12 Best Cafes in Granada

Granada is a city that demands to be felt, not just seen. Between the grandeur of the Alhambra and the winding, white-washed alleys of the Albaicín, there is a rhythm to daily life that revolves around slowing down. For many visitors, understanding this rhythm begins with a single ritual: the search for the perfect cup of coffee.

The local café culture here is an eclectic mix of old-world charm and modern, specialty-driven innovation. You are just as likely to find a century-old institution serving toasted bread with olive oil as you are a minimalist space pouring single-origin filter brews. It is this contrast that makes exploring the city’s coffee scene so rewarding.

Because Granada is a university city, the energy in its cafés is unique. You will see students typing furiously on laptops, artists sketching in notebooks, and elderly locals reading the morning paper, all sharing the same tiled floor. The best establishments cater to this diverse crowd without losing their distinct identity.

To truly experience the city like a local, you must step away from the main tourist drags surrounding Plaza Nueva and venture into the Realejo or San Matías neighborhoods. Here, the noise fades, and the sound of steaming milk and clinking cups takes over. It is in these spaces that you find the soul of Granada.

However, the sheer volume of options can be overwhelming for a first-time visitor. Knowing whether you want a traditional café con leche with churros or a carefully curated V60 pour-over can dictate where you should spend your morning. This guide is designed to help you navigate the city’s best offerings.

We have curated a list that balances atmosphere, bean quality, and historical significance. Whether you are seeking a quiet corner to read or a bustling terrace to people-watch, this list covers the essential stops for any coffee lover.

Below, you will find the definitive guide to the establishments currently defining Granada’s coffee culture. Use this list to plan your daily caffeine routes as you explore the city’s hills and valleys.

Went for a quick stop during my walks in Granada. It is located on a narrow street, very busy narrow street. The options you have at the location are plenty, the coffee is great. I am not a fan of coffee with milk but here have decided to try something new and got myself an espresso cortado, which means the same amount of coffee and milk. What can I say, would give it another try next time, it was a nice combination. You can also get some savoury pastries, very tasty.

Yes yes yes. The food, the service and the atmosphere are outstanding. If you want a nutritious breakfast/brunch, good quality coffee and pastry made by great bakers, this is the place. It was recommended to us by a friend from the region, and we’re happy we got here. They have two entrances, one for take away, the other to sit in. I’m back next time I’m in Granada, that’s for sure. Gracias!!

Came to have breakfast two days in a row in my stay at Granada of 3 days. The third day I couldn’t go because my train left too early of not I’d been there that day too. Amazing food, amazing coffee and the pastries are incredible. If you are in Granada make yourself a favor and go brunch here. Showing some pictures of what I ordered everything was exquisite!
Jeremy Walters★★★★★
Exceptional coffee. Staff is friendly and the food is wonderful. They have a take away only side as well as a sit down area. Everything is made fresh in-house. If you enjoy specialty coffee this place is a must. Sure, you can find espresso at any restaurant or cafe, but not every place takes the time to create a high quality espresso drink. I’d argue this is one of the best specialty coffee shops in Granada.
Medina Turcinovic★★★★★
Stopped by La Finca Coffee for a caffeine break and loved it. We tried different coffees, a matcha and a selection of pastries, and everything was spot on. The pastries in particular are absolutely worth ordering. The staff was friendly and the whole place has a fun, modern vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer. A great spot for anyone who appreciates really good coffee.

I visited Bonnevie today and the cold brew was absolutely amazing! It was beautifully brewed, and they clearly use high-quality beans. The barista mentioned their origin is Brazil. I didn't get to try the desserts this time, but they looked beautiful. It is also a very suitable spot for anyone looking for halal-friendly options. The atmosphere is incredible. The staff member who helped me was very polite, had the most wonderful, warm smile, and made me feel so welcome. A truly lovely place!
Yasmine★★★★★
Such a nice and cozy place. We went for a coffee and an orange juice. I got an iced coffee with condenced milk, I think it’s called a “Canari” or a “Spanish latte…” Im not sure, but it was really good! The girl, Sofia who works there is very sweet and we would love to come back!
Vital Elements★★★★★
The most soulful cafe around. With its uniquely charming and engaging atmosphere, delicious offerings, and warm and accommodating hospitality you can't miss this one. If you're fortunate enough to find yourself on the pedestrian streets of Albaicín, find your way to the aptly named Bonnevie. Despite being situated below street level, the space is graced by plenty of beautiful natural light along with warm interior accent lighting. The decor is both open and airy while retaining earthy warmth and character. The cappuccino and croissant I enjoyed there were absolute perfection. But it was the lovely energy of the space that fed my soul as I prepared to tour the astonishing Nasrid Palaces. After finishing my croissant downstairs, I took my remaining cappuccino upstairs to sit outside and take in the pageant of daily life on the ancient streets of this delightful neighborhood. Indoors and out, this place is a welcome oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city, and great spot for discerning palates. With great coffee, food, hospitality, and ambiance all available here, why look further?
Misha Rods★★★★★
BonneVie is one of my all-time favorite coffee shops in Granada. From the coffee, Chai, matcha, and other drinks on the menu, its impossible to go wrong. The baked pastries are delicious and I always get an empanada for the road. This is my New York city in Granada shop. It is such a beautiful mix of international amd cultural intersections, I feel like it holds a romantic energy and an urban experience all in one. The staff are lovely, the owners are really good people, and honestly, you just need to go and see for yourself. I love BonneVie so much.
Amy Van Aarle★★★★★
Sitting on the bench outside the entrance, my skin feels the soft breeze. Voices from the candy shop across the way float my way. Under the branches of the small olive tree I taste three chocolate, pistachio, and honey baklava delights. I’m thankful for the cold brew, served in a weighty glass that reminds me of home.

The place is very nice and a lot of decorations with interesting details that you can keep discovering. But the coffee was not good at all. I think the place with such kind of efforts in decorations can find better coffee to serve.
Yogananthan Devarajoo★★★★★
Amazing atmosphere, the drinks and sundaes are wonderful. The pianist is very talented and plays beautiful jazz solos. The noise level is peaceful and allows for small conversations. The decor and theme of the cafe is very well done. Posters and instruments really emphasis the vibe. Really enjoyed visiting this cafe and would definitely come again. The drinks are cheap and delicious, a variety of different desserts is also present. Came around 10:15-10:30 wasn’t crowded but relatively full. Good service as well.

Very nice place with super friendly staff, cozy jazz atmosphere and beautiful decorations. We loved every minute here and will definitely come back. Highly recommended for a relaxing evening! Thanks!!

Love the cafe latte and Matcha latte. Great atmosphere and decor is very chic. Had yummy carrot cake as well. Very fresh. Best coffee as well.

Good vibes, amazing coffee and light breakfast. So far the best coffee I had in Spain. The barista has got some sick tattoos as well 🙂 한국인들 강추합니다!
Iryna Svitlychenko★★★★☆
The coffee is good and it seems to have its audience, but don't have high hopes for the food - it's average at best. I don't think there is a fully fitted kitchen on site, so it's quite an ad-hoc cooking from what we saw. The ingredients are also generic, so don't hold your breath for it. The interior is clean and minimalistic although doesn't feel too cosy.
Lea Cook★★★★☆
Apparently they have certain hours that you can work there on the weekends, so we got asked to put away our computers. It was busy (around 4:30) so not a big deal just something to be aware of! Vanilla matcha is so good- not too sweet and very smooth!
Li Lin★★★★★
Excellent coffee shop that is serious about quality of coffee, as good as any specialty coffee shops elsewhere. They also have a small selection of cake, pastries and sandwiches. The decor is minimalist modern. To bring home the mnimalist appeal, they use espresso machine like Marzocco Mobar that only expose the brew head on the counter top and hide the rest of the bulk under the counter. This is usually a staple of a high quality coffee shop.

Looking for the best breakfast in Granada? Café D’Santo was one of our favorite breakfast spots in Spain. Great coffee, fresh bread, real protein options, and friendly service. After several days of pastries and sightseeing, we were craving eggs and a solid breakfast. My husband ordered the brunch special with a croissant sandwich filled with turkey and cheese, two fried eggs, fresh squeezed orange juice, a yogurt bowl, and a choice of a crepe or chocolate croissant. He turned the eggs and croissant into a breakfast sandwich and immediately declared it a great decision. 😂 The yogurt bowl was packed with fresh berries, nuts, and seeds. My son and I ended up sharing most of it because it was that good. I ordered the scrambled eggs with spinach and bread, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. The caramel latte macchiato was excellent, and the fresh orange juice was exactly what we needed before another day of exploring Granada. Pro tip: Ask for the salsa picante. It’s flavorful, not overpowering, and pairs perfectly with the eggs. If you’re searching for a great brunch, quality coffee, fresh squeezed juice, or a protein-packed breakfast in Granada, Café D’Santo is an easy recommendation.

Had an awesome breakfast here! We saw all the great reviews online and definitely weren’t disappointed. We came in on a Saturday morning and were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait. We ordered eggs with spinach, a sugar crêpe, a yogurt bowl to share, and two large coffees. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the total came to under €20, which felt like good value value. Great food, friendly service, a really nice atmosphere, and excellent prices. One of the best-value breakfasts we’ve had on our trip. Definitely recommend!
Ka Ki Chow★★★★★
Cafetería d’Sano is a lovely spot in Granada for a fresh, healthy breakfast or brunch. We ordered two yogurt bowls (one berry and one banana), both packed with fruit and topped with oats, plus a pancake that was just as generous and satisfying. We also had two glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice, which tasted bright and natural — so good that we went back again the next morning for breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful, making the whole experience relaxed and welcoming.
Mîta Bengo★☆☆☆☆
The bread was really old, chewy and not enough. You pay for four slices of Avocado 1,20 €. The eggs and the avocado doesn’t taste fresh. The coffee ist okey. Not generous. Not fresh. I am disappointed! I don’t know how this cafe got a 4,8 Stars! I am normally generous with the reviews i give but I couldn’t give more than a star!! By the way the look is way much better than it taste.
Bella Midori★★★★★
The perfect Granada morning. ☀️🇪🇸 Eggs, fresh spinach, warm bread and a silky flat white… OMG, this is exactly how I want to start my day! ☕️🥚🥬🥖✨ A delicious breakfast, happy heart & beautiful city waiting to be explored. ❤️

So I was searching for a coffee shop which in Spain is called a cafeteria. I ironically was sitting in Starbucks when I began the search. my typical way to search is to one up google and Look for a good average rating and and a large quantity of reviews. Lo and behold, down the street (literally) was this Cafeteria. I wandered in and was Greeted by one of the Staff, Sara. I told her that it was my first visit and that my Spanish was not up to par. Her English was better than my Spanish and she recommended the Churros. I got three with a Cafe con leech. I chose to sit outside in their outdoor seating which was in a small street and shared the outdoor seating for Starbucks and Los Italians (try this place!). The service was great and so were the Churros. I am however, not a churro expert so don’t hold me to that, lol. My total bill came out to be five Euros which I didn’t think bad -especially given Starbucks prices. They had six outdoor seating spaces and it is on a corner and out of the sun with a nice breeze which felt nice during this heat wave. The cafe is close to where I am studying Spanish and I intend to visit again.

Very nice place for coffee, wine, juice**,** and strawberry meringue cake. The waiters speak fluent English, / thank you, Bianca/ so it's easy to order. Great music, good atmosphere, and normal prices. Highly recommend!

Amazing find in Granada for cakes and confectionery. Seems a favourite haunt for locals too as lots of them come to this cafe for breakfast. Staff speak good English and helpful. Ask for Cielo. She is super efficient and friendly.

I liked the atmosphere and staff of this cafe, so I came here three or four times a day- for breakfast, wine before lunch, afternoon tea, etc.. Tea and toast were fine, and the waitresses were very pleasant. Large sofas in the spacious venue. Very comfortable. Nice decor as well. Pleasant place.

Jose and his staff are amazing people, best desserts to come grab after a night out drinking or dinner. Cheesecake is to die for and everything is super well made. My family is from Granada and they also love this place. Local favorite.

Javi provides excellent service. He handled all prefers by himself and quite apparent known by locals. Had superb salmon, cream cheese, avocado and olive oil toast with an Americano. First time served hot water to add amount I wanted..BRILLIANT! Music is great too. Outside patio as well. Prices very reasonable.

Really nice place, very cosy. I popped in after a workout at the nearby gym (Synergym, just bought a day pass), and liked the blond wood and clean aesthetic/vibe. The two boys behind the counter were polite. I reckon they guessed I was an out-of-towner (maybe the Kanuga ball cap gave it away), and offered me a free slider with some chips, which was nice of them (had the meat & veg, skipped the bun and chips). It was around mid-aft, and so not so busy, even though the street level section is small. There was a local Spanish family of mum & dad and two young kids right behind my stool, and it was nice to hear them chatting away and fooling around behind me, even though I don't speak hardly a word of Spanish ("otra por favor" is about as far as I can get at this point, but I'm working on expanding the vocab).

The cafe was a bit small and tight for big groups but the food and service make up for it. The price was a bit higher than the usual. But they were accommodating when we asked them to tailor our tostadas. We ordered fresh orange juice and tostada with ham and avocado.

Really enjoyed this café, with a view of the Alhambra! It is authentic, simple, local cuisine. We went for the goat cheese/jam toast, tuna toast and the torilla de patatas sandwich. They all did not disappoint, that we finished everything. The service was very friendly and chill. When I go back to Granada, I will definitely come back!

Absolutely loved this place - we got the jamon/manchego/tomato and blackberry sandwiches and both were delicious. The orange juice and chai latte were also amazing. Our waiter was so friendly and the setting was beautiful. Would definitely eat here again
Megan Paradzinsky★★★★★
We stumbled up on this cute café nearby our accommodations. As others have mentioned, this spot is cash only. The restaurant is small. It has bar seating inside and a few tables outside. We did have to wait a short time for a table outside, which had a lovely ambience and view. The breakfast specials were also delicious, and they came a fresh orange juice. I got the high fiber muesli with yogurt and topped with honey and cinnamon that they brought to the table.
Zoë Swiderski★★★★★
Great little café with a good choice of breakfast toasts and granola with very reasonable pricing. Even had PG tea which was a bonus. Superb view of the Alhambra from the tables outside. Service was very friendly. A superb place for a stop.

Good food at fair prices. Sandwiches: potato omelette, salmon cream cheese, and goat cheese eggplant were tasty. Carrot cake excellent. Coffee average (bitter espresso shots). Outdoor seating uncomfortable (on a slope). Waiting times long on busy street. Staff very friendly. Vegetarian friendly.

This place was super cool and incredibly affordable. They have a great selection of toasted breads, all filled with high-quality ingredients. I ordered a toast and a delicious smoothie, but I couldn’t resist my urge and ended up getting another bread as well. The value for money here is incredible, especially considering the quality of the products. Definitely worth a visit!

We were looking for an early breakfast to fit our morning plan. We walked by this restaurant and it looked ok to us. Sitting outside, We ordered salmon cream cheese toast and Mollete with salmon and avocado and two cappuccino. Officially my favourite cafe in the whole of Granada or perhaps even Spain! I've been coming here for a few years now and I am treated like family by all the staff, they welcome me by name, know my orders, treat any guests I bring like royalty, and actually take time to get to know their customers. The owners truly some of the nicest people you meet, and you get the sense that this a really is a family run business with the way they interact with each other, you can sense the love between them all. They have two locations, and it matters not which café I visit, everyone down to their chefs and bar staff are a delight and always happy to be of service; I'll never leave this place, thank you Vincente and family for all that you do for us!❤️
Cristian Quattri★★★★☆
Food was really good, the cappuccino in the morning is done perfectly, only thing is that they put cinnamon in it by default, so If you don' t like it mention it beforehand, staff is lovely and super accommodating, we also had the toasted bread and it's really nice, highly recommended

I love this coffee shop so much! We usually come here to have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. They have exceptional choice of super tasty sandwiches! We visited Dancing at least 7 times and yet have so many options to try! The service is really fast and nice. The beauty of the place when you seat outside is fantastic! Then you can visit Botanic garden of a Law Faculty and I promise you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this place 😍

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ Beautiful location in Plaza Bib-Rambla and a nice place to sit for a dessert break in Granada, but the experience was a bit underwhelming overall. The desserts looked better than they tasted, and the service felt fairly mediocre and inattentive. Not terrible, but not especially memorable either considering the setting and prices. Good for the atmosphere, but I’d probably try another café next time.
Janette T★★★★☆
Good place for tapas, Calamares Andaluza is lovely and the Granada bean salad is delicious. Service is quick. There’s many seating inside or at the terrace.
Magdalena Z★☆☆☆☆
Food was really bad. I found bones in my chicken wrap, alioli was without any taste, lasagna also really bad. The starter or the chef’s compliment which they brought you can see it looks so bad and not tasty.
L I★★★★★
Such a unique cafe. Love the diner style! The food was very good. Lasagna, pizza, Huevos Rotos con patatas y jamon. The curry chicken tapa was delicious! The churros and chocolate were good. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, even though he was very busy. There were other servers who seemed to be helping him, but they were not helpful or even friendly. I asked them for ketchup and for extra spoons, which they never brought. Our poor waiter ended up having to get it himself when we asked a second time. Overall, we enjoyed it and will return! Our second visit was great too! We only had desserts, and they were all good. Carrot cake and tiramisu were the favorites. The Lotus cheesecake was also amazing. The three chocolates cake was ok.

Tips for Enjoying Cafes in Granada

Before you set out with your map in hand, it is helpful to understand a few local customs and practicalities that will enhance your experience. The way coffee is ordered, priced, and consumed in Granada differs slightly from other parts of Spain and the rest of the world. Knowing these nuances will help you blend in and get the best value for your money.

1. Understand the "Tostada" Morning Ritual
In Granada, coffee is rarely consumed alone in the morning. The standard breakfast is a "tostada" (toasted bread) crushed with fresh tomato and olive oil, or topped with jamón. Many of the best cafés offer a combo deal that includes coffee and a tostada for a fixed price, usually between 3 and 4 euros.

2. Learn the Local Lingo for Milk
If you want a latte, order a "café con leche." If you prefer more milk than coffee, ask for a "manchada." If you want it strong with just a stain of foam, order a "cortado." Asking for a "latte" will often get you a glass of plain milk, so adjust your vocabulary accordingly.

3. Don’t Rush the "Sobremesa"
The time spent sitting at the table after the food and coffee is finished is sacred in Spain. Waiters will not bring you the bill until you explicitly ask for it by saying "la cuenta, por favor." Do not feel pressured to leave; sitting for an hour over a single coffee is perfectly acceptable and expected.

4. Look for the "Tapa" Bonus
While less common with just a coffee than with a beer or wine, some traditional cafés in Granada may still serve a small biscuit or piece of cake alongside your hot drink. This is a nod to the city’s famous tapas culture. Never turn it down; it is part of the hospitality.

5. Choose Your Timing Wisely
Cafés in Granada are often packed between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. If you want a quiet experience or a table at a popular specialty shop, go early (around opening) or after 1:00 PM when the breakfast rush has died down and before the lunch crowd arrives.

6. Bring Cash for Smaller Bars
While modern specialty coffee shops will accept cards for any amount, many of the older, traditional cafés in the Albaicín or Realejo have minimum card spend limits. Carrying a 10 or 20 euro note ensures you won’t miss out on a historic venue just because you lack physical currency.

7. Embrace the Terrace Culture
Granada enjoys sunshine for most of the year. Even in winter, the terraces are packed during midday. If you see an empty table outside, grab it. However, be aware that sitting at a terrace often incurs a small surcharge compared to standing or sitting at the bar, though the view is usually worth the extra cents.

Granada is a city that rewards curiosity. While the Alhambra requires a ticket and a schedule, the café terraces ask for nothing but your presence. Taking the time to sit, sip, and watch the world go by is not a luxury here; it is a way of life.

As you wander between the historic center and the hillside neighborhoods, let your coffee breaks dictate your pace. By following the locals to these tables, you will discover a side of Granada that no guidebook can fully capture—one sip at a time.
