Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a city where urban energy and Atlantic serenity meet, and its shopping scene reflects that blend beautifully. From polished high-street boulevards to bohemian backstreets and gleaming modern malls, the capital of Gran Canaria offers a retail experience for every kind of visitor.
Whether you are hunting for Spanish fashion, local delicacies, artisan crafts, or international brands, you will find it within a compact and walkable centre. The city’s mild climate means shopping here often feels like a leisurely stroll rather than a rushed errand.
Many of the best shopping areas are woven into the historic fabric of the city, meaning you can combine retail therapy with sightseeing. You might turn a corner from a 15th-century cathedral and find yourself on a street lined with contemporary boutiques and inviting cafés.
The local shopping culture is relaxed and welcoming, with many stores observing the traditional Spanish siesta. Planning your route around opening hours will help you make the most of your time and avoid closed shutters in the early afternoon.
For visitors, the tax-free shopping scheme is a major advantage. Non-EU residents can claim back IVA (VAT) on eligible purchases, making fashion, electronics, and gifts even more attractive.
This guide focuses on the most rewarding shopping areas in the city, from bustling pedestrian zones to elegant indoor centres. Each area has its own personality, price point, and product mix, so you can choose the spots that best match your style and shopping list.
Below, you will find the essential places to explore, followed by practical advice to shop like a local and get the best value during your visit.

Great shopping mall at the end of the beach. We wish we knew sooner about this place, but unfortunately we found it one day before we left. The city has almost no shops unfortunately. You can find many shops inside the building, including clothing, shoes, jewelry and a floor full of restaurants, including KFC, McDonald's etc. Highly recommended if you are staying in Las Palmas.

Very good shopping mall at the end of the beach. Found myself good hoodie for the chilly weather. Definitely recommend the visit

I visited Centro Comercial Las Arenas in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and was pleasantly surprised. The mall is large, modern, and well-designed. It offers a great variety of stores, including popular chain brands and smaller boutiques. There are also plenty of restaurants, making it a nice place to take a break and enjoy a meal. I really liked the cinema and the spacious terraces with beautiful views, which add to the charm of the place. It can get crowded during peak hours, and finding a parking spot might take some time, but overall, it’s a great place for shopping and spending free time.

Nice mall, for such an small island, lots of restaurants and stores to choose from 😀 and best movie theaters on the island of G canaria.

Nice shopping Center in general. Good selection of shops.
BUT: there is no map - neither an interactive nor a static one. There's an info stand where you can ask. But just one in the entire center and it's often unattended. So strange...

Close to the cruise port and lots of name brands. Not too many choices for souvenirs. A nice place to walk around and burn some time.

The shopping complex was beautiful, the ground floor was full of almost all the shops, but the next floors had many empty shops. The atmosphere was Christmas in December and everywhere in the shopping complex was full of beautiful Christmas signs. There are canteens and restaurants on the upper floors. The upper floors have a good and interesting view of the port, which is spectacular. Especially if the cruise ships stop there, they have interesting views.

Large multi storey enclosed air conditioned shopping centre. Sports clothing, pet supplies ladies and gents fashion store and now thankfully a comprehensive supermarket to top up on snacks and drinks mixers. Fast food on top level. Working escalators to all floor as well as lifts available they have toilet facilities. Empty units available. Wide shallow slope ramp from road close to cruise ship security Entrance/Exit. No public seating inside. Extravagant Christmas tree on entrance. Overall clean. But looks dated in style.

Quite big mall, with lots of options from shops, toys, perfumes, clothes l, shoes, etc. Not many options for food, but there is a burger king for a quick meal. Quite modern building and clean. If you are coming with the bus you might need to walk a fair bit to cross the highway under the bridge. It's like 15-20 minute walk if you are dropped by the side of the highway.

Best selection of bikinis and shoes on the island. I also got an amazing Hispanitas bag that was not available in other shops.
Not crowded and spacious.
Hello House★★☆☆☆
Ok, it is a good mall with Air Conditioning. Bad news: it has near zero for seats. You can count on your hand how many seats they provide for public traffic. For the size of the mall it is pretty bad there is no where to sit down that doesn't cost money. Bus connection is horrible to this mall and requires walking through a very dangerous parking lot from the only stop available outside the mall. Pedestrian access to this mall from the surrounding community and other bus stops in the Jinamar Valley below is not safely possible. If they fixed the seating issues, bus and pedestrian access connection issues by maybe inviting and having the city bus and local islands buses drop off and pick up at the front door then it would be very nice. If I owned this mall I would look at converting the amazing terrace spaces and views to seniors and family rental housing or a public walking garden or just something then a giant unused concrete terrace space. Probably a few government grants around for this. Could also fill the area with medical or dental centers? Despite this mall being on the edge of the most densely populated valley in the EU it has absolutely horrible connectivity to the local community and city unless you have a personal vehicle or taxi budget. Getting here and away by vehicle can be a traffic nightmare on busy days. To attempt to walk here you place your life into your own hands at the amazingly poor sidewalk connections and very dangerous very fast roadways. To bicycle here is definitely not recommended as vehicle traffic is very fast and dangerous if light traffic or clogged roads if heavy. Sure the connection issues may not be all El Mirador Malls fault. The mall should have some serious tax clout to tell the local authorities to do better and fix the pedestrian access issues better. Highly recommend door to door bus service and better sidewalks and bicycle connection to and from the community. This is a Good Mall. It would be a Better Mall if safer to access it without a car and there was a place to sit down inside the mall.

During our stay on Gran Canaria we wanted to do a bit of shopping and found the options in Puerto rico a bit limited. So after looking at some reviews, we decided to take the 1 hour drive to Las Palmas to visit this shopping mall. It was definitely better than the one in Puerto Rico and looked very cool with its architectural design but for shopping, it was a bit of a let down. Maybe we are spoilt by mainland cities and towns in Europe but we just found that most of the shops (including big brands) were a bit small meaning a limited range on offer. I would say that if you are staying locally, then it is worth a visit but wouldn't suggest that it makes sense to travel across the island for it. Does offer free parking though.

🙂 Nice Mall. Free Parking. Open, fresh air circulation, clean. Carrefour, Asia Hogar, Cash Converters, McDonalds are a few of our regular stops. Has just about every shop you would expect to find in a Mall so makes for great selection. Less franchise and more mom + pop styles of selection throughout which is a fresh change too. Food court inside and out. No WiFi however. Well WiFi but it depends per shop. Handy by city buses, Global island bus routes and car. Dedicated & well connected and sign posted bicycle lanes slowly making their way here too.

It's an attractive open air mall of mostly eateries. It has a large pond with water plants and fish in its center. My favorite restaurant is the Ethiopian restaurant, Africa, on the second floor. Great vegan platters of food, but not cheap. Other than that, not much of interest except maybe Budare, but it was closed the day we visited..

Good service, good food and really nice atmosphere. I cant do anything but rate it a 5/5 (!!)

It's a good outlet shopping centre, with many brands. Most of the place is on a terrace (as the name implies), so be aware of the weather.
I didn't find the prices to be very different from the non-outlet ones, but I guess you could find a bargain every once in a while.
The parking lot is huge so there's no problem to find parking even when the whole island seems to be there.
Hello House★★★★☆
🙂 Very good mall. Loses a star as the bus connections are horrible and walking here from even the bus stop you take your life into your hands trying to cross the outside roads safely. Area around the mall has garbage blowing all over the place. The garbage is maybe not the malls fault but certainly is the fault of the people who travel to the mall and of course the people who the mall pays large amounts of taxes too to ensure the garbage is collected and the crosswalks, sidewalks and pedestrian safety to and from the mall is correct. 2nd floor of the Mall is a ghost town - maybe think about making this area into condos / elderly living care / medical care areas.
Patrick “Patte” Zielinski★★★★★
A very solid selection of "outlet-shops" as well as a good variety of restaurants. If you're looking for a specific clothing item from a specific brand it's likely you'll find it here for a good price.

Mogan Mall is a fantastic shopping destination right in the heart of Puerto Rico town. It’s super easy to walk to if you're staying nearby, and it has a great mix of high-end brands, food, and entertainment.
Key highlights:
The Dancing Fountain: The main attraction is the huge water fountain in the plaza. It’s an amazing photo spot, especially at night when it puts on a colorful light display with changing water shows.
Great Dining & Sports: There is a fantastic variety of restaurants with outdoor seating so you can soak up the atmosphere. Some of the venues also feature large screen TVs showing live sports.
Top-Tier Supermarket: Inside the mall, you'll find what is easily the best supermarket in the area for both prices and variety.
Free Underground Parking: Coming by car is completely stress-free thanks to the free underground parking garage, which offers quick escalator access directly up to the shopping floors.
Visiting at night is an absolute must when the whole plaza lights up!

Great mall with nice varieties of stores for kids and adults too; some of the stores are Primark, Mayoral, and many more. Great food stores close by too. I liked that was open on Sundays as many malls are closed Sundays in Gran Canaria. Has a nice vibe, big enough and easy and free parking.
The only thing they need to work on, is better and cleaner toilets and make sure they have soap and paper.

Mogan Mall is an excellent choice for those seeking a modern shopping experience in the south of Gran Canaria, ideal for combining with a bite to eat in a pleasant setting. The shopping center is modern and beautifully designed. Its open-air concept makes it a pleasant place to stroll and shop, often with mountain views. There's a good mix of shops, including clothing stores and other specialty stores. Dining options range from quick bites to upscale restaurants with diverse cuisines. Located in Puerto Rico, it's easily accessible and offers ample, often free, parking.

Nice store. Great perfume section. Not so good for bags or shoes but still decent. Didn't look atuch else. Overall recommend.
What I find a bit strange is that the building has almost no windows. So strange. Yeah you can use electrical lighting. But why would one build a building like that? I also imagine it to be a lot of fun in case of an evacuation during a power outage.

What can I say? El Corte Ingles is my favourite department store and this one in Mesa y Lopez did not disapoint. Dont miss the food hall and if you are lucky enough, the seasonal sales!
Bjørn Augestad★☆☆☆☆
Avoid at all cost, because of the "shop in shop" concept.
Some background: I've shopped at El Corte Ingles, ECI, since the mid nineties and it's been my absolute favourite department store until now, i.e. until they introduced the shop in shop concept.
Before, all employees worked for ECI and were more than happy to help you regardless of brand. If you wanted a new wardrobe, the same employee followed you around, helped picking items, and helped with translation if you don't speak Spanish.
What's changed? Now the "employees" work for a brand which just rents floor space from ECI (Shop in Shop, remember?). They have zero knowledge and literally zero interest in helping you if you happen to ask for something they don't have. At best, they vaguely point you at the direction of a competitor.
Here's an example from this week: I tried to find a Bermuda Shorts suitable for use at the beach, so closable pockets were a must. I took the escalator to the Pantalones department and started asking for a pair of Bermuda shorts, not being aware of the Shop In Shop concept.
First brand didn't carry it, so I went to the next brand and explained my needs. They had nothing either, but "recommended" another shop (in shop). After visiting five different brand stores on the same floor, I gave up and decided never to return.
Did I return anyway? Yes, today, to get a pair of Asics shoes. That part was easy, but of course they managed to "sell" me a 20 Euro Discount Card which, according to the clerk, "could be used anywhere except for the supermarket and some other places."
It turns out that new black ECI card was *only* usable in the clothes (Ropa) department. They fooled me twice, so that's on me, so this is my warning to you: Avoid El Corte Ingles. It's fallen so deep from former glory. Now it's just a realtor renting out floor space to over-priced brand names.
Eira Nygaard Henrichsen★★★★☆
Nice location
This shopping center offers many stories with clothes for children and adults, lots of brand clothing and has nice stores at ground floor, the Sephora could be a bit bigger with some more brands but all in all if you want a good shopping day, I definitely recommend this place!

Shopping Tips for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Understanding a few local habits and practical details will make your shopping experience smoother, more enjoyable, and often more affordable. These tips cover timing, payment, language, and the best ways to find authentic products rather than generic souvenirs.
Plan around opening hours. Most shops in Las Palmas open from around 9:30 or 10:00 to 13:30, close for a long lunch, and reopen from roughly 16:30 to 20:30. Large shopping centres and department stores, such as El Corte Inglés, often stay open continuously from morning until late evening, making them a reliable option during siesta hours.
Carry some cash and a card. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, including contactless payments, but small markets, family-run shops, and some artisan stalls may prefer cash. Keep a modest amount of euros on hand for smaller purchases, especially in traditional food shops or neighbourhood boutiques.
Ask about tax-free shopping. If you are a non-EU resident, request a Tax Free form when spending over the minimum threshold in participating stores. Present the form and your receipts at the airport before departure to claim back the IVA, which can add up to significant savings on larger purchases.
Look beyond the tourist strip. While the areas near Las Canteras beach and Santa Catalina Park are convenient, the most interesting finds are often a few streets inland. Explore streets like Triana, Mesa y López, and the smaller lanes of Vegueta to discover local designers, family businesses, and better prices.
Buy local products as gifts. Instead of generic souvenirs, look for Canarian specialties such as mojo sauces, aloe vera products, local cheeses, gofio, and wines from Gran Canaria’s own vineyards. Food markets and gourmet shops offer beautifully packaged options that travel well and give a true taste of the island.
Wear comfortable shoes. The best shopping areas in Las Palmas are highly walkable, but you will cover a lot of ground on stone-paved streets and pedestrian boulevards. Lightweight, cushioned footwear will keep you comfortable whether you are browsing for an hour or making a full day of it.
Brush up on basic Spanish phrases. Many shop assistants in central and tourist areas speak English, but a few polite words in Spanish go a long way. Simple phrases like “¿Cuánto cuesta?” (How much is it?), “¿Puedo probármelo?” (Can I try it on?), and “Gracias” will be appreciated and can make the experience more personal.
Compare prices before buying electronics or branded goods. For big-ticket items, check prices in a few different stores, especially between large department stores and independent retailers. Even with tax-free shopping, it is worth confirming that the final price is genuinely competitive before making a commitment.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria rewards shoppers who take their time and explore beyond the obvious. The mix of historic arcades, open-air commercial streets, and modern retail centres means you can easily adapt your shopping day to the weather, your energy levels, and your budget.
Whether you leave with a new outfit, a jar of artisan mojo, or simply a better feel for the city’s daily rhythm, the experience is about more than the purchases. It is a way of connecting with the local culture, one street and one shopfront at a time.
