15 Best Hotels in Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a city that seems to have been poured into a glass and left to breathe. While the surrounding vineyards often steal the spotlight, the city itself offers a seductive blend of 18th-century grandeur, a revitalized riverfront, and a culinary scene that rivals the quality of its cellars. Whether you are here to trace the history of the wine trade or simply soak in the golden limestone architecture, the right base can transform your trip from a simple visit into a full sensory experience.

Choosing where to stay in Bordeaux often depends on the rhythm you want to keep. Some travelers crave the electric buzz of the historic triangle, where trams glide past neoclassical facades and café terraces spill onto cobblestones. Others prefer the quiet elegance of the Chartrons district, an ancient wine merchant quarter that now houses some of the city’s most stylish boutiques and bistros.

The city’s hospitality landscape has evolved dramatically in recent years. While Bordeaux has always hosted grand historic hotels, a wave of design-forward boutique properties and eco-conscious urban retreats has redefined the standard. You can now sleep in a former wine cellar, wake up in a minimalist designer loft, or enjoy a rooftop pool with a view of the cathedral spires.

This guide curates a selection of the finest addresses, balancing heritage with modern luxury. We have considered not only the thread count of the sheets but also the authenticity of the location, the quality of the concierge service, and the overall value. These properties are chosen because they offer something more than just a bed—they offer a gateway into the Bordeaux way of life.

From romantic weekend escapes to business trips that require seamless connectivity, the perfect accommodation is waiting for you. Below, you will find a curated list that spans opulent five-star palaces, intimate guesthouses, and cutting-edge design hotels, ensuring that every type of traveler can find their ideal match.

To help you navigate the city like a local and avoid common pitfalls, we have also included a set of practical booking and stay tips. But first, let us explore the establishments that define Bordeaux’s reputation for exceptional hospitality.

Stayed here for 3 days for a meeting. Quite impressive place. Close to many resaurants. Their own restaurant on the top floor serves amazing food with lots of options. Should mention that the staff was very friendly, across the board. The tram station to the town is a 10.min walk .

A truly amazing experience, located so conveniently to restaurants, shops, parks and everything a visitor should enjoy. Gina's Restaurant and Bar so great and everyone so helpful. The birthday surprise was special and felt like a real celebration. Cannot wait to return and enjoy the beautiful view sitting at the bar outside enjoying my special cocktails. Thank you.

An incredible hotel! Staff were amazing! Great location, visted with my wife during our honeymoon and we had an AWESOME time. The rooms were stunning, the pool beautiful. A fantastic hotel, that I'd recommend to anyone.

We were only there one night but I was impressed with the place. It's very unique, that's for sure! They are right next to a fabulous food market where you can eat/drink and sit outside and enjoy the locals and the great food or drinks from one of the many vendors inside the market. The pool is on a higher level and inside a glassed in room that has a patio. From there you can see all over Bordeaux.

Hotel is great and all but staff is very aggressive and rude. Was getting a coffee and I was told I was not allowed to take, as if I should have known. No signs all open.

Excellent hostel! Very cute, in a quiet and beautiful location surrounded by a few restaurants, pharmacy, an eco store, nearby laundromat. In very close proximity to boulangeries, small grocer, tonnes of restaurants and cafes near the train station (which is very handy). Buses are just a few minutes away to easily get around the centre. The staff were helpful, but one particular young lady who worked of a Sunday evening during my stay, thank you for being so friendly and sweet!! Rooms were cosy and plenty of privacy but I don't think it's ideal for someone who is claustrophobic as you feel enclosed. Bathroom/ toilet facilities were great, clean. One of the showers I used has mould in the ceiling which should be looked into. The kitchen facilities were great. The mess left was from other hostel stayers which were very dirty so not the fault of the hotel. The facilities were cleaned daily and they had large lockers which was excellent. I would stay here again if I came back to Bordeaux 👌🏻

very cool hotel, well decorated and furnished, with some great features like the rooftop terrace with swimming pool, or free coffee/tea/biscuits/candies at every floor. the building is situated in a new up and coming urban development area that is less than 10 minutes away from the train station. the walk to the city center though is longer, but it’s possible to take bus, tram or rent a bike(very recommended). rooms have a great view, but they are a little bit too tiny. some staff members could be a little more helpful and active and not let clients waiting so long.
Valerie Morgan Goff★★★★★
I was a little thrown off by reception, felt a bit like a hostel upon arrival, but was pleasantly surprised. My room was small but comfortable, good bed and covers, AC, nice shower, and coffee and tea available in the hallway. The breakfast was very nice too. Small pool, but includes nice rooftop seating and bar. Location is a bit awkward, not much you can walk too, but very close to one huge fun bar / restaurant and walkable to the Sainte Jean train station.

If you’re staying in Bordeaux for any length of time I highly recommend staying at JOST. The facilities are super comfortable, and the beds (even in the shared dorm) are the best for a good night sleep. Even better than the facilities are the staff, making us feel super welcome and relaxed. Couldn’t recommend enough, thanks guys
Ciara Walls★★★★★
Great location to trains and busses in Bordeaux! Comfortable beds, but the rooms aren’t as spacious, but there is a shared kitchen and the bathrooms are pretty clean. The rooftop is beautiful and great for sunsets!

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. In the morning, there was no running water in the bathroom. The breakfast was extremely disappointing, with only jam, pastries, some bread, ham, and cheese. If you have the chance, I highly recommend eating somewhere else. The room was damp, the bed sheets were inside out, and one of the pillows didn’t even have a pillowcase. I felt uncomfortable sleeping there, and my skin was itchy the entire time. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend staying here.
Tijn Va Blokland★☆☆☆☆
When I booked this place — and even later during check-in — there was absolutely no mention that major “roof maintenance” would be taking place during my stay. As a result, there was no air conditioning and virtually no ventilation available. The only solution offered was to leave the window open, which provided no relief from the heat and instead brought in mosquitoes along with constant noise from the nearby highway.
S Chen★☆☆☆☆
We stayed at this hotel from 13–19 June 2026 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Upon arrival, we discovered an ant infestation in our original room, making it unsuitable for normal use. The hotel moved us to another room and informed us that we could remain there for the rest of our stay. However, the following morning we were unexpectedly told that we had to move again because the previous arrangement had resulted from an internal staff error. As we were travelling for professional purposes, being asked to repeatedly pack and relocate caused significant disruption to our schedule. What was most frustrating was that the hotel repeatedly asked us to accommodate their mistakes rather than taking responsibility for them. The replacement room that was supposedly inspected before our arrival also contained ants. We documented the issue and ultimately ended up back in the same room we had been asked to leave earlier that day. Throughout the entire process, we never received a direct apology from management. We were repeatedly told that the manager would review the situation and discuss a resolution. However, despite multiple messages and several days of waiting, we checked out without ever receiving a response from the manager. Mistakes can happen in any hotel. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, the combination of pest issues, repeated room changes, poor communication, and the complete lack of managerial follow-up made this one of the most frustrating hotel experiences we have had. We cannot recommend this property based on our experience, particularly given the complete lack of management response despite multiple reports and repeated assurances that the matter would be reviewed.
Sharon D.★★★★☆
It was a great location within easy walking distance to the conference center, tram, and restaurants (particularly the Italian restaurant a few blocks away). For a budget hotel, the room was comfortable and the breakfast options were good. I woke up to the wonderful aroma of freshly baked croissants each day.
Hugo Marques Correia★☆☆☆☆
It was very disappointing. When we got to the room, the bed wasn't ready, we went to reception and they didn't offer any solution. It seems unacceptable to me to arrive in a hotel room and still have to put the sheet on the bed, the sheets, as well as the duvet cover. I also regret the cleanliness, as the bed had a lot of dust on it, as well as traces of blood. An experience not to be repeated with your hotel chain.

A lovely little gem on the Rue de Notre Dame. Caring staff. When one of us was ill during our stay they went out of their way to let us stay an extra day without changing rooms. Great location. Able to walk to the old city and many restaurants.

A gem of a hotel: ideal neighbourhood location in Chartrons, near tram and also walkable to the centre. Room impeccably clean, comfy bed. Will happily stay here again when returning to Bordeaux. Merci Patricia pour votre gentillesse — à bientôt !

I stayed at Hôtel Notre Dame in Bordeaux for two nights during a business trip, and overall, it was a good choice for the price. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it offers a solid quality-price balance, making it a great option for a short stay. The room was comfortable, and the staff was welcoming and helpful. They also offer room service, which was a nice touch. One thing to note is that there’s no elevator to the third floor, so you have to take the stairs. It wasn’t an issue for me since I was out most of the day, but it’s something to keep in mind. If you're looking for a simple, well-located, and reasonably priced hotel in Bordeaux, Hôtel Notre Dame is a good pick. Just be prepared for the stairs if you have a room on the upper floors!

More than happy with Hotel Notre Dame. Great location. Everything was as expected for the price. Anaïs was extremely helpful and a real credit to establishment. We would definitely stay again.
Laura Salcedo★☆☆☆☆
Not only do they fail in providing a satisfactory service, but they also audaciously respond to customer reviews on Google with falsehoods in an attempt to improve their reputation. We rented a room from the 22nd to the 23rd of November, at a rate of €96 per night. On the morning of the 23rd, while we were taking a bath, the water supply was interrupted due to excessive consumption. A staff member from the reception came to inform us of this situation just a couple of minutes before the water supply was cut off. Consequently, we had no choice but to leave the hotel without even being able to brush our teeth. We are certain that we are not confusing your establishment with another; however, we certainly wish we had chosen a different hotel. The least you could do is acknowledge your inadequate service and offer an apology for it.

Our stay was ruined by our room being unbearably hot. There was ‘AC’ in the room but this just feebly blew out a pitiful amount of mildly-cooler air. We complained to reception and they sent someone to check the room temperature. The engineer came with a device and confirmed the temperature was 23degrees and there was nothing they could do. But the room was much hotter than that and my husband and I couldn’t sleep for two nights. They said they would send a fan but nothing came. When we complained at reception on our last day, they did not apologise and instead said there was nothing they could have done. We were on third floor, so perhaps this is the hottest floor. Plus side - the room itself was spacious and they had filtered cold water machines on every floor. The location was ok - 10 minutes walk to Charlton. Also noisy building works are happening next door at the time of writing this review. I would not stay here again, given the terrible room temperature and the lack of empathy from the staff, after our complaint.
Malini Rajkumar★★★★☆
The hotel is about 20 or more minutes walk to the city centre. But only five minutes walk to the river, restaurants and Carrefour Grocery store. Breakfast is good. But on the two days we stayed they didn't have hot vegetarian options. There was fruit , yogurt and baked items. Service is good. Laith at front desk helped us reset our locker password, heat food as there was no microphone in the room. Our visit was during the heat wave. So Laith offered a fan of we needed one.
Warren Baillie★★★★☆
Overall we had a great stay at the hotel which is a very good choice for a visit to Bordeaux (short bus / tram trip to the centre). Due to a heatwave in Bordeaux during our stay the original room we were allocated was too hot (air con not cold enough). The hotel handled this well- with Laith on reception showing a lot of understanding, and excellent customer care by moving us to another (superior room). Laith is a credit to the hotel!
Peter L★★★★★
Everything about our stay was excellent. The location close to the river was ideal for our visit to Cité du Vin and as a base for a wine tour. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the meal at Le C was very good. Having on site parking with EV charging was convenient.

If your a ALL Accor member I would advise to Avoid this hotel customer service is nil and void very disappointing and has a lot to learn about service . This Hotel just caters to mass tour group and not loyal ALL Accor Members. Staff are very unfriendly and services you would expect with your membership just are not there Accor does not have many diamond members and it appears they the program has become useless. Unlike Marriott which still values it loyal customer service and rewards program.

Staycity was a great spot!! Literally in the heart of everything, the most convenient location. Easily walkable everywhere we went and the staff are so kind and helpful! The room we stayed in was on the smaller side, but the maximization of space and the layout of the space was very well thought out and made the space very useable for our 4 nights; it was immaculately clean and the bathroom was modern. Would recommend and would stay again, thanks so much Staycity!!
Jeff Harbourne★★★★★
The apartment had all the essentials for cooking and sleeping, and the bathroom was well designed and clean. The location is very convenient too - 2 mins walk from the Grosse Cloche gate to the old town. What makes this hotel exceptional is the sheer kindness and attentiveness of the staff. Sarah, the duty manager, and her team went out of their way to provide an absolutely first class service. From everyday requests to assisting us with our unforeseen early departure (when the smoke from the Gironde wildfires made the air unsafe to breathe), they were all genuinely keen to help and ensure that our stay was a happy one. Sarah even presented my wife with a lovely gift when it emerged that her birthday coincided with our early departure. We have never been treated with such hospitality, care and genuine warmth by staff before, so we can highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for inexpensive accommodation in a beautiful city with the highest quality service.

Lovely little hotel for one last night in Bordeaux, service was great and the location was perfect ans central. The website mentions parking but all the spaces had been reserved so we had to pay €30 at the recommended nearby car park which is not ideal. The room was clean and nice however the shower had a crack in the floor covered by a mat so a bit of a refurbishment could be good. Otherwise lovely.
Marc St Pierre★★★★☆
This is our first visit to Bordeaux and Stay City worked perfectly for us. The location was quite convenient without being in a noisy area. The rooms are good. They reflect the budget and are clean and quiet. The staff is where I give the hotel its best review. Each staff member I encountered was helpful and friendly. I’d like to single out Olivier with whom I mostly interacted. He was courteous and helpful as first timers to the wonderful city of Bordeaux. Would stay again.

The best budget stay you’ll find Honestly the best 2-star hotel I’ve stayed at. The room was clean and comfortable — no complaints whatsoever. The location is simply excellent. Great value for money, would stay again without hesitation.

I had such a wonderful stay. Owner was incredibly accommodating. Check-in and check out was a breeze and seriously couldnt have asked for a better location
Kerri K★★☆☆☆
This hotel has no air conditioning and no elevator. Our tiny room was located on the 4th floor and we roasted at night with room temps in the 90s. The small fan did little to affect the oppressive heat. The stairs to access the room are quite steep and would be challenging for anyone not able-bodied. The location was fantastic and check in was easy, although there are no attendants on hand.
Jasmin Gall★☆☆☆☆
The only positive thing I can say about this “hotel” is the location is good. I’ve had better hospitality falling asleep at a party than I did during my 4 night stay at “Hotel du theatre”. When I arrived, my driver had to stop down the road after taking 6 different routes trying to reach the hotel. The roads were all closed / blocked by pillars and the 15 minute drive ended up being 45 minutes. After finally reaching the hotel, I tried to enter the building, but the door was locked and lights were off inside. I could see an empty desk through the window, despite it being “open reception hours. I looked around and saw a keypad on the side of the door, and remembered my emails mentioning I would get a code. I looked through my emails for my door code and could not find it anywhere. I was very tired and just wanted to get to my room, so I called the phone number for the hotel. I speak a little bit of French but the lady on the phone did not speak any English. I did my best to speak slow in English, and to try in French… but she did not understand my English and I could not understand her French, due to how fast she was speaking. She eventually gave up and told me that she would call her “friend” to open the door. A young man came and opened the door for me and then sat behind the desk. He did not say anything to me, and was on a computer. I assumed he was checking me in but had no idea what was going on. He then handed me a piece of paper with 2 numbers on it. I was confused, so he pulled out his google translate and went back and forth with me so I could figure out what was going on. When I finally got to my room, I started to put my bags down and was met with a “welcome letter”. It told guests that they were under a change of management and that the hotel is not up to par. It also asked guests to give high ratings and if a guest wanted to give a rating lower than 8-10, to not review their stay at all. This explained why I had to turn on the hallway lights myself… but the timers did not last long enough for me to climb all the stairs to my room. I decided to use the washroom and was absolutely disgusted. There was still hair from the previous guest on the toilet, counter, in the shower and all over the bases of the wall. The bathroom counter was stained and had splatters of white paint on various spots, but worst of all, it was covered in a layer of dust / dirt. The corners connecting to the wall had hair and dust bunnies in them. It was absolutely disgusting, and as someone who is neurotypical, set me into a panic attack. I felt uncomfortable with the space I was supposed to “live” in for the next 5 days. I asked to change my room and was brought up a floor to a much smaller room that was only slightly cleaner than the previous. The baseboards and shower were still covered in hair, and the toilet seat had a big crack down the middle. At that point I had given up and was exhausted. I decided to make the most of it, cleaned the bathroom, then went to bed. My room was never cleaned, small garbages emptied or towels replaced once during my whole stay. My shower temperature was either hot or cold, and the head of the shower was falling off the wall so badly, I was afraid to touch it! The window in my room did not open properly and the walls were paper thin. The noise from the building traveled so much that it sounded like my bathroom door was being opened and closed when my neighbour gently used their door. It was so loud my boyfriend could hear in on the phone! Ad said there was breakfast hall but I never saw any ever. It felt more like staying at an empty apartment building than a hotel. I only saw 1 staff member twice during my whole stay (and I left/returned multiple times a day, throughout the day) *Ad lies about the following feature: - Multilingual & Helpful staff - Concierge service - Luggage Storage - Tour/Ticket assistance and porter/bellhop
Tom M★★★★★
It's a really nice hotel in a good area for shopping and tourism, it is definitely value for money. The rooms are a little old and maybe a bit quirky, some people might dislike that but personally I liked it. The staff are incredibly helpful and very kind and the breakfast which is served is really tasty and filling, I'd definitely recommend it! There is no lift, probably because of how old the building is, and some of the steps to the third floor can be a little steep and oddly shaped, so if you're unsteady on your feet be aware of that. The rooms are basic but comfortable, which I was ok with because I don't have a problem with basic and comfortable. The shower was fixed quite low down the wall, and being 6 feet tall (183cm) it was awkward having to shower at first, but I got used to it. Overall it was a brilliant stay, I would recommend it to anyone coming to Bordeaux and I would quite happily stay here again!

We had a great stay at this hotel—service was excellent and the staff were warm, helpful, and attentive throughout. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, making for a comfortable experience. The location was also a big plus, with easy access to key attractions and transport. Overall, a very pleasant and convenient place to stay.

Very basic room. Way too small. Toilet and shower are in different illogically designed positions. Was just one towel for the 2 of us. Electric socket near provided teapot wasn't working. Just one working socket near the entrance. Additional stars for service only because they had cherries at breakfast. Otherwise basic level service, they even rejected sending a card for me as I was running to the airport (of course I offered to pay for the stamp). Location is wonderfully central though. Straight tram line to the airport too.

What a great hotel, stayed here for a long weekend. Superb location on a quiet side street but still in the middle of the main area. Staff were really helpful and when we left some clothes in the room posted them back to us straight away. Rooms not huge but big enough and well equipped, bed was really comfortable.
Viktor jonsson★★★★★
Maybe we got lucky but I had a lovely time here. The staff was absolutely great. The older man was especially welcoming and the younger woman was equally lovely. The room was rustic but clean, not too much noise. Good pressure in the shower and a lot of hot water . We had a balcony and to be able to sit out there and enjoy the view was amazing. I think there is only one room with a balcony though but I'm not sure.
Mr Foodnpiste★★★★☆
I liked the olde worlde ambience of this hotel. A great location within walking distance of Aerport tram and major Bordeaux attractions plenty of cafes and bars nearby. The bed was very clean and comfortable. The water was hot and strong. A window opens onto the laneway for a cooling breeze. But these rooms are small as advised. En-suite shower and toilet are very small. The shower head does not hang up by it self so 1 handed showers are a bit cumbersome and plenty of water sprays out of the shower. Ventilation is in situ but an extra fan may be an improvement. Great value for money and there is an elevator for guest use.

Clean and basic hotel. Breakfast awful and a waste of €12 per head; long life milk made my cornflake muesli mix inedible. Orange juice was heavily diluted. Cold meat, cheese and bread selection OK. Rooms small but fine. Beds narrow. Good bathrooms. No fridge or Air Conditioning but the cool air system worked effectively. Communal kitchen seemed a good idea. Our drinks were still in a communal fridge the following day. Tricky location for hotel, 5 mins on wrong side of train station. Walking back there on Saturday night was not pleasant. Staff helpful.

Great place for backpackers, good guest kitchen, but be careful! The laundry is poorly designed. There's an app but if you use it other people get in the wash before you! Even if you get to it, the dryer does NOT work. We had to hang out stuff 😭. Pick a different hotel if you want to do laundry.

Close to the train station but on the quite side!! So nice! I took a twin room for one person and it was very comfortable. There’s a very nice open courtyard that makes all the rooms nice and luminous. The public spaces around the courtyard (bar, kitchen, lounge, restaurant) are all spacious and bright. The staff is extremely kind and very attentive 🥰 the vibe is chill, even other guests are happy and friendly 😁😁😁 I really enjoyed this stay and will definitely come back !

Although, it is very close to the train station, it is on the wrong side of the track. The services for cyclist are excellent, baggage storage, bicycle garage. Very helpfull staff. The rooms are ok, but the beds are relative small and could be improved to be more comfortable. A good choice for a short stay in Bordeaux if you are on bicycle.

More of a hotel than a hostel, but really nice place. Had a private room. Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom. Community kitchen was nice. Bar and restaurant. Pool table and Darts in the bar. Lots of places to sit! Super nice place. I didn’t love the breakfast but that’s just my personal preference. Friendly staff also.

It is ok. The shower worked very well. The bed was ok. What should be improved a little is the people at reception. They are not rude, but is is always good to smile a little and be a little more friendly. And the breakfast is not that good. 12 euros and you do not even have scrambled eggs, which are always present in all buffets I've been to.

Limited hot water. So that you cannot wash 2 times per day if needed(in case if you are with a partner). No warnings about it whatsoever. The toilet cannot be ventilated; the fan does not work. No room cleaning during the day too (or even once in a few days, only once per week or similar). The name hotel is misleading.
Evelyn Heyes★★★★★
A very good value hotel in a convenient location for public transport - 2 minutes walk from the C tramline which has trams every 8 minutes, and it takes about 8 minutes to get to the centre. We arrived before the check in time and the staff were very helpful explaining the policies and also giving us great advice about places to visit in Bordeaux and how to get to them. We were also able to store our bags in a secure room. Our room was very clean and quiet. Previous reviewers have complained about not getting the deposit back in full, but the conditions are clearly laid out on a notice board, and were explained to us. We had no issues with our deposit by adhering to the rules.

It's really nice to be here, the room is very cool and I have a beautiful experience with my family here
Mafalda Sofia★★☆☆☆
It was an “ok” place to stay. At first some things were broken but then they fixed them. The toilet had a very big stain and the flush wasn’t strong at all, so there was some bad smell. My apartment was very small without a place to eat or a living room, just a normal hotel room with a super tiny kitchen. The rule of the kitchen is that they don’t clean it, the clients should do that themselves or pay a fee if dont. That’s not good at all, because it’s not hygienic. A lot of dishes had stains and so on because there’s no washing machine so the hotel should clean it… the view from the room is very ugly and the outside corridor between rooms is also. There’s no offer of water or anything else. However, the bed was comfortable enough and there are many appliances in the kitchen that we can use, such as microwave… however no oven..

I loved the stay here! It is a quaint room worth the money! It’s a budget stay so didn’t expect a lot from but they had bath towels in the room. Coffee and extra face towels would have been helpful too. FYI, they take a few 1-2 euros to store your luggage if you need to step out. This was surprising because we have never faced it anywhere else, but we didn’t have a major problem with it. For a budget stay, I’d absolutely recommend it!

Terrible stay! The shower door opened right into the room. The room was very warm during arrival so we dialed the temperature down as much as possible and put on high fan speed. Wasn't until days later we realized the air coming out of the vent was warm so the temperature dial was broken. Asked front desk why wasn't the AC working and their reply was the whole building AC was turned off. Was given a bent table fan to put in room. Bed sags in the middle. We asked for ice at reception and they replied there was no ice available. Taxi and ride share service cars right outside the front doors. Area a little sketchy at night. 20 min tram ride in old quarter. Only good thing was it is literally right across the train station.

Friendly, natural service. Rooms are small but sufficient. Sleeping was quiet, beds are alright. Optional breakfast is sufficient and has some nice topics, for instance fresh fruits or take-away coffee.

I stayed at an Ibis hotel in Bordeaux and had a disappointing experience, mainly due to the service at reception. The afternoon receptionist didn’t even respond to a simple “hello,” which already set a poor tone. When we asked about having separate beds in the room, instead of offering any solution or checking availability, he immediately suggested a refund—as if the easiest option was just to get rid of us rather than help. It really felt like we were interrupting his phone time. He seemed very young and inexperienced, but more importantly, not trained in basic customer service. That’s not how you handle guests in hospitality. Overall, the stay was let down by this interaction. A bit more professionalism and willingness to assist would make a big difference

Very kind welcoming! Small room, very basic of course - it's Ibis budget but clean, perfect layout and well located near the station (1 minute). We had nice view to the old city. Nice shower and good beds. The breakfast was nice with enough choices.

There's a bedbug, and also the staff entered our room without asking at 06:58am like what is going on with this hotel. Really really bad experience😊

The bed was very simple, toilets floor was always wet from autowash system water, simple plastic cabin shower. Very warm staff though. Overall, nice and quite cheap for a short stay when you just come in to sleep and have stuff to do in the city. No restaurants around.

If you need safe, not expensive place to stay in Bordeaux I recommend staying at Hotel F1. They have closed gate which makes great safety feature for France, blackout windows to sleep well at night and hot coffee or tea for your morning (I haven’t tried breakfast as I had my own food). Price/quality ratio is great. If you’re student or professional driver crossing Bordeaux I definitely recommend Hotel F1. We booked a cheapest room, but it was cozy, and had all of the necessities to stay for the night.

Cool interior design, clean rooms, a perfect location, close to the tram and to some fun places like Cité du Vin and Les Halles Bacalan, the food court. The breakfast is just acceptable, but the price of the hotel is definitely the best you can imagine. Be careful with the rooms facing the food court; they are super noisy.

Very basic, budget hotel with a nice view. Student halls / accommodation vibe. However, we did not pay a budget price which is why I was so disappointed, we paid £200 for one night in one of the top range rooms (terraced), which I would advise against. The terrace is not private, it is shared with the room next you with some plants separating you, if you’re looking for privacy, that’s not possible, if you’re social and don’t mind sitting alongside your neighbours, then it’s for you! Also, there was a public terrace to the left of our room, which luckily was not in use but to have paid for a private terrace and then those who haven’t paid for a terrace essentially sharing your space for free would have been incredibly frustrating! The furniture on the terrace is aesthetically pleasing but practically very poor and very uncomfortable. The rooms are very basic, no complementary water, no wardrobe, no spare pillows and tiny impractical bins. The location is nice for the view but a distance away from the hustle and bustle of Bordeaux, you have to take a 30-45 mins walk to get to the centre where the majority of restaurants, shops and cafes are. The walk is lovely though. There is the tram which you could use instead of walking and there are more cosmopolitan and touristy shops or restaurants closer to the hotel if you’re happy with that kind of vibe. The staff are mostly lovely and attentive, and the cleanliness is of high standard. The view from the terrace is beautiful and you get the lovely afternoon and evening sun on the terrace.

We stayed at the hotel on a four-night stay in Bordeaux during an extended trip to Spain and France. The location is a bit beyond walking distance from the central city, but very near La Cité du Vin--a highly interactive "museum" about wine (see reviews about it for more info). The Cité du Vin tram stop is only about 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and makes getting into all areas of the central city easy. Like Moxy hotels worldwide, the concept is small but thoughtfully designed rooms with shared public space. The staff was conversant in English, and very friendly and helpful. Great option if your interest in visiting Bordeaux is learning about French wines.

My family and I have stayed at Moxy Bordeaux before and always had a positive experience, which is why we chose to book again. Unfortunately, this time the handling of our date-change request has been extremely disappointing. We provided medical documentation for an urgent surgery, and the hotel agreed to move our reservation. Now, due to a new medical appointment for a traveler with reduced mobility, we requested to bring the stay forward by three days. The hotel does have availability for those dates — Booking clearly shows it — yet they refuse to make the change, even though we offered to pay for an additional night. We are not asking for a favor: we are asking for basic coherence and empathy in a medically justified situation. It is frustrating that a hotel that promotes flexibility and modern service shows such rigidity when genuine understanding is needed

This hotel is a major disappointment. The value for money is poor, and I cannot recommend it. The room was extremely small with no chair to sit on, leaving only the bed as an option. There was no safe, mini-fridge, coffee or tea kettle. The windows did not open, making the room stuffy. The lighting was inadequate, consisting of only three spotlights. The ceiling was unsightly and did not meet the expected standard. There was no desk or table, only two stools that could be used as tables. An iron and ironing board were also unavailable. Additionally, there was loud banging from the next door room, and the walls felt so thin that it appeared as though someone could break in. The location was also poor, being too far from both the city centre (20+ minutes by tram) and the airport, with a tram ride taking over an hour. The hotel felt more like a student hostel than a three-star hotel. The friendliness of the staff could not compensate for the inadequate facilities. It is unreasonable to charge a hotel price for hostel accommodation. This was an awful experience. Save your money for a different accommodation in Bordeaux.

The place was clean and quiet, and the receptionist was very kind and welcoming. I arrived very late at night after a long and hectic journey from Spain to France, and the warm welcome was truly appreciated. I only stayed for a few hours before continuing my journey, but I really enjoyed my stay. Thank you.

Forced to stay here after our hire car fell through. Staff were very friendly and price was reasonable, lots of takeaway options nearby and very near the station

Clean and nice hotel for a short stay. Maybe a bit out of the city centre but the tram station is close. Breakfast is good for a B&B and the staff is super friendly and helpful.

It is near the Bordeaux Saint Jean train station, if that is what you are interested in catching trains. But it is far away from city center and other worthy visiting places of the city. Service is less than any one of the USA major hotel chains, including budget chains. The hotel does not give you discount if you stay more than one night, but discounts further its already subpar services after the first night. You become its captive guest after the first night. Rooms are pitiful. There is no chair to sit except a single uncomfortable stool without back support. There is no sufficient desk surface to even write a short shopping list. No pen or paper provided either. There is no storage space for personal belongings. Bathroom is the worst. The shower stall is about 4 by 2 feet with a single 2.5 feet glass panel as enclosure. There is no door or curtain to prevent water from splashing out of the stall to the bathroom floor. The consequence is a very wet bathroom floor after taking a shower, no matter how careful you try to prevent this from happening. I booked this hotel since it is close to the train station. But I learned the hard way. Pitfalls mentioned above could not possibly make up the benefit of train station proximity. This is not just a singular oddity at this particular hotel. This is the business model of this hotel chain. I will not again stay in any hotel of this hotel chain.

Clean, warm, and very comfortable hotel. The stuff was extremely friendly, welcoming helpful. Had dinner at the hotel it was delicious, the hotel was quiet what made our stay relaxing. It is also conveniently located not far away from historic part of the city. A big plus is that hotel is pet-friendly. Recommend!

A comfortable, modern quiet hotel situated on the opposite side of the river from the main waterfront with good sized rooms, friendly staff and generally good service. A short walk from the nearest Tram stop means the centre of Bordeaux is about 15 minutes away- highly recommended

Essential Tips for Booking a Hotel in Bordeaux

Navigating Bordeaux’s hotel scene requires a bit of local knowledge, especially given the city’s compact geography and seasonal fluctuations. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a returning oenophile, how you plan your stay can significantly impact your budget and your comfort. These tips are designed to help you secure the best value and location based on the city’s unique rhythms and layout.

  1. Prioritize the Golden Triangle or Chartrons for First Visits: If you want to walk to the major monuments like the Place de la Bourse, the Grand Théâtre, and the Cathédrale Saint-André, stay within the "Triangle d’Or." For a quieter, more residential feel with excellent antique shopping and wine bars, choose the Chartrons district just north of the center.
  2. Be Aware of Vinexpo and Trade Fair Dates: Bordeaux is a major business destination. During the biennial Vinexpo wine trade show (usually in odd-numbered years) and other major conferences at the Parc des Expositions, hotel rates skyrocket and availability plummets. Always check the city’s convention calendar before locking in your dates.
  3. Parking is a Premium: Many boutique hotels in the historic center are located on narrow pedestrian streets and do not have on-site parking. If you are driving a rental car, verify whether the hotel offers valet parking or a partnership with a nearby underground garage, as navigating the city’s ring road and parking signs can be stressful.
  4. Don’t Overlook the Tram Line: The tram system in Bordeaux is world-class and efficient. You do not necessarily need to pay a premium to sleep next to the tourist crowds. Booking a hotel slightly outside the hyper-center but within a 2-minute walk of a Tram B or C station can save you 30-40% on your nightly rate while keeping you connected.
  5. Request a Courtyard Room for Silence: Bordeaux is a vibrant nightlife city, particularly around the Place de la Victoire and the quays. If you are a light sleeper, request a room facing the interior courtyard (cour intérieure) rather than the street. The stone walls of many historic hotels block heat, but sound reverberates off the cobblestones.
  6. Book Restaurants in Advance: Once your hotel is secured, immediately pivot to dinner reservations. The best tables in Bordeaux, especially in the Chartrons and Saint-Pierre districts, are often booked weeks in advance. A great hotel concierge can work magic, but only if you give them enough lead time before your arrival.

The magic of Bordeaux lies in its details—the smell of canelés baking in the morning, the clink of glasses on a terrace at dusk, and the soft echo of footsteps on ancient stone. Choosing a hotel that aligns with your travel style ensures that you are not just visiting the city, but living within it, even if only for a few days.

Whether you choose a palace steeped in history or a contemporary hideaway with river views, your time in Bordeaux is bound to be memorable. Take the time to wander without a map, ask your hosts for their favorite local wine bar, and allow the city’s effortless elegance to set the pace for your journey.
