17 Best Hotels in Lyon

Lyon sits at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, a city where Renaissance passageways, silk-weaving heritage, and a globally celebrated food scene create an unmistakable sense of place. Whether you are visiting for a long weekend of bouchon-hopping in Vieux Lyon or using the city as a gateway to the Alps, choosing the right base fundamentally shapes your experience.

The best hotels in Lyon are not simply places to sleep; they are extensions of the city’s distinct neighborhoods, from the hilltop serenity of Fourvière to the industrial-chic energy of La Confluence. Unlike Paris or the French Riviera, Lyon offers a more approachable scale, allowing travelers to move easily between historic landmarks and contemporary districts on foot, by metro, or via the efficient Vélo’v bike system.

The hospitality landscape here has evolved rapidly, blending historic silk workshops and grand 19th-century townhouses with sleek, design-forward new builds. This means you can wake up in a room with original parquet floors and Louis XVI detailing, or in a minimalist space with floor-to-ceiling views of the Rhône.

For food-focused travelers, location is particularly important. Staying near Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse places you steps from the city’s temple of gastronomy, while a room in the Presqu’île puts you within walking distance of late-night bouchons serving cervelle de canut and quenelles.

Business travelers, by contrast, often prioritize proximity to Lyon Part-Dieu station and the modern business district, where connectivity and efficiency take precedence over historic charm. The city’s geography is defined by its two rivers and two hills, creating micro-neighborhoods with distinct atmospheres.

The Presqu’île offers classic elegance and shopping, Vieux Lyon delivers medieval character and tourist energy, Croix-Rousse provides a bohemian village feel, and the Left Bank of the Rhône brings a more residential, local rhythm. Understanding these distinctions is key to matching a hotel to your travel style, whether you seek nightlife, quiet mornings, or immediate access to cultural landmarks.

Lyon also serves as a strategic hub for exploring the wider Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, including the Beaujolais wine route and the perched villages of the Dombes. Many of the city’s top hotels offer concierge services that can arrange wine tastings, market tours, and private transportation, elevating a simple city break into a deeper regional immersion.

The best properties understand that modern travelers want authentic local connection, not just a comfortable bed. With a metro system that is clean, frequent, and inexpensive, even hotels slightly outside the historic core offer excellent value without sacrificing accessibility.

The following selection reflects a range of budgets, styles, and neighborhoods, each chosen for its distinctive character, consistent service, and ability to enhance your time in France’s gastronomic capital. From five-star palace-style addresses to intimate boutique hideaways, these are the properties that define Lyon’s hospitality scene.

Don’t park here if you don’t want to be robbed — or better yet, don’t stay at this hotel at all! Not only by thieves, but also by the hotel itself. It was like a joke! When we checked in, we paid and were given an indoor parking space. Before going out, we asked the woman at the reception whether our parking space would still be available if we came back late, and she said yes. However, when we returned at midnight, the bald guy at the reception did not allow us to park in the indoor garage. We then parked on the street (a free parking spot). After that, he showed us another parking lot (It was an outdoor parking lot as well) belonging to the hotel. We asked him if it was okay to park where we had already parked, and he said it was okay! (Like he didn’t know the situation or maybe he knows the thieves — we don’t know.) So we parked there, and when we asked for our parking fee back, he said they would not refund it. In the end, we paid 8€ for parking, had to park outside, and lost belongings worth 3,500€. And our entire vacation was ruined. He did not informed us, so we are WARNING you: do not park on this street — or better yet, do not stay at this hotel at all! ————————— The parking spot you suggested to us was also an open-air area, and when we arrived, its gate was still open. Therefore, we assumed it made no difference whether we parked there or on the street. Your hotel’s camera partially covers the area where we parked. Your receptionist was even watching the street when I arrived! Due to your laws, we were not allowed to access the camera recordings unfortunately! Even a man from the street who came to us after seeing that we had been robbed knew that the area was dangerous and that such incidents happen frequently. Yet your receptionist did not warn us about this at all — on the contrary, he confirmed that it was okay for us to park there. And after we were robbed — because of your negligence — you only offered to refund our money. Thanks to your professionalism!

I was happy with my one night stay there. It seemed the best option for the southern part of the city. The room was well decorated and large enough. The bed was super comfortable, and I had a very good sleep. I did not hear any disturbing noise. The room was clean. The only problem with the room is that the bathroom and toilet were not comfortable enough if you would like to stay more. The toilet is directly facing the wall. They could improve the toiletries. Also, when I asked for slippers to use after shower, which I was provided with at all other hotels, the staff was quite surprised. The breakfast was very good. I wish they provided explanations in English. Also, the selection was a bit limited for vegans and vegetarians. As an example, I could not see any plant based milk. I hesitated to ask due to the language barrier we experienced earlier. There is a fountain at the entrance. So, I recommend bringing your own bottle. The restaurant was nice, although the selection is limited (especially for vegans/vegetarians).

We stayed here last minute and didn’t expect too much given that it was quite a budget hotel, but we did expect cleanliness. Unfortunately when we were about to give our son a shower, we noticed dirty underwear slung over the top of the shower from the previous guest. Not ideal. Reception were not interested when we informed them, and said there were no rooms to change to. Hotel is run down, communal areas are filthy, air con is not effective and the room was very tatty. The location is good if you need to go to the Gare Part Dieu, but I would not recommend this hotel at all.
Sebastien Bertrand★★★★☆
Nothing fancy but fine for a quick night between two trains. All the other comments are valid (room is small, mold smell near reception, not very efficient staff), but all in all, for 65 eur a night, this is what I was looking for, the room was rather modern (water-efficient shower is crap) and it’s a 5 min walk to/from the train station. AC in the room was working fine (not at reception) but note that the kitchen of the restaurant advertised by the hotel closes at 9:30 pm (despite the 24/24 advertised everywhere). Would likely come back

Wouldn’t recommend this place whatsoever. Upon arrival the lobby smelled an unpleasant odor. The rooms were not cleaned and if they were, it was done with no attempt to actually have the purpose be to have a clean room. There was some type of stains on the walls in the room. The bathroom kept reeking of a smell of sewers. The toilet seat had a pee stain on it. The bed sheets and blankets had stains and hair on them. There was a wrapper shoved in the crevice of the top bunk. There was also chewed gum on the bottom of the top bunk bed. There was a light right above the bed that flickered anytime it was turned on. I had no room the put my belongings in the room whatsoever due to the false advertising for the photos of booking. I expressed my complaints to the staff and no attempt to make up for my lack of satisfaction was made. One of the female workers at the front desk was also very rude and full on ignored me when I needed some help. I am unhappy with my stay and wish I would’ve known this would’ve been my experience before hand. If you have any other option to stay somewhere else, I highly recommend you do so.
MC Reviews★★★★☆
My experience (2 people, double-bed room on the 5th floor, with breakfast, during the low season – January 2026) is very different from the reviews posted here. I’d like to start by highlighting the excellent value for money! Very central location (10 minutes on foot from Part-Dieu station), 24-hour reception, air conditioning working very well, room with the necessary space (note: we were traveling with just one backpack each), window with very good sound insulation from outside noise, very comfortable bed, good room and bathroom cleanliness. Although the shower is eco-friendly, it had enough pressure for a proper shower. There was a shower gel dispenser in the shower, which even smelled nice. Another positive point was the free water machine (including sparkling water). The breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide variety of options and quality products. Less positive points (but I would stay here again!): little sound insulation between rooms (and yes, you can hear the train a bit — but believe me, the difference with or without the window closed is huge, and our room faced the back); they could provide one more small towel (for hands or to place on the floor after the shower); one of the elevators was out of order, so it sometimes took a long time (and it was often better to take the stairs); breakfast is served in the building right next door, so you have to go outside and face the cold and/or rain to get there.

The center of Lyon is Part Dieu with its business centers and main railway station. Première Class in 10 minutes walking distance from Gare Part Dieu. The rooms are clean and climatised, breakfast is fantastic and the staff are extremely friendly. I plan to stay there again if I visit Lyon again.

For the price this was a very nice hotel. We didn't buy the breakfast because at our hostel in Switzerland it wasn't worth the expense charge. I wish we had bought breakfast here! It looked delicious and there were lots of options, even gluten free options if requested!! Rooms were spacious and the staff were very helpful. Only downside were the mattresses were quite hard. It was easy to get to the transit from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel!

I booked one night in a 4-bed dorm room. Overall, the experience was good. The place was clean, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was satisfying. The hostel has a really nice vibe, with the building and rooms painted in bright colors that create a welcoming atmosphere. One thing I really appreciated was that the room had air conditioning. I visited France during a heatwave, so having A/C made a huge difference and made the stay much more comfortable.

By far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in France. Everything was spotless and very well maintained, and the room was comfortable, modern, and had everything I needed for my stay. The location is excellent, with easy access to public transport and many attractions nearby, making it very convenient to explore the city. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with any questions. The breakfast was amazing, with a great variety of fresh options every morning. It was one of the highlights of my stay and a perfect way to start the day. I also appreciated the overall atmosphere of the hotel, it felt safe, organized, and well run. The common areas were clean and inviting, and the facilities were excellent. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area! 😊

Very affordable accommodation in a great location, only about a 30-minute walk from Lyon’s Old Town. Everything is clean, tidy and well maintained. The rooms are very spacious, the breakfast is good, and all the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. A special mention goes to Muhamed from Senegal, who will definitely stay in our memory for his kindness and great sense of humor. He helped me in the underground parking garage, which is quite narrow and tricky to navigate 😂 He was so kind and helpful! Overall, a very pleasant stay and a great value for money.

Full air conditioning! No joke, no twist. This hotel has everything you need to have a pleasant stay in Lyon. Breakfast was good and plentiful, the rooms are simple but comfortable, and the shower pressure was outstanding. The location makes it ideal to visit all of southeastern France, and even Switzerland which is just 2 hours away. As if this weren’t enough, the staff is very friendly and speak multiple languages. And, did I mention the air conditioning is no joke!

The AC in the room didn't work and there was just an old fan in the room. As it was already late in night we didn't want to change the room anymore, but of course with still around 30 degrees outside it was not comfortable to rest and sleep. The rooms and hotel itself are also quite outdated and far from 4 star level hotel. In addition the location is not ideal as it the evening it was really noisy due to road noise. So I can now recommend in terms of comfort and quality.

Hôtel Mercure Lyon Centre Château Perrache is a charming hotel situated in a prime location near the heart of Lyon, making it an excellent choice for visitors. As it was my first visit to Lyon, I found Château Perrache perfectly situated for exploring the city’s main attractions and transportation hubs. The room I stayed in was spacious, comfortably furnished with modern decor, and had a charming ambiance that made me feel at home. It was spotlessly clean, with thoughtful touches such as a re-filled water bottle each day and complimentary drinks in the minibar. However, I must mention a disappointing aspect: both hotel entrances appeared unwelcoming and quite plain. I understand this is due to ongoing construction work, which initially caught me off guard upon arrival. On a positive note, the hotel staff truly stood out. Their service was exceptional, I would confidently rate them a 10 out of 10. Every staff member I encountered was genuine, friendly, and professional without being overly familiar. Special praise goes to the restaurant and bar staff, as well as the two ladies and a young gentleman at the reception desk. Although I regret not remembering their names, their attentive service made a lasting impression. Overall, I believe Mercure could elevate its guest experience by adopting the excellent customer service standards demonstrated at Château Perrache across all areas of the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Mercure Lyon Centre Perrache. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the location is excellent for exploring Lyon. Our room offered a beautiful view of the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, which made our stay even more special. The hotel has a charming historic atmosphere. However, some areas of the hotel could benefit from renovation, as they feel a bit outdated. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return.

Georg was the highlight of my stay. I experienced the worst modern-day traveling accident anyone could experience: loss of phone. Thankfully I had credit cards on me. My Uber driver returned my phone and Georg brought it straight to my room. This is all past 0100. Georg was so kind and had great energy about him. I never saw him again but I'll never forget him (and the Uber driver). Great location to public transportation, and a tasty, plentiful breakfast at Belle Saisons. Allez Les Bleus!!!🇨🇵 ⚽️ 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Hotel has 4 stars, which does not correspond with his quality. It is a beautiful building, but very old and needs the renovation! Location is good (near the train station and center), but quite noisy. Rooms are clean, beds confortable. Breakfests are sufficient.

This hotel is a mixed bag, we had a suite, which was a very good size room, but the fold out sofa bed was the worst we ever experienced, too uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was large but even after asking 2 times still no one replaced the empty conditioner container. The pool was a very welcome end to the day, especially with 30+ temperature. But it's far too small for this family oriented hotel with sometimes nearly 40 people in the pool at once. Chaos!! The hotel is easy to reach with the tram and there are restaurants nearby. Overall it is good value for money but don't expect a 4 star experience and facilities.

I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed by Novotel Lyon Gerland Musee des Confluences. We've stayed at Novotel hotels in other cities and other hotels within the Accor chain, but the facilities at Novotel Lyon Gerland Musee des Confluences did not, in my opinion, live up to being a 4 stars hotel. The positive things first: - The hotel is close to tramway T1 stop Halle Tony Garnier (3 min walk) - The fresh bread at the breakfast buffet was good - There are water fountains in each floor so that one can fill up water bottles - The staff was friendly Improvement points: - The hotel has a gym including 2 bikes, one cross-traininer/ellipsentrainer and one row machine. However, there are no mats in the gym and only 1 set of 2x1kg dumbbells and 2x2kg dumbbells - There were no amenities kit in the bathroom, e.g. cotton pads and cotton swabs - There was no toilet brush in the bathroom - I am not usually picky when it comes to coffee, but the coffee from the coffee machine at the breakfast buffet was awful
Benjamin Doughan★★★☆☆
This is a pretty basic hotel in terms of room and amenities. The room AC does not function well, connectivity is poor, bed was ok and water pressure was pretty good. The gym was poor and the location was not convenient to most things people would be going to see other than the Museum. I did not eat at the hotel so cannot rate that. I would not recommend this unless you like sleeping at 25C.

I am writing to formally bring to your attention a highly disappointing experience during our recent weekend stay at your property, specifically regarding the handling of a room comfort issue by your management team. During our stay, our room was uncomfortably hot. While the front desk staff was polite and attempted to assist by offering a small fan and a room switch, it quickly became apparent that the entire hotel's air conditioning system was malfunctioning. Changing rooms did not resolve the issue, and relying on a small, personal-sized fan is far below the standards of an Accor Group property. Following our stay, we escalated this issue via email to address the discomfort. The response we received from a member of your management team, Benedicte Flahaut, was entirely unprofessional. While the message included standard pleasantries at the beginning and end, the core body of the email was defensive and inappropriately implied that the discomfort was our own fault. This is not the level of service, empathy, or conflict resolution I expect from your brand. As an Accor Group property, I trust you hold your team to higher communication standards. I request that the General Manager review this interaction, as the tone used was completely inappropriate for handling a legitimate guest complaint. I have kept the complete email trail and screenshots of the correspondence, which I am happy to provide for your internal review or potential customer to see if the respond from your team is up to Accor’s standard. I look forward to your prompt response regarding how this situation will be rectified.

Official Complaint: AC deliberately not turned on over the weekend (summer time) and Unacceptable Stay at Mercure Lyon Centre Saxe Ladayette UPDATE on Management Response: Following a formal complaint, Managing Director emailed to defend the hotel's position. She argued that turning off the AC was justified because outdoor nighttime temperatures were 10°C, ignoring daytime solar heat and the mosquito issue. She characterized our discomfort as merely our negative "perception," blamed us for not checking out early, and stated that our 1-star rating was "too severe" given that we completed our two-night stay. This is a clear case of an advertised amenity being centrally disabled without prior disclosure, followed by management blaming the customer for being uncomfortable. What a great hospitality from 4 star hotel. Timeline of Stay: • Saturday: Checked in evening . The central climate control was only blowing warm air. Night staff stated they could not fix it and provided an ineffective portable fans. We were unable to use the windows for ventilation or relief due to mosquitoes. • Sunday: Front desk offered a room change, but the second room had the exact same issue. Staff then confirmed the property's central AC was completely switched off for the season and the building technician was unavailable over the weekend. We filed formal complaint. We checked out on Monday 6am in the morning.
Robertino★★★★☆
While the hotel has a somewhat corporate atmosphere that may not appeal to everyone, it ultimately delivers a solid and comfortable experience overall. The rooms are notably clean and well-maintained, and the staff are consistently pleasant and welcoming, making you feel at ease from the moment you check in. One area that could use some improvement is the nighttime bar menu. The lounge itself is a real highlight — it’s cozy, comfortable, and a great place to wind down after a long day. However, the drink and food selections feel a bit limited for an evening out, and a wider variety of options would go a long way in making it a true destination spot within the hotel. Another small but meaningful upgrade that would elevate the in-room experience would be the addition of an espresso machine. For guests who enjoy starting their morning with a quality cup of coffee without having to leave their room, this kind of thoughtful touch can make a big difference and is something many comparable hotels already offer. Overall, it’s a reliable and comfortable stay with a few easy opportunities for improvement. With some small upgrades, this hotel could easily stand out from the competition.

We needed a hotel for one night as we passed through Lyon on route north. This hotel was perfect as the location allowed us to leave our car safe in the car park and take the metro into the centre to explore the city. Room was clean and comfortable. Quiet during the night. Breakfast was ok but would have liked a croissant being in France. All in all perfect stay.

Told not to take photos. Which would be understandable i guess if not for the fact we where trying to translate. The house rules state no storage of bags at all after or before checkout. which is super inconvenient for travellers. The room was ok but the communal toilets where always wet and dirty. and the showers had what appeared to be black mold. Was unwelcoming except for the guy who was at the front desk in the morning. All in all wouldn’t come back but is ok if your willing to be in a bit of a dodgy area and not so clean bathrooms.

Very basic room but that's to expect for a 2-star restaurant. It is clean which is most important for me. Dogs allowed! Just outside of Lyon which is great if you on the road traveling through Lyon. Nice private parking under the hotel with plenty of space.

It felt like being in a bad movie. The position is suburbane, I chose it because it is close to the road but actually it was not easily accessible. No way to park in the vicinity not even for a quick stop to check-in. This is a gigantic building with dovecote rooms, super small and modern. I asked for a crib in advance but I found none in the room. The upper part of the bathroom door had very dirty drops stained on it. The view was non existent (the wall of the other hotel). We left as quickly as possible in the early morning to never return.

We (two people) arrived at 4 AM -- after 18 hours of driving -- with no reservation, and the night staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. It's a basic budget hotel - nothing fancy and a bit worn - but that whas what we needed. The staff member went above and beyond to help us. He could speak not only English but also Portuguese -- a super positive experience.

Very difficult parking garage. the turns and slopes are narrow and steep. Be very very careful with your car. We have an intermediate SUV ( Ford Kuga) and it was okay. Don't try this with your Tesla X!!!! The parking spots are okay. It's very convenient though parking under the hotel and for free. Would recommend it to everyone . There's just 1 elevator going to the garage so in the morning you'll have a rush hour feeling and have to wait in line for reaching your car again. Unfortunately the airconditioner didnt work in the room. But we could open te window completely. Fresh air . Even better! Nice colors and wood panels. Its good quality for a low cost.

The staff: Very friendly, kind and charming - especially Emily. The room: Why is there no place to put your clothes in? Only hangers... But nothing resembling a closet or even a shelf... Very inconvenient. No separation between toilet and room, no wall, no door. No ventilation in the toilet. Breakfast: No meat at all, eggs and mushrooms are cold, other than that okay. Very nice looking restaurant. Style: The hotel is very well styled, except the lobby, which is almost non-existent. When I first arrived, I thought it was a shop. But that's no big deal. Location: The area is probably convenient for those with a car, and has good public transportation. But it feels isolated and, well, desolate, definitely not an urban environment to enjoy walking in. Wifi: Very good Over all: Would not recommend.

Just checked out of this hotel we stayed one night and checked in late yesterday. Upon arrival we didnt know there was no secure parking at the hotel and had to waste a lot of time getting in and out of another car park 10 mins away. The rooms are all design but no convenience no practicality and no TV. Worst of all the toilets are weird with glass doors for the shower and toilet seat through which you can see everything. Also our room was on the 1st floor with a lot of noise from ppl sitting outside as there is an open terrace on the first floor outside the rooms. But the absolute worst was the staff behaviour at this hotel even while checking in we didnt feel a "welcoming attitude" but on checkout i asked for a 10-15 min extra time as we had wasted half the morning to get our car out of the secure parking far away and had a bad night sleep too - so when I requested politely for 10-15 mins extra the staff member first said No and wanted to charge extra money for such a small extension and then she hesitatingly allowed it but was extremely rude about the whole thing. This has become a common issue in france - many workers are very very rude people they do not smile they dont treat guests (especially foreign guests) nicely and have a major attitude problem , at least 5 out of 10 french people are like this and one needs to point it out to such people otherwise they would never be trained correcrly or know how to treat others. At this hotel I felt very bad the way she treated me and would never ever go to any MOB hotel again. This sort of rudeness will not take them very far and even if they didnt want to give me extra 15 mins they could explain it in a nicer polite way - not the way she snapped at me and treated me. In the end we checked out 12 on the dot and didnt take the extra 15 mins because I was really upset with such nasty attitude. I debated whether i should post this review or not but its high time such hotels fix their staff training and don't tolerate rudeness especially towards foreign guests, we are paying a lot to be here and appreciate your country - showing us a little courtesy goes a long way, i wss only asking for 10-15 mins extra not 2 hours, such a petty place.

Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with this hotel. I had booked it for one night, but then had to change my travel plans very shortly afterward and notified the hotel immediately. They promised to refund my money, but as of today (about two months later), I still haven’t received it. I sent countless emails until, eventually, no one responded anymore. I find this very unprofessional and would therefore not recommend this hotel!

Located just outside the bustling city center, at the tip of the Confluence, this trendy hotel offers a stylish yet relaxed stay. The rooms are compact but cozy and well designed, with everything you need for a comfortable visit. Service is friendly and straightforward—exactly what you’d expect from a modern hotel. The location is excellent: a perfect base for exploring all corners of Lyon while also enjoying walks along the water. While there’s no official parking, plenty of options are available nearby. The in-house restaurant is a plus, and there are plenty of other dining choices in the neighborhood. Bonus: pets are welcome at no extra charge.

A charming hotel adjacent to the Theatre Célestins. Our room was beautifully appointed with some antique furniture, a desk, elegant brocade room darkening curtains but a modern comfortable bed and pillows. We stayed five days, and the room was always impeccable cleaned. Since the outside temperatures hovered at 90F, we were glad to come back to a cool room after sightseeing. The breakfast was nice with pastries and breads, cheeses, meats, eggs, fruits, yogurts and juices. To add to all these positives, we found the staff to be warm, extremely helpful and available to answer questions including suggesting neighborhood restaurants.

Very nice and cozy hotel, pleasant and full of charm. We appreciated the cleanliness and modern bathroom, breakfast buffet is a bit small but efficient. Staff very friendly and recommended nice places to visit in the city

Very friendly staff and amazing location. Exactly what you’d expect from a cozy french boutique hotel! Right in the center of the presqu’île, it’s walkable to all the best sites, monuments, restaurants, the architecture around here is amazing.

Our stay at this hotel was such a wonderful experience! They were so accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this hotel!

This was the perfect location for walking around old Lyon. Plus that allowed us to leave our luggage after we checked out some could walk the city and do a walking food tour and see the Roman Theatre ruins. The staff was absolutely great and the room was nice and comfortable.

Good location, staff is friendly, and check in was easy. The only downside is that they don’t have a mini fridge or a kettle in the room. I would suggest investing in one so that your guests can make coffee in the morning.

Clean and tidy rooms, varied breakfast and great location (pleasant neighborhood, next to Lyon Perache station).

Perfect location - right next to the metro & train station, there’re many restaurants, bars, shops and so on nearby. Actually it’s right in the heart of the city, walking distance to all sightseeings. Reception staff are very polite, friendly and welcoming, speaking good English. The room is great, comfortable bed, good shower, coffee machine provided. Great value for money!

Our room was clean, quiet, and air conditioned. Staff were very friendly and spoke English (and were kind when we attempted French). The breakfast buffet (extra cost) was delicious. The one negative was the hand-held shower (no overhead mount) which we found awkward.

Basic but clean and tidy accommodation. Comfortable bed. Cigarette smoke Smell in the corridor. Some noise from the cafe next door but not too late for it to be a problem Very easy access to the Perrache Metro and main station. Lovely helpful staff on reception. Bonus tiny lizard on my wall 🦎

Room was clean, and the hotel is located in a very convenient location. Easy to get anywhere in lyon. The bed was also the most comfortable bed we slept on during our europe trip. Most importantly, ALL of the staff were exceptionally warm and super friendly. I felt so welcomed every time I entered/exited the hotel. Highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in Lyon.

The hotel had been recommended to us. It suited our needs perfectly. The location was excellent, our room was comfortable with a charming balcony onto the square. Staff were very helpful and friendly. This is a great value hotel!

We really enjoyed this hotel! The location is perfectly central for exploring Lyon. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. We only tried the small breakfast - coffee, juice, and a pastry - and it was delicious and brought to our room promptly. We also appreciated the water fill station and the different housekeeping options.

This place really is a gem. It’s a great location, the rooms are spacious, the beds and pillows were really soft, and the price was fantastic. The biggest problem I had was that sometimes I could really hear the room next-door talking, so the walls must be thin. Another thing is that it can be a bit annoying to have to ring the doorbell to be let into the hotel every time. But these drawbacks were minor. I rarely give 5 star reviews but I was very pleased with my stay here.

Excellent location for visiting Lyon. Second visit and there has been modernisation of the rooms with a great bathroom. The aircon was efficient and kept us cool in the heatwave. Breakfast had tasty fresh food. The staff are wonderful!

Absolutely atrocious. How is a 4 starts hotel, I would never know. The bathroom of the room was covered in black mold. The maid kept leaving dirty towels around (not even ours) and the bed sheets in a ball on the floor. We had to keep asking for toilet paper because they kept leaving us none. The reception team tried to charged me twice for a deposit and called me “stupid”, ignorant that I understand french. And when the manager came in to the discussion, said that I was in the right. No apologies were given. The spa staff was incredibly malicious. They kept harassing my husband for everything, even when he wasn’t doing anything “outside the rules”, whilst lots of other guests (mostly women) did thing that were, as they said, “forbidden”, and nobody said anything. My 4 years old son was denied the bathroom at the spa, and he wasn’t threatened to be kicked out of the pool because he wasn’t wearing the wrong shorts, even though the spa manager said he could wear them. They absolutely ruined our holiday. I will never come back, I will never recommend it to anybody.
Simone Mirabella★★★★☆
The hotel has a lot of good things going for it but could use some updates. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, although it felt a bit empty and missed small amenities like a mini fridge. WiFi was inconsistent and the window insulation didn’t block street noise very well. The bathroom was functional but showed some wear. The building has character thanks to its older style, yet it’s clearly showing its age and would benefit from renovation (the incredibly slow elevator doesn’t help). On the positive side, the breakfast was excellent, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and the on-site gym was one of the best I’ve seen at any hotel. I just wish it were open earlier in the morning or 24/7 (like many other hotels). The spa is fantastic, though the strict rule requiring speedo-style swimsuits for men felt unnecessary. Parking is a major plus, with both outdoor and underground options and EV charging available. Though it’s frustrating that some non-EVs occupy those spots as normal parking, which is unacceptable. The hotel needs to take action to keep these spaces available for charging only. The location is decent, not far from the center but definitely not walking distance. Overall, a good stay with some standout features but room for improvement in comfort, maintenance, and convenience.

This place was recommended as the better hotel nearby. My review is that it was adequate. The spa is 45 Euros a day, but I am not sure you go to this hotel just for the spa rather for other reasons. So the amount is too high for hotel guests. I did use the service once, but not all areas were available. So it was an expensive swim in a outdoor pool that has seen better days! On the plus side the room was clean, very basic and staff in eating areas are very pleasant. There are electric charging points for the car on site, which was good.
Dylan Slagh★★★★☆
Rooms were nice. Front desk was helpful and spoke good english, even when they weren’t so confident. Area in general was OK, and interesting vibe for our honeymoon, Definitely authentic France. It rained quite a bit, but that’s to be expected in early May. Pretty good bus access so it’s easy to get into town. Biggest problem was the hotel Wi-Fi not working. I told the front desk and left my name but they never got back to me, it was a big inconvenience as we were international travelers with limited data. Breakfast was really good. We didn’t end up going to the spa.
Alice O'Hagan★★★★☆
Location is beautiful but not much nearby and no helpful transport links. Pillows were not the best, and for the level of hotel this is the toilet paper is very cheap! I did, however get a bath which was lovely. Bed was comfy also. Reception staff were especially helpful, and all other staff were friendly and said bonjour every time!

The hotel is in a decent location, close to the subway, and parking is available for an extra fee. We stayed here in May, and the AC wasn’t working in our room (or in most of the hotel), leaving it over 30°C throughout our entire stay. To make matters worse, the room was poorly maintained—the showerhead was broken, and the bathroom was heavily showing its age, complete with visible mold. The front desk staff were completely unhelpful and didn't even have a fan to offer us. There is also no way to contact them by phone unless you call a premium, paid number that charges an extra fee. Lyon had already been experiencing a heatwave for a couple of days before we arrived, so I don't see how this was unexpected. Has the hotel seriously not had working AC for a week?

is by far the worst hotel you could ever stay in. The room felt like hell — extremely hot, and the air conditioning didn’t work at all, even though the room description clearly said it was included. When I asked the reception, they told me they would change my room, but later they claimed there were no rooms available — which is a lie, because I checked on Booking and found rooms available for the same night. Then they contacted the manager, whose response was simply ridiculous and frustrating. He said the temperature would drop at night and that I could just open the window to cool down. This hotel doesn’t even deserve one star. Absolutely unacceptable.
Stephen Price★★★☆☆
Clean, modern, and very basic. The pros: comfortable beds, helpful staff, 1m walk to the metro. The cons: no way to keep thing cold or heat water in your room. A/C was not operating, so the room was >25C. The window opens, but it meant you could have a quiet room or a room at a comfortable temperature but not both.
YOEL TRAVEL (‫סוכן נסיעות‬‎)★★★★☆
The hotel is good and very centrally located, and the service is excellent. However, the room cleanliness needs improvement. I would have liked the room to be better equipped, for example with a small wardrobe or at least some drawers, and a small refrigerator for storing cold items. There is not even a large shared refrigerator for guests’ use, which makes it inconvenient if you want to keep food or drinks refrigerated.

Great hotel. Perfect location. Awful welcome and completely disinterested unhelpful staff, who saw no need whatsoever to smile at us, or to apologise that our Plus Room wasn’t ready at the advertised time. They could have been much kinder and offered to take our bags, given us a free coffee - given that our Plus Room advertised with coffee wasn’t ready from 2pm..so no coffee available either. I would stay here again as the location is great and the parking is secure. But I suggest customer service training for the staff as they are surly and bad for the brand.

The hotel is practical and decent for a short stay. Good location, close to transport and the city center. Rooms are clean but quite simple and on the small side. Staff is friendly, everything works smoothly, but nothing really stands out.

Good location. Public transport 2 min away. Good beds, quite neighbourhood. Price fair. Did not have breakfast - from what I saw nothing special. My third time in Lyon, my third time in this hotel. Did never disappoint. Will be back

The location is good and quiet, very near to the central station, but requires a 20 minute to the center by tram. Staff is nice and helpful, checkin and checkout times very generous, room super basic but okay and clean. The door of the toilet needs a considerable amount of strentgh to be opened every time 🙂

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the interior design is beautiful and stylish. The staff was friendly, and everything was clean and comfortable. Our only suggestion would be to add more fresh vegetables to the breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We stayed at the hotel for four days. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms were very clean. They were a bit small, but I didn’t expect them to be large anyway. The staff were very kind and friendly; Yasmine in particular was very helpful to us. I would like to thank her here.

Nice staff, good location for public transportation, quality bed, adequate breakfast. But, I have never seen a bathroom that small before (really uncomfortable), and there were bad smells accasionally. We stayed for 3 nights. Since there was no air conditioning, we had to open the window, and every morning we had to wake up around 6-7 am due to noise from outside for various reasons (garbage trucks, people fighting or having funon the streets).

What a lovely place this is, I was welcomed with the most gorgeous smile which is attached to Loris the receptionist... Nothing is to much trouble, it's very quiet and you can walk your feet off in any direction, fabulous thank you.... See you again, Nicola Kelly UK 😘

Good location (Perrache Tram & Metro), kind and friendly staff, rich breakfast. It was lovely that the hotel was in a quiet area and the beds were comfortable. Cleaning is done everyday. Since the room features are already disclosed, I won't say this exists or that does not. I can only say that the bathroom unit should have been a bit larger. I highly recommend this good p/q ratio hotel.

I must say this place and its staff made me change my oppinion about franch hospitality. I am happy I chose this place, very attentive staff in the reception the place is close from trams busses and trains, ideal if travelling. For sure I will come back, as for the breakfast for sure you can squeeze more quality and quantity out of 12 e for breakfast. You are allowed to bring your food and eat in the common space
Rusu Ioana★★★★★
I didn’t stay at the hotel, there were some circumstances that led me there, and I just want to say that I was very impressed by one of the receptionists. I was surprised by his kindness, especially considering that I wasn’t even a guest at the hotel.

Practical Tips for Choosing Your Lyon Hotel

Selecting the right hotel in Lyon requires thinking beyond star ratings and nightly rates. The city’s compact but varied geography means a property that looks perfect on a map may sit across a river from the neighborhood where you will actually spend most of your time. These practical considerations will help you match a hotel to your specific travel rhythm, budget, and expectations, ensuring your stay feels effortless rather than compromised.

1. Match the neighborhood to your primary activity

If your itinerary centers on historic sites and traditional dining, stay in Vieux Lyon or the southern Presqu’île. For shopping, theaters, and classic French elegance, choose the central Presqu’île between Bellecour and Hôtel de Ville. For a more local, residential feel with excellent bakeries and markets, look to the Croix-Rousse or the 6th arrondissement near Parc de la Tête d’Or.

2. Verify air conditioning before booking in summer

Lyon experiences hot, humid summers, and many historic buildings in Vieux Lyon and the Presqu’île lack central air conditioning. If you are traveling between June and September, confirm that your room has individually controlled climate systems, especially in renovated older properties where window units are not always sufficient.

3. Consider tram access for value without isolation

Hotels near the T1 and T2 tram lines in neighborhoods like La Confluence or the 7th arrondissement often offer lower rates than Presqu’île properties while remaining 10 to 15 minutes from the center. The tram is reliable, runs late, and connects directly to Part-Dieu station and the Musée des Confluences.

4. Book parking in advance if arriving by car

Driving in central Lyon is restricted by pedestrian zones and narrow one-way streets. If your hotel offers on-site parking, reserve a space when you book your room. Otherwise, use the Lyon Parc Auto network, which operates secure underground garages at Bellecour, Hôtel de Ville, and Part-Dieu.

5. Ask about breakfast inclusions and local alternatives

Hotel breakfasts in Lyon can range from a simple croissant and coffee to elaborate buffets with regional cheeses and charcuterie. Compare the cost against nearby boulangeries and cafés, especially in Croix-Rousse and the 6th arrondissement, where excellent local options often provide better value and atmosphere.

6. Look for hotels with river views or rooftop terraces

Lyon’s beauty is best appreciated from above or along the water. Several properties offer rooms overlooking the Saône or Rhône, and a handful feature rooftop bars or terraces with views toward Fourvière or the Part-Dieu skyline. These rooms typically cost more but add a memorable dimension to your stay.

7. Check for ongoing renovation or tramway construction nearby

Lyon is continually improving its public infrastructure, which can mean temporary noise or detours around certain hotels. Before booking, search for recent reviews mentioning construction, and contact the hotel directly if you are sensitive to early-morning noise or street-level disruption.

Lyon rewards travelers who take the time to understand its geography and rhythm. A well-chosen hotel places you in the right neighborhood for your interests, removes logistical friction, and gives you more time to linger over a café crème or explore a traboule without rushing. The properties above represent the city’s finest hospitality, each offering a distinct interpretation of Lyonnais character and comfort.

Whether you are drawn by the promise of a Michelin-starred table, the texture of Renaissance stone, or the quiet elegance of a riverside morning, Lyon delivers with a confidence that feels entirely its own. Choose a base that matches your pace, and the city will unfold around you with generosity and style.
