12 Budget-Friendly Hotels near Place des Vosges

Finding an affordable place to stay in Paris can feel like an impossible task, especially when you want to be in the heart of the city’s history. The area surrounding Place des Vosges is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the capital, known for its stunning architecture, art galleries, and quiet, aristocratic charm. Unlike the bustling commercial districts, the Marais offers a more residential and romantic atmosphere, which often comes with a premium price tag.

However, staying near this iconic square does not require you to empty your savings account. With a bit of local knowledge and flexibility, you can find comfortable accommodations that leave you with plenty of money for croissants and museum tickets. The key is to look just beyond the immediate perimeter of the square, where prices drop slightly while you remain within easy walking distance of the action.

The 3rd and 4th arrondissements, along with the northern edges of the 11th and 12th, offer a variety of budget-friendly options. These areas are well-connected by metro lines 1, 5, and 8, meaning you can reach the square in minutes. Whether you are a solo traveler, a couple on a romantic getaway, or a family looking for practicality, the neighborhood has something to suit your needs without compromising on safety or convenience.

When searching for value in this part of Paris, it is important to manage your expectations regarding space. Hotel rooms in historic buildings are often compact, but they make up for it with character, exposed beams, and prime locations. The best budget hotels here prioritize cleanliness, friendly service, and a good night’s sleep over sprawling square footage.

We have analyzed the local hospitality market to identify properties that offer the best value for money. These selections balance reasonable nightly rates with high guest satisfaction, ensuring you do not sacrifice comfort for cost. From charming boutique stays to reliable chain hotels, the options below prove that you can sleep near the Marais without a luxury budget.

Choosing a hotel in this area means you can enjoy early morning walks under the arcades of Place des Vosges before the crowds arrive. You can have breakfast at a local boulangerie, wander through the Musée Carnavalet, or simply sit in the square’s central garden with a book. It is a side of Paris that feels authentic and lived-in, far from the tourist traps of the Champs-Élysées.

Here are the best budget-friendly hotels that allow you to experience the magic of the Marais while keeping your travel budget intact.

Great location but in the summer heat, the AC doesn’t work at all. We were stuck with bearing 23 degrees in our room the entire time and were told that they have central AC all over the hotel even though they have different units in each room. Doesn’t make sense at all. Dated hotel with the smallest shower I have ever seen in a hotel. You couldn’t even reach down to scrub your feet!! Only good if you want the closest location to the main area, but for the price we paid, definitely not worth it.

Stayed here during the Olympics. I hadn't booked in advance. I booked on a night by night basis. The rates stayed the same and were very cheap considering the Olympics were in full swing. The people working in the hotel were very approachable and accommodating. Located in an area within walking and cycling distance from numerous tourist areas.

To be honest i don’t think the ratings here do it justice, but this was the best value place to stay I could find in Paris at a decent price. The rooms were not big but a fair size for Paris, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The best part is the location, Bastille is a lively neighbourhood and the hotel is right by the metro. I’d only say this place isn’t for you if you have lots of luggage and stairs will be a problem, and the wifi isn’t that great. But apart from that, good stay. The shower was very good and plenty of hot water

The rooms are compact but the service and customer care are outstanding.

Great location, friendly staff. A short walk from Gare de Lyon. V.close to the metro. Lots of restaurants/cafés and sightseeing from the door ! This is central Paris and a budget stay hotel. It's a bit rundown, however be realistic about what you receive for the amount you've paid and you'll have a great stay as we did !

My friend and I booked a private two bed hostel for a single night. We payed 78 euros about 85 usd. When we arrived we were able to wait in the common areas which was nice. The handyman guy greeted us and was one of two of the nicest employees there. When we were finally able to check into the room it was awful. They don't give u a top sheet cause you have to rent that part and if you want a towel you have to pay three euros just to rent it and they are filthy. the towel was basically dark grey when it was originally white. the rooms were so stuffy and hot and even with the windows open it didn't help at all cause the other side of the hostel blocks any chance for air flow. I genuinely thought i was going to suffocate at night and maybe got two hours max of sleep. We came downstairs for a while and the guy working night shift was so sweet and an angel to us. On another note there is an older indian man and maybe an asian woman who are both very rude, more so the women. a girl behind us in the common area had got here a few hours early and was doing her makeup at a table and the lady came over and scolded her saying that this is a table for eating and nobody wants her to be doing her makeup on the table people eat on and that it's not polite. Keep in mind nobody eats lunch or dinner in here at all. only breakfast. Then a while later i pulled my comb out just to put my hair up in a clip and her, the indian man, and some other coworker came over to me and said the same thing that it was not polite to be brushing my hair at a table where people eat at. my head wasn't even over the table. In addition, i asked about the wifi and she said it was down and not working right now the morning of our checkout. i believe that they turn it off for everyone tho. and they also kick everyone out of their rooms it was very strange. she also came and yelled at a bunch of people at the tables to quiet down cause she's trying to do her job and work as the common area for hanging out is next to the lobby/ office area where they work. Very disappointed. i did stay here during the heat wave so that could effect how i feel but genuinely this place should not be allowed to be open. Whatever you do do not stay here and stay in a nicer hostel or hotel for a similar price instead. if i could go back i 100% would have done this

A tired, run down youth hostel in need of renovation. Staff friendly but security not a priority. Went for a wander in the morning before an 11am checkout and returned at 10:30am to find the door to the private room had been left wide open by housekeeping. Take all important belongings and documents with you. Breakfast is a push given it's a cheap demi baguette and a carton of orange juice. Would recommend paying slightly more and staying elsewhere!
Raimundo Martinez★★★☆☆
I don’t understand why guests have to leave the rooms from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I was literally staying in the first room, yet they still wouldn’t let me in even when I needed to grab something. The room was small but nice, and it had a shower inside. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good too.
Sheikh Shafayat★★★☆☆
Let’s be honest: you get exactly what you pay for. The room was okay, but there was no bed sheet, which they said you have to rent. There was only one power outlet for four people’s room, which is absurd considering everyone in the room needs to charge their devices once they come back. The blankets were smelly and the basin would get clogged very quickly with water. But again for €72 for four people a night, I didn’t expect it to be much better.
Frederik Johnsin★★☆☆☆
Staff is nice, location too. That’s about it. The rooms are dirty, ours stank like a boys changing room. There was also mold and you have to pay 4€ for a bedsheet since the blankets are without any cover. Which is crazy. I’d also advise you not to put your luggage in the dedicated room for too long since it’s damp and moldy. Looks like a prison room. Honestly worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

I LOVED staying here. The location is unbeatable, very walkable and safe. Im solo traveling so safety and all women’s dorms are important. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Staff was so kind and helpful. Free lockers with codes [no lock needed] are provided for your valuables in a secured room behind reception. It was quiet [tho this varies depending on who is staying there]. The only thing is breakfast is basically just bread and apple sauce, sometimes yogurt lol. But HIGHLY recommend the stay!!!
Natalia Rakhno★★★★★
I had a wonderful stay at MIJE Fourcy in Paris. The location is perfect — right in the center of the city, which made it very easy to explore everything. We were pleasantly surprised to be given a private room. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and we had our own shower, which made the stay even better. The breakfast was excellent — simple but fresh and very enjoyable, a perfect start to the day before walking around Paris. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in the heart of Paris.

Lovely hostel in a great location — the sheets are clean and beds are already made, which is always a nice touch. A few things worth flagging though: the toilets are separate from the rooms, which I actually like, but there are no sinks in there, which is a bit of a hygiene concern. Not sure why a tap-and-toilet combo unit hasn't been fitted as a simple fix. There's also no soap in the rooms, so if you haven't brought your own, properly washing your hands is a challenge. On the plus side, breakfast is a lovely bonus — especially given the price point, when so many hostels have dropped it entirely. The one downside is the amount of single-use plastic it generates: individual jam portions, mini yoghurts and the like. Would be great to see that reconsidered.
Gill Silva★★★★★
Great Location. Easy to access using the M1 and M7. Staff at the reception and at the restaurant were very helpful. The only downside were the toilets at the common areas that were smelly and not frequent serviced. Expect a modest breakfast, enough to break your night fasting.
NICOLÁS Stingl★★★☆☆
Excellent location, specially when compared to price. Beautiful building. Stayed four nights. The bed was comfy but I didn't like the room. The room has a shower + sink which is divided by a sliding door which you cannot lock. I had the first bed which was directly in front of the bedroom door. When someone entered late at night the lights from the hallway hit you directly in your face (I don't really understand why the hall lights are SO bright, they are like those lights in movie sets). But the main thing is that you don't have a place to plug your phone near your bed, only a USB port which didn't work. I had to leave my phone in the sink at night. There was a small bathroom with two toilets in the hallway, which were ok but there wasn't any hand soap available. It's nice that they serve breakfast, but the quality could improve (I don't pretend nothing fancy). The coffee didn't taste good, it came out super burnt and you can't adjust how much of it you want, the machine fills your cup up. They offer yogurt, cereals, white bread with butter, and a store bought cake (which was the best option in my opinion). There was a bit odd smell in the cafeteria in the mornings. The shared space is nice, some couches, places to work. Comfortable. Couple of places to plug your phone, some games and books. I tried connecting to the wifi a couple of times and even though there was good signal, I had no internet connection (both in my room and in the shared space). Overall, I chose it because it was the cheapest option in a very centric place, but the room things really bothered me.

Definitely more of a motel than a hotel. The building and room didn’t feel clean. I found stray hairs and mold stains on the sheets. Service was pretty much non-existent, and staff dressed sloppily. Don’t come with expectations of a regular hotel. Positives: strong air conditioning, and my room faced a wall, so I didn’t get any street noise (it’s a busy/party street). Location is excellent, literally a minute from Bastille station and walkable to most of Paris’s sights within an hour or two.
Richard Middleton★★★★☆
Small. two star hotel, just a minute walk from Bastille metro station. Very small common areas on ground floor and very! small lift - it will only take one person and their luggage, so may need to make multiple trips. Also lift door situated between floors - given age and construction of building - so will still need to climb/descend half a dozen stairs to reach your room. Room is fine, with excellent and quiet air conditioning. TV small by modern standards and situated very high up on wall opposite bed. Curtains and windows fine, but Rue du Roquette very lively and stays active well after midnight. We were conscious of the noise, but it didn't affect our getting to sleep. Frontdesk staffed 24 hours and staff helpful. We enjoyed our 3 night stay
Victor Gabry★★★★☆
I was hosted here for 5 days and the staying couldn’t be better! The breakfast could use more protein, like eggs or some meat (salamis etc), but the rest is very French experience. It is a self service buffet from 7-9:30 and they are flexible (I am writing this after leaving at 9:50, e.g.). The rooms are very comfortable - they have heating for the winter and AC for the summer - but since I was here in April, didn’t use either. The plumbing has nice pressure and it heats or gets cold easily. About the staff: all very kind and proactive, the kind of people you like being around. Rooms are always clean and they are not masters in English but they compensate with good will and good tips on the city. Warning: elevator not always working so remember trying to book a room in the lowest floors. Localization: amazing! Near Bastille (historic site on its own), it has a station with 3 connections so you change stations very easily and get wherever you want with ease. TONS of good and varied restaurants around open until 23 and sometimes 2 in the morning, so you have food offer all day long. Highly recommend for someone who wants to know the city as authentic as it gets!
Shamin Vogel★★★★★
You get MORE than you pay for. The rooms are recently renovated. Hardwood, AC, bathrooms look decent. It even has a small elevator. But over and above I have to commend the exceptional service. I arrived early morning and was greeted with such warmth and even offered a coffee. I was able to leave my bags there before I check in and after I checked out. And when I left I even got given some ice cold water to combat the heat. The service was better than the one I experienced in some 5* places. Lots of restaurants around. Next door a great boulangerie for breakfast. Next to the station 35(!)min to orly airport.

The hotel is in a very central location, just a one-minute walk from Bastille metro station, making it perfect for exploring Paris. The neighborhood is a bit chaotic, but in a positive way: youthful and vibrant. The hotel rooms are very well soundproofed, so any noise from the nightlife outside did not bother us at all. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

Beautiful hotel with a lovely design and a fantastic atmosphere. The neighborhood is unbeatable, with plenty to explore and a great Parisian feel. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful throughout my stay. Any issue I had was handled quickly and with a great attitude, which made a huge difference and made me feel very welcome. A wonderful stay overall, and I would happily recommend this hotel.

My wife and I loved this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, the morning food and beverages were excellent, and located in Le Marais which is such a charming neighborhood. So many things close by within walking distance and the metro station is nearby too. The room was big enough to accommodate us and efficiently designed. Highly recommend!!

Great little boutique hotel in the Marais. Adorable rooms but NO AC!!!!! We loved our room and the team was very sweet. But please upgrade and get AC. The heat was sweltering and miserable.

It was a very nice stay with a great location perfect for a short trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms were good, and the breakfast was amazing. I would definitely stay here again when I visit Paris.
Becca P★★☆☆☆
Positives: The location was great, close to metro and grocery stores, and cafes. The aesthetic of the lobby and rooms are cute. Staff was very accommodating. They held our bags for us after check out so we could explore the city some more. Negatives: The beds were extremely uncomfortable. After the first night, our backs were hurting and it just got worse every night. The cleaning staff start cleaning very early on in the morning and they are so loud, they don’t seem to try to be courteous to sleeping guests at all. They also leave their cleaning stuff all over the hallway to where it almost seems like a hazard. Not to mention the walls are paper thin, we could hear water from the rooms next to ours running when they used the restroom. The elevator was very small so we couldn’t bring all our luggage up at once. There are stairs getting from when you exit the elevator to getting to your room which are very narrow and twisty. The hallway by the rooms aren’t very wide. Ceilings are a bit low, so if you’re over 6ft, your head is going to be almost touching the ceiling. Just an fyi that the Tv doesn’t have any English channels, so if you want to watch tv in English, you won’t be able to. The bathroom shower is in a tub where you have to step up pretty high to climb into it and the shower glass only covers a little less than half, so water gets on the floor when using it. When flushing the toilet, the small button to flush got stuck and wouldn’t come out so we were only able to flush using the big button. They don’t give you wash cloths so you will need to bring your own. The rooms are small, we had to rearrange a bit to get our suitcases laid out. We requested a late checkout the night before checking out and the gentleman at the desk said we could do 12pm, however, we received a call at 11:40am from a different employee at the front desk irritably saying “checkout was at 11:30 and its now 11:40”. When I told him about our approved late check out (apparently it wasn’t put into a system somewhere), he said “no, check out is at 11:30am, checkout BEFORE 12” and he hung up on me. When we got down to the desk, he said that housekeeping was pressuring with cleaning the room. It was very annoying and frustrating that one employee said one thing and another employee said another. Even though the price was more affordable than others in the area, we wouldn’t stay here again because of the uncomfortable bed, thin walls, and loud house keepers.

Petite gem! Stayed 3 nights (that unexpectedly turned into 4) - perfect location, clean, safe, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Missed my train out of Paris and had no telephone service to call the hotel. I emailed them, and they very quickly responded that they had a room available for the extra night. This hotel was a more budget friendly recommendation of Rick Steve’s, and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Twin room is a bit larger with a larger bath. Side note - the AC worked perfectly!
Susan Osborne-Allen★★☆☆☆
On the whole, this was not a good stay. I know that budget hotel rooms can be small in Paris, but these were really crammed in - you wouldn’t want to turn up with a large suitcase and certainly not two. Unfortunately on our first night, there was a rat in the ceiling trying to rearrange the electric cables. Paris is an old city and I live on a farm, so I’m not overly horrified by this (except for any potential fire risk), but I needed the sleep, so the next morning my very polite French speaking daughter asked if we could move to another room. The staff seemed unsurprised by our request and moved us without question. Unfortunately though, we stupidly left our phone chargers - one an expensive Apple flash charger - in the old room and when we tried to retrieve them, they had disappeared. The room didn’t appear to have been relet and there wasn’t much help from the staff, who directed us to a shop round the corner. This really annoyed me, because it’s just dishonest and very disappointing. The staff generally weren’t particularly welcoming, or helpful - they actually seemed more interested in their phones. The bathrooms were particularly tired and neither shower door in either room closed. The breakfast was ok, but the reception area where you eat it is tiny and you’d be hard pressed to sit down if every guest turned up at the same time. They have built a further seating area outside on the side of the road, but not sure how that works in the rain - maybe more building work is planned, but we won’t be returning to find out.
Helena Harborg★★★★★
Very good hotel. Clean, very helpful and friendly staff, and beautiful design. The rooms were nicely cooled down. The breakfast was ok (but french breakfast is usually not so luxurious), with croissants, baguettes, some spreads and marmelade, youghurt, coffee and tea. I like that there was free coffee, filtered water and small treats available for the guests the whole day.

WORST EXPERIENCE! my stay was very disappointing. The room was not clean at all, the bed blanket had a bad odor, and there was a bad smell coming from the toilet. The window didn’t close properly and stayed open, so the room was very cold. There was no toilet paper, no towels, and no soap provided. The chair and the floor were dirty, and there was no elevator. I would not recommend this hotel.

SCAM!! Don't book this hotel. I did mine thru Expedia, and it seemed like they weren't expecting me at all. The phone they had didn't reply after 5 hours after i got there. (They texted me at 11 amto check on my arrival which i reply right away and had no word till almost 8pm , even Expedia tried to called them to see why i wasny getting the room)also didn't feel safe to stay there the lady yelled at me multiple times to see over and over my confirmation number and took a lot of pictures of it. Then, I left me there with no solution either. Expedia tried to called them as well many times with no answer. The neighborhood seems a little unsafe and i didn't like how hidden this place was. The reception looked dirty too. I ended up booking another hotel at 4 pm. Proceding to Hotel brittanica at 4:30, where they process was normal with my reservation and check in. Save yourself paying for a hotel last min and talking to Expedia for an hour

I made a big, big mistake booking this hotel. No English-speaker on site. Hotel doesn’t pick up Booking.com’s phone calls nor answers their mail. Three people sat in the entrance/lobby (where there’s no computer or anything really) and neither spoke English. In French they said that none of them work there. I will be pursuing every legal action to get my money back.

Very disappointing experience. Our confirmed reservation was cancelled following a so said “security incident”involving the Booking.com account. Despite the circumstances being completely outside our control, the hotel refused to honour the reservation or offer any reasonable solution, while rooms for the same dates remained available at a much higher price. Poor handling of a serious situation and absolutely no customer care. Something still not clear.

Booked a superior twin and expected a much smaller room (since this is Paris) but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was thoughtfully positioned that allowed both 28 inch luggages to be opened (half open leaning on the wall), whilst still able to walk. There was a bathtub in the bathroom as well so this is an extremely well equipped hotel. I hung my white top on the (asssumed) drying rack and it was stained by the rust when I took it out the next day. I went to the reception on this issue and found out that popular to contrary belief, the drying rack was only for damp towels (to prevent the musky smell) and not a drying rack. The rust on the rack was due to all the improper usage (including myself). The reception helped to contact a dry cleaner to fix it (though the dry cleaner had some issues and resulted it being sent back only on the 3rd day after demanding for compensation as the white shirt initially was even more stained after sending it over). I also brought my wine down, asking for the reception to remove the cork and he ended up giving me 2 wine glasses to use. The reception is on 24/7 shift which I really appreciated as I was able to get help whenever, and all the staff were extremely helpful. Thank you for making this a pleasant stay! Take note though (I assume this is common amongst all Parisian hotel in Marais as my previous hotel a few street down was the same), that you’d be hearing police / ambulance sirens intermittently throughout the night.

Small hotel close to Metro and walking distance to the Seine. Wonderful staff, both on reception and housekeeping. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, served in a lovely atmospheric cave-like room. Have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

I love everything about this well-located and nicely decorated little boutique hotel within short walking distance of fantastic shopping and dining in the Marais. I stayed in room 5 which was across a small courtyard within a small section of only 5 rooms and it was very quiet and dark for sleeping, which was great because I asked for a quiet room. The room was small, which was fine for me as I travelled alone, and it was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was new. The bed was comfortable and there were shelves everywhere on which I could put everything. It was nice to have tea, coffee and water in the room. The employees on the front desk were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was wonderful with both hot and cold items. They had croissants/breads, scrambled and boiled eggs, hot veggies, hot and cold meats, veg, cheese, fruit and yogurts, apple sauce, along with various jams and accompaniments like Nutella etc., and coffee machine, teas and juice. It was a good value and wish I would have known about this hotel earlier and would definitely return; it feels like home.

we often stay as a family at hostels and don't bother to write reviews because overall everything is ok. here unfortunatly that was not the case. the location is great, the hostel is kept clean, the bakery located at the same building is amazing and the coffee at the Titi restaurant is good, and that's about it on the positive side. speaking of the coffee, depending on the person at the bar, you get to pay different prices for the same coffee since the guest discount is not always calculated. we stayed as 4 family members in a private 4 persons dorm, which was tiny and hot, so we had to keep the window open, so it was extremely noisy. the matresses were bad so all of us hardly got any sleep. we had some problems with the room, like a clogged sink and no hooks to hang towels, and had to report them over and over again till (most of them) were adressed. the employees at the reception were nice taking the notes. the shower is literally set to 5 seconds, after which you have to push the button hard again, and there is no place in the bathroom to hang or place your stuff. which makes showering very unconvenient. there is one kitchen for all the guests to share. it includes 2 fridges that get so overloaded that you can't find the food you stored in it. there is hardly any place available to sit and eat your food other than one bar, which is too high for a table and too small considering how many people need to use it. we enjoyed the city and will never come back or recommend this hostel
Ms. Guo★★★☆☆
The 4 ppl dorm with a bathroom is okay. It’s cleaned upon request. It has no ac or fan which is absolutely awful in summer! Opening the window means little relief as the streets are extremely loud and there’s mostly no wind. So wouldn’t recommend in summer! Also, if your bathroom is occupied you can use the shared bathrooms of your floor. However they are pretty dirty, especially the sinks and floors. And there’s a pretty weird smell to it. The location to get everywhere is quite good though. Walking distance to Notre Dame. Guests are not that social though. The offered breakfast is okay. Sometimes the baguette is hard as a stone, sometimes it’s fresh.

Upside. Great location, staff are helpful, staff in some hostels are passive aggressive, projecting their unresolved frustration to travellers like me, staff here they don’t. Great system. All organised and has the routine. Bed was made when I arrived. Thankfully heat has gone during my stay 1-4/Aug. your request is considered to be important here. Great location. Bus comes and goes close to midnight, close to metro, cite island is next to you. Massive room, so I did not feel that I am in bigger dormitory. I was lucky that my co travellers are all respectful and sensible, if anyone made excessive noise, that must have been me. Not expensive. Downside. Small dirty kitchen. Dirty Dishes were unattended. Small two fridges. Bearly able to put my food in. Massive hostel, biggest hostel I have been to, so they should have more kitchen somewhere. Towel is 4/9Euro. Two types. Still. Quite expensive. Shower water stops every 30 seconds. Plan ahead of your shower regime. Prolly one of the best hostel I have ever been to. Bc others I stayed in, were substandard. Should avoid mid summer tho , no aircon.

** AVOID IN SUMMER ** I stayed at The People Marais for 3 nights and had a bad experience. On the positive side, the location is good—about a 15-minute walk to Le Marais—and the building itself is modern, clean, and has a nice overall design. Unfortunately, there were several downsides that made the stay less enjoyable. The biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning or even fans in the rooms. During my stay, it was unbearably hot and made it very difficult to sleep. The hostel was also quite noisy. This may have been partly due to luck with my roommates, but in our 6-bed room people were constantly coming and going, talking loudly, and making noise late into the night. Another inconvenience was that the only vending machine for buying water overnight was out of service. The bathroom facilities were also disappointing. The sink had non-existent water pressure, there was no courtesy soap provided, no shelf or counter space for toiletries (other than balancing them above the toilet), not even a hook to hang a towel. It felt extremely bare and not particularly practical for travelers. Staff were not particularly friendly either. Overall, the hostel has a great location and a modern building, but the lack of basic amenities and comfort would make me think twice before staying here again.

Had a pleasant stay here. Great location. Walkable to the Notre Dame, Seine, and close to the metro. Amondigne at the reception was very kind during both check-in and check-out. They have all facilities that you can expect at a hostel, and the beds were comfy.

Our family of four arrived in Paris from Rome and were very pleased with our stay at Les Patios du Marais. The apartment was exactly as described and pictured, making it easy to settle in after our travels. The location was outstanding and one of the highlights of our stay. We were able to explore much of Paris on foot, and when needed, both the Metro and taxis were conveniently close by. We also appreciated the thoughtfulness of our host during the extreme heat wave. Two fans had been set up and were already running when we arrived, making the apartment as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. While the unusually high temperatures meant we didn’t spend much downtime inside the apartment, we enjoyed relaxing in the charming outdoor courtyard and covered hallways, where the café tables and chairs provided a pleasant, cooler place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Overall, this was an excellent home base for exploring Paris. Between the convenient location, comfortable accommodations, and attentive host, we would happily stay here again and recommend Les Patios du Marais to other travelers.

Great Location if you have a short amount of time to visit Paris! The rooms are also very clean, well maintained, and well decorated. If you are planning to book make sure that you have no problems with stairs, ours was on the 4th floor and they are very steep. We had no problems with them but other people might. The only problem I had was the service. There was a heatwave the days we were here and all I asked for was one more fan, not even for them to fix the AC, to make our stay more comfortable. All I got was that they had reached out to the “team”. I understand other people might be asking for the same but just tell us that you cant so we dont keep waiting. Anyway this stay would probably be one of the best if there was no heatwave! 🤣 If you are sensitive to heat and plan on going in the summer, find a different hotel that specifically has AC

Lovely little apartment. It was great for 3 of us. Very clean, beds very comfortable. Great location, just down the stairs we had 3 little cafes for morning coffee options, a boulangerie for all kinds of wonderful pastries, many lunch and dinner options, a wine bar. walking distance too the Louvre, the Hop o Hop off Bus. etc. We are very happy with our choice.

I was a little hesitant to book after reading some of the reviews, but I’m so glad I did. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The moment I walked in, everything smelled fresh and clean, which immediately put me at ease. As someone who used to work in property management, I know what signs to look for when it comes to cleanliness and potential pest issues. I did a thorough check of the room and found absolutely nothing concerning. The hotel itself is charming, the location is fantastic, and it offers excellent value for the price. I noticed some reviews mentioning that the rooms are small, but honestly, the room size felt very normal for Paris standards. If you’re expecting a typical Paris hotel room, you’ll likely find it perfectly comfortable. I do agree with one of the other reviews regarding the stairs. We stayed on the 5th floor, so it’s worth considering your mobility and luggage size when booking. If you’re healthy, able, and don’t mind a few flights of stairs, our 5th-floor room was great and well worth it. I can also see where some guests may have concerns about the level of service, as this is a self-check-in property. If you’re not particularly tech-savvy or prefer a traditional front desk experience, it may not be the best fit. However, for my husband and me (in our 30s and 40s), the process was incredibly easy and honestly something we preferred. It was quick, seamless, and much faster than waiting to check in with staff. Overall, this is a clean, cute hotel in a fantastic location that offers great value for the price. We had a wonderful stay and would happily stay here again.

As it was the middle of a very hot heatwave and temps were up to 40°c the "Iceluxe" unit did not really cut it. The studio is on the top floor (4th) and the main bed has v limited head space between it and the roof of the building.. so it was hot, hot hot!!. The decor of the studio is good and the building has a rustic charm. The shaded communal patios were a god send. However considering the wider situation not having in person reception or contact for reassurance and local knowledge was a noticeable deficit.

I had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. I was here for three nights and had a tasty dinner in the bistro also. Highlights: Very good location near Bastille and central Paris Lovely friendly staff - everyone was nice and welcoming Room was very clean Authentic and less touristy Fairly low cost compared to many hotels in Paris Comfortable bed Tasty home made food in the bistro (I had the home made slow cooked lamb shank which was delicious) Please bear in mind that it is a basic hotel. My room was small with minimal facilities. I had an en-suite shower/toilet/basin and everything worked well. Pillows were a bit lumpy and some of the towels slightly frayed but clean and in plentiful supply. I read reviews where noise is a problem but I slept quite well with the window closed - it’s a lively neighbourhood at night with people out enjoying themselves and being jolly. The neighbourhood feels quite safe. Overall I am pleased with my stay in this warm and welcoming authentic French bistro hotel.

I was recommended this bar by a Parisian work colleague. It's very authentic. It's in a more less touristy area. The prices are very reasonable and the service was excellent. We didn't have any food as we were going to a nearby restaurant but next time we would eat here.

Do NOT PICK this hotel if you want a good nights sleep. It’s cheap for a reason. The food might be good, but nothing else about this hotel is worth staying a night. I should have known at the beginning when the person checking us in said we were better off with a room high up because of the noise from the bar. Well that noise is soooo loud that it keeps you awake. AND the noise doesn’t stop till 6am when the bars shut! Why they didn’t give us a room at the back of the hotel? The worst was being woken up at 5 minutes to midnight after I had fallen asleep with the help of my white noise app in my ears…wait for it…to pay a €4 bill for tourist tax. I had to get my Google translate out and asked if I could pay in the morning! The answer was no..shop was closed and no payments could be made!! I will be reading all reviews more closely before making bookings. I should have avoided this place as there is a review in here of the staff punching a customer for complaining!!! So please…this hotel should not be operating where its customers need to sleep. A clear conflict between running a bar and place where people need to rest!!! Find another hotel.

Our 9 days and 8 nights stay in Paris was absolutely amazing, and choosing Grand Hôtel Nouvel Opera in Bastille was one of the best decisions we made for this trip. I found this hotel through Expedia, which is always my go-to for great travel deals, discounts, and hotel packages. The location was perfect for us. Situated in the 11th Arrondissement, Bastille has such a vibrant multicultural vibe with amazing restaurants, cafés, boulangeries, pâtisseries, and food spots all around. It truly felt lively, welcoming, and safe even when walking around at night. If you are someone who loves food adventures and exploring local culture, this area is perfect. Our room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable for a couple. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had everything we needed. The washroom was spacious enough, and the hot and cold water worked perfectly after long days of exploring Paris. What truly made this hotel exceptional was the hospitality. Before arriving, I emailed the hotel asking if we could leave our luggage since we were arriving earlier than the 3 PM check-in time. To our surprise, they went above and beyond and accommodated us with an early check-in at 10 AM. After a long flight, that gesture meant so much to us. The staff and crew were all kind, polite, and very accommodating throughout our stay. Special shout out to Marianne, who welcomed us warmly and helped us during our entire stay. She truly went out of her way to assist us, especially with our Navigo Pass and transportation questions. Her kindness and excellent customer service made our Paris experience even more memorable. Overall, we highly recommend Grand Hôtel Nouvel Opera to anyone visiting Paris. Great location, wonderful staff, clean rooms, safe neighborhood, and an amazing experience from beginning to end. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked two rooms, and everything was tiny. We specifically requested double rooms (with two single beds), but they gave us two double rooms, one of which had no heating (just a tiny radiator that didn't work) and a step that was so small you could easily trip and fall if you didn't notice it before entering. When we politely asked to change rooms, as we thought it might be a misunderstanding, the receptionist rudely told us that nothing could be changed and that there was no way to do it, even offering us the door. The elevator is minuscule and can only fit two people at a time. For the breakfast buffet, you have to wait outside for tables to become available because the dining room is too small, and they stop replenishing the tables at a certain time. If a table hasn't become available by then, you're left with no breakfast options. The luggage storage room is a small, dirty, and damp space under the stairs. Regarding the location, it was far from the center, about an hour away, but we took a taxi to get there and we didn't have too much of a problem. It's also close to the subway line 9 which connects quite well to the center.
James Montaldi★★★★☆
It's functional. The room was just slightly bigger than the double bed (I think it was classed as a single room, although my reservation details classed it as a double). But most importantly, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were helpful. Also convenient walking distance to the Gare de Lyon. There are many brasseries to eat at in a short walking distance.

worst hotel I've ever stayed. Moldy tiny room, no AC, horrible staff. Avoid at all costs. Paris was absolutely packed this week and left us with no affordable option, so this hotel was last resort. We paid approx $250/ night, and it was absolutely overpriced. We understood that hotels are typically smaller in Paris, but the sink size was the size of a palm. It was impossible to brush teeth without spilling water. There were signs of mold and rust. There's no air conditioning. It was 35 degrees daily, and it was hotter in the room than outside due to poor ventilation. Unable to sleep at night as it was facing main street, and needed to crack the window for air. The washroom was invaded by bugs when you cracked a window for air. Staff were unwelcoming & rude. Both day & night time staff were rude, and it wasn't due to the language barrier. We booked a room with 2 beds, and the night staff refused to give us 2 keys without any explanation. My friend & I had split agenda and tried to ask the morning staff for additional key, he refused and also demanded us to leave the key to him, stating it was explained to us at check in (we received zero info). When I got back late night alone, the staff didn't allow me to wait for my friend in the lobby and asked me to go home. He only gave me a second key card when I said I would stand here next to him to wait for my friend, given my friend had the only one key card. Location is in Paris. However, still a 15-minute walk to a nearby metro station. I think having a supermarket nearby was the only positive thing I could say. Overall, the hotel was horrible, old and unrenovated, lack of communication, rude and untrained staff. It was a very negative experience from the actual hotel room to the management. Would never recommend this hotel.

Tips for Booking a Budget Hotel near Place des Vosges

Securing a great deal in this prestigious neighborhood requires a smart booking strategy. The prices can fluctuate dramatically based on the season, day of the week, and local events. By following a few expert tips, you can maximize your chances of landing a comfortable room at a rate that feels like a steal. Here is how to approach your search like a seasoned traveler rather than a first-time tourist.

Travel in the Off-Season or Shoulder Season
Paris is significantly more affordable from November through March, excluding the Christmas and New Year holidays. During these months, hotel rates near the Marais can drop by 30% to 50% compared to peak summer prices. You will also enjoy the neighborhood’s cafes and museums with far fewer crowds, making the experience more pleasant.

Look for "Double" vs. "Twin" Room Pricing
In many Parisian budget hotels, a room with one double bed is often cheaper than a room with two twin beds. If you are traveling with a friend, check if you are comfortable sharing a double bed to save money. This is a common trick used by locals to unlock lower nightly rates in historic buildings where room sizes vary.

Check for Breakfast Exclusions
Many budget hotels list a rate that includes a continental breakfast, but this is often overpriced compared to local bakeries. You are staying in one of the best food neighborhoods in Paris. Opt for a room-only rate and spend your money on fresh pastries and coffee at a nearby corner café instead of a generic hotel buffet.

Book Directly with the Hotel
While third-party booking sites are great for research, many independent hotels in the Marais offer a "best rate guarantee" or a free drink if you book directly through their website. Calling the hotel directly can also help you ask for a quiet interior room, which is often the same price as a noisy street-facing one.

Consider a Hotel with a Kitchenette
If you are staying for more than two nights, look for "aparthotels" or rooms with a small kitchenette. Having the ability to store cheese, wine, and breakfast items from the nearby Marché des Enfants Rouges will save you a significant amount on dining out. This is the best way to live like a local while keeping your daily expenses low.

The area around Place des Vosges is more than just a place to sleep; it is a destination that rewards those who take the time to explore its hidden courtyards and quiet streets. By choosing one of these affordable hotels, you are giving yourself the gift of location without the financial stress that often comes with a Parisian vacation.

Remember that the best trips are often defined by the memories you make outside your hotel room. With the money you save on accommodation, you can linger longer over a glass of wine at a terrace café or pick up a unique souvenir from one of the nearby art galleries. The Marais is waiting to be discovered, and you do not need a luxury budget to enjoy it.
