12 Best Hotels in Dijon

Finding the right place to stay in Dijon is about more than just a bed for the night. It is about positioning yourself perfectly to experience the city’s dual identity: a medieval ducal capital and a modern gastronomic hub.

Whether you are walking the Owl’s Trail, exploring the Palace of the Dukes, or venturing into the Côte de Nuits vineyards, your hotel should serve as a comfortable sanctuary. The best accommodations in the city blend Burgundian architectural charm with modern French hospitality.

Dijon is compact, but the atmosphere shifts dramatically from the pedestrianized historic center to the quieter, leafy residential districts. Choosing the right neighborhood is essential to matching your travel style, whether you crave vibrant café culture or tranquil sleep.

For luxury seekers, Dijon offers refined properties housed in historic monuments where service is paramount. These establishments often feature interior courtyards, Michelin-starred dining, and deep connections to the region’s wine heritage.

For the practical traveler, the city boasts a selection of boutique design hotels and reliable upscale chains. These options often provide excellent value, central access to the TGV station, and modern amenities without sacrificing local character.

Here is a curated selection of the best places to stay in the capital of Burgundy, ranging from opulent heritage addresses to stylish contemporary hideaways.

Now here's a review that you need to read before ever getting put off my the negative reviews... Let me tell you why. Ok I am someone who grew up in poverty and as such I get really twitchy if I read reviews that say things like "the rooms are dirty and smelly" because honestly, even in an emergency, I'd rather sleep in the car than in a place like that. So when my good lady wife booked this cheap n cheerful quick stay for me n my boys on our way from middle Netherlands to the French Alps, i was very dubious indeed. I fully expected to be met with a 50/50 chance of a dirty smoky room, or a sort of shabby but bearable short stay.... Neither filled me with optimism and I was unfairly grumpy as we approached the motel - tired and in need of a sleep. Oh but how wrong I was.... The receptionist was fantastic, the rooms spotless... IMMACULATE! with charging ports everywhere, great showers, loads of toilets etc and a decent breakfast for next to nothing. I was so impressed I asked my wife to rebook on our way back home, and instead of booking one room, she booked two! Now of course it is possible to get a room, that maybe has been smoked in (against the rules) and maybe even still a bit smelly after a clean.... BUT I'd bet my right arm it would be a very very rare situation and one that could happen in any hotel. Honestly - the rooms, the bedding, the toilets (even the ones that clean themselves by hosing themselves with water that makes you think someone has pissed on the seat lol) are all immaculate. I could not be more happy with the place.
Marvin Rijnders★★★★☆
Hotel room was good. Small but had airco and a good small bathroom. Everything was clean. 4 stars due to the poor breakfest. This hotel is intended as cheap, nice pass through for us to get to Spain 2 day trip.
Terry Jacksonxg★★★☆☆
I was surprised how quiet the rooms are. Double rooms with sink HC water. Window for fresh air. Very basic breakfast offering. Lots of parking.
Michael★☆☆☆☆
The place is a rip off. There was a disgusting smell in the room. I didn’t find it safe to sleep there, not knowing what chemical caused the smell. The guy at the reception said I would get a refund. Turns out that is not the case.
Joe Funnell★★★★★
Stayed here on the way to skiing. At €31 euros you honestly don’t get better for three of us. I am tight so opted naturally for the cheapest option. There was what I can only describe as human scat on the floor, one of my travel buddy’s spent the whole night itching. Lastly the room was like falling asleep in an ash tray it smelt so bad. All in all for €11 each an incredible 6 hour stay. Let’s just say I wasn’t tight on the route home.

Excellently located in the town centre with restaurants and boulangeries within walking distance. We had a small plumbing issue (possibly caused by previous guest's misdemeanour...) that was fixed almost immediately by one of the receptionists - impeccable hospitality! Parking immediately underneath the hotel is also perfectly convenient.
Amanda Sedivy★★★★★
Very good hotel. Checkin/bar staff are nice. Rooms are clean and there is air conditioning. Very close to restaurants and the owl trail.
Dee Power★★★☆☆
The hotel is actually quite good. Clean, modern and the rooms are functional. However, a few small things spoil the picture. The blind in the room was defective. It was not possible to darken the room. There was only one high chair in the breakfast room. That was far too little. So many families and only one chair for children. That was not a good start to the day, breakfast was then very stressful. The breakfast itself was very good, large selection and everything was fresh and delicious. Except for the scrambled eggs. That was disgusting. A ready-made product with a consistency more reminiscent of dry semolina porridge.
Emmira Verdise★☆☆☆☆
The bed sheets were dirty and smelled of sweat, as if they hadn’t been washed. The room was dusty and not clean, and the heater wasn’t working, so the floor felt cold when walking. However, the staff provided good service.
Dwight Schultz★★☆☆☆
Room was small and smelly. Although the bed and sheets were clean the toilet had an urine smell, even after several flushings. Breakfast was nice. The price of more than €150 for one night is to much money for what you get. Only advantage is the parking, €7.50 for 24 hours.

No air conditioning in the room, and there was no information about it before booking. You can’t even open the windows, so the room becomes unbearably hot. This was a very disappointing experience. Never again. 👎🏻 If I could, I would give it -10 stars.

The location is perfect. Close to the center and other touristic areas and hot spots. However our room and fittings don't represent a 4-star hotel compared to other travel experiences we had. The door of the kitchen cabinet isn't working properly (you have to lift it a bit to be able to close it). The room size was good for our 4 members family. Overall the room images promoted on the booking page doesn't match reality. We did not know the real reason why a spa reservation wasn't possible when the day we arrived. So If you want to use the spa, try to book the spa upfront before you arrive. It is "always" full or "under technical maintenance". These were the two reasons we got from different receptionists. Luckily, at our 2nd day when we sat in the inner yard, one of the receptionist shared with us that a spot for a spa was free, so we could enjoy the spa. Big thank you to him! The service at the breakfast buffet do a great job. Somehow they appear stressed and are very "fast" by cleaning up the tables. Stacking up dishes, making noise, etc. Overall the breakfast is great, some vegetables like tomatoes, cucumber and addition fruits would be great. I liked the detox water (Lemon and Lime). The location and the medieval architecture balance the "to be improved service". Other than that it is for me more a 4-star youth hostel for families because any additional service that we used to experience costs more (cleaning room, replacing towels, etc. there is even a price list in the room, felt like a cheap airline service where you have to pay for each service).
Koen Morssink★★★★☆
Overall, a nice stay! 😄 The service was quite good, and the location is absolutely fantastic for exploring. 📍 The room was okay, with some good aspects and a few areas for improvement, like the hygiene and the beds were not made. I'd consider coming back when visiting Dijon.
Bernd A.★☆☆☆☆
No aircon, the beds are for children, 1,4 m wide. No parking. I asked for a foldable bed to add, they don't have.

Great hotel with a perfect location! Our room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The bathroom even had a small bathtub, which was a nice treat after a long day of sightseeing and activities. The breakfast offered a good variety of choices. So there was something for every type of breakfast lover. A big plus was the tram stop right in front of the hotel, making it very easy to get around. There was also a shopping center next door, where I ended up buying an oversized Hello Kitty cushion - an unexpected but fun souvenir! 😄 Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.
Annemieke van Elst★★☆☆☆
I give 2 stars because we came with an Electric car. Loading was 10 euro an hour for 10kw! An insane amount. Tip: next to the hotel is a big shopping mall and there are fast chargers for way less than the hotel costs to charge. The hotel for the rest is awesome. Free plain and sparkling water in the lobby. Sauna and swimmingpool neat and clean. Childrens play room. Rooms are neat. Friendly employees. So the only reason i give 2 stars is bevause of the charging fees.
Rhi Nicole★★★★☆
My boyfriend and I regularly stay at this hotel whenever we’re in Dijon and we’re always pleased with the service. The hotel is lovely, in a great location right next to the tram and Toison d’Or, making it perfect for both getting around and a bit of shopping. One of the highlights of our stay is catching up with Tom in the bar. He makes fantastic drinks, creates a great atmosphere, and always goes out of his way to look after guests. The only negatives are that the key cards never seem to work consistently, and during our most recent stay on the 6th floor there was quite a lot of noise from above, which could be disruptive at times. Overall, it’s a hotel we regularly return to and happily recommend to others. We’re already looking forward to coming back again next month.
Emma Williamson★★★★★
We had a great stay here booking last minute after fleeing a horrible Airbnb in Dijon city centre (4 Rue Diderot). The air conditioning is fabulous in summer and our triple and double rooms were very comfortable, with even a pillow menu to choose from. Rooms have a small fridge to store food. The provided toiletries are Dove brand. The pool is fantastic on a hot afternoon and there is a free chilled & sparkling water tap in reception. We didn’t eat at the in-house restaurant but instead ordered Uber Eats and ate it in the lounge. There is a big shopping centre adjacent with everything that you could possibly need, as long as it’s not a Sunday. The tram into central Dijon is right outside. The only drawbacks we experienced was that water pressure in the shower is very low and the electric car chargers are extremely expensive. If you need to charge, go to the fast chargers nearby which are 1/3 of the price of Holiday Inn.
P J★★★★★
Good night next to a major shopping center, and the best thing about the hotel is that it has awesome water pressure if you enjoy taking showers with good water pressure you would love this. They also have a sauna in case you're interested. Highly recommended to enroll in the IHG rewards program to use discounts.

The hotel is on the highway which is fine when you`re coming by car. We found the entrance to the hotel parking difficult so had to make our way back to the hotel again. Parking is big enough. The room was big, clean and modern but basic as most Ibis hotels in France.

I have visited this hotel several times in the last couple of years, as I visit a family member regularly. I have always found the staff friendly, helpful and working very well as a team. The rooms I have been allocated have always been spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast is also very good. This hotel is also very conveniently placed near a tram line. A very satisfied customer.
Lucy NNN★★★★☆
Good value for money. Parking was a bit hard to find, would have been nice to have a sign there. Receptionist was never at reception and had to be called. Apart from that all was good. No restaurants or shops in walking distance. Rooms were clean and modern.
Mark Goodman (Jovial Mark)★★★★☆
Lovely hotel but advertised secure parking a mystery. Receptionist seemed to know very little about it other than it is not owned by the hotel…bizarre. Beautifully clean and comfortable but being made to feel uncomfortable at breakfast is unacceptable. Stacking chairs on tables while we were eating 30 minutes before breakfast ended is not okay. Shame as this is not the B&B way usually.

For a stop mid travel, the hotel is well located and does the job well. The air conditioning is quite loud so can be hard to sleep.
Sebastiano T.★★☆☆☆
Very basic, old furnitures and smell of smoke in the corridors. Pretty expensive for what it offers. Also kinda insane £12 for a dog where most hotels of this category charge £6. Would not recommend unless it's your only option.

Not Family-Friendly at All This hotel is definitely not suitable for families with children. I called before booking to make sure they had a baby cot, but when we arrived, they gave us a cot without a mattress — just a cover and a thin blanket. How could a baby possibly sleep safely like that? Completely unacceptable. On top of that, the breakfast was very disappointing. Everything was just packaged food, nothing fresh at all. Overall, this place was a big letdown and I would not recommend it, especially if you’re traveling with kids.
Wiktoria★★★★★
I was only here for the restaurants, I didn't have a hotel room booked. The restaurant is amazing, the food is very tasty, and the staff is friendly. No one in the big group I was in spoke french, but the waitresses knew some English so we could comfortably communicate with them. The restaurant venue looks gorgeous, I recommend it 😊

Okay I want to be precise, it has been so long and I am late to make this review I took a room in this hotel in 2018, but I can still remember every moment spent there, thanks to their excellent receptionists, as well as the great service, not to mention cleanliness of the rooms and good prices. This hotel was my first residence when I've arrived to France, wonderful experience easy 5 stars, and very recommended.

A lovely clean room with good French style comfy bed and clean bathroom. Kitchenette was clean and coffee machine excellent. I would stay here again
Christi C★★★☆☆
The shower head is too large for the shower cubicle making it impossible to wash one’s hair as there is not enough space to keep out of the water to do so. Most poorly planned shower I have experienced. The style of the room is decent but the room had not been vacuumed and the bed spreads were covered with dust and hair. The size of the room was comfortable though. I did not fall asleep until almost dawn as all the loud music and engine noises from cars outside could be heard until 4am or so. Location is convenient for exploring Dijon by foot.
Malek Malke★★★★★
Perfect choice, everything was clean, with good public access to the city center. Very spacious rooms and very attentive staff. The room was large and although not too fancy it was clean and comfortable. There are plenty of public parking spots around and a paid parking a the hotel which is pretty convenient. I will definitely be staying at the hotel again when I come back to Dijon!

Awful experience. Very bad smell. Very noisy. Bed sheets not cleaned. Noises in the corridors the whole night. Management not willing to change our room …. In the end we had to take another hotel room because no one wanted to take into consideration our request. On top, the hotel management was supposed to contact us to propose a type of reimbursement but after 1 week radio silence and even when they replied to this comment they just do as if nothing happened. So, please AVOID THIS PLACE. And for the Hotel Management, I'm still waiting for your call or email to get my money back.

An absolute amazing experience. Called in advance to ask for an early check in and I was helped so wonderfully. When we arrived we could drive into the parking at the hotel before checking in so there was no stress. The location is amazing. dead center of the city, we did all by foot. We will be back for sure.

The positives: good location lovely building from the outside, decent breakfast. The room was very cramped no room to move around the bed. The bathroom had nowhere to put washbags and nowhere to hang we bath towels. Probably the worst Ibis room I've stayed in. Advertised as having wooden floors but our room had a carpet.
Francois & Pam BELORGEY★★★★☆
We had a lovely stay here. Great view of the place and historic Post Office building. Parking nearby and at a great rate. Restaurant buffet breakfast was nice with freshly squeezed orange juice. Just room needs a second chair and a toilet brush. Acid needed to properly clean the toilet too. Would recommend and we would come back ! Central location, grab the owl map from reception to do the historic walk around the ville ! Just around the corner from the first mustard shop opened in France in 1747. The hotel is a lovely Art deco building.

Nice location, nice hotel in general. The negative points were: 1) some staffs were unpleasant and unwelcome. 2) new year’s dinner was very expensive but not exceptional. Only the meet was tasteful and the menu kids was poor and not even tasteful.
Atti Emecz★★★★★
My wife and I were visiting Burgundy for art and wine (and cheese..and beer!) and this hotel provided an excellent base for us. It is itself a lovely looking hotel (the exterior is in the art nouveau style) but we enjoyed everything about the hotel. The location is superb, close to the station but on the old town side so also close to all the sights and restaurants. We were able to conveniently day trip to Besancon, Dole and Chalon-sur-Saone using the trains and also the minibus pick up for a group wine tasting was very close by. The room was clean, spacious (for the type) and quiet. Our only minor issue was the window restrainer as we woudl have preferred to have it open further but I suspect that is goverened by some legislation. The breakfast was brilliant. You expect lovely bread and cheese in France and you certainly got that but there was plenty of choice also of cold meat, pastries, cereals and some local delicacies (nonnettes). Most importantly for any fussy Brits, they had English Breakfast tea ....and a decent blend at that. We always take some emergency stocks with us. I was delighted to say they were not need. The staff were also brilliant - helpful, professional and friendly and happy to engage with us in English. We are always self conscious about our ability to speak French but staff were great in making us feel welcome. I use Accor hotels a lot for work (so am a member) across all their brands but am happy to say that the Ibis Styles, Dijon Central is the best hotel in that brand that I have used.
Leila Saidi★★★★★
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a fantastic experience. The location is excellent, just steps from the high street and great restaurants. The breakfast was a standout, with freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh bread, pastries and other delicious options. The rooms were clean, quiet, and the beds super comfortable. What really makes this hotel special is the friendly, helpful staff who go above and beyond to assist. I return every year and am consistently satisfied. Highly recommended!

Just a quick over night stop from the alps, back to the uk. As always, this B&B hotel provided us with a great nights sleep. We like the locked parking, super comfortable mattress and pillows, aircon was appreciated, along with lovely hot shower. This hotel a little more tired than other B&B hotels we have stayed in the past, however it would not deter us from staying again
Gijs★★★☆☆
The location is great for a night on the road in France but I would not stay again. The beds were very hard, the room was too warm (it was not warm outside), the (ineffective) ventilation was noisy and the airconditioning was not working; just blowing warm air, even when put on ‘cold’. The room was clean and the shower great, to end on a positive note. But I’m afraid I can’t recommend it.
Lynsey Gray★★★☆☆
I’ve stayed at many different B&B hotels in France, so I was surprised by this one as I’ve only had good experiences in others. Firstly parking - near impossible. The car park was full of Europcar vans and trucks, some blocking up to 3 spaces, so we only just managed to get parked. The machine to gain access doesn’t have contactless which is a bit of a pain, not a big deal, but should have been a clue as to how dated the inside would be. There’s no lift (not that we could find) so be warned if you can’t manage with stairs or have heavy cases to carry. The hallways and rooms smell old and stuffy, and the bathroom is very dated, though I will say very clean. That said we did sleep very well. It was quiet, and the air con was working well.
Mick Dickinson★★★☆☆
I am a big fan of the overall B&B Hotels offer based mainly on price and convenience but disappointed on this stop over at Dijon Nord where the room and bathroom were tired, dated and a bit sad.
Noora Hayrinen★★☆☆☆
Be aware of the arrival after 10pm. We arrived tired and had to be dealing with a machine to obtain a check in... And of course it did not work. After having driven 700km it was not what I expected. The gentleman on the help line was very helpful but it took over 20 minutes to get the check in done ... 20 minutes too much after having been driving for hours and with exhaustion.

Super friendly and helpful staff! Clean rooms - good matresses. Nice breakfast buffet. Ideally located: close to train station, tram stop and in easy walking distance to most sights.
Lisa Schwander★★★★★
Can't say a negative thing about this place. It's a 2 minute walk from the main train station, which was the main reason I chose it. The man who welcomed my daughter and me at reception could not have been more kind and helpful. The room was very quiet and the bed super comfy. Yes there are vibrations from the trains/trams, but that's expected (I've felt much worse from staying right above the tube tracks in London). I would definitely stay here again.
Jelly Tree★★★★★
Excellent location, very close to the train station and also the Old Town. Many restaurants are located around this area, or you can walk just 10-15 minutes to the Old Town. Even though the main train station and a tram station are located just in front of the hotel, the room was very quiet (we faced the tram station on the 1st floor and didn't have any issue with noise). The room was high-ceiling, very clean, had a water cooker, safety box and TV, bathroom had a very good shower with hot water, and the beds were very comfortable. The receptionist at this hotel is very friendly and provided us with plenty of information. We really enjoyed our stay in Dijon thanks to this hotel and we can highly recommend it to anybody. Unfortunately, we didn't take any photos, but if you travel by train to Dijon, this hotel is an ideal choice.

Overall, the hotel was quite good, but unfortunately it was very dirty. There were stains and hairs everywhere, and there was also mould in the ventilation system in the bathroom. It was fine for one night, but we wouldn’t recommend staying any longer. It is also quite a walk to the city centre (30min). On the positive side, the view was beautiful.

I booked a room for one night based on the information provided during the reservation process, which indicated that free parking was included. Upon arrival, my vehicle was already parked when the receptionist informed me that I was not allowed to park there. Unfortunately, the situation was handled in a very unprofessional manner. Rather than helping to clarify the misunderstanding, the receptionist refused to allow me to proceed to my room until I moved my vehicle. Since my reservation through Expedia.com was non-refundable, I had no practical alternative. The situation escalated unnecessarily, and I ultimately had to contact the police in the middle of the night to resolve what should have been a simple communication issue. In addition to the parking problem, the room itself did not meet my expectations. It appeared poorly maintained, had an unpleasant odor, and did not feel adequately clean. While I understand that this is a 3-star hotel and adjust my expectations accordingly, basic cleanliness, courteous customer service, and reasonable problem-solving should still be standard. Overall, this was a disappointing experience due to both the customer service and the condition of the room. I hope management reviews its guest service procedures and communication regarding parking policies to prevent similar situations for future guests.

Tips for Choosing Your Ideal Stay in Dijon

Before you finalize your reservation, it is wise to consider a few logistical and cultural nuances that can make or break your trip to Burgundy. Understanding the layout of the city and the local customs regarding hospitality will help you secure the best value and experience.

  • Book Well Ahead for Autumn: The harvest season (September to October) and the International Gastronomy Fair in November cause room rates to spike and availability to plummet. If you are visiting for wine tasting during these months, secure your room at least two to three months in advance.
  • Check Air Conditioning Policies: While Dijon generally enjoys a temperate climate, summer heatwaves are becoming increasingly common. Many historic buildings in the old town do not have air conditioning due to heritage protection laws. If you are traveling in July or August, verify that your room offers climate control or at least high-powered fans.
  • Prioritize Pedestrian Zone Access: The historic center is largely car-free. If you are driving, ensure your hotel offers private parking or is located just outside the restricted traffic zones (ZFE) with easy tram access. Navigating the narrow medieval streets by car can be stressful and result in fines.
  • Look for "Logis" or Independent Boutiques: For a truly authentic Burgundian experience, look for hotels that are part of the Logis association or family-run independents. These properties often provide a warmer, more personalized level of service and local knowledge compared to larger international brands.
  • Consider Your Departure Point: If you are taking an early morning TGV train to Paris or Lyon, staying near the Dijon Ville station or the Porte Neuve area can save you a rushed morning. The city center is walkable, but dragging luggage over cobblestones at 6 AM is not pleasant.

Ultimately, the perfect hotel in Dijon acts as a bridge between the city’s storied past and your own journey. Whether you opt for a room overlooking the tiled roofs of the Burgundian skyline or a sleek suite near the station, the goal is to feel immersed in the slow, savory rhythm of French life.

Take your time selecting a base that suits your itinerary, and you will find that Dijon is not just a stopover on the way to the vineyards, but a destination worthy of a long, lingering stay. From the first morning croissant to the last evening glass of Pinot Noir, your accommodation sets the tone for a memorable Burgundian escape.
