15 Best Steakhouses in Lille

Finding a truly memorable steak in Lille is about more than just ordering a piece of beef; it is about the sourcing of the meat, the skill of the grill, and the atmosphere of the room. While the capital of French Flanders is famous for its carbonnade and moules-frites, the city has developed a serious reputation for exceptional red meat.

The modern Lille steakhouse scene ranges from traditional French brasseries serving classic entrecôte with béarnaise to contemporary spots focusing on dry-aged, grass-fed cuts from Normandy or further afield. Whether you are closing a business deal or celebrating a special occasion, the city offers a diverse range of venues to satisfy your carnivorous cravings.

However, the quality can vary significantly from the tourist-heavy squares of Vieux-Lille to the quieter, residential streets. To ensure you get the perfect sear, the right marbling, and a sauce that complements rather than masks the beef, you need to know where the locals go.

In this guide, we have curated a selection of the best destinations for meat lovers. From high-end Argentinian grills to cozy French caves serving up massive Côte de Boeuf, we have analyzed the cuts, the cooking methods, and the wine lists to bring you the definitive list.

Here is our selection of the top steak experiences the city has to offer.

The menu was explained, food was was delicious, not for vegetarians or vegans. The servers were excellent and chef, although extremely busy served outstanding food. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.
Diana Flynn★★★★★
Fabulous food and wine on a cute street. I had a gorgeous steak with blue cheese sauce and the wine by the glass was extraordinary. I probably didn’t need the dessert but enjoyed a buffet portion of chocolate mousse. Staff were lovely
Mark Barczak★★★★★
Had a fantastic meal. Meat was excellent and we were well looked after by our waiter who recommended a very good bottle of red wine to accompany our food. Would definitely return.
Naomi La Croix★★★★★
I love a good steak and this restaurant didn't disappoint. The best steak I've had in years. We had the Normandy beef and it was so tender and tasty and perfectly rare. The wine recommend by our hostess was perfect and the service was excellent. Loved the entire experience of eating here. Update : Revisited two nights ago and service was wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here again and highly recommend.
Stephen Auberval-Stokes★★★★★
What a wonderful and unplanned evening. We were aiming for another restaurant but as this was full we looked for an alternative and what a find. The service was fantastic, the assistance with the wine choice was even better and this does not even go on to the food. I was bowled over by the food. The food was exquisite on a wonderful evening celebrating our second anniversary with my man. The sharing platter was tasty and well pre portioned. With the marrow on the bone just mmmmmmmmmmm The fillet was perfectly cooked and so tasty. My fiancé’s steak tartare was equally perfect with fries on the side and a perfect mayonnaise. Have no doubt you will be well looked after and happily feed

It was an amazing experience. I loved the concept of the menu and the staff is so attentive and organized. The food is chef’s kiss. Highly recommend. One of the best restaurant experiences!👏🏼👏🏼

Amazing experience. Delicious food, the menu is sharing concept and we were happy with every dish we chose, even the side dishes were top notch flavor. The people who work there are super friendly and knowledgeable, they’ve come up with the concept of the restaurant with proper care, every dish and drink is well thought out. I would recommend the bone marrow share dish it is chef’s kiss. Would definitely recommend any to visit again.

The food was amazing. The steak very tasty and mouth melting. If you go there, it is a must to have the mousse au chocolat, I never had one so good before.
Declan Murphy★★★★★
Excellent quality meats. The service was competent and discreet. A very warm welcome from the charming Juliette upon reception. She also provided an excellent wine recommendation. Give that lady a raise! I'll return. Highly recommended overall.

THE BEST HALAL RIBS IN TOWN! i love love love the restaurant so much
Shireen★★★☆☆
Not my first time here but i could say that i had better experience before. We ordered the shawarm’art (not my first time) but it came cold, we asked about it and they told us that as an appetizer it comes cold (when i came before it was served hot as an appetizer, and we asked the waiter this time what is the difference between the appetizer and plate and he said nothing). The good part is that they heated it for us so the flavor was better. The burgers we ordered were better, the deep burger was slightly fatty and the sauce wasn’t that good. The other burger had steak inside, this one was better but the bread was not fresh (it was breaking). The fries were also not well done. The staff was nice overall.
Rayhan K★★★★★
Friendly staff, great service and some of the best halal food in France, especially the Veal ribs which are a must-try. I will definitely visit again next time I am in the area.
Martijn Review★★★★★
Fantastic restaurant. Great entourage, good food, nice staff. Beautiful wall paper with the restaurant logo, also in another style in the toilet. Lovely food and everything was homemade.

We were driving from UK and craved for meat & found this place. Absolutely delicious I had the ribs with honey as recommended. Unreal. Got to say that was the best ribs I ever had, no joke. Staff were friendly and great.

Grilled Lamp Chop, Spicy Octopus are really good! The pasta was too cheesy for our taste. Friendly staff and 5 mins walk from Residence Inn.
Arevik Hakobyan★★★★☆
The food was generally delicious, and the service was friendly. We also appreciated that when our order was mixed up, the staff corrected the mistake quickly and brought the right dish within about 5 minutes. The only disappointments were the Mechouia (Tunisian) salad, which was extremely salty, and the mashed potatoes, which were cold when served and had already developed a dry layer on top, making them unpleasant to eat. Aside from those two issues, the meat and the rest of the meal were very tasty. We’d be happy to come back.
Eoin Sherwin★☆☆☆☆
Very poor service. Waited ages for starters and then even longer for mains and ultimately had to leave before mains. the waiter kept telling us food was coming but never arrived. Starters was lovely but service was very poor
oscars global★☆☆☆☆
The experience was terrible, food is below average and there was a piece of glass in my drink. This could have been a disaster. I would never go back extremely disappointing.
M★☆☆☆☆
Bad experience. Ruined our Valentine as our food never came. Waited for over 1.5hrs. Also the restaurant is extremely cold. Not nice to sit there as we were shivering for more than an hour waiting for our food

Food was excellent even if the steaks were on the smaller side, the butter sauce is so delicious. I found the service to be poor and slow, we were not offered our chips refills untill we had long finished our steak. Deserts and cocktail also fantastic
Ines Haddouch (Inès Haddouch)★★☆☆☆
Very disappointing experience. The price is far too high for what you get. The fries were extremely thin and greasy, the salad was nothing more than a few leaves with vinaigrette, and the meat was very dry. Everything felt like it had been prepared in advance and served assembly-line style. We were told we could only stay for one hour, yet our food didn't arrive until about 20 minutes after we sat down. The welcome also wasn't very friendly, as the first thing we were told was that we didn't have a reservation, even though many customers seem to walk in spontaneously. The only positive point was that the staff serving us were friendly and de inside is beautiful.
Tahoma Lewis★★★☆☆
Please note that they only serve one mean dish. So when that is your main staple, you must get it right. My steak was slightly tough and overcooked, and the salad had too much vinaigrette. They did provide ample fries, and have a great drink list. The servers were attentive. I definitely overpaid for what I received in terms of the quality of the food.
Angie Gutierrez★★★★★
The food was absolutely delicious, exactly as I expected! The staff were very attentive, friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely recommend this place. We loved it! ✨
Rita Pereira★★★★★
They only serve one dish, and it was absolutely delicious! The steak was perfectly cooked - tender, flavourful, and amazing with the butter sauce. It comes with a green salad and fries - and you can get extra fries at no additional cost. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and everyone spoke good English. I strongly recommend booking in advance if you’d like to go for dinner. We tried to walk in and they were completely full. We went back for Sunday lunch instead, and it was much easier to get a reservation.

Wonderful little cosy restaurant in Lille, the service is good and friendly. Good selection of wine. The food is good and their French fries is top notch.
Fran Cormack★★★★★
If you are looking for the best steak frites in Lille, look no further. We had dinner and loved it. The l'onglet (steaks) were absolutely delicious. Oh, and the choux dessert wasn't too bad either. Highly recommended.
Gerry Naughton★★★★★
What a find! We really enjoyed our evening meal here - great service and an abundance of meat. Not in any way pretentious and served the best chips in Lille! Please go!
Timothy Devrieze★★★★★
Amazing meat restaurant in the center of Vieux Lille. My wife and I had the shallot onglet and the mushroom onglet. Each of those were outsandingly delicious and the servings were generous (250g each). The meat was cut right in front of us by a trained professional and served with a salad, a delicious ratatouille and some of the best fries we had in France yet. We also shared a fondant au chocolat that was good, but not great. If you are looking for a delicious meat feast in the heart of Lille, you should definitely try Le Fossile.
Chao Tang★★★★☆
Great place to eat, only complaint is that the steak is ordered is medium but it's quite rare rather than medium.

One of my best meal in entire France! The food has a great presentation and portion. Great value for the price we pay. Usually I only eat steak in a restaurant and here the taste and quality is beyond expectation. The service is a bit slow because of the large number of guests but the waiters are the cutest. They are polite, kind and full of humor. I enjoyed my time here and will definitely come back 🙂
Tommie★★★★★
This was an absolute standout. The ingredients are exceptional—locally sourced and artisanal, so it's definitely a place for those who appreciate high-quality produce. The service was incredibly friendly, and the value for money is unbeatable in Lille. Highly recommended.
Marius CHIRITA★★★★☆
Very friendly staff. The interior setup, although the building itself is old, is very functional and gets probably the maximum from combining the old and new. I had the spare ribs, but the meat was too dry for me. The taste was very good, but really dry.
Cookie Sol★★★★★
The best meal we had in Lille. Great atmosphere. Great service. The waiters were so kind and nice and when we’re joking around with us. The outside seating is very nice.
Suzie Lee★★★★★
Slow food!! We had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant - onglet de boeuf (hanger/skirt steak) with tatin of endives, and choucroute garnie (sauerkraut with smoked meats and sausages). This restaurant specialises in beech wood smoked meat - and the results are terrific!! The service was attentive and the prices are reasonable! This is highly recommended!!

Perfect meat, tasty beer, and friendly service with right recommendations. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. A very satisfying experience - definitely recommended.

BABE offers not only 20 on tap local/micro brews, but also an impressive menu. The staff and service were amazing and made great beer recommendations. I ordered crispy pork belly for my main, which was phenomenal. The dessert was shockingly good. I would go back if I had more time here for the beer alone!
Emel★★★★☆
The portion sizes were a bit too small to feel fully satisfying. However, I really enjoyed the pak choi and the meat, the sauces were especially delicious. And the tiramisu was absolutely amazing!
Rich Harrison★★★★★
Pre-booked our table as it's a popular place; seated straight away with a warm welcome, and served our drinks only a few minutes after ordering - both delicious, including a decent IPA. Steak and frites for us both and they were really good; steak to perfection, best skin on freis I've had for some time and a nice side salad thrown in, with a decent sauce. Good level of attentive service too. Good work, really enjoyed our visit
Lebriz Erdemir★★★★★
Excellent service, delicious food and great atmosphere. We liked this place a lot. Steaks were delicious and cheeseburger was also tasty. Recommended dessert is the one with limoncello.

Good place to eat Halal food, they have a full menu that you can choose i want to take away home so guys helped me packed the takeaway stuff i will recommend Rodizio
Duha Abdulmajid★★★★★
Absolutely loved this Brazilian-style barbecue spot! All the meat cuts were juicy, tender, and full of flavor—honestly, everything that was brought to the table was really good. Maybe just a little extra seasoning here and there would’ve been the cherry on top, but overall, no complaints at all. The drinks were amazing, the vibes were on point, and best of all—everything is halal! You eat until you’re full, and they make sure you’re well taken care of the whole time. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend!
Belal Ali★★★★★
The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. Staff working here were friendly and provided a great service. Zainab was very pleasant and explained the menu and options to us. The food was very tasty and the buffet had a good selection of dishes. The drinks were also very good. This is a place I would visit again.
Abidin Eroldan★☆☆☆☆
The restaurant advertises unlimited meat, but the service is extremely slow. We chose the menu with 10 types of skewers, but getting meat felt like begging. The staff constantly ignored us, making it nearly impossible to get a second serving. They take your money and simply waste your time. Don’t be fooled by the “unlimited” claim—you’ll only get to try everything once, in small portions, and even that with great difficulty. And this happened even when the restaurant was not busy. In the end, we had to fill ourselves up with salad. A complete disappointment.
Lohaine Oliveira★☆☆☆☆
Very bad experience. The food is very low quality, meat is not tasty at all, they sell no alcohol (the caipirinha is a mocktail there, just limonede honestly) and there is not a single Brazilian person working that. Honestly they should take the “Brazil” out of their name, as a Brazilian person, I felt insulted. What a waste of money and time. The worse experience I had in a restaurant so far. Absolutely do not recommend.

This is a lovely place for lunch or dinner in Lille - but do book as it got very busy very quickly. The food was good and I loved the quirky water jugs. It's not cheap, but it is good value. I was a solo diner and felt very comfortable. A good way to spend my birthday.
J Reader★★★★★
Wonderful restaurant. The dining room was lively and well lit. The waiters were attentive and charismatic. The food was comforting, well presented and well proportioned. We did not go hungry.
Klynn Tan★★★★★
The food here was exceptionally great! Service was even better:) Shout out to our lovely server Yanis for the best recommendations and awesome service. He is extremely proficient in English and never failed to make us feel comfortable throughout the service. Highly recommend the Duck Breast, Beef Tartare and Leeks with Vinaigrette. As for dessert, the Strawberry cheesecake and Ice Cream with a topping of salted caramel was to die for!! Really enjoyed their selection of cocktails–try the Martin, Campion and Vinatier! Loved the warm ambience of the restaurant. Would definitely be back!
Matt Nobelen★★★★★
Great dinner, straight to the point with food classics. Nice waiters, quick service, quite noisy and cramped up with the tables very close to each other. Just for my fries, it felt like I had the very end of the batch with all the small crumbs instead of nice long fries... I would still recommend for the setting and quality of service!
John Porter★★★★★
Extremely accomodating for a large group booking. The service was excellent, atmosphere buzzing, and, most importantly, the food was exquisite. The carbonnade was delicious. The meat so soft and tasty. I just would've liked a touch more sauce. The Îles flottante was utter perfection. One of my favourites anyway, it was the ideal ending to a wonderful evening.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. Although they were super busy they found us a lovely outdoor table. The food was fantastic and the bottomless chips are a dangerous addition! Our waiter Marc was superb

Awesome decor, great atmosphere, and very nice staff! Everything we ate was solid and enjoyable, but the fries were the real star—they took me right back to my childhood! Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend this place!

This place is a popular restaurant, so I made a reservation beforehand and visited. I was alone and went during the opening hours of the store, and I could see it filled with customers in an instant. The interior was quite Hongmi and the atmosphere was nice. The staff welcomed me and were kind every moment. I felt quite friendly because there was a paper menu in English and QR used the website on mobile and supported languages such as English, Dutch, and Spanish. I ordered Roasted Bone Marrow and Veal head in vinaigrette and wine. The meat was really tender, full of juices and flavor. I think this place is a really good restaurant not only for locals but also for travelers. I was able to have a good time and was happy. Thanks.😊

Lovely traditional estaminet with a warm and relaxed atmosphere. We had the set menu, which was excellent value. Good local food and big portions. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a visit if you want an authentic Lille experience.

This is a very cool spot not far from Lille Europe station and we have been a couple of times when staying near the station coming from/going to the UK. The selection of beers is excellent and the members of staff are friendly and helpful. The skin on frites are delicious. The veggie Welsh is very tasty but I was a little disappointed with my fish, it was a bit dry. Nevertheless, I would definitely go back next time we are in Lille. It is a great experience and very good value.
Darren Cruickshanks★★★★★
Beer selection fantastic. We ate here and ordered the burger and a Welsh. Both were ok without being spectacular. It was my first Welsh so what would I know which is why I'm keeping rating at 5.
James Hunwicke★★★☆☆
This place is undoubtedly brilliant. We visited last summer, loved it, and planned to visit again mid-afternoon this year before catching the Eurostar back to London. But when we arrived the Gentleman said he was closing in 5 minutes, for the next 1 hour and 10 minutes. Which seemed kind of random to tourists like us who are trying to plan where we visit and when, on the basis of advertised opening hours. His manner when informing us that we couldn't be accommodated was at odds with the wonderful hospitality we received elsewhere for the entire weekend that we enjoyed in the beautiful city of Lille. We look forward to having another go in the future.
Peter Chanthanakone (Director)★★★☆☆
Nice fries! But thought the sausage would be hot 😂
Guillaume Jazdonczyk★★★★★
Great modern spot hidden just next to Lille Flandres station. They manage the perfect blend of hipster bistro and authentic northern estaminet. Their cheeky branding is somewhat heavy-handed but works well, and their beers are very solid. The Welsh rarebit is good, their beef tallow fries don't match the level of a proper friterie, but are good nonetheless. Friendly, down to earth service combined with modern menus (pay by qr code at the table). It's an equally great spot to spend some time for drinks, either on the cosy outside terrace nestled in a brick courtyard, or in the chic vintage backroom. A number of electric plugs are available for the laptop working crowd.

The food service was slow and flawed. They made mistakes without apologizing and were unfriendly to customers. The food didn't match the pictures.

Disgusting hygiene and terrible service – Avoid! I ordered a cheeseburger and it was served with only mustard. When I complained, the waitress took my already-bitten burger, walked across the entire restaurant to show it to a colleague, and then brought back the EXACT same bitten burger with cheese added inside. Handling a customer's food this way is absolutely disgusting and a major hygiene violation. The staff is robotic, has zero customer service skills, and there is a huge language barrier (they don’t speak or understand English). Total disaster.

Decent portion of meal for around €14. You can have unlimited side dishes. You have options from potatoes, grilled veggies, beans etc. The resto was not busy on Sunday evening though the chicken and duck were not sold out for the day.

Terrible service. We were 5, 3 ordered burgers, one ordered an onglet and one a welsh. One burger arrived without the complete ingredients. The served said "sorry we do not have all the ingredients" The onglet arrived dried and with a disgusting taste. We complained to the restaurant and said we would paid for the drinks we have consumed. The restaurant was forcing us to pay all the dishes. We simply said no, they insisted that if we do not pay they would lose money. That is not our problem!! We simply left.

This is a very popular restaurant, so I made a reservation beforehand and visited. I went alone during the opening hours of the restaurant, and in an instant I could see it filled with customers. I liked the casual interior and the lively atmosphere. The staff welcomed me kindly at every moment, especially the smile of the female server with black permed hair was so beautiful. Her smile was warm and lovely. It is convenient because there is an English menu and the staff speaks English. The food was warm and flavorful. I had a satisfying dinner. Feel so good.

Wow, best restaurant in Lille. Excellent, friendly service, very attentive. But food...out of this world.. I had salmon as an appetizer, fish as my main main with Rose. Top it off with strawberry desert: light, fresh And so delicious!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La Petite Cour A wonderful French restaurant with truly delicious and well-executed cuisine. We ordered foie gras, escargots, and a crab-and-cabbage parcel as starters, followed by an Argentine steak, scallops, and Flemish stew as main courses. Every dish was excellent, with no weak points. The foie gras and the steak were outstanding - rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. The scallops were delicate, and the Flemish stew was hearty, comforting, and very authentic. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality French cuisine.

Lovely building. Couldn't find the door to start with 😂 Food was so delicious. Mr and my partner went with the Flemish stew and the prawn croquettes and they were absolutely delicious! The stew was very rich and a generous portion. For desert, my partner loved his cream brule And I went with their cheesecake! Absolutely divine! Was so sad that I was so full and couldn't finish it !! 100% recommend

How to Choose the Perfect Steakhouse in Lille

Selecting the right restaurant is just as important as selecting the right cut. The difference between a mediocre meal and an unforgettable one often comes down to understanding the nuances of how a restaurant sources and cooks its beef. To help you navigate the menu with confidence, we have outlined a few essential tips that will elevate your dining experience from good to exceptional.

1. Understand the French Cut Nomenclature

If you are used to American or British steak cuts, French menus can be confusing. An entrecôte is a ribeye (often served sliced), a faux-filet is a sirloin strip, and a filet is the tenderloin. If you want a bone-in rib steak, look for côte de boeuf, which is usually priced per 100 grams and designed for two people to share. Knowing these terms ensures you order exactly the texture and flavor profile you want.

2. Prioritize Maturation and Origin

The best restaurants in Lille proudly list the origin of their beef. Look for labels like Bœuf de Charolles, Race Normande, or Angus. More importantly, look for the phrase maturée (dry-aged). Dry-aging concentrates the flavor and tenderizes the meat. If a menu doesn’t mention the origin or the aging process, it is often a sign that the restaurant is not specializing in high-end steak.

3. The Sauce Debate: Béarnaise vs. The Purist Approach

In Northern France, heavy sauces are a tradition. A classic béarnaise or a poivre (peppercorn) sauce can be delightful. However, if you are ordering a premium, dry-aged cut, consider asking for the sauce on the side—or skipping it entirely. High-quality beef often needs nothing more than fleur de sel and perhaps a pat of herb butter to let the natural flavor shine.

4. Check the Grill Type

The method of cooking matters. While many French brasseries use a flat-top griddle (plancha), the best steakhouses use charcoal or wood-fired grills (grill au feu de bois). This imparts a smoky char that cannot be replicated in a pan. If you see "cuit au feu de bois" on the menu, you are likely in for a treat.

5. Don’t Skip the Entrées and Sides

While the steak is the star, the supporting cast reveals a lot about the kitchen’s standards. Look for places that make their own frites (often double-cooked in beef fat) rather than serving frozen ones. Traditional side dishes like gratin dauphinois or a simple, well-dressed green salad are indicators that the chef cares about the overall composition of the plate.

6. Book Ahead for Prime Cuts

If your heart is set on a Côte de Boeuf or a specific large cut, call ahead. Many of Lille’s top independent restaurants prepare a limited number of these large sharing steaks each evening due to the resting and preparation time required. A quick reservation note ensures the kitchen saves your cut and allows it to come to room temperature before hitting the grill.

The steakhouse landscape in Lille is vibrant and competitive, which is fantastic news for the consumer. Whether you are wandering through the cobbled streets of the old town or venturing into the bustling district of Wazemmes, you are never far from a restaurant that takes its meat seriously.

Ultimately, the best steakhouse for you depends on the experience you are after. If you want a theatrical, high-end evening with exceptional wine pairings, the modern brasseries on our list will not disappoint. If you prefer a rustic, traditional atmosphere where the focus is solely on the quality of the char and the generosity of the portion, Lille’s classic establishments will feel like a second home. Bon appétit.
