15 Best Restaurants in Cannes

Cannes is a city of cinematic glamour, sun-drenched promenades, and a dining scene that has long catered to the world’s most discerning palates. While the red carpet of the Palais des Festivals draws the global elite, the true soul of this Riviera gem is often discovered at its tables.

From the clinking of rosé glasses in the old quarter of Le Suquet to the refined plating in Michelin-starred dining rooms overlooking the Mediterranean, the city offers a remarkable gastronomic journey. The local cuisine is a celebration of Provençal bounty, where olive oil, fresh herbs, and the daily catch from the sea take center stage.

Whether you are in town for a conference, the film festival, or a leisurely holiday on the Côte d’Azur, choosing where to eat can be overwhelming. The sheer volume of options ranges from unpretentious bistros serving daube provençale to avant-garde establishments redefining French gastronomy.

To help you navigate this culinary landscape, we have curated a list that prioritizes not just reputation, but the quality of the ingredients, the authenticity of the experience, and the warmth of the welcome. These selections reflect the diversity of a city that is both a playground for the rich and a proud keeper of Niçoise and Provençal traditions.

We understand that a great meal is about more than just food; it is about the view of the Bay of Cannes, the atmosphere of a hidden cobblestone alley, and the story behind the chef. This guide aims to provide a comprehensive snapshot of the best the city has to offer, ensuring your dining experience is worthy of a standing ovation.

Below, you will find our selection of the 15 best restaurants in Cannes, each offering a distinct flavor of the French Riviera.

What an amazing surprise! The place looks very modest from the outside, but the food is absolutely outstanding. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the burger was honestly the best burger I have ever had in my life. The service was warm, friendly, and genuine. We were even offered a complimentary rum, which was a lovely touch and made us feel truly welcome. A cozy, unpretentious place with incredible food, great hospitality, and a relaxed atmosphere. Without a doubt one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in France. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience. Made a reservation and was sat promptly. Ordered the smoked duck as an appatizer which was delicate and delicious. Had the Black Sail burger which was awesome! Perfectly cooked and presented. My wife had the Foersterie which she say was also awesome. My 4 yr old son had a poulet de pané from the petite pirate menu (fried chicken nugget). Stole a bite and wish I had ordered one myself! Good beer selection with lots of cocktails to choose from. Highly recommended!!
Mary Mungai★★★★★
Best burgers hands down. Nothing compares to their burgers, steak & lamb chops. Simple menu, but great food and ambience. Service was excellent and the staff was very attentive to our needs. Went above and beyond our expectations. Would come back here every week if I lived in Cannes.
Hashem★★★★★
Hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The shrimps and calamari as starters were perfect after a long day at the beach. Fried to perfection, full of flavor, and perfect texture. The Black-Sails burger with a side of sweet fries is the combination for me. Full of flavor, portions that satisfies the hunger, and cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and quick. Highly recommended, definitely coming back.

We went out of our way to visit this burger restaurant while in Cannes, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. We waited at least 25 minutes before anyone came to our table. We were actually about to leave when a server finally came over to take our order. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so there didn't seem to be any reason for such a long wait. We simply asked for a plain double cheeseburgers,to share but the chef refused, saying, "Who would pay €30 for a plain burger?" That really isn't the point – if that's what a customer wants and is happy to pay for, it shouldn't be an issue. To make matters worse, the restaurant wasn't especially clean or immaculate either. Overall, the customer service was poor, the attitude was unwelcoming, and the whole experience was disappointing. Sadly, we wouldn't return or recommend it.we understand business so if they'd said minimum 50/60 euro ot wouldn't have been a problem.

By far one of the best restaurant I ate at in Cannes. The food was extraordinary, the wine delicious and the owner such a lovely person. It became my favourite place in Canens for sure!
Lisa Harrison★★★★★
Amazing food! The best in Cannes. Perfect atmosphere and reasonable prices. Couldn’t have asked for more!
Charlotte Fong★★★★★
Excellent. Wonderful and tentative service. Cosy atmosphere (there were 2 of us). Every dish was delicious. We left feeling very satisfied and highly recommend this place for a small group
Olivier Meimoun★★★★★
Very good and finally some food finesse in Cannes where food usually is (below) average. The owners are wonderful and we got special treatment when dining with two kids. Indeed we mentioned 2 days before and got kid friendly dishes (off menu). Menu is changing almost everyday and prices are reasonable. Good natural wines are dominating the list. Strongly recommended. Minus note; the bread…
Jakub Čech★★★★☆
Very small bistro. We shared three dishes. Two were amazing, but the beef tartare was unfortunately not to my taste. You definitely need a reservation in advance. The only reason for the 4-star rating is that the reservation system holds a €30 deposit per person on your card, which is quite annoying.

I was here for a walk in and surprisingly they had a table available - I was with 3 other people. I got the steak and fries (I didn’t have a picture of the fries but I have one for the steak) to share with my brother, and the other people got a grilled octopus and some chicken dish. My brother and I enjoyed the steak and thought the pepper sauce was a highlight. However, the steak could be more tender. The fries were not bad, but also not good. The sauce definitely made them taste better. The others said the dishes they ordered were good, and reasonable for the price. I tasted their dishes and they were pretty good. The service was good - the staff were very friendly. The food also arrived faster than most restaurants I’ve ate at. The portions were decent; not too much and not too little. Again, I did a walk in but when someone in my group tried to book beforehand, she was informed they were fully booked. I’m not sure if we were lucky to be able to get a table from a cancellation or if it’s normal, but if you want to come I’d recommend a booking. The seats were comfy and the atmosphere has a cohesive cozy and cafe-like vibe.

This restaurant delivers everything one hopes to find in a truly accomplished French bistro and merits the highest praise. From the moment we arrived, the service was exemplary—gracious, attentive, and expertly judged throughout. Every interaction reflected genuine hospitality, enhancing the experience without ever becoming intrusive. The menu was thoughtfully composed, offering a well-balanced selection of classic and contemporary dishes. Each course demonstrated exceptional technique, quality ingredients, and a clear respect for French culinary tradition. The standard of cooking was consistently outstanding. Particularly noteworthy was the pacing of the meal. In an era when diners can often feel hurried, we were afforded the time and space to fully appreciate each course and enjoy the occasion at a leisurely pace. A restaurant of considerable charm and distinction, delivering both refined cuisine and polished hospitality. I would recommend it without reservation to anyone seeking an authentic and memorable French dining experience.
Hala Ajil★★★★★
Good food and genuinely excellent service. We were looked after beautifully from start to finish, and that attentiveness made the whole meal better. Unfussy, well done cooking paired with staff who clearly care. The kind of place you're glad you found and would happily return to. Manon and Melissa were wonderful - we're definitely coming back!
Julia★★★★★
I will praise the octopus, as it was very well cooked - the ends of its legs were not burnt, it had a tight amount of spices. The sauce and an aubergine accompanying it were also good, but the octopus was a highlight of the dish. The starter with aubergines, although, well prepared lacked seasoning, so I would not recommend it in particular. Attentive service, the restaurant is in a very good condition, kept clean. I can imagine that other dishes taste also good.
Bradley Rumball★★★★★
La Cantine is an absolute gem, wonderful staff and food. I was unsure what I fancied to eat so asked for the whatever the chef recommended! I was not disappointed! To start a wonderful beetroot dish, for main an exquisite piece of beef and to finish an incredible Chocolate fondant. Will return soon!

We came here for lunch after reading the other positive reviews on a hot Cannes summer day. They food and service were outstanding, the owners were so nice and friendly. The stars were the fish soup and the crepes. Pls support this place
Glenn Davis★★★★★
After a walk down the Croissette we were ready for lunch. The L'Assiette Provencale was not busy, but we were fairly late, at 1340. We had grilled poulpe and assiette du pecheur, which were both excellent, as were the house wines. Of special note was the 'soup' portion of the assiette du pecheur. Was happy to have plenty of pain to soak in it. A very pleasant lunch.
Hanna François★★★★★
It was so delicious! And the people working here are the loveliest. It was a warm, sweet atmosphere, and the dishes were really great! The fish soup was amazing! And tbh everything from the starter until the dessert was yummy. Loved it a lot and highly recommend!
Alexander Soens★★★★★
The service is excellent and with a smile. The food is extremely delicious. We didn't have to ask for water for our dog. As already mentioned excellent. This place is a place to visit!
Sorin B★★★★★
Unassuming place close to the promenade… but wait to start eating! Please ask the waiter for traditional Provençal options either house wine pairing ; everything is home made. Expect an explosion of flavors in your mouth! We couldn’t try all the desserts, have to return for Pavlova and crepe! Highly recommended hidden ( in plain sight) gem!

We had a wonderful experience at La Table du Chef. The reservation process was easy, and from the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcome. This is probably one of the best restaurants we have ever visited. It’s a small, intimate place with an atmosphere that makes you feel as if you’re having dinner at the home of old friends, even if it’s your first visit. Every dish was absolutely delicious. The menu is outstanding, the wine list is excellent, and everything was prepared and served with great attention to detail. There is honestly nothing to criticize. A huge thank you to the entire team for such a memorable evening. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cannes and will definitely be back. Wishing you continued success!
Anar★★★★★
A fantastic dining experience just a short walk from La Croisette. The restaurant is quite small, but that’s part of its charm—it feels cozy, elegant, and relaxed. We chose the tasting menu, and every course had something memorable. The chilled soup with warm shrimp was an unexpected combination that worked beautifully and was probably my favorite starter. The fish with artichoke purée was another highlight—the purée was just as good as the fish itself. The beef medallion was cooked to perfection. I still can’t tell exactly how they achieved that texture, but it was incredibly tender, almost melting in the mouth. Each sauce served alongside added a different dimension without overpowering the meat. Dessert was light, fresh, and fruity—the perfect ending after a rich meal. The wine list is also worth mentioning. For Cannes, the prices are surprisingly reasonable, with plenty of good bottles in the €60–120 range. Service was excellent throughout the evening: attentive, friendly, and never intrusive. The background playlist of ’80s pop classics created a relaxed atmosphere that made us want to stay longer. If you’re looking for a place that focuses on quality ingredients, creative cooking, and genuinely good service rather than just the Cannes hype, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

An absolutely outstanding dining experience in Cannes. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff made us feel comfortable throughout the entire evening and paid attention to every detail. The food was exceptional — beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared with high-quality ingredients and real creativity. You can truly feel the passion behind the cuisine. The atmosphere was cozy, elegant, and intimate, making it the perfect place for a relaxed and memorable dinner. One of those rare restaurants where everything comes together perfectly: food, ambiance, and service. Easily one of the best restaurants we visited in Cannes, and definitely a place we would return to.

La Table du Chef was so good. Every dish was amazing, the service was great and the dinner was one of our best experiences in Cannes. We will definitely come back when we are in Cannes again. Truly a hidden gem.

Excellent restaurant with surprisingly amazing sushi! Fresh fish, beautiful presentation, and fantastic flavors. The ambiance was stylish and lively, and the service was attentive throughout the evening. Highly recommend for a special dinner in Cannes.
Vasilisa Premudraya★★★★☆
Large and lively restaurant with atmosphere🥳 The food was simply average and not particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the main course was served already cold. The desserts were also rather disappointing. In my opinion, this is a place to visit with a large group for the atmosphere and the social scene.
E C★★★☆☆
They need to make it much clearer online when making reservations that the outdoor seating isn’t available as an option. The atmosphere inside is hardly as vibrant or enjoyable as it is outside. This place is incredibly pretentious - the ladies standing outside asking for reservations are quite rude and appear to be looking down at you. One lady in particular was quite condescending when I asked why we were inside. That isn’t clear whatsoever on the website bookings and I think they know that and use it to their advantage. That being said the food is very good, if you order the right things it’s not too expensive. The cockerel was super delicious and juicy. So was the catch of the day. Definitely recommend sharing Le Cookie with ice cream and caramel for dessert !! Overall it’s nice and definitely worth a visit, but just know it might not be all it seems as it is online / social media.
MV★★☆☆☆
What a disappointment. This place was hyped up everywhere, so I decided to give it a shot. Huge mistake. To be fair, the vibe and service are nice—very fancy. But the food... We ordered the catch of the day to share, and it was full of bones. It was practically inedible. It came with a side of puree, and I ordered a salad to go with it. The portions are micro-sized. The salad in the photo is literally the size of my fist and costs 40 euros. The tiny fish we shared (and barely ate due to the bones) was 90 euros. We spent 180 euros total for two people and left absolutely starving! Do not recommend at all. If you want to check it out because it's trendy, just grab a drink and go. The food is awful, expensive, and the portions are ridiculous. Never again
J T G Nielsen★★★★★
La Mome is a serious and amazing restaurant where the high society of Canned can be seen having a fabulous time for dinner! Service is fantastic as is the menu and food! The speed and elegance of service and many delicious meals makes this place that serves over 500 people every night truly amazing and impressive! Watch the staff glide around taking care of each table as diners arrive dressed to impress! The restaurant is also located on the beach and is a must to visit and in London and Monte Carlo! Value? Well this is Cannes and at the top end!! Enjoy and book well in advance!!

An amazing Greek restaurant in downtown Cannes. Randomly were looking to have dinner in the center and found Parthenopi and was pleasantly surprised. The food taste amazing and the quality and presentation was very nice. The staff were super friendly and recommend the dishes based on your choices. They serve both fish and meat and the fish was super tasty. They have variety of nice starters to share and were amazing. The restaurant is not particularly cheap but considering the area is quite understandable. Definitely recommended to try out.
Rena★★★★★
Great Greek food and definitely worth a visit! The staff were really friendly. Even though they were almost out of chicken, they checked for us and managed to prepare two chicken dishes. We really appreciated it and had a great experience!
Hala Ajil★★★★★
A genuine hidden gem in Cannes. Stella looked after us and from the moment we sat down she and her family made us feel completely at home. The warmth here is the real thing, not the polished kind you get at the bigger spots along the Croisette. You can tell this is a proper family-run place where they actually care that you leave happy. The food was also phenomenal! Everything was hearty and clean at the same time, which is a hard balance to strike. The flavours were bright and authentic, clearly made from proper recipes and fresh ingredients rather than churned out for the tourist crowd. The moussaka was rich and comforting, the hummus silky and full of flavour, and every plate arrived looking beautiful and tasting even better. Generous portions too, so we left thoroughly stuffed and very happy. We came with our toddler and felt so welcome the entire time, which isn’t always a given. If you want authentic Greek food and people who genuinely treat you like family, this is the place to come in Cannes. We’ll absolutely be back.
Tony Bricknell★★★★★
A hidden gem in the heart of Cannes ❤️ This is the most friendly, family-run restaurant, where food is life and good food is guaranteed. We were welcomed like family and treated to the best food, cooked by people who clearly care about what they do. Tucked down a side street away from the tourist restaurants, this place is absolute first class - the seafood alone puts many restaurants to shame, and yes, it's Greek! We even bought the olive oil they cook with, it's that good. We've been visiting Cannes for 5 years and only just discovered this hidden gem. Will we be back? Absolutely. Perfection ❤️
Vanessa Martini★★★★☆
Lovely Greek restaurant in the heart of Cannes. We took several (warm and cold) appetizers and they were tasty and flavourful! The service was good and the staff welcoming! It can be a bit crowded but overall a very nice experience. Highly recommended!

Loved everything about this place. It was the first restaurant we ate at where we were blown away. Lisa and Farida served us: they were friendly, attentive, and made us feel at home. The food was inventive, beautifully executed, and still felt honest and unpretentious, with flavours that land every single time. It sat right alongside Sens and Table 22 (sister restaurant) as a real highlight of the trip, all three sharing that artistic but down to earth quality we adore. Thoughtful cooking, lovely atmosphere, and the sort of meal that stays with you. Can't recommend it more!
Lisa Ketchum★★★★★
Everything lined up perfectly for me at UVA. The food was simply amazing, the presentation gorgeous, taste sublime. The wine was delicious. That could have been enough for the 5 stars, but on top of that, their careful attentiveness, the music that they chose, and their decor created the most wonderful vibe. I absolutely love that they prioritize street art on their walls. I could not have had a more ideal experience, it was like they created the place just for me.
Jessica Regan★★★★★
Delicious food and wine, nice service. A bit loud but not enough to take away from the lovely dinner we enjoyed

Everything was beyond expectations! The food was surprise. The atmosphere was casual but they have great red wine! We loved the dish they served so much. Then we made the reservation for the next day. It was off-course fantastic! We highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Absolutely amazing food and drinks - the mojito was especially good, the goat cheese focaccia and truffle gnocchi were to die for and all this was before the main which was fish of the day, cooked to perfection. We finished for a gluttonous dessert, which was the chocolate fondant and crème brûlée, both of which were out of this world. Absolute 6 star dinner and walked out for less than €150, with 4 drinks total, absolute bargain for Cannes!

This restaurant is an absolute gem in Cannes. Every single dish we tried was completely delicious, and the service was warm, fast, and attentive throughout the night. I was really impressed by the extensive wine list with so many great choices. You can actually see how spotless the kitchen is and how tidy the chefs are, which clearly shows the high level and standard of this place. If you are visiting Cannes, you definitely need to check it out. Just keep in mind that they are only open during the summer season, so do not miss your chance!

Give stars for the soufflé — best during my trip! The food is average but good value for the price for lunch set. I recommend just getting a main course with the soufflé.

Truly great experience. I’ve been to Cannes 5+ times and went here for the first time. Such a great team here and genuinely great food/atmosphere that will reward you once you walk past all the tourist traps. The food is excellent but the service sends this over the top.

Excellent dinner in the heart of Le Suquet. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a genuine neighbourhood feel away from the more touristy parts of Cannes. The food was fresh, well prepared and full of flavour, with a thoughtfully curated menu. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening, and the team made us feel genuinely welcome. A great spot for anyone looking for a quality meal away from the seafront crowds. Highly recommended.

One of the best meals of our entire trip. The cooking reminded me of Copenhagen, artistic but down to earth, original and delicious. We wanted to order everything on the menu (we nearly did)! The duck and coconut rice was like nothing I'd ever eaten - melts in your mouth! One of the chefs (Cecile) also came out to speak to us, which was lovely. This is the kind of place where each dish surprises you a little and then delivers on the taste, which doesn't always happen with food this creative. Service was warm and the whole evening had a lovely rhythm to it. Both Amandine and Jeff were so warm friendly, which really helped make the experience that much more pleasant. We'd go back without a second thought and it's one of the first places I'd recommend in Cannes.

Very pleasantly surprised that the menu had Mexican influences due to the Chef Ariel Mcqueen. Food was really good with unique tastes, and service was very attentive and friendly. I would also recommend trying their cocktails.

More than just a dinner, a true experience! The restaurant is small and the tables are quite close together, but the atmosphere is absolutely unforgettable: dim lighting, an open kitchen, signature cocktails prepared right at the bar… truly beautiful. The menu is not very extensive — I believe it changes periodically according to the season — but there are still options for every taste. The flavor combinations are very unique, refined, and carefully crafted down to the smallest detail. Of course, this is not an inexpensive restaurant, but as an overall experience and for the quality of the dishes, it is definitely worth choosing for a special occasion. I highly recommend everything, including the cocktails and desserts!🍸

The dining experience here was wonderful! The starters sea bream and wagyu tataki were especially recommended! For the mains, we shared the octopus and glazed pork. The pork was crispy on the outside and tender inside, easy to eat but a little heavy for me. The octopus matched perfectly with the sauce and was very delicious! It was a pity that I couldn’t try the dessert because I was too full 🥲 The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. I highly recommend visiting!

The food, the atmosphere and the live entertainment were excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive and we had a really enjoyable evening. We also knew in advance that this is a high-end restaurant, so we expected the prices to be on the higher side. Unfortunately, our experience at the end of the evening was very disappointing. When we received the bill, we noticed that six shots (€15 each) had been added, even though we had never ordered them. There were only two of us, and we were certain of everything we had ordered. The original bill was over €400, while we knew it should have been around €312. After pointing this out, the waitress corrected the bill and returned with a receipt for around €320. However, when she handed us the card terminal, the amount displayed was €372. When I asked about the difference, she simply said it was for the service. At that moment, in the middle of the party atmosphere and after we had already had several drinks, I paid because I assumed it was something mandatory. Looking back, I realised that this amount had been added as a tip without asking for our consent. We had every intention of leaving a tip because we were happy with the service. However, I find it completely unacceptable for a tip to be added or selected without clearly asking the customer first. This left a very negative impression and unfortunately overshadowed what had otherwise been a lovely evening.

This restaurant was a complete surprise as I was sure that the music was going to be too load.. but this was not the case at all.. the food was DELICIOUS TOO! ..The servers were all welcomming... the atmosphere festive and not over-whelming!! So enjoyable!

Service was slow with two power cuts during the night and we were given a table for 6 with 8 people. Otherwise great food and great atmosphere. We recommend that you have a breakdown of your bill as they did not take off our prepaid deposit from the bill. In the end we had to pay and they told us they would refund us the next day, thankfully it’s now been refunded but we anyways recommend you check this and sorting this all definitely put a dampener on our night.

Went there with some friends, Great night! The food and the show were really amazing. The atmosphere is very special and unique, loved it. Highly recommend if you’re in Cannes!

The SpeakEasy is well located, just parallel to the Martinez in Cannes, which makes it easy to find. The staff is truly exceptional—warm, kind, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. I really appreciated their energy and hospitality. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight of the place. There are live musicians with beautiful voices, creating a vibrant and joyful ambience. It was a real pleasure to be there, especially with a lively group from the UK that added to the fun. A great place to enjoy a memorable evening. The food is good, but honestly overpriced for the portions and overall quality. Not bad, but not worth the premium they're asking. What really felt excessive were the drink prices—for example, a simple glass of Chablis at €17 is, in my opinion, pushing the limits. In short: go for the ambience, music, and amazing staff—they make the night special. But be aware that you'll be paying premium prices, especially for drinks and food that don't justify the cost.

We enjoyed the vibes here! The menu was great, with a lot of variety and very tasty! Totally recommend the sardines, tuna steak, octopus and the fruit plates. And lastly, Etienne was a great host and made sure everything is perfect! 👏

I don’t want to be unfair, because the staff were genuinely attentive and helpful. When a few men kept bothering us, the team reacted quickly and handled the situation professionally, which I really appreciated. However, I didn’t really enjoy the overall atmosphere. The crowd wasn’t quite what I expected, and because there is another beach club next door, the music from both venues mixes together, making it difficult to relax or enjoy the ambiance. The food was ok , but overall the experience wasn’t for me.

Visiting Cannes during the International Film Festival. We chose this restaurant for my husband’s birthday lunch. The atmosphere and view was fantastic! Food was amazing as well as the very attentive and friendly service. Such a pleasant lunch we had at Hyde.

What an absolutely fantastic experience! The service was exceptional from start to finish – attentive, professional, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The Killian made us feel genuinely welcome and looked after throughout our visit. The food was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and prepared to a very high standard. The atmosphere was warm, stylish, and relaxing, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal. It’s refreshing to find a restaurant where both the food and service are equally outstanding. Thank you to the Killian for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent food and truly amazing service.”

We went to Hyde Beach in Cannes for supper and had a great experience. They were able to take us without a reservation, which we really appreciated. The view was beautiful, the atmosphere was lively, and the overall vibe was exactly what you want for dinner by the beach in Cannes. Great spot for a nice evening out.

Find the magic at this hidden gem, down a side street alley and go to Le Jardin Secret! Quaint and intimate bar/restaurant (outside patio) with decor that is warm and welcoming. It gives me speak-easy vibes! It was a complete surprise and an experience that made this solo-traveler feel incredibly welcomed. Sit with a glass of wine (or a Spritz!), order food (ravioli and hummus were delicious and so was the homemade dessert) and enjoy the vibes and the charisma of Max, who will make you feel right at home.

The place itself is really charming and great to enjoy with friends & family while sipping drinks. The staff is very friendly and thoughtful. Unfortunately we were not happy with the food. It was pretty expensive for the amount and was missing spices. It would be nice to have at least salt and pepper on the table to add if needed. Nevertheless it's one of the better places in Cannes.

This is my first time in Cannes and I can’t imagine a place that is more opposite to the general mayhem of the advertising festival. If you want a secluded place to enjoy the good weather and some tasty wine, then this is the place. It’s not fancy at all, so check yourself before you make the trip up the hill. The hospitality, food, and wine are all worth the trip.

Le Jardin Secret is an absolute hidden gem in the heart of the old town. With its quirky garden in the back, you can get away from the hustle and bustle of le Souquet and enjoy a quiet and relaxed evening. The food is authentic and delicious, and the wine list is unparalleled. To top it all off, the owner Max and his staff are so friendly and make the whole experience worthwhile. A must when visiting Cannes.

Practical Tips for Dining Out in Cannes

Navigating the restaurant scene in Cannes requires a bit of local knowledge to ensure you get the best value and experience. The city operates on a rhythm dictated by the seasons, the yachting calendar, and the festival schedule, so planning ahead can significantly elevate your meal. Here are some essential strategies to dine like a local rather than a tourist.

Book Ahead, Especially in Summer and During Congresses
Cannes is a hub for international events, from MIPIM to the Cannes Lions and, of course, the Film Festival. During these periods, the top tables are reserved weeks, if not months, in advance. Even outside of major events, the best seaside terraces fill up quickly for lunch. A quick phone call or online reservation is always safer than a walk-in.

Embrace the "Menu du Marché" at Lunchtime
If you wish to experience high-end cuisine without the high-end price tag, visit the city’s best restaurants for lunch rather than dinner. Many prestigious establishments offer a fixed-price "menu du marché" or business lunch that is significantly more affordable than their evening à la carte options, often featuring the same quality of ingredients and chef expertise.

Look Beyond the Croisette for Better Value
While dining directly on the Boulevard de la Croisette offers unbeatable people-watching and sea views, you often pay a premium for the location. Venture just a few streets back, or climb the winding stairs of Le Suquet, to find family-run bistros and hidden gems where the focus is squarely on the food, and the prices are often more reasonable for the quality received.

Understand the French Dining Schedule
Cannes is a bit more flexible than the rest of France due to its tourist influx, but kitchens generally close between lunch and dinner service. Lunch is typically served from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, while dinner service rarely starts before 7:30 PM. If you are hungry at 6:00 PM, you will likely be limited to café snacks or brasseries with continuous service.

Sample the Local Specialties
While Cannes has excellent Italian and international cuisine, don’t miss the regional dishes. Look for socca (a chickpea pancake), salade niçoise, bouillabaisse (though Marseille is more famous for it, Cannes has excellent versions), and fleurs de courgette (stuffed zucchini flowers). Pairing these with a local rosé from Provence completes the Riviera experience.

Be Aware of the "Couvert" and Service
In France, service is included in the price of your meal (service compris), so tipping is not mandatory but appreciated for exceptional service. However, you may notice a small charge for "couvert" (bread and table setting) on your bill. This is standard practice. Also, tap water is free and safe to drink; simply ask for a "carafe d’eau" rather than paying for bottled water.

As the sun sets over the Esterel mountains and the lights of the yachts begin to twinkle in the harbor, the dining scene in Cannes truly comes alive. It is a city where a simple meal can turn into a memory, and where the passion for good food is as vibrant as the city’s famous film festival.

Whether you choose a rustic bistro tucked away in the old town or a sleek rooftop terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, you are participating in a culture that reveres the art of living. Bon appétit.
