12 Best Tourist Attractions in Torrevieja

Torrevieja is a sun-drenched coastal city on Spain’s Costa Blanca, famous for its unique microclimate and expansive salt lakes. While many travelers know it for its beaches, the area offers a surprisingly diverse range of cultural, natural, and historical attractions. From underground caves to bustling marinas, this destination provides year-round interest for visitors of all ages.

Exploring the city reveals a fascinating blend of traditional Spanish fishing heritage and modern tourist amenities. Unlike purely purpose-built resorts, Torrevieja has a genuine working soul, visible in its daily fish auctions and local festivals. Whether you are visiting for a weekend or planning a long-term stay, you will find that the area extends far beyond the shoreline.

One of the most compelling reasons to visit is the sheer variety of experiences packed into a compact area. You can spend the morning floating in a pink lake, the afternoon hiking coastal cliffs, and the evening dining on fresh seafood. This accessibility makes it an ideal base for exploring the southern Alicante province.

For nature lovers, the region is a hidden gem, home to rare bird species and protected parklands. For families, there are interactive museums and safe, shallow beaches. Meanwhile, history buffs will appreciate the watchtowers and salt industry infrastructure that shaped the local economy.

Planning your itinerary requires understanding that Torrevieja is more than a summer beach town. The salt lakes, for example, are a natural wonder that many tourists overlook. These lakes not only contribute to the city’s healthy air but also create a landscape that feels almost otherworldly.

Because the city is relatively flat and well-connected, getting around is easy by foot, bicycle, or local bus. Many attractions are clustered near the port or along the coastal promenades, allowing you to combine sightseeing with leisurely strolls. The local tourism office provides excellent maps that highlight the main points of interest.

To help you make the most of your visit, we have curated a list of the most rewarding stops. These recommendations balance popular favorites with lesser-known spots that showcase the authentic character of the city. Below, you will find the essential places to add to your travel plans.

We took the salt train but unfortunately the tour was only inside the salt area. It took 30 minutes but cost the same as the whole trip from the center to the production. 🙃The guide spoke good English and was nice!
Floriana Cornelia Nuica★★★★★
Nice experience, it worth to go ones there. The staff who sell the tickets very rude and didn't offer any information, just took the money and that's it
Tom Leivers★★★★★
A good attraction if visiting town giving the history of Torrevieja and it's salt production. You get to go inside the salt works and see the piles of salt and the methods of harvesting it. The guide was very well informed and helpful. It's only an hour but worth it in my opinion. There's also a little shop to buy products made with salt.
Julia Suhaia★★★★★
Come here just to breathe this salty air and touch the lake water, after which your hands are so smooth like after superspa! before sunset should be great time for photoshoots. Interesting to hear facts about this place, it's definitely unique and worth seeing. I would extend excursion program and give some more maybe visual interactive information about salt producing.
lyndira oudit★★★★★
I chose the 8 pm time ...great sunset colours on lake...and the birds start nesting around that time...worth it...good history in both Spanish and English.

It's a salt lake, not much to it but it's nice and offers some unique opportunity to bath in really salt water. It would be nice if the city provided better guiding where to park, main entrance?, showers? It seems to be just a lake without any organisation around it.
Titchy Traveller★★★★★
Absolutely stunning. What an incredible experience. This isn't somewhere you could spend long on a hot day, we visited on an extremely hot day. However, to see the lake in the sunshine with its vibrant pink hues is wonderful. Truly wonderful. The walk to it from the roadside is fine, but with hot & bothered younger children it can feel like a mission. Definitely worth it though.
Anna Polom★★★★☆
The Pink Lake is worth a quick stop if you’re already in the area, but it’s not something I’d go out of my way for. While it can look interesting, the colour isn’t always as vibrant as you might expect. There’s also very little to actually do once you arrive—most people just spend a short time taking photos and then move on. Overall, it’s a nice bonus sight if it’s nearby, but probably not worth a long journey on its own. I think swimming here is prohibited. Plenty of parking in nearby roads.
Mos Valdez★★☆☆☆
It wasn't pink, would've needed se drone to view from the Sky. Few flamingos but they don't come close.... and there are very few spots to watch it (without going to tourist spots that cost something and are open only part of the time). It is pretty much fenced and blocked from every direction, like those orange fields on the shores. Not a place to visit easily. And itse muddy on the beach. Nobody has put any effort into showing it to tourists
karl haycock★★★☆☆
So... Walked an hour from Playa de Los locos out this way. Was thinking when I headed out "now, this'll be lovely, so it will, I'll get some lunch out that way with a view, perhaps a nice coffee and a view, maybe even a slice of carrot cake and a view". It was a fine walk across roads, slip roads, construction sites. After 40 mins I realised that a load of people had the forethought to rent a scooter but now I... I was committed. O'er roundabout and roundabout I ventured.. Google maps counting down the distance... 35 mins... 20... 25.. I took a wrong turn.... 15... 10... 5... And I had arrived! Passing through a broken down fence, through some scrub land I was here... I had arrived. The last challenge was navigating through the mud and sinkholes, 2 of which were filled to the brim with water... Yet, there was no carrot cake nor a cafe nor even parking though there were multitudes of people coming and going after my 5 minute view of the lake and my 20 minute wait for an Uber... If anyone wants to invest in ACTUALLY making this a tourist site, I'd love to partner! I'm an ideas guy though, so if you could ya know, do the investing, that'd be swell! Positive Vibes Always, Karl

Parque de las Naciones is a lovely spot to spend a few hours. Well maintained, spacious, and the lake area gives it a really relaxed atmosphere. Great for a morning walk or a lazy afternoon with the family. The paths are clean, there's plenty of shade, and the surroundings are nicely landscaped. Kids have room to run around and it never feels too crowded even on weekends. One of those parks that reminds you how much a good green space adds to a city. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
G Whizz★★★★★
We visited Parque de las Naciones in Torrevieja two weeks ago and found it to be a pleasant, slightly unusual green space in the middle of the city. The highlight is the large lake shaped like a map of Europe — a quirky feature that gives the park a unique character. The surrounding areas are peaceful, with palm trees, wide paths and plenty of ducks, geese and other birds wandering freely around the water. It’s not a modern or perfectly maintained park, but it still has a relaxed, natural charm and is a nice place for a quiet stroll, especially around sunset. The flagpoles, small islands and water areas make it a bit different from the typical urban park experience. Overall, a calm and interesting spot to take a walk or unwind away from the busier parts of Torrevieja.
Jord Shaw★★★★★
Gorgeous park with lots of animals. Resident peacock and a load of ducks and chickens make it a nice spot to sit in the shade.
Tim Clearly★★★★★
Nice place, quiet. Nice to sit and watch ducks or peacocks walking freely in the park. The impression is a bit spoiled by the noise from the busy road adjacent to the park.
Simona Moravanska★★★★★
Super nice park for a walk and relax by the lake. There are many animals, such as peacocks, roosters, hens… Also great for kids since there’s also a big playground

Torrevieja has a lovely beach and lots to offer, like great food, affordable salon services nearby, beautiful dresses and accessories. I also found unique earrings made by an artist who recycles plastic into beautiful pieces with natural stones, vibrant colors and lightweight designs, making them easy to wear. 😻

A very beautiful beach with clean water and stunning views. Paseo Juan Aparicio is a popular spot, so there are lots of tourists, especially during the season. Great for relaxing and walking by the sea.

I walked from my hotel to the Paseo and loved being back here. I took a few shots of the sea and pier nearby. The sun was starting to shine more brightly through the haze.

Today, 28.08.2026, we have made a wonderful trip with Torrevieja Trainvision to Laguna Rose. It was a remarkable experience! Our guide Mario was not only perfect in both languages - Spanish and English, but also very knowledgeable and full of humor! We had enough time to make plenty of beautiful pictures, walk through the salty mountains, enjoying Laguna Rosa and even spotting a fee Flamingos!🦩 At the end of the trip we have visited a shop with different products from Torrevieja Salt Mines as well as souvenirs relevant for the region! Thanks a lot to Torrevieja Trainvision as well as our remarkable guide Mario for an unforgettable experience!
Kinbex★★★★☆
Train was shaking a bit and a bit noisy, so the information shared in the speaker about the Salinas history was not clear, maybe it could be louder so we can hear everything. The visit at the Salinas is interesting, the information shared are interesting, especially the guy at the Salinas is very entertaining, clear, informative. The Salinas itself is nice to see, the pink lake and the mountains of salts.. There is also a short stop for pictures at the lake, and a final one for shopping with fleur de Sal, salt flakes, soap of salt for scrub. Flamingo Keychain and plush but no flamingos in the lake, they are only at the LA Mata lake. Here only seagulls. The tour lasts 1h and 15 minutes. Actually you csn go walking from the city to it because it's very close but if you don't pay the train you will miss the explanation, the history etc. So it's OK in the end. Maybe 7 eur would be a better price instead of 10.
Teresa O★★★★☆
It was quite nice, we did not see flamingos from close proximity, but the tour guide gave lots of information and place is worth visiting

Rubbish not worth the money went from Torrevieja town straight to salt lake which is only 5 minutes on the train and back spent 45 minutes at the salt lake and then to take to the shop didn’t see anything what is shown on the map all a con don’t go

We had such a wonderful experience! The tour was informative, and the guide made the whole hour truly enjoyable. Everything was well organized, welcoming, and exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend if you're in Torrevieja by the Beach!

Amazing experience! The team was professional, friendly, and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the whole ride. Everything was well organized and the parasailing itself was unforgettable. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Torrevieja! 🪂

We had an amazing experience with this parasailing company on last Saturday! We booked and paid online in advance, and everything went exactly according to schedule The whole organization was smooth and stress-free. One thing we really appreciated was the possibility to fly as three people together – it made the experience even more special and fun for our group. It was also great that the people who didn’t want to parasail could still join us on the boat for a lower ticket price. The crew on the boat was absolutely fantastic – super friendly, professional, and made everyone feel comfortable and safe. And to make the trip even more unforgettable, we were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins jumping next to the boat during the tour! Highly recommended to anyone looking for an incredible experience!
natasha pardy★★★★★
Fantastic experience, not much talking from the staff, felt a bit awkward at times but it didn't damper the experience at all.
Catherine Haughton★★☆☆☆
The parasailling was brilliant. However the driver went too fast over the waves causing us to be jolted right off our seats. We shouted at him to slow down and he didn't. I wretched my back and today I've very sore ribs. My sister her elbow that caused it to bleed. I felt in crew in general didn't engage well with the clients. Last year I parasailed in campomor which was a lovely experience. Catherine Haughton

The best time Parasailing!!!😃 the boat ride out was exhilarating too and is an experience in itself. When you are up it's so quiet and scerene. Taking in the views of the coast. We did opt for the GoPro package, but found out when we got back that the footage hadn't recorded, which I was gutted about, but we had photos taken too, which I'm glad we did. Highly recommend going such a great experience 😁

Parc Natural de La Mata-Torrevieja We visited the salt lake, which was nice to see for a while. We didn’t do much walking there since we had already done another beautiful walk near the other lake (38.02423° N, 0.66390° W). From there, we enjoyed a lovely hike through the natural surroundings and took in the peaceful scenery. We also spotted some birds, which was great to see. It’s wonderful that nature here is still so beautiful and well preserved. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area!
Alena Klepikova★★★★★
I cycled to this park from La Mata. I walked and cycled through the park itself. The far part of the park was difficult to cycle through because the roads there are poor. The park itself is beautiful, with observation booths near the lake for birdwatching. There are picnic areas, an area with benches, and a place where nearly tame squirrels live. I've been here three times and each time I found something new. It's a wonderful place to spend a few hours.
Anna Polom★★★★★
This is a place to go if you want to see flamingos ana many other birds. Large free parking and visitor centre with toilets inside. From here there's two signposted routes along the way bird watching hideouts, tower, park with picnic tables etc. I really enjoyed walking yellow route which took me about 2 hours with plenty of stops on the way
Dave Cook★★★★☆
Lovely park with various areas. Keen bouls playing too
Gabor Kerecsen★★★★★
Spectacular view, if you are lucky enough to see a sunset here. The water is not deep at all, but if you go into the water barefoot, your feet get cuts and the salt will make sure you regret not preparing well enough. Beware! 😊

A lovely little park that doesn't get enough attention. Quiet, clean, and well looked after — the kind of neighbourhood green space that makes everyday life better. Great for a morning walk or a relaxed evening stroll. The seating areas are well placed and the greenery is kept in good shape. Felt safe and peaceful throughout. Not the biggest park but it has a charm to it that bigger spots sometimes lack. A solid spot for locals and a pleasant surprise for visitors passing through.

Very pleasant park with beatiful benches and a fountain very close to the beach. And wild parrots and white pigeons are bonus there

Absolutely brilliant experience. Never tried flyboarding before and the team at Flyboard Torrevieja made it so easy to get into. The instructor was patient, safety briefing was thorough, and before long I was actually getting off the water. The feeling is unlike anything else — genuinely one of the most fun things I've done on a trip. Equipment was in great condition and the whole session was well organized. The location on the water in Torrevieja makes it even better. If you're visiting and want to do something memorable, skip the usual tourist stuff and book this. Worth every penny.

Very good
Marcus Bögl★★★★★
Good parking is available in the paid underground garage in front of the shop. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Discounts are offered for groups. The prices for jet skis and flyboards are the most affordable in Torrevieja. The safety briefings and personal protective equipment, such as helmets and life jackets, are modern and safe. The jet skis are modern with plenty of horsepower and strong acceleration. You have the opportunity to really push the jet skis to their limits! Flyboarding is challenging for beginners, but you have enough time to develop your skills. The staff is very patient, and you're even offered drinks while you're in the dinghy. It's a fantastic experience and highly recommended.

This place was a rather unique find 🙂 Speaking only English, we didn’t get any tour guide, we instead scanned a QR code with audio descriptions. Those were good, not too basic nor too overcomplicated, they were just right length. You can visit two boats and one submarine, most if not all of their interior rooms. There are some extra exhibits outside. We visited on a calmer day so we didn’t have to wait around for people to pass. For us the visit was free with optional donation, the entrance guy was nice and treated us well.
Alison B★★★★★
Not your typical museum visit and that's exactly what makes it special. Stepping inside a real submarine is a genuinely unique experience — cramped quarters, real equipment, and a fascinating look into naval history that no textbook can replicate. The exhibits inside are well laid out and informative without overwhelming you. You really get a sense of what life on board must have been like. The staff were knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Affordable entry and well worth every penny. Whether you're into military history or just looking for something different to do in Valencia, this one stands out. Highly recommended.
Tricia Monique★★★★★
It was a great experience to be inside a real submarine. You don't only get to visit the submarine but also the 2 other ships beside it. It was for free.
Pascal F★★★★★
A really unexpected experience in Torrevieja! You can enter 2 coast guard boats and a submarine. Everywhere there are many rooms and you get a complete overview including kitchens, bedrooms, machine rooms. Unique and definitely worth the 2 EUR entrance fee!
Aurel Dumitrescu★★★★☆
Nice place! Very interesting place and not very crowded either, at opening times. My son enjoyed it. Important - they do not allow children under 110 cm to visit! However - one very unpleasant thing - the guy doing the tours is very unpleasant and rude. He either has a problem with tourists or he was bothered by our presence when he was trying to do some sort of private tour to some Spanish friends of his. Very unpleasant individual that should not be employed in a position where he has to deal with people and tourists / clients especially.

Torrevieja is a young city, so the authorities have invested heavily in sculptures and monuments to enhance the cultural value of this place. The staging commemorates musicians who performed here in years past. The sculpture was created in 2002, and bravo!

Hello everyone, this zoo is absolutely awful. Aside from the high entrance fee, the animals weren't kept in species-appropriate conditions, with no water or food in enclosures that were far too small. Most of the vending machines were broken, and there were only two snack bars. The restaurants were closed. There was a small water park, which was okay. There were hardly any animals to see, and those that were there were in poor condition. Of course, that's to be expected when you keep five lions in an enclosure of maybe 200 square meters. It's a wonder this zoo hasn't been shut down by conservationists yet.
Radek Ścibiorek★★★★★
An interesting place in Torrevieja, worth planning as a place for walking.
Linchu★★★★☆
Eye-catching metal sculptures with a high level of detail. They represent various wind and percussion instruments. A very interesting spot for taking a photo. They enhance the end of the modern promenade with its benches and shade provided by the side dome. It's usually very busy.

Tips for Visiting Torrevieja

To enjoy Torrevieja like a local, it helps to understand the rhythm of the city and a few practical details. These tips will save you time, money, and potential frustration while ensuring you experience the best the area has to offer. Keep these suggestions in mind as you organize your daily excursions.

First, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of late spring or early autumn. The weather remains warm enough for swimming, but the crowds are thinner and accommodation prices drop significantly. July and August can be intensely hot and busy, making outdoor sightseeing less comfortable.

Second, wear sturdy footwear, even if you plan to spend most of your time on the sand. Many coastal paths, such as those near the watchtowers or natural pools, involve walking on uneven rock. Flip-flops are fine for the beach but unsuitable for exploring the cliffs or salt lake trails.

Third, use the local tourist train or public buses to connect the northern and southern beaches. Parking near popular coves can be difficult during peak hours. The urban bus network is affordable and reliable, allowing you to avoid the stress of finding a spot for your rental car.

Fourth, bring a reusable water bottle and sun protection, as the sun reflects strongly off the salt lakes and white buildings. Hydration is essential, especially if you are walking between the port and the natural parks. Many public fountains and beachfront kiosks offer refill opportunities.

Fifth, learn a few basic Spanish phrases, particularly greetings and numbers. While many hospitality workers speak English, smaller shops and traditional tapas bars appreciate the effort. It often leads to warmer service and better recommendations from locals.

Exploring Torrevieja offers a rewarding mix of relaxation and discovery that appeals to a wide range of travelers. The city’s compact layout means you can transition from a historic museum to a natural salt lagoon within minutes. This convenience allows you to create a flexible itinerary without spending hours in transit.

Ultimately, the best way to experience the city is to balance structured sightseeing with spontaneous wandering. Walk along the marina at sunset, try a local tapas bar away from the main strip, and allow time to simply sit and watch the fishing boats. By doing so, you will understand why so many visitors return year after year.
