15 Best Pizza Spots in Saint-Malo

Saint-Malo is a city of granite, sea spray, and fiercely independent Breton character. While most visitors come for the ramparts, the tides, and the ferry to England, those in the know understand that this corsair city has a deeply underrated food scene. Pizza might not be the first thing you associate with Brittany, but the combination of French culinary standards, a growing Italian influence, and the freshest Atlantic seafood has created a surprisingly vibrant pizza culture here.

Finding a great slice in Saint-Malo means understanding the geography of the city. Intra-muros, the walled old town, is packed with tourist-friendly crêperies and brasseries, but hidden among them are pizzerias serving wood-fired pies with views of cobblestone lanes. Just outside the walls, in the Paramé and Courtoisville districts, you will find the neighborhood favorites where locals go for a relaxed Friday night dinner away from the summer crowds.

The style of pizza in Saint-Malo varies significantly from place to place. Some chefs adhere strictly to Neapolitan tradition, importing double-zero flour and San Marzano tomatoes from Campania. Others embrace a more French-Italian hybrid, offering rich crème fraîche bases, locally sourced andouille sausage, or seafood toppings that reflect the city’s maritime heritage. This diversity means there is a perfect pie for every palate, whether you want a classic Margherita or something uniquely Breton.

Quality matters here. The best spots in Saint-Malo prioritize long fermentation doughs, which make the crust light, digestible, and slightly charred. You will also notice a strong commitment to sourcing, with many pizzerias highlighting the use of organic flour, AOC cheeses, and vegetables from local market gardens. This dedication to ingredients elevates the humble pizza into a genuine gastronomic experience.

Because Saint-Malo is a compact city, you can easily walk off your meal along the Plage du Sillon or the ramparts afterward. Most of the pizzerias on this list offer takeaway options as well, which is perfect for a sunset picnic on the beach. However, dining in is often worth it for the atmosphere, which ranges from cozy stone-walled cellars to bright, modern dining rooms overlooking the harbor.

To help you navigate the options, I have curated a list of the best pizza spots in Saint-Malo. These selections are based on dough quality, sauce balance, ingredient sourcing, consistency, and overall atmosphere. Whether you are a local looking for a new regular spot or a visitor craving comfort food after a day of sightseeing, this guide will point you in the right direction.

This was one of the best pizza's I had since a long time. Great taste, and a great look as well, with a small artistic thouch. Most friendly people! Looking forward to get my next pizza here again!!

Excellent pizza, so friendly and we could sit at the bar, have a Poretti and see our pizza being cooked - lovely!

Unbelievable but this is a good place to get a good pizza definitely if you're a cyclist on trip to get the food done and then go. You can find more expensive and authentic places however I think it's worth every penny.

Unfortunately, the pizzeria didn’t serve the dinning inside, we took pizza for take away. Have to wait ca 1.5h, but it worth it. Very delicious and fresh.

Just had to provide a review! The high ratings with the most reviews for Italian restaurants in Saint Malo is as true as it can for me. Seems like where the locals go, they were packed on a Thursday. Make sure you make a reservation. I had the pizze avec tartufo, it was delicious. I could have finished it in one seating but I wanted to savour it so I took the rest home and then the homemade tiramisu, mamma mio! The service was really good as busy as they were. will definitely go back at least 1 more time. Thank you, Bella Mio!
Jakob Schuhmacher★★★★★
Amazing home made italian food and very good service. We would absolutely recommend it!

Great service and very accommodating! Loved the food… bruschetta was exceptional!
Lotten Lehto★★★★★
Cozy atmosphere in a calm neighborhood corner. Needed to take a break from French food. Italian food from Bello mio did just the trick!
Elizabeth Miller★★☆☆☆
Good food. but they were not particularly nice to us as english speakers (even though we speak an intermediate french level and did our best). We were the only table in sight with a €5 glass bottle of water that we didn’t ask for - they didn’t bother asking if we wanted to pay for it, and they acted inconvenienced by us generally. Maybe more of a spot for locals.

Absolutely delicious Italian foods, served with love. There is something for everyone on the card and don't forget to check the daily menu. We tried different things for the menu on several days, and we already booked for tomorrow. Be sure to reserve your table early or ask for a reservation and take a 30 minute tour around the streets. It is also possible to order for take away. If you are in St. Malo and don't like the tourists mainstream restaurants, this is the place you have to go.

Amazing pizza and lasagne. Meaty. Friendly. Fast. Good wine. Vinyl place mats. 👍

Their pizza was pretty decent. The cheese on the pizza was really good. The dough was a bit strange as there was some loose flour. The tomatoes were excellent. The service was quick, the staff was business-like, but it was a busy evening so it's understandable. I enjoyed my meal.

I’ve been to Saint-Malo for the first time and I couldn’t resist the smell and look of the pizza when I was walking next to this place. So I decided to stop by and try it. It wasn’t a surprise because I didn’t doubt about the taste which was excellent! The stuff is very nice as well and the service was fast. I definitely recommend!

We ate here on our first night in Sant-Malo and the welcome and food were so fabulous that we came back on our last evening too! Between us we had mains of delicious pizzas and pasta, amazing starters and stunning puddings (wow, the limoncello baba). The service was impeccable. I recommend booking ahead.

I had an amazing experience at Little Italy in Saint Malo. Their pizza is absolutely incredible, so good that giving it 5 stars doesn’t feel like enough. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is fantastic. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic, delicious pizza.

What a lovely little restaurant. The staff are very polite, attentive and have excellent English. The pizzas were by far the best we have eaten and so so fresh!! Although it is a walk from the old town, it is worth it. I would highly recommend a visit!! ❤️

We stopped in here for lunch on our visit to the walled in city. It was raining day in February, it was very quiet. The restaurant was also not busy. We split pizza and a salad for lunch. They were both very good. The pizza came out hot and was tasty. The sevice was good. If you are trying to come there is parking all around there is also a garage. From what we could observe it was all paid parking.
Amanda Amelia77★★☆☆☆
Went what we thought was safe and ordered a Spaghetti Bolognese and Lasagna Alforno. Both very bland. They looked the part but were severely lacking in taste. We were given grated parmesan and salt and pepper which we used profusely making the food a lot more palatable. The food was hot which was nice. The staff are very polite and courteous. The place is cramped in the front section where we were.
Ian Deacon★★★★☆
My wife and I had Risotto de fruit de mer which was a special and was slight above average. With drinks €46 which wasn’t too bad. Service was good

Food was average. Service was not very good. Very loud italian music. Not family friendly. There are far better options up the road!

A Italian style restaurant on the Esplanade of St Servan. Excellent food serving a wide choice of foods including sea food, pizzas and meats. We have visited a couple of times when passing through and we have not been disappointed. Very popular restaurant so worth booking for busy holidays and weekends.
Judy Spink★★★★★
We had an excellent meal, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The seafood salad was delicious and a generous portion, the steak was also great. All washed down with a bottle of cider, fantastic 😊
Andy★★★★★
The seafood dishes here are superb and great value for money. Will definitely return when next in St Malo.
Emma Heyes★☆☆☆☆
Awful place - one to avoid! We waited over an hour for one meal, a further 10 mins for the other 3 pizzas. Shouldn’t be that difficult to make a pizza in an Italian restaurant should it? Everyone else around us was eating & I noticed customers arriving after us were paying the bill before we’d even had our meals. When the food did arrive it was cold, overcooked and I suspect previously frozen. No apology or even acknowledgment from the staff that we’d had to ask 3 times for our meals.

My wife and I were looking for somewhere nearby to eat on a Thursday night. We noticed the positive reviews and thought we'd give this place a try. We sat in the garden which was very quiet. The food was lovely and quite reasonably priced. I'd certainly recommend. The pizza I had was lovely.

Very good pizza & real friendly service. I had an excellent vegetarian pizza with eggplant and courgette and enjoyed it till the end . The desert was not the same level but still good (after all it's a pizza place). A lot of folk were ordering for takeaway and didn't have to wait long.
Mark Harrison★★★☆☆
Wide range of pizza toppings. Pasta was fairly standard though - nothing special. No children's portions either which meant both our kids only are half of their pizza. Wasn't offered a box to take it away in either... Waiters were friendly enough though.

Pizza was delicious but the pesto pasta could be much better. (The sauce was quite dried…) Their artisan ice cream is excellent! Overall, friendly staff, reservation is recommended as the place is quite small with limited seats.

Almost fully booked but we got a table for this clearly very popular restaurant! Staff were excellent as was the food. Great value and would certainly visit again.

A small hidden gem near Saint-Malo, highly recommended! Client service is top notch with the friendly personnel, we were warmly invited in, even though we didn’t have a reservation. We tried out the delicious and well-baked pizza of the week for April 11, 2023 which consisted of a tomato base with Fior di Latte mozzarella, arugula, ham, cherry tomatoes, and balsamic cream. For dessert we tried the flavorsome Tiramisu and Panna Cotta. You can pay with cash or via a payment terminal. There’s a few spaces of parking in-front of the restaurant, but there are enough parking spaces in the nearby streets.
Rick Hurenkamp★★★★★
Would recommend this restaurant. Nice food, and got a discount by staying at the B&B across the road.

Tips for Enjoying Pizza in Saint-Malo

A little local knowledge can turn a good pizza night into a great one, especially in a city where dining habits and peak times differ from the larger French metropolises. Understanding the rhythm of the city, the local toppings, and the logistical quirks of the old town will help you maximize your meal. Here are a few practical tips to keep in mind before you set out on your culinary tour of Saint-Malo’s pizza scene.

Book ahead during the summer months. Saint-Malo is one of Brittany’s most popular tourist destinations, and the restaurants inside the walls (intra-muros) fill up incredibly fast from June to September. If you have your heart set on a specific pizzeria, call ahead or book online a day or two in advance. Walking in at 8 PM on a Saturday in August will almost certainly result in a long wait.

Embrace the seafood toppings. You are in a historic port city, so do not be afraid to try a pizza topped with fresh mussels, shrimp, or even smoked salmon. Many local pizzerias use crème fraîche instead of tomato sauce for these maritime pies, which pairs beautifully with the briny flavors of the Atlantic. It is a distinctly Saint-Malo experience you won’t easily find elsewhere.

Check the opening hours carefully. Many independent pizzerias in Saint-Malo close for one or two days a week, often Sunday or Monday, and some stop service between lunch and dinner. Additionally, kitchens in France generally stop taking orders earlier than tourists from some countries might expect, usually around 9:30 PM or 10:00 PM on weekdays.

Consider taking your pizza to the beach. If the weather is clear, skip the crowded dining room and order takeaway. The Plage du Sillon and Plage de Bon-Secours are just a short walk from most central pizzerias. Just remember to bring a blanket, and be mindful of the seagulls—they are bold and have excellent aim.

Don’t skip the house wine. While craft beer is gaining ground in Brittany, the house red or rosé at a French-Italian pizzeria is usually selected to complement the food. Trust the owner’s recommendation; they often source small-batch wines that are far better than the generic imports you might find at a bar.

Saint-Malo proves that you don’t need to be in Naples to find a truly exceptional pizza. The city’s unique blend of Breton pride, French culinary technique, and Italian tradition creates a food scene that feels both familiar and refreshingly local. Whether you choose a simple wood-fired Margherita or a bold seafood creation, the quality of the dough and the care of the pizzaiolos here are undeniable.

After your meal, take a slow walk along the ramparts or listen to the tide come in. In Saint-Malo, the best dining experiences are never just about the food—they are about the salt air, the granite walls, and the sense that you have discovered something special. Bon appétit.
