Strasbourg’s culinary identity is often defined by its Alsatian winstubs, hearty choucroute, and riverside cafés. Yet beneath the timber-framed facades of Petite France and the glass corridors of the European Quarter lies a thriving Italian food scene that rivals many larger European capitals. The city’s proximity to the Italian border, combined with a cosmopolitan population of EU officials and international students, has cultivated a demand for authentic regional cooking rather than generic tourist pasta.
Over the past decade, a new wave of chefs has moved away from heavy cream sauces and oversized portions, focusing instead on precision, seasonal ingredients, and wood-fired techniques. You can now find Neapolitan pizzas blistered in imported ovens, handmade tagliatelle cut to order, and Sicilian cannoli filled moments before they reach the table. These restaurants are not simply imitating Italy; they are interpreting its diverse culinary regions with a distinctly Alsatian respect for produce and craft.
Choosing where to eat can be overwhelming when every narrow alley seems to hide a trattoria or an elegant enoteca. Some spots are perfect for a quick lunch between museum visits, while others demand a slow, multi-course dinner with a bottle of Barolo. The best tables balance technical skill with that intangible Italian warmth, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit.
This guide focuses on quality, consistency, and authenticity. We have considered the sourcing of ingredients, the skill of the kitchen, the atmosphere, and the value for money. Whether you are a local looking to rediscover your city or a visitor seeking a break from Alsatian cuisine, you will find a destination that matches your mood.
Below, you will find a curated selection of the twelve best Italian restaurants in Strasbourg. Each entry represents a different facet of the Italian dining experience, from rustic and family-run to modern and refined. After the list, we have included practical tips to help you navigate reservations, ordering, and etiquette like a local.

Il Felice is a wonderful Italian restaurant in Strasbourg and a great choice if you’re craving authentic pizza. We ordered two pizzas, and both were excellent—perfectly baked with a light, crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and rich, flavorful toppings that really stood out.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a lovely place for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The staff were friendly, and the overall experience felt genuinely authentic.
If you’re looking for delicious Italian pizza in Strasbourg, Il Felice is definitely worth a visit. We’ll certainly be back to try more of the menu.

Il Felice is a quaint and very popular little Italian restaurant on Rue de Tonneliers in Strasbourg. Even with lots of tables inside and outside, this place fills up fast. If you need a table at a particular time, you should try to book ahead of time if possible. The food is very good and quickly presented despite the constant throng of hungry patrons. The cocktails are also very good with an Italian flare. Its a great spot to spend some time relaxing and getting a great meal
Demi Scheerman★★★★★
Good thing we reserved and were early, because within 10 minutes after opening, Il Felice was packed with guests. The menu offers a variety of pizza, pasta, and antipasti. The menu is written in french, but nothing that a basic french knowledge and google translate can't translate. We had the truffle pasta and burratta pizza. The tiramisu was delicious too. Service was friendly, yet quick and efficient. Definitely professionals. Would definitely recommend to visit.
Leão★★★★★
Wonderful pizzas! It’s recommended to book in advance, as you probably won’t find a table inside otherwise. The staff are attentive and the service is quick. Both the food and the mocktails were delicious! I’ve already been to this restaurant twice, and the experience was great on both occasions.
I really appreciated that the water bottle placed on the table was complimentary with the meal.

I loved the lemon salad, mozzarella salad (with the surprising vanilla ice cream) and pizza. Service a bit slow

We couldn’t order a table so we came 19:00 sharp and were lucky to get a sit. The place is packed. Lovely staff. The food was great ( get the big pizza and not the mini one).
The food was great, cocktails mediocre and deserts were ok.
We loved it!

A cozy and beautifully decorated restaurant. The food was very delicious. The steak, in particular, was probably the best I've ever eaten. The sauce complemented the steak perfectly. I highly recommend it.

I was looking forward to this spot based on the google reviews and Italian cuisine in a city that is more about it’s meat and potatoes.
Unfortunately I was underwhelmed on every dish my family had. It was just okay Italian at best.
The server was nice and the setting was decent but the food just didn’t live up to what I would have expected.
I would imagine there are a lot of better options out there.

Penne salmon and truffle ravioli were delicious. The arancini and wines were also great. Friendly staff and timely service. Cozy and neat atmosphere

A little slice of Italy in France 🇮🇹🇫🇷
Incredibly delicious food, beautiful presentation, and such a warm, welcoming owner. You can always tell when people put real love into what they do — and you can taste it in every bite. Definitely a place that steals your heart (and appetite).

Classic Italian cuisine at a very reasonable price. The dishes are full of depth and flavor, clearly made with care and skill. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and has a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We dined at this restaurant last week. We were visiting from Boston, and we had an urge for Italian food. If I was a local, this restaurant would be a weekly haunt. Everything about our experience was outstanding, despite a minor language challenge. A single man, perhaps the owner, took care of everything front of house, and he was incredibly kind (by accommodating us in the first place without reservations), in good humor, and generous translating some hard words to 4 anglophiles. The menu was just right, the food was outstanding, the wine was fantastic, and the vibe was really great. It is a small but lovely footprint inside. Conversation surrounding our table was animated yet we had not trouble conversing. Don't miss a chance to experience great food and nice hospitality.

It is really good restaurant. I ate pizza (Burrata pizza) and salad. It was really amazing and the prices also okey

“Absolutely loved this place. The atmosphere is small, cozy, and really welcoming. We came as a group of five, and every single person was happy with their meal. The pizza was amazing, perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the variety of desserts we tried was just as impressive. The food, service, and prices all made for a fantastic experience. Definitely recommend this establishment

Excellent Italian food in the heart of Strasbourg. We had the scallop risotto with artichoke and the seafood pasta, and both were excellent. Service was also top notch. The space is limited, with space for perhaps 30 dinners. Only downside was it is a bit warm on a hot day given the small space with the kitchen open to the dining area. They do have A/C and the fans do help.
We would most definitely come again if back in Strasbourg
Christy Kocher★★★★★
The food here was extraordinary. Who would have known that some amazing Italian food is right here in Strasbourg, France? From the eggplant parmesan, to perfectly cooked battered scallops in a delicious sauce, to the only inch lobster raviolis we were impressed. Then we finished it up with a variety plate which included five unique desserts. Definitely a place to come back to.

best italian food i’ve eaten so far. very authentic, the taste and plating are amazing; they put a lot of effort into the food. 100000/10 recommend!
sweet local restaurant, very cute

1/2 It is suspicious that the vast majority of very good reviews come from people who have one or very few reviews published...!
2/2 Good food but a little expensive (€16 for a mini parmigiana di melanzane). The atmosphere is a little chaotic: not much space for so many tables. The ravioli dish costs €35 (the price in a great restaurant in Bologna or Florence).

Attenzione questa è una recensione per gli italiani 🇮🇹
If you want to eat like you’re actually in Italy (and not in one of those “Italian” places abroad), this is the spot. Especially if you’re from Puglia… you’ll feel at home immediately.
Real flavors, simple dishes done properly, no weird adaptations — just honest Italian food that tastes right.
Yes, prices are a bit higher, but this is the real price you pay to feel at home when you’re abroad. And honestly, it’s worth every euro.

We came here for our last meal in Strasbourg and just wish we'd found it earlier. Delicious food, bruschetta with wonderfully fresh tomatoes, penne alla matriciana and saltimbocca were stand out dishes; with extremely generous portions and wonderful service all made for an excellent meal. Our waiter moved seamlessly between French, German and English whilst serving all the different tables on the terrace and was extremely friendly and helpful, checking we had understood everything on the menu.
We arrived just as the restaurant opened for the evening and got a table on the terrace but very quickly it was full so make sure you reserve or arrive early.
One thing to be aware of is the fact that the restaurant terrace is right by a tram stop and so quite loud
Alex McKenzie-Smith★★★★☆
Very friendly waiters and the food was served very quickly. The starter was excellent (and in generous quantities), and although the main course wasn't as good as it could have been, it was nonetheless delicious. The atmosphere outside (although only five tables were outside) is for the most part nice, but due to the restaurant's position 10 metres away from a tram stop, conversation is interrupted every couple of minutes by a tram. Additionally, it is not overcrowded by tourists, probably due to its location.
Riki Apel★★★★★
A charming Italian restaurant with a warm, family-like atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed like guests at someone’s home. The portions are generous and served with a lot of heart. The focus is less on plate aesthetics and more on flavor, freshness, and a comforting homemade feeling in every dish.
The Napolitana pasta was a delightful surprise, simple, classic, homey, and delicious, just the way authentic Italian food should be. The bruschetta came with a very generous topping of tomatoes and olives, fresh, lightly grilled, and full of flavor. The steak was one of the highlights, perfectly cooked, juicy, and served with homemade pasta that complemented it beautifully and made the dish rich and satisfying.
The staff were friendly, patient, and genuinely pleasant, adding to the overall experience. For dessert we had tiramisu, which was excellent, creamy, balanced, and with just the right level of sweetness.
In summary, this restaurant feels like a small corner of Italy, with great food, large portions, and a warm atmosphere. It is recommended to reserve a table in advance, especially during busy hours

Food did not meet expectations of the high reviews on Google. We ordered 3 pastas; vongole was tasteless (no seafood flavor, unsalted), carbonara was dry, and gnocchi was overly salty/heavy. Wish they balanced the flavors better. Service was great and they were very thoughtful and accommodating of our baby and stroller which we appreciate! We were just disappointed by the food.

Stopped by for lunch late in the afternoon as this is one of the restaurants in the area that didn't close during the hours between lunch and dinner. The place was packed, quite a small dining area but we were able to luckily get a table for 2. Very cozy dining ambiance with warm lighting. When I say quite tight area, my backside was literally almost up against the POS machine used by waiter to key in orders to the kitchen. English menu was accessible via a QR Scan on the table. Warm, friendly efficient service by the waiter. I ordered the Pasta Agnello (slow cooked lamb ragu pasta) and my wife had the Pasta San Giagamo
(pasta with a vanilla parsnip cream sauce, glazed carrots, grilled scallops). I had high expectations for the Lamb ragu pasta and it was good taste, but could've been service more temperature hot. But the star highlight really was the Pasta San Giacamo - wow that delicious cream sauce, fresh vegetables, and perfectly done scallops. Highly recommend this dish! I asked for a side of bread (they did charge 2 EUR) it was foccacia baked topped with spring onions. This was only okay - it had more of a corn bread feel (for lack of a better word) Glass of wine of the Verre Nero Di Troia - very good indeed, just felt it rather pricey at 10 EUR a glass.
Bill for the two of us with 2 pastas, side bread, 1 glass of wine, and bottle of sparkling water came to 61.20 EUR
All in all, highly recommend the delicious pasta here coupled with a cozy warm setting. Just come early as the place fills up, and coming in a large group could be challenging if you're not early, due to the smaller dining space. One small suggestion to the restaurant: There was a sign on the door in local language that I didn't understand (I thought it meant no more seating available because every table filled - and we weren't sure if we could enter or not) but when translated with my phone the sign said something like: to let Food Delivery persons to wait outside the shop. It would be helpful for a small English sign for us visiting tourists.
Gabriella★★★☆☆
Lovely interior design, very cosy and nice staff! The pasta dishes were quite tasty, but a bit expensive considering the small portion sizes. The tiramisu was not bad but not the best we’ve had.
Anthony Boisclair★★★★★
Quiet, authentic, very small and modern Italian restaurant (owned by real Italians). Best food we ate throughout our whole trip through Alsace, western Germany and Amsterdam. Went in for a lunch, left in awe. Very fresh and light meals & ingredients. We ate the Beef and carrot pasta, risotto, bruschetta, burrata salad, and cheesecake, ALL AMAZING. They even have authentic imported all Italian beer, we were really happy, we keep talking about it. A MUST VISIT IN STRASBOURG.
Atdhe Haxhibeqiri★★★★★
A really cosy little place in the center of Strasbourg. The menu is small (mainly pasta and gnocchi), but the food is absolutely 10/10. We had the truffle pasta, Pasta alla Barbara, and the gorgonzola–broccolini gnocchi — and it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten something this good.
We also had a Pinot Grigio white wine which paired perfectly with the dishes.
Veronika Srs★★★★☆
The food is about average, tables are incredibly close to each other. U are not allowed to use the wifi coz the waitress said they do not know the password (?). Its all right for a quick meal, their homemade pasta itself is nice. An extra star for the nice toilet.

Petros PAPAZOGLOU PAPAZOGLAKIS★★☆☆☆
Great location near the park and nicely presented food, but unfortunately not worth the price or the hassle. The portions were small. The taste was nothing exceptional, the octopus was dried and rest of food without the expected Italian character and genuine tasty ingredients. Last but not least, the service was incredibly disorganized. We waited over an hour just to order our desserts, and even then, we had to remind the waiters multiple times to finally receive them. What was even more disappointing was that we ordered our food well before most other tables, yet they were served long before us. The staff seemed completely lost but yet indifferent to the delays. I wouldn't recommend this place until they address their service issues and improve their standards, staff attitude, and portion price ratio.
Erik Merker★☆☆☆☆
This was by far our worst experience of our 3 week Europe trip, which is unfortunate because it came recommended from a local. We were hoping for a nice dinner after exploring the park. Upon arrival soon after opening with empty tables everywhere, we stood outside and nobody came over to greet us. After a few minutes I asked if a table was available and they pointed to an outdoor table in the sun. I asked for the table next to it because it was in the shade and the waitress rolled her eyes and said they were both the same but let us sit at the shaded table. We sat there for about 15 minutes and were never waited on even though during that time at least 5 other groups were seated and waited on. We eventually assumed that we were not wanted there and got up and left.

Top quality pizza and great specials board. Reasonably priced. Very friendly staff. Felt very welcome. It was a busy night so service (understandably) was a little slow, but highly recommended for anyone in the area when visiting Strasbourg.
Anastasija K★★★★★
Wonderful place with great pizza! Very cozy place, high quality ingredients and a gorgeous park across the street ❤️
Alexander Turilin★☆☆☆☆
Extremely disappointing experience. We walked 20 minutes to get here since Google Maps says they are open until 3 PM. We arrived at 2:15 PM, but the kitchen was already closed and only pizza was available. Since we don’t eat pizza, we asked for coffee, but they refused, stating they are "only a restaurant." When I pointed out that their kitchen hours aren't listed correctly online, the staff started raising their voices at us. Total lack of hospitality and very rude behavior. Avoid this place.

We cannot recommend Bastardo enough, we would definitely recommend booking in advance, as when we arrived clients were cueing at the door before the restaurant opened. The level of service, food and atmosphere was outstanding. We will return and enjoy the hospitality when we are next visiting Strasbourg.

Our visit in Strasbourg was great until we entered this restaurant.
Won't recommend this restaurant to tourists especially foreigners. When we made reservations, it has many open slots and we booked it way earlier before the visit. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were many open tables..
The manager were not friendly, racists and unwilling to serve us. He has pointed his finger at the table next to the entrance door and near to the kitchen toilet. His attitude was "take it or leave".
We didn't order anything. Better to walk out from this restaurant
Shyno★☆☆☆☆
I sat with my girlfriend because she was hungry. I just ordered a drink and the manager (I assume he was the manager because the waiter called him) told me we can only sit if we both order meals. He puts us in such an uncomfortable situation, being force to order food. I have ended up ordering the cheapest thing in the menu, not to make my girl feel more awkward. I really wanted to leave. It has been a very uncomfortable experience.
Veronica Ingram★★★★★
Excellent restaurant! Arancini & burrata appetizers were fabulous! Crispy pizza crust, it was great! Pasta dishes sooo good! The manager was fabulous with recommendations! Cocktails were creative and delicious, wine list A+.
Marta Perez-Noguera★★★★★
We had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and of excellent quality, making for a truly memorable dinner. The ambiance was delightful, with thoughtfully chosen decorations that created a chic and trendy vibe, adding to the overall charm of the place. The location is very central, making it convenient to visit, and it’s definitely worth trying. However, the tables were placed a bit too close to one another, which made the seating feel slightly cramped. Despite that, the authenticity and expert preparation of the dishes more than made up for it. I highly recommend trying the stracciatella – it was incredibly flavorful and one of the standout items on the menu! Booking is recommended to ensure you get a spot at this popular venue.

I never had such AWFUL service and pasta. We were tempted by the deco very modern Italian. But this is for sure the only positive point in this place. Pasta was overcooked too much cheese of low quality to leave a nasty taste in the mouth, aubergine were not cooked. We had to ask 3 times for the table to be clean. It was dirty and sticky. Service was far from convincing. CUSTOMER RUN AWAY… Never again in this place.

I was walking down the street when an employee standing at the entrance gave me a pizza sample. Guess what? It was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in my life! My friend and I ordered the exact same one. Usually, I leave the crust because it’s too hard. But the one I had from this restaurant was not hard at all, smelled really tempting, and I ate the whole thing. It was an experience that not only filled my stomach but also gave me pure satisfaction. I will definitely visit this place again the next time I visit Strasbourg! 😍

We popped in, because of the enticing windows display of their cases. A good family stop with plenty of space and good food. We opted for a hot drink and a pastry. Restaurant is clean and spacious.

While traveling in Strasburg, my family was looking for some Italian food to have dinner. While reviewing a few of the local restaurant options, I stumbled across Restaurant Capricciosa’s google reviews. The photos of the food and positive reviews made it be the top of my list of options.
When we entered we were greeted by the friendly staff and sat immediately at our table. The server, originally from Italy, made some recommendations for us to eat. To start, we had the antipasti misti (similar to a charcuterie board), such a delicious beginning to our meal. We ordered a few pizzas, Margherita, Diavola and the Primavera. Each one was just as delicious as the others. Our party also ordered the Carbonara Vera. The portions were huge! For dessert, we had gelato, tiramisu (one of the best I’ve had!) and the affogato. What an excellent way to end the meal!
I highly recommend!

It's lit, welcoming, clean, very well decorated and set up. Amazing pizza and great service. I'll visit some more because I've been figuratively thunderstruck (big time) on this first attempt 🍕

The food overall was delicious. We ordered Cacio de Pepe pasta, the Amatriciana pasta, and Finocchiona pizza. The pizza crust was perfect and they are very generous with the parmesan on the pasta. We had ordered one of the pastas with no parmesan but they still heaped it. One of us was happy to receive even more parmesan but the other was a little sad since the cheese was a little melted into the pasta. The chili oil is also very good and spicy.

Tasty and quality italian food!
Great Pizza and crunchy bread. The pasta with truffle we tried was also good. The dessert could have a bit more chocolate to be even more delicious as it felt a bit dry.
The service was very polite and both waitresses made us feel welcome.
They also have an open kitchen and you may see them cooking. It was really nice seeing someone cleaning really well the kitchen's refrigerator and walls. I was impressed by the level of cleanliness.

Pizza Capricciosa was too salty and significantly different from one which is served in Italy. But it was still quite delicious.
The place is nice and comfortable with reasonable prices.

An absolute gem in Strasbourg! The food here is exceptional. Pure, high-quality Italian ingredients prepared to absolute perfection.
Beyond the incredible flavors, the hospitality is unmatched. Danilo was remarkably friendly, attentive, and warm, making us feel right at home from the start. You can genuinely feel the positive energy and love the whole staff brings to their work. To top it all off, Chef Luigi personally introduced himself to our table, and his deep passion for his craft is undeniable.
My parents and I had such a lovely, memorable evening. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Strasbourg just to come back here! Highly recommended—grazie mille to Danilo and Chef Luigi! 🇮🇹❤️

the food we ordered was lovely but the “sapore d’isola” portion was really small - it was more of a aperitif.
overall, really tasty, but we’d appreciate bigger amount of food on the plate

The food was absolutely delicious, but what truly made our experience special was Danilo’s kindness and exceptional service. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and efficient, and took the time to explain everything to us so clearly. He made us feel genuinely welcome. ❤️
We had such a lovely evening thanks to the wonderful food and, especially, Danilo’s outstanding service. Highly recommended. Thank you so much, Danilo! 🇮🇹✨

A restaurant with a true soul, and you feel it as soon as you walk through the door. Here, Italy isn't just on the plate: it's in the atmosphere, the ingredients, the welcome, and above all, in this genuine passion for Italy.
You can tell the team deeply loves what they do and wants to share the best of Italian culture. A warm, authentic place full of character.
Impeccable, attentive, and professional service, with that little extra something that makes you want to come back.
A wonderful address in Strasbourg for anyone who loves Italy, the real Italy, the one that's experienced as much as it's tasted.
I highly recommend it!
Practical Tips for Dining Italian in Strasbourg
Italian dining in Strasbourg operates on a rhythm that blends French service standards with Mediterranean pacing. While the city is welcoming to tourists, understanding a few local nuances will significantly improve your experience. These tips will help you secure a table at popular spots, order with confidence, and appreciate the regional distinctions that make the food here so compelling.
Book ahead for dinner, especially Thursday through Saturday. Strasbourg has a dense population of professionals and politicians who dine out frequently. The most popular Italian tables, particularly those in the city center near Place Kléber or the Cathedral, fill up days in advance. A phone call is often more effective than an online booking for smaller, family-run trattorias, as many still manage reservations manually and may not update third-party platforms.
Look for restaurants that list their flour and olive oil origins. The difference between a good pizza and an exceptional one often comes down to the type of flour used and the fermentation time of the dough. Authentic Neapolitan pizzerias will proudly advertise their use of Caputo flour, San Marzano tomatoes, and fior di latte mozzarella. If a menu specifies these details, it is usually a sign that the kitchen takes sourcing seriously.
Do not expect bread to be free or automatically refilled. In Italy, bread is often served without charge or for a small coperto. In France, however, restaurants operate under different service norms. Many Italian restaurants in Strasbourg will bring a basket of focaccia or grissini, but it may appear on your bill as a separate line item. If you are unsure, simply ask your server whether bread is included before accepting a second basket.
Embrace the Alsatian influence on the wine list. While you will find excellent Italian wines by the glass, many sommeliers in Strasbourg take pride in pairing Italian dishes with local Alsatian varietals. A dry Riesling or a structured Pinot Gris can be a stunning match for seafood pasta or creamy burrata. Do not hesitate to ask for a local recommendation; it is a point of regional pride.
Order pasta as a primo, not a main course. If you want to experience a restaurant the way Italians do, consider ordering a pasta or risotto as a first course, followed by a meat or fish dish. While this is less common in France, many of the higher-end Italian kitchens in Strasbourg structure their menus to accommodate this traditional progression. It allows you to taste more of the chef’s range without over-ordering.
Check the opening hours carefully. Strasbourg’s dining scene observes a strict lunch and dinner service split. Many Italian restaurants close between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and some do not open on Sundays or Mondays. The European Quarter can be quiet on weekends, while the tourist-heavy areas near the Cathedral may have extended hours. Always verify the day’s service before making a special trip, especially during the Christmas market season when hours shift dramatically.
The Italian dining landscape in Strasbourg rewards those who explore beyond the main tourist arteries. A short walk toward the Neustadt or the Krutenau district often reveals hidden gems where the focus is squarely on the plate rather than the foot traffic. These neighborhood spots may lack the postcard views, but they frequently offer the most memorable meals and the warmest welcomes.
Whether you are craving a blistered margherita, a plate of silky cacio e pepe, or a slow-braised ossobuco, Strasbourg delivers with a level of care that reflects its unique position between two great culinary cultures. Buon appetito.
