Finding a comfortable place to stay in Paris does not have to drain your travel budget before you even buy a croissant. While the area surrounding the Arc de Triomphe is known for its prestige, Haussmannian architecture, and luxury shopping, there are plenty of hidden gems that offer excellent value.
The key is knowing where to look and understanding the layout of the surrounding arrondissements. The 8th, 16th, and 17th districts converge near the monument, creating a diverse mix of neighborhoods with varying price points and atmospheres.
Staying near the Arc de Triomphe puts you at the center of the action with unmatched access to the Champs-Élysées, the Seine, and the Eiffel Tower. It also provides incredible Metro connectivity via Charles de Gaulle–Étoile, making it easy to explore the rest of Paris.
However, "budget" in this part of Paris is relative. You are unlikely to find hostel prices, but you can certainly find clean, charming, and safe hotels that offer significantly lower rates than their five-star neighbors.
These budget-friendly options often trade expansive lobbies and room service for authenticity, character, and unbeatable locations. By saving on your accommodation, you free up funds for museum passes, dining, and experiences that truly matter.
We have analyzed local rates, guest reviews, and location benefits to curate a list of properties that deliver the best value for your euro. Whether you are a solo traveler, a couple, or a small family, there is an affordable option waiting for you near the iconic arch.
Here are the top picks for budget-conscious travelers looking to stay in the heart of Paris.

Overall we had a good stay at this hotel. Service is friendly. The room is clean & comfortable. The air conditioning is good.
The hotel is well located, close to arc de triomphe. We could walk there, & to shops around the hotel, with no problems.
Perhaps the hotel could consider having a shower screen or curtain in the bathroom? Tried to be careful, but had to wipe the floor after every shower to ensure the floor wasn't wet, as water had splashed on the floor.

Overall, I had a good experience at this hotel. The hotel was clean, in a great location close to attractions and public transportation, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I felt safe and comfortable during my stay.
The main downside was the size of the room. The room was very small, which made it uncomfortable to move around, especially with luggage.
Despite the limited space, I appreciated the cleanliness, convenient location, friendly staff, and the feeling of safety during my stay.

Bad smells coming from the bathroom and the bed. The service is good and the location is good, but in my opinion the hotel should have fewer than 3 stars. It’s fine for a short stay. The cost is too high for this kind of hotel

We stayed at the Riviera Elysées Hotel for 2 nights during our trip to Paris. The location is excellent — only about 500 meters from the Arc de Triomphe, which makes it perfect for sightseeing and exploring the city.
The rooms are quite small, but they have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The most important thing for us was that the hotel was very quiet at night, which allowed us to rest well after long days of walking and excursions.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing because there were no fruits or muesli, only bread and croissants. However, the coffee was very tasty and plentiful, which was a great start to the morning.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for a tourist visit to Paris. The location is simply fantastic!

On this occasion I will let the photos do the work. I've included a shot of the room, the TV remote, the shower with mouldy ceiling and the mould above the window.
I couldn't capture on camera the damp bed sheets upon getting into them, the cold room, the annoying clicking noise made by the heating/Aircon unit or the smell of the drains emanating from the direction of the bathroom.
This is not what I would expect from a room that €50 per night. I paid €319.
It is close to the Arc de Triomphe though.

stayed here for the BTS concert - the hotel is really nice and i would definitely stay here again! the staff were very friendly, breakfast is normal cold buffet (very tasty pastries) and the room is nice too. there is no kettle though and the walls are a bit thin, the hair dryer is some kind of old school one but these are minor things, overall the hotel was great! the location is also perfect - very safe area, very beautiful and metro is like 2 steps away. there are also many cafes and restaurants around, really lovely area for a hotel.

Had a lovely 2-night stay here in June. Welcoming staff, fantastic location near Arc de Triomphe and with a Metro station right outside. Didn't have breakfast here but can recommend the boulangeries within a minutes walk of the hotel for coffee and pastries. Windows did a good job of keeping outside noise out. Shower pressure was excellent. Merci beaucoup!

We had the best stay here. The location is so perfect being just a few minutes walk from the Arc De Triomph, convenience stores, subway and Champs-Élysées. Our room was so nice and spacious - so many extras were included such as shower caps, cotton buds, soap etc which was very appreciated. Amazing AC. We had room 703 and we were so happy with it. Such a cute Parisian view out our window as we were on the top floor in the roof. Our bathroom had a large window too which was a huge bonus! Amazing shower w/ integrated bath and great pressure. Reception staff were lovely and very accommodating of us unfortunately not speaking French. The bed was ok and the pillows were very flat, however I asked reception for an extra pillow and they were very accommodating. I will say the breakfast is very basic and the staff come across as quite rude, however I do believe the language barrier caused this. Breakfast was included in our package, however I don’t recommend paying the €13 + for it if it wasn’t already included as it’s very basic and you have to pay extra for hot food! Although they do have cold meats (chicken & ham) and I made a sandwich with it for my breakfast. Overall such a great stay and we would definitely stay again! We paid less than $500 AUD for 3 nights in August with breakfast and it absolutely exceeded our expectations!

Amazing hotel near the Arch Triumph.
The staff was also amazing during my stay.
The only downside is the room was a bit old but for the price we paid I couldnt recommend other place than this in Paris.

Solid hotel in a good location for tourism. Hotel on a quiet side street. Rooms are clean and size is fine. I had a nice window view looking out over the street. Elevator is very nice for a small hotel in Paris. Receptionists were pleasant and available 24 hours a day. Price is good for the value.
Only thing i didn’t like was that you leave the key with the receptionist when you come and go. Probably because they are too cheap to change to card key locks and customers kept losing the traditional keys. But emphasizes to the guest that you are being watched/tracked.

The hotel was perfect for my husband and I. The staff - front desk and housekeeping - were all wonderful and so accepting of us as tourists, especially considering we know very little French. The hotel is in the PERFECT location. A short walk from the Eiffel Tower while still being in a quiet, clean area of the city. We visited several of the restaurants on the same block of the hotel and they were all incredible. The hotel breakfast was also incredible and was a competitive price to nearby cafes.
The hotel rooms are small - BUT that is to be expected in Paris. Keep that difference in mind if you are used to larger accommodations (such as hotels in the United States), and the Hotel Elysees Bassano is a perfect place to stay.

The receptionist “ Gerard Ageno “ was rude and unprofessional. When I listened to a WhatsApp voice message, he spoke to me disrespectfully and told me to get earphones. He could have handled the situation politely, but his attitude toward me as a client was unacceptable.

An amazing stay at Élysée Bassano Hotel! The booking process was smooth, the room was spotless, and the service was excellent. The location is perfect—just steps from the Champs-Élysées. The multilingual staff were incredibly welcoming and made everything easy. Highly recommended!

One of the best hotel stays I've had. Communicated with me throughout the weeks leading up to my stay, and accommodated my requests at every turn. Extremely courteous staff who clearly worked hard, were diligent, and cared about their profession. As somebody who grew up in Japan, I would say that the French service is on par with that found in Japan. Beautiful view, and easy access to a station (George V). Rooms are quiet, showers are nice, and beds comfortable. This will be on my list for my future visits. Au revoir until next time!

Having never been to Paris, I was hoping I booked a nice hotel in a decent location. Both of these were true. But the staff truly made the stay exceptional. They gave great recommendations, helped with our very heavy luggage even when the elevator was out of operation, and went above and beyond to help me find restaurants to accommodate my allergies. This is a in chic neighborhood close to high end luxury brand stores. But the price of the hotel did not reflect this! The rooms were a good size and very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. The arc de triumph is very close and the Eiffel Tower is a 20 minute walk away too.

I booked last minute because my Airbnb fell through. This hotel has a beautiful reception with a really kind and helpful receptionist (Nadia), the entire place is very clean, bed was very comfortable, clean little pot with good instant coffee, soap and shampoo are provided bountifully, and the list goes on. Don’t let the relatively affordable rates trick you- it’s a very nice stay in my opinion. I would definitely stay here again.

I completed my reservation on the Booking app for my family, and I was shocked that as the travel date approached, the reservation was canceled. When I searched again, I saw that the prices for the same place and the same dates had increased!
It is unacceptable to be forced into a cancellation without any prior notice, and it is not my fault if they no longer want to offer the previous price!
Paris is crowded with tourists, and it isn’t easy to find a hotel near the city center. Now I am in a difficult situation because the hotel canceled my reservation!
I wish there was an option for a negative rating, because even one star is more than you deserve.

Do not believe the photos they post. The room is tiny and dirty. No service! No A/C! The fan is broken. I ordered a double room, and here is what I got.

Overall, I had a very pleasant stay here. I chose this hotel for my first night in Paris right after arriving, and it turned out to be a great choice.
The hotel is quite small, but it has several strong advantages.
1. Excellent location
It’s about a 15-minute walk to the Arc de Triomphe, making it perfect for an evening stroll. There was also a local market nearby, and the neighborhood felt safe and charming. 😇
2. Clean and well-organized room
The room was very compact, but clean and neatly maintained. It had all the basic amenities we needed, and the view from the room was lovely.🤩
3. Breakfast
Breakfast was served in a cute and cozy little café-style space. There was a nice selection of pastries, bread, fruit, and coffee. At €14, I found it to be quite reasonable for central Paris.☕️
I would also like to thank Paul for his help — there was an issue with card preauthorization before arrival, but he kindly confirmed my reservation for payment on-site, which I really appreciated. 😊
Overall, it was a happy and comfortable one-night stay 🥖☕️

Pros:
The only acceptable aspect of this hotel was its location. Some places could be reached on foot within 30 to 40 minutes, but major attractions such as the Louvre were still far enough that using the metro or Uber was the better option. So even the location was only average, not a real strength.
Cons:
Almost everything else about this hotel was disappointing. The room was extremely small, the bed was so uncomfortable that we went down to reception on two separate nights to complain, and absolutely nothing was done about it. When we entered the room, the towels that had supposedly been prepared for us were unacceptable: one was dirty and another was damaged, with threads hanging off it. I had to go back to reception again and replace the towel myself. The room amenities were also extremely poor. Even the tea setup was incomplete to the point that there was not even a proper teaspoon, just a small wooden stick. Everything in the room felt cheap, low quality, and far below what should be expected for this price.
What made this even worse was the service. The staff were not polite and made us feel uncomfortable by constantly pushing French during interactions instead of simply communicating in a helpful and respectful way. On top of that, the pricing felt dishonest. When we asked the hotel directly, we were told the nightly price was 140 euros. However, I paid 160 euros per night through Booking, plus taxes, meaning I ended up paying around 100 euros more overall. Before booking through Booking, I had actually tried to reserve through the hotel’s own system, but my reservation was cancelled a week later. When I asked why, I was told that my card had not worked. That explanation made no sense, because the same card worked perfectly on Booking and throughout the rest of my trip. This hotel does not deserve the money it charges. The room, the bed, the poor quality items provided, the lack of care, and the rude attitude of the staff made this one of the worst hotel experiences I have had.
Summary:
Paris was amazing, but this hotel was the worst part of the entire trip. I think, you can find way better hotels in this price range.
Manjunath Gokare★★★★☆
Rooms are small but convenient location and good value. One major comment- hotel needs to provide bar soap or body wash and good shampoo for guests to shower. Tiny hand soaps are provided for showering. That really does not work- not for us, sorry. We had to go out and buy Dove bar soaps!

We spent a week at Hotel Niel at the end of July. It was perfect for our family. The family room easily fit our family of four, and the rest of the group was just up the stairs in double rooms. The rooms were clean and well-appointed. The staff was extremely helpful. We ate breakfast at the hotel each morning and found it perfect for our needs. We would stay here again without question.

Very nice, clean room! The bed and linens were super comfortable. Crazy amount of water pressure in the shower! And a terrific bidet toilet seat! The breakfast was great, all the buffet items you expect, plus wonderful made to order eggs and fantastic coffee!!

The staff are so friendly and ready to help with any question you have. The room was clean and had good AC. We very much enjoyed our stay. The only thing is that the mini fridge in our room did not work. The staff offered to keep a couple things in main fridge in the lobby which was so nice but they should have said that they were working on getting a new mini fridge.

A wonderful hotel and in close proximity to most of the city attractions! The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. Very clean room and lobby. We loved being able to open the windows and hear the bustling city in the distance. Perfect stay!

Wonderful service! The rooms were great, the only reason we give 4 star instead of 5 is it was a little cramped with all of our bags. BUT room was very comfortable and clean! Location is about 10-15min walk to the metro and the arc du triumph.
The staff is very professional and very friendly. They definitely care about their guests! We would stay again.
Valentina Greco★★☆☆☆
I don't even know where to start.... let's start with the positive things: quite friendly staff but as far as I could see little attention to detail towards the customers, taxi service ok.
Negative: starting from the request for a security deposit equal to the first night many days before check-in day (1 week before) when we booked a room with a "pay at the hotel" option therefore flexible rate..... and the "don't worry we don't take that money is only for cautional" guess what? They take it and I'm still waiting for them to return it even if they said "at the moment of the check out you javelin it back."...
Then, the room... oh boy!... I'm attached some photos because someone can say "you are overreacting."
The ventilation fan was completely dirty, paid the room for 3 people €280 with taxes included without breakfast at the additional amount if you wanted €18 per person but that's another story, the dirty pop toilet, fridge not working with something dripping inside and not cleaned since the war years.
Mirror light in the bathroom not working and extremely small room for three, if you don't have the space to accommodate three people in one room don't do it.
To conclude, if you need it for a night like us who had a concert nearby ok, but I don't recommend it for other reasons.

Two Bedroom Unit: my rating of two stars is solely for the two bedroom unit that I stayed in for two nights. Basically it looks to be a studio apartment that they shoehorned in a small bedroom. Voilà it became a two bedroom. The bedroom is tiny and the curtains don’t cover the windows so light from the other room invaded the tiny room. Being from America, I don’t know if it’s usual for French bedrooms to have windows looking in on another bedroom. Even though it was April and the weather was low 50s at night the bedroom became hot when the door was closed. My recommendation is to not rent a two bedroom unit in this place. The location of the place is fantastic and safe. The building has a small elevator but it beats taking the stairs with luggage. Like others have stated expect the bathroom floor to get soaked when taking a shower as the small drain doesn’t get rid of water fast enough. I would stay here again but only in a one bedroom unit.
Mick Flynn★★★★★
Location cannot be beaten. 5 minutes from the Champs Elysses and Metro. Incredibly easy to access the apartment via keypad. The company was constantly in contact via email. Apartment very well equipped and warm. Loved it.
Antonina Kuz★★★☆☆
My sister and I stayed there for two nights. The location was definitely the best aspect of our stay, and I was aware from previous reviews that the rooms are quite small. However, we were disappointed by the cleanliness of our room. It felt like the floor hadn’t been cleaned in ages, and the bathroom appeared to have been wiped down quickly, as there were stains everywhere. Additionally, the shower sink was blocked, and the water drained extremely slowly. Overall, the cleanliness could definitely use some improvement.
adel Alzahrani★☆☆☆☆
A very bad experience with this hotel, no air conditioning nor windows. They put a fan in the room that made my eyes itch, and if you wish to keep the fan on then the light will be on, if you want to switch the light off at night to sleep, the fan will be switched off as well. Very dirty bedsheets. I asked for my checkout to be 11:30 instead of 11:00 due to my driver will arrive this time, they rejected and said “you can wait in any nearby coffee shops” . Never staying there again and not recommending it to anyone.
Glenn Clemann★☆☆☆☆
The hotel cancelled my long-standing booking, without notice, a week before I was due to arrive. I was left with very little time to find a hotel in Paris during its peak tourism season and the finishing stage of the Tour de France. Needless to say, the prices were substantially higher for similar or even lesser accommodation.

Great little hotel with a warm, welcoming staff. Rooms are freshly renovated and comfortable. It is very close by foot to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Élysées. The street is very quiet at night, as there are few restaurants or bars within several blocks BUT there are tons a few minutes away. Good price vs quality ratio.

As an American, I find all of the rooms in Europe to be small. But our room was very well laid out and comfortable. The area is not too touristy, but it is close to the Arc d'Triumph and the metro. And the best part was the woman who worked behind the desk that made us feel so welcome and was so helpful. I strongly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience.
Premium room got us a spacious, clean and convenient place to rest after those long and exhausting Paris promenades and museum visits. Highly quiet and comfortable, very effective aircon, large comfy bed.
The floormat was very clead and also was the big and convenient bathroom, with a huge shower and high-pressure watter supply.
Towels and bedding also on the higher side.
The location us also very convenient. Lots of bus lines and metro line 2. Short distance from L'Etoile and a clean and classy Paris neighborhood.
Only drawback is the TV is not smart, so you have to stay on terrestrial tv channels—no football world cup!

I stayed here with my daughter for 4 nights in June 2026. There was a record heatwave throughout Paris and our room (12) was tiny with no air conditioning. The inside temperature of the room did not drop below mid-30 during the night which made it impossible to sleep. Opening the window made no difference at all - in fact just let more baking hot air in. We were shocked that a hotel in a major European city would not have AC. On night one I went to ask the reception if we could buy water and I was practically barked at by the man on the desk, told to “get in line” even though I was the only person in the reception other than himself; told to “bring the bottles back in the morning or risk a fine”. The location of the hotel is great - 20 mins walk to the Champs Elysees and 5 min walk from the metro station, which is also where we found a great little cafe for breakfast each morning.

Great location. Very close to a bus stop and a train station. Walking distance to Arc de Triomphe. Very friendly staff. We had a nice clean small room.

A completely substandard place. On our first evening we went to ask for an extra blanket, and the receptionist practically yelled at us and refused to give one. The breakfast was terrible — for example, on the last morning the bread had been taken straight from the freezer and tasted strange. There was no safe in the room, and parts of the bathroom walls were moldy. Noise from other rooms could be heard clearly through the walls.
The only good thing was the location near the metro and a grocery store. We won’t be coming back. I recommend avoiding this place.

Our family of four adults stayed here for one night, and we thought the hotel was GREAT! There was enough space for all of us in one room, the beds were comfy, the location was excellent, and the staff went WAY above & beyond in providing helpful service. The hotel is right near the metro station and an easy walk to the Arc de Triomphe. When we return to Paris, we will definitely be staying here again.

Our family of four had a wonderful stay last week. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the room was very clean and just what we needed. It was a charming room for our family, and we would stay here again. Keep in mind the elevator is very small, and we had a little trouble getting all our luggage up, but we did it! The elevator says three people can fit in there but honestly probably just two at a time. The neighborhood is beautiful with wonderful shops. And there is a laundromat not too far away if you need to launder clothes.

Do not stay here!!! This hotel is maybe one step up from a hostel—and even that feels generous. They literally rent rooms by the afternoon. Need I say more? I have never in my life checked into a hotel and immediately felt as unsafe and uncomfortable as I did here.
Thankfully, we never even unpacked. We took one look around and knew there was absolutely no way we were staying. Gross. No thank you.
We were incredibly lucky to find the last available room at the Sax that night, and the difference was immediate. From the second we got out of the car, we were greeted with the warmest welcome, upgraded, and personally walked to our room while they showed us how everything worked. It was night and day.
I honestly don’t have anything positive to say about the Hidden Hotel, and I never write reviews like this, but I hope this saves someone else the headache of scrambling to find another hotel at midnight.
Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere!

This was my third stay at Hidden Hotel Paris, and once again, I had a wonderful experience.
I stayed for two nights, and from the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome and comfortable. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and attentive, and they always went the extra mile to accommodate any special requests.
Their warm and personal hospitality is what makes this hotel feel like a true home away from home. The atmosphere is peaceful, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is very convenient.
A big thank you to the entire Hidden Hotel team for making my stay so enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back again.

Had the best stay at this hotel. The welcome we had after a long travel day was much needed and in fact the service and attention to detail from all staff members was superb. Comfortable rooms and a super comfortable bed (and I'm extremely picky about my bed!!) Location was only a short 5 minute stroll to the arch de triumph. We felt comfortable as a family, walking around the streets after dark and explored many of the local cafes and bakeries. Would happily return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hidden Hotel is an amazing boutique gem in a fantastic, safe, and central location right by the Arc de Triomphe. It’s perfectly situated for getting anywhere in Paris.
We did experience an issue with our AC on the first night, but the way the team handled it was absolutely world-class. Guillaume at the front office and Ijlal, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We were moved and upgraded to a beautiful new room with AC and everything included.
Incredible service that turned a minor hiccup into an unforgettable stay. Highly recommend this hotel, and a huge thank you to Ijlal and Guillaume!

Very disappointed with my three-night stay. This is far from a boutique hotel experience. It feels more like an upgraded hostel.
Everything is tiny, the room finishes are very average, and services are almost non-existent: no gym, no restaurant, impossible to have a glass of wine at 8pm as the bar is already closed, and poor-quality self-service coffee. At night, there was also a loud mechanical noise resonating through the walls.
The hotel is well located and the bed is comfortable. It could suit a student looking for somewhere to spend a night in Paris, but definitely not for a business stay.
I was also spoken to in a very unpleasant and confrontational manner by a member of staff. The manager was very kind and apologised, which I appreciated, but this remains completely unacceptable.
For my next business trip to Paris, I will definitely stay elsewhere.
How to Save Even More on Your Stay
Finding a cheap room is only half the battle; how you book and when you travel can drastically reduce your final bill. The hospitality industry in Paris fluctuates wildly based on fashion weeks, trade shows, and tourist seasons. By applying a few strategic booking habits, you can often secure a room in a higher-star category for the price of a budget one. The following tips will help you maximize value without compromising on the quality or safety of your trip.
- Travel in the Off-Season: The most effective way to slash prices near the Champs-Élysées is to visit between November and March, excluding the Christmas and New Year period. You will find rates can drop by as much as 40% compared to June or September.
- Look for "Cabine" or "Single" Rooms: If you are traveling solo or are a couple who packs light, book a "Cabine" room. These are smaller, often interior-facing rooms that offer the exact same hotel amenities and location for a fraction of the price of a street-view room.
- Book Non-Refundable Rates: If your travel dates are set in stone, always choose the non-refundable or "Advance Purchase" rate. Hotels reward guests who commit early with significant discounts, sometimes up to 20% off the flexible rate.
- Skip the Hotel Breakfast: While convenient, hotel breakfasts in Paris can cost between €12 and €25 per person. You are staying near some of the best boulangeries in the world; step outside and get a coffee and a fresh pastry for under €5.
- Leverage Loyalty Programs and Credit Card Portals: Even if you are not a frequent traveler, signing up for a hotel chain’s free loyalty tier can unlock member-only rates or free Wi-Fi. Additionally, check your credit card travel portal for cash-back offers or points redemption on boutique hotels.
- Stay on the "Other" Side of the Arch: The 17th arrondissement side of the Arc (toward Ternes or Wagram) is often slightly cheaper than the 8th or 16th side. You are literally a five-minute walk from the monument but pay less because the zip code is considered less "golden."
Walking out of your hotel and seeing the Arc de Triomphe illuminated at night is a quintessential Paris experience that should not be reserved for the ultra-wealthy. With a bit of research and flexibility, you can secure a room that offers safety, cleanliness, and a prime location without exceeding your budget.
Remember that in Paris, your hotel is mostly a place to sleep and recharge. By choosing one of the budget-friendly options above, you ensure that your money is spent on creating memories in the city rather than on a bed you will hardly use.
