12 Best Spas in Tours

Tours may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of French spa destinations, but that is precisely what makes it such a rewarding choice. Nestled in the heart of the Loire Valley, this elegant university city offers a slower pace of life, refined architecture, and a genuine sense of well-being. For travellers seeking relaxation without the crowds of Provence or the French Riviera, Tours delivers a quietly luxurious alternative.

The city’s spa culture reflects its surroundings: understated, sophisticated, and deeply connected to French wellness traditions. You will find everything from intimate urban retreats tucked behind historic facades to larger wellness centres equipped with hydrotherapy pools and hammams. Many establishments incorporate local Touraine ingredients such as grape seed oil, honey, and Loire Valley clay into their treatments, giving each visit a distinctive sense of place.

Beyond the treatment rooms, the rhythm of Tours itself encourages rest and recovery. A morning walk along the banks of the Cher or a slow coffee on Place Plumereau sets the tone for an unhurried day. Adding a spa appointment to your itinerary is not an indulgence here; it is a natural extension of the city’s relaxed, art-de-vivre atmosphere.

Choosing the right spa can transform a simple break into a memorable sensory experience. Some visitors prioritise advanced skincare technology, while others look for traditional thermal rituals or couples’ packages. The best spas in Tours balance technical expertise with warm, personalised hospitality, ensuring that every guest leaves feeling genuinely restored rather than merely pampered.

The following selection focuses on establishments that consistently earn strong reviews for service quality, cleanliness, and treatment variety. Whether you are visiting for a weekend of château-hopping or you live locally and need a regular wellness escape, these addresses represent the finest relaxation options the city has to offer. Each one has been chosen for its distinct character and commitment to professional care.

Use this guide as a starting point for planning your wellness break in the Loire Valley. The recommendations below include a range of budgets and styles, from boutique day spas to hotel wellness facilities open to outside guests.

Great place To relax spa, massage lovely staff
Sandrine Launay★★★★★
A truly delightful experience, courtesy of family and friends. I arrived at Doreva with great pleasure, without a second thought. I was warmly welcomed by Kelly, who explained everything to us. An incredible scrub, a relaxing massage, hammam, sauna, jacuzzi, and ice fountain – all very enjoyable. I thank Kelly for her kindness, advice, and professionalism. I also appreciate the thoughtfulness of her colleague who checked on me to make sure everything was alright. We were offered a relaxing lounge with a choice of iced tea (such as hibiscus tea) or another chocolate-based beverage.

My first experience at this spa was thanks to a gift certificate I received for my birthday. I opted for the oriental massage with orange blossom oil. A huge thank you to Justine for her attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism! The spa is beautiful, with a warm welcome. I will definitely be back. 😊
Marion Dreyer★★★★★
I was lucky enough to receive a gift certificate for a body scrub followed by a massage, and it was a truly relaxing experience. Margaux was very professional, gentle, and attentive. Her massage was so relaxing that I even fell asleep! I highly recommend this spa for the quality of the service and treatments. Thank you again to Margaux for this wonderful experience.
Hugo Haddouf★★★★★
A very pleasant experience: the place is welcoming and the atmosphere refined, the facilities are varied and of high quality. The team is incredibly attentive, from the moment you arrive until the very end. The scrub and massage are very relaxing and perfectly meet the client's expectations, especially because the therapist takes the initiative and time to listen carefully to your desires and understand your physiology. It makes you want to come back to try other types of treatments. Thank you again!

I had two treatments on the 25/01/2023, the 'grote sel' (45 min) and the abhyanga massage (1h30) done by Anna. Both treatments were amazing, especially the massage. Anna was really professional and did everything with care. Her massage was sublime. I did enjoy very much the treatments and atmosphere. I will defenitely come back.

Lovely location on the edge of Tours, where we spent three happy nights on a half board option. This worked well for us - being out and about all day & then to return to base to chill. We had a lovely room in which we were very comfortable with our dog too. So relieved to know that our companion could accompany us when dining. Food on site was very varied, but of good quality, some may find portions a tad small, but it was well presented and accompanied with homemade bread! Breakfasts were all what we have come to know well as a french breakfast. Croissants & Pain au Chocolate were good quality and the fresh orange juice very welcomed too. There was a huge wine lists with some very ‘interesting’ wines! Whilst more modest wines were to be found in amongst the Whites. We were intent on trying the local wines too. Staff were all very attentive and accommodating & we would certainly love to return.

I stayed one night on the 7th July for my birthday and booked with the 3 course menu. The experience was a overall huge disappointment. Between the first and second course we waited for 45min without being attended once. I had to get up and remind about us, while the staff and kitchen was busy serving some event which was happening at another part of the hotel. The wine card was a absolute disgrace, 12-14€by the glass with no wine a higher rating than 3.4 at Vivino and the cost of a bottle under the price of the glass with 9-11€. That is just a pure ripp off! The rooms are old and the century old carpet gave me the worst allergy ever. No AC in the rooms is neither advisable in summer! In that price category…they need to level up huge or won’t last long!

Place is charming. It’s just perfect for 2-3 days. Breakfast could be better, but it’s not bad. Croissants were very very good. Rooms are comfortable. You are allowed with dogs, it’s very important!!! There’s area around to take a nice walk with dog.
Antoine Faisandier★★★★★
We spent our last night of our first leg of the 'Loire a velo' in this hotel which has a lot of character. It is a beautiful building with a lot of character surrounded by a marvelous park planted with remarkable trees. The rooms are spacious and offer a vintage charms. Bathrooms and toilets are separate and modern. Service is good. We also went to the restaurant for diner. It offers a good creative cuisine and a solid wine list.
Melissa S★★★★☆
Our room was very spacious and impeccably decorated with a beautiful view over the courtyard of the hotel. The bathroom was small in comparison but was clean and adequate. The grounds directly surrounding the hotel are well manicured, but past the direct garden is a very dilapidated area with what was once a mini golf course and bar; a bit disappointing considering how much care is put into the main lawn and garden. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable.

Thanks to a gift certificate, I discovered this place. What a beautiful, all-marble space, and impeccably clean. I spent two hours relaxing: soaping, exfoliation, shampooing, and then a massage by a truly lovely, gentle, and attentive person. Afterwards, tea was served in a beautiful room by another very friendly and helpful person. I left feeling delighted.

A warm welcome from the professionals. Maëva is wonderful; she really took the time to give me a perfect blow-dry. She's incredibly meticulous in her work and won't let you leave until you have the perfect result 🙂 I'm not from the area, but I'll definitely be back. I've never been so pampered and cared for at every step. A fantastic hairdresser who clearly has no doubt about her work 😉 Thank you so much, and don't change a thing!

This was my first time here. The masseur was very kind and the massage very relaxing. However, I have serious doubts about the hygiene: the towel and sheet were sticky, with no disposable cover or even a truly clean towel, even though I was practically naked 🥲. When I got home, my hair and skin smelled like rancid oil. It's a shame, because I'd like to come back if the cleanliness were up to scratch, but right now, I'm seriously hesitant.

Our visit was the highlight of a week long trip in the Loire Valley. We had run of the main chateau and I felt like I had moved into my next home. There is so much to see and experience on this property and I wish we had a "down day" there just to relax.

Booked for 2hr Spa access with my Mum. The zen spa is a lovely, clean and relaxing space. The 2 staff members we saw were friendly and helpful, giving us directions to the spa and then showing us where the different facilities were. The outdoor pool was wonderful, we also enjoyed the nordic bath. Didn't try the hammam or the sauna, as we're both a bit heat averse at the moment, but both looked very clean and welcoming when we looked inside. A perfect 2 hour break away from it all.

A PERFECT experience! From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The spa is magnificent, very peaceful, a perfect place to disconnect. The AquaZen area is complete with its jacuzzi, hammam, and sauna, and the herbal tea room is an invitation to unwind. The massage that followed my hour at the spa was divine and allowed me to release all my tension—exactly what I needed! Thank you to the team, and especially to Camille, who performed my massage and guided me from beginning to end! I can't wait to come back!

Avoid at all costs. Purchased an RS Speed 2 spa (03/26) for €18,000, an ex-display model (€21,000 new), delivered on May 13th. Sold as a Premium spa created by Viespa, it turns out to be exactly the same as the Jupiter spa from Wellis, priced at €7,500! A "w" in the website photos raised our suspicions; a barely disguised deception, and then resold for three times the price (with the sole selling point being an acrylic shell, which you'll find on many spas without reaching this price point). Of course, after discussions with the manager, the model disappeared from the website the next day and was replaced by the V16A (older model). A complaint has been filed with the DGCCRF (French Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control).

An absolutely perfect experience at My Serenity in Tours! Everything was there for a truly relaxing and timeless experience. The music and aromas immediately envelop you in a cocoon of well-being. Thank you, Virginie!

This was my first experience, having never had anything more than a facial, and it was a truly relaxing moment, a chance to let go and experience well-being. Virginie made me feel comfortable from the very first second in a pleasant setting with an atmosphere that encouraged relaxation and introspection. And what can I say about that back massage (30 minutes, much too short now that I think about it) which combined gentleness and firmness: pure bliss, I'll definitely be back very soon. A huge thank you to Virginie for her professionalism, her gentleness, her precision, and her warm welcome.

Travelled to France and stayed overnight at this lovely hotel. Room was wonderful, very clean, good size. Little touches like Le' Occitaine toiletries, pet bowls, toy for my Siamese cat. Equally, although did not use the mini bar, it was there and stocked with " goodies". Also full sink, hob ,electric kettle, crockery and utensils if you wished to take food and cook. We ate in the garden area, beautiful evening not far from the wonderful pond. Food was good, but the service from the young waiter was excellent .He was very attentive and a credit to the hotel. We will be staying there again on our return journey. Also got to say the reception staff all so lovely and helpful. Parking an absolute bonus. Love this place. Well done to all at this hotel.
Andreas Wichmann★★★★☆
Nice rooms and garden. Stayed in one of the family rooms which was nice and spacious. Service was a bit slow and breakfast is on the expensive end for what is offered. Unfortunately, there are no easy alternatives nearby. Dinner was ok but also a bit too expensive for the quality. Parking is available on site but can be limited if you have a roof box on the car. The location is good but there is not much around it, so you have to drive to get somewhere for alternative food etc.

This is a spacious and charming property consisting of two buildings, with a retirement home located a short distance away. The hotel includes a main building and an annex. We stayed in the annex, where the rooms are generously sized, some featuring a small balcony. The room itself was spacious and included a small kitchenette with a fridge and coffee/tea facilities. An additional touch, such as white coffee/tea cups instead of black ones, would make it feel more hygienic and complete. There is a separate toilet, and the bathroom includes a small bathtub with both a rain shower and a handheld shower. The hotel is within walking distance of the city center (approximately 20 minutes), but there is also a tram stop about 5–10 minutes away from the hotel. The staff were friendly, and the check-in process was smooth, with clear explanations provided. Breakfast is extensive, especially by French standards, and you can order eggs prepared to your liking. A downside was that staff started clearing and preparing for lunch quite early, regardless of the time. We experienced this both at 09:15 and at 08:00, even though breakfast is served from 07:30 to 10:00. There is no bar, but you can sit in the conservatory and order drinks from the restaurant. There is also a free spa and fitness area, which can be used by external visitors as well. The garden is beautiful and is also shared with residents of the nearby retirement home. Parking is available on-site, both indoors and outdoors. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
Emily Williamson★★☆☆☆
Due to an air conditioning issue, we were moved from the Junior Suite we booked with a queen bed to a standard double room. When we expressed concerns about the downgrade, the manager told us we were welcome to find another hotel if we were unhappy. The hotel offered a €20 per night refund, but refused our request for complimentary breakfast instead. After trying the breakfast, we found it mediocre and not worth the €20 per person charge. The room had very small, hard pillows, worn towels, and inconsistent hot water. Despite requesting extra pillows through housekeeping, none were provided. The location was also less convenient than expected. There is very little within walking distance, and many of the nearby businesses appeared abandoned. Or permanently closed. It's best to have a car or take the train down the hill into the city center for restaurants and shopping. Checkout was the most frustrating part. Staff attempted to withhold the agreed refund by citing taxes and other charges that had never been mentioned before. We were also accused of taking minibar items despite taking nothing and had to offer to accompany staff to the room to prove it. Only after a lengthy discussion and making it clear we would leave an honest review was the promised refund honored. Problems can happen at any hotel. Unfortunately, the room downgrade, dismissive management response, poor service, inconvenient location, and difficulty receiving the compensation we were promised left us very disappointed with our stay.
Nadia Jasso★★★★★
An excellent experience. The staff is attentive and welcoming and the rooms are spacious and well-maintained. The restaurant serves absolutely delicious food. Parking available. This hotel is definitely worth your time and money.

Practical Tips for Choosing Your Spa in Tours

Before you book your treatment, it helps to understand a few local customs and practical considerations. The following tips will help you match the right spa to your needs, avoid common booking mistakes, and get the most value from your visit. A little preparation ensures that your relaxation time in Tours feels effortless from the moment you arrive.

Book ahead, especially on weekends and school holidays. Tours is a popular stopover for Loire Valley tourists, and the best time slots fill quickly. Many spas accept online reservations, but a phone call is often the fastest way to confirm availability and ask about special offers.

Ask about access to facilities without a treatment. Several hotel spas in Tours sell day passes that include the pool, sauna, hammam, and relaxation lounge. If you want a longer wellness experience without paying for multiple massages, this is often the most economical option.

Check the treatment menu for local products. Spas that use Touraine honey, Loire grape extracts, or locally produced essential oils offer a more authentic experience. These treatments connect your spa visit to the surrounding terroir and make excellent gifts if you purchase products afterwards.

Arrive 20 to 30 minutes before your appointment. Most French spas expect you to fill out a short health questionnaire and change into a robe and slippers. Arriving early gives you time to decompress in the relaxation area and makes the transition into your treatment much smoother.

Communicate your preferences clearly. French therapists generally use a firmer pressure than some international visitors expect. Do not hesitate to say “plus doux” for softer pressure or “plus fort” for deeper work. A good spa will always adapt the treatment to your comfort level.

Look for midweek packages. If your schedule is flexible, Tuesday through Thursday often brings lower prices and quieter facilities. Many spas in Tours run seasonal promotions or combined treatment offers that are not advertised on third-party booking sites.

Tours rewards travellers who slow down long enough to notice its quieter pleasures. A well-chosen spa afternoon here is not just about massage tables and steam rooms; it is about reconnecting with a gentler rhythm that the Loire Valley has preserved for centuries. Whether you spend an hour in a hammam or a full afternoon moving between pool, sauna, and treatment room, the experience lingers long after you leave.

When you are ready to plan the rest of your stay, pair your spa visit with a stroll through the old town or a short drive to one of the nearby châteaux. The combination of cultural discovery and physical restoration is exactly what makes Tours such a satisfying destination. Wherever you choose to unwind, the city’s best spas are ready to welcome you with professional care and genuine French hospitality.
