Stephanie Loo★★★★★
Lovely garden and beautifully curated. Absolutely loved my time here and had a great morning walk and exercise!

We were told to visit this park, hoping to see some nice flowers. But end of august it seems that the flowers are not as beautiful as they probably would be during spring. But nevertheless its a nice park to walk through and enjoy the quietness of a park in a city. Enough place to sit in the shadow during hot days in summer. Some gardeners would be nice to clean up the sides and some bins for people to throw their dirt. Now we have seen beer cans between the flowers. For us it's a one time visit as it was not that special to walk 2km from our hotel Grand Hotel la Cloche.
Michael Moriarity★★★★★
This Botanical Garden and Arboretum is located quite near the Gare Dijon and there is a pathway leading to the Garden..the garden contains nearly 4000 plant species..there are easy walking paths throughout the garden and plenty of benches for relaxation…there are a diversity of wild and cultivated plants..we spent three hours in this fabulous garden area..

Lovely garden with a variety of plants organized in a maze-like way. Pretty trails, a playground, and two museums (free). I've brought a person in a wheelchair before and it's fine.

What a wonderful garden, so peaceful and restoring. Although it was a cold day, it was easy to spend a long time there admiring all the plants, birds and red squirrels. Interesting information throughout the gardens also available in English. Amazing history to this garden going back to the 18th century and trees hundreds of years old

Cosy place to rest and recover during a city trip. You can refil your water bottle. We visited in July and everything was burned, but still nice.

A beautiful but small park. It reminded me a bit of Central Park Bethessa Terrace / Fountain in NYC. The water fog machine was highly appreciated

Nhan Vu★★★★☆
Everything you need to „escape“ the city. Play areas, some small animals, small river banks at the northern end of the park. Did also an evening run here.
L.J. Kiefer★★★★☆
Went for a small picnic for lunch while on a roadtrip through France, bought some local Charcuterie and enjoyed Parc Colombière. The Parks in France are amazing! Unfortunately the toilets are really off-putting, hence one star being deducted...should take more off but the green spaces in the city more than makes up for it
Samuel Rutishauser★★★★★
Excellent park, love it. Trees, interesting layout, room to walk and sit as well.

Great green are a bit outside of the centre but walkable. The playground is great for all ages. Lots of nice trees and birds. The best thing: free parking. The worse thing: the toilets are in really bad condition. Avoid them. They should clean them more often.
Nicole Gleissner★★★★★
It's so close to Dijon, but feels a world away. We only hiked for an hour before lunch and the experience left an indelible impression. We made it from the parking lot to a cave high in the mountain side with sprawling views over the valley. Then we continued further up to the top of the incline where the trail leveled off. It's quite accessible if you have a reasonable level of fitness. We even took our cat along to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Highly recommended

Manon MANON★★★★★
A wooded park brimming with possibilities: A circular path for children's bike rides and running; a large lawn for ball games, picnics, and reading; two children's play areas with sandboxes, swings, and play structures (including a separate, gated area for toddlers); benches scattered throughout; several picnic tables; opportunities to observe and listen to a wide variety of birds; information panels; a dog park; public restrooms; multiple entrances; shaded and sunny spots; small and large dogs for animal lovers; and even, if you take the time, a little squirrel 🐿️! But shh 🤫, don't tell anyone or it won't come out anymore....
H.-O. Wagner★★★★★
A small castle with an adjacent public park. Historically interesting, it commemorates the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. The building is currently closed but is undergoing restoration and is in good condition. Its location in a modern residential area is surprising. However, 100 years ago it stood alone outside of Dijon.
Mireille Jérôme patoux★★★★★
A small, unpretentious park right in the city. Lots of greenery, so a breath of fresh air is guaranteed. There's a playground for children. And a lovely lawn, perfect for a birthday picnic or anything else! I'm spending my recovery there after an operation; it's ideal.
Delphine Chopin★★★★☆
Small park in Dijon. A bit small, but very good for young children. Children's play area. Grassy space to play. Activities organized by the town hall. This week, archery. We had a great time.

Nice trails easy to walk or run. I’d imagine a stroller would push easily. I see many people with dogs on-leash and it appears people pick up after their dogs (I see no poop on trail) Close to tram. Cute little playground. Adult exercise/flexibility/balance area.

Another beautiful park west of Dijon. The path that winds through the bottom of the eponymous Combe leads from the "Patte d'Oie" (Goose Foot) to the Combe à la Serpent nature park. Bordered by beautiful houses at a distance, it's a haven of peace and nature on the edge of the city.

Tips for Enjoying Dijon’s Parks

To make the most of your time outdoors, it helps to understand the local etiquette and the best times to visit these natural attractions. The parks in Dijon are living spaces that change dramatically with the seasons, and a little preparation can significantly enhance your experience. Here are a few practical tips to ensure you enjoy the green spaces like a true local.

Check the seasonal opening hours. While some larger parks are open year-round, many smaller gardens have gates that are locked at dusk or close entirely during the winter months. Always verify the current hours online or at the entrance to avoid a wasted trip.

Bring a picnic. Dijon is a culinary capital, so take advantage of the local markets and bring a selection of cheese, bread, and fruit to enjoy on the grass. However, be mindful of signage, as some formal gardens have designated areas where picnicking is restricted to protect the lawns.

Respect the "pelouse interdite" signs. You will often see signs asking visitors to stay off the grass. This is common in French parks to allow the turf to recover. Look for parks that explicitly allow sitting on the lawn, or utilize the many benches provided.

Visit during the golden hour. The early morning and late evening offer the best light for photography and the quietest atmosphere. This is when the parks are primarily used by joggers and locals walking their dogs, offering a more peaceful experience than the busy afternoon hours.

Bring a water bottle. While Dijon is walkable, many of the larger parks have limited food and drink vendors inside. Public water fountains are available in some areas, but carrying your own supply ensures you stay hydrated during the warmer summer months.

Exploring the green spaces of Dijon offers a perfect counterbalance to the rich, heavy cuisine and the deep history of the museums. It allows you to connect with the city on a sensory level, appreciating the scents of the flowers, the texture of the ancient trees, and the warmth of the Burgundian sun. These parks are not just attractions; they are an integral part of the city’s soul and heritage.

Whether you are a passionate horticulturist or simply a traveler looking for a moment of peace, Dijon’s parks and gardens provide a welcoming retreat. They stand as a testament to the city’s commitment to beauty and quality of life, ensuring that every visit, regardless of the season, offers a breath of fresh air.
