15 Best Restaurants in Benidorm

Benidorm’s dining scene has evolved dramatically over the last two decades. What was once known primarily for full English breakfasts and fish and chips has matured into a genuinely diverse culinary destination.

Today, the city balances its British expat heritage with authentic Valencian traditions, modern Spanish gastronomy, and a growing wave of international cuisine. From hidden tapas bars in the old town to elegant rice restaurants overlooking the Mediterranean, there is something for every budget and palate.

Because Benidorm attracts so many repeat visitors, the best restaurants are not always the most visible ones on the seafront. Locals tend to avoid the overpriced tourist traps with picture menus and aggressive touts.

Instead, they head to the narrow streets of the Casco Antiguo, the fishing quarter, or slightly inland neighborhoods where family-run businesses have served the same recipes for generations. Knowing where to look is the difference between a forgettable meal and a highlight of your trip.

Spanish dining times are also different from northern Europe. Lunch is typically served from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm, while dinner rarely starts before 8:30 pm. Many of the best traditional kitchens will not open their doors before this time.

This guide focuses on restaurants that offer excellent value, genuine hospitality, and a true sense of place. Whether you are looking for fresh seafood, wood-fired rice, prime steak, or creative vegetarian dishes, the following selection reflects the real Benidorm.

To help you navigate the options, the list below is organized by style and location rather than by ranking. Every entry has been chosen for its consistency, quality of ingredients, and reputation among local residents.

Had my wife's birthday meal here, very nice place to go for lovely food. My steak was cooked to perfection. The menu is extensive so worth a look before you arrive. Highly recommend. Wheelchair accessible.

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience. Everything tasted amazing, and the oysters were by far the best I’ve ever had. The setting made it even more special, with a stunning view of the sea that created a perfect, relaxing atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can truly slow down and enjoy the moment. On top of that, the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for great food in a beautiful location.

We booked a table of 8 for a girls holiday, we had the BEST time! Our server Marcelo was simply the best, he was so attentive and so energetic & funny. He really made the experience for us all. Would 100% recommend to anyone coming, we will be booking again.

. An absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end! 🤍 The food was simply delicious. Every dish was beautifully presented with great attention to detail and creativity, and the flavors were outstanding. The cheesecake topped with fresh berries was definitely a highlight—just as beautiful as it was delicious! The service was impeccable. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, attentive, and always happy to answer our questions. We felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. And the view… absolutely breathtaking! The setting is stunning and makes the whole experience even more special, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a romantic dinner, or simply looking for a wonderful evening out. Thank you to the entire team for such an amazing experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place to everyone! 🌅🍽️✨ Thank you for making my birthday even more memorable with your thoughtful surprise and the delicious birthday dessert! 🎂💕

Recently visited - last week - we had a reservation and was led to a small table in the Veranda tucked in the corner - the smell of drains was awful - so we asked to be moved - the server said it was the smell of the sea? - what rubbish - anyway we declined to sit there and he was not happy - another server came over and gave us a better table three tables along and there was no smell!!! The food was very good but it seemed the staff were rushed off their feet so this made us feel awkward - as our drinks took ages to arrive - we will go back but with an open mind and be sure of our seating! Views over Benidorm were lovely and location is great!

Lovely place with amazing food. Have been on a mission to find the best Greek lamb Kleftico since our honeymoon in Corfu many years ago and this was even better. 20 out of 10. Big lamb portion with so much flavour and waxy potatoes. Amazing. My wife had Salmon and salad and she doesn't eat fish much if at all. Will definitely be back again.
Mariia Merlyn★★★★★
We had an amazing experience at this Greek restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious. The portions are very generous, so make sure to come hungry. Although we were hungry and still could manage only one portion for two, they are very big. There’s a huge variety of dishes in the menu, from classic Greek dishes to seafood and grilled specialties, and everything we tried was fantastic. The service was truly outstanding — attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. On top of that, the prices are more than fair for the quality and portion sizes. Such great value for money. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Greg Crane★★★★★
Really nice Greek restaurant 🇬🇷 Everything was so tasty that I didn’t even manage to take photos of the gyro souvlaki and grilled calamari — we just ate them too fast. I did get some pictures of the starters we had, though. The service was also very good, honestly better than average compared to other places nearby. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you’re craving flavorful Greek food in a friendly atmosphere.

Don’t give 5 stars easily - but this place truly deserves it! From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding - Elton, in particular, was an absolute delight and made our evening so enjoyable. The restaurant itself is welcoming and beautifully decorated (don't judge a book by its cover was definitely true, which was what another reviewer had mentioned!) We booked easily on a Saturday in October, though I imagine in summer you’d definitely want to reserve ahead. The food was exceptional. It was warm, fresh bread with flavourful tzatziki, perfectly balanced moussaka, and an incredible beef and cheese dish with meat that was tender and cooked to perfection. Our drinks (a tinto de verano and a glass of red wine) paired wonderfully with the meal. We finished with delicious coffees (finally served with a biscuit which wws a detail we’d been missing all week in Benidorm!) and a homemade pistachio kadaif dessert, which was sweet, rich, and memorable. All this for less than 60 euros - well worth the price for such great service and incredible food. Our main regret was that we didn’t discover this gem earlier in our trip! We’re even tempted to return for our final night. It's truly been the perfect way to end a great holiday.
Baiba Meiere★★★★★
Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the service made us feel genuinely welcomed—attentive, warm, and effortlessly professional without ever feeling intrusive. It’s rare to find hospitality that feels this sincere. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish showcased exceptional quality, fresh ingredients, and authentic Greek and Albanian flavors, clearly prepared with care and pride. Each bite was perfectly balanced, generous, and deeply satisfying—comforting yet refined. You can immediately tell this is a kitchen that values tradition as much as excellence. This restaurant is truly one of Benidorm’s best-kept secrets—a hidden gem that deserves far more recognition. Whether you’re a local or visiting the area, this is a place you should actively seek out. Superb food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere make it an experience you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food can be found here! Was not sure where to go but read the reviews for here and was not disappointed. There was so much food we had to take a bag home as it was too good to throw away! Authentic flavours, good vibes and friendly and quiet atmosphere. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something new.

Would like to just start with the atmosphere. They have no say where they are located. The chairs and tables are dated. Okay said it. The food is authentic and amazing. Service is friendly and on point. You won't be disappointed with the portion size. Fairly priced 🤠

A bit on the quieter side which is a nice change. Cocktails are second to none, high quality burgers with huge portions. Well worth a visit. Jorge was extremely friendly and looked after us

We had an absolutely fantastic lunch at La Fachada today. Michelle started with a bottle of Alberino white wine and bottled water, both excellent and very reasonably priced. For the main course, we chose the 35-day dry-aged sirloin steak, and it was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. It was cooked to absolute perfection – thick, round and incredibly tender, more like a top-quality fillet steak than the sirloin we’re used to in the UK. The flavour from the charcoal grill was outstanding. We shared the crispy wafer dessert with citrus cream and salted dulce de leche, which was the perfect way to finish the meal. It was beautifully presented, light and absolutely delicious. The service was friendly, attentive and welcoming throughout, making the whole experience feel relaxed and genuinely authentic. The total bill came to just €81, including the bottle of wine and water, which was exceptional value considering the outstanding quality of the food. If you’re looking for an authentic Spanish restaurant in Benidorm serving superb food at excellent prices, La Fachada is an absolute gem. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and can highly recommend it. I recommend booking though, as we were really lucky to get a table for Two as a walk in!

One of the best restaurants in Benidorm. Food quality, best attendace. A good place to good and enjoy a good lunch
Alumine Bellone★★★★★
We first tried to visit this restaurant about six months ago, but it was so packed that we couldn’t even get a table. This time, we were smart enough to make a reservation well in advance—and it was absolutely worth it. This is a 5 out of 5 star restaurant. The food is exquisite; not a single dish disappointed us. We ordered something similar to a Russian salad, the octopus, chicken with an Asian-inspired sauce, fish and dessert. Every plate was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and perfectly balanced. If you’re looking for a place that consistently delivers outstanding food, this restaurant is worth every visit.

What a wonderful gem of a restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced for such good quality. We shared the octopus on truffle mash which I highly recommend it was delicious and a ceaser salad to start. Both of which were delicious. For our mains 3 had the Lamb shoulder which fell off the bone it was so tender and tasty. I had the Iberico Secratio pork which was absolutely delicious. Very generous portion sizes. Wonderful restaurant and would definitely recommend. We will be back on our next visit.
Rizvan S★★★★★
Great little restaurant in the old town. We had beef carpacio, buratta, and the truffles artichokes as starter and the red tuna tataki and lamb shoulder for mains. It was all fabulous. The service was great. Would definitely recommend it to anybody.

Beautiful restaurant, decor and lighting is perfect. Lovely and cool, not too cold. The waiter, Ricardo, was very attentive, he made the experience wonderful. All of the staff were great. We had a cocktail which was delicious (pina colada and old fashion). Food was literally out of this world!!! We will 100% be back when we return to Benidorm!

We celebrated our anniversary here and it was the best one spent so far! It is beautifully designed inside. Our waiter Bryan was attentive and engaged. Great service overall, a lot of jokes and the saxophonist played incredibly well and would walk around and engage with the customers. Besides the service and great atmosphere, the food was delicious! We really love carpaccio and this one was not only beautiful to look at but very tasteful. As well as the taco tuna which we had as starters. For our main dish we had pork and lamb, also recommended! Our desert was cheesecake and the french toast. If you don’t like gargazola like taste then we wouldn’t recommend the cheesecake. We also recommend visiting the rooftop bar, Selvático, as well, to finish the night. Overall a great find and we hope to visit it again!

We visited this restaurant on April 23rd and had the seven-course tasting menu, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Everything exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, each dish thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The cocktails were equally impressive-perfectly balanced and full of flavor. What made the evening especially remarkable was the level of service. It was, without a doubt, the best dining experience we’ve ever had. The staff were incredibly attentive and genuinely caring. They noticed that I have a nut allergy and took extra precautions to ensure my safety. I have never felt this level of care and attention in any restaurant before. This place sets a new standard for hospitality. We left feeling not only satisfied but genuinely impressed and grateful. Highly recommended ?

Brian was simply the best waiter ever. His experience and service was good. We felt at home and he made us feel at home. I celebrated my birthday at Exotico and Brian really made me feel special. Would totally recommend Exotico if you visit Benidorm. The food is fenomenal.

This restaurant is located in a hotel on the first floor. Super cool concept and good music. We were informed that they have shows every Saturday on the stage which makes me want to come back to see what it’s like but on the day we went, Friday, there was no show. Service was good, it took a while to get our order in and the time between the final dishes was VERY long I’m afraid. We still had a good time and were attended often. Our waiter, Alex, was super good and attentive and the Argentinian guy that I’m afraid I didn’t catch the name of was super welcoming and interesting to speak with. All in all service was fine but the walkie talkies seemed very distracting when trying to get the attention of the waiters in comparison to how many staff there actually were. Either way when we were attended it was always with a smile and they even organized a birthday song for my friends birthday. The food was the let down, the bread and olive oil is suuuuper good! We loved it! The steak tartare was alright, tasted mostly of pickles but the bone marrow helped the dish a lot. The risotto was probably the best dish of the evening, a bit al dente but nice flavor and texture, we all enjoyed it. The secreto was a let down being a bit over done, the demi glaze helped the dish a lot, the peanuts on top was a nice touch. The solomillo was alright aswell but the mushroom sauce did not have a alot of flavor but the steak itself was fine. The star of the main dishes was actually the sides, the sweet potato was incredible, super rich and amazing and the vegetables were also amazing. Mushrooms was a great compliment to the meat dishes. Finally we had the dulce de leche cheese cake which was also incredible. All in all I would come back, service did a lot for us and we are appreciative of that

The quality of the food is amazing. But even better was the service, the host made us feel at home and explained all the dishes very well. At the end he served us some nice ice cream from the house with a liqueur. We enjoyed the eggplant with goat cheese and the arroz negro a lot. We definitely recommend this place.
Jose Ponce★★★★★
Amazing restaurant, possibly the last of its kind in Benidorm. All of the dishes were superbly executed and, in addition to that, some almost forgotten local dishes. This was rounded up with a thought through wine selection and an amazing host which makes you feel at home from the start. A must visit for anyone spending more than a few hours in Benidorm. Get away from the crowded places and enjoy some solid cooking. We will definitely be back.

AVOID. The was going to be a great venue based on the reviews. 120 Euros spent on rubbish food. The lobster 🦞 was supposed to serve 2 people but was barely enough for one person in a sea of burnt rice. The octopus was enough for one person & the melon dish was sparse. Add one tiny beer 🍺 & a bottle of water to. A fish & chip shop could do better
Serge Klimov★★★★☆
**A Hidden Gem Despite Its Quirks – 4/5 Stars** Ducado in Benidorm surprised us in the best possible way. Nestled in the heart of the English neighborhood where pulsing music fills the streets, this restaurant doesn't make the greatest first impression. The exterior and location might make you hesitate, and stepping inside won't immediately change your mind – the décor feels more casual family diner than upscale establishment, reminiscent of a Maine lobster shack rather than fine dining. But don't let any of this deter you. The food is genuinely excellent. Every dish we tried was beautifully prepared and delicious – absolutely no complaints on that front. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, and the quality speaks for itself. However, the service was inconsistent, earning about a 6/10 from us. Our welcome was warm and promising, but as dinner progressed, attentiveness faded noticeably. Our wine glasses sat empty most of the evening, with the waiter only refilling them once. Most frustratingly, requesting the bill felt like ordering another course – it arrived slower than our main dishes had. Despite the average ambiance and service hiccups, Ducado delivers where it truly matters: outstanding food. If you can overlook the boisterous location and unpretentious décor, you'll discover a restaurant worth visiting for the cuisine alone.

We came here to enjoy a paella dinner, and it was absolutely worth it! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the paella was outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We had a wonderful evening with family and truly enjoyed every moment. Great food, excellent service, and a lovely ambiance. Highly recommended if you're looking for an authentic and memorable dining experience! We will definitely come back.

We absolutely love this place. We went twice. The service is fantastic. Staff are warm and friendly. The food is incredible. On our first visit we were a group of 6. We started with the Spanish ham, octopus which was one of the best I’ve ever had it was cooked to absolute perfection, and the pork bites - wow. We had steaks for our main which were delicious. I would have loved to have tried their suckling pig or paella but I hope to be back one day. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

We liked the place very much. We used Google to lactate a seafood restaurant, and this one was a Bulls eye hit. There were not many people inside, but It was early evening and in one hour the place was full. We liked the food a lot. Special thanks to the personnel. They were very friendly, with sense of humour, they really paid attention, proposed great options and combinations of food and drinks. But also our little kid was surrounded by attention. Really appreciate. Highly recommend the place. We wish the bars nearby would be less noisy, but it’s Benidorm and loud dance music is everywhere.

Excellent food and service. I would recommend trying the lasaña which I think was the best I've ever had. Also the atmosphere was nice since the restaurant wasn't right at the beach that can be quite busy.

Last year was good. Sad to say our second visit in 2025 wasn’t great. The croquettas were nice, and good value. Pizza looked like it had been cooked on a radiator, and was very salty. Lasagna, was ok, better than the pizza. But the worst part was being forced to reuse cutlery and glassware between courses. It’s clearly still a popular restaurant, just not quite as impressive as I remember.
Neil Catley★★★★★
A lovely intimate Italian with a great selection of authentic dishes. The staff were charming and polite. Our daughter's Carbonara was "the best I've ever had", and our pizzas were excellent. Highly recommended, and extremely cheap compared to what we'd pay for similar in the UK.

This restaurant is a gem. The food is both delicious and inventive, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere charming. It’s clear that the chef has put a great deal of thought into crafting each dish. The take on the almuerzo valenciano was particularly interesting, especially the bocadillo component. The fish served among the starters was cooked to perfection. I also especially enjoyed the flan with white chocolate and miso. Service was timely and efficient throughout the meal. I will definitely be back.

Just left La Fava and can only say this is by far the best cooking I have come across in Benidorm. All the dishes are imaginative and beautifully presented , I’d even say they are pretty. When you have a chef that cooks with his heart coupled with a lot of talent and intelligence, the results will be exceptional, as they are here. The only problem for us was that we over ate, which is forgivable as the menu is stuffed with so many dishes you want to try. One dish of pork and tuna eaten like a taco was really excellent. Another tuna dish was melt in the mouth gorgeous. Oxtail dish was great, so soft and really deep flavour. There were too many highlights to list here but the cooked cheesecake must get a mentioned. It was just to die for, so creamy, rich but light, sublime. The staff are very welcoming and the chef comes out and explains the menu in English, which was much appreciated as my Spanish is one notch below terrible. Definitely worth a visit if you’re on holiday or live here.

A small restaurant with lovely experience! The service is very nice, menu amazing with a big selection of different dishes. Grilled octopus is amazing, the best I had. Same goes for bakes sea bass. Prices are relatively low, considering the quality and location, I expected more and was pleasantly surprised. Top recommendations!

We had a great experience here and would definitely recommend it. My boyfriend ordered the burger and absolutely loved it. I tried some as well and it was delicious. I ordered the carbonara, which was full of flavour and tasted incredibly fresh. I also had the watermelon mojito, which was really refreshing and perfect alongside the meal. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout. Overall, a lovely meal with great food and excellent service. We’d happily come back again.

The food was good and the atmosphere was really nice. We did have to wait quite a while for our food (around an hour), as a larger group was seated before us. It would have been a nice touch to offer something small, like nuts or a light snack, while waiting, especially as we were quite hungry. Other than that, everything was lovely.

Had 2 great meals here with my family over the summer. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is really tasty and will satisfy all appetites. Not a huge menu but what they have is very well presented and full of flavour. Sea Bass was incredibly enjoyable. Stefania was absolutely amazing! We didn't know how to use the menu online or even know what we wanted, she was so patient & extremely helpful, she is a credit to the restaurant. I'm so glad we stuck with it as the food was outstanding! We had cocktails from the 2 for €12 euros, my husband had the trio tapas with 2 sangrias & I had the patatas bravas & bread with alioloi. Everything was perfect & huge portions. The location is fantastic with a beautiful sea view & a lovely atmosphere to top it all off. I've been to benidorm on many occasions & never been here, but I will definitely return each time I visit. I'd highly recommend this beautiful place 🤗

La Mejillonera never disappoints. It’s a local favorite for a reason! Even though there is almost always a line, don’t let that discourage you—the queue moves incredibly fast. The service is impressively quick and efficient. The waitstaff really work their tails off to make sure everyone is taken care of without feeling rushed. As for the food, everything is absolutely delicious and fresh. It’s one of those rare spots that stays consistent year after year; it simply never fails. If you’re looking for great seafood and top-tier service in a lively atmosphere, this is the place to go!

We had an excellent experience at La Mejillonera Restaurante. This is a truly high-quality paella restaurant with exceptionally kind and attentive staff. The service is characterized by friendliness, speed, and genuine attention to guests. We ordered the plant based paella, and it was absolutely brilliant. As a vegan, I personally found the smell of the seafood dishes a little disturbing at times, but that is naturally part of this type of restaurant. Sitting on the terrace made it perfectly manageable, and the quality of the food more than made up for it. The paella itself was outstanding.

I highly recommend it to anyone visiting and tasting for an authentic and memorable seafood feast!

I’ll be honest, for the price I was a bit sceptical about the steak, so much so that I ordered two because I assumed they’d be pretty small. 😂 Asked for them blue and they were cooked absolutely perfectly, properly seared on the outside and beautifully blue through the middle. Really good flavour, tender, and far better than I expected for the money. Safe to say ordering two probably wasn’t necessary!

I came here after reading all the great reviews, and wow — the food really is amazing! Everything was full of flavour and so tasty. The prawn starter was honestly the best I’ve ever had, and it’s hard to find good prawns in Benidorm. So glad I decided to come here — highly recommend!

Probably could have been four stars but was so disappointed it was a brutal 33° inside our stay was unbearable. Booked 4 month in advance and they didn't have the air on. Service was excellent and the food was a good value. The fillet wasn't so great but everything on the 2 person grill and the fried feta was very good.

We were told to go here by another restaurant. It proved to be a great recommendation. The team looked after us really well, even running after me to give me my jacket that I left behind!! I had fillet steak surf and turf, it was perfect and my wife had a schnitzel that she raved about. Thank you team Gusto for a memorable meal that finished off our short Benidorm break perfectly.

Just had a lovely meal. Very happy to help with gluten free food. My friends have all had fancy meals too. It’s worth asking them if they have a table, they prefer you to book in advance but we asked and they were happy to accommodate us.

Arrived around 8:30 to find we didn’t need to book for that time so got a table straight away. No Sangria on the menu but they said no problem we will make you some and was the best Sangria I’ve had in Benidorm. I ordered a well done fillet and it was perfect, the sautéed potatoes were also lovely. The cheesecake was also great, we all had a lovely time and the food was excellent. Service was great and they were very friendly, they put a sparkler in my daughter’s dessert which she loved. A great night out and we will defo be returning before we go home, I can highly recommend this restaurant but you need to book if you want a table between 6 & 8:30.

Excellent food. Extremely pleasant staff. Possibly the best fillet steak I've ever had. House red wine was very good as well. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

After being turned away from several fully booked places, we stumbled upon the Vagabond restaurant. It’s a boutique spot with just a few tables, where the skilled hands of a French chef and his assistant prepare excellent food. The starters were outstanding, with special praise for the avocado with shrimp. For the main course, we had salmon and pork fillet in a redcurrant and strawberry sauce. The flavor combinations were superb. For dessert, I would highlight the lemon cheesecake, which is baked and therefore light on the stomach. Because the place is small and cozy, we ended up having a great conversation with other guests. You can truly taste that the chef cooks with heart and experience.

If you enjoy good food, this is a must go place in Benidorm. Every meal is stunning! Service impeccable! Highly recommend… Mussels were best I’ve tasted and the pork with apple I can still taste now it was so nice. It was that tasty I didn’t get a chance to take a photo. You won’t be disappointed if you go.

From the moment you step into this charming French restaurant, you're greeted not only by the inviting aroma of exquisite dishes but also by the warmth and passion of the remarkable bosses who run the place. Their dedication shines through every detail, creating an atmosphere that's both welcoming and elegant. The food here is nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish is a masterpiece, blending authentic French flavours with a creative touch that surprises and delights the palate What truly sets this restaurant apart is the personal care and attention the bosses provide. Their genuine love for French cuisine and hospitality transforms a simple meal into an unforgettable experience. They know their guests by name, recommend perfect wine pairings, and ensure that everyone feels like part of their extended family. If you’re looking for the best French food paired with exceptional service and heartfelt leadership, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. It’s more than dining—it’s a celebration of great taste and genuine kindness.

Excellent place. The food is very tasty. The desserts are delightful, especially the passion fruit tartlets.

Okay, this place is beautiful. First of all, book a table. It really packed out around 8pm & full of Spanish groups which is always the sign we look for right? The service was relaxed but faultless. Super friendly & gave good recommendations on the quantities & selected dishes for tapas. We tried a good selection, but the standout dish was the cod. It was to die for. How the chef made cod taste like monkfish I have no idea but I'm happy they did. Value for money is also 👌🏻👌🏻 for 2 of us, we had a drink each & plenty of food & it was €30 a head. It's places like this that remind me why I like Spain. Sure there's British food everywhere in Benidorm but if you're looking for a taste of real Spain in amongst the touristy town, Rita Esquina Gastronómica is the place for you.

Practical Tips for Dining Out in Benidorm

Choosing the right restaurant is only half the experience. Understanding local dining customs, timing, and menu reading can dramatically improve the quality of your meals and help you avoid common tourist disappointments. The following recommendations are based on years of local observation and feedback from regular visitors.

Make a reservation for dinner after 9:00 pm. If a restaurant is worth eating at, it will be busy. Popular places in the old town fill up quickly between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm, especially on weekends. A quick phone call or WhatsApp message in Spanish or English is usually enough to secure a table.

Look for the “Menú del Día” at lunchtime. This fixed-price lunch menu is the best value in Spain. For roughly €12 to €18, you can enjoy three courses, bread, and a drink. It is offered on weekdays and is an excellent way to try high-end restaurants at a fraction of their evening prices.

Walk at least three streets back from the beachfront. Prices drop and quality rises almost immediately once you leave the first line of restaurants facing the Levante and Poniente promenades. The old town and the areas around Calle Santo Domingo are far more reliable for authentic food.

Order rice dishes in advance if possible. Traditional paella, arroz a banda, and other rice dishes are cooked to order and can take 30 to 45 minutes. Many top rice restaurants will ask you to pre-order when you book, which saves you a long wait and guarantees availability.

Check if the bread and olives are complimentary. In many traditional Spanish restaurants, a small plate of olives or alioli with bread is brought to the table automatically. This is not always free. If you do not want it, politely say “no, gracias” when it arrives to avoid an unexpected charge on the bill.

Use cash in smaller tapas bars. While most restaurants in Benidorm accept credit cards, some family-run tapas bars and market stalls still operate on a cash-only basis. Carrying €20 to €30 in cash is a practical precaution, particularly in the old town.

Benidorm rewards curious eaters. The city is compact enough that you can walk from a traditional tapas bar in the old town to a modern seafront restaurant in under twenty minutes, yet the variety between those two points is remarkable.

Do not be afraid to step away from the main tourist corridors and follow the sound of Spanish conversation. That is where you will find the dishes, flavors, and hospitality that keep people coming back year after year.
