customer service was extremely disappointing.
Joeli Mischke★★☆☆☆
Cold, inhospitable front desk attendants (across two different days/different shifts). Seemingly rude/dismissive of the use of Castillean Spanish in conversation, and then showing little warmth when greeted subsequently in Catalan. The room stunk. Actually smelled bad. Only to determine on my own it was a foul bed covering. Left it out on balcony for remainder of stay. Overall, Barcelona was grimy, dirty and a major let down, not just the pathetic experience here at a "4-star" establishment.

We had a very pleasant stay in June 2026. The hotel itself is very charming and full of character, great architecture!
The rooms were spacious , however the air conditioning wasn’t working so we were a bit hot but other than that we were very satisfied . Staff were very pleasant and helpful . Great location everything was walking distance and enough choice in restaurants and bars .

A lovely boutique hotel with a great staff. My room was neat and clean with lots of shelf space. Even the wardrobe had enough room to store hanging clothes with a safe. The bathroom was separated and spacious. The rain head shower had plenty of hot water and water pressure. My balcony was precious and enough room to enjoy my free coffee and fresh baked croissant in the morning. They even offered slippers, a very nice touch. The pillowtop bed was very comfortable and a menu if you wanted different or more pillows. Another added bonus was a water bottle station and a freezer full of ice. If you forgot your water bottle, they will sell one for €4. The only downside was no fridge in the room but they did store my medicine in a fridge at the front desk. A truly beautiful hotel in a very accessible area. I would stay again. Thank you for a lovely time in Barcelona.
Lisa and Mike Bedard★★★★★
The family room and bathroom were very spacious for our family of 4. The location was central to all of the activities we enjoyed for 3 days and also had easy access to the metro stations. We enjoyed the terrace, morning coffee and croissants.
The shower in the room we stayed in did not have an enclosure so the water was hard to contain to just the shower area. The air conditioning did not work at full capacity during our stay when the weather was very warm. We had it turned to 17 degrees for the duration of our stay and we were still uncomfortable in the room. The cleaning staff entered every day without knocking which was a surprise. They did not return when we were enjoying the city, so we did not have any service during our stay.
The front desk staff was always helpful and very friendly. They were kind when our room wasn't ready at the 3:00 check-in time. When we accessed the room at 4:00, the floor was still damp from being freshly mopped but it was not clean. I found a dust mop in the hallway and used it to clean the remaining debris from our floor prior to unpacking. It was a bit of a disappointing arrival. For 350 euro/ night I would have hoped for a little better service in general.

Called four times - immediate bad sign: "Hotel Continental Can You Hold?" No chance to answer.
Finally I go through - she seemed very aggravated.
She quoted me $279 and when i mentioned the web site had a rate of $199 she said I was lying or had the wrong hotel - I wasn't and I didn't. I booked two nights at $199 per night on the web site. Drove all the way there and at check in the rate changed to $299 for the second night because they said "rates aren't guaranteed".
They are WAY understaffed, and it is very disorganized. Not a good look.
The woman working there was so very rude!
What a shame and what a wasted opportunity to wow people.
Do they know there are hundreds of other choices in Barcelona?

The worst hotel I've ever stayed at.
A disappointing hotel. I booked a double room and they gave me a single. They didn't offer me any alternatives or solutions. I've never had an experience like this before. It was awful.
The room was like a sardine can. Just a bed with no chair or space to move around.
The bed was uncomfortable, the sheets were pilled, and the pillows were like rocks. I wouldn't go back even if it were free.

I would recommend you don’t stay here if you’re looking for true and honest service. I unfortunately had a horrible experience. I was there in the summer and paid good money for a room that was advertised with air conditioning. Upon my arrival, I was told that the a/c was not working. Well, it turns out that it was NEVER meant to function. I stayed there for a week and there was absolutely no communication offered to give me a discount, give me a different room with services I paid for or have a technician repair it immediately. Then I was charged an extra conversion fee on my credit card upon paying them because they were unable to communicate which option is best for the consumer. The shower design is thee worst I’ve ever experienced, it’s about 12-14 feet in height and with a shower head that was never going to reach your body. You have to leave the room key with them when you leave the hotel and wake them up to allow entry upon returning. By far, the most uncomfortable option since it’s intrusive on your privacy. Use your money elsewhere if you can. The only thing positive for this place is the location being central to public transit.

Stayed twice. Do not recommend.
First time with an ok room (old but still good price value). Had bits on my arm, probably bed bugs.
Second time it was a horrible night. Room (maximum 9 sqm) was not clean with black hair on the floor and dust. The window to the inner area couldn’t legt open as there are vents that stink. You hear all the noise from the reception and the water flow from other rooms.
When I asked about another room, the host was quite rude “you booked the lowest category, that is what you get”. The next day she asked if I am ok, but that’s too late.
Spencer Congdon★★★★★
We really enjoyed our stay here. From the start, the wooden lift is full of character and the entryway is brightly lit. Staff was very friendly and our room had a tall window opening out over the street. The beds are comfortable, everything is clean, and the small bathroom is modern and well stocked. The neighbourhood is fairly commercial, but there are Gaudi buildings nearby and the metro is right outside your door.
The only warning I'd give is that the building is not (to my knowledge) great for those with accessibility issues. There are some mandatory steps at the front entrance and the elevators are quite small.
Still, it will suit others well and we'd definitely consider returning here!
Rosa Ruiz★★★★★
I had a great stay here! I stayed in a room with one bed, a small desk, and my own bathroom, which I loved. The room had its own heat pump you could control. It was INCREDIBLY clean (I walked in the common area with no shoes) and fairly quiet, though I'm a deep sleeper so not much bothers me. Location was great, right next to a major train station. The staff was very friendly. No kitchen/common area but that wasn't an issue for me. The one odd thing is that you can't take your room key with you so you need to ring the doorbell to be let into the building every time, but I was able to come in early (~8am) after my morning run with no issue, and the owner told me she waits for the last guest to come home so I assume coming back late isn't a problem either. I will be staying here next time I come to Barcelona!
Val Veny★★★★★
Hostel Olivia was such a nice stay! The location is perfect – only about 5–8 minutes to La Rambla, with shopping (Zara, H&M, Uniqlo), supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl, Supermercat), and plenty of restaurants all around. Couldn’t be better. The hostel is run by two ladies; one doesn’t speak English, but the other does – and she was honestly the sweetest person, always smiling and super friendly.
Rooms were very clean and well-kept, with TVs available, and housekeeping was excellent – they never disturbed and always waited until you left before cleaning. Oh and the elevator is something really special you have to witness for your own - one of kind, very precious and cute.
The only tiny “downside” is that you can’t take the keys with you, so you have to ring the bell each time you return. Not a real problem, but when I came back late at 5 a.m., I felt like I was disturbing them. But that's just me, this isn't a downside.
Overall, I’d still give it a full 5/5. Great value, very friendly, and I’d definitely come back if I stay in Barcelona again.

A very disappointing experience.
I was told to collect my luggage before 5:00 PM, so I arrived at 3:50 PM. However, there was no one at reception, and I hadn't received any access code to enter or retrieve my luggage.
I called the emergency number several times, but no one answered, and it was impossible to leave a message.
The hotel later admitted that its staff had unexpectedly left the reception desk and apologized, without offering any compensation. Even worse, they initially claimed that I hadn't tried to contact them. After I provided proof of my calls, they then claimed to have received no messages, even though their emergency line doesn't allow voicemails.
Poorly organized, no assistance, and dishonest customer service. I almost missed my flight and couldn't retrieve my luggage! It was a guest who opened the door for me by chance!

We had a wonderful time here - the staff members were all very friendly and helpful, the room was great (we chose to book a room with a cathedral view, which was lovely). Room types were clearly communicated on their website, and we chose to book the cathedral room. There is some noise, but you should expect that in a central, city location like this - and I was actually impressed with how much noise the glass balcony doors filtered out when closed. We slept very well.
We booked directly on their website (which you should always do!) and they gave us complimentary access to the mini bar (one stocking of it) for doing so. A unique perk!
Location was great, with the full acknowledgement that it's a highly concentrated tourism area. You can easily walk around the Gothic Quarter and El Born from the hotel, and you also have nearby access to the metro, which we utilized via an Hola Barcelona card, which we found really easy. We also walked down to the beach in Barcelonetta, which is a bit longer of a walk, but a pleasant one.

The hotel is beautifuly decorated. Premium finishes in the lobby, restaurant and rooms. The rooftop bar is absolutely beautiful. Location is in a premium spot, but it is exceptionally busy around the hotel. We were awoken all through the night, multiple nights in a row by delivery trucks parked right outside our room. The hotel staff was very good about moving us to a different room after the first night. The second room was just as noisy. I have never, ever, stayed in a hotel that was as noisy as this one. I am not referring to other guests making noise in the hallway. This would be normal, and expected.
There are better value hotels, within a few minutes walk of this location that would be a better option for your money. We spent top dollar to stay at this hotel and feel we overpaid.

And a huge thank you to Chus for her incredible kindness, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail with the guests. Such genuine service and human warmth are really hard to find these days.

The breakfast was the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel ever! Our room didn't have a view but was still very nice. The staff was all excellent and location was really nice in the gothic quarters. Would absolutely stay here again!! The shower had excellent water pressure and the room even had a good blow dryer! Loved my stay here!

Beautiful Hotel with modern amenities, super clean, quiet and great staff.
Overall beautiful Hotel! Would absolutely stay here again.
Beautiful lobby, staff is all super nice and helpful, very accommodating for luggage hold (great for an early arrival), rooms are all newer, clean and very updated. Amazing balcony views as well right from your room. Open the door and stand out on your balcony.
5 star rating for overall appearance, cleanliness and stay. Loved it!!
Location is directly across from Barcelona Cathedral which offers amazing views, great vibe, great dining along with easy access to many tours, shopping dining and of course the Catedral de Barcelona, which was absolutely stunning! (what a great Cathedral, must see!)
The outdoor restaurant has a great view of the Cathedral and is great to relax, grab a drink or tapas after the Cathedral. Its clean, covered for shade and very relaxing.
Rooftop; Visited the rooftop bar which offers impressive views and an alternate option. The rooftop is open to the public at a cost. As a guest you dont have to pay and you are prioritized seating. One suggestion I have is the music/dj was super loud so hard to enjoy conversation. We stayed for a little bit for the experience.
Breakfast and Food: they do a great job with presentation and what they offer. Great dining experience to take in also some local options. It's an overall better quality of eating and dining experience than in the US. (That can be said for alot..well actually most of places in Europe)
We really liked our stay and experience alot at Hotel Lamaro. Wish we had more time than 1 night.
Thanks to all the staff for making our stay wonderful.

This is not a true five-star hotel based upon my experience. This is an old building modified into fancy hotel and it honestly feels tacky and cheap. I stayed here as a part of the AMEX Hotel Collection to get the extra benefits. I checked in early to drop off my luggage and enjoy my day. They said they would text me when my room was available, but they never did. The AC only works on an ECO mode, so it is very slow to work. The bathtub does not offer a fully enclosed shower door or curtain, so the bathroom gets soaked everytime you shower. Bed was not that comfortable. All of the furniture was run down and given the landlord treatment by being painted over multiple times. Hardwood floors and thin walls meant I could hear all walking and everything being said in the building, even with my noise cancellation machines setup. I will say the place was clean and safe with 24/7 security in the lobby. The building is secured because you need a key to get up the elevator. It's in the heart of the city so you can access a lot by foot or transportation. I don't know if this is a normal 5 star hotel experience but I would imagine there are others out there that would offer a better well-rounded experience.

Definitely not a 5 star hotel. We waited 40 minutes to get our car from parking and ended up doing it ourselves. When we came back, no one was available to park the car. We booked 2 rooms and got the first floor, one room had air conditioning units as its view and the other room smelled like sewer coming from the bathroom. Would definitely not stay at this hotel again.

Barcelona Eleven Terrace was easily one of the highlights of my time in the city. The drinks were exceptional! The atmosphere is just as impressive: stylish, relaxed, and with a view that makes you want to stay for hours. It strikes that perfect balance between lively and comfortable.
What truly made the experience stand out, though, was the service — especially Imran. He was attentive without being overbearing, genuinely friendly, and gave great recommendations. You can tell he really cares about the guest experience, and it makes a big difference.
Definitely a place I’d come back to and recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona.

We had a wonderful stay at NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderón. The hotel was in a fantastic location, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the service throughout our stay was excellent.
A special thank you to Milouda from the breakfast restaurant. She went above and beyond every morning to make us feel welcome. She was always so kind, friendly, and incredibly helpful, especially with our family. Her warm smile and exceptional service made our breakfasts even more enjoyable and truly stood out during our stay.
Thank you, Milouda, for making our experience so memorable. You are a real asset to the NH Collection team. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona.

I’m disappointed with my stay at this so-called 5-star hotel. The only positive thing is its location, which is convenient—but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The hotel itself is quite small and falls far short of what you would expect from a luxury property. The room was not properly cleaned, and there was visible mold in the shower—completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming a 5-star standard.
While these issues were already frustrating, the worst part of the experience was the room service. We placed an order during dinner time and were told it would arrive by 9:30 PM. We specifically chose room service because we were jet-lagged and wanted to eat quickly and get some rest. Instead, we waited until 10:15 PM with no food delivered and no meaningful update. The food finally arrived around 10:30 PM. The tray with dirty dishes was left outside our room on the floor and remained there for two days—until we checked out. During that time, housekeeping and other staff passed by multiple times, yet no one took the initiative to remove the dirty dishes. Even if it wasn’t their direct responsibility, the lack of coordination or basic service awareness is surprising—at the very least, someone could have notified the appropriate team.
This level of service and lack of accountability is simply unacceptable, especially from a hotel that markets itself as upscale.
If you’re expecting a clean, comfortable, and truly 5-star experience, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

We stayed here for a few nights at the beginning of our trip and for one night at the end before leaving. Overall it was a good stay, but we really did not like the rooms, especially for the price paid. The headboard pillars are huge and take up a lot of walking space and makes the room feel cramped with your luggage. Most importantly there is NO bathroom door, and the doors for the shower and toilet are mirrored AND see through. We stayed at two other Room Mate locations (Granada and Malaga) and loved those rooms as the styling was simpler and had nicer bathrooms with a proper door. We probably wouldn’t stay here again in the future unless we really wanted to be in that location (which is really convenient and nice) but definitely would stay at the other room mate locations.

Very friendly and helpful staff and excellent rooms! We loved the unique decoration throughout, and enjoyed the rooftop restaurant and (tiny) pool. The location is also super convenient. I will stay here again in future visits to Barcelona.

Stayed here for four nights and couldn’t fault the location — perfectly placed for exploring the city on foot. The staff were consistently friendly and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Rooms were clean, modern and well-presented, with a seriously comfortable bed that made for great nights’ sleep after long days out.
The hotel has a rooftop bar and pool which looked fantastic, though we didn’t get the chance to make use of them as the weather was on the cooler side during our visit. We had breakfast at the hotel on two mornings — we were there for the MotoGP weekend so had early starts, and the spread was impressive with a really good selection to choose from. A nice touch having complimentary bottled water in the room too.
Would happily stay again and would recommend to anyone visiting.

The bathroom had a terrible smell and did not feel clean! It’s smelled like the sewer system. The room was extremely small and dusty as well. I definitely do not think this is a four star hotel. Convenient location

I had a wonderful stay at Room Mate Anna in Barcelona, and once again this hotel chain did not disappoint. I always enjoy staying at Room Mate hotels.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The rooms had everything needed for a relaxing stay, and the bed was especially comfortable. The rooms are quite small but this did not bother me at all.
What truly made the experience special was the personnel. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, always with a smile and ready to assist with anything we needed.
One of the highlights is definitely the beautiful rooftop terrace, which offers a fantastic view of Casa Batlló. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and take in one of Gaudí’s masterpieces from above.
Overall, another excellent experience with Room Mate. Perfect location, great comfort, and amazing staff. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona.

The location is absolutely wonderful. The outdoor balcony gets great afternoon sun. A couple of blankets to wrap around us on cold days would be nice.
I would like to suggest a couple of hooks for bath towels in the bathroom and more hangers for the closets. Also, the display on the microwave is broken making it hard to use.

Very comfortable, clean and spacious apartment with everything we needed for our stay in Barcelona. Great location in Eixample area and walking distance to everything. Very easy check in process and helpful information from Aspasios for our stay here. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

We loved staying here. The location was perfect, walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and local attractions. The apartment itself was perfect for us and our toddler son. It was immaculately clean, and the amenities like the washer came in very handy with a little one. The few times we had questions we were able to get answers very quickly! Overall the experience was fantastic and I would love to stay here again.
Tips for Choosing the Perfect Stay Near Casa Milà
Selecting a hotel in the Eixample requires balancing your desire for proximity with your need for peace and quiet. While being right on Passeig de Gràcia is glamorous, the street can be busy with traffic and pedestrians well into the night. Here are a few expert tips to ensure you book a room that meets your expectations for comfort, access, and value.
Prioritize Soundproofing and Room Orientation
When booking a hotel on or near Passeig de Gràcia, pay close attention to room categories. A room facing the main avenue will offer stunning views of the city lights, but it may come with street noise. If you are a light sleeper, request an interior-facing room or a room on a higher floor. Modern hotels in this district often have excellent double-glazing, but reading recent guest reviews specifically about noise levels is always a wise move before confirming your reservation.
Look for Rooftop Access
One of the unique joys of staying in the Eixample is the view. Because the district is laid out in a uniform grid with chamfered corners, the skyline is a sea of geometric rooftops punctuated by church spires and Gaudí’s chimneys. Many hotels near Casa Milà feature rooftop terraces or pools. Even if you don’t book a room with a view of La Pedrera itself, having a communal rooftop bar or pool area allows you to soak in the atmosphere of the city from above.
Check for On-Site Dining and Late Check-Out
While you are surrounded by some of the best tapas bars in Barcelona, having a quality restaurant inside your hotel is a valuable convenience. After a long day of walking through the Sagrada Familia or shopping on Rambla de Catalunya, you may not want to venture far for dinner. Additionally, if your itinerary includes a visit to La Pedrera at night (which is a spectacular light show), a hotel with flexible check-out or luggage storage will let you enjoy the experience without worrying about your bags.
Understand the "Eixample" Advantage
Travelers often debate whether to stay in the Gothic Quarter or the Eixample. While the Gothic Quarter offers medieval charm, the Eixample offers space and elegance. Sidewalks here are significantly wider, restaurants have outdoor terraces, and the streets feel less claustrophobic. If you value a quiet night’s sleep and easy access to high-end boutiques, staying near Casa Milà is vastly superior to the winding, echoing alleys of the Old City.
Book Tickets in Advance
Because you are staying so close to La Pedrera, it is tempting to simply walk up and buy a ticket. However, entry queues can be long, especially during peak season. Since you are staying nearby, you have the advantage of visiting early in the morning or during the late afternoon when crowds are thinner. Purchase your timed-entry tickets online before your trip to ensure you don’t waste precious vacation time standing in line.
The area surrounding Casa Milà offers more than just a place to sleep; it provides an immersive dive into the luxury and artistry that define modern Barcelona. By choosing a hotel within this radius, you ensure that the magic of the city is quite literally on your doorstep, allowing you to wander home after a late dinner with the illuminated chimneys of Gaudí guiding your way.
Whether you select a grand palace hotel or a minimalist boutique room, staying in this neighborhood guarantees that your visit to Barcelona will be as seamless as it is memorable. The convenience of the location allows you to spend less time commuting and more time experiencing the vibrant rhythm of Catalan life.
