Strasbourg is a city that feels suspended between worlds, where half-timbered houses lean over quiet canals and the modern glass of the European Parliament glints just a short tram ride away. Finding the right place to stay here is not just about a bed for the night; it is about choosing how you want to experience the capital of Alsace. Whether you are visiting for the legendary Christmas markets, a romantic weekend, or a deep dive into Franco-German history, your hotel sets the tone for the entire trip.
The best accommodations in Strasbourg blend the region’s historic charm with the comfort and efficiency that modern travelers expect. While the city is famously walkable, staying in the right district can save you precious time and energy. From the cobblestone streets of Petite France to the stately boulevards of the Neustadt, each neighborhood offers a distinct atmosphere, and the hotel you choose becomes your personal gateway to that specific slice of the city.
For those who prioritize convenience, proximity to Gare Centrale or the historic Grande Île is often key. However, discerning travelers know that venturing slightly beyond the immediate city center can unlock hidden gems, such as converted mansions, boutique design spaces, and serene spa retreats. The variety of options ranges from intimate family-run guesthouses to five-star properties housed in former breweries or mansions, ensuring there is a perfect match for every budget and style.
Understanding the local landscape is crucial to making an informed decision. Many of Strasbourg’s top hotels are not just places to sleep; they are destinations in themselves, featuring Michelin-starred restaurants, panoramic rooftop terraces, and wellness centers that rival those found in much larger metropolises. These properties often weave local Alsatian craftsmanship into their decor, using regional wood, traditional fabrics, and local art to create a sense of place that is impossible to replicate elsewhere.
In this guide, we have curated a selection of the finest places to stay in Strasbourg, focusing on properties that offer exceptional value, distinctive character, or unbeatable locations. We have considered factors such as guest service, historical significance, and modern amenities to help you narrow down the choices. Whether you are a business traveler needing high-speed connectivity or a couple seeking a romantic hideaway with a view of the cathedral, this list aims to simplify your search.
Below, you will find a comprehensive list of the best hotels Strasbourg has to offer. Each property has been selected for its unique ability to enhance your visit to this enchanting border city.

I recently stayed at the ibis Strasbourg Centre Historique and had a brilliant experience. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and ideally located for exploring the beautiful historic center of Strasbourg.
What truly set this stay apart was the exceptional staff, particularly Elham. Their service was top-notch—incredibly welcoming, helpful, and attentive to every detail. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made my trip so much better. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in town!

3 nights in this hotel was too much. If we could have found an alternative we would have left.
The location is good and some of the staff pleasant and helpful. The rooms are so basic it's hard to believe. Ours had plugs only by the window, a badly leaking shower that flooded the bathroom and bedroom floor. The flooring was either loose or had been removed. The bathroom is very small and awkward to use.
The bed had a horrible stain on it and a sheet was stained. The towels are small and thin. The pillows were very thin.
The room was cold with no heating control. The TV was small and had very limited channels. Not worth using.
I would not only not recommend this property I would suggest anyone who wants a comfortable stay to avoid.

If your over 5'10 or planning on staying here with a partner don't. Just choose a different place. I hit my head in the hallway cause the ceiling is extremely low but not near the elevator just in the hallways so I didn't pay attention and I'm just 6ft not some tall basketball player. The pictures they post of the rooms are extremely deceiving to make them look bigger and we'll maintained.
Mattress is just a mattress pad on top of a box spring there is no actual mattress but don't worry the mattress is so short only part of you will be on it. I'm 6ft and basically everything below the knee was hanging off the bed. The floors are disgusting wood that looks like it has never been cleaned and its chipping. My girlfriend and I stayed 1 night out of 3 nights and left without a refund cause we honestly just wanted to leave.
I didn't even mention the tv appears to use 3 color chords from the 90s, the toilet paper was over half gone when we checked in like the staff had been using the room or something. The shower isn't caulked right so the water leaks all over the floor and it doesn't look like it's ever cleaned so I would not walk on the floor with bare feet. This is probably why the floor is chipping if it gets wet constantly from water leaks.
The area around the hotel is extremely bad and my girlfriend didn't feel safe past 6pm. I really could go on and on its horrific. Avoid at all costs and that's coming from a person who just waisted money on this place and booked another hotel within an hour of checking in.
I know this seems harsh but I'm being as nice as I can and just listing out clear issues cause I'd be here all day typing if I didn't stick to things I've taken pictures of to prove they are an issue since hotels like to try and remove bad reviews. So I have pictures for everything I've mentioned above. This isn't just a bad hotel it's been left to rot for years and should be avoided.

The breakfast menu is very poor ,the cups and plates not Totally cleaned , l had to clean it with myself before using , also we found worms and fungus inside the peach 🤮,
About the room size you need to move with your side not fitting all the weights.
About the receptionists they are very helpful.
Location is superb, just 2 min. Form line B tram

I enjoyed my staay here, great location just minutes of walk away from La Petite France. The room is cozy yet functional, I appreicate there is window in the bathroom. Good AC during the summer. The breakfast is hearty with various of options, love it.

You don't necessarily need luxury facilities to have a nice experience and here is an excellent example. Chose it as one of the cheaper options falling within the business travel budget and left with an unexpectedly pleasant experience. The only thing which could improve a little at this price point is breakfast.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. The cleaning personell have a lot more sense of care and attention to details than most high end places I had stayed at.
And many thanks to whoever took my clean clothes, which I had just left out on the bed, and took time to hang all of them properly.

The hotel is okay overall, but I really wish they would include some vegetables at breakfast. I’m not asking for much - just some cucumbers and tomatoes would be enough. They support boost your immune system, and give you natural energy without being heavy or greasy. Eating vegetables regularly can also help with hydration and overall well-being.

We had a wonderful family stay: the welcome was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful. It was clean and warm, and it was a shame we couldn't stay longer. The rooms are modern and colorful, with everything you need, and the quality and price are excellent. Easy access to the outdoor parking (additional cost), but the area is safe and within walking distance of the city center. Breakfast is available on site or at nearby bakeries and cafes. We'll definitely be back!
helen flynn★★★★★
The room was compact but comfortable and the hotel was just 4 stops on the bus from the train station. The receptionist Natalie was really welcoming and helpful in showing us how to get to key sights. Her professionalism and customer focus stood out
Erdem Turgan★★★★★
The hotel is considered very close to the center. We were able to reach the center in 20-25 minutes on foot, or in about 10 minutes using public transport. A bus line runs on the street above, and a tram line on the street below. The rooms are generally adequate, but I can't say the same for the heating. We were given a blanket upon request, but I still would have expected the heating to be better. I would also like to thank Ms. Camille Bauer here, who helped us with another issue we had regarding payment. The hotel's breakfast, coffee, and similar amenities are also quite satisfactory. It is a very good option in terms of value for money (price/performance).

I’m writing this comment to say how much I appreciated the attentiveness of the hotel staff at dinner. Since there was a set menu and we were staying for several days, they created a special menu just for us so we wouldn't get tired of the food. They were so friendly that—even though I had never written a Google review before—I decided to write one.
Jim Lowery★★★★☆
Great location with a short walk to the nearest tram and bus stops, making it easy to get around the city. The staff were all friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The room was nicely decorated, and the bed provided the level of comfort I have come to expect from a Hilton property. All of the room's amenities and necessities functioned well.
I especially appreciated that, rather than providing the usual bottled water, the hotel supplied a carafe that could be refilled at a filtered water station. It was a thoughtful and environmentally friendly touch.
The shower included some leftover fixtures from a previous renovation, which made its operation a bit confusing at first. However, the shower itself worked perfectly and had excellent water pressure. The only downside was that, during the heat wave, the room temperature remained around 25°C (77°F) overnight despite the air conditioning.
The breakfast was plentiful and outstanding, with a wide variety of options and something for everyone. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would gladly return.

Room was great, very clean and big. Bed was comfortable enough, harder than we’re used to but we got a nice sleep regardless. The staff was very helpful and nice regarding all of our questions.
Food however was not the best. My boyfriend had some steak which he liked, my salad however was insanely bad. I ordered the caesar salad with chicken, expecting it to be an alright salad, it was not. First of all it was deconstructed, the anchovies which are usually mixed in with the sauce were not. The chicken was SUPER dry, to the point it was hard to swallow. Lastly, half the salad was parmesan slices. I’ve had better caesar salads from the grocery store than whatever the salad I had here.
Breakfast was alright enough, had many different choices. The scrambled eggs tasted quite literally like air, no flavour what so ever.
Other than this our stay was fine!

Old Hotel but well maintained. Giving them 4 stars because the toilets have dark spots under the rim. The lounge and the breakfast were good. The staff were kind and attentive (surpringly some restaurant staff could not understand English, which I would expect in large international hotel)

Spent 2 nights here during the really hot and ongoing weather. Khatia is a credit to the Hilton brand. She was so helpful and attentive when checking me in. All the staff I came across were really helpful. I upgraded to an executive room, that was okay but the room was a bit tired. This allows access to the executive lounge which served a great breakfast and snacks between 5&7. The location was ideal for the tram or bus, both a leisurely 5 minute walk away. Felt very safe.

Three night stay with family to visit the Christmas markets.
Booked two rooms, one double and one triple for our adult daughters.
Location - very good. About a ten minute walk from the hotel to the main square of the Christmas markets. But as it is outside the main part of the old town across the river it is much easier to access. If you stay in a hotel in the central area bounded by the rivers, it can be difficult to access your hotel as the bridges are closed to cars including taxis and Ubers from 11am and all bags you have crossing the bridges will be searched. About a 10 minute drive from main train station although traffic can make this longer.
Rooms - in many years of travel across all continents including a lot in Europe I have never stayed in a smaller hotel room. It was tiny and even getting to the other side of the bed was a challenge. Note that this seems to be specific to one room on each floor, which is down the end of the corridor, can’t recall the number.
Breakfast - excellent. Plenty of choice of good quality food in a lovely cellar room
Service - reception was perfunctory at best, serviceable but nothing more
Would not stay again due to the risk of getting the tiny room but would be ok if those rooms could be avoided

Overall a good experience. The room provides all the essentials. The location is very good, by walking you can reach all the central places. The stuff was polite and helpful. The only disappointment was a miscommunication about the the parking lot.
Maurizio Errico★★★★☆
It's good for its price, it's close to the city center while not being in the middle of it. Every location is reachable on foot in about 15 minutes at most.
Staff is very nice and cordial.
Worst problem for me that the wifi in the room was extremely poor. I can put up with a small room, but not with that poor of a wifi in 2026.

This is a good visit. The recent renovations are excellent. The location is perfect. The staff was very good and helpful. Many of the staff that I interacted with are students at the university. They were all bright, engaging and a joy to talk to. I will return.
Özlem Ayvaz★☆☆☆☆
The older man at the reception had very poor English, misunderstood almost everything I said, and responded with an incredibly RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL attitude.
After that interaction, I left without even booking a room. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior from a stranger.
If you value being treated with basic respect, stay somewhere else!

Its an ok hotel that is walkable from the train station. The staff is really nice and helpful but the breakfast can be better. The rooms are below average and although the location is very near the tram stop, its not safe at night esp. for women.

Our stay at this hotel was truly fantastic. The location couldn’t be better—close to all the popular tourist spots, with the Christmas market just a short five-minute stroll away. What made the experience exceptional was the service. Safia and Genesia went above and beyond in every interaction. Their professionalism, friendliness, and genuine care made us feel welcomed and well looked after from the moment we arrived. Their outstanding customer service really set this hotel apart. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here for an unforgettable and comfortable experience.

The rooms and breakfeast as you could expect at that price level. The staff was very nice and helpful. And the hotel is very well located to reach the center with a short walk.
Martyn Webb★☆☆☆☆
We wanted to visit the Christmas markets in Strasbourg and knew this hotel was in an excellent location. What is important to note is that we learnt the hard way it is NOT car friendly (i.e. it was not clearly referenced anywhere) that we needed to reserve a parking spot if we had a car (and also to note you have to cross the tramlines to get to the car park so be warned). When we initially arrived at the hotel on the evening of Saturday 20 December I was rudely welcomed by the lady at reception who pretty much said it was my problem and that we would need to park elsewhere. She recommend somewhere but that was full. Fortunately we know Strasbourg enough so went out of the city to a park and ride. If you have a car and don't know the city I would advise against this hotel. The rooms were acceptable and what one expects from an Ibis so no complaints about that - bed (although not the most comfortable compared to other Ibis) and a clean bathroom. Unfortunately the room we were in you had to go up the lift and then still take stairs...this was very frustrating with our suitcases. The walls are also paper thin so you can hear everything in rooms next door (including things you or children don't want to hear). The breakfast was also not the best I have experienced from any Ibis in terms of customer service or food selection and quality. As a Diamond member of the Accor All club I have stayed in a number of Ibis hotels across the globe and comparing Ibis with Ibis this was by far one of the bottom of the list. I would personally not recommend. Customer service needs a lot of work.

So close to main train station. They have ac, but unusually hot weather stressed system (evidently) as they placed a paper sign on thermostat. So, not perfect ac but at least better than nothing. Let’s hope they upgrade it to industrial quality. If they do, I’d recommend this hotel 100% if you’re looking for a very practical stay while using it as a base to either visit Strasbourg by train.

Location is a very important factor when traveling and staying close to your workplace. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The manager was especially welcoming, and the trainee, Hiba, always had a smile on her face. The room was quite small and dark, but overall, I had a satisfactory stay at ibis budget Strasbourg.

Do not recommend at all. We had bedbugs in our room and were told to send an email to the manager for a reimbursement. After weeks I'm still waiting for a reply. The receptionist and night guard did not care much either. Moreover the toilet seat looked disgusting and the shower was tiny. No way to shower without constantly hitting the walls by accident and I'm even 1,60m short...
Вероника Насуля★☆☆☆☆
Our room smelled like toilet and I am not even joking. I don’t recommend taking this place.
I mean for this price it can be simple but not like sleeping in the public WC. I opened the window for the whole night but it didn’t help.
I also saw the bedbugs in our room.
We didn’t have even soap in our toilet.
No towels.
The room looked unclean.
The worse place
Ayoub Bouida★☆☆☆☆
Staying at this hotel in Strasbourg was, without exaggeration, a complete disaster. We had booked and fully paid for our room months in advance, yet the receptionist was so unbelievably careless that she charged us a second time as if she had no idea what she was doing. The original payment was €91.90, and because of one employee’s unbelievable incompetence, we were forced to pay an extra €81.90 for their mistake.
The staff here is on another level of useless. In my experience, they showed zero professionalism, zero respect, and zero ability to resolve even the simplest issue. They don’t communicate, they don’t organize, and they clearly don’t care. The internal management felt like pure chaos. Honestly, it gave the impression that they take advantage of tourists rather than serve them.
This is, hands down, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Strasbourg—and possibly anywhere. The service was pathetic, the attitude was disgusting, and the level of incompetence was almost impressive in how extreme it was.
If you value your money, your time, or even your dignity, do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place as possible.
Ali Khosroshahi★☆☆☆☆
Such a messy and smelly room. If you’re looking for cheap accommodation, you can book a room here, but you’ll definitely be wasting your money.

The google maps pin is wrong, it took us forever to find the place at night.

A wonderful hotel in a stunning city. Visit Strasbourg and you won't be disappointed. The Le Kleber hotel was fabulous. Accommodating, helpful. Large, clean rooms. Great bathroom. Soft comfortable and spacious bed. Breakfast was brilliant . Cannot recommend more highly. Close to tramlines and on Kleber square so occasionally noisy but not unmanageable.
Richelle Lloyd★★★☆☆
Great location right next to the Metro/trams. Beds are cozy. issues we had were,
pillows smelt like day old gym socks, (but I sprayed them with Bounce so not that big of a deal.)
We came in late September and to me it was way to warm. However; despite advertising AC on their website there was none so we roasted pretty good as staff said they had it off. If you opened the window you had the city noise. So it was a no go to open it.
We were on the breakfast floor very noisy in the am
Tram cars shake the building and very noisy.
The windows do not have window shades that fut do the room gets extra bright.
Asked for extra blanket but was told they are limited.
Staff was not very kind but not rude. Kinda in the middle. Overall it wasn't a bad place to stay.
Dagoberto Larosa★☆☆☆☆
The hotel is incredibly cramped, the elevator broke multiple times during our stay (with us getting stuck in it for 10 minutes), the rooms were not cleaned properly with stains left in the closet, The breakfast is powdered eggs, the rooms online do not match the actual rooms. No resolution was provided when we submitted complaints.
Update: ratatouille showed up on our last night wishing us a merry Christmas. The hotels front desk response was that they never knew of mice being in the hotel but, handily had mouse traps available. Which they expected us to lay for them.....which we did.
If I could give 0 stars I would.
Ulrike Franke★★★★★
On arrival we received an upgrade from the friendly staff to a nice spacious room overlooking the square. The breakfast was very good and we were surprised the hotel has only 3 stars. We would happily come back
Gina Gretton★★☆☆☆
This hotel is central but it is also really noisy. Whether it's the noise outside, the trams rattling the building, the paper thing walls through which you can hear everything...it's a lot. I was also next to the breakfast room. If it hadn't been Christmas markets, I'd have gone elsewhere. We paid £200 per night which is robbery. Luckily, the ear plugs available in the shop across the way (Normal) were cheap. They worked a treat!

I can’t put a finger on the rooms it self. Nice beds; nice pillows and good quality towels. A good size room, even though we came two adult and two kids.
Two mayor isues though;
1) The rooms aren’t soundproof, at all, so we could here a loud “glonk” sound from the elevator every time it was in use and the sweet love making from our upstair neighbors
2) The ground floor had a really weird smell which wasn’t very pleasant while eating breakfast
..
The service at the hotel was very pleasant, but they forget a towel, forgot to close our window and forgot to put duvet cover on the kids bed one day.

1000000% obsessed with this little Strasbourg gem. In the middle of a heatwave right now and the a/c works so good (I am American and its phenomenal)!! Which can be hard to find. The neighborhood isn't the best; there’s some noise and shouting in the evenings. However, the hotel is within a 12-minute walk to the city center. The room is nice, clean, and has been recently renovated. There is also a mini-fridge in the room.
The only drawback is that there isn't a proper closet. They could have added more shelves alongside the hanging space, but I guess that was up to the interior designer’s whim. Also, the room only has instant coffee; I thought those days were over and that everyone had switched to capsule coffee by now. These are small, inexpensive details that I believe really matter.

Located north of thy city center (the island) is in a pretty decent spot to walk to wherever you'd like to go. Fantastic hotel with lovely rooms, lovely common spaces and very accommodating staff. We loved this hotel! The rooms were extremely clean and well cared for. The bed was comfortable, and the staff was friendly. A truly exceptional hotel in the heart of Strasbourg:
Arriving by car through the pedestrian zone is already a little adventure in itself, but with the clear instructions provided by the hotel it was absolutely no problem. We used the highly recommendable valet parking service, which made everything very easy and convenient.
The hotel itself, its staff, and its location are simply wonderful. Cour du Corbeau is full of history, with a heritage going back several hundred years. Famous historical figures such as Axel Oxenstierna and the Vicomte de Turenne — two of the most important military and political figures of the Thirty Years’ War era — are said to have stayed here.
Despite its extraordinary historical character, the hotel has been renovated to a very high modern standard. The atmosphere is unique: historic architecture, elegant comfort, excellent service, and a perfect location all come together beautifully.
In every respect, this is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. Highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel. Staff, facilities, service are all of a very high standard, worthy of a 5-star hotel. The breakfast was delightful. The location is ideal to easily visit Strasbourg. I highly recommend.
There is no parking on site but the multi-story car park nearby is really nice. The hotel offers a valet parking service if needed, which is handy.

We stayed here for one night together with our child(s) in an adjoining room which was perfectly set up for us.
The front desk were super friendly on check in and gave us a room early so we could leave all our baggage and visit the city
It is in an ideal location and the rooms were very quiet indeed.
Breakfast was excellent with a great choice and very attentive and friendly staff, we were able to leave our baggage until catching our train mid afternoon.
Of special mention was the concierge/ baggage colleague who was super friendly and helpful and also the cleaning staff
I would highly recommend the hotel and we would definitely stay again in the future

Of the 8 cities we stayed in on our three-week travels through France, Belgium, the Netherlands, German and Switzerland, this was probably the best room we stayed in. Wonderful sitting area, comfortable bed, great bathroom and the bottle of Alsatian Reisling was the perfect welcome gift to Strasbourg.. The architecture is incredible and we wish the weather had been better to take advantage of the great courtyard. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel has a great location just steps from the river, the Cathedral and many charming patisseries and cafes. A short walk to Le Hache, a restaurant the staff turned us on to that we highly recommend, where we went back twice just for the asperge and jambon that was in season in spring. Strasboourg was the last stop on our journey, and Cour de Corbeau couldn't have provided a better finale.
Essential Tips for Booking Your Stay in Strasbourg
Securing the right hotel in Strasbourg requires a bit of strategy, especially if you are traveling during peak seasons. The city’s calendar is packed with events that dramatically affect availability and pricing, from the European Parliament sessions to the world-famous Christmas markets. By understanding the rhythm of the city and planning your logistics carefully, you can ensure a smoother experience and often find better value for your money.
- Book Far in Advance for the Christmas Markets: If you plan to visit between late November and December, do not wait. Hotels in the city center can sell out months ahead, and prices often triple. Booking at least three to six months in advance is the best way to secure a room in a top-tier property.
- Consider the Tram Lines: You do not need to stay directly next to the Cathedral to be conveniently located. Strasbourg’s tram system is excellent and efficient. Choosing a hotel near a tram stop in the Neustadt or near the European institutions can offer better rates while keeping you just 5–10 minutes from the historic center.
- Check for Air Conditioning: While Strasbourg has a temperate climate, summer heatwaves are becoming more common. Many historic half-timbered buildings lack central air conditioning. If you are visiting in July or August, verify that your room has climate control to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep.
- Understand Parking Logistics: If you are arriving by car, the narrow streets of the Grande Île can be a challenge. Look for hotels that offer on-site parking or valet services, or consider staying slightly outside the center near a Park-and-Ride facility. Driving into the heart of Petite France is often restricted and stressful.
- Leverage the Strasbourg City Pass: Some hotels partner with the local tourism office to offer the Strasbourg City Pass, which includes free access to museums, a boat tour, and public transport. Ask your hotel about this perk upon check-in; it can save you a significant amount on sightseeing costs.
Strasbourg is a city that rewards those who linger, and having a comfortable, well-located base makes all the difference. Whether you spend your days exploring the astronomical clock of the Cathedral, cycling along the Ill river, or tasting Alsatian wines in a hidden winstub, returning to a hotel that feels like a sanctuary is the ultimate luxury.
By choosing a property that aligns with your travel style—whether that means historic grandeur, minimalist design, or family-friendly functionality—you set yourself up for an authentic Alsatian experience. Take your time reviewing the options above, consider the tips provided, and prepare to fall under the spell of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
