15 Best Hotels in Oviedo City Centre

Finding the right base for a city break can make or break your entire trip. Oviedo, the elegant capital of Asturias, offers a unique blend of medieval architecture, modern gastronomy, and a distinct, slightly magical atmosphere. While the surrounding countryside is stunning, staying in the city centre puts you right in the middle of the action.

The historic core of Oviedo is remarkably walkable, defined by its car-free streets, ornate fountains, and the famous bronze statues that dot the old town. By booking a hotel in the centre, you are essentially trading the hassle of taxis and parking for the convenience of stepping directly out into the vibrant Plaza de la Constitución. It is the smartest choice for those who want to maximize their time exploring.

However, "city centre" in Oviedo spans a few distinct zones, each with its own personality. From the bustling shopping streets near Calle Uría to the quieter, atmospheric lanes surrounding the Cathedral of San Salvador, the location of your hotel will dictate the rhythm of your stay. Whether you are here for the cider houses, the pre-Romanesque monuments, or the bustling nightlife, location is everything.

The hospitality scene in Oviedo has evolved significantly in recent years. You will find everything from grand, historic hotels housed in converted palaces to sleek, modern boutiques designed for contemporary travelers. Many properties seamlessly blend Asturian tradition—think dark woods, local stone, and warm textiles—with the amenities that international visitors expect.

Choosing the right accommodation is about more than just a place to sleep; it is about curating an experience. Do you want a view of the Campoamor Theatre, a room with a hydromassage tub after a long day of walking, or a family-run establishment where the staff knows your name by breakfast? The options are diverse enough to cater to every taste and budget.

To help you navigate the best of the city, we have curated a list of the top properties currently leading the market in quality and location. Each hotel listed below has been selected for its exceptional reputation, proximity to major attractions, and ability to provide a memorable stay in the heart of Asturias. They represent the best balance of comfort, service, and authenticity.

Without further ado, here is our definitive guide to the absolute best places to stay in the urban core of this enchanting Spanish city.

Very good location worked well for us to get to the city center and close to bus station. What we need basic hotel perfect for the night.

Great location near the old town as well as the more modern downtown area, and the city park is only a few blocks away. The concierge and waitresses were extremely pleasant and kind to my dog and I. The rooms are a bit dated, but they aren't too bad at all for the price. They were clean and sanitary.
Jason Chen★★★★★
I stayed here for 4 nights while preparing for the Camino de Santiago. Fantastic location, in the city center, next to grocery store (Mas y mas), and Correos (if you want to send your luggage ahead to Santiago). Bar downstairs. Basic, private rooms with a shower, bed, and TV. But luxurious if you're used to sleeping in albergues. Slow wifi. Would stay here again on my next Camino Trip!

A must when in Oviedo. Asked my mom and my first visit was a long time ago with 12 DAYS (she remembered well). A few house specialties to go and the whole family is happy. Too bad I didn't have time for cider. A smile and a wink to Homer who liked it very much!

A warm welcome awaits at this Oviedo institution sidreria and hotel in the centre of town. Taste their famous garlic chicken, ham and gravy baps, seafood and other delights washed down with lashings of Asturian sidra. Ace atmosphere and friendly, family team. Everyone loves the Ovetense.

Centrally located with a wonderfully friendly staff, this hotel provides quality budget conscious accommodation. I especially recommend it for anyone starting the Camino Primitivo!

Santiago Calatrava is known for sculptural, futuristic architecture—but Eurostars Mar de Cristal Hotel keeps things more understated, focusing on clean, modern lines and calm functionality rather than dramatic forms.

Fun looking hotel, service and staff fantastic, rooms had some issues (Couldnt work out AC, light console for bed didnt work) but still good, location good if you dont mind a bit of walking
Juan P. Bethencourt★★★☆☆
The hotel i really nice and the staff’s super friendly and really fast in case you need anything. The room was spotless each day and the beds, even though the mattresses are really generic, the room overall’s really comfy. Now, I’m giving three stars due to the breakfast, the “scrambled eggs” are watery and tasteless. You can ask for a different way of having your eggs but the line keeps growing after 5min. The coffee is not good and the machines keep breaking down. I would actually recommend the hotel as a whole, its location’s OK and the architecture is really stunning, but remember to grab some coffee and snacks to eat the next morning.

Very interesting and quirky design of hotel. There was a good choice for breakfast. The carpark was undergoing some restoration, but otherwise was very good with large spaces.

We paid around 125 Euros for a room that smells like bathroom. Avoid room 203. It has one window that overseas sewage system?! I can hear my toilet water flushing down there. It smells really bad. No fresh air. No AC. I asked for a fan and they don't provide any. The other rooms seem fine, but this place is generally not clean. They think air freshener solves everything. It doesn't

I arrived late night so send me the instructions how i get the place. I not found any receptionist, buy organised really fine. Room is small but, cozy and warm, bed is comfy. Kitchen is big and have everything what need. I like the design and really clean. Toilet and shower also really nice. Only problem the fridge is full with guest staff so no space and gave only one toilet to the shared room so morning is super busy.
Valentina Velasquez★★★★★
The services is kinda good, the reception girl is so kind and so helpful. The hostal is well it's not the best but it's close to the cathedral and cafeteria, if you want to stay a night in a peaceful place you can stay there, it's cheaper and closer to tourists places. I really said the prices is cheaper than others I stayed before so, the quality between prices and rooms is good. Love it with the service, so kind.

Highly recommended! Location: perfect, minutes to every place you want in Oviedo you will enjoy the city very much from this location. View: The most amazing view you will see everyday, watching the Cathedral of Oviedo from your balcony is something you will enjoy day and night. Rooms: very comfortable and organized with plenty of space and big toilets. Staff: very friendly and helpful for anything you need. If you want to enjoy the city I highly recommend this hotel because it’s all about the area you will stay in, it really matters. Special thanks for all the staff and front desk employees😊
Claire Rowland★★★★★
Centrally located hotel. Room was a good size as was the bathroom with large walk-in shower. Breakfast was not the best and quite basic but was sufficient. Would happily return.
Pablo Andrade★★★★☆
Great place to start the camino primitivo in oviedo. The room and facilities are a bit dated vs the photos, but overall good and a nespresso always adds a touch.
Geoff de Burca★★★☆☆
The location is the best thing about this - right in the centre, on a beautiful square close to anything you want to see. Rooms facing the square also have a view of the cathedral.
Silvia Klucarova★★★★★
Great location right in the heart of the old town, close to all the action. For a 3-star hotel, it exceeded expectations. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The room was spacious, clean, and peaceful (facing away from the street). The bed was very comfortable and easily accommodated two tall adults. The bathroom was also spacious, with soft towels and a nice-smelling shower gel and shampoo provided. A 12 noon check-out time is a fantastic perk. Overall, an excellent experience for a 3-star hotel. Highly recommended!

Extremely disappointing for a 5-star hotel. The building is historic and has character, and the location is very good. Unfortunately, those were the main positives for us. A historic building alone does not make a hotel five-star — the service, comfort, maintenance, and attention to detail should match the rating. When we arrived, there was no valet service and no one offered to help with our luggage. We had to unload the car and carry our suitcases ourselves, which is not what I expect from a five-star hotel. Our room was a good size, but the furniture was old and dated, and the carpet was visibly dirty with stains in several areas. We informed reception and were offered another room, but it was significantly smaller. The wooden floors are also very old and creak loudly. I appreciate the charm of historic buildings, but there is a difference between historic character and a property that feels tired and in need of better maintenance. Even the bathroom amenities were extremely basic — there were not even simple items such as cotton pads or cotton buds. Small details, but exactly the kind of attention you expect from a five-star property. If this were presented as a three-star historic hotel, my expectations would be completely different. But as a five-star hotel, it was extremely disappointing and, in my opinion, nowhere near the standard the rating suggests. If you are looking for a genuine five-star experience in Oviedo, I would recommend considering other options
Vasilisa Premudraya★★★★★
An incredible historic hotel for a surprisingly reasonable price The location is hard to beat. Right across from the city’s main park, so close that you can sometimes even hear the peacocks Breakfast is fairly average, but you can still find something decent. Honestly though, with a location like this, it is easier to simply go out into the city, as there are plenty of good breakfast places nearby The rooms are a bit of a lottery 😀 One stay everything is perfectly clean, the next you may find mold on the duvet cover or hair on the towels. It honestly feels like everything depends on which housekeeper is assigned to your room 🤷‍♀️ There is also a restaurant in the hotel, but it felt rather average. I cannot say the food left a strong impression. The lobby and common areas, however, are magnificent. The building itself leaves a very strong impression. We also noticed one funny thing: if you approach the staff with tips from the beginning, people suddenly become much warmer 😅 There is also a great “lazy menu” in the lobby area and a surprisingly good cocktail list. Overall, this hotel feels very alive. Chaotic at times, strange at times, but exactly because of that, it has a real

Beautiful old building. Rooms are a little dated & small but extremely comfortable & well serviced. Staff are very friendly, helpful & accommodating. 100% worth a visit for a drink in the lounge area even if you aren’t staying. Stunning historic architecture & a few beautifully preserved tapestries & antique furniture on display.

We stayed here for one night. The hotel was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious. Other than some stains on the carpet, the rooms were clean. The bed was very comfortable. There were plenty of options for breakfast. The location was perfect. We would stay here again and we would recommend.

Stayed twice, i will stay a next time, really like Oviedo and this hotel is in the very central , el corazon de ciudad. Wonderful decor , very clean , very polite and hospitable staff. really enjoy starting here , lovely ambience underground secure parking for the hotel is available too. Gracias Muchísimo

Very nice central hotell with parking and access directly from the lobby or your floor. The room was nice, bed Ok and Ok pillows being in Spain. Only minus was that we didnt have breakfast and getting coffee was impossible during breakfast opening hours. Staff wad very friendly and helpful.
Henry Hugon★★★★★
Great hotel, spacious room and bathroom, very close to the old town, can park in the building (underground - enter through Mercadona parking) or street parking when available (free overnight). Very modern. Breakfast was adequate - selection a bit limited and wish they had better bread (and avoided single use items for butter and jam) Overall, I would be happy to stay there again on my next trip to Oviedo (a great city!).
cs cs★★★★☆
Not easy to find because of lack of signage but once you do find it its a lovely hotel with convenient discounted parking and is only a short walk from the center of oviedo. Park on floor minus 2 of the grand bulevar parking and you can get a lift straight to the hotel. Small bit of advice: Get better signage on non-lift access floors.
Sarah Gee★★★☆☆
Location is close to the main part of town, but if you read other reviews you will see the hotel entrance is maddeningly difficult to find. It's on the 3rd story of the back side of a building and there are no signage or markers indicating the way. Maybe lack of signs is their brand because their bathroom amenities are also boxes with no names. Finding the soap was another unnecessary challenge. A fine stay, but not 4 stars.

For me the location was perfect independent of the purpose of our visit to the city of Oviedo. Everything is a walking distance: downtown, parks, malls, restaurants, pharmacies, supermarket, fruit-shops, laundromats, coffeeshops etc. But more important was the warmth, politeness, patience, understanding, and helpfulness of the staff. The ladies at the reception in particular are fantastic, taking nothing away from the gentlemen who were courteous too. The rooms are in good condition and well cleaned and included all amenities we needed. The wifi service was especially standout. Maybe the only downside is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms themselves, but then again I am not sure if that is that non standard in the city of Oviedo.

Extremely helpful receptionist. Couldnt get mu phone to book a room beforehand and was stuck on the road...no problem. Very happy with eveeything. Would highly recommend

Oviedo is a beautiful place to visit. Plenty to see here. Lots of hotels to choose from depending on your budget you have a selection to pick. Aparthotel Campus is one of them. Situated in part of town centre. Many shops, restaurants around etc. Hotel from outside looks very modern, reception not so bad and service very friendly. Rooms ... Very clean, first impressions ok. Than you see TV on a wall with size of a tablet. Very basic would be good idea to upgrade for something with WiFi casting and larger screen. Walls not sound proof noises from other rooms can be easy to pick up if other hotel guests Are more noisy. Kitchen very basic, no kettle or coffee machine I am afraid bit disappointing having kitchen annex. Manage to get kettle from the reception. No tea or coffee bags in a room either so again u had to supply some for yourself. All plates, cups, cutlery also bit used with old stains on, if you desperate and do some additional deep clean I use it. Or like already mentioned restaurants plenty around you also not too expensive. Need to say the hotel have restaurant as well. Very very nice place, not expensive. Top service there, very welcoming and even language only Spanish not make you feel uncomfortable. Guests from outside hotel also welcome. Restaurant worth to come back to visit for coffee or something to eat
GD Deavers★★★★★
The wife and I really loved this hotel. Very nicely located. Convenient if " tight" parking. Jose at the desk was very helpful and professional. The room was spacious and clean. Kitchen small but functional,we did not use the hotel restaurant, but the price list in the room was very reasonable. We have already decided to return next summer for a week or two.
Tony Maz★★★★☆
very good aparthotel, close to the centre. Kitchen with everything you need, good price for being in Oviedo. Comfortable beds. There is free parking nearby on Sundays and in the evening, or there is the hotel's paid parking in the basement. Nice staff, only bad thing the location is near a very busy junction, you can hear cars a lot and at the moment there is some road works.

I was told on the morning of my arrival that I had been moved to a motel ten minutes´ drive from this hotel. I had booked Pension Viella Asturias because it had Wi-fi in the room but the motel room I was moved to did not and this was extremely frustrating. I was not even offered any compensation! If this is how Pension Viella Asturias treats customers who had booked accommodation several weeks in advanced, best to avoid disappointment and book somewhere else

We were very comfortable! The most important thing is that everything was very clean! The room had air conditioning, which was very important during the heat wave we experienced. Thank you very much.
Felipe Rodriguez Limones★☆☆☆☆
This is our third time staying at this hotel, and I'm leaving this bad review after only three days. We can't imagine what the receptionist's attitude was like. It was three days of very high temperatures, and the air conditioning in room 101 was broken, so we had no choice but to keep the window closed because the La Chalena seafood restaurant terrace is downstairs, and I think there's also a nightclub nearby. We only saw one cleaning person one day, and I give them a ten out of ten for their excellent service. We checked out on the morning of Sunday, May 24th, after calling two different numbers, both of which went unanswered, to return the keys and a small hairdryer (which also didn't work). We left the hairdryer in the room, and the keys at the reception desk.

I was there with my sister for a few days in March as we had a date with Dr Espinas, a local surgeon . What a wonderful hotel , I cannot recommend enough . Traditional , lovely decoration , super clean , Huge double room. I was very impressed and I hope to go back when I visit Oviedo in the near future . Amazing Staff , discreet and curteous. They also have a lovely and stylish cocktail bar which is linked .. And all the restaurants are at a stone throw from there. Thank you very much for your hospitality .

Location is perfect. Service is OK. But rooms are extremely outdated. Worst part was the bathroom, not clean. Towels are overused.

Great location... got double room for one person, very small room... and not clean. Nice balcony... towels and bathrobe got stains... and found a locker to an ear ring on the bathroom floor... and a long hair in the bathtub... 🫩 Very old coffee machine... and drinking water costs 2,75 euro for half a Liter 🫣

This hotel in the pictures and on the website actually doesn't do it justice - they totally should do an overhaul of their marketing. I arrived not expecting a ton (apart from it being in a good location). And actually.. it really was pretty nice!! It's really clean, fresh, up to date and the building is large. Had a peaceful sleep and got more from the price than I was anticipating - recommend.

Great base for Oviedo. Walk to everything. The hotel has some character and history. Nice room in the end (first room we were assigned was not so great - v noisy aircon). Helpful staff. Breakfast was an optional extra - coffee was fine but the other offerings varied a bit in quality and choice and depth, some days ok others a bit meh.

Wonderful experience at the AC Hotel in Oviedo. First, the location is unbeatable, right of Calle Uria, the main street in Oviedo. Cathedral is about 10 minutes walk. Bus and train station right in front of the hotel. Breakfast in the morning is outstanding. Plenty of food and fresh fruit. You can also order omelets. Now the real highlight is the staff. At the front desk Llume was super nice at checkin and during the stay always smiling and ready to help with anything. At the breakfast area Javier was a true ambassador of the Marriott hospitality, every day going above and beyond. Special recognition also to the housekeeping staff, especially Julia. Our room was spotless every day. For the American tourists worried about strong AC during summer hot waves, no need to worry at this hotel. It was blowing really strong and we slept great every night. We will be back, beautiful city and outstanding hotel and stafd.

Not a very good hotel. Not a 4 star hotel and not a Marriott Hotel No kettle in the room to prepare tea,or coffee. The Air aircondition was off for all the rooms in April'26 with 9 degrees celsius-The room was cold! The hotel is understaffed. One receptionist only per shift and one employee for all the hotel at night. Cleaning finishes at 3pm!Cleaning ladies very polite. The reception staff is not polite, especially the afternoon receptionist who works 23 years in the hotel. Impolite and arrogant i would say. The night receptionist, although eager to help he was not in his position at 1.40am,when i was trying to find a way to clean the room because I was sick vomiting.I cleaned the bathroom with the mop I asked from him when he showed up. One person is not adequate for a hotrl, they may be in the bathroom or busy. Note:I speak spanish, so I dont know if they speak english-even in his language the receptionist was rude and not happy in his job

Economy Room comfortable enough for a few days. It lacked a bit of intimacy in the structure (shower transparent and put right in front of the room). There is no sound proof elements for the noise outside. Since the system obliges to slam the door everytime someone enters, it is really inconvenient as the four doors are all next to each other. Some people with bad manners were also talking loudly at 1am and 4am during the Christmas week. Waking us up everytime they were here... Otherwise the hotel is convenient, affordable. The breakfast has a few options but it was still enjoyable. The location great as it is not in plain downtown with the drunk people and loud noise. I would recommend this hotel for the rooms above Economy.

Great location close to Alsa bus station ( 5 minutes walk ) grocery and the restaurant and 15 minutes to Catedral de San Salvador and Plaza de Alfonso el Casto

Great location very centric, next to restaurants, bars and the San Francisco park. Camila at the reception desk is very friendly! The downside we encountered was construction work going on upstairs in the morning even though there was a warning sign in the lobby, it was difficult to get some rest.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel NH Oviedo for a couple of nights, and what truly distinguishes this property is the exceptional quality of its staff. Every team member we encountered was unfailingly courteous, attentive, and genuinely eager to assist. Their warmth and professionalism created a welcoming atmosphere that significantly enhanced our overall experience. The accommodations were equally impressive—our rooms were impeccably clean, thoughtfully designed, and featured comfortable beds complemented by a stylish interior. These details reflect the hotel’s commitment to both comfort and aesthetics. Breakfast offered a good selection and was well-prepared, providing a pleasant start to the day. Overall, our stay exceeded expectations, and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a combination of excellent service, comfort, and hospitality.
Rebecca Rodriguez★★★★☆
The hotel has an excellent location. The rooms are a little small. Something we did not like is that to go to the rooms, you have to carry the luggage up and down the stairs to get to/from the elevator that takes you to the rooms. It makes no sense. Also the rooms has big windows with sheers, and no apparent curtains or black outs for privacy. We found out the last night that there were shutters because another guest told us. There should be instructions in the bedrooms, because it is pretty hard to notice that there is a string (right by the frame, and behind the sheers) that closes the shutters. The hotel staff was nice and the breakfast was very good.
CARLOS OTERO LOZANO★★☆☆☆
It is NOT a NH hotel standard. A lot of noise in the rooms and there is none who can help. The breakfast buffet is not good. THE WHOLE SERVICE IN THE HOTEL IS BAD. I regreat it.

I’m still at the hotel, and while everything else has been fantastic (clean room, friendly staff, excellent location), the cleaning noise in the mornings is unbelievably loud. They’ve been moving furniture and cleaning several rooms around for a couple of hours (it's 9:45 am right now), and it’s impossible to rest while it's happening.

Lovely hotel. Really good experience. The rooms are quiet, spacious, clean. The staff is very helpful and friendly. And if you're coming by car it's very easy to get off and on the highway but also close to walk to the center of Oviedo.

Attended a concert at the beautiful Auditorio Principe Felipe in Oviedo and this hotel was conveniently located nearby. The front desk staff and Javier in particular were very professional and efficient, providing me with a map and indicating places to visit before the concert. After checkout, they offered to store my luggage so that I could walk unencumbered until it was time to leave. There was also a cafeteria in the hotel that was open all day with good food and excellent service, at a decent price. Their house wine was from Ribera del Duero and was quite good - 3.9 on Vivino, for "just" their regular red by the glass. Overall, it was a pleasant stay at great value!

I had a pleasant stay at Ayre Hotel at Oviedo. The receptionist was very friendly and resourceful about the town, presented me with a piece of map and showed me the places to visit for breakfast and history. The hotel staff were good at communicating and did proper checks with me for room service/cleaning. The price is affordable as well as in a convenient location. I would go back again.

I've tried hotel Ramiro for a business trip and what I've appreciated the most were position and service. Well located between city center and Congress center. Both are 10/15 min walking distance. Staff is very kind. Room are ok, large with bed king size and clean but hotel looks vintage. It would need a restyle.

Lovely family run hotel literally across the road from the station. Very quiet night and comfy beds. Smallish double room but big spacious en suite. Café/ bar / restaurant friendly and convenient. Reception helpful. Couldn't fault.
Tricia Cochrane★★★★☆
Warm welcome. Lift to rooms. Comfortable room with bathroom. Only negative on a noisy room from traffic & people.

Worst mattress that I slept in , my back was killing me after each night! Noise is high Would not chose a second Maybe renovating a bit! Only nice thing the bathroom was like renovated
Un Vagabundo★★★★★
Good location, being very close to both the train station and the bus station. The historic city centre isn't too far away either. The room I was given was on the top floor and was a fairly large family room with three beds. It was relatively clean. I thought the room being on the top floor would mean it would be quiet. It was but as the lift was right next to the room, occasionally it was quite loud with the mechanical noise from the lift. The lady at the front desk spoke very limited English.

Amazing value for money, less than 10 minute walk from anything you need. Clean rooms. Very retro. Staff cant speak English. Very happy

Essential Tips for Booking a City Centre Hotel in Oviedo

Before you confirm your reservation, it is wise to understand the local landscape and logistics. Booking a hotel in a historic European city center often comes with specific quirks, from accessibility issues to noise levels. The following tips will help you avoid common pitfalls and ensure that your stay in Oviedo is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

1. Understand the Pedestrian Zones
Much of the old town is restricted to authorized vehicles only. If you are driving, do not assume you can pull up directly to the hotel entrance. Contact the property in advance to ask about access permits, the nearest public parking garage, and whether they offer a valet service or luggage drop-off points nearby.

2. Prepare for the Cider Culture
Oviedo is famous for its sidrerías, and many of the best ones are located in the centre, particularly along Calle Gascona. While this is fantastic for dining, it can mean lively street noise until late at night. If you are a light sleeper, request a room on a high floor, an interior-facing room, or bring earplugs.

3. Verify Air Conditioning and Heating
Due to the historic nature of many buildings and the generally mild (but damp) Asturian climate, not all older boutique hotels offer powerful air conditioning. If you are visiting in the humid summer months, double-check that the room has individually controlled climate settings rather than just central heating.

4. Check the Elevator Situation
Many charming, converted palaces and historic buildings in the centre are protected by heritage laws. This sometimes means small elevators or no elevator at all for the top floors. If mobility is a concern or you are traveling with heavy luggage, confirm that the hotel has a modern lift and ask for a lower floor.

5. Look for the "Desayuno" Quality
Asturian breakfasts can be incredible, but hotel offerings vary wildly. While some hotels offer a standard continental buffet, others go above and beyond with local cheeses, Asturian pastries like carbayones, and fresh juices. Since you are in the food capital of Northern Spain, check recent reviews to see if the breakfast is worth adding to your rate or if you are better off walking to a local café.

6. Be Mindful of Festivals
Oviedo hosts major events, such as the San Mateo festival in September and the Prince of Asturias Awards in October. During these periods, the city centre is packed, and prices surge. If you are traveling during these dates, book months in advance and be prepared for street closures and celebrations that last all night.

Choosing to stay in the heart of Oviedo is an investment in convenience and atmosphere. You are surrounded by centuries of history, yet steps away from modern shopping and world-class dining. It allows you to experience the city not as a tourist passing through, but as a temporary local living among the plazas and sidrerías.

With the right hotel booked and these practical tips in mind, you are set for an unforgettable journey. Whether you spend your days hunting down the pre-Romanesque churches on the outskirts of town or simply sipping coffee in the Plaza del Fontán, your central base will ensure every moment of your Asturian adventure is within easy reach.
