We have curated a list of the best dining establishments in the vicinity, focusing on quality, atmosphere, and value. These restaurants range from intimate wine bars to elegant dining rooms, all within walking distance of the basilica.

Very friendly staff and excellent food. I highly recommend trying the escargots – they were delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked, fresh, and full of flavor. The foie gras was also excellent.
Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and the air conditioning inside was a great bonus on a warm day.
Definitely worth a stop if you’re visiting Paris!

Amazing food and a wonderful experience! Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel right at home. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Paris!

This place was absolutely perfect for our team dinner. The food is delicious very authentic, the service is outstanding. The waiters and the manager are very attentive. Food came out right away. We truly enjoyed our time there.

The duck leg was absolutely delicious, and the sauce was so amazing that I kept wanting more. The beef was incredibly tender—I couldn't believe how soft it was without being chewy at all.
Unfortunately, we found a hair in one of the dishes, but after we informed the staff, they immediately made a new one for us. The male server was extremely friendly, cheerful, and handled the situation very professionally.

This French cafe and restaurant in the area offers a delightful dining experience for both light meals and hearty lunches and dinners. The establishment boasts both indoor and outdoor seating, providing a pleasant ambiance with stunning views. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially during peak hours. However, if you’re in the vicinity and the restaurant isn’t overly crowded, you can simply walk in and enjoy your meal. The food here is simply amazing, and the service is impeccable. Once you place your order, all the dishes arrive promptly.

We came here two days in a row, because it was so good!
Great food, onion soup was amazing!
We really recommend confit de canard, it just melts in your mouth.
Desserts are also very tasty as well as the cocktails.
Glad we came here, you can feel that they pour their heart into the food ❤️
The owners are lovely💕

We had a delicious ancient raclette experience. The meats were quality, the potatoes the best we ever tried and the whole experience in the Tavern with the coals melting away our own raclette cheese cube was something to remember.
Price-quality was on point and service with a smile. We would have loved French music in the background but the easy going hit songs were also fine.
Definitely recommend this place.

So so good! Just off the main busy area of Montmart! This beautiful building has amazing food, very nice service and even though they didn’t have kids menu they did make a pasta the way my kid wanted it! Highly recommend this
Marc Roca★★★★★
A very good choice if you want to try authentic French dishes at a reasonable price and in a place that isn’t overly touristy. The restaurant is small but full of charm, the service is attentive, and the food is genuinely well-prepared. Most guests order either fondue or raclette, and in both cases the experience tends to be very enjoyable.

Delicious. The escargot was divine. The frog legs were cooked perfectly. The steak was exquisite and the accompanying sauces were surprising. I have never liked blue cheese and the blue cheese sauce was my favorite!! I need that recipe. The tarte tatin was the perfect end to the meal!
Larissa Tschaler★★★★★
Beautiful experience. Small restaurant and i believe one would usually need to make a reservation, yet we had the fortune of getting a table without one. The waiter seemed stressed, but remained professional and kind; we even had a chat with him after our dinner.
The food was amazing, the whole process or preparation seemed very high in quality. We ordered froglegs, steak for 2 and a crème brûlée. Water, bread and butter was on the house. In total we payed 101€. This is a lot of money, yet in our opinion it was totally worth it!
Lorraine Garvie★★★★★
Really great experience - food incredible - service brilliant - reasonable price for steak and wine pricing is best I've seen in Paris.
Book by email 2 weeks in advance - easy getting a table but it's a small restaurant so you may be disappointed if you just turn up.
Chat GPT recommended Sacre Fleur and a chef that I know and they were both spot on thank you.
Bear in mind it's June and it's hot. The restaurant is small - with some fans. Don't overdress!

What an absolute gem of a restaurant.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this is a genuinely French restaurant, not one that simply borrows French names or dishes. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, the quality of the ingredients, and the execution of every plate reflected true French hospitality and culinary tradition.
The food was outstanding from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and made with obvious care and expertise. The quality of the ingredients really shines through, particularly the meat, which was cooked to perfection and among the best I have tasted in a long time. It is increasingly rare to find a restaurant that combines authenticity, consistency, and such high standards while still offering excellent value for money.
What made the experience even more memorable was the service. Kendel and Silvan were absolutely exceptional in every aspect. Professional, attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests have a wonderful experience. They struck the perfect balance between being attentive without ever being intrusive, making us feel welcomed and valued throughout the entire meal.
Customer service of this standard is difficult to find. Every interaction was handled with genuine care, professionalism, and a smile. It is clear that they take great pride in what they do, and it elevated an already excellent dining experience into something truly special.
If you are looking for authentic French cuisine, outstanding quality, perfectly cooked meat, reasonable prices, and some of the best service you could hope to receive, this restaurant deserves to be at the very top of your list.
A huge thank you to Kendel and Silvan for making our visit so memorable. We will definitely be returning and recommending this place to everyone we know.
Kit McKinney★★★★★
What a hidden gem! Tiny restaurant, reservation is a must, but WOW. The food was incredible, frogs legs, French onion soup, salmon and duck. Everything was amazing. The service was superb, the waiters are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble even with my very rusty French! A truly excellent meal, would highly reccomend!

Excellent restaurant in montmartre, really glad we ate here as the food was delicious. There is a great view, although it is currently obscured by scaffolding.
They had fans set up to help with the heat, which was much appreciated.

A really wonderful restaurant and owner. The boeuf bourguignon was rich and delicious especially with a nice glass of wine. The duck and the sauce also was amazing, so beautiful and delicious, perfect meals. Followed by an orange crème brûlée had an interesting and refreshing end to the meal. Perfectly made. The service too was friendly and helpful. I would definitely want to come back again.

Le Cabanon de la Butte is a gem that’s absolutely worth the trek up the hill. This traditional restaurant serves authentic French cuisine with warmth and expertise that’s increasingly rare to find.
We visited as a family of seven with a booking, and everything we ordered was excellent. I had the beef bourguignon, which was cooked to perfection, the beef was incredibly tender and flavourful, so good that everyone at the table wanted a taste! The entire menu impressed us, with each dish showcasing classic French cooking at its best.
The staff were wonderful, taking the time to kindly explain everything on the menu and making us feel welcome throughout our meal. The atmosphere captures that traditional French restaurant charm beautifully, even if our photos don’t quite capture the experience.
Make sure to book ahead, this place gets busy for good reason. If you’re looking for authentic French food served with genuine hospitality, Le Cabanon de la Butte is a must-visit.

Perfect, amazing.
I ate the famous Margret and it's simple amazing. It's worth.
To be honest the desserts were not that good, bud I will maintain 5 stars because the main dish is fabulous.

Excellent place to eat. Delicious food, beautiful presentation and atmosphere. I’ve never tried duck but this is the first time and it was exquisite. My husband tired the beef bourguignon and it was amazing and flavorful. Best food I’ve had in my visit to Paris. Highly recommended. Not overpriced - just perfect.

Visited the restaurant as part of my team building event during the June heatwave. The atmosphere was great, with live music. The food was excellent, especially the well-seasoned fish, which was moist. The only downside was that the air conditioning wasn't cold enough, but that's understandable given it was 40°C outside.
J M★★★★★
Very cozy atmosphere during my visit, aesthetically blended architect that fits seamlessly in its wonderful neighbourhood and with great food. Especially loved the beef bourguignon, although it would be best to pair with the bread to offset its saltiness if it's too much for you. Definitely a great choice with our Go City pass!
Katie Hunter★★★★★
We had a lovely family dinner. The service was wonderful! Saif was so attentive I made us feel right at home! My name is Catherine so I wanted the dish to take home. He helped me figure out which one and packaged that beautifully for me! It really was a special and memorable evening.

Gorgeous seats out front enjoying montmarte, Germain served us and was so lovely, group of 9 and was very patient and friendly. One of us was allergic to nuts and he didn’t have any plain croissants left so he went to a neighbouring restaurant and got her fresh baguette from the oven! He also noticed some girls hot in the sun side of the table so without asking elongated the awnings for them. Lovely, highly reccomend. Also such reasonable prices ! Nutella crepes for €7 in the middle of montmarte was so ideal

Perfect dinner in Montmartre!
We visited La Mère Catherine this week and it was honestly the highlight of our trip. It’s hard to find a spot in such a popular area that feels this authentic, but this place nailed it.
The onion soup was incredible—exactly what you dream of when you think of Paris. The duck was cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious and full of flavor.
What really stood out, though, was the staff. The service was brilliant—super professional but also very warm and welcoming. If you’re looking for great food and a fantastic atmosphere on Montmartre, don't miss this one. We’ll definitely be back!

My husband & I enjoyed our final evening in Paris with a lovely dinner at Chez Marie! Our dinner included beef tartare which I had waited all week for! It did not disappoint! Loved every bite. Delicious food (best we have had in Paris) - onion soup, burrata peach salad, beef bourguignon. All was fantastic. Also got a Hugo spritz and espresso martinis- would recommend both. Wonderful service with Victor who was friendly and helpful, and great ambiance. 10/10 would recommend!

Absolutely fantastic experience at Le Tire-Bouchon Montmartre.
We had the beef bourguignon, which was incredible — super rich, deeply flavoursome and beautifully cooked — as well as the duck canard, which was equally exceptional.
The service was amazing. The staff were so attentive and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask — almost like they were psychic. Friendly, professional and genuinely welcoming throughout the whole meal.
The restaurant itself is in a beautiful location in Montmartre and has a lovely authentic Parisian atmosphere.
Exceptional food, outstanding service and a wonderful setting. Easily 5 stars and somewhere we would definitely return to.

I went here with my family tonight and the staff were wonderful. The food was excellent and they had some very nice live music. I had the beef bourguignon, and others had ravioli, onion soup, the steak and fries, and a chocolate crepe. All was very good. My wife came here a couple years ago and had such a good time she wanted the rest of us to experience it.
Jess Runge★★★★★
The food is sooo delicious here. We had the bœuf bourguignon. I tried it last year for the first time and came back to have it again. It’s probably the best in town. Prices are affordable and very competitive to the other restaurants. 26 for this amazing stew. The atmosphere is really nice and even has life music in the background. Sounds really nice. The waiter is helped us to learn some new french words.

Solid lunch. Duck confit was decent, nothing special. Burrata, Foie gras and escargot were all good. Crepe was also tasty, salmon tartare was average.

Small cute place. Waiters are really nice and lively. I had the 34€ dinner course (i chose onion soup, beef tartare, chocolate mousse and drink). It was delicious. Beef tartare was fresh I can say it’s safe to eat it here because I have a really sensitive stomach and nothing happened. And they brought a beautiful mashed potato too.

Very nice French restaurant.
We had the onion soup (one of the best we had in Paris) the beef stew (great!!) and the burger (ok). The mouse au chocolates was really good as well. And all for a very fair price and with nice service.
Chris Bellard★★★★★
This was our favorite place that we ate in Paris.
Food: We had 2 appetizers, the onion soup and we also had the boiled eggs with homemade mayo. The onion soup was excellent but the eggs and mayo were a surprise hit. For our plats we had the boef bourguignon and it came with cheesy mashed potatoes which were so delicious. For desert, we had the cafe gourmand and it was very good.
Service: We went when it first opened so it wasn't busy but our waitress Juliette was phenomenal. She really took great care of us!
Atmosphere: It's a very charming little place in the heart of Montmartre.
In closing, I can't recommend this place enough, you won't be disappointed if you decide to eat here!
SL Elemental★★★★★
This little gem had excellent food and service. We had the Beef Bourguignon with Gratin Dauphinois. Beef was so tender and delicious with rich gravy. Potatoes awesome, creamy and cheesy perfection. We finished off with a rich chocolate mousse.
This place is small and mighty!
Martin Samuelsson★★★★★
Great cozy place to try some French cuisine. We had the onion soup for starters, the beuff bourgounge and sausage fried in duck fat and chocolate mousse as dessert. The food was amazing. Rich complex flavors. The soup and beuff bourgounge was hearty and was really nice after walking around a rainy and cold Paris.
My favorite was the sausage that was served with a green salad and vinegrette. The main dishes was served with mash potatoes, which was really creamy and good tasting, but it was too much cheese in it.
The chocolate mousse was made to perfection. You need to try it.
Super happy with this experience. I highly recommend you to try it out.

Le Lamarck was a great dining stop. The food was excellent, and I ordered the grilled duck breast with risotto, which was rich, well-prepared, and very satisfying. I sat out on the patio, which made the meal feel relaxed and enjoyable, especially after walking around the area.
The staff were also helpful and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. It is a nice place for a slower sit-down meal, with good food, a pleasant outdoor setting, and friendly service.

This review is long overdue.
We were the first people in the restaurant (last table by the window), but by the time we left the place was packed. We were greeted by the owner, who told us about the specials of the day. We speak just a smattering of French, so he switched to English.
Bread arrived at our table, along with a bottle of wine (Croix de Pretres) he recommended. We ordered Croquettes, venison bavette, entrecote, and a lovely dessert (yogurt and dried fruits?). We asked about an after-dinner drink to go with the dessert, and he produced a sort of brandy made of dried prunes (Veille prunes). Our meal was perfectly cooked, and the evening perfectly paced. The atmosphere was both cozy and lively.
We liked it so much we returned twice more (and at our same table) – and we were only in Paris for 8 days. Looking forward to our return in October 2027 for the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre
Gaston 1★★★★★
(sorry for the bad photo the food was too good that I forgot to take one earlier)
Our friend suggested this restaurant and we were not let down, the waiters spoke perfect English and were very polite and helpful.
My partner wanted risotto and I wanted the steak by she got too nervous while trying to speak french that she also ordered the steak, and I can say it was delicious.
This restaurant is a little more tucked out of the way to some of the more busy restaurants in the area, but I would highly recommend making the climb to get to it.
Tow points to beware
The steps, unless you are young and fit. You can take a tram lift up (included in the metro day pass)
Don't use metro Barbès - Rochechouart, dangerous area where we were nearly pick pocketed.

After visiting Sacre Coeur Bisilica, we went to this restaurant which is nearby. We ordered duck breast, duck confit, risotto and pasta. The food and service were excellent. We loved the duck breast in particular and so we ordered another dish. The dessert of pavlova was indeed a pleasant surprise. This meal was one of the best during our stay in Paris.
Kimberley Martin★★★★★
Such lovely service! We were skeptical as it’s so close to the sacre coeur and thought it could be a tourist trap but the food was incredible and the service was just so lovely! This has been our best meal in Paris- thank you!

Food was very good and staff was fine. Coffee was good as well. It was not crowded when we arrived, so we were seated straight away, no reservation needed. Prices are a bit on a higher range. It was raining outside so we were sitting inside, but during sunny days I believe outside option seems great as well.

Great service and a fantastic location. It's the perfect spot for people watching while enjoying a glass of wine or a cold drink surrounded by the artwork of local artists. It's inspiring to think that legendary painters like Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh once walked these same streets, adding to the charm and history of the experience.

Our favorite spot for people watching in Montmartre! Food is always tasty, wine selection is great, the waitstaff is helpful and attentive. You can get a blanket to enjoy sitting outside to watch artists work in the square with the Sacre Coeur dome in the background. We’ve been coming here for years, every time we visit Paris we grab a glass of wine here. Definitely recommend! A*

We came to Paris for a week with my friend and his family, and we were searching for a place to have a quality dinner at, so we tried out this restaurant.
Everyone of the staff team was so lovely that words cannot express that, and also the food was SO elegantly delicious and tasteful, we are so glad to choose to eat here. Thank you guys for your service, much Love from Hungary!

We had the sea bream and the duck, which was absolutely wonderful. It was followed by the pistachio creme brûlée, the portion was too much for one person, but it was good and not too sweet. Best to share it with 2-3 people!
Nice .ly7★★★☆☆
The service was quick, there were two servers for this small restaurant, one was friendly while the other seemed a lot more indifferent. The food was okay but we expected more for the price point. The portions were unsatisfactory, one meal arrived completely cold, the other warm-ish. Overall the food lacked seasoning, it tasted rather bland, although is was beautifully plated. The best thing was probably the juice they had. That being said, the atmosphere of the place is great, a small restaurant in the middle of Montmartre.
Tips for Dining Near Sacré-Cœur
Dining in a high-traffic tourist area like Montmartre requires a bit of strategy. To ensure you have the best possible experience and avoid common pitfalls, consider the following advice from local dining experts.
Venture Beyond the Funicular
The restaurants with terraces directly at the base of the basilica often rely on the view rather than the quality of the food. For a superior meal, walk five to ten minutes down the hill toward the rue des Abbesses or rue Caulaincourt. You will find better prices, more attentive service, and menus designed for repeat local customers rather than one-time visitors.
Reserve Your Table in Advance
Parisian dining rooms, especially those with high ratings, are small and fill up quickly. If you have your heart set on a specific restaurant for dinner, booking a table online or by phone is essential. This is particularly true on weekends when Parisians from other arrondissements travel to Montmartre for a night out.
Understand the French Service Hours
French kitchens typically close between lunch and dinner service. Do not expect to find a full meal at 4:00 PM or 11:00 PM. Lunch is usually served from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, and dinner service begins around 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Plan your visit to the basilica around these times to avoid waiting outside a closed restaurant.
Look for the "Fait Maison" Label
To guarantee you are eating freshly prepared food rather than reheated industrial products, look for the "fait maison" (homemade) logo on the menu or window. This certification ensures that dishes are cooked from scratch on the premises. If you do not see the logo, asking the server which dishes are homemade is a common and acceptable practice.
Embrace the Set Menu (Formule)
For the best value, order the "formule" or "menu du jour." This usually includes an appetizer (entrée), a main course (plat), and sometimes a dessert for a fixed price. It is often significantly cheaper than ordering à la carte and gives you a taste of what the chef is currently sourcing from the market.
The neighborhood of Montmartre remains one of the most magical places to dine in the capital, provided you choose wisely. The clinking of glasses, the smell of butter and herbs, and the distant sound of street musicians create an atmosphere that is undeniably Parisian.
By stepping away from the main tourist thoroughfare and selecting a restaurant that values its craft, your meal will become a highlight of your trip. Bon appétit!
