Sitting down for a meal in Nice is rarely just about the food. It is about the gentle hum of scooters passing by, the clinking of glasses of chilled rosé, and the warm Mediterranean sun on your shoulders. For families traveling to the French Riviera, however, finding the right spot involves a bit more strategy.
You need a place where a dropped fork doesn’t draw disapproving stares, where the menu goes beyond just “steak frites” for the little ones, and where the staff greets your children with a genuine smile rather than a sigh. The culinary landscape of Nice is a beautiful blend of rustic Niçoise traditions and sun-soaked Italian influences.
While the city is famous for its fine dining and bustling brasseries, it is also surprisingly welcoming to younger diners. Many restaurants here understand that French culture places a high value on family meals, and they have adapted their spaces to be both chic for adults and comfortable for kids. From shaded terraces perfect for a midday break to pizzerias where the dough tossing is a show in itself, Nice has you covered.
When navigating the dining scene with a family, location is everything. You do not want to trek across the Old Town with a tired toddler if you can avoid it. This guide focuses on spots that are not only delicious but also strategically located near major attractions, the Promenade des Anglais, or the quieter residential squares where locals actually eat. These are the places where you can relax, knowing that the kitchen understands the urgency of a child’s appetite.
The best family-friendly restaurants in Nice share a few key traits. They offer high chairs and booster seats without being asked twice, they often have a dedicated “menu enfant” that goes beyond processed nuggets, and they maintain a noise level that easily absorbs the chatter of happy children. More importantly, they offer space—either a large terrace or a generous dining room—so you do not feel like you are elbowing the couple on a romantic date next to you.
We have scoured the city, from the winding lanes of Vieux Nice to the breezy port district, to bring you a curated list that balances authenticity with practicality. Whether you are looking for the perfect wood-fired pizza, a hearty bowl of pasta, or a taste of traditional Socca that the kids will love, there is a table here waiting for you. You should not have to sacrifice quality for comfort while on vacation.
Below, you will find our top picks for the best family-friendly restaurants in Nice, followed by a few essential tips to make dining out with kids on the Riviera a breeze.

Amazing resteraunt, lovely food at very reasonable prices, we arrived just as it opened in the evening and there was already another large table waiting at the door too. Clearly very popular in the area and it is obvious as to why. We sat outside and they even provided some bug spray for us once it got dark. I liked how all the meals came with nice crispy herby roasted potatoes instead of chips, it reflected the extra care and attention put in to the food. I wish I could come back to try the rest of the stuff on the menu.

Service was friendly and attentive, and the roasted feta starter was delicious. The beef rib steak was disappointing though. It was cooked correctly, but the meat itself was tough and chewy — as you can see in the photos, I couldn’t eat about a third of it, and another third was fat. Maybe a third of the plate was actually good. For €28 they should pay more attention to the cut they’re using for this dish

One of the few restaurants that i would definitely come back to. Amazing food, great service and local vibes! We tried their roasted Camembert with truffles, burrata/ tomatoes and octopus stew. Authentic flavors and definitely should give it a try. Don’t miss their desserts. The baba is literally on fire and their creme burlee is to die for

Had a fabulous, friendly French dinner here. The staff / owner was very friendly and amazingly attentive. The food was excellent and delicious and obviously the chef was amazing. The flaming rhum baba was exceptionally light and tasty. Highly recommended.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Nice!
First of all, the staff at Le Bouchon were so welcoming! We didn’t speak French and we were still welcomed warmly by the kind lady that runs the show. There’s an English menu available too to make things easier for tourists. She’s super attentive and very nice, we felt right at home. One of the best eating experiences I’ve experienced anywhere, much better service than Michelin star restaurants I’ve been to in France. Come and experience what France truly can offer in terms of food and dinning. Reservation is highly recommended as the restaurant is full and reserve early too because it’s a very popular restaurant.
The food is superb! Everything was so good and the best part is you won’t break your wallet like the other restaurants in Nice. I loved every bite! It’s very good french cuisine.
I will definitely come back again if I visit Nice. Thank you for the lovely meal, Le Bouchon.

WOW! What an amazing experience from start to finish. The owners are so warm, welcoming, and incredibly passionate about their food. The food was EXQUISITE! Everything was fresh, savory, and unbelievably unique. You won’t find anything like it anywhere else in Nice. We highly recommend and will definitely be returning! One of the best restaurants in Nice!

Very cozy and quite place. First day in Nice, I just randomly checked online for a lunch. Didn’t reserve a seat but walked in. Food is very delicious and unique. Each ingredient is well-designed to contribute to the food. Dadri’s service is great as well. Very kind and responsive. He recommended to order the dessert Abricot poche Meme, which is amazing.. not very sweet, taste different with rosemary and caramel. Good experience and highly recommended to a one-person meal.

Restaurant Review: La Cantine de Mémé – Nice
I recently dined at La Cantine de Mémé in Nice and had a truly memorable meal.
First of all, a big shoutout to our waiter Badri — his service was excellent. He was friendly, attentive, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. His warm attitude made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable.
The Dishes:
The top plate featured a beautifully seared duck breast ,cooked to perfection with crispy skin and really tasted like steak. It was accompanied by roasted potatoes, fresh bok choy, a vibrant green sauce (likely a herb pesto), and artistic swirls of red and yellow sauces. The balance of flavours was impressive — rich, slightly sweet, and elegantly presented.
The bottom dish was an absolute highlight: a stunning grilled octopus tentacle. The octopus was perfectly cooked — tender yet with a nice bite, beautifully charred, and generously coated with a fragrant green sauce. It came with stuffed zucchini flowers, refreshing cucumber slices, and delicate purple shiso leaves on a striking terrazzo plate. The combination was fresh, flavourful, and visually spectacular.
From the thoughtful plating to the quality of ingredients and refined flavours, La Cantine de Mémé delivers a high standard of French-Mediterranean cuisine. With warm service (special thanks to Badri), a pleasant ambiance, and excellent dishes, this is definitely one of the standout restaurants in Nice.
Highly recommended! If you’re in Nice and looking for great seafood and refined meat dishes, don’t miss this place. I would happily return.

This way hands down the best food I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. My fiancé and I are completely blown away. The ambience and service is also amazing - very attentive and kind staff with a lively seating area with perfect vibes for a date night or dinner with family and friends. The menu changes every 2 weeks but the Mahi Mahi fish we had tonight was to die for - as well as the caramel brioche desert (I may be getting the name wrong but it seems to be a permanent item on the menu…you have to try it). Definitely definitely eat here if you’re from Nice or visiting…it’s insanely worth it. We can’t wait to come back!

The food was fantastic, and the service was decent as well. However, it’s a pity they don’t serve lunch formula on weekends. If they did, it would be an ideal place for a meal. All the meals are excellent, so I definitely recommend it.

As a female solo traveller, I really appreciated that the restaurant accommodated my request for a quiet table. The service was fast, professional, and very polite. The waitresses were kind and attentive, regularly checking that I felt comfortable.
The food was excellent: the cheese agnolotti (fresh ravioli) were delicious, with a beautiful handmade Italian taste. The meat was also very tender and full of flavour.
The restaurant has a cosy, elegant, and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for couples, families, or solo travellers. The location is very central and easy to find. I would definitely recommend it and would happily return.
Thanks, Cynthia.

We had a pleasant lunch here during our visit to Nice.
The atmosphere was enjoyable, with a nice setting and a relaxed ambiance that made for a comfortable dining experience. The service was the highlight of our visit. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the meal. She took the time to answer our questions and made us feel genuinely welcome.
For food, we tried the lamb shank and gnocchi. The presentation was excellent, and the dishes were enjoyable. The lamb was tender and well cooked, while the gnocchi was rich and comforting. However, while the food was good, it was not particularly memorable compared with some of the other restaurants we have visited during our trip.
Overall, this is a place I would recommend for the warm hospitality, pleasant atmosphere, and solid dining experience. The service deserves 5 stars, the atmosphere 4 stars, and the food 4 stars, which is why I am giving an overall rating of 4 stars.
Thank you to the staff, especially our waitress, for making our visit enjoyable.

Incredible!!! Kay, our server, was kind, friendly and attentive. She allowed us to ask for rice on the lamb shank special (ordered by my husband). He raved with every bite. I had the Saubread with goat , honey, almonds, figs, etc. Delicious! Highly recommend this place. The best meal we’ve had in France at the most reasonable price

Great meal in France!
This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag.
We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly.
The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus.
All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn’t order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment.
Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

As a symptomatic celiac, was good to find somewhere in Nice where I could eat safely Gluten free. The staff were friendly and accommodating and seemed to be knowledgable when I said I had a gluten ‘allergy’ and that they needed to be careful about cross contamination in the kitchen.
As always, I would recommend advocating for yourself and making sure you are comfortable with the kitchen procedures and staff knowledge around cross contamination and celiac disease. Through my own questions, I felt comfortable eating here.
I had a small steak with vegetables and potatoes dauphinoise - it was all tasty and nicely cooked. I also had a crème brûlée for dessert which was great, and a limoncello spritz for a drink. Everything was nice, and while the place was a little expensive, for this meal it felt worth the price.
We arrived later in the evening and were able to walk in, but the place was busy so bookings recommended. Overall, good vibes!

We were looking for somewhere to try local Nice specialities and the recommendations for this place looked good. We arrived shortly before midday and were quickly shown to a table. A queue did build but the staff got through it very quickly. We ordered a range of pissaladieres and soccas to try as much as we could and none disappointed. A great place to go for these classic dishes.
Rie Richardson★★★★★
A perfect place to try the authentic socca, and a bit of everything! Loved the small portions so we could sample different dishes. If you never had socca before, go for the original (without toppings)- which was recommended by the staff and thankful he did, loved it so much we had our seconds!
ahbarable★★★★☆
If you’re interested in trying Socca, I’d definitely recommend this place. The service was great and everything was served quickly. From the atmosphere and the menu I’d say it’s more of a casual bar where you come to hang out and have some snacks, rather than a place for a full meal.
Seda Guner★★★★☆
Tried local Nice food here. Socca was okay.
Liked the tapenades which is crushed olives with crispy french baguettes.
Pissaladiere flavor was way too strong for me.

I went to here for dinner on 17 April 2026.
Gabriel looked after me and help to choose the menu, taking into account how hungry I was and what I fancied eating.
Traveling alone as a woman is always about nervous-wracking, but Gabriel’s warm and welcoming service put me at ease, allowing me to enjoy a peaceful dinner time.
Thank you very much and I will definitely come again when I come to Nice.✨

Kenneth Liu★★★★★
Really excellent experience at Maison de Marie. The service was genuinely outstanding: attentive without being overbearing, very friendly, and the staff all had a great sense of humour which made the whole atmosphere feel relaxed and welcoming.
The food was also fantastic. The foie gras was rich and beautifully prepared, the prawn linguine came with genuinely succulent prawns, and both the gnocchi and escargot were excellent. Everything felt fresh, well cooked, and full of flavour.
The only small point worth mentioning is that the kitchen closes at 2:30pm, which felt a little unusual for a beach town restaurant. It also meant some fish dishes , particularly anything requiring longer preparation, were unavailable, so the menu became a bit more limited later into lunch service.
That aside, we had a brilliant meal and would happily return. Great food, great service, and a really enjoyable atmosphere.

What a great restaurant! Easily our best dinner in Nice. Absolutely loved the mains with the daube being the best one we've had yet. The octopus was outstanding, and the chocolate mousse was delicious although interesting (never had truffle and olive oil with mousse before). Service is amazing and the restaurant is in a beautiful tucked away setting. Very atmospheric and highly recommended!

We had a wonderful dinner at La Maison de Marie in Nice while celebrating with a party of 4. We ordered several different dishes to share, and everything was excellent. The highlight of the evening was definitely the lamb shoulder for two – it was incredibly tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The portions were generous, making it great value for the quality of the food.
To finish the meal, we ordered the Pavlova for dessert, and it was an absolute must-have! Light, fresh, and beautifully presented, it was the perfect ending to a fantastic dining experience.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We would highly recommend La Maison de Marie to anyone visiting Nice and looking for a memorable meal. We will definitely return on our next trip!
Sasinant Chancharoensin★★★☆☆
Great food, but the terrible service ruined our final night in France.
The chefs here are incredibly talented. The beef with ravioli and the seafood in bisque sauce were fantastic. Sadly, the front of house staff ruined the hard work of the kitchen.
We were ignored for 30 minutes after being seated, while tables who arrived after us ordered first. No focaccia is served while other tables got served once seated. After finally getting our food (which came out quickly), trying to pay took forever. Two different servers ignored our request for the bill, and my partner had to stand up at the table like a beacon just to get someone to take our money.
A simple meal of just mains and drinks dragged on for 2.5 hours solely due to staff incompetency. Instead of a nice final stroll through Nice, we had to sprint to the train station. Brilliant kitchen, but the service is lacking and is an absolute joke.
Amy Egert★★★★★
We are outside under a beautiful canopy of green. Food was excellent and one of the best meals we had in France including Paris. I had the La Marmite. de Marie (fish stew) and he had the Beef Daube. Both had amazing flavors. Naomi was our server and was fast, efficient, pleasant and played with our American humor and made us laugh.

This place was wonderful! Great ambiance/decor, comfortable seating and very generous portions! The sea bass was excellent and my kids liked the pasta on the kids’ menu. The veal Milanese was mediocre (dry and not too much flavor) and the beef was good, not amazing. The truffle pasta was very good. The service, by our waiter Ryan, was amazing. He was so helpful and attentive and kept us with water and butter for the bread constantly, which was a hit with our kids! And the atmosphere is darling! And the AC is wonderful, especially in this horrific heatwave. All in all, this was a wonderful lunch spot for our family and we highly recommend it!
Micha Fernandez★★★★★
Fantastic food. Prices are reasonable for the south of France. The prawn cocktail was wonderful, as was the duck and sea bream. Their mango daiquiri cocktail was also very tasty.
We went on a Sunday night which was pleasantly busy, but make sure you book a table. Ordering was a little slow due to the business, but our waiter still made sure to check in on and us and food came relatively quickly once we did order.
The indoor decor is stunning. However do note if you book the terrace that it is a table on the street, we thought it’d be on a rooftop overlooking the city!

Truly amazing food! Ryan is the best server. He had excellent recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed everything that we tried. He was very attentive. Atmosphere was 10/10 with live music. Once again, Ryan is amazing!

Perfect evening spent here, great food that arrives pretty fast and wonderful live entertainment. The decor is absolutely stunning.

Amazing food, really delicious and great service. The only downside is we booked a table for 2 in advance hoping to have a romantic meal, and when we arrived we were sat next to a table of 6 rowdy loud ladies. And there were 3 tables of couples on the other end. It would be a good idea to give couples privacy and a quiet area. Rather than in the same small room of a larger table.

We had an unforgettable experience at Chez Acchiardo. From the moment we walked in, everything felt special—the warm, authentic atmosphere, the charming decor, and the sense of history woven into every detail.
What truly stood out was the story behind the restaurant. Hearing about the owner and how they used to make wine with his grandfather added such a personal and meaningful touch. It’s rare to find a place where tradition and passion are so deeply felt.
And the food—absolutely incredible. Every dish was exceptional, from the perfectly prepared meat to the rich, flavorful ravioli, and the desserts that were the perfect ending to the meal. You can really taste the care and quality in everything they serve.
This is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. I would go back in a heartbeat. Make reservations!

One of the best restaurants in Nice! Family business since 1927, extremely tasteful recipes and the ambience is cozy and friendly. Big thank you as well to Jean Francois for his warm welcoming. I can’t wait to be back!

This place has become such a huge trend on social media, ao it's not a surprise that it's always busy. We had a reservation for 9pm but still had to wait about 15-20 minutes for our table. Even at that time the restaurant was packed inside and there was a queue outside.
That said, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were seated in the lower dinning area at a spacious corner table, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The food was delicious, the portions were generous and we had a great overall experience.
Highly recommend this place. Keep up the good work! 👏

Peppino’s was soo good we had to go there twice for dinner during our 1 week stay in Nice. The lasagne was delicious! It’s a very cute restaurant with vibey outdoor seating. A hidden gem in Nice. However, the tables are quite small and it can get a little cramped.

Veeeeery nice and popular place. Food is great and reasonably priced, service is excellent. At peak hour you might have to wait to be seated. Outside on the terrace you enjoy the vibrant Nice while inside seating looks posh.

La favola was a nice dinner on our second night in Nice. We arrived around 7:45 pm and there was a long line but it moved quickly and we were seated before 8 pm. The servers were nice, however it was very busy so the service did not stand out. Our meals and drinks were good especially the rosé and Limonade rose, as well as the Speghetti aux fruits de mer. We were offered homemade focaccia when we arrived and a basket of bread along with our mains. We didn’t have any dessert but took a look at the menu and others around us and they looked good. Overall it was a good dinner experience.

The seafood pasta was fresh, well-seasoned and probably the best I’ve ever had. The bufala on the pizza was deliciously milky and the crust was also perfect. We went around 6PM on a Sunday but service was quick.

Popular for a reason! We went around 8pm and only waited about 5 minutes for a table, but the queue was already getting pretty long, so I’d recommend going a little earlier if you can. Despite being absolutely packed, the service was friendly and efficient, and both the food and drinks came out very quickly. Everything was delicious and it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Nice!!

The food and vibe of this place was impeccable! We had the salmon with rice and lasagna and both were so good, we wiped our plates clean. Also the tiramisu was excellent. The staff were so friendly and explained the menu nicely. The service was super quick too. Definitely a great find in the heart of old town. Must visit when in Nice !

Lovely, cozy place in the heart of the Old Town situated near the Place Garibaldi. We had Peppers in oil and Farcis Nicois which was delicious and well spiced. The red wine was fabulous.

We ate here after reading very positive reviews, so the expectations were high. Unfortunatley not all dishes were prepared evenly well. The bavette was terribly overcooked, grey inside and unpleasant to swallow. The chicken was okay, but nothing special. Steak tartare tasted like it was not hand chopped but prepared in a blender. The burger was the best, very tasty and prepared well.
Atmosphere was good and service quick.

Great service, great food and staff was wonderful. Got there slightly before closing for lunch, but they didn’t rush us and were very personable. Highly recommend!

Service was quick for a busy mid week visit. Presented with a board to choose from, went with the lasagne and it was a small portion, expected more to be honest. Wasn't offered any bread with the meal despite bread baskets been handed out to others, unsure if it's because I was solo. Interesting music choices being played to say the least throughout the meal.

My wife and I ate here. She was really looking for a Niçoise salad and I was hankering for a cheeseburger. We got what we wanted and it was great. The service was very great and everyone was nice.

I have been 6 days in Nice and this was by far the best experience and best food that I had. Tuna was so well seasoned and the dessert Pavlova torta was exeptional. We had luck that we had even love music from closeby restaurant. Whole evening was wonderfull. Staff was really friendly and helpful (knew english) and were asking if we are satisfied quiet regularly.

I was here on the 10th of June with a group of 19 people, the guy serving us did truly an amazing job. He was service minded, very friendly all the quests were saying how impressed they were how he handled our group so well almost the whole time on his own. Big compliments!!

Tonight I had my dinner at Little Boho. I had a really excellent Pokémon Bowl, a great cocktail, a fine wine and an delicious dessert, the chocolate one.
I think everybody should come and eat here, because the kitchen is TOP! Thanks 😊

If you're looking for chicken tendees in Nice, look no further than Little Boho. They are called something like "Crispy de poulet maison". Delectable. Once we discovered these, we walked approximately 5 km per day to get them again. Good service, nice place.

We started with the frog legs, which were exceptionally good, and paired them with some truly delicious wine. For our main courses, we ordered the steak and the goulash—both were prepared perfectly and tasted outstanding. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic, but what really made the visit special was the super friendly, English-speaking staff who took great care of us. Highly recommended!

Probably one of the best places in Nice to try actual French cuisine and not get ripped off. We had to wait quite a while for our order to be served, but boy was it worth it! The food was absolutely delightful - prepared with much love and creativity from juicy, quality ingredients.
The personnel was also cheerful and English-speaking. It was worth it!

From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such warmth by the host. It set the tone for a wonderful evening. The menu has great traditional options. We tried the escargots and the frog's legs, which were both delicious and perfectly seasoned. For our mains, the sea bream was fresh and flavourful, and the steak was cooked exactly as requested. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, both inside and on their lovely terrace. For such high-quality, authentic food, the prices are very reasonable. This place is a real gem, and we'll definitely be back.
Tam Nguyen★★★★★
We was told the owner changed about a month or 2 ago so some of the dishes are no longer available, but that shouldn’t stop you from visiting this place as this was probably one of the best spots we dined in during our trip.
We started off with escargot and frogs legs. Not a lot of meat on frogs legs, of course, but the tenderness of the meat and the flavour was well worth it.
Then, we had the steak and scallop risotto. Steak was okay, cooked exactly how i like but it’s a thin cut. The real star was the scallop risotto, consistency and taste were amazing, highly recommend this dish (love that some restaurants give you your own parmesan shaker)
Also want to mention the young female waitress was attentive and really helpful, great service!

Booked a table for our anniversary dinner and I must say it was THE best food we had during our stay in Nice. Absolutely loved all the unique flavours and the generous serving size - loved them over all the big restaurants in Old Nice. Great atmosphere and welcoming staff. They were very patient with us as we took a little longer to choose our menu as we didn't understand French. 28 euros for a three course meal got us full and happy on our anniversary! Thank you so much!

I think this has been our favorite restaurant in Nice so far. Actually all of France. The food presentation was incredible, prices are great, the service was the best. It's two brothers who own it, one who works in the front the other in the kitchen. A lovely experience on a cute patio. The octopus was cooked perfectly (not easy to perfect tenderness). Highly recommend!

Great food. We had the croq’truffle and bacon waffle which was delicious. We also had the French toast with hazelnut and chocolate. The hot chocolate was not as thick as I would like but the toasted hazelnuts on the top were absolutely delicious which made up for it. Would recommend

Fantastic brunch and drinks!
We ordered croissant rolls, cocktails, matcha and coffee latte. The food was fresh and delicious, and drinks were super crisp and flavourful.
Waiters were really nice and attentive too, thank you a lot guys!
Definitely a great experience as foreign tourists.

If you are looking for an incredible brunch, this is the place. It’s perfectly located just a short walk from Place Garibaldi, the Port, and Castle Hill, making it an ideal stop before or after exploring the city.
The menu here is simple but incredibly interesting, featuring delicious and very unique recipes that stand out from your standard brunch fare. The kitchen and service are highly efficient. our food arrived quickly and in a logical, orderly manner.
The staff is welcoming and friendly, though we did feel they tried a bit too hard to upsell and encourage us to order more food than we needed. However, that was just a minor detail in an otherwise fantastic experience.
Be aware that it is a small, cozy space, so you might have to wait a bit to be seated during peak hours on weekends, but it is absolutely worth the wait. I will definitely be going back!

This was one of the best meals I had in France. The burger was incredible and the quality of the food was unmatched. The flavor profile was unlike any burgers I have ever had. The service was good and staff was friendly. We will definitely return.

The food was amazing! The service was amazing, they explained every item on the menu and they were extremely friendly. It is exactly what you would expect from a local restaurant. Highly recommend for everyone! It’s a must in Nice.

A nice roadside restaurant that has vibrant staff and even more vibrant foods.
We got the Chicken Burgers, both were tantalizingly tasty and worth the 18€.
I also got a Noisette Coffee that i didn't rate much but that might just be because I'm Italian.
Overall i recommend this place for a quick bite if you are near the Nice train station.

I feel that to give a google review of this incredible place is a disservice to the foodies among us.
This is a restaurant in which I would love to gatekeep as it is truly, the most authentic bistro that I found in nice- not to mention the food was some of the best I’ve ever had in France.
Small Menu, no frills, amazing (well priced wine) and friendly and truly French service.
We went back the day after as le
Buggy was just how I like to enjoy my food.
No thrills and tasty.
The chef/owner, although a fan of the French rugby team - was very very accommodating and we had a huge pleasure spending time in his restaurant and eating his food.

When I travel, I don't like eating at tourist attractions. It doesn’t feel genuine. I prefer small, local places where the staff are warm-hearted and sweet. The location is also very nice. Come here in the mornings for coffee and in the afternoons for a meal, as they have delicious food and various beverages. I have visited all of France, but the South felt very different to me; everyone here smiles at you and speaks English. Thank you guys!

This place was one of the highlights of my trip to Nice. We ordered Paella to go and the portion size was great and the taste excellent.
The staff were very nice and welcoming. While we waited for our food they offered us complimentary sangaria which was equally good.
The restaurant doesn’t look like much but don’t let that fool you. It’s a must vice when in Nice.
Jiayi Wu★★★★★
This is the first meal we had upon arrival, AND IR WAS PERFECT! We couldn’t talk during the meal as we were just too busy enjoying the food. We ordered the seafood and royale mix. Also enjoyed the Sangria and a nice cream brûlée. Couldn’t have had a better choice.

Paella in Nice with fresh seafood, great taste, small local restaurant, and friendly service. Tip: order the Sangria too, it’s amazing. Kitchen closes around 930-10pm. I recommend a reservation.
Sam G★★☆☆☆
Food not special, do not go here. If you've ever had good paella before, like in Valencia or borough market in my experience, this is very inferior to that. The food wasn't awful, but below average and underwhelming. Was basically spiced/steamed rice & fairly dry seafood, came out very quick which isn’t like paella. 30euro for below average paella
Robin Xiao★★★★★
Lunchtime was easier to get a space. The paella is probably The best one I’ve ever tried. Especially the rise is softer than other stores, which is more match my preference. The seafood quality was unreal as well. Gutted the lobster one was sold out. We’ll definitely try again next time!
Tips for Dining Out with Kids in Nice
Navigating the French dining schedule can be a bit of a culture shock for families used to eating early. However, with a little local knowledge, you can turn every meal into a stress-free highlight of your trip. These practical tips will help you blend in with the local rhythm while keeping everyone’s blood sugar levels balanced and spirits high.
1. Embrace the Late Lunch
Most restaurants in Nice stop serving lunch around 2:00 PM or 2:30 PM and do not reopen for dinner until 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Instead of fighting this schedule, make lunch your main family meal of the day. You will find better value with the “Formule” or “Plat du Jour” menus, and restaurants are often much less crowded and more relaxed during the afternoon service.
2. Look for the “Menu Enfant”
While not universal, many of the restaurants listed here offer a dedicated children’s menu. These usually feature a simple protein like grilled chicken or fish, a side of pasta or mashed potatoes, a drink, and often an ice cream for dessert. It is an excellent value compared to ordering a full-price adult entrée for a picky eater.
3. Skip the Bread Basket Bribe (At First)
French bread is incredible, but filling a child up on baguette before the meal arrives is a classic mistake. It is tempting to let them munch to keep them quiet, but try to hold off until the main course arrives. If you must offer something, ask for a “carafe d’eau” (tap water) first—it is free and safe to drink—to hydrate them while they wait.
4. Consider Apartment Rentals with Kitchens
Even with this list of great restaurants, eating out for three meals a day with small children can be exhausting. Consider booking accommodation with a small kitchenette. This allows you to pop down to the Cours Saleya market in the morning, buy fresh fruit, cheese, and bread, and have a low-pressure breakfast or picnic lunch on the beach, saving your restaurant budget for a relaxed dinner.
5. Master the Art of the “Carafe” and the “Toilette”
In France, asking for a glass of tap water is perfectly acceptable; just ask for “Une carafe d’eau, s’il vous plaît.” Additionally, public restrooms can be scarce, but restaurants are generally happy to let a paying customer use their facilities. If you are out walking and a child has an emergency, do not hesitate to pop into a café, order an espresso or a juice, and ask for the “toilette.”
Finding the perfect meal in Nice is one of the great joys of visiting the French Riviera. With a bit of planning and a relaxed attitude, dining out with your family can be a delightful exploration of new flavors and textures. Watching a child discover the joy of a perfectly crisp piece of Socca or twirling spaghetti alla Puttanesca is part of the magic of travel.
So, pull up a chair at one of these welcoming tables, order a pitcher of local rosé for the adults and a fresh-pressed juice for the kids, and settle in. In Nice, the table is a place where memories are made, and these restaurants are ready to welcome your whole family with open arms and full plates.
