12 Best Hotels Near the Alhambra in Granada

Finding the right place to stay can completely transform your experience of Granada. While the city is filled with charming neighborhoods, nothing compares to waking up in the shadow of the Alhambra. The area surrounding the palace complex offers a unique blend of history, tranquility, and convenience that you simply cannot find elsewhere.

Staying near the monument places you at the heart of the action while simultaneously offering an escape from the bustling city center. You are within walking distance of the main entrance, which is crucial for making early morning tour times without the stress of navigating public transport. It also allows you to experience the magical atmosphere of the palace grounds during the quieter evening hours.

The neighborhoods immediately adjacent to the Alhambra, primarily the Realejo and the Albaicín hillside, are steeped in history. The Realejo, the old Jewish quarter, is known for its narrow winding streets, vibrant street art, and authentic tapas bars. It offers a local feel with easy access to the monument through the Puerta de las Granadas.

On the other side of the river, the Albaicín offers the most iconic postcard views of the Alhambra from its famous miradores, or viewpoints. Staying here involves navigating cobblestone hills, but the reward is a stay in a UNESCO World Heritage site. However, for the closest proximity to the gates, properties on the Sabika hill itself or in the upper Realejo are often the most convenient.

Accommodation options here range from historic paradores and boutique palace hotels to intimate guesthouses carved into the hillside. Whether you are looking for luxury amenities like pools and spas or a budget-friendly room with Moorish charm, this area has something to offer. The key is finding a property that balances your desire for proximity with your need for comfort.

Because parking is notoriously difficult in these historic districts, many travelers prefer hotels that offer valet services or are easily accessible by taxi. Being close to the Alhambra means you are often walking distance to the city center, but you are removed enough to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. This guide highlights the best options for every type of traveler and budget.

Below, you will find a curated list of the most highly recommended hotels near the Alhambra, ranging from historic landmarks to modern boutique stays. Each property has been selected for its quality, service, and proximity to the monument.

This review is for the restaurant, as we didn't stay in the hotel. The patio is very quaint and cozy. We loved the vibe as soon as we stepped inside. The food was some of the best we had during our trip to Spain. We stayed 3 weeks in Sevilla and 1 week in Granada and we ate wonderful food, but the dishes we ordered were cooked to perfection and tasted equally as good. I ordered the salmon and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it was cooked. Usually restaurants over cook salmon and it's dry, but this dish was moist and flavorful and the silky potatoes were a perfect compliment. Our artichoke appetizer was also delicious. We had ordered this is a couple different restaurants and this was our favorite. We highly recommend this restaurant not only for the food and ambiance, but the service was also very good.

My review is about restaurant. When I read a bad review, I was surprised, because our experience was wonderful! Tasty homemade food, I’ve got chicken and my husband has a rabbit and we also have a chocolate orange cake for dessert. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a good service especially good when you walk through Alhambra all day. Recommended 👌🏻

This is a review of the restaurant, not the hotel. We had a very nice lunch in their charming patio courtyard. We were there in the low season so getting a table wasn't a problem and the service was good. It's inside the Alhambra so you can't get a better location if you are spending a leisurely day exploring the palaces and other areas of the Alhambra.

This was one of the most disappointing stays I’ve ever had in a hotel. My room was downgraded due to technical difficulties, no additional compensation was offered (apart from a bottle of champagne, after I asked, that I told them I don’t drink, so useless in my case). Going back and forth with staff that didn’t want to budge over chat, even when they acknowledged additional compensation is in order, really wasn’t the best experience. In the evening there was no hot water in the shower. The room was very cold and you can’t use the aircon to warm up since the settings are locked. Absolutely overpriced for what they offer. View was ok, but nothing to overpay so much for. If there are guests staying in the room next to you, prepare to hear absolutely everything (banging doors, shower running, hairdryer etc.) Staff at the reception was very friendly, that’s about the only good thing about my 1 night stay. Would not repeat or recommend.

We didn’t live here just had lunch. The food was amazing and the restaurant is in an amazing location. We got four sandwiches which were ham and cheese bacon and cheese and pork and cheese. The pork was very juicy and the bread was yummy. It is a very cute and picturesque spot. Good good I recommend.

It is unlikely that I would choose this hotel again on a future visit to Granada. My stay at Aurea Washington Irving Granada was overall acceptable, but it did not meet my expectations compared to other hotels I have experienced in Spain. The hotel itself is well maintained, the rooms are comfortable, cleanliness is satisfactory, and the inroom amenities are adequate. However, my main concern is the service philosophy. Throughout my stay, I felt that guest convenience was not given the same level of priority that I have encountered in other Spanish hotels. In a market with strong competition and high hospitality standards, this is an area that deserves more attention. 👎🏻👎🏻 No parking after 10:00pm- We arrived late in the evening after a long day of driving, only to discover that parking was no longer available after 10:00 PM. This created unnecessary inconvenience, forcing us to search for external parking late at night. 👎🏻👎🏻 No concierge- In addition, there was no assistance available with luggage handling or transportation to the rooms, which was surprising for a hotel of 5 stars rating. 👎🏻👎🏻 Breakfast was another disappointing aspect. Small buffet with limited options. Besides, while breakfast service officially ends at 10:30 AM, my experience in many other hotels is that guests already seated are allowed to finish comfortably, with buffet closure handled discreetly and without impacting the guest experience. Here, however, we were explicitly informed that the buffet would close at 10:30 AM, which made the experience feel rigid and service-oriented rather than guest-oriented. 👍🏻👎🏻The staff were generally professional and polite. However, they lacked the warmth, friendliness, and genuine hospitality that I encountered consistently in other hotels during my trip across Spain. 👎🏻👎🏻👍🏻While the hotel has several positive qualities, the overall guest experience fell short of expectations. For that reason, it is unlikely that I would choose this hotel again on a future visit to Granada.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Aurea Washington Irving in Granada. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with kindness, warm smiles, and genuine hospitality. The entire team was friendly, professional, and always willing to help, which made our experience even more enjoyable. We were especially grateful for being assigned two beautiful adjacent rooms with stunning views of the Alhambra. Waking up to such an iconic view was truly one of the highlights of our stay and made our visit to Granada even more memorable. The hotel’s location is excellent, particularly for those wishing to explore the Alhambra and the surrounding area. The breakfast was enjoyable, and I also appreciated the availability of gluten-free options, which made dining much easier and more comfortable for me. If I could suggest one area for improvement, it would be the carpeting in the corridors. While the hotel is elegant and well maintained overall, refreshing the carpet color or updating it could further enhance the appearance of the hallways. Thank you to the entire team for your warm welcome, your kindness, and for helping create such a memorable experience. I would be delighted to stay here again in the future.

Loved our stay in this hotel. We stayed here 4 nights while we explored Granada easy walk into town, steep uphill walk and as it was really hot when we were there we opted for Ubers back on an evening. Lovely small pool for a refreshing swim and a few sunloungers for a relax between sightseeing. Staff really friendly and helpful.
TravelSmith★★★★★
A charming hotel with exceptionally friendly service. All staff members are extremely polite and helpful - especially Katrina at the front desks. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. The breakfast is lovely with a good variety of options - as with most Eurostars locations. The hotel is perfectly located for visiting the Alhambra - you are literally on top of the Alhambra. Parking is valet only as given this location on top of the Alhambra space is at a premium.
Sara★★★★★
The ladies at reception are so, so lovely - faultless service! Very nice touches of the water and cava at reception too. Food at the hotel is pretty good. Rooms are lovely. Everything is very clean and very nice. The hotel is in the Alhambra area which is so beautiful and lush - so 100% the most picturesque place in the city to stay. It’s about a 20-25m walk to the city centre which is what is needed for meals etc, so if you don’t mind that, it’s great.

Everything you expect for the money. Geared toward the 1-2 night stay and bus tour crowds headed to the Alhambra. Suitcase stand next to every bed, very small wardrobe etc. AC pumped and the towels dried. Perfect. On site restaurant on L4 is great and lobby bar is decent. We booked a flamenco cave visit at the desk and everything worked well. Pool was great for kids and proximity to Alhambra was perfect.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights, The only good thing about it is the location. The rooms are small and feel less than a motel room! I could hear the people next to me, flush their toilet and shower. The room decor is mediocre And the hotel was really old. I stayed at five different hotels in the Andalusian region and all other hotels were far more superior than this one for similar cost and cheaper parking.
Paul Humphreys★★★★☆
Perfect location for the Alhambra and regular buses nearby into the centre of Granada. The room was very clean but disappointed by the small wardrobe and only a few hangers, none of which had a crossbar for hanging trousers. No cold drinking water on tap on the landings either. Bar food menu good at normal prices, as you would pay in town. Nice pool area but no bar.
Sue Lawrence★★★★★
One night stay to visit to visit Granada and The Alhambra. Perfect location. The entrance to The Alhambra is across the road. Lovely rooftop swimming pool. Spacious room with large terraces. Good breakfast. Public areas decorated beautifully in keeping with the location. Parking on-site. Recommend!
Mehmet Ahmetoglu★★☆☆☆
Actually, the most important merit is its location, nearness to the Alhambra whereas other services are not as expected or written about it: the bathroom has no lock, the AC is working badly despite the boiling weather 38 degrees, the availability of parking is next to impossible therefore we were obliged to park at Alhambra parking which makes our movement less and less. Breakfast costs 14€ each person. Another problem, there is a telephone without a brochure or guide to call the receptionist, do not forget that the hotel is a four-star one 😁, I expect that the stars melted because of the extra services (mockery) These things happened to me, they may not happen to others :-(. Think it over before making a decision.

The Parador de Granada a hotel in the most privileged of locations in Granada (within the walls of the Alhambra) met all of our expectations of the hospitality, design, and attention to detail we have grown to love of the Paradores. We stayed for two nights in a standard room which was comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed an incredible dining experience at the hotel’s restaurant which provides local/authentic fare. We also enjoyed the incredible breakfast which we highly recommend due to the somewhat remote location of the hotel. We would like to especially commend the reception desk hostess Cristina who helped us with tickets and Diego who helped us with reservations.

The hotel is great. This review is for the restaurant . PROS: Wait staff was great. Food was beautiful (see photos). Considering the location, price is very reasonable (€120: Iberian ham, croquettes, steak, monkfish, bottle of wine, and dessert) CONS: ambience is terrible—it’s like eating in a parochial school staff lunchroom (maybe that makes sense considering location?). The furniture is dated and uncomfortable. Softening the lighting and piping in some quiet background music would help. This is not a place to have a romantic dinner currently. ASIDE: perhaps a translation thing, but the veal tenderloin was not what is considered veal elsewhere. It was just beef. My steak was not cut evenly, was very chewy, and was consistent with a top sirloin in the U.S. All that aside, it tasted great, the chutney served with it was remarkable.
Tara Furlong★★★★★
The food is just excellent. Always. Very peaceful on our visit but do remember the bug spray. Easy to while away the hours there. Great views.
Carrie Shaw★★★★★
We stayed at the Parador de Granada in March 2026 and it was outstanding. You can't beat the location inside the Alhambra. The staff were friendly, helpful, and kind. Our room was modern, beautiful, and immaculate. Parking is expensive, but the hotel let us keep our car in the lot after we checked out while we explored the Alhambra at our leisure the next day. Highly recommended.
Jim T★★★★★
Lunch at the terrace restaurant. Incredible view is worth the cost of an average lunch that as others said is pricey. Service is fine if not fast, and it is friendly. Definitely recommend for the view and set expectations of the rest appropriately. Then you won’t be disappointed. I’d go again.

Very hard to fault this hotel. The rooms are good, the service (especially from Alberto at the front desk who provided consistently exceptional customer service) is excellent and the location is perfect. It is 2 minutes away from entry to the Generalife gardens and Alhambra and there are regular mini buses to the centre of Granada downhill. However, if possible, walking downhill via the various paths for 15 minutes is much more enjoyable/rewarding. The hotel is very clean, there is a welcome drink and the lobby area is spacious with nice seating. Breakfast was good and worth the extra cost as there are limited eating options uphill. This hotel is excellent value for money and well worth consideration for your stay in Granada. I would certainly recommend this hotel, it’s more than deserving of its official 3 star rating.
sajid rehman★★★★★
This hotel is located next to the entrance of the Alhambra, so about 20 mins walk down into the centre. It’s away from the hustle and bustle. If you don’t mind the walk / taxi into the town then this place is a gem. The staff are very helpful, the rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. The breakfast is ok, not fantastic but has a selection of cereals, breads etc, There is a hill up to the hotel if you are going to be walking around however if you choose the middle of the 3 routes the walk is really nice, we walked up and down a couple of times a day with the kids and never felt it. The path is really wide with trees on either side and benches along the route, so very pleasant to walk. I would definitely stay here again.

The receptionist was really kind and friendly. He gave us good tips and made us feel really welcomed. The room was unfortenaly smelly when you walk in but through the windows, fresh air is coming into the room. The bed was really cozy and comfortable. Food was good too. The location is perfect for visiting the alhambra.
Chandan Save★★★★★
We picked this hotel for it's proximity to the Alhambra complex and truly we needed less than 5 minutes to walk to Generalife (the main ticket pavilion). At 8:30am we had the Jardin all to ourselves. How romantic is that 😊. Also, our room had a great view of the Alhambra which was lovely at night. Kudos to the super helpful night manager and staff who gave us touristy advice despite our ungodly checkin/checkiut times. Overall they are a big part in making our Granada experience so beautiful. Thank You!

Very friendly staff, spacious-clean rooms and very fair price. very close to alhambra too! Only thing I wish were different that at breakfast meat options were limited to pork.

EDIT 03/05/2026: The Owner's response to this review should tell you everything you need to know about this business. The screenshot is a direct snip from their listing regarding parking. Also saying we arrived at 1:30 is yet again a lie. People can do with their money as they please but would not recommend spending a single cent here. I booked this property specifically because it was listed as having parking. That was a key filter for me, and the main reason I chose it while driving through Spain. The “parking” they mention is not usable for overnight stays there is a sign on the front saying no overnight stays and the guards won’t let anyone in! We arrived at night and were left driving through the extremely tight, stressful streets of Granada trying to find somewhere to park. Anyone who’s driven there will understand how difficult that is. This is simply false advertising. On top of that, there is no proper reception and the contact numbers provided did not work when we needed help. You’re essentially on your own. There are notices in the room telling you to keep showers to around 5 minutes. Have you ever stayed at a paid accommodation that moderates your shower time? That should tell you everything about how this business is run. To be fair, the location is good and the apartment itself has the basic essentials. But that doesn’t make up for the misleading information and lack of support.
Karen Johnson★★★★☆
Excellent location, walking distance to the centre. Service was good before the stay and on arrival. The room was spacious and beds were comfy , it is good value. It was quiet overnight from around 11pm until 7.30am so allowed time for sleep. Coffee, tea, oil, water and wine were all appreciated.

Superb accommodation. Great location and value for money. Ideally located near the city centre and pretty close to the Alhambra. Apartment is well maintained and the amenities are good. The reception is accommodating!

I really recommend the place! It's the little touches that makes a difference... A bottle of wine on arrival, olive oil to cook or eat with your meal and complementary coffee / tea... it's been years I haven't seen that in rental appartements! Thanks a lot for your help, we had a great stay as a familly!

What a lovely hotel this is. Rooms were clean and spacious and had a balcony to see views of the city. Each room was unique and interesting and had character. The staff were especially friendly and attentive, they were very helpful when we asked about how to travel around the city and get to the Alhambra palace. Reception staff were also very kind and always there to help. One of the receptionists booked a taxi for us one day which was very appreciated. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, with easy access to local restaurants, the Alhambra palace and the centre of Granada. Breakfast at the hotel was lovely and varied. It felt very quiet and peaceful in the hotel each day. There were plenty of seating areas and quiet rooms to read or do work etc. overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Casual Ilbira Granada to anyone. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

We stayed for one night. The location is good, you can walk to the tourist spots quickly. The room was clean and in perfekt condition, its size was good enough. The staff was helpful and friendly, breakfast was good. Parking close by can be a bit tricky though. There are two parking houses, one of which is the worlds tiniest (La Carrera).
Peter Zaenker★★★★★
It was a memorable stay. I think what I liked best is that the staff were very friendly - I only caught the names of Carmen and Helena but there was a man at the reception there who was very helpful. In short, they don't brush you off, the opposite, they take interest in visitors. Breakfast was great, and I considered it quite good value and normally don't buy breakfast in hotels. Rooms were big and interesting, only slight awkward issues were: bathroom and shower are a bit strangely placed in the room with a bit of shower visibility, and as well there was no indoor curtain for an indoor hall window that overlooks the lower indoor hotel. The lower lights were going on and off at night, if you are sleeping on the sofa bed this could be a bit of a bother (wear an eyemask). I would stay again for sure, and Granada is a pretty neat city.
Natari G★★★☆☆
Convenient for walking around and the rooms are spacious, but it's not really what it advertises to be (boutique hotel, 4*). It's a very average 3* city hotel. DO NOT DRIVE HERE. They send instructions, but it's a nightmare to drive in the area around the hotel so just don't. Park near El Corte Ingles and walk. Our room was quite dirty, especially the bathroom, breakfast was not good (the selection was meh and nothing tasted good), and the staff taking care of the breakfast area was SO LOUD. They would come with a large trolley every 5 min to tidy, and click clack the plates and the cutlery so loudly you could barely hear each other. I'm not sure what there is to tidy so frequently and so loudly in such a small area. Reception staff were not very helpful when asked questions beyond how to get to Alhambra. They seemed to not know very much. The roof terrace was nice through, especially at sunset - points to the hotel for that.
Logan Rubenstein★★★★★
every day room service, free breakfast (mainly hot drinks, eggs, toast, and other basics), great staff (i’d recommend being a spanish speaker to check in), rooms have good lighting. only issue is the shower gets water everywhere because of the pane of glass not extending far enough

Excellent location. Room was extremely clean. The view from the terrace was the best! Had an Excellent stay here. The Manager (forget his name Natahael maybe?) was awesome. He gave us so many cool and fun ideas of “different” things to do. We ended up walking through the gypsy neighborhood Sacromonte to the outskirts of town and then hiked over the mountain and back. Was one of the highlights of our trip. Didn’t see another person. Was incredible! Highly recommend this hotel.

Located in a prime location with a great view of the Alhambra. We sat in the patio every afternoon just admiring this beautiful castle. One important thing to consider is close coordination with the manager if you’re driving a vehicle since there is no parking near the apartments. Also bring your walking shoes to Granada.

This was our best stay in Andalusia and entire Spain in general. Superb value for money. Right next to an old church, clear views of Alhambra even from our window in addition to the terrace, city centre is just a 10 min walk away. Nacho was extremely helpful with anything we required, and he helped with a lot of tips on exploring Granada. We stayed for 2 nights, and were totally satisfied with the experience.

This is one of my favorite places I've stayed traveling over the years. Great location and prices, communicative staff, a terrace with views of the Alhambra, and a guesthouse style with only a handful of other guests. We feel lucky to have found it and would stay again if we return to Granada.

Our stay here was incredible. My girlfriend was so happy with the room and the view of Alhambra from the hotel rooftop. Staff were attentive and kind throughout the stay. They have a washer and dryer you can pay to use. We were also able to buy a bottle of wine for €10 and able to have a couple glasses while enjoying the view above.

Bathroom had basic toiletries with 80 lts of hot water. Kitchen had microwave and gas and enough utensils for 3/4 today stay. Living room has double bunk bed with sofa and dining table with 4 chairs. We had a 1 bedroom apartment with a private bath, personal terrace, but no view. The apartment had an ample open space with a fully equipped kitchen, dinning space, and living room. very comfortable and handy to restaurants, cafes and shopping. The service center in town, and the house cleaning personnel were exceptionally helpful during our stay and we are grateful. We will return

TLDR : No parking, parking garage added 20 euro/day, no employees on site, apartment smells like s***/urine, advertised promises not maintained, important information not provided to us. I booked this place because it was close to the things I wanted to do, and the price seemed good. This hotel, however, was a disaster. There's absolutely no parking. The confirmation email gave no information about that, nor is there a warning on the website. Arriving, we discovered the lack of parking, so we looked up the recommendations on the website FAQ. It stated that if you park in Plaza de Camino 4 and bring the ticket to the office that they'll validate, so we did that. Arriving back at the hotel, this time on foot, we discovered that entry requires a pass code, which is in the confirmation email. It wasn't. The intercom button does nothing, as there is no staff on site. Turns out they are several blocks away (and useless). After struggling to get in for some time, we finally managed to get ahold of someone on their phone help line. As international travelers, this was an expensive call! Check in is 100% on an electronic device that you have to navigate on your own. The machine is poorly programmed and difficult to use. Not to mention it is in the entry hallway, so checking in blocks anybody from entering or leaving the building. Finally inside the apartment, it is filled with an atrocious stench of sewage coming from the bathroom. It is so powerful that nothing we did could cover it up or lessen it. The fan, closing the bathroom door, completely useless. The entire apartment smelled like s***, constantly. It was hot and stuffy inside, and turning on the AC caused even more stench, since the AC units apparently emit a smell of stale urine. Opening the windows is the only solution, but since there were no screens, this meant letting in mosquitos. The cute little patio area that they advertise is locked up, so there's no access. The next day, we walked to the office, and the woman refused to validate our parking ticket, claiming they have no relationship with that garage. This despite the fact that the garage was listed on their website. It wouldn't have hurt her to just put the stamp on the ticket and let us try, but she refused. Nor would she even listen to the argument that I parked where their website told me to. She was very rude and useless, and claimed that the proper parking garge was included in the confirmation email (it wasn't). Parking added another 20 euro/day to the price of the hotel.
Stephanie Rodriguez★☆☆☆☆
My husband and I thought the location was the best and only food review from the apartment. The rest was very disappointing... The bed and sofa weren't comfortable at all, the sofa even gave me a rash. We stayed in the basement of the building so we barely had any sunlight in the room. Thank goodness we were there in January instead of summer because we could hear all what was going on both in the building with our neighbors and on the street. We don't recommend staying here at all
Jinhui Xu★☆☆☆☆
Giving 1 star as 0 is impossible. Worst hotel ever. Situated on the ground floor next to a street and just next to hotel entrance with super bad sound insulation. From midnight to 8am, you hear non stop cars, people talking super loudly, door shutting, toilet flushing. All these worth 110 euros per night, impossible. I don’t understand how people find this hotel acceptable… do they ever bribe google or booking to delete bad reviews?

Wonderful and unique place to stay while in Granada. The bus stops- Camino del Sacromonte 39, 77, 89 and Cuesta del Chapiz are walkable from the cave. Make sure to pack light as you need to haul it up the sloping path and stairs to reach the stay location. The Alhambra Mirador (viewpoint) near the cave is better and higher (with lesser crowd) than the San Nicolas Mirador. The host are very friendly and offer veg and vegans options as well for breakfast. The place is very near City centre reachable via walk, bus or taxi.

The location is wonderful. Staying in the heart of Sacromonte with spectacular views is a truly unique experience. It's very close to the tapas bars and in the most authentic part of Granada. The hosts make you feel right at home and are incredibly attentive. A perfect 10.

We stayed at the most top floor apartment, a 2-bedroom/1-bathroom. There's a 3 beds, a kitchen, dining and living room space. It's was very spacious for two guests. A fantastic view of Alhambra too! No elevators though if one is lugging heavy luggage up the stairs. The agency that runs these apartments were very responsive and met us where our taxi dropped us off so that she (Cristina) could walk us to the building. She gave us a tour of the place and booked a taxi for our check out day. Check out was so simple, leaving the keys behind. It's located right off the main street so it was easy to find restaurants and things to shop.

Lovely place to stay! At first I wasn’t sure about the apartments as it felt like someone’s home (like an airbnb). But it was so clean and has nice conveniences like the washing machine and the fancy shower with all the jets. They provided water and fruit, tea and coffee, extra blankets too. I especially enjoyed the space as my friends stayed in the double room way down the hall. My room faced the little lane and every night a small truck would race up and down the street multiple times to empty the garbage or something. Bring ear plugs and it won’t bother you. Keep in mind there is no elevator here. We had to haul our heavy luggage up 10-15 or so marble stairs that rounded a curve. If you have a rental car you will have an issue. We returned ours early to avoid the hassle of parking it. The hotel is in completely pedestrian only area. Taxis and small busses can use the street only. But even that wasn’t guaranteed as the morning we were leaving we ordered an uber to take us to the train station but it kept getting diverted to the Alhambra on top of the hill. After 2 tries we ended up racing to the Main Street (a bit of a distance with bags and people with an injured leg) and hail a taxi from there. We made our train with 5 mins to spare! The apartment is in a Very central location- close to the Alhambra (but a bit of a walk up hill) and also the main shopping area. The person organizing the apartment was very responsive. We stayed in room 3.

Amazing place to stay in Granada. A cozy place located in a great part of Granada with easy access to the best of the city. The views of the Alhambra are incredible and the apartment is kept in great condition. Comfortable beds, spacious accommodation with easy check-in and a more than kind host. It was really a dream place. I recommend it 100%.

Our family of 4 adults stayed here in late April. We booked the apartment called Apartment - Ground Floor Two-Bedrooms Literas (apartment #1). When we booked in February, this was unfortunately the only 2 BR apartment available in this building. We booked based on the positive reviews, neighborhood, and proximity to the Alhambra. The 2nd bedroom is very small with very little space for suitcases. The bunk bed is very rickety for 2 adults. There is a very off-putting odor in that room in the morning. We would have preferred 2 pillows for the full bed instead of the one long pillow that we had because my husband and I have completely different preferences for pillows. Our taxi from the train station dropped us off at Carrera del Darro right at the entrance to C. Horno del Vidrio. We only needed to walk about 80 ft. Even though it was 90 F outside, the apartment stayed very cool. In fact, some of us needed to wear our jackets inside. The apartment has an excellent location, within walking distance to the Alhambra and close to restaurants, a small grocery store, and a gelato shop. After a *lot* of walking while touring the Alhambra, we were happy to take the C32 bus from the Puerta Justica to the Paseo del Padre Manjon stop which is across from Restaurante Ruta del Azafran (very close to the apartment). The shower was the best feature of the apartment and had plenty of hot water. We were supplied a combination body wash/shampoo/conditioner. Unfortunately, there is no shelf in the shower, so the soap and shampoo have to go on the floor. We recommend installing a shelf. The kitchen was nicely stocked. There were exactly 5 place settings (but only 3 knives). We were supplied dishwashing liquid and 2 tablets for the washing machine. We would have liked a dish drying rack for the cutlery and glasses we washed. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace for viewing the Alhambra at night, up about 3 flights of stairs.

A strong smells of damp as soon as you step inside (traces of damp on the walls as you can see in the pictures). Cleanliness leaves to be desired, as shown by the photos of dirt in the shower. To top it all off, the apartment is very poorly insulated. If you want to be kept awake until 2 p.m. while the cleaners wake you up at 8 a.m., this is the place for you! Otherwise, I do not recommend.

Amazing location, comfortable although sofa bed was more comfortable to sleep on as a sofa than bed. Great location and amazing value. Very helpful from point of booking to the end; they even let us know our car was too long for local car park which savec a lot if frustration. Will certainly be returning.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Our check-in was at 4:00 PM. Around 1:00 PM, we asked if we could leave our luggage. They said yes, so we went to check in, but there was no one there "working." We contacted them via WhatsApp (because that's how they communicate with us) and they told us to leave our luggage there (alone in reception) and that they would let someone know. Obviously, we didn't. We went to eat after traveling all day, which is understandable since we knew check-in was at 4:00 PM. We returned around 4:10 or 4:15 PM, entered the apartment... and surprise, it wasn't clean (there was still no one at reception). I'll attach photos, and I'll spare you the bad one, since they had last used the bathroom and hadn't even flushed. The smell in the apartment was nauseating (we flushed it to make the smell a little more bearable)...used and rumpled sheets, unwashed dishes, the service...no comment. We told them it wasn't clean, that it was already past 4:00 PM and we wanted to rest, and they said they would notify cleaning. At 4:30/4:40 PM we called again because no one had shown up. We were sitting in a corner because the apartment was disgusting. They answered the phone and, on top of that, implied that if there was a cleaning person around the apartments, I should go find them myself, and that they would keep calling cleaning. We kept waiting, and around 5:00 PM (remember my check-in was at 4:00 PM) they called me and told me to move to a clean apartment immediately. We waited for an hour, without any compensation afterward, not even a simple "Hey, can you check out an hour later?" or an apology for the inconvenience. Sometimes things can't be perfect, and I understand that, but the least someone could do is show up, apologize, and offer some solutions. Otherwise, I'd have written 20 messages and called several times, and no one would have given us a solution. I should emphasize that I never saw anyone at reception during my three-day stay, nor any cleaning staff or other employees. All the access points to the apartment were under construction, something that wasn't mentioned beforehand. I would never return.

A small apartment, but everything was very new and clean. It's very close to the Alhambra, and the bus stop is right next door. The kitchen is basic, but it has everything we need; they even left us coffee capsules for breakfast. Communication via WhatsApp was very smooth, and they helped us with all the information we needed.

Practical Tips for Staying Near the Alhambra

Choosing the right hotel is only half the battle; understanding the logistics of the area will make your trip significantly smoother. The terrain around the Alhambra is hilly, and the streets can be confusing, so preparation is key. Here are some essential tips to help you navigate your stay like a seasoned local.

Book Your Alhambra Tickets Before Your Hotel
This is the single most important piece of advice for visiting Granada. Tickets to the Nasrid Palaces sell out weeks, if not months, in advance. Secure your time slot first, and then book your hotel. Your proximity to the gate will matter little if you cannot get inside.

Pack Comfortable Footwear
You will be walking on cobblestones, uneven pavement, and steep inclines regardless of which nearby hotel you choose. Leave the high heels and slick dress shoes at home. Supportive sneakers or hiking sandals are essential for exploring both the monument grounds and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Use the Cuesta de Gomérez Entrance
If you are staying in the city center or lower Realejo, do not attempt to walk up the main road. The pedestrian path known as Cuesta de Gomérez starts at Plaza Nueva and leads directly up through the woods to the Justice Gate. It is beautiful, shaded, and significantly safer than walking on the roadside.

Understand the Taxi Situation
While the area is walkable, the hills can be exhausting after a long day. Taxis in Granada are relatively inexpensive. If you are staying in the Albaicín, note that some streets are too narrow for cars. Ask your hotel for the best drop-off point, usually Plaza de San Nicolás or Paseo de los Tristes.

Don’t Skip the Local Tabernas
Many visitors stay near the Alhambra and immediately walk downhill to the city center for food. While the center is great, the Realejo district (specifically Campo del Príncipe) offers a more authentic and less touristy dining experience. You will often find better tapas and lower prices just a few steps from your hotel.

Plan for the Afternoon Sun
Granada is hot in the summer, and the area surrounding the Alhambra has little shade once you leave the forested paths. Plan your walks for the morning or late evening. If you are returning to your hotel in the mid-afternoon heat, consider taking a taxi rather than walking up the hill.

Choosing to stay near the Alhambra is a decision that prioritizes atmosphere and convenience. It allows you to connect with the monument on a deeper level, seeing it not just as a tourist attraction but as a living part of the city’s landscape.

Whether you opt for a luxurious room with a view of the towers or a cozy cave house in the hillside, your time in Granada will be defined by this unique location. With a little planning and the right pair of shoes, you are set for an unforgettable stay in one of Spain’s most magical destinations.
