17 Best Restaurants in Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a city that speaks the language of wine, but its culinary dialect is just as expressive. While the surrounding vineyards often steal the spotlight, the historic port city has quietly evolved into one of France’s most dynamic dining destinations. From the cobblestone lanes of Old Town to the revitalized docks of the Bassins à Flot, the restaurant scene here balances rich Gascon tradition with a bold, contemporary edge.

For the hungry traveler, navigating this landscape can be overwhelming. You can find everything from a three-hour gastronomic marathon in a stone cellar to a quick, perfectly seared entrecôte served with crispy frites. The common thread binding these experiences is a deep respect for the Southwestern French terroir—think duck, lamb from Pauillac, oysters from Arcachon, and, of course, the famous canelé for dessert.

This guide curates the essential dining experiences in the "Port of the Moon." We have moved beyond the tourist traps to highlight the addresses where locals actually book tables, celebrating chefs who are redefining Bordeaux’s identity. Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner overlooking the Garonne or a bustling neo-bistro with natural wine, there is a seat waiting for you.

The criteria for this list are strict. We evaluate not only the quality of the plate but also the atmosphere, the sourcing of ingredients, and the consistency of the service. These are the places that define the taste of Bordeaux today, ranging from Michelin-starred institutions to beloved neighborhood hideaways.

Prepare to explore a city where the sauce is just as important as the vintage. Below, you will find a selection of the absolute best tables in Bordeaux, organized to help you find the perfect match for your palate and budget.

Wonderful and welcoming service. Exceptional explanation of the dishes. Come of the flavours were complex but overall the 6 courses balanced out. Wine was well advised too. Only niggle would be the outdoor diners smoke wafting in to the restaurant.

I went for the set lunch and I have to say that it was probably the best meal I had in Bordeaux... and I had a few very good ones. The food was so fresh, beautifully cooked and imaginatively presented. Each course was a delight. It's a lovely spot and the staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining what was what. And for just 28 euros you'll struggle to find better value anywhere in the city.
Jerry Wasinger★★★★★
My sister-in-law used to call my youngest daughter "La Bouche" because she was always hungry. So, of course, I added La Fine Bouche to my itinerary while planning my trip to Bordeaux. And I'm so glad I did! It was an exceptional meal filled with surprising flavors and wonderful wine pairings. In fact, it was the best meal I have ever had in France. Definitely get a reservation then be prepared for an expertly paced culinary experience.

Fantastic tasting menu. Great service. Each course was a work of art for all our senses. One of my friends is vegetarian, and her dishes were made with just as much care, i.e. they had interesting tastes and were presented beautifully. The extensive wine list has great options at all price ranges.
Victor Lluch★★★★★
Booked this place for my birthday dinner. I couldn't be happier. I treated myself for the long service (6 courses) and we were advancing in the evening the courses were getting better and really exciting and the bar was quite hight to start with. Everything was thought to the detail and some of the flavours really unexpected but well balanced. Highly recommended if you are looking for some high end cuisine with affordable prices.

We’ve dined in possibly 4 Michelin star restaurants over the past 6 months and Maison Nouvelle was my favourite! The food was amazing, particularly the signature dish. I recommend coming a little earlier than your reservation to experience the bar, that was a fantastic start. The staff are great, my one tiny critique would be that they’re not as engaging as other restaurants we’ve been to. I understand English isn’t their first language but we’ve had more engaging experiences abroad so we had a slightly higher expectation. This is proper French cuisine and the vibe is homely. All in all, a great experience and excellent food.
Mark Concannon★★★★★
Another example where 5 stars doesn't cut it! This Michelin star restaurant is hidden away in a plaza and you'll need to ring the doorbell. I prefer lunch to dinner, just because the meal is so much food! I don't want to eat this and then go to bed. But going for a walk and shopping is great. There was a lobster dish that was my wife's favorite. Mine was their signature mushroom dish. But everything was great! Highly recommend the experience.
Yves L.Y★★★★★
I was expecting something a bit more show off, pretentious, by a Chef doing a lot of TV… And how wrong I was… You can literally feel the consistency, and emotions, all along the experience, accompanied by a professional and friendly service, in a nice house setting in the heart of Bordeaux. The raviole, the Chef’s signature, by itself, is worth the visit and so much tasteful. But everything else was great too, and I love being so wrong about a place: the two Michelin stars are definitely deserved and Maison Nouvelle one of the best refined cuisine place in the region.
Aline Lakis★★★★★
One of the best meals I’ve ever had, likely best Michelin restaurant I’ve tried; I’ve been to quite a few including 2 others in Bordeaux. The dinner was a pleasant, refined, delicious, and luxurious experience. Big kudos to the staff who told the story of each meal so passionately and elegantly. The sommelier was super charming with the wine stories transporting us behind the thought of every wine pairing. The food was art on the plate and in the mouth. The initial drink downstairs before being seated was a nice touch that set the mode for the evening. The quick greeting with the chef at entry was very thoughtful. All in all, the restaurant invites you to take in the pleasure, slow down and enjoy. It was a memorable evening.
Tifani Blouin★★★★★
🔔 From the moment you ring the doorbell you are treated as a very special guest. The entire 3.5 hour experience is inspiring, creative and beautifully orchestrated. The whole team is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is a warm and stylish dreamscape 🪄 ✨

I had a very satisfying lunch set at French House in Bordeaux. The meal began with parmesan arancini served with a tangy cream, followed by a French-style beef tartare with fries and salad. For dessert, the speculoos crème brûlée and milk chocolate mousse were both rich and well balanced. Every course was thoughtfully prepared, and the set menu offered excellent value for the quality. A great place for a relaxed and enjoyable lunch in Bordeaux.

It was an extremely hot day, so we really appreciated being able to relax in the restaurant’s cool and comfortable atmosphere. We ordered two lunch menus, and one of them came with French fries. Unfortunately, the fries were so hard and chewy that they had the texture of chewing gum. It’s difficult to understand how they could have been served in that condition. It was quite disappointing.
Winston Khoo★★★★★
A classy and chic place for lunch with a calming and chill vibe just off the main shopping avenue. The French dishes had a nice twist and we had the artichoke, ravioli, sea beam, and burger all of which were tasty and well cooked. The 2 desserts we tried, crème brûlée and mousse, were excellent and a nice way to finish the meal. Highly recommended even if it is for a cocktail 🍹 and some wine 🍷
&★★★☆☆
I’m not sure what other people like about this resto. The food is well presented but not very flavorful. I tried the escargot, foie gras and fish en papillote. None of that was memorable, very basic in all aspects. The service and atmosphere is great though. I’d return only if my goal is to have a drink on the outdoor patio.
Christine - Foodie★★★★☆
We stopped by here on our first day in Bordeaux and it was a perfect spot for a quick bite. We had a cheeseburger (crispy and moist with just the right amount of condiments) and a soft tasty buttery croissant. We also had a glass of wine and a soda. The staff were friendly and attentive. The decor was a typical pretty french brasserie style.

Our dining experience at Le Bouchon Bordelais was exactly what we wanted for our final night in Bordeaux. We opted for the four course option along with the wine pairing. Everything was flavorful from the amuse-bouche through the dessert. And we even added a cheese course to share that was phenomenal as well. While service may have lagged at times it never felt slow and with only two staff working the front of the house on a busy Friday night, the pace was just fine. If we’re fortunate enough yo get back to Bordeaux again (hopefully during cooler weather) we will most-assuredly return.
Winston Khoo★★★★★
An amazing experience in a homely restaurant serving first class French fare done with a culinary flair. Great for wine pairings and the four-course dinner was sublime with a host of varying flavors nicely combined & great value for the price. Service was friendly and good explanations provided for the dishes we tried. Hugely enjoyable
Liam Hyland-Knight★★★★★
We had the 4-course option with the chosen wine pairing and had a fantastic experience. We also added the cheese course and some extra drinks at the start. The staff were very informative and extremely friendly. For what was a fine dining experience, it was not at all pretentious and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bordeaux.
Zac Alexander★☆☆☆☆
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Beyond the worst food experience. Where do I start? We waited between 45 minutes and an hour just to receive our drinks. The service was incredibly poor from start to finish. When we politely raised our concerns about both the food and the delays, instead of addressing them professionally, our server became confrontational and started shouting at us. It was completely unacceptable. The food portions were unbelievably small. My main course consisted of what was essentially a single small arancini ball. For the price, it was absolutely appalling. Every dish arrived cold. If this is intentional, it certainly wasn’t made clear when booking or on the menu. If the food is meant to be served cold, the restaurant should make this much more obvious, as it was not our expectation. To top it all off, the food itself was incredibly basic and lacked any real flavour. I genuinely don’t understand how this place has received such positive reviews. Sadly, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I certainly won’t be returning
Maria Vitale★★★★★
This was a wonderful dining experience. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and the service was fantastic. Every single dish was delicious and unique. The wine pairings were perfect. Both of our servers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. I wish we had gone here earlier during our trip so that we could have eaten here twice.

If I could award ten stars I would! This is a Michelin-like experience at about half-price. We really enjoyed EVERY course… and they had small surprises throughout, like eating the ‘paper’ tickets at the start, to having dessert served in a music box. (There’s another but I don’t want to ruin it!) The courses were prepared and presented with care, each one more enjoyable than the last. I highly recommend you take the time and enjoy a dinner here!
Julia K★★★★★
Dining at this restaurant in Bordeaux was a true celebration of taste, artistry, and storytelling. Every dish was not only exquisitely delicious and refined, but also presented with extraordinary creativity and elegance. Each course came with its own story, its own mystery, and its own secret, which made the entire experience feel immersive and unforgettable. The final masterpiece was a dessert inspired by Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker ballet — a magical and poetic ending to an exceptional culinary journey. The attention to detail, imagination, and passion behind every element of the menu were simply remarkable. On top of that, the service was absolutely flawless: attentive, sophisticated, and perfectly balanced throughout the evening. This was not just dinner, but a complete sensory experience that we will remember for a very long time.

We went for the six course sampling menu with wine pairings and it was a delightful and innovative curated experience, full of flavour and the occasional surprise! A brilliant way to kick off a weekend of culture in Bordeaux
Jennifer A★★★★★
We had a wonderful evening enjoying incredibly creative cuisine. It felt almost like being at the theater—the food was so beautiful, thoughtfully orchestrated, and exquisitely presented. Regards to the chef and the team. Highly recommend.
Thomas Hulshof★★★★★
When entering the street, I thought I took a wrong turn, but when seeing the restaurant through the window it wa clear I was in the right spot. Beautiful small, classic and bright restaurant with a simple looking open kitchen and beautiful tree-wood tables. The choices: 5 or 6 courses and with or without wine pairing, that's it. The food is absolutely beautiful, both in looks and taste. With a very surprising twist (I won't spoil it), good wines and very good staff. If you want a great gastronomic (Micheline star level) experience for a very good price, then restaurant Son should be on your list.

We would have given 6+ stars for the atmosphere! It was a great experience. The food was amazing. We can recommend all the plates with „Château d‘Eck“. Thanks to Matthieu.

The cheese board and canele ice-cream dessert was nice! It's a very small place but there was room late around 9/10pm on a weekday. Service was friendly too.

We had lunch there today. Food was fantastic and the service was superb. Great welcome, explained the menu to us and gave recommendations to suit all 3 diners. Would fully recommended to anyone visiting Bordeaux. Only regret was we got photos of the food but was so happy with the full experience, we forgot to take photos of the outside of the restaurant for our usual photo book we create for every family trip.

What a fantastic experience! The owner was personable, took the time to explain the menu in good detail and made us feel very comfortable im his charming restaurant. It’s probably the best charcuterie we have ever had, just note there are not gluten free alternatives for the bread offered (but the owner encouraged bringing in our own gf bread which we did do). Excellent wine pairings, a great playlist and overall excellent vibes made this a special night. Thanks to all involved!

I had a wonderful experience at Palatino in Bordeaux. The restaurant itself is very spacious, beautifully decorated, and offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. There are plenty of tables where you can comfortably enjoy a meal with your partner or friends, but I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance, as there is usually a line at the entrance. As soon as you step inside, you are welcomed by a charming interior that gives off a stylish 50s-60s vibe. The ambiance is truly unique and adds a special touch to the whole dining experience. The service is impressively fast, and the staff are incredibly friendly, polite, and attentive. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. I visited with an Italian friend, and even he confidently approved the authenticity and quality of the dishes. One of the things that stood out to me the most was the open kitchen located right in the center of the restaurant. Being able to see the food being prepared in front of you creates a strong sense of trust and highlights the cleanliness and transparency of the place. At the end of your meal, you can conveniently pay through a QR code system provided on the menu. This makes it very easy to split the bill or pay individually without needing to call the staff. Overall, I truly enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bordeaux. Thank you for the great ambiance, delicious food, and fast, clean, and excellent service!

Beautiful restaurant. Pizza was great. The rest of the menu did not live up to the 4.9 star review. Salad was under seasoned. Pesto sauce didn't have enough nuts to balance the strong basil.
Mick Price★★★★★
We had excellent pizzas the other night at this really cool place. From the outside it looks tiny. But when you step inside, it was absolutely huge and jam-packed with noisy diners! It was fully booked but we got counter seats upstairs at the amazing cocktail bar. The all-Italian crew behind the bar never stopped for even a minute the whole time we were there. Great fun, good vibes, thanks to all the friendly, hard-working staff who create great energy!
Jeff Spencer★★★★☆
Classic choice of Italian intetnational cuisine alongside basics like pizza. Impudent enough to offer a range of good italian/sicilian wines in this delightful roman square in Bordeaux. Friendly if slow service, but a great place to watch the world go round.
María V★★★☆☆
Service was very kind, although a bit slow. And unfortunately we were incredibly disappointed with the consistency and flavour of our pizza. both the tomato sauce and the cheese, aka the essentials, tasted plain and a bit acidic to us. Cannot recommend. The burrata dish on the other hand was so amazing I would consider going back just to have it again and also give the pasta dishes a try.

We have been twice now, about 3 weeks ago for dinner which was sublime and then yesterday for lunch. The TdF was in town and the restaurant was busy but the food was excellent again. The chefs food is prepared with love, each mouthful a mixture of perfect flavours and textures. Both dinners and lunches represent excellent value for money. Lunch at 28€ for three courses for such good food is literally amazing. The front of house is looked after by Maxime and Gurvan who are both affable and efficient, with great knowledge of the food & flavours they present for the chef. We could not recommend it more and will certainly return again. Thanks to all of you.

Great food and wine in a super pleasant atmosphere and with very friendly service. The food had an incredible taste and freshness, offered may taste sensations with each dish, and was served with “the most important of all”… a special sauce. Simply wonderful.

Highlight of our trip. We had such an incredible dinner here we came back the next day for lunch too. Do not miss if you like fresh seasonal creative fusions. The staff were so lovely and friendly too. It was the best value dinner and lunch we couldn't believe how reasonable it was for what you get. Do not miss if you visit Bordeaux.
Patrick Moore★★★★★
THE CHEF HERE IS AN ABSOLUTE WIZARD. There's no other way to describe the meal we just had. I don't know what magic he does to make the food the way it is but it is amazing. The beef chuck simply melts and the duck is paired perfectly with all other elements on the dish. Thank you again for an amazing time. Special highlight was seeing the wine collection too!
Em★★★★★
Every time I return to Arcada, I’m even more impressed. Friendly positive servers make sure you’re happy. They extend their trust by allowing you to go into their wine cellar to select your bottle of wine! Yes, all the wine is on the wine list, but it really brings it to life when you descend down a narrow winding stone staircase to a wine cave and select the bottle you want. The food and atmosphere is great. Each dish is unique and like a work of art. Highly recommend!

A great evening meal at Les Droles restaurant. They have 2 servings, 7.15pm and 9.15pm and you MUST book to guarantee a table. Very small menu but delicious. We started off with fois gras and egg mayonnaise, followed by by swordfish and beef parmentier, creme brulee and creme citron. Set price E25. Excellent!

My friends and I stumbled upon this restaurant and we had the best dinner experience in Bordeaux. You get an appetizer, entree and dessert for €25. The drinks were affordable too. The two guys working there were so nice and welcoming to us (Americans), and we really appreciated our server’s kindness. The shepard’s pie and duck entrees were absolutely incredible, the soup appetizer was so fresh and flavorful, and the creme brûlée was phenomenal. We highly recommend this place!!

We had a fantastic meal here. The set dinner is great value for money and the dishes are well-executed with good portion sizes. Loved the soup, and the veal and rice was excellent. The duck breast was a little tough though.
Sofia Zaitceva★★★★★
Great place with a small set menu and cozy atmosphere. Delicious food, extremely nice and friendly staff; it’s a perfect place for a relaxed dinner.
Neda Bt★★★★☆
We had the duck foie gras as a starter, very delicious and perfectly seasoned. The bread crust is quite hard though, so be careful not to break your teeth. For the mains, we ordered the shepherd’s pie and the duck breast. Both were excellent. For the duck breast, if you’re not French or you don’t like seeing traces of blood, make sure to mention it in advance. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée, which was superb. The staff are nice and friendly, and the vibe is very cozy, especially in autumn and winter, as the main dining area is underground.

This restaurant is a knockout! My wife and I had the surprise menu and a wine pairing, and every course was inventive, beautiful and — most importantly — delicious. The photos really don’t do the food justice. It’s a great value for the money. Above all, the service was outstanding. All of the servers were efficient and professional, while at the same time super friendly. We felt very welcome and well taken-care-of. This was a special meal that will not be quickly forgotten.

Such good surprise menu food! Wonderful artichoke, pork, trout and lamb! Cheese cart also looked amazing but we did not get to try. Service was also excellent. We had 1 member of our party who was not feeling well and they offered ice cubes and a trash bag for us on our way out and expedited the meal. The restaurant also has AC which was great during the heatwave
Gavin McKean★★★★★
I honestly wish I had more of a platform to rave about this place. It's a young chef (27) and a young team bringing passion and enthusiasm with a touch of flair to Bordeaux's food scene. They have a 5 course suprise menu that changes every two months plus cheese for those brave enough. We chose the wine pairing to go with our dinner and this also was an interesting journey of French wines. The food was wow, from stuffed artichokes, a pork Asian dish which was fantastics, beef with various carrot incarnations, and a strawberry and tomatoe inspired desert that was so perfectly balanced. And yes we went with the cheese, the waiter or should I say cheese somelier guided as with real enthusisam through their offering and made some excellent suggestions. The staff were all delightful, the restaraunt itself is also beatifully fitted out with some fun Matisse style paintings done by a friend or relation of the chef. The tea cups at the end also created by another relation/ friend were also a delight. This family affair are really doing great things. I'm half tempted to move from the other side of the world to Bordeaux so I can visit this restaurant more often.
Nizar Mahfouz★★★★★
I’ve had so many fancy dinners around the world, and Michelin star restaurants that were good but didn’t entice me to leave a review. This place however, mind blown. Our first night in Bordeaux and we chose this place for dinner and it did not disappoint. It actually exceeded all expectations I’ve had. The ambiance was great, the vibe is super chill and not pretentious, the service was top notch. And the food is out of this world. Every single dish that came out was delicious, and usually when I’m dining at a tasting menu, the food gets mediocre as the menu goes on, however here the dishes kept getting better and better. And the dessert was, i can’t even come up with a description for how good it was. Definitely one of my favorite places ever. Thank you Ismael, Kevina and Mael for giving us the best first night in Bordeaux. Do yourself a favor and try this place 🙌🏽🙏🏽
Alfie Mitchell★★★★★
The tasting menu and overall experience was everything we could have wanted and more! Incredible service, great atmosphere and impeccable attention-to-detail on each and every plate. Truly an exquisite experience and I can’t recommend it more! Highly recommend the wine pairing and cheese board additionally to the menu, it was perfect.

Got it—here’s a more casual, guest-style version: --- **Restaurant Review** This spot takes French cooking in an exciting direction. The chefs use classic French techniques but add spices from Mexico to Asia, giving every dish a surprising twist without ever feeling heavy-handed. The flavors are bright, layered, and memorable. The ingredients—whether it’s fish, poultry, or produce—are all sourced locally, and you can really taste the freshness. The menu feels adventurous while still being comforting and balanced. Their wine list is fantastic, with bottles from all over France. It’s broad enough for any mood, whether you want a crisp white from Alsace or a deep red from Bordeaux. The staff are also great at suggesting pairings. Service is spot-on: welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable without being stuffy. It all adds up to a dining experience that’s both relaxed and special—a place that makes you want to return

A bar with a connoisseur's wine list and a creative aproach to cuisine. The menu is super tiny, we literally tried 90 per cent in one sitting, but there wasn't a single miss. Interesting flavor combinations, including watermelon and tuna sashimi with local spices, presented in the most artistic fashion. Very kindly priced, too.

A friend of mine said if I could get a reservation here while in bordeaux, I should, because it's sublime. He wasn't wrong. From start to finish, we thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Each dish's ingredients were explained to us, where they came from, why they were in the dish, and how it was prepared. Every dish was a star. The wine pairings were perfect. So now I'm passing it along. If you get the chance to go, you should. It's sublime.

Lovely family-run restaurant. Only 12 covers a night and all the food is specially sourced from speciality suppliers in France and Italy. Even the tables and crockery are unique!

You walk into an oasis of calm. The wife-chef pair run a nice restaurant. The menu is “omakase”. The sole server gave us a wonderful wine recommendation and presented each dish with a thorough and careful explanation. She also graciously accepted an unusual request from our party to have a smaller wine glass. The plates/dish/cup/water pitcher/bowls are all themed ceramic pieces with the natural and white enamel glaze. They tie in seamlessly with the decor and walls of the restaurant. The lighting in the restaurant is thoughtful and contributes to a romantic mood. All tables except ours were for couples. We were told the menu is largely fish and appointed/accompanied by spring produce. We liked all the offerings but could forego the carbonara pasta dish. Each dish is beautifully designed and presented. Portion sizes could have been smaller given the many savory dishes provided.

Lume was an incredible dining experience. One of the best meals we had during a week in Bordeaux. Service and atmosphere are elegant yet simple, comfortable, present, and unobtrusive. The chef blends flavors which are bold yet perfectly executed. Presentation of dishes is fantastic. I assume this restaurant will have a star very soon and it absolutely deserves it. We will definitely return on our next trip to Bordeaux.

A very old French restaurant located right best the Opera is believed to have started in 1850. The structure is still the old one with no major modifications whatsoever. Since this is a heritage property, renovation is not permitted. Unfortunately, due to this, there is no AC which makes the place where hot during summers. Apart from that the food was too notch, tastes exceptionally well. Exceeded my expectations. The service was very delayed due to some reason. The experience is completely worth the money. A must visit restaurant.

As two vegetarians, and despite the menu being without a specific vegetarian option, our great waitress - Toscane - was really quick to help us take advantage of the lunchtime menu, offering perfect alternatives that could be accommodated. Starting with a glass of Lillet - the local aperitif wine - and with a very pleasant view looking out over Place de la Comédie - we felt very relaxed and welcome in the lustrous surroundings. The food was, as can be expected, simply delicious, and the portions just right for us. For dessert, we opted for the blueberry chocolate ganache and raspberry vanilla compote - both of which offered a light touch of freshness to conclude our meal. Overall, a very enjoyable afternoon, and thanks again to Toscane for her presence, guidance and consideration.

I went there for lunch with my girlfriend, and we had a wonderful time. The staff were fantastic, and the setting was charming and welcoming. We chose the starter and main course set menu, pairing each dish with thoughtfully selected wines. The food was very good, and everything was well executed. However, none of the dishes really surprised us or introduced any new flavours. The experience was exactly what we expected: high-quality, classic cooking done well, rather than something particularly innovative or memorable.

I’ve been meaning to go here ever since moving to Bordeaux and it did not disappoint. I love how frequently the menu changes here with fresh produce an incredible flavour combinations. We all tried different things from the evening menu and everything was beautifully seasoned well presented. Why do four stars? Despite the staff being incredibly friendly, the service on our table was slightly messy. Every round we had a new face and had to repeat or double check orders. The service took really long - especially considering being told that we have a table for two hours, but then waiting 20 minutes for only half of our drinks to arrive and 45min for our first course. It didn’t impact our experience. We had a fantastic night and we will definitely be back to try the next menu.

The restaurant has such a lovely ambiance—airy, cozy, and welcoming. The food was generally good, although the regular salad was a bit tasteless. Overall, we enjoyed everything else we ordered, especially the kids’ meals. The service was also great, and the staff were very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience and would be happy to come back.

When we arrived they took forever to seat us, same during serving and took them slightly over half an hour to provide us with a bill and be able to pay for the food The food was great but not worth all the waiting around. Completely different treatment for non french speakers.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate my sister’s birthday while staying in Bordeaux. Terrible decision. I informed them in advance that it was her birthday, and yet they still gave us a table at the back of the rooftop. The variety on the menu was very limited and the quality… it’s just not what you expect for the price you are paying. But the worst part was that I had ordered a surprise birthday cake in advance, which I paid €32 for, and they didn’t even remember. Once our table was cleared and 20 minutes had passed with no cake arriving, I had to go and ask for it twice. They told us it was ready but that they didn’t know which table it was for. That was a lie — it wasn’t ready at all. The had to improvise a cake last minute. Once the cake was ready they still couldn’t find the table (even though we had reminded them 3 times). The result: the cake finally arrived at 11.30 (we finished dinner at 10.30), served in a pot, raw and melted. It couldn’t even be cut into pieces, so we had to eat it straight from the pot. And obviously, it was no longer a surprise for my sister. With all this chaos going on, she obviously realised what was happening. Absolutely disappointing service from the restaurant. We didn’t receive a single apology. The best thing about this place: the views.
Ning Leow★★★★☆
It was the rare restaurant that could accommodate a massive group of 20 without a reservation. Service was friendly but it was challenging to get the servers’ attention, and our food did take an hour after putting in our orders before they started to arrive, so we were left ravenous for a while. My steak was so-so with a rarely dry under seasoned cous cous, but their deviled eggs appetiser and pizzas were great!

Booked a table for 7.30 and we were the first to arrive however the restaurant filled up very quickly. Choice of 4 starters 5 mains, cheese as an option and 2 deserts. All for a set price. Good advice offered on both the food and wine. Great atmosphere, lovely meal.

We came here two nights in a row it was just that good. The first night was a food and wine pairing and tasting menu all of which was fabulous. The second night we were guided by the chef from the a la carte which was just as good. The food and service are just amazing. This place is small but boy does it deliver great food at reasonable prices.

They have 4 or so cute outdoor tables and many tables inside. After reading Google reviews I made a reservation after we finished our tour of Musée des Beaux-Arts although it was a short walk there since I saw that it is very popular for lunch. It was a good move as this place packed up very quickly from 12:30-13:00 with locals (girlfriends, work friends, friends of restaurant chef and staff). The combo entree-plat-dessert was very reasonable and the choices were interesting. In the end one of us felt their dish was not well-prepared and shared this with the staff and they kindly took it off our tab. I loved the portion size and innovative preparation of my artichokes and the tartare. Not all dishes were of the same caliber. The staff are friendly AND very busy. (Stretched to answer to queries/requests from all tables) If you are sensitive to smoke beware that you will potentially feel like you are in a smoking section if there are smokers seated outdoors as it blows into the restaurant. Also if you are sensitive to loud noise (or use a hearing aid) this might not be the place for you as it can be difficult to carry on a conversation with the ambient noise around you.

During our third visit to Bordeaux, and after walking past Atelier des Faures countless times, we heard some great things about the restaurant from "Lost in Bordeaux," and decided to give it a try. We selected the Prix Menu and a local "blouge" wine produced by a friend of the restaurant. The end result? The best meal - start to finish - we have had in Bordeaux. We look forward to coming back during our next visit to our favorite French city. Bon appétit !

This is a really great restaurant - definitely on the higher-end side and it feels like a special place to eat. We booked last minute, and I didn’t have time to go home and change into a shirt, but I slightly wished I had! The food was excellent. The octopus in particular was insanely good, and we really enjoyed the other dishes too. You can tell there is real skill and care in the kitchen. It’s an expensive restaurant but worth it I think. My only small criticism was around the seating. When we arrived, we noticed that the table close to the kitchen was free. We’re big foodies and would have loved to sit there and watch the meal preparation. When I asked, I was told it was only for special occasions and that it was booked. However, no one arrived for that table all night, which was a little disappointing. For many people, going to a restaurant like this in Bordeaux is a special occasion in itself. Given the table didn’t appear to be booked, it would have been a lovely gesture to accommodate us. I also think the chefs would probably enjoy having enthusiastic diners watching them create something special. That said, this was only a small point in an otherwise excellent evening. I’ll put it down to me not wearing a shirt! 😂

Beautifully presented food, that from a taste perspective was to die for, served by a fantastic team. Not the cheapest gig in town, but priced appropriately for the quality. Would definitely recommend to the foodies or those looking for a special meal! Well done Le Cent 33 you nailed it!

Wow—this was my favorite restaurant in Bordeaux! For a Michelin-star spot, it’s surprisingly affordable. The food was absolutely amazing, from the presentation to the flavors—everything was spot on. Nice location at thevside of the church. Houmous starter v good. I enjoyed my pork. My daugher enjoyed her duck, note it was presented rare. My wife was not impressed with the turbot fish. We had tap water, and a glass of beer. Service was good albeit erratic at times.

Trendy bistro in old town. Very good food choice in a modern brasserie style. Good wine selection. Outdoor seating in an outside nook of the church across the road is a bit rustic but works well. Attentive service. Thoroughly recommend.

Now this place really surprised me. It was in the medium priced categories, but the food blew me away. I was not expecting that. The main courses were absolutely delicious ! If Michel could give a 1/2 star (i think they do have 'honourable mentions'), it would deserve it. .Presentations were wonderful, showing the passion the chef must have for this gastronomical establishment. Sauces were complex which always signals a master in the craft. sides were fresh and tasty. Portions were nicely sized. The staff were first class, always eager to please and were happy that we went twice during our week stay. I heard business was a bit slow, but its not for the quality.. It is a bit tucked away on a side street so it doesn't get the big crowds.

OK flavor with high price and small amount, and no proper glass for wines. Actually speaking the dishes itself is nice designed, which I think it worth a 4.5 as average. But the amount is too small, which counts very important in my point of view.

Tips for Dining Out in Bordeaux

To make the most of your culinary journey, it helps to understand the local dining culture. Bordeaux operates on a rhythm that differs slightly from Paris or other major European capitals, and a little preparation will ensure you get the table you want and the experience you crave.

Book Ahead, Especially on Weekends
Bordeaux is a bustling business and tourism hub, and the best restaurants fill up quickly. For dinner from Thursday through Saturday, you should book at least a week in advance for popular spots. If you are traveling during the wine harvest season or the Bordeaux Fête le Vin festival, extend that lead time to two or three weeks.

Embrace the Late Seating
While some restaurants open for service at 7:00 PM, the prime dining time in Bordeaux is closer to 8:30 PM or 9:00 PM. If you want a lively atmosphere, book the later slot. If you prefer a quieter meal or are dining with children, ask for the first seating of the evening.

Understand the Menu du Marché
Many of the best bistros offer a fixed-price lunch menu (Menu du Midi) that represents incredible value. You can often sample the chef’s signature style for a fraction of the dinner price. If you are on a budget but still want a high-end experience, make lunch your main meal of the day.

Look Beyond the Bordeaux Blend
While ordering a local red is tempting, don’t be afraid to ask the sommelier for a white or a sparkling Crémant de Bordeaux. The region produces stunning dry whites that pair beautifully with seafood and duck. Trust the house pairings; these restaurants know their local cellars better than anyone.

Mind the Service Hours
Unlike some capital cities where you can eat all afternoon, many Bordeaux kitchens close between lunch and dinner service (roughly 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM). Plan your day around these hours, and if you find yourself hungry in the mid-afternoon, head to a bakery for a canelé or a jambon-beurre to tide you over.

The beauty of dining in Bordeaux lies in its variety. One night you might be seated in a 17th-century limestone cellar eating a modern deconstruction of a classic dish, and the next you could be on a sunny terrace eating simple grilled fish with a glass of crisp white wine. The city rewards the curious eater.

As you wander through the Saint-Pierre district or along the Quai de Paludate, let your nose guide you as much as this list. Bordeaux is a city meant to be tasted slowly, one course and one glass at a time. Bon appétit.
